Have you had to use an EpiPen? What do you do?
Because one of the greatest men to ever exist, DJ
(00:25):
Goofy Wike at Druseph the Man, the Myth, the DJ.
So we were at Disney over the weekend and we
got drinks in Mexico and he wasn't sure if something
he's allergic to was in his drink. He wasn't sure.
(00:48):
He was pretty sure that it wasn't in his drink.
It didn't say on the menu that it was, but
there was a taste in it that hasted like it.
And he basically explains that. And I'm standing there and
he goes, well, I'm gonna drink it if things get bad.
(01:12):
My appipens in my left shoe, his left shoe.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
That's an odd place to keep that.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Well, what else would you keep it? I don't know.
I wear a purse. But continue My thing with that.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Though, is is he goes my EpiPens and my left
shoes stab my leg.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
So I'm like, well, hold.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
On, buddy, I did I didn't sign up for this
like this, such a track. Like if I saw Drew,
who's one of my favorite people. What even happens? Is
he fall to the ground? Is he like?
Speaker 3 (01:47):
What what type of state is he in? I don't
know what happens after that?
Speaker 1 (01:50):
So then I have to see my friend in that state,
and then I have to go into his shoe, and
then I have to grab this sing poke, which also
I don't know which side of an EpiPen to stab with.
I've never even seen an EpiPen. And then I got
a poke him and then he's saying do it on
my leg? I'm thinking, do I do it? How do
I do? I? Pull his pants down? You know what
(02:12):
I mean?
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Shut the button?
Speaker 4 (02:17):
You know?
Speaker 2 (02:18):
I think you're just supposed to do it. It's an intermuscular site.
And sorry say that again, intermuscular. I've had We've had
to do this several times. In elementary school. We had
a kid named Matthew who is allergic to peanuts and
he had his own table because you couldn't have peanuts
(02:40):
at his table. Well, there would be kids who were
stupid and would have peanuts on their hands, and then
they go out with them and then they like shove
him around at recess, and one time he had a
really bad reaction.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
One of the teachers had to go and stab it
in his leg.
Speaker 5 (02:55):
I never had to stab anybody, but in college, my
friend Jess, she had to use an EpiPen multiple times
we were in college.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Really yeah, she would just add herself.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Uh, what a horrible like way to have to live
where you're so scared. Uh. And of course I'm not
talking about the person who has to use the EpiPen.
I'm talking about the person who has to use the ipia. Yes,
I spent the whole entire day worried that something was
gonna happen.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
Since we're just talking about just like being in like
those scary situations. I'll never forget playing basketball with some
people and a guy had a seizure and everybody's like,
get something to hold his tongue down.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
I'm like, what that's like.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
The biggest I supposed to hold their tongue. No, I've
heard that's what I mean, you're supposed to. That's what
I did that up so it doesn't fall back.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
Well, I'm not gonna lie to you. We had somebody's
pen and we just put it on his tongue because
I know, I do. I was what eighteen.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Rockton, Yes, you had to use an EpiPen.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
I did. I had to use it on my self.
I was on a school chorus trip up in Gatlinburg, Tennessee,
and I had we had just finished our like competition.
We got first place, which was great, and I was
playing a video game.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Yeah, so you're playing you're playing video games. Let me
guess you were allergic to like cool Ranch doritos and
you had to punch it in yourle.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Like, No, I'm glad. I'm not allergic to cool Ranch currito's.
I love doritos. I was allergic to peanut butter. I
am allergic to peanut butter, and I was. I had
just finished around and my friend had asked me if
I wanted a pretzel, and so he just handed one
to me and I took like a bite out of
eight about half of it, like without really thinking, and
(04:51):
I swallowed it and I realized I had peanut butter
on my breast and I was like, holy crap, and
so I spit it out. I like washed my mouth out.
I like fifty milligrams and bend a dryl and and
like it was, oh yeah, I went to I went
to sleep so fast after that, like after luckily, I was.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Wait, but what about it? I mean you didn't uh
but you had to use an EpiPen at what point
when you before you fell asleep, after you fell sleep?
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Like when did you use it?
Speaker 4 (05:23):
I so I I called my mom down here and
she woke up and she was like hello. I was like, mom,
I don't know how to use an enty ten and
then they need to use it. And she was like okay, uh,
let me wake up your dad because my dad had
a night shift or he he had a morning shift,
and so he was like trying to sleep really well.
So it felt awful for waking them up.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
What happened? I'm freaking it out. What happened to you?
Are you okay?
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Uh? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (05:51):
I was fine. I used it and with along with
the benadryl, which helped like to stop on the like
I think because I spit it out so ask and
I like rinched my mouth and brush my teeth like
really quick. My mouth didn't swallo up a whole lot.
It was mostly just like my throat, and so I
was able to like, it wasn't uh immediate life or death.
(06:13):
But if I didn't notice it, then I probably would
have like died. So But the funny thing, like if
I only say it's funny because I survived it. But
the funny thing is that literally twelve hours earlier, like
almost on the dot, my friend had come back from
like the store across the street from the hotel we
were staying it with a tub of ice cream at
a bunch of spoons that she was gonna share it
(06:34):
with all of us, and I didn't know. None of
us knew I had peanut butter cups in it, and
I like had a spoonful and it was like in
my mouth, but I hadn't touched it yet, And then
I thought to ask or no, I had touched it,
but I didn't swallow it. And then I thought to ask, wait,
does this.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Guy an allergic reaction from this call? Jesus, this is crazy.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
You are interesting, Yeah, Brockton, I am happy that you
are safe. My advice to you is eating peanuts yah,
then you were a crazy person and stay safe call
in more often. All right, love having you on.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Thank you great Carlos.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
You had to perform the Heimlich maneuver. I've never I've
never had to do that before.
Speaker 6 (07:17):
So we were in basic training and you know it'll
feed us that much. We were out on the field.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
So we finally get to have a nice meal and I.
Speaker 6 (07:26):
Got my battle next to me and he's eating his
food and then he casually tapps me on the shoulder
and I'm like, okay, what's up. Yeah, I'm hungry too
to keep eating. And then he keeps tapping me and
I'm like, what's going on. Then I see him starting
to turn blue, so I'm like, oh crap, he's choking
a piece of steak. So I started doing the Hamlet
and I'm like, dude, next time universal hamlet signed that
you're choking, you know, put your arms around your neck.
(07:46):
Just tap me in the shoulder casually, and and then
he's like thanks. He spits out the piece of steak
and keeps on eating and we're like, let's keep on eating.
We don't know when the next meal is going to be.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Did the food shoot out like in the movies.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Yeah, wow, And does he buy the meal after that?
Speaker 3 (08:07):
He's got to buy you the meal.
Speaker 6 (08:09):
No, we're basic.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
So okay, what's the name of the maneuver again?
Speaker 6 (08:16):
The Hamlet?
Speaker 3 (08:17):
That's right?
Speaker 1 (08:18):
All right, Carlos, you're the greatest, calling more often and Carlos,
thank you so much for your service, genuinely appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (08:27):
Don't matter. He's saving lives doing the homlik I'm gonna
call it something.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Ta hey, one last thing. We'll end it with this
because this is a p s A. Just because we
we said we didn't know what to do. Real quick,
someone's having a seizure. What do you do?
Speaker 6 (08:46):
So you want to place them on the floor, and
you want to lie them to their side and kind
of have their head toward down, don't put their head up,
and don't put anything in their mouth.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Okay, all right, now we know right future
Speaker 3 (08:59):
I'm gonna tell my Herbert uncle that terrible chop sea
