Speaker 1 (00:01):
Today on Judge Joe Show, Shannon and Shane are married
with a thirteen year old son, and they are not
on the same page about his birthday party. Shannon says
absolutely not to Hooters. She says she's just trying to
protect her child, that he's still too young and needs
an age appropriate celebration, but Shane says absolutely yes. In

(00:27):
his mind, boys will be boys. Wings sports and a
little fun is just part of growing up. So who's right,
the protective mom or the dad who says it's totally normal.
All rise for Judge Joe Show on ninety three to
three FLZ Hey.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Shannon, Hey Shane, helloly and that you guys were originally
going to be in the same room and just on speakerphone,
so real quickly, thank you guys for going elsewhere and
being able to do this. And then however, we come
to a decision. I don't know, maybe you guys will
want to be back in the same room, or maybe

(01:05):
you guys are gonna do a little bit of time,
but anyways, this is all about your son birthday coming up, Shannon,
how old is your your son turning again? He's going
to be fourteen? Exciting and he wants to go to Hooters,

(01:26):
which you've got an issue with it. What is your
problem with Hooters?

Speaker 3 (01:32):
I mean, I don't doubt that his dad probably got
this in his head somehow, But to me, Hooters for
fourteen year old is definitely not age appropriate. I mean,
push up braws, booty cheeks. It's basically setting them up
for strip clubs in the future.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
It's it's setting the.

Speaker 5 (01:54):
Think that it's a gateway restaurant.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Yes, for him to be that kind of guy. Like
it's it's saying like being a man is looking at
but butt cheeks and boobs, you know, like this is
part of growing up. I'm totally against it.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
Can I say something Judge real quick? Or should I
let the defendant speak for himself.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Let's have Let's have our defendant, uh, you know, defend
and then plead his case as to why his son
should be celebrating his fourteenth birthday at Hooters. Shane, Yes, sir,
talk to me.

Speaker 6 (02:33):
I mean, look, he's fourteen years old. The girls there
aren't really that you know.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
They're not that badly.

Speaker 6 (02:41):
They have shirts and leggings, and you know, it's it's
kind of a a Hooters.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Thing, and you know was it was it your idea?

Speaker 6 (02:56):
I mean it kind of was, but really yeah, yeah,
you know I was. We were talking about sports and
you know I should achieve Todames and you know you got. Yeah,
I'm pretty excited about that.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Well, I'm sure he did four eight hundred and four
of the ninety three ninety three. We've got some parents
on the phone trying to figure out birthday party fourteen
year old boy. Shane, you want to take your son
to Hooters. Shannon, you got a big problem with it.
You say, do not do it. Brianna, you actually you

(03:37):
agree with Shannon.

Speaker 7 (03:40):
I do that's teaching the thirteen year old. I justify
a woman really young, take him laser tag, paintballing, exactly.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Have a question, how is it objectifying women though, if
you're just a customer, like if you're just you know,
a restaurant attendee, because I go to Hooters a lot,
and I feel like I'm not objectifying anyone. I'm just
trying to get the boneless.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
Wings, the boneless wings and the.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
Yeah, I don't get it, but Brianna, also, nobody is
holding a gun to these girls heads saying that they
need to want.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Serving there.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
So it's a two way street.

Speaker 6 (04:21):
Oh it's still the same as Oh, I'm not sure
who's all listening, but only fans.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
That's still even though they want you.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Think that Hooters is only fans.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
Okay, not even close.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
You lost me there now. I will say I would
if I could get boneless wings. And then the other
thing too is people never really talk about the curly fries.
That's why Muggs is a super good place as well,
because when you get the curly fries, like, that's one
thing you should be teaching your son, Shane is nothing
goes better with football than wings and curly fries and

(04:55):
then beer. You know, once he's eighteen. But what's that, Shannon.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
The wings the doves are way better. I mean the wings.
Everybody says it's about the wings.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
It is about the beau. And even then chann and
some you see some of these girl waitresses and beads
they are in dressing a little provocative too, you're going
to escape.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
I'm a little shot that we're still looking at Hooters
as objectifying. I just I suppose I look at it.
But also, it's called Hooters.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
It's not called wingers.

Speaker 7 (05:28):
It's called Hooters.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
In the name my son is, Oh my god, Christian.

Speaker 6 (05:37):
Hi, guys, Hi, it's it's harmless fun. I think my
aunt personally was a waitress at Hooters, and I started
going there. I was like two or three on my
birthday and I would go every year. It's I mean,
they're just in tank tops and the short shorts. It's nothing,
you know, And to be honest, he's almost fourteen anyway,

(05:58):
and at fourteen, my brother and I were already on
boobs dot com.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
I stayed on boobs dot com or I love boobs
dot com. I don't even know what that is. What
you're never mind?

Speaker 7 (06:14):
Yeah, he's on.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
That, Christian, thank you, I mean listen, because I don't
think that they want Oh no, I don't know. Anyways,
I got people who are unbelievably close to me who
have worked there, So I guess I don't look at
it like that. I suppose I don't know. And also
maybe it's the fact that it's just a Tampa Bay business.
I like, hey, you're Shane, is that still supporting local?

(06:43):
Like when you go to outback steakhouses? That supporting local
because the local support local business.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Christen, Yeah, go ahead, So I can agree with Christian
right before me. I have a fifteen year old son,
and believe me, at fourteen, they've already seen it all.
They've already heard it all. They've told their friends about it.
It is not a big deal, Like just let the
kid have his party at Hooters, Like it's not that

(07:13):
big a deal.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Okay, it is a big deal to me because we're
talking about me as a mother and my son. Just
because all the boobs are out there and you can
see only fans and you can see stuff online, does
it mean that I'm gonna fund it and celebrate?

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Do you go to public Does he go to public school?

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Yes, he goes to public school.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
Okay, then he has seen plenty of Hooters. The girls
at school got those short shorts and those low cut tops.
He's already seen it. Like it's okay.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, I'm not on board with it, and I'm it's
not about not being a cool mom. I'm going to
keep my son as pristine as possible.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
At fourteen, he's public school. On the internet has taken
that from our kids, the.

Speaker 7 (08:03):
Public school and internet.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
There are no Christine kids anymore.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Well, that's great, he can see I'm not going to
pay for a party at Hooters. It's like you're justifying
tank tops, and it's the whole message that I'm sending to.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
My kids at the same outfit.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Kristen. By the way,
like twin Peaks is like, why is not oh yeah,
yeah yeah he Shane, Yes, sir, I mean you've been
awfully quiet. What are you thinking?

Speaker 6 (08:45):
I mean, I'm just sitting back here, you know, listen
and agreeing with everybody that's called him for the most part.
I mean, you know, I've seen I caught my song
on Instagram the other day and he wasn't looking at him.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
Well, I think we.

Speaker 6 (08:59):
Can be what are he was looking at?

Speaker 2 (09:03):
It sounds like you're just Shane.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
You're justifying boobs online for Sun's fourteenth birthday. I mean,
this is just ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
You're being so casual about this.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
It's true.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Laser tag Lisa, what's up, Lisa? Go ahead? Shannon doesn't
want to something going to Hooters for his fourteenth birthday.
Shane says, let me take my son to Hooters. Go ahead, Lisa.

Speaker 7 (09:29):
Yeah, So I really don't think it's that big of
a deal. Honestly, have you been to Hooters, like it's
really not all that it's cut out like it used
to be. I mean I just went there with my
whole family and we just sat down, we eat food.
It wasn't a thing. I mean they even gave my
kids a frisbee and we left. Yeah. Yeah, I'm not

(09:49):
gonna they're not. Oh really, honest, I'm just saying it's
it's really just a restaurant. It's not it's really not
like sexualized like it used to be.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Then then I.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Should take them to a better restaurant.

Speaker 8 (10:04):
I mean, you're objections, come on, you know, and wagu
beef burger.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
You know, make them a foodie not a booby.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
All right, Lisa, thank you, Shannon and Shane. Listen, the
more and more I heard about, you know, both of
your sides and all of this, and and taking a
look at the callers, We've got a ton of people,
truthfully that are on Shane's side, but there are people
calling in who are on Shannon's side as well. At
the end of the day, I know this is a
total cop out move, but I can't give a mom

(10:43):
and a dad like decisions on their parents and their parenting.
So to that, I say, enjoy today. I think there's
gonna be a lot of fun once, you know, we
get off. So Shannon and Shane that's judged Joe Show.

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
