Speaker 2 (00:55):
Ninety three ninety three, if you have ever taken the
law into your own hands, I was shocked that I
did this. So I'm in a parking lot and this
is where I live. Okay, So it's a really really
really big parking lot and there is guest parking, there's
(01:20):
resident parking. This isn't the guest parking lot. I see
a car back up and hit another car. Okay, And
what I did next left me in shock. And he
guesses as to what Joe did.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Did you call Panell's County Sheriff? No? Did you leave
a note on the car? No? Am I getting warmer colder?
I ran after the car, ran out all right.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
I talked about a couple of weeks ago that I
can't remember the last time I ran full speed.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
That was your time?
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Ran? And I ran, and I'm running in the car
and sped away.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
It was it was it was I don't know what
it's like. Did you catch him?
Speaker 3 (02:09):
No?
Speaker 1 (02:10):
It was in car. What were I gonna do? Fast?
They're going, You're pretty fast going.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
And I ran and I start running and in my head,
I'm going, holy crap, I'm running after this car like
they could shoot me. And while I'm thinking about all
the things that could happen, the car gets away and
I realized I didn't even look at their license plate,
Like I completely screwed the poocha on this. But I
thought to myself, like, what would have happened if I
did catch up to them, like what would I been
(02:35):
able to do?
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Nothing? Like they stop it? You just like wave your
first at him. Why Ion, why Iana? Hey step out
of that car.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
I guess the only god I really do to like
make the situation a little bit better would be to
go inside. You said it was where in your parking lot?
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yeah, it was in my apartment parking lot.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
I did end up going to the front office and
I was like, hey, I saw this, Okay, this is
the type of car. Oh, we'll handle it. I ran though,
has anyone ever been a vigilanti? Everyone ever fight crime
like that? Take the lot into their own hands? Eight
hundred and four ow N ninety three ninety three texted
at nine seven seven two zero. I mean, I was
just very impressed. I've had to do it several times.
Coming on my way home from downtown Saint Pete where
(03:15):
there was a guy who is driving in like one
of those like those souped up like fast and furious cars,
like those Japanese cars, and he was going across all lanes.
I'm like, okay, this is it's one o'clock in the morning.
He's either drunk or joy riding. So I dialed up
Panel's County sheriff and I'm like, hey, I'm on two
seventy five going northbound, and they busted him because there
(03:36):
was a cop that was already sitting on the bridge.
So I called it in and I literally saw the
bust happen in real time. And I've done it with
drunk drivers too, Like, if I suspect somebody of drunk driving,
I always call either Hillsboro or Panels or even Pasco County.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
That's pretty always always.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
I don't want to get hit by one of those
people and end up on the front page of the
paper like here lies so and so dead by drunk driver.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
No.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
I just feel like if I called the least, they
would have just been like, what happened, and I'd be like,
I saw a car hit another car and then they
drove away, and then they'd be like, Okay, I don't
know what we can do with that, but thanks.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Do you have the license plate? I think of the
license plate? Do you well? Do you do you remember
the making model of the car? No? Okay, well wait
wait do you yeah? Yeah? No, no, no I do.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
It was like it was like a goldish brownish Toyota.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
Okay, it doesn't. I don't think that helps that much.
But now you're good.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
I told them, I said, hey, if this person, because
it's in the visitor a lot, I'm assuming that person
might come and visit again.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Maybe, but you should have seen me.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Man.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
I wish that they had it on camera. They probably do,
I asked, No, they don't.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
They have it because it's in like a weird area
where they don't have cameras. Like you think that they'd
have cameras in the parking lot, but they don't.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
I just pictured Joe running full speeding crocs. I don't
know what crocks.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
I see it. It's like wear nikes.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
And I see it and I turn and I look
and just like something came over me to where my
body just wanted to run.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
It was it was.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
I was very impressed by myself. I didn't catch home.
I I didn't get the license plate. I really didn't
do anything to help, but I was just impressed that
that's your instinct, that's where it went to run at
Good for you. Oh yeah, you've learned a little bit
from our friend. Grant does this all the time. He's
a vigilantic Hey Marissa, oh hey, you fought cried one day,
(05:28):
did you I did.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
I have a video of it. Maybe I can send
it in one day, yeah someone, okay, I will. Yeah.
So I was outside of my job on lunch and
it was just like I sit outside by a publix
and there was people parking and I can see them,
and this guy went to park and he hit another car.
(05:52):
So the guy who got hit got out and he
was like an older guy had a walker, but his
walker was like still in his car. He took it
out after okay, And then they were arguing. The younger
gentleman who hit him pushed him down and he fell
straight back, like we're like just straight back, and the
guy hit his head. He was like seventy probably, and
(06:15):
I just sprinted over, like you did, Joe. I sprinted
over and I just yelled at that guy in his face.
And I tell you, I'm five to one. So I
don't know what I was going to do either, but
I definitely told him what's up. I said, you don't
hit as an old man, And you know, we made
sure we got someone to get. The cops called in
(06:36):
the older gentleman. He did not press charges, but the
ambulance came and checked him out and stuff. He brought
me flowers for saving him the other you know. Yeah,
so oh he was just like denying, like oh he
was he did this and he did that, and I said, no,
(06:58):
you you just don't hit an old man like you
hit his car, like just calm down and stuff, and like,
I don't know, just I don't know why he did that.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
That's what.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
I listened to you every day. I love you, guys.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
I love you so much. I watch you when you sleep.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
All right, yeah, yes, thank you for calling and you
call him whenever you want.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
Okay, Okay, I love you guys.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Carrie, last one. I gotta make it quick, okay, but
this is a good enough story. I can't move on.
Your car got stolen and you ran after that car.
Speaker 6 (07:37):
I literally I heard it and going down the driveway,
it was backing up and I took off running after him,
and they there was a ups chuck driver. It was
like in a community and there was a ups chuck
driver that was stopping them, preventing them from they couldn't
get around and I was so close. I was just
barely and then they end up getting around him. So yeah,
(08:00):
but I remember thinking, oh my gosh, Cary, you're gonna
get shot, Like what are you doing?
Speaker 5 (08:04):
So at the cops ended up getting the car back
right three days later.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Yea, in your head your while I'm running, I go,
what what am I even thinking?
Speaker 1 (08:13):
What am I going to do?
Speaker 6 (08:14):
I know exactly that's what I was thinking too. I'm like,
what am I going to do? I was thinking, I'm
just going to try to jump in the.
Speaker 5 (08:20):
Back and I didn't know what I was going to do,
but dang it, I was gonna try. I wasn't gonna
just let it go it with a brand new car.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
How did you feel after it, by the way, because
my knees hurt today.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
Oh my gosh. Yeah, I was. I never run so yeah,
it was. It was. I was. I was pretty shocked
at myself that I could. I could run so fast.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
I can get moving, but not today. If if someone
hits a car today, I might I might limp
