Speaker 1 (00:00):
There was a friend of yours, right, was it a
friend that posted the thing about the word.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Oh yeah, my friend Reggie. He posted on Facebook the
other day that his daughter she plays I think it's
a flag football, and he's like, you know, I'm you know,
happy that my daughter's into all these sports, but honestly
picking her up from it, taking her to it, going
out after a celebrate, He's I'm happy it's over. And
then he's like, I received a text message saying, Dad,
(00:27):
we want we're going to the playoffs. And he literally
said he was on the couch crying because he's like,
oh my god, now we got to do more sports.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
I uh, I gotta be honest, I am. I obviously
I don't have kids, but like when my brother Luke
played baseball, I would see my parents always do that.
Like my dad specifically would be the honest one. My
mom was always like, no, it's amazing, especially because my
(00:55):
youngest brother, he's the youngest, so it was kind of
like my parents last time kids sports and everything. But
my dad, I know, was rooting for it all day.
Eight hundred and four, nine ninety three, ninety three. If
you've got a kid in sports, do you root for that,
Like do you secretly root for your kids to fail?
(01:19):
Like I don't want to win this game.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
I don't want to drive all the way to Lakeland.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Yeah, come on, really another one? We got to extend
the stay like you know, and right Orlando, Like, I
don't want to do this anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
I think of like when I play travel basketball, play
AAU and I think of my parents and just having
to wake up on Saturday mornings, Sunday mornings and travel
to these basketball games or even have to buy hotel rooms. Oh,
I can only imagine my mom probably was like, oh,
I help you lose.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
The worst is with travel baseball, though, Joe, Oh my god,
if you made it the championship Sunday, you'd sometimes have
to play like three or four games in a day.
And you know that, especially if you're playing during football
season or whatever. It could be your dad just wants
to go home and watch the football game.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
He has.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
No I'll never be anybody's parent because just thinking of
this and my Saturday and Sundays I have to sit
at a baseball game or a basket Oh no, you're
not ruining all weekend.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Sorry, Hey, who's this?
Speaker 4 (02:19):
It's Jennifer.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Hey, Jennifer, Jennifer, do you have kids?
Speaker 4 (02:23):
See it again?
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Do you have kids?
Speaker 4 (02:26):
I do?
Speaker 1 (02:27):
So. When they're playing sports and everything, do you secretly
like kind of hope that they lose so you don't
have to keep going to the games and stuff if
they're like in the playoffs? Yeah, you would never tell
them that.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Though, right never.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
I'm supported.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Yeah, but what's going through your head? Like, you know,
when they win? Are you kind of like Jesus come
on another day?
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Right?
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, another Saturday morning.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
How early are those games? Hey?
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Day eight? A?
Speaker 1 (03:00):
M oh my god. So no sleeping in it all.
But the joy that they have while they're playing is
probably great. Or do they ever hit a point to
where they're like, ah, mom, I just want to quit
the team.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Whendn't they get up in the morning? Do I have
to go?
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Yeah, I was there too. I was there too. This
is kind of funny, And thank you for calling in. Jason.
You love it though. So you do taekwondo with your kids, right?
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (03:30):
Well he started five years ago and I used to
travel a lot for work, but I always was I
always wanted to be the dad that's helped coach and
everything else. He's done soccer, he's done lots of different things. Yeah,
but traveling. He was like, I want you to do
it with me, and I was like, I'm in. So
I've been doing it for about a year with him.
That's and we both took call him several Sophie. So
it was awesome.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
See that that's badass.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Go ahead.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
My wife. On the other hand, that you're talking about
those stuff, you can tell you ain't really all into it,
like the way I am.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Do you since you were a coach, did you ever
notice you know, people like your wife, like the other
parents where they're like, are you kidding me? Like another game?
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Oh man, it's even works. Sometimes you see his parents
out there and they're not even watching it. Their kids
are looking for them to watch them, and they're just
sitting there having their dad talking on their phone doing
all these things like are you even here? Like you're
ruining your just all for your kids, like they just
want they want to show up for you.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Okay, parents, if you're going to the games, watch the games.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
You can complain about it later.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
My mom used to get really mad at my dad
for that too, because my mom would be like, do
you not notice Luke like he runs out to the
field and then he immediately looks at you to see
if you're watching, or like if your kid makes a
good play like he did.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
You see it? No man, I was tweeting, uh uh, honestly.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
It's crazy, Jason, thank you for being such an active
dad and a good dad. And why Taekwondos sign song
sound there you go it is. It's my taekwondo zim. Jason,
You're the greatest. Well listen. I hope this is a
p s A though. At least, uh, don't let your
kids know, please, that'd be breaking hearts.
