Speaker 1 (00:00):
Do you have a work voice? We're live on ninety
three to three FLZ. It is The Joe Show, and
Ashley brought this up to me yesterday. She was talking
about her sister Megan. What does Megan do for a living?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
She works for Discover, the credit card company. She is
the person you call when you have a person in
your family that's deceased and you're calling about their credit
card accounts.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
So you said that Megan has a work voice.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah, she has that that work voice that you change
on when you're going into like a professional setting like
I have on right now.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
I'm assuming she's getting the kids ready for school and
everything right now.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
No school's out, and see she's out sleeping.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
What time is it. I don't want to, like, I'll
tek her to see if she's up.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Yes, listen, you guys got to understand Megan's kind of awesome.
I never want to make her mad.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
She might respond, it's seven.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
She's a good mom too.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Could you give an example?

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Yeah, I don't want to take it.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Sorry, it's kind of like a professional code switch, because
we've talked about switching in the past. It's it's for
example and for us on the show and Terry. I'm
sure you can attest you be like, hey, this is
the Joe Show. What did you want to say?

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Service? Oh real quick, I'm gonna put you on hold.
Just make sure that your radio's down and.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Wait.

Speaker 5 (01:11):
You have like yeah, I have like the work voice
for here, and then my other work voice is teaching kids,
so it's like a kid voice.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
What is your kid voice? It's like, oh, sweetie, Like
that's so silly of you.

Speaker 5 (01:23):
Like it's like you're the higher pitch and you're just
like very sarcastic, which you're like covering up, like oh,
like that was really bad, but like, oh that's okay,
like two thumbs up.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Gotta have a customer service voice.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
You don't have a work voice?

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Yes, Hi, Yes, I was just calling because I need
two of my tires change. Do you know how much
it's gonna cost? Thank you so much? Can I schedule
appointment today? I appreciate it, have a great day, Thank you.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
I have a work voice.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Let's hear it. When you get on a call, say,
somebody's calling you and it's you, gotta be very professional.
Do you change it? You're just like, hey, it's Joe,
what's up?

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Do you Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
You don't have a word I've ever heard your like
customer service voice. I wouldn't even call it a work voice.
I would call it just a customer service voice.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
When we celebrated our fifth year anniversary of the show,
I went back and I listened to a lot of
like old shows, and.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
I talk like this a lot of time. Why are
you yelling? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
I think I had like a problem. I think I
was probably just like really nervous. But I do know
like I think I talked like myself.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Oh yeah, I don't think you've ever switched a tone
of your voice when you're on the phone, right M.

Speaker 6 (02:27):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Now I gotta pay attention. I really don't because Jane
and Terry they one hundred percent do I know.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
I do. But do you I want to see something
real quick? Hold on, yeah, answering, let.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
Me see this.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Jack, can you come in here real quick? Let's see
something real quick.

Speaker 1 (03:02):

A great job, getting really quick to the point. I
hope uh are quick with you?

hard for Joe to do it in the moment, but
we have seen him Ashley where he'll be either on
the phone with an insurance person an appointment and you're like, Hi,
this is Joe well and you know it's not. It's
not Joe Carbono either when he talks about or it's Joseph. Yeah,
it's Joseph. Or he's like, my reservation might be under Joey,

(03:53):

Speaker 6 (04:12):

Speaker 9 (04:13):
You actually have to kind of be professional when you're
talking to people that are yelling at you.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
What do you mean? What do you do?

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Manager Applebee's man, and people come in there mad.

Speaker 9 (04:26):
Well when they're sitting down and they don't get their
food right, or they have a bad day, and then
they want to take it out on you.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
It's not fair.

Speaker 6 (04:37):
No, it's not.

Speaker 9 (04:38):
But it's the name of the game in the restaurant business. Yet.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Wow, Well, thank you for doing what you do. I
hope that people at least show you a little bit
of Imagine.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Someone yelling at you think I will bring that to
your table. I'm so sorry.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Also, imagine yelling at someone your food. Yeah, that's a
lot of power. That has a lot of power, Jennifer,
that is so interesting.

Speaker 9 (05:01):
I went from a cook to a manager, so yeah,
and then talking to people. It's kind of a different thing.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
So yes, Jennifer, which Applebee's do you work at?

Speaker 9 (05:13):
I now work at the one in South Lakeland. I
used to work as the one in Plant City.

he's not dropping that bombs off the air, he's dropping
that bom That's true.

Speaker 1 (06:17):

the show. It's just it would be a little bit
more colorful with our vocabulary.

but once it's don't like the food stuff. These people
like you, you've taken care of you, You're gonna put
a needle in them. I mean, you could mess that up.
At any point, I'll.

Speaker 7 (08:08):
Be like running back in the hallway because I was
just coding a patient. A patient family members yelling at
me because I didn't bring them a diet pepsi on time.

I'm sorry, we don't have diet pepsi. We only have
diet coke. Is that okay?

Speaker 2 (08:25):
No it's not.

Speaker 7 (08:28):
But yeah, it's like they think that you are their
only patient and the only priority. So you have to
just keep a straight face though for the whole twelve
hours and yell and scream when you get in the car.
