Speaker 1 (00:00):
We got our head coach, Martin Us to be presented
(00:02):
interview presented here by ACME again the local foods, local flavors,
as we welcome in our delawrehead coach coach mart Ingles
being coach. A tough one here at home, seventy eight
to seventy four, tough loss here to direct. So I
just want to again, we went over your keys of
the game early on, you know one and Don's stuff
like that, and you checked a lot of those boxes.
But what stood out to you here in a tough
loss at home?
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Yeah, I mean I think, sorry, I think the the
start of the game, defensively, they went up eleven nothing.
I believe we had to call time out, you know,
really challenged our group to be you know, tough defensively,
and then we dug ourselves a whole, you know, proud
of how we battle back. The zone was really good
to us in the second half and took the lead,
and then you know, we just kind of go in
and out of really digging in on the defensive end,
and they scored seventy eight points. A couple you know, turnovers,
(00:46):
a couple misshots, We got some good looks. We just
missed it, but then they got confident. Some of the
out of bounds under defensive possessions are not you know,
clinic esque, and you know we are where we are.
This is a group that you know has got three
three basketball four basketball games. I guess guaranteed we got
to stay together. We're in a tough spot, tough rut.
We got to try to help him and find a
(01:07):
way to get a get a win.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
On Saturday, coach Sean Camden gets his fourth foul with
thirteen eighteen to go and we're down two. You obviously
had to take him out there, and I thought you
did a good job of managing that. Unfortunate when he
got back in we were down the nine.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, it's a tough spot. You know, back to back
games worth key. Guys are getting a fourth foul, you know,
midway through a second half. I mean, I'm a believer
in playing guys with three fouls, And you know, he's
got to be a little He's got to be smarter there,
just like Isaiah's got to be smarter in the game
last week. Can't get a fourth foul puts us in
a tough spot. But losing him, not having him his physicality,
his presence, you know, just his offensive ability really hurt
(01:45):
us because we were in a good we were in
a good, really good little rhythm with his own and
scoring the basketball, and just needed to needed to have
him out there.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Coach, I loved your strategy when you went to the
open side pick and roll in the short roll with
Niles and even make an emory on a dunk. Four
straight scores we had on that point. Great coaching by you.
I don't know, yeah, you did. You know, we got
some good ball screens.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
They're getting downhill their respect in Isaiah. I thought him
and cav made some good decisions in the ball screen.
We're rolling hard. We'll take those layups and dunks any
day of the week. But you know, they you know,
they put pressure on you thought we did a pretty
good job trying to figure out how to score when
they put the five man on Niles. That's a little
bit of a well teams have done to us, and
it's kind of stalled us. So just got to find
(02:30):
ways to continue to manufacture points.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
And he talks about making the switches down there in
the second half, and you've just found success there on
the defensive side of the floor. He talked about defense
all week and over the weekend, we talked about it
before the game. He talked about at the Coach Show
on Monday, what did you think of your team's physicality
and defense overall here today that you can carry forward
and what was kind of the message there after?
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Yea, I mean not good enough. You know, you're not
good enough to win a college basketball game on your
home floor. And thought, there's segments where we battled and
we're tough and physical, and but some of the possessions
earlier where we're getting switches and the big guys are
gett on our guards or scoring around the basket, you'reletting
some guys get confident, and you know it just wasn't
you wasn't enough. We're putting our guys in a tough
(03:08):
spot too with transition defense, whether it's bad shots or
turnovers on that end, we're coming down, we're having to
switch some stuff. We don't have our matchups that we
would like, and then you know, we're trying to dig
hard from the perimeter. But they were able to really
effectively score around the basket.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
And then coach here just to finish on what's the
key for you guys now going forward again. It's all
about getting Hut the right time for games left to
him and you know, just around the corner there, what's
the key for you guys to find that success here
in a week or two. Yeah, we just got to
stay together.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
You know, we got to come back tomorrow and watch
some film and digest some of the lapses tonight and
we got a quick turnaround. We played at four o'clock
against a really good Hofster team at Senior Night. Obviously
want to send Tron, Niles and uh Eric out on
a high note. But we got to stay together as
hard as it is in this moment and with this adversity,
got to be able to stay together and be ready
to go tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Coach appreciate, Thank you very much, mrk for it.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
I know all I'm ready to go.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
