(00:00):
Reading over the questions, Wow,sent you questions because I have no idea
want I'm asking. He sent mesomething that you might want to talk about.
Oh, I wish you would havesent me that. Yes, I'm
always prepared. I don't know wherehe got the information. Maybe Yeah,
they were like, let's make upsome questions that Fink might ask him.

(00:23):
I greatly appreciate your time. Iknow you've got a lot going on right
now. Dance counting down the biggestdance songs in the country. This is

(00:45):
America's Dance thirty. MK. Welcomeback to America's Dance thirty. It's great
seeing you again. Yeah, I'mback again, back again, and congratulations
on another number one would take mychance? Thank you, bro. Never
expected that, really expected no,because you know what, because I've been
I've been working on so much newstuff and I don't really follow once my

(01:07):
songs are out. I might havesaid this before. I don't really follow
them too much because I don't Idon't want to be hung up on how
was my song doing, because I'mnot in it for that, you know
what I mean. So I justbeen moving on and he told me the
other day, I'm like, whatand I didn't know what I did.
It was even the charts. Wow. Really yeah, no idea, no
idea. So I'm just curious howfar are you ahead? Like how many

(01:30):
songs do you have banked right now? Uh? Four? Maybe four?
Oh? Yeah, A lot.I have a lot coming out this year.
I have a lot I have Ihave My next one is with ty
Dallas sign I saw that. Ihave one with Jesse Ware, I have
one with Vince's Culture. I haveanother one with Annamal England. I have
one with Jazzy and one with ElizaRose. Wow. So twenty twenty four

(01:57):
is going to be the year ofMK oh yeah. Yeah, And I've
been talking to Dom about doing anotherone, so it could be another MK
dom dollar record. And it's funnyyou bring that up. I was actually
going to ask you that later. When you're collabing with an artist and you
have incredible success, do you guystalk about doing more music or is it
usually just a one off? Well, it depends what it is, you

(02:19):
know, like if it's like kindof my more of my friends I work
with, like Dom and Sonny,Yeah, we talk about it, Like
Sonny and I we talk about allthe time. So Sunny and I we're
doing another one for sure, andI just messed dom like a week.
I said, Hey, do Ido another song? He said, yeah,
why not? You're really not tooI'm like, you're right, and
that's incredible that you're also going tobe returning to roots with Annabelle England as

(02:42):
well. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean she called me one day
and she said, Mark, Ihave an idea that a song I wrote.
Can I send it to you?And she said, I'm like,
this is crazy. She said,do you want to do it with me?
I'm like, yep. She sentit the parts and I already I
pretty much finish it I didn't sendit the finish version yet, but it's
pretty much done. Wow. Well, we'll talk all about that later,
but I can't wait to find outabout how Take My Chance was born,

(03:06):
especially since you've got some incredible powerhouseson the credits and I couldn't believe who
the vocalist was when I found out. But we'll talk about that coming up.
You know, we got to knowyou last time when Rhyme Dust went
number one with Thinky's first. Nowlet's get to know MK a little better

(03:29):
with Thinky's favorites. Oh god, this is probably where your manager sent you
questions. Yeah, before you getto that. The thing is, like,
I don't listen to a lot ofmusic other than when i'm DJM.
I swear I don't like I justI because I DJ so much, I

(03:51):
produce so much, So I don'tlike a lot of people listen to musical
for enjoyment. I don't. Ireally don't unless I'm listening to like eighties
eighties alternative, that's my favorite genresento that. So I don't really have
a song I'll put on like,oh man, this song is crazy,
just doesn't happen. Well, letme delete the first three questions that I
was going to ask you. Ohno, no, no, no,

(04:13):
no, no, okay. Ican still answer some of the questions though,
but that one. I don't reallyhave a favorite song. I listen
to you right now now. Youmentioned that you don't really like to listen
to music when you're not producing andworking. What what is one of your
favorite things to do when you're notright? Yeah, okay, I listen
to music when I'm working and producing. I listen to other so all the
time. That's why I get inspired. Oh so you do listen to a

(04:35):
lot of other stuff, Yeah, but not like not on purpose. I'll
just kind of I'll just search,I'll just dig and I won't dig by
a name. I won't. I'lljust kind of go through my promos.
Even if I go see someone onINSTAGRAUMD, I'm like, let me go
to a page and I look atsee what they play, and then I
just go down a rabbit hole. Was it eighties that you mentioned was your

(04:57):
favorite genre? Yeah, I canlisten eighties. Do you have a favorite
song from the eighties? Anything byDefeschi Mode. Oh? Yes, yeah,
I thought it was going to belike Bonnie Tyler, Like you know,
sometimes I will listen to it ifit comes on because it brings me
back to when I was a teenager. Absolutely list of Like I remember I

(05:20):
was on my dad's house, thissong came on, so stuff like that.
Well, this is going to bea question that a lot of people
cop out when I ask, becauseI love finding out, you know,
what an artist's favorite song of theirown is, And almost every time the
artist goes, well, I can'treally answer that because they're like my children,

(05:40):
and that's like picking a favorite.I think that's a cop out because
when I had two fur kids,I could tell you whom I could tell
you my favorite child. Oh yeah, for sure, Yeah, for sure.
Yeah, so I can say myfavorite song. Yeah. Do you
have a favorite MK song? Seventeen? Yes, with Carla Monroe. So
what makes it your favorite? Imean, I still play it today.

(06:01):
It's just it just it works,It's it's kind of it's kind of timeless,
my opinion. I have cooler songsthat I have. You know,
if I say, hey, what'syour coolest song you made? I probably
say Burning, But my favorite areseventeen. It's just the way it was
put together. Yes, it soundssonically, everything kind of just it just
it just fits perfectly together. Everythingabout it was great. Now do you
have a least favorite MK song?I have a lot a Oh my god.

(06:29):
One it was a remix I didfor for Paul and Elton John.
Don't go breaking my Heart. That'sleast favorite. Elton John called if I
did. He said, Mark, this is not good. Oh you're kidding
me? Got yeah, yeah,he even said it wasn't good. I'm
like, you're you're probably right, but nothing like I'm like your Repaul was

(06:49):
a bad idea anyway, so whatever, So it was them, it wasn't
you. Yeah, that's why Iwas bad. You got me to work
with Oh my god, that isso is so is it awkward between you
and Elton? Now? I fuckedhim since, but I mean he won't
remember. Obviously he won't remember. No, it's not I mean that happens.

(07:11):
You know, that is hilarious.I've done remixes where labels come back
and say, no, we don'tlike it, can you do it again?
Which, you know, the biggestone that was that got recalled was
Nightcalls pushed your feeling on no crap. Yeah, the first mix got turned
down. Wow. Then I didthe double Doom because I use I liked
the song, so I used allthe vocals and had some piano in it

(07:32):
and just kind of made it likea cool like the house song. And
they're like no, and I was. I was mad. I'm like,
all right, well, you knowwhat, I'm not using any vocals.
Then I just doing a dub ofit. I'm doing a dub a banger,
but unbelievable. What is your leastfavorite thing about what you do about

(08:01):
being in this industry? And youbetter not say talking with Brian Fink.
Just just the travel part. It'sweird because it's a hater. It's a
love hate thing. I love.I love traveling. I love but sometimes
you're just like, oh, I'mnot have to go get on a plane
again, right I said, wakeup at five am to go get on
a plane? Ah? Man,you know it's like that part is the

(08:24):
you know I could do it out. You know, it's twenty twenty four.
You would think we could transport atthis point or or click our heels
three times and be where we needto be. I know, I'm sure
there'll be some holograms going on thenext five years. Absolutely. Now,
do you have a favorite singer thatyou've worked with? I think Clem.
Who's that Clem? She's the onewho take a chance? Yeah, yeah,

(08:48):
she's She's she's my favorite right now. And it's not so much that
her vocals are like like she's thisgreat singer. She's a really good singer,
but that's not why you know sheshe riight fantastic. She uses her
voice the right way, doesn't overdoesn't overdo it. She just knows exactly
what to do. And as aproducer, that's what you want. As

(09:09):
a vocalist. You don't want.I don't want to have to tell the
vocals what to do. I've beenin session's a lot of times where I've
had to either vocal producer or bringinganother vocal producer to get the vocals right.
I like I like her. She'sa one a one man shop.
Yes, she she is such apowerhouse. I got turned on to her.
I want to say. It washer song with dom Dalla where she
sounded amazing on and I was like, no, miracle or saving up?

(09:33):
Wait? Is that her on?That's not her on saving up? Is
it? I think it is?Oh my god, wow. No.
He had another one with her thatwas like it had a very old school
kind of renegade master sound to it. Any Oh was that her? Yeah?
No, yeah, no yeah, miracle maker, miracle maker. Yeah

(09:54):
yeah, yeah that's what it was. Sorry when you just said miracle it
didn't it didn't hit? Yeah?Yeah. Well. Finally, in Finky's
Favorites, in honor of Take MyChance, going number one, what is
your favorite thing to take a chanceon? Oh it was NFTs too soon?

(10:15):
Too soon? Was it enough?Teas? My favorite thing to taking
a chance on is playing new songsthat aren't out yet that I made,
you know, testimous if they work, and then a lot of times they
do work. Sometimes they don't work, but they never work. Don't work
in a way where like oh God, get this off quick. It doesn't
work in a way like I'm notthe way I'm used to crowds reacting to

(10:35):
my songs. So if I playit and the crowds is kind of like,
I'm like, Okay, that's notthat's not ready yet, that's not
the one. Well, let's talkabout a song that has reacted amazingly.
You know. I was blown awayto find out that Clementine Douglass was on
the vocals and that Jingin was apart of it as well, and camel

(10:56):
Fat was also a part of it. Yeah, no, it was Mike
from Cama Fat. And apparently Mikemade this song a long time ago,
stuck a lot, like it's beensitting around for years years. And then
I got it through the Pesch, the president of Sony, and he was
like, Mark, this song isa smash. And I heard him like,
oh, let me see what Ican do with it, And so

(11:16):
I started working on it and puttingmy variation to it because I liked the
fact I wanted to sound because thesong was already pretty old. I'm like,
I can make this sound very nineties, you know, put the funky
drummer loop in it, the tambourine, and just kind of give it the
whole old school vibe. And that'skind of what I went for. So
how different was your version from theoriginal. The thing is, I don't

(11:39):
remember, because I had I hadthe song almost a year before it came
out. Wow, So I've beensitting on it, working on it and
wasn't sure what to do with it, and worked on it. Then the
label had had ideas for me todo and change, so we went back
and forth a little while. Andplus I was touring at the time,
so I didn't have a full setthree days to just dive into the song.

(12:00):
It was like, work on it, you know, for a couple
of hours for you get on theflight and then also finish this other song
and finish his remix. So ittook a while to get it done and
get it right. And then Ialso find out the right time to put
it out, because I think betterwas out of time with Teddy Swims.
I mean, we thought like Let'sget out in the summer. It feels
like a good sum song. Andis Clementine not on the main listing because
of her release schedule? Uh?No, she's not really. She's never

(12:22):
really bothered about that about her name, you know, being a feature artist.
So she's she's cool with just writingit, getting writing credit, get
her publishing, and she's good togo. That's awesome, which she is
so amazing. Well, something Ialways love finding out, especially with you,
is how many different versions there areof a song from when you guys
start working on it all the tweaking. Yeah, maybe maybe twenty Oh wow,

(12:46):
and that's is that just you oris that also when Camel Fat started
working on it? No, that'sjust me? Wow, man, unbelievable.
Well, congratulates on another number one. I would say, what's next
for MK, but you already letus know how many songs you've got coming

(13:07):
up? No obsession? Obsession isthe next one. It's like, that's
probably my new favorite. And I'mexcited for this one to come out because
and guess who wrote it? Whowrote it? Clem stop? And is
that the one with ty dollar sign? Yeah? Wow, Yeah, I
saw the video that you posted itsounds like a smash already. Yeah.
Yeah, it's gotten more of adeep house vibe. It's not it's not

(13:28):
like you don't put on to belike, oh my god, it's like
a deep house banger. Yeah.I can't wait to hear the full mastered
version of it. Congratulations on that, Congratulations on another number one. Can't
wait for twenty twenty four to bethe year of MK. Thank you so
much for your time with us onAmerica's Dans thirty. Oh man, man

(13:50):
anytime? Anytime? Were there anyquestions that your manager gave you that I
didn't ask? Oh? Favorite yourfavorite producer? Oh who's your favorite producer?
Malpee? Dude Malpe? Yeah,he's sick all day. He's He's
like, I'm very impressed with him, very very impressed. And I don't
get impressed easy by producers, butwith him, I'm very impressed. Is

(14:13):
there going to be an MK Malpecollab? We haven't even we haven't talked
about it, but who knows,But who knows. He's very very talented,
dude. I know that you've gota lot of stuff going on,
So thank you so much for yourtime. My pleasure, America's Dancer.
