We are live at the DMAs withside Piece. Welcome to Miami Music
We Wow, that was really goodenergy, So what's up everybody? Yeah,
I thought that was in my rider, that your guy's energy would be
a lot higher. What the hellhappened? We wanted to kind of see

(01:30):
where you were gonna start, andthen so that, you know, we
wanted to give you the you know, make you feel good about yourself and
your energy. And then yeah,I'm trying to focus on getting the starbursts
open. So in the middle ofan interview, he is popping a starburst
in his mouth. Excuse me,you guys have these available, I'm gonna
eat them. So share with everybodyhow the side Piece project came together,

(01:52):
because of course you guys have yoursolos as well. Really, honestly,
wasn't like one day talking on Twitterside to make a FaceTime and we're talking
and was like, oh, itwould be funny to make like a side
project called side project, and thenDylan goes, what about side peace,
And I swear to god, that'sit. That story. It was like
one hour's worth of time and thatwas Mike dropped done. And then how
do you decide between what's gonna bea side piece track or what's gonna be

(02:14):
a solo track? Well, Imean we think early on when we talked
that during that combo, he madeit sound like it was really but we
did talk a little bit more like, hey, we want to try to
do We both were really passionate abouttrying to make a tech house project and
what we wanted to do and makingit proper and stick to that. And
early on we were very like,we didn't tell anybody it was us.
We kind of just we wanted themusic to speak for itself and and so

(02:35):
it kind of it was a sideproject, but it really was just for
us to express what we wanted tomake. And then we were so fortunate
that it's gotten as big as ithas. I love your guys energy,
not only separate, but together aswell. How has Miami Music Week been
for you, guys? Man?We posted this earlier, We went out,
had our party, then we endedup at Benny Bnossi spinning vinyl,
and then we went to Factory Townand then we woke up. We're like,

(02:55):
oh, the song came out todayand now talk is out and now
we're here, so hell hell ofweek so far. It's like you sat
on the toilet the baby came out, you know, like, yeah,
our song's out. Surprise, it'sso funny, So loud Luxury was hanging
out earlier. I talked to themtwo weeks ago. But it's airing this
weekend. It's so hard to keeptrack of what's going on. Jeez,
yeah, it's ridiculous. It's ridiculous. Letter organize this so we all need

(03:20):
personal assistant. Whose fault is this? I am filling out a comment card?
So what's next for Sidepece Man?I mean, we're about to hit
this really cool tour. We're playingkind of back to the roots more like
just the real clubs around the Statesand then hitting Europe in the summer.
Right, it's we got a newsong with disco lines coming out in a
couple of months. We have anew song with patular has dropped today or

(03:42):
yesterday last night. And we haveso much new music. We're working on
an album possibly as well, andso hey, you know, just expect
more of us. We're gonna notlet you ever live your life without side
piece in your life, ever, your life is not complete without a side
piece. Thank you so much foryour time at the medium. Hey,
it's our new slogan ten percent.Wait wait now, wait a second,

(04:13):
My day has gotten ompteenth amount betterbecause son A Hollo is with us at
the Edma's Welcome to Miami. I'mvery happy to be here. It is
so good seeing you. How hasMiami Music Week been for you so far?
I just flew in yesterday. Iwent to a party and I had
a great time. I gotta sayI didn't sleep much, but still happy

(04:36):
to be here. But that's prettymuch a give in for Miami Music Week.
You know that going in, whatis the first thing you do when
you get to Miami? Is itresting? So you know? No?
What's that area called with all theart and the graffiti, Windwood or something.
I like walking around there and justlike people watch getting a sense of
the Miami lifestyle and stuff. Ifeel like I haven't fully figured out this

(05:00):
place, but I'm intrigued by it. It said the same thing about you.
It hasn't figured out Sonola yet.Let's talk about Glow. It is
such an amazing song. How didit come together with Aura? She dm
me and she was like, let'slet's make a song together. And uh,
I love her voice. She sendover a lyric and I have an

(05:24):
obsession with light and glow and sparkles. And vibrancy, you know. So
when she set the word glow,I was like, that's it. We're
going to write a song about, you know, glowing, seeing someone glow.
That's all I want to do withmusic. I want to make people
glow, you know, and youdo that. How long ago did you
just start working on with her?Oh? A few months ago. It
happened really quick. Wow, itwas really quick. Now, let's be

(05:46):
one hundred. We were talking aboutthis beforehand. As an artist, is
it tough when you know a songis good and it might not be doing
as well as it should be.As an artist? Is that tough?
I just try to be grateful forbeing where I am, and it's This
is a could be a very longconversation, but all I want to say
is that I've I think I've hada lot of songs that could have been

(06:09):
really successful. But I think alot of a lot of it is timing
and and the right moment, theright place to right energy in the air.
I'm just gonna keep putting out musicthat I'm passionate about. I've never
been good at chasing a hit songor I just want to do what I
feel is right and if that alignswith the radio world, that's great,

(06:30):
and if it doesn't, I'm stillgonna be doing my thing. So it's
all love in the end. ButI really appreciate you for supporting and feeling
the depth of the song. AndI'm not the only one. I mean,
you know how good you make everybodyfeel. Kennedy was just telling you
how good she felt when she sawyou for the first time. Song Holo,
it's always great seeing you. Thankyou for your time with us.

(06:53):
Thank you. I want to sayone more thing. The funny thing is
like, sometimes a song doesn't reallydo well on like radio or streaming,
but then for some reason, allmy fans like DM me all these stories
about you know, what they're goingthrough, about their families, about their
grandma passing away or anything. It'sthe funny thing. It's like, really,

(07:14):
sometimes the song doesn't perform well, but it has an insane impact on
my fans more than any other moresuccessful songs. It's really weird. It's
like, it's like that's a differentthing. As a radio programmer. I
probably shouldn't say this, but honestly, that's all that really matters. Yeah,
I like to believe that too,but still I'm gonna be grateful for

(07:34):
you and everyone who supports the records, and you know, I'm gonna be
doing this till I die, Sowe'll probably be here in like five years.
We're gonna be hanging out in Miamiwith our walkers when we're seventy.
Son Elo, thank you for beingwith us. We're alive at the DMAs

(08:00):
the incredible vavo. Jesse Alden, how are you guys good? How are
you? I am doing great? It is insane the tour that you guys
have been on, Jesse share withus. Just some of the shows you've
done recently. Oh, Australia, cancuon spring Break, just came from Dallas
right before this, so it's beenwild. What is it like being in

(08:22):
Australia? Was this your guys firsttime in Australia and performing at a country
concert? Now it wasn't our firsttime. We went last November and I
actually feel personally if we're very athome because everyone thinks am Australian anyway,
Even the Australians think I'm Australian, which is crazy. But yeah, performing
at a country festival is it's wild, Like the fact the fact country fans

(08:43):
are crazy and it's so cool tosee like die hard country fans loving our
music and like being fans of ours. And we were talking about this because
you know, you've started the EDMmovement, but being at a country festival
playing the remixes looking out at thecrowd, Oh, what is that feeling
like? It's crazy? Especially atthis last festival, seems see where you're

(09:05):
at. Chase Rice, a countryartist, brought us out on stage just
seeing country roads, which we bombed. But that's fine. You know,
there's like fifty thousand people in frontof you, and people are like as
soon as he announced us, everyone'sjust cheering, and it's like, that's
the biggest crowd we've ever sit infront of and it's a pure country festival
and they welcomed us with open armswith the EDM. It's just amazing.

(09:26):
Like the response, My most importantquestion is how did you go without pub
subs over there? Though? Ohthat was actually I was thinking about pupsum
every day of it. Jesse's answeringquestions off Mike, So let's get him
on the mic really quick. Goahead, Hey, what's up? This
is Jesse. I love pub subs. This is Jesse's first radio interviews.
So he doesn't know Jay Fish, doesn't know how this stuff works. He

(09:50):
newly named Jayfish. So what isnext from Bobo? We had this collab
with Jayfish coming out is I'm sorrywe have to support his rap carew Now
we have a lot of this timefor original music. We have a lot
of original music coming out very soon. We haven't coveredly released. Can't say
your release day right now, butit was happing sooner rather than later this

(10:13):
few months or so. I justlove that you can make fun of him
because you have to deal with itafterwards. Yeah, but I don't have
to. Yeah, Jesse all involvo. It is so amazing always seeing
you guys. Thank you for yourtime at the DMA. Thank you.
Brian. We're at the Damas Live. It is Brian Fink with the incredible

(10:45):
Gallantis. How are you, myfriend? I am good. I'm good.
How are you? I am good? And it's funny we were chatting
about how this might be one ofthe first times we've actually chatted in person
because everything has been through zoom.Is that the way it has been a
lot for you trying to catch upfrom the pandemic. Yeah, well,
yeah, I think it's been foreveryone, right, But yeah, it's

(11:05):
been a weird, weird moment. And how has Miami Music Week been for
you so far? Amazing? Ilove going here. It's kind of like
some sort of a family reunion typevibe. So it's good. Now let's
talk this new smash lighter with Getaand five seconds of Summer. How does
this come together? I don't knowbest answer ever, you know what,

(11:31):
I'm always working on so many songsat the same time, and sometimes it
takes a long journey. And theones that are always the hardest that actually
finished, you know, go overthe finish line, is the ones that
had like big acts like this onthem, because you have to find time
and everyone's gonna like it and finduh you know, who's who's gonna take

(11:54):
the lead, and you know, when does everyone have time? So yeah,
this this one, I wasn't surethat this one would ever come out,
to be honest, but this happensa lot. But what I love
about this journey is that everyone justworked on it when we had time,
and you know, like you know, and we have sent like things back

(12:15):
and forth and talk to each otherabout it, and it actually was a
very like organic process. And we'vetalked about that before. You know,
when you were doing your song withHaley Kyoko and with Steve Aoki about how
long the process was and you wereactually frustrated because you couldn't really finish it,
so it was tough. Now,how long ago did you guys start
working on Lighter? I think abouttwo and a half years ago. Wow,

(12:39):
that is unb and of course thisisn't your first time working with Geta.
Is it just an amazing experience justgoing through the entire process with everybody?
Yeah, I think it is.And it's uh I learn every time
I work with with with anyone, especially if it's someone that comes from a
different type of background, like likeMichael from Five Seconds of Summer. He's

(13:01):
an amazing producer, writer, anduh yeah, it was cool to work
with him. Now do you rememberand you might be asked this a lot,
so forgive me if you are,but do you remember the first moment
you thought about putting these signature Galantissound into your songs? I don't remember
the moment, but I do thinkthat it's it's super important to brand your

(13:26):
own music. So that's something thatI was always very you know, cautious
about and spent a lot of timeworking on that. So yeah, and
it's a great sound. I mean, the second you hear yeah or whatever,
you know, it's Galantis. Galantis. It is so awesome seeing you.
Thank you so much for catching upwith us at the DMA's thanks for

(13:48):
having me Answerties. Counting down thebiggest dance songs in the country America's Dance thirty
