(00:00):
That they got very interesting. Rightafter I jumped on the air on our
sister stations in Iowa, and aguy that I worked with in Iowa is
doing great work in Iowa, wastoasting their morning show. Right now is
Jeff Angelo, and he's joining uson the phone line. First off,
Jeff, how you feel and Iknows a lot of early mornings for you.
Yeah, basically got to readjust yourbody and try to get a nap

(00:22):
in the afternoon, because I amnot allowing early mornings to affect my night
life. You know. I likethe nightlife. I want a boogie on
the disco round, So going tokeep up the night life but also do
the early mornings as well. Welcometo what my world was like for five
years. Man. Yeah, itwas not an easy balance to make,

(00:42):
that's for sure. Obviously you wereoff the air this morning when she took
the stand. We knew she wasprobably going to get on the stand at
some point today based on the stuffI was reading first thing this morning.
And I guess what's your initial reactionon what we are hearing from her,
knowing she is technically under oath rightnow, It's all just silly. I

(01:07):
mean, this is really reality TVplaying out in real time, and we're
using taxpayers dollars to fund the justicesystem to do this. Really, in
the end, obviously everyone's going tobe talking about Stormy Daniels and going to
be talking about all the details, all the dirt, chief fishing and all
this kind of stuff. But it'sactually irrelevant to the case. But everything

(01:32):
that's going on, Emory is reallyirrelevant to the charge. This is just
all about, well, you've gota prosecutor that campaigned on getting Donald Trump.
He's created a charge that's dubious atbest to try to get him on
the stand. Now we get aparade of just sort of reality show witnesses.
You get Stormy, you get MichaelCohen, who, by the way,

(01:55):
is a disbarred lawyer, disbarred forlying, who's going to take an
oath and then and get on thestand and ask everybody to believe him.
And then apparently you're going to getanother playboy model. He's also had a
relationship with Donald Trump. None ofthis is relevant to the charge. The
charge is that first of all, paying hush money to Stormy Daniels so that
she wouldn't talk about her relationship withDonald Trump and embarrass him. That's not

(02:21):
actually illegal. You may find itdiscaseful, but that's not illegal. The
issue is these payments that were madethrough Michael Cohen to have Stormy Daniels not
talk about their relationship. And there'salready been testimony by Trump's business associates that

(02:42):
he did not order the payments himselfand maybe he wasn't even aware of the
payments. Well, that makes himinnocent. So all you have is reality
TV testimony for the next few days, very titillating to talk about, but
not actually relevant at all of thecase. There's been very little memory that's

(03:04):
relevant to the actual charge. Thisis a parad of witnesses making for some
entertaining stuff to talk about, gossip, the stuff to discussed. But there's
no way you can find Trump guiltyyet of doing anything wrong when there's absolutely
no testimony that would in fact indicatethat he that he authorized the falsification of

(03:31):
business records in order to hide thesepayments to cause people not to tell stories
that would have embarrassed his political campaignat the least, at the most make
his wife mad. That's the thingyou got to be worried about the most.
Well, Jeff Jeff angel is joiningus. I got to step in

(03:52):
because this is the next thing Iwant to talk about. I've talked about.
There's two points of interest here thathave nothing to do with him actually
getting put in jail. Number oneis you take him off the campaign for
like two months, like he's notable to campaign regularly in these swing states
that are going to decide the electionNovember for two months. Number two is
this could make him look like areally bad dude if the people that are

(04:15):
on the fence believe the testimony.I mean a lot of people are telling
me, we don't have to believeall the testimony, even if they're under
oath. They could be lying. And it's like I understand that, but
we don't all think the same inthis country, right, Like are you
going to go to somebody else andsay, hey, you know Stormy was
lying, right? You know MichaelCohen was lying on the stand, right,
And they're trying to further smear orstain his reputation for people to see

(04:40):
or to say he's not a gooddude. Are they accomplishing these things?
And do you think that this isgoing to actually make a difference in November?
Nope. I mean, if youalready think he's a bad dude,
you already know he's a bad dude. I mean, what are we hearing
that shocking or surprising? Right? You remember the Access Hollywood tape and what

(05:00):
he said in that tape, Righthe basically said, I'm I'm a bad
dude when it comes to women.Okay, we know this already, we
know this. And here's the thing, Emery, I feel like what goes
on in the national media these daysare a bunch of people who don't like

(05:23):
Trump's behavior, Okay, granted that, and spend all their time talking about
Trump's behavior as if that's going toimpact the vote. It's not. It's
not. Trump is going to win, and he's gonna win because economically the
nation was better off under him.Nobody's doing anything to control the southern border,

(05:47):
and you know, crime and thesecampus riots. Emery, this is
just a feeling I'm describing here, but I bet you most listeners would empathize
with it. You just feel likethings are out of control right now in
the country and nobody's in charge.I mean, I don't think Biden gives
the impression at all that he's incharge of the country as the president of

(06:10):
the United States. Well, andon top of that, on top of
that, though, Jeff he ittakes him what, well was it two
weeks really to address the protests, and just today he's really like speaking out
on anti Semitism. He's like aweek or two late on all this stuff.
Yeah, and look, we're allsmart human beings. We know what's
going on here. He's got anArab population in key swing states Michigan,

(06:33):
to name the most important one, that he didn't want to offend. He
didn't want to offend by speaking outloudly against anti Semitism and the destruction of
Israel. You talk about looking squishy, you talk about lack of a backbone,
you talk about a dude who isa politician first in a leader second.

(06:53):
That's Joe Biden Mealy mouthed it onanti Semitism because he might upset some
key swings. They know this,I mean, everybody seeing this and Emory
I really really really think after allthe said and done, this is what's
great about local talk radio and showslike yours. The national media is going
to obsess over Trump's behavior, Trump'sbehavior, Trump's behavior like we don't know

(07:17):
Trump at this point, everybody knowsTrump, we know him as a guy,
we know his character. The bottomline is that's not what people are
going to make a decision based on. They're going to make a decision based
on they felt better economically under Trump. The border was under control. He
didn't feel like the nation was justsur reeling, spiraling out of control.

(07:41):
And don't forget memory these we guyslike Biden, like they told us,
Oh, the grown ups are backin charge, and we're going to earn
the respect of people around the world, and we're we don't we look weak
on foreign policy under this guy who'sbeen in in policy for all these decades.
After Anna stand appeasing Iran, Imean it just these are the things

(08:05):
that are important to the American people. And the thing is that you had
a rich guy probably fooled around withbeautiful women. You don't have to morally
like it. But I don't thinkit's the thing that decides the election.
And I don't think what's coming outin this trial is shocked of anybody at
all on our phone lines. JeffAngelo joining us. He's a news talk
radio show host in Des Moines andreally is just a great political analyst love

(08:30):
talking politics with him and we're talkingabout this Trump trial. Is there anything
Jeff, that Donald Trump has donewith this gag order and anything that you
are seeing with the falsifying of thebusiness records that could imminently put him in
position where he might be incarcerated.I would say, if he continues the
gag order, violating the gag order, he could get put in jail.

(08:52):
And Emory, I'm in the campthat he actually wants that. I mean,
I feel like, you know,if you're Trump and you're the ultimate
outsider and you're making the case ofthe American people, the system just hates
you because you're going to go inand you're going to break up the system.
The system that fus frustrates the Americanpeople so much, the system where,

(09:16):
you know, a system where youcan't get anything done on inflation,
you can't get anything done on theborder, you can't get crime under control.
You just feel like the government's outof control. And you think that
Donald Trump is the dude that's goingto be the outsider that comes in and
cracks some heads. You know, you could definitely burnish his outsider credentials by

(09:37):
going to jail and basically saying, this is how bad the system hates me.
They've put me in jail. Iam the Republican candidate for president of
the United States. What kind ofbanana Republic have we become that you put
me in jail? And so Iactually think Emery wants to be put in
jail. I think the judge regretshaving done this. And of course now

(10:01):
a judge can't backtrack and go whata mistake I made. But you know,
Trump's gonna stay out there. He'sgoing to continue to say what he
says. They put him in jail. I actually think it benefits him.
I think he wants to go tojail on the gag order, and so
I think he's going to continue totry to bake this judge in actually putting

(10:22):
him in the whoscal Well, yeah, the one thousand dollars penalty not going
to probably do a whole lot todeter him from saying what he wants to
say. With that being said,Jeff, you look at the main issues
that are happening around the world. You have foreign aid in Congress, in
the infighting amongst Republicans there, youhave the conversation of the Southern border,
which you alluded to earlier. Youtalk about what's happening in Israel piece through

(10:46):
strength the anti Semitic rhetoric that alot of these protests have on college campuses.
There's a lot going on right now. Is Joe Biden benefiting from the
circus that's happening in this court roomat all? No? No, I
don't think so at at all.And I know what you're saying, which
is, you know, is itdistracting enough that people aren't really talking about
the issues. But I think onstations like Kryfa B and you know the

(11:09):
station I work on, who like, the people are still talking about the
issues. They know this Trump trialis going on, but they're like,
are we going to do anything aboutinflation? Are we going to do anything
about the border? Are anything anythingabout crime? Rampant crime that's going on
in our in our street? Andthey see non action, and you know,

(11:33):
they're mad at Congress and they oughtto be over the non action.
The Republicans are just as much toblame for the lack of action on anything
like this. But the head ofall of this is the President of the
United States, Joe Biden, andhe just completely looks flummoxed and lost,
and we all know that he's gotcognitive issues. God bless the man.
I'm not trying to be cool aboutit. The man has cognitive issues,

(11:56):
and he's in the toughest job inthe world, and we don't think he's
actually in charge or capable of leadingfor sure, and so if you'll get
the blame and he's going to losein the fall. But I also think
I hope the voters will just bevery upset with the status quo in general
and saying we don't accept the countryanymore in which Congress actually can't act on
any of the top issues that arein front of us. Absolutely, Jeff

(12:18):
Angelo, talk show host and Moine, thanks so much for the time.
Man. Always pleasure getting your perspectiveon these things. You bet we'll talk
to you. Sud Emory
