(00:00):
The first thing I wanted to tacklewith you is you had the opportunity to
(00:04):
meet with President Trump. You talkedto the movers and shakers in Washington,
DC all the time, and obviouslywe're getting into a pretty gut check time
in politics over the next few months. What was learned today and what can
you report to us about kind ofwhat the plan is for the next few
months. Yeah, we had agreat meeting with President Trump today with the
Republican senators. You know, justexpressing unity is actually a very unifying meeting.
(00:28):
You know, said, hey,he's a undred thousand percent behind us,
and you know, really wants towork with us to connect as a
gendo when he gets elected. Andso we have lots of opportunities. He
spoke about some of the ones thateverybody see, like inflation, and one
of the things he wants to dois start utilizing our energy resources and developing
them to be able to bring outevery costs for working Americans. So just
(00:51):
again, obviously that's no breaterer.Obviously the Biden administration has been attacking US
energy, especially at a time whenwe've got a very dangerous world right now.
It just makes no sense. PresidentTrump also talked about making sure we
screw the border. Obviously he knowshow to do that because he brought illegal
border crossings down to a forty fiveyear low. He also talked about the
need to project strength. He said, hey, you know, if I
was president, you know, Putinwouldn't be doing military exercises off at KOs
(01:14):
a Cube, but which I onehundred percent agree with. You know,
President Trump always projected strength. Idon't think there's any way that Putin would
have made in Ukraine if President Trumpwas still in office. So he talked
about the importance for that, andthen he did you get into one of
his policy ideas. I thought thatwas really really great. You talk about
tips. You know, when you'rean hourly worker and you get tips.
(01:36):
He said, hey, let's nottax tips. The Biden administration has just
made the paperwork around reporting taxes fortips harder. And we're talking about,
you know, somebody who's going tobe an hourly server in your restaurant,
and now we're making it harder onthem to fill out more paperwork to you
know, report their tips. SoPresident Trump is like, let's make tips,
(01:56):
you know, let's a tax freeI think it's a great idea,
a great idea to help people whoare especially hourly workers who are feeling the
pinch of inflation, to be ableto be able to combat that. And
again, at some point you gotto say, you know, how much
you know, if we're just makingmore paper and more bird for people,
is that really about this? Sothose were some of the things he talked
(02:17):
about. I thought, again,a great launch hit upon the important things
that people in this country care about. We're looking forward to getting him elected
and connecting his agenda as quickly aspossible once you get sworn in. Yeah,
it sounds like legitimate conservatism at workright there. Speaking with Senator Pete
Ricketts from Nebraska. Another thing thatyou know, we was on the docket
(02:38):
to chat with you about is Titlenine because Title nine has been kind of
under attack, even in social circles, which is kind of crazy to think
that we would be attacking it.We're not attacking it in a way of
like trying to take opportunities away fromwomen. It's just that we're making it
more opportunistic for people who aren't necessarilywomen and somehow falling under Title nine.
Can you explain to us what isthe tempt of what's happening going on and
(03:01):
what you guys in the Republican Partyare trying to do to quell that absolutely.
Title nine, of course, wassomething that was passed fifty two years
ago to support women in level ofplaying field. And actually, I'm going
to say that you know, look, if you're taking if you're giving those
opportunities to somebody else, you aretaking them away from women, right and
somebody else in these kids we're talkingabout is men who are boys who are
(03:22):
identifying as women or girls. Andthis is the whole idea of what the
Biden administration is doing. They justthey're a Department of Education just released new
Title nine rules that unirably write thelaw. So what they're saying is that
sex equals gender identity. And ofcourse the first thing is they didn't go
to Congress with this. They don'thave the authority to say sex equals gender
(03:45):
identity. And that's not in thelaw. Gender identity was barely afraid fifty
two years ago when this law waswritten, itten anywhere in the law.
And what this would do is forcegirls and women to share dorm rooms,
bathrooms, locker rooms with boys andmen. And we all know that's just
wrong. You know, it's justwrong. It doesn't make any common sense.
It would also it's an illegal powergraph because the rules assume the power
(04:09):
to investigate any incidence where transgender studentsbase perceived unequal treatment based on their gender
a debt, and the result ofthat would mean that students could be punished
for failing, for example, touse a student's preferred pronoun. It is
just I mean, this is ananti common sense, it's anti science.
It's violating the will of Congress andwhat we're trying to do as Republicans protect
(04:31):
women by introducing a Congressional View Actthat would block the implantation of this rule.
Biden's bureaucrats have no authority to reinterpretreinterpret a fifty year old statue,
and it's classic big government overage. So that's what we hope to accomplish.
And by the way, I thinkwe're going to have bypowers and sports to
this for both the House and Senate, because it is just you know,
(04:53):
most Americans get that this is justwrong. Yeah, just it's the idea
of trying to look as woke aspos and you talk about government overreach if
there's not something that's you know,Spew's twenty twenty four Democrat Party. I
don't know if there's anything that's abetter example of that. Senator Pete rickis
joining us on the phone line.I want to talk about You mentioned the
border in the conversation that you hadwith President Trump, former President Trump,
(05:16):
and we have an executive order thatwas handed out last week by Joe Biden
and he says, look, Congressdidn't help me, so I'm doing it
all myself, and look at allthe great things that we're going to be
able to do to fix this problemthat the Republicans kept getting in the way
of. Obviously that's a narrative switch, but is what the plan is that
he's doing. Is this too little, too late? And how do we
(05:39):
solve the seven million people that werealready here illegally over the last three years.
It is absolutely too little, toolate. And frankly, this is
just an election you're joke. TheAmerican people are going to see right through
this. I mean, first ofall, to your point about him saying
Congress needed to act, well,of course, Congress did not need to
act. We've been saying all along. President Biden had the authority to secure
the border if he chose to.President Trump with the same tools brought illegal
(06:01):
crossings to a forty five year low, and President Biden opened up the border
wide open. And now we're seeing, you know, in his administration,
ten million people have tried to getinto our country illegally. We have seen
a skyrocket. When we just sawthe Tetige stand. We had eight people
come across the border who were associatedwith ISIS, who were likely terrorists,
who were looking to do a terrorstack in our country. And we're putting
(06:26):
ourselves at risk for that. Imean, and this is all on President
Biden. He did this and hisfirst ninety four days of all of theirs
one hundred day's novels, he issuedninety four executive orders that did things like
stop deportations, ended to remain inMexico, policy which kept asilum susters in
Mexico, didn't let him loose inour country. That's what President Trump did,
right. Biden ended that he alsostopped building the wall. These are
(06:48):
the things that he did that encouragedthis absolute flow of people coming to our
country and now to somehow stay thathe's taking action. His first ninety four
executive actions opened the border now he'sgoing to say that one with like with
a lot of loopholes in it,and the fact that it sets the emergency
level two and a half times withthe Obama administrations was a crisis, you
(07:11):
know, the Boma administration's Homeland SecuritySecretary Jay Johnson said one thousand border encounters
was a crisis and biases executive willwill allow twenty five hundred. It just
shows what a joke this is.And I just can't believe that the Biden
administration thinks they can be face likethis and the American people are going to
buy it. We're just not goingto do it. It's just so dumb
(07:32):
that clearly the Biden administration things wereall done. Well, that's nothing new
there as well. We're speaking ofSenator p Rickison Nebraska. Last thing for
you, this morning's news broke thatwith the unanimous decision, the Supreme Court
of the United States ruled that therecan't be a lawsuit based on lack of
FDA regulations for you know, paraphrasing, of course, and the decision making,
(07:53):
but that the abortion pill is goingto remain accessible throughout the country.
Now we know that abortion has kindof been a no go topic for Republicans
for the last handful of years andnot really been a winning conversation. How
from your perspective, Senator kN Republicans, you know, how do you handle
this particular topic right now, knowingthat it seems like Democrats who are running
(08:18):
on this are winning and Republicans whoare running on this are losing. Well,
I think, first of all,it's important to note that this administration
or the case today merely stay thecase did not have standing. So it's
not that they were judging on themerits of the case. They're saying it
didn't have standing. And of course, what we want is want the FDA
to actually follow the law when itcomes to how they're administering drugs in this
country, and abortion pill is oneof those things. And frankly, we
(08:41):
all want to make sure regards whereyour personal position is on abortion, we
all want to make sure win aresafe and we don't want to make it
easier for human traffickers or abusers tohurt women or their pregnancies. And to
me, again, that's one ofthe biggest concerns with some of these regulations
we're seeing from by administration that they'redamaging you know, women and frankly,
again this is kind of the samementality with the Title nine stuff that it
(09:05):
is absolutely going to harm you know, women and girls, so we want
to make sure they're safe. Ithink that, you know, we saw
with the Dobs decision the UH.You know, the states have the ability
to do this, and in Nebraskawe have the opportunity with UH to protect
our twelve week ban, which iswhat the legislature passed here. We hope
(09:26):
to have that opportunity with the ballotand issuest that's coming up, so you
know, we'll get a chance todesign what we want in regard to protecting
babies in our state, and otherstates will get a chance to do it
the way they want to do.Something to keep in mind and something that
we're going to be paying close attentionto. Of course. Senator Pete Ricketts
will be joining the show throughout therest of the year. I'm sure to
talk about the latest that's happening inthe world around us. Thank you so
(09:48):
much, senator once again for joiningus today. We really appreciate the time
and go get in there in Washington. All right. Hey, thanks a
lot, every I appreciate you havea goot one
