(00:00):
I know, like the Supreme Courtthing is a big deal, and we'll
revisit it a little bit later on, but can we talk about something else,
you know, And I'm actually goingto send that back to a lower
court quick to get their thoughts onit. I just don't want to make
a definite decision today. Yeah weneed we need more opinions and dissensions.
Yeah, yeah, okay, fairenough. Well I'm going to do that

(00:20):
anyway, and then if I getin trouble by the court, then we
can go through an appeal. Igot to say, I think that you
doing this is within the scope ofyour official duties as acting host of the
Emery Songer Show. Now, seethat's what I'm saying. Now, if
I went over there and socked youone right in the nose, that's debatable.
But me just deciding, Hey,I'm going to take the executive action

(00:41):
to move on to a different topic. What's the big deal? That's what
I had to say. Do youyou watched the sps ever the sp Awards
never have I've got some highlights, you know, funny moments. This is
the Okay, So I actually watchedthe Oscars last year with quite a bit
of anticipation because I watched a bunchof movies last year, right, there

(01:02):
were a lot of cool movies likeBarbie and Oppenheimer and Killers of the Flower
Moon and Air and a bunch oflike The Iron Claw. I watched a
lot of movies, and I wasinterested to see who was gonna win a
lot of the awards. Usually,I just cannot stand award shows. It's
just like, hey, everybody, why don't we just pat each other on
the back for the next four hoursin front of an international television audience and

(01:25):
see what happens. You know, whoever wins, congratulations, If you didn't
win, no big deal, right. I don't know if that's how I
feel about it. Yeah, Butthe sps are even worse because it's like,
I'm a huge sports fan, andit just feels such like such a
contrived thing. I like the idea. I'd love to give out my own
awards too. Like you and me, we just give out awards to stuff.

(01:47):
Maybe that's what we do. Wecome up with some categories and then
you and me and our listeners figureout like what the you know, who
is nominated, and then we gothrough like some sort of process, as
too is going to be the winnerof those things and then we give him
like a little statue of something.I was at the Oscars, the Omaha

(02:07):
Sports Commission Awards, and that wasfun. I had a great time.
It's not contrived like these, youknow, Pat yourself on the back situations
in these big Hollywood industries, andthat includes major sports. Well, the
SPEs have an award called the PatTillman Award. Are you familiar with the

(02:28):
Pat Tillman Award. I'm familiar withPat Tillman. So the Pat Tillman Award
was instituted in twenty fourteen. PatTillman died what two thousand and four,
two thousand and five, somewhere likethat. Former NFL player who was serving
in the military died while on duty. And obviously there are some questions as
to what exactly happened in his death, you know, the friendly fire situation

(02:52):
and all that stuff. But eitherdirection, Pat Tillman Award goes to someone
who has a strong connection to sportsports who have served others in a way
that echoes Pat Tillman's legacy. It'snot a hard it's not really a hard
concept to figure out. Right,Well, they don't They're not this.
They don't do the same thing, right, They don't do the award like,

(03:15):
hey, here's five nominees and thenone person wins it. You know
what I mean. They have thewinner already and they are going to tell
you the winner ahead of time,so we already know who the winner is.
You know who the winner is?You want to guess, like,
who is who is a strong connectionto sports that serves others in a way
that echoes Pat Tillman. You gotanybody on your mind, like who's been

(03:38):
who in sports is like known forbeing incredibly helpful, useful, powerful individual?
Ah exactly, there's not an obviousone. But you know who won
it last year? Who the BuffaloBill's training staff. Oh for yeah,
Damar Hamlin saving his life right,Purple Heart recipients, IRAQ war veterans,

(04:01):
Army sergeants, Paralympic gold medalists, all among previous winners. You know who's
winning it this year? Prince Harry. Prince Harry, Prince Harry, What
did he Do? ESPN announced lastweek that Prince Harry would receive the award,
citing his impact on the veteran communitythrough the Invictus Games Foundation, which
he founded. The Evicted s Games, launched in twenty fourteen, is a
sporting event for wounded, injured, and six servicemen and women. ESPN's Folks

(04:25):
Versus set of a statement. ESPNwas a support of the Tillman Foundation is
honoring Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, specifically for the work of the Invictus
Games Foundation as it celebrates its tenthyear promoting healing through the power of sport
for military service members and veterans aroundthe world. While we understand not everyone
will agree with all on a reselected for any award, the Invictus Games
Foundation does incredible work and ESPN believesthis is a cause worth celebrating. We

(04:47):
haven't heard from Prince Harry or theInvictus Games Foundation, by the way,
to this point. But what doyou think that sounds like the Invictus Games.
That sounds like a good thing?Good thing? Are you okay with?
Uh? You okay with giving hima sports award? You the Invictus

(05:08):
Games good enough to honor Prince Harry. I'll give you my opinion in a
second. I you know, Imean, he had just having heard of
this. I'm sure that if Iwould hop on Twitter the dissenters for this
decision would have better names in mindthat might be able to convince me that
there certainly are. And I don'tthink it would take very long to find

(05:28):
that, because you know, he'sa prince. He doesn't he already have
enough good going in his life. You need an award? And until this
moment, did you even know hewas connected anything sports related? Would be
my question. I didn't. Ididn't, But I mean, it's just
what you told me about the InvictusGames. It does seem like something that
we should celebrate. That sounds likea wonderful thing and an awesome thing that

(05:50):
he did. I but you knowso, Pat Tillman's mom has weighed in.
Okay, she's not happy, Okay. Pat Tillman's mom says this is
a grace and is shocked as towhy they would select such a controversial and
divisive individual to receive the award. Now, I think she, I think
she there's something. How do Isay this? I don't want to be

(06:12):
that guy. I'm going to bethat guy. She should have a say
in it. But is it reallyher award? Is it her award to
give out? Do they need tohave her approve of every award winner because
her son's name is on it.They don't need to, but it's a
bad look if she doesn't approve ofit. I'm with you, I'm one
hundred percent with you when it comesto this being a good idea. And

(06:33):
this is why. What do youthink Prince Harry's going to say when he
gets upon that stage, especially knowingall the backlash is coming, assuming he
comes right, Assuming he's there, and he gives a speech, which I
think is important that he does.If he's being bestowed this honor, he's
got to make it seem like he'simportant to him. Right. Hm.
Well, if that's the case,in veterans from all over the world have
this opportunity through this foundation, Ithink that could end up being an actual

(06:56):
major highlight of this award. Itwill increase the awareness of some of the
stuff that is being done to tryto help the veterans not just of our
country, but of all countries. And I don't know about you, but
I do think that there's a leveland a capability that we have as people
in our society to have an openmind with this stuff. Right. It's
an s B Award it's not like, you know what I'm saying, Like,

(07:18):
there's not really like a fairly obviouslike Damar Hamlin's life savers on the
Buffalo Bill's training staff. That tome, okay, like that seemed like
a pretty obvious. One. Numbertwo though on that is like, is
there anything like that for this year? Was there anything super duper obvious?

(07:39):
No? I don't think so.So I don't know about you. I'm
just I'm thinking to myself, Idon't think this is a bad thing,
and I think it could be areally awesome moment if we allow Prince Harry,
for whatever faults, all his faultsthat he might have based on the
political divisiveness that maybe his name wouldbring, to talk about something that is
not divisive, helping out our veteransand helping rehab them with our situation.

(08:03):
And I just tell you that noteverything has to be divisive. Is that
okay? Is that okay for meto say? Is that bad for our
industry? Hey? I love thesound of that, And I totally agree.
Not everything has to be divisive eitherway. You know what, He's
winning the awards, So I meanit's too late to backtrack on it now.
Whether or not. Mary Tillman thinksit's a good idea or not.
I'm I don't know either way.If you got thoughts on this, Prince

(08:24):
Harry winning an award for sports,I don't know. Four h two five
five eight eleven ten. Four ohtwo five five eight eleven ten. It's
news Radio eleven ten Kfab em Resungon news Radio eleven ten Kfab. It's
because of his work through the InvictusGames ten year anniversary of that, which
gives the opportunities for wounded veterans toyou know, kind of rehabilitate and get

(08:50):
back into society through sport. Andwe have Mike on our phone line at
four oh two five five eight eleventen. Mike, appreciate you for calling
in. You got some background onthis for us? Well, I know
the Invicuous Game has kind of started, and it was basically, like I
said, to the Olympics, forveterans and soldiers and wounded warriors and all
that. I haven't followed it closely, but I mean, obviously it's been
going on for almost ten years.I think it's a pretty cool thing.

(09:13):
And if you would take anybody's nameout there and take off the print and
just say, yeah, some guynamed Harry who started this is winning it.
You know, I don't think that'dbe a controversy. I'm about anti
royal on everything because I think thewhole royal nobility things a joke, and
why we relish him in our countryis beyond me. I would imagine the
people in England if they look atthe history and realize that the Royals probably

(09:33):
screwed him over more than anybody elsein the history of England. But why
they put him on pedestals. ButI think in this case, it's not
the title, because I think he'srescinded his title. I think he's demasculating
woman that has taken that away fromhim. But I think it's just it's
what he has done, not whohe is, that merits the recognition and
when he's given back to the militarycommunity, and I mean, you know,

(09:54):
he kind of went against the royalfamily and he actually went down there
and thought and I reckon, youknow, they couldn't tell him where what
unit he was at, because obviouslyhe would have been a target, but
he he did kind of go downthere. I don't agree with his life
decisions and who we've married apparently apparentlyshe's killing him. But you know,
for what he did for the soldiers, Yeah, it's fine. There's nobody
else out there right now. That'sprobably you know, for the SDS.

(10:18):
Some of most works get watered downover time. But I think this is
a good thing. If people justdropped the prince and just say some guy
dai't marry there's what he did.Get over it, and you know what,
that's a great that's a great point, Mike. If we just didn't
know who this guy was, itwas random Joe Schmoe off the street that
helped organize the Invictus Games. Literally, no one would have said a thing
about it. It's a very goodpoint. Thanks for calling in. Man,

(10:39):
really appreciate it. Yeah, thereyou go. How about that got
all sorts of things kind of poppingup on the timeline here. I was,
okay, so we can all agreeit's not that big a deal.
Everybody's raising, you know, hackover it. But Prince Harry weren't winning
the esp for the Pat Tillman Award, especially if he's you know, if

(11:01):
he goes there, he does aspeech and he talks about the speech in
regards specifically to the veterans that hehas helped. I think people are gonna
be like, okay, okay,we're okay, We're okay with that.
It's just everybody's just like Prince Harryfor what he's done. Nothing. He's
just a royal guy. He hasnothing to do with sports. Yuh you

(11:22):
read read something, read a book, read information on this, and I
don't know what to tell Miss TillmanMary Tillman, the mother of Pat Tillman,
who also does not like this.So it's like, yeah, yeah,
sorry, I wish I you know, I wish I could understand why
you don't like this. Apparently he'ssuper divisive and got you got an opinion

(11:46):
on Megan Markle, like she's insuits, she she's been in some stuff
over the years. I mean,I don't. I've never really had a
strong opinion about her, like astrong negative opinion about her, Like obviously
she's probably pretty liberal role you know, California woman, But you don't.
Nothing she's ever said was like ultraoffensive to me. If anything, I

(12:07):
was like rooting her on because shewas so anti royal family situation, you
know what I mean, Like anybodywho's trying to take that monarchy down,
even if it is incredibly successful fortourism in England, which is the whole
reason it's happening now, right,Like, the only reason why anybody still
cares is because of the tourism thatit brings, right, That's that's the
whole point, right, Yeah,I mean it's it's kind of a I

(12:28):
don't know, it's an antiquated thing, but also it's kind of kind of
unique. It's exactly special, theuniqueness and the heritage in the history.
I mean, they made a TVshow, a dramatized TV show about it,
and apparently the royal Family's cool withthat. You know why, because
they want people to be interested inthe royal family, right, that's what
it's all about. People lose theirinterest, then maybe they'll go away.

(12:50):
And then Megan was trying to takethat, take that establishment down. She's
just like, these people are terrible. Not only is this family terrible,
but the media who covers it isin like terrible. They're all terrible.
Everybody's terrible. And then they movedto the United States and Harry is like,
ah, I'm not really part ofthe royal family, and you know
what, you want to know whyI don't mind him doing that, because
what was he gonna do? Youknow how many people would have to like

(13:13):
get moved out of the way forhim to become the king one day?
As if that actually matters nothing. He's already as famous as he'll ever be
as king. He's just not theking. But the king doesn't actually make
any major decisions in Europe or inBritain now. And you know, you
want to know what else. It'sWilliam who's next in line, right,
and then it's William's sons, right, like you know how many the multiple

(13:37):
sons Harry leaving the royal family didnothing for the hierarchy of the royal family.
That's all I'm saying. I'm justthrowing that out there. Yeah,
it is what it is. Fourtwenty seven is a time. There's some
other things going on. I'm entranceda little bit on this screen. We're
paying attention to the weather on onescreen and we'll give you an update on
that. And we're paying attention tothe soccer match, which is still nil

(14:00):
nil zero zero Portugal and Slovenia around of sixteen European Championships. We might
go with penalty kicks here there's onlylike six minutes left of the extra time.
That'd be exciting, right, Shouldwe do live play by play of
that penalty? Yeah, have thepenalty kicks? That might be funny.
All right, Well, we'll seewhat's going on if we even make it
there, and we'll let you know, as you just never know what's going
on on a Monday on news radioeleven ten kfab. Em Marie Songer on

(14:24):
news Radio eleven ten kfab. Youboy it, you bought it, you
blew it. Have you ever donesomething really stupid? Yeah? Me,
neither, but these people did,and that means it's time for you get

(14:45):
an f's all right. Hello,Emory Sunger here with you. Hey,
Matt case is my producer. Matt, you got something for me today?
You got a little something? Allright? Fire away? Well. Representative
of Michigan's government, Representative Neil Frisk, who is he frisky? Kind of
lived up to his name recently.Oh boy, I can't wait to see

(15:07):
where this goes. Yeah, gotarrested after allegedly having an altercation with a
firearm and the lady of the dancingEvening what. Yeah, you're gonna have
to say that in English Michigan representativeNeil Frisky arrested after alleged altercation with an

(15:31):
adult dancer where he brandished a firearmand chased her down the street. Apparently
there was some sort of disagreement oversomething that we're not privy to, and
his political career might be over.Yeah, I would say so probably,
but you would think you'd hope.So if we know this is the guy,
yeah, so what do you thinkI mean? For a lot of

(15:52):
reasons, among which living up tohis last name, I got to give
Neil Frisky an f oh Neil, why did you have to be so frisky?
All right? So here's here's one. There is a tree cut in
half sitting in a retired couple's homearea in twenty twenty one. Barrat Mistri

(16:23):
was trying to figure out what theheck happened when neighbors Irene and Graham Lee
decided it's life the branches in halfon the sixteen foot fur tree that had
stood outside their home for twenty fiveyears. Let me show you a picture
of this fur tree in Sheffield inEngland. They cut it in half on

(16:44):
there, like the half that waslike hanging over their side of the property.
You see that, I can't seeit because all those pop ups.
I had to stop the pop upson this website. Here you go,
look at this picture. Look atthis picture. Now, look at it.
You see it. Oh that's funny. So it's a half tree.
Yeah, but the half of thetree that they left there is still alive

(17:07):
and still growing and still blossoming andblooming the last couple of years. So
even though the person that lives inthe house and next door was upset that
the neighbors decided to slice off thehouse or slice off the tree on their
side of the house, now allof a sudden, the tree has become
kind of a tourist attraction that manypeople in the neighborhood are coming in seeing
and won't eve to take pictures with. And this guy feels like, you
know what, that's okay. I'mhappy with that. So a plus to

(17:30):
that guy. But for the couplenext door that decided to take it upon
yourself to just slice up one sideof this tree because you didn't like it
hanging over the side on your propertywithout talking to this guy, well,
Irene and Grammlely, you get agiant, big, fat f Why do
you talk to your neighbor and nothave fights with them to the point where

(17:51):
you just chain saw half of theirtree. It doesn't make any sense to
me, but it's still alive andit's still kicking, and it looks pretty
cool. More on the Way newsReady eleven to in kfab
