Joining us on the phone line totalk about this is Grace Spath from One
for All Music Theater. Grace, first of all, thanks so much for
being on our show today. Hi. Yeah, thank you for having me.
Okay, so, Grace first, before I talk about your awesome fundraise
for you guys have coming up thisweekend, can you tell me a little
bit about the One for All MusicTheater for sure? All right, So,
(00:20):
One for All Musical Theater is asmall, independent, local business that
my mother started a few years agoto try to fill some needs for the
Omaha Metros underserved community. Our wholething is providing an outlet for musical theater
and all of the skills that comewith it to folks who may not have
(00:41):
opportunities to join bigger companies like thePlayhouse or the Orphium or the Rose Theater.
And we do a lot of ourown productions too, and we will
also promote other small local businesses.Yeah. So I'm looking at your guys's
website here and you talk about allthe different things that you guys are are
doing. I see a bunch ofdifferent photos. I see a bunch of
(01:02):
different things that people of various agestake place in. So one for all
musical theater. What's about the agerange of people who are taking part in
your productions and what your guys's programslook like. Yeah, so as far
as age goes, we can takeanybody as young as two to three years
(01:23):
old and as old as they're ableto play a part and contribute. The
kinds of shows we do are prettyversatile. A few examples of productions we
have done. The first one wedid was an original composition of the Cinderella
Story. We have also done anoriginal remake of The Phantom of the Opera
(01:48):
based on the novel Legis on theRue. We've done a couple of productions
by other playwrights as well, suchas Esther based off of the Old Testament
biblical story, and we did letMe see you find the name here.
We did Diana Princess Diana, whichwas written by a playwright named Karen Javic,
and then we did another one ofher many musicals called Rachel and Ruthy.
(02:12):
So those are just some examples ofwhat we've done. We'll also do
things like cabarets, talent shows. We sponsor some local bands as well as
bands that are maybe from outtown. So lots of those kinds of lots of
those kinds of events. Really cool. We're speaking with Grace Spath from One
for All Musical Theater here in theOmaha area. So that leads me to
(02:34):
what you guys have coming up thisweekend at the Joslyn Castle. You guys
have a big fundraiser coming up,So explain what the fundraiser looks like and
what you're raising money for. Yeah, so that is our funds for Phantom
event. It is indeed being heldat the Jocelyn Castle. It is a
it's like it's going to be abanquet, so there's going to be a
(02:54):
cater dinner. We have some standup comedy set to perform. There will
also be a live auction and asilent auction to help raise those funds.
The comedy we have slotted to performancebig Canvas improvs, and then more information
(03:15):
as far as like how to gettickets and what the specific times are can
be found on the One for AllMusical Theater dot org website. Cool,
and I'm looking at that All forOne Musical Theater website, which is quite
literally one for All Musicaltheater dot org. It's right there, very easy to
find You can also google it andit's the first thing that pops up,
(03:35):
which is nice to see. Andyou talk about the Phantom of the Opera.
Here this is a pretty advanced theadvanced type production. You guys,
how long does it take to prepareand then where these funds go to kind
of make this production happen. Canyou tell me a little bit about how
that operation works behind the scenes.Yeah, So, first I want to
be very clear here this is notthe Andrew Lloyd Webber production where doing this
(04:00):
is a completely original rendition that wascomposed by both myself and my mom.
We performed at Once a couple ofyears ago, right as the pandemic was
picking up speed or like at itsheight. But we wanted to do the
Andrew Lloyd Webber show, but therewas the royalties for that are very very
expensive. So Kim Moore, theCEO, took matters into her own hands.
(04:25):
I lent her my copy of theGuestaan LaRue book and she got to
writing. And there's been quite afew revisions of it. But the first
production we did a couple of yearsago, I would say was quite successful.
The funding, some of that ispersonal funding that has come from family
money. Other sources of funding includeprivate donors. We did some of those
(04:50):
shows I mentioned, those little sideprojects I mentioned, like the cabaret shows
and whatnot. There are free willdonations that are often set up at those
and then there are grants and fundsthat we have applied for as well to
help bring in some of that funding. Speaking with Grace Spath from the nonprofit
(05:11):
organization One for All Musical Theater,so real quick before I get you out
of here, Grace, it soundssuper fun and anybody who thinks they know
Phantom of the Opera certainly should bechecking this out. But most importantly we
want to get people over to JoslynCastle for your fundraisers this Saturday for funds
for Phantom once one more time. How can people find more information to be
(05:31):
a part of this, Yes,so Google is a great way to start.
Just google One for All Musical Theaterand you will see that One for
All Musical Theater dot org website popup. You'll know you're in the right
place if you click on that andyou see a stage with blue curtains and
big white lettering. There are linksto buy the tickets there, and then
(05:54):
there's also information for other activities andevents that we have on there, including
a band that will be performing atthe Iowa Western Arts Center Arts Center on
August twenty ninth. There has moreinformation on there too. Very cool,
very cool one for all musicaltheater dotorg. Grace, this was fantastic.
(06:14):
Thanks so much for giving us sometime today, and good luck with the
fundraiser in with your production of Fantomof the Opera. Yeah, thank you
so much for having me. Havea good day.
