Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sean Callahan's joining us before we get back into our
animal encounter conversation. I do have to ask Sean before
we get into the football stuff. Is there is there
an animal encounter that you've had in your life that
you were like, Wow, I'm never going to forget that one.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Oh boy, I'm trying to remember. I mean, I got
bit by a dog once randomly out a freshman in
high school, and that that always sticks on you in
your mind. Sure, you know, it just kind of ran
in the backyard to go get a friend and their
dog came up and got my leg. So that that's
probably the only one I've ever had that you know,
would wouldn't have never come across a bear, or you

(00:37):
wouldn't want to come across fair enough.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Fair enough. Now you might encounter a buffalo when you
go to Boulder, Colorado. I don't think Ralphie's going to
make the trip to Lincoln, but I will say this,
it's going to be a pretty fun football game to
be paying attention to this Saturday. What are the last
thoughts that you kind of have gone to now that
you've had six days to kind of moll over this
particular matchup, and what are going to be some of
the things that you're going to be paying attention to
in tomorrow's matchup.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Well, I think the biggest thing is can Nebraska forced
Colorado to play their style of game? And I thought
last year for almost three quarters they did that in Boulder.
People forget that was a thirteen to seven game. Late
in the third quarter, with about five minutes remaining, he
was still thirteen to seven. Colorado was only up by six.
Nebraska had turned it over a ton and Jeff Simms

(01:21):
just kind of unraveled at the end of the third quarter,
obviously in the fourth quarter to allow Colorado to explode
and pull away with the victory. But that game was
closer than a lot of people want to properly admit.
And the reason that the Lydd flew off was it
were the turnover. So can Nebraska force Colorado to play
their game, to slow the pace down and you know,
and make it more of a line of scrimmage game.

(01:42):
They can't make this a tract me. They can't turn
it into a seven on seven competition. That plays right
in the hands of what Shador Sanders and his talented
wide receiver group wants to do.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
So for the Nebraska side of this thing. What do
you think we'll see that's different this week than what
we saw against UTEP The.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Defense Number one didn't blitz the end. They didn't blitz
one time last week, not one. So on the fifty
something snaps they played, they ran a four man rush
the whole game or three man rush, and blitz means
that you bring more than four. So they kept it
as vanilla and basic as you could possibly keep things
on defense. That's going to change Saturday. They're going to

(02:22):
bring some heat. They're going to have some different coverage looks.
They're going to mix man the man with zone. I
think Tony White's got a whole game plan he probably
hasn't shown that he's going to bring out for this
game against Colorado because Shorge Sanders is very good, and
you know, if he you know, you don't want to
give him an advantage to study what you're going to
show him. So I would imagine Nebraska will bring something

(02:44):
completely new at him to get him off ballance. So
that's the biggest thing, and then can Nebraska establish that
running game. I do think the Huskers have a significant
advantage at the line of scrimmage in this football game,
both on the offensive and the defensive line. Can they
establish the line of image? Special teams is big for
me too. Obviously punting, but the field goal kicking, I

(03:05):
you know, L Tristan Alvano be consistent and they can't
afford miss kicks. I mean, we saw last year they
missed the kick and boulder and then the game really
turned at that point when Nebraska had some momentum role
in So the field goal kicking again that we didn't
really get a great taste of it last week, the
way the game played out with UTEP with only one
field goal attempt and it was a chip shot. So

(03:27):
I that's another X factor for Nebraska to see where
that part of their game's at.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Definitely going to be something to watch. Now. I got
to put you in this position as usual. What's going
to be the final score?

Speaker 2 (03:38):
I've got Nebraska Emory. I'm trying to think I had
it was either forty one. I think I had forty one,
thirty one, dang somewhere a lot of points. I don't know.
It's going to be no excuse me, thirty seven to
twenty step and I had thirty seven to twenty step.
That was my score. So I do think I have
the oversitting in Nebraska covering. I could easily see Nebraska

(03:59):
kind of slowing it down, making it more of a
possession game, kind of like what we watch in the
Kansasity game by sight with Baltimore, it's very much a
possession game. The Chiefs only ran fifty something blaze last night.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Well, I mean, Sean, when one side gets about fifty
five calls in their favor from the officiating crew, it's
pretty hard to lose no matter what they're doing.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Right, Hey, line up on the line of scrimmage, don't don't,
don't seat your drops. You can't stop. What's it from
the Chiefs?

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Chris?

Speaker 2 (04:28):
That was kind of nuts, though, Chris Jones. They kept
calling that and that's a new rule in the NFL,
and they made sure they were going to mphsize week one.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
I've never seen that penalty call that many times in
one game ever.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Yeah, and it's just we don't need to talk pro ball.
I was watching very frustrated already with the NFL season.
We've played one game. Anyway, tomorrow's a big one. It's
gonna be fun. Thank you so much, Sean for all
the stuff that you do and for us, we really
appreciate you calling in as always for Husker Buzz and
enjoy the game in Lincoln tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Hey, thanks Henry. It's gonna be magical day here and linkin.
Hopefully a lot of the listeners are going to get
down here and enjoy the day with us, so it
should be.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
A fun one, Absolutely no doubt about it. Sean Callahan
