College Football has changed for good. Is that a good thing?

Nebraska Rutgers game in the Big Ten, right, is going
to be something like an underrated game to pay close
attention to because of the possible implications of the Big
Ten standings at that point.

I'm telling you the news today about the Big Ten
and SEC trying to like collaborate with each other only
and kind of creating like two you know, like how
the NFL has the AFC and the NFC conferences. Yeah,
it's kind of like they're creating their own miniature minor
league developmental NFL. Anybody who says academics matter, this is
the same type of college athlete that we need to

be paying close attention to, the same way that we
were before with NIL, with the transfer portal, with the
amount of the millions and millions billions of dollars these
conferences are making, the schools in these conferences are making,
and the kids don't really get that money. But the
NIL and the way that that's coming. Do you see
that UNLV thing, Well, I was gone. I did, they're

starting quarterback. They're three and oh starting quarterback dips out
so he can preserve his red shirt so he can
play next year somewhere because he thought he was promised
by an assistant coach one hundred thousand dollars in nil
and didn't receive more than three thousand of it, and
he leaves. That's college football. Now. We shouldn't be talking
about it the same way, like it's great that Nebraska's

got a seat at the table, and if you're an
Iowawkeye fan, they have a seat at the table with
the Big ten SEC thing if this happens, which means
that like literally in a twelve team playoff, they are
not it's they are guaranteed two thirds of the bids,
which means the only bids that are available left, the
automatic berth for the Big twelve champion, the automatic berth
for the ACC champion, the automatic berth for the group

of five team that's the highest ranked, and then probably
Notre Dame or an additional fifth team from one of
the major conferences, the two big ones. They are going
to do everything they can to freeze out as many
of the other conferences as possible because they have the
biggest brand and they have the biggest wallets. This is bad,
This is wrong for college football. Everything we loved about
it is gone. It is not the same. Yeah. So

if you're like, it's good to still have pride in
the Huskers or the Hawkeyes or the Cyclones or whoever
you cheer for, but don't act like it's the same,
it's not. You might as well be cheering for an
NFL team now, yep. And that's that's just the reality
of the situation, whether it's unfortunate or fortunate. At this point,
I'm torn because the players deserve to get their share
of the money. I one hundred percent agree with that.
I think it's stupid to suspend them or say that

they're ineligible to play based on certain things like signing
autographs for people stuff like that, And I don't know, Like,
to me, I think that's a good way, like and
I think it makes sense. But an unlimited transfer portal
like not having a lot of this stuff in riding
with the nil and the players can just like quit
on their teams because they're not making the money they
thought they would. The school's making billions of dollars over

ten years out of TV money. Well, I mean what
and tuition keeps going up, so let's figure.

No, that's the thing. We got to decouple this. We
got a d couple the NIL sports with academia because.

It's not It shouldn't be considered the same. Yeah, this
might represent your university, but these are not like guys
who like this is why the Ivy League school said,
we're not focusing on football anymore. Yeah, we dominated football
for the first like thirty years of its existence, but
it's not important to us. We want to be academic institutions.
And you can define that however you want. But the

way the college football is now, if this big ten
SEC thing goes through, it's literally minor league NFL. It
is NFL for eighteen to twenty two year olds. There's
a guy playing for the University of Miami. I think
I saw he's been there for nine years. He's a
ninth year senior. Wow, medical red shirts. The COVID year
that everybready got back. He was in the recruiting class

at Oregon with Justin Herbert, a guy who's on his
second NFL contract right now, he was recruited in the
same recruiting class as a guy who's been in the
NFL for five years. He's still playing college football for
the University of Miami. Bracking my day, the Pac twelve
had twelve team. Seriously, I cannot I cannot even begin
to tell you how disappointing it is in a lot

of ways. At the same time, this is the world
that we live in, and we better make that adjustment
mentally before it's too late. Still love them, Still love
your Skurts, Still love the Hawkeyes and the Cyclones or
whoever you cheer for. It's just not the same thing
