Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Skurs taking on the unbeaten sixteenth ranked Indiana Hoosiers.
Now to join us is the battler himself, a real trooper,
Sean Callahan joining us. Sean, I appreciate it. I want
to save your voice. I don't want you to do
anything too crazy. We've done great, great analysis all week
on this matchup. I'll let you just tell me what
you think is going to happen with the final score

(00:21):
is going to be.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Well, I've got Nebraska thirty one to twenty seven. I'm
in Bloomington. Actually, we just got in this afternoon and
beautiful weather. It's going to be a great day. You know.
We talked to urban Meyer, Joel urban Meyer, Matt Lioner,
and Brady Quinn as well at the big noon kickoff
set this afternoon, and all three are very compliments here
the Nebraska defense about Diylan Royola on that rule also

(00:44):
though very complimentary about Indiana and just what they've done
this year and how there are very little flaws with
this Hoosier team. And there's no question on Nebraska is
the best team that the Hoosiers have played this year,
and it's going to be quite a test for them.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Yeah, I got to tell you. I gotta tell you, Sean,
this is going to be a very interesting matchup, just
because it feels like six kind of precursor games for
Indiana before they actually started getting into an opponent that
definitely has talent, that is no worse than theirs is
and definitely could be even better. Should be a lot
of fun. I know that we'll unpack it as well

(01:19):
tomorrow or not tomorrow, but on Monday. But tonight six
o'clock we got a Husker online show.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yes we do Husker a lines show and I had six,
So we'll dealt more into this matchup here as we
get you ready for tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Awesome, buddy, Hey take care of that voice for me.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Hey, thank you very much.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
All right. That is Sean Callahan for Husker Buzz five
seventeen Matt and Ies. We're going to break down the
Husker game and maybe a couple other football related things
coming up, So stick around on news Radio eleven ten

Chaos in the Big ten. The party crasher is Indiana.

(01:57):
Because you have Oregon, you have Ohio State, you have PennState,
and everybody thinks that those seem to be the best teams,
and I don't think I disagree with that necessarily, But
if you want a strange looking party crasher to find
a way into that mix at the top of the
big ten standings, Indiana has to keep winning. That's that's
good for Nebraska fans, right. That kind of makes us
to the underdog a little bit here and the redheaded

(02:19):
step child, if you will. And I have no problem
like ruining Indiana's hopes and dreams selfishly.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Yeah, I think that the positioning of where the Huskers,
it's kind of perfect, especially being a Nebraska fan. We've
watched so many times where because of the logo, even
though we didn't have the team, we were looked at
as this giant that needed to be slayed, And it's
really nice to be the team. That's kind of like
the smaller story. But we have a formidable team. We

(02:49):
are on the road. It's a freshman quarterback upstarts. Yeah,
like like they're upstarts.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Now.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
That's refreshing. You don't really you don't really get to
play that role with Nebraska very often, so it's refreshing.
And I do think that the circumstances are set for
Nebraska to get a victory here if things go well
for them, you know, if the game plan goes well.
I think that Indiana has not beaten anybody of any significance.
Who's the two teams they've beaten in the Big Ten,

(03:16):
isn't it? Purdue in Maryland? The Northwestern in Maryland.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
They've beaten three So Maryland, Northwestern, and Ucla. Oh so yeah,
Ucla and Maryland have not won a Big Ten game yet.
In Northwestern is one and two. But the impressive part
of that is Northwestern has not allowed more than twenty
four points in any game this year, except to Northwestern
or to Indiana. In Indiana put a forty one on them.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Yeah, I suppose they just really, you know, I think
that they you know, they remind me of Indiana. Indiana
reminds me of that Husker team coached by Mike Riley
several years ago when they strolled into town at I
think they were seven and zero and they were ranked
in the top ten, I believe, and they had a

(04:01):
rough end of the season because they actually played some
good teams. So I just Indiana though, buddy Nebraska this week,
but after that a Washington team that last week lost
forty to sixteen to Iowa. Yeah, at Michigan State, who
you know, the jury's out on the first year regime there,
and how good they actually might be.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
They're three and three right now. They play Iowa this
week and then they play a Michigan team that how
good are they? I mean they may not even be
ranked by the time they see them.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
They should beat Indiana, but.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Today that's in Bloomington, Like, are we sure that they're
not just going to be like, hey, you our season's tanked,
like forget about it. Going to Bloomington and Indiana like
has the buzz knowing what could be on the line
for them. That's their first ten games, they've already won
six of them. Yeah, and then the big one is
Ohio State second to last week and the Horseshoe that one.
I mean, you control your own destiny if you're Indiana there,

(04:52):
I mean, you beat Ohio State, you know, at least
you are going to be playing for a Big Ten
championship in all likelihood above the Buckeyes, which be unthinkable otherwise.
I don't think they're better than Ohio State, but I
mean one game, you never know what can happen? So
they have a lot on the line. They lose in
Nebraska this week, I don't think there's a pathway for
them to somehow work in there without playing Oregon, without
playing Penn State those guys, I don't know how like.

(05:15):
And then you have Ohio State still on the schedule.
There could be a couple of land mines in there.
They know they have to win this one to give
themselves a realistic shot. But what's new for Indiana this week?
All of a sudden, there's a spotlight. There's a spotlight,
a sellout crowd, and an opponent with actual, like five
star caliber players on the other side.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
And I would say that that's a lot of pressure
to not mess up because you look at the schedule
and how favorable it is. They're thinking, Hey, you win
this game, your favorite of the next two or three
at least before you go to Ohio State. Yeah, so
you could be staring ten wins in the face here. Yeah,
I'm gonna call my shot. I think the Huskers win.
I think that Indiana is just primed for this right now.

(05:54):
And I think that after the bye week and guess
who didn't play well right before the bye week, Dylan Reola. Yeah,
he had his worst game. People kept saying, man, he
looked like a freshman. Finally in that game, give credit
to that's a great defense. He got his first exposure
of Wow, that's how good Big ten defenses can be.
And they made his life tough. But Nebraska has a
great defense, and you know what goes well on the

(06:16):
road defenses. You know, Indiana has scored forty plus in
the last five games. Just throwing that out there too.
They haven't played Nebraska defense. You're right, they haven't been
chased around by a polar bear yet. Yeah, so multiple
guys who resemble polar bear. Right, Indiana was a five
point favorite and the open last week. When the game's finished,
they've ballooned up to a six and a half point favorite.

(06:37):
So Vegas thinks that Vegas has taken a lot of
action on Indiana. They're a touchdown favorite now the over
under is forty nine and a half. I still think
I want Nebraska to win. I think this is Indiana's
coming out party.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
I really do. I think that they're gonna win. It's
going to be twenty seven to twenty one. I think
it's going to be a little bit of a slower
slog type of game. But I think I think Nebraska
is they cannot turn the ball over even one time.
It is gonna put too much juice in that building
and put too much juice for Kurt Signetti and his
team because they thrive on that sort of thing. They

(07:11):
haven't even turned people over that much. You cannot be
gifting that. I think though Indiana's prime for this. I
think it's gonna be a one possession game. I hope
Nebraska wins, but my head is telling me, I think
Indiana is going to get this done in a major
home game in national television, in that early slot. What's
the final score for you? I'll say, Huskers take this one.
I think it's to me. I just Indiana has not

(07:34):
played a defense like ours before, and I've seen it
so many times. People think that just because they watched
something happen, sure it's gonna still happen. I think today
or tomorrow is the day when Indiana's offense realizes it's
not that good, so they have to play a good defense.
I think Indiana doesn't get out of the twenties point wise.
I think they stick around like twenty twenty one, and

(07:55):
I think the Huskers win. I'll say like thirty four
to twenty one. I think Dylan Raiola well in.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
He doesn't play perfect, but I think he looks great
on the road, and people start looking at this like thinking, man,
that guy took that bye week with a purpose. He
got better, and we look pretty good down the stretch.
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Interesting, Well, Nebraska schedule kind of opens up. It's not
quite as easy as Indiana, but there are some more
Winnabowl games, but a win here would make them Bowl eligible.
And I know, even if he's not saying it, Matt
Rule is thinking about that, and as are all Husker
