Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wildfires that have broken out in southern California, and they
have them in a map the doing like if you're
noticing these the wind gusts got up to one hundred
miles an hour, which really is what fires you know,
of course utilized that wind speed to grow. And we're

(00:20):
looking at buildings just absolutely destroyed. We're talking about homes.
People have to be evacuated from these homes. The Tyler fire,
which was a bit further to the south than the
other four of them, which are much closer to Los Angeles,
that has been mostly contained before I got done with

(00:42):
my morning show. The Woodlely fire seems to be a
bit contained at this point. It was the fourth fire
that began, or the fifth fire that began, so the
two that kind of started overnight, and the Tyler fire
and the Woodlely fire seemed to be mostly at least contained. Now,

(01:03):
if you go on social media, you'll find videos of
what is left of some people's homes. And the Palisades
fire is the one that has created the most damaged
here it's closest to the coast and just I don't know,
it's blowing me away. Kind of the scary video that
we've seen there's a fire called the Eton Fire that's

(01:27):
in a suburb or a neighborhood in the Los Angeles area,
and two people have died in that fire. To this point,
they've told many people to evacuate. Close to forty thousand
people have been told to evacuate. Some of the videos
that we're seeing from those people as they've been trying
to leave their homes and seeing how the fires have

(01:50):
just kind of emblazoned very quickly outside of their homes.
I just couldn't imagine trying to gather what I can
and get out of there, but people's entire homes are
just gone. Another sidebar of this, which is just horrific
is that police have arrested to people already for attempts

(02:12):
of looting these evacuated homes, which I don't think this
is directly. You can't just say this is a California thing,
but this is definitely a large thing here. And I
find this to be a disconcerting part of our society
is that we have these large and unstable communities. In

(02:35):
some cases that you have people that are going to
use tragedy for some to try to advance their own wants.
By going into their homes and trying to loot them.
So La City Police Chief Jim McDonald and Los Angeles
County Sheriff Robert Luna, both in a joint statement, said

(02:56):
that they are going to prosecute everybody who is caught
attempting to loot. And that's one good thing about southern California,
as most areas are well covered with cameras, so that
is a huge deal. Excuse me, there's a huge deal
happening right now. They're calling it a worst case scenario.
They are, you know, these are well to do neighborhoods

(03:18):
and there are a ton of people that are displaced
from this. And Palisades High School, which you would recognize
from some films, it seems to be caught in the fire.
Many public schools are closed, they've closed Hollywood Universal today
and the winds still being reported at near one hundred

(03:41):
miles an hour, which is making it so difficult to
try to contain this fire. So we will do the
best that we can to keep you posted on this
and try to understand what it will take to try
to slow this down. But a passenger on an airline
caught just some incredible footage as they were coming in

(04:03):
toward Lax of these wildfires that basically you can see
the wall of the fire and how much smoke is
in the air. The National Guard is being deployed to
help assist the best that they can as well, according
to Gavin Newsom, and it's difficult, it's difficult to describe

(04:24):
the destruction that we're seeing so far today on this
they're still saying, as mentioned that Palisades Fire zero percent
contained and so it will continue to rage and run
through whatever it can. And we see this happening with
different aspects of California and Canada and places on the

(04:46):
West coast and very dry areas. Saw on social media,
one person shared a very interesting video last night, and
this is as the fires were starting to really kick
up in a lot of parts of this Los Angeles area,
and you can see with the wind blowing and was

(05:09):
very strong last night as well, over sixty mile an
hour gusts. They see their power lines kind of sparking
as trees are kind of running into it, and this
person says, can we get some help here, and the
firefighters the fire department says, we can't come to you
unless something's actually on fire. And that's disconcerting. And then

(05:32):
they called the power company and said, hey, can we
shut the power off for now? So maybe if this
were to get knocked down, it wouldn't spark up a
fire with his dry conditions over here, And the power
company said no, And that could have something to do
with access to water in what the fire department needs
would be in the area. But just about as big

(05:53):
a nightmare fuel as you're going to find as far
as natural disasters are concerned. They're investigating the cause of these,
but I would imagine dry conditions along with anything that
would kind of start one or two of these fires.
Then on top of that the crazy wind gusts.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
That is what is so scary.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
About this is it's going to be difficult to contain this,
and hopefully they are able to do the best that
they can before it gets into too many additional neighborhoods
or into areas that are highly trafficked by people. You know,
you can see the blazes from different parts of highly
walked or driven areas in the Los Angeles area, including

(06:34):
Santa Anita Park, which is a horse track. They were
seeing that this morning. Some of the fires in the
distance this morning I mean, it just gives the nightmare
fuel for that as well. You know, the hundreds of
horses that are there on top of the people, on
that beautiful landscape, and now we're talking about how you know,
dangerous it could be within the next day or so

(06:56):
for them just to be sitting there. I have no
idea what they could possibly do. The NHL also just
announced that they have postponed the King's game against You
don't want to even guess who they're playing. The Calgary
Flames are in town to play the LA Kings, and
that was supposed to happen in southern California and LA

(07:19):
today and they're postponing that. So really really terrible stuff.
We will keep you posting on this as more information
is going on, but it is easily the number one
story in America so far Today two sixteen, we'll come
back touch on a couple other things that are in
the news cycle, and later on this hour, hopefully we're
going to get a chance to chat about something very
positive in our community. That's all coming up next on

(07:42):
news Radio eleven ten kfab.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Em Marie Sunger on news Radio eleven ten KFAB.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
On New Year's Day, the explosion of that cyber truck
in Los Angeles or Las Vegas. Sorry, And the FBI
has said that there's an email from sent from the
subject of that cyber truck explosion, Matthew Livelsburger, and he
sent an email to podcaster Sean Ryan, and he sent

(08:14):
a document to that podcast. They don't want to tell
us what was in the podcast or in the email
to the podcaster who is a CIA agent, former CIA agent,
and Navy seal. And you know, there is some cause
to believe that this Matthew Livelsburger was dealing with some
real mental health issues and was in a very kind

(08:37):
of fragile state of mind after being on active duty
for so long and seeing some things that apparently had
dealt with some traumatic injuries, including some brain trauma while
serving the military, and wanted to give help to other people.
He was an Army green Beret and wanted to kind

(08:59):
of say this is for everybody who needs that help,
and hopefully at some point they will be able to
explain what exactly some of this additional information is so
we can learn about it, so we can see and
maybe hopefully help out somebody else who may be dealing
with some mental issues or some true pain in their

(09:21):
life mentally, physically or otherwise, and it's tough now. The
email according to interviewee Sam Schuemate, who was a retired
US Army intelligence officer, and he said he received an
email claiming to be from Livelsburger before New Year's Day
as well. In that email and in the email, Livelsburger

(09:47):
theorized the purported drones sidings in New Jersey where Chinese
gravitic gravitic propulsion systems posing an extreme national security threat. Now,
this is one of several different things that was mentioned here,
and they sent the emails to the FBI so they
could do further investigation. But this is pretty wild. Also,

(10:09):
Littlsburger apparently helped needed help to figure out how to
create the explosion and apparently used artificial intelligence including chat
GPT to learn about how to detonate something in a
vehicle to make it explode. So this guy had all
sorts of issues. So we will see this, We will

(10:29):
see what happens there. On top of that, something in politics,
Attorney General Merrick Garland is intending to release Special Counsel
Jack Smith's report on the Donald Trump case involving the election.
There are two volumes to this, and the volume one
is going to be intended to release according to the

(10:50):
Department of Justice, which told the Eleventh Circuit US Court
of Appeals that should an junction be lifted, that is
intended to be released in Smith's final report to Congress
and the public, and we'll beget to see that. But
Volume two, which covers the classified documents case against Donald Trump,

(11:11):
will not be released because two defendants in the case
could still be facing criminal proceedings. Now, this is also
coming up to this Friday, which we're anticipating the sentencing, quote,
if you will, of Donald Trump in his federal hush
money case from last year, where he was found guilty

(11:31):
of thirty four counts of falsifying business records. We don't
anticipate there to be hard punishment, jail time, prison time,
or even really a finer probation, but just it's a
thing that Judge one More Shawn's going to do as
the TV cameras are still on, and on top of that,
Donald Trump's not quite the president just yet, but we

(11:52):
will see exactly what happens here. And although some people
around him are crying for a presidential immunity. Before all this,
there is a bit of a question as to the
things in which we're discussed in that specific case, and
if they were official acts of someone who was the

(12:15):
president and the immunity itself, and if it would extend
beyond those official acts and include something like what he
was convicted of last spring. So that's going on. This
Merrit Garland thing could happen, and you know, Jack Smith,
we know is intending to resign before Donald Trump takes

(12:35):
office for obvious reasons, and we'll see what included what
is included in here, and if there's any pushback from
the people who are on the other side of the aisle.
I don't know what you gain by doing this. I
don't understand what anyone potentially would why they are cheering
against the incoming president. But we know how partisan the

(12:57):
politics are in this country and that they continue to be,
and hopefully we'll find ways to overcome this and see
America get back to the heights that we hope it
to be now. Matt case is my producer. Met thoughts
on the political state of America with all the shenanigans

(13:17):
that people are trying to cram in here before Donald
Trump takes office on January twentieth, what specifically, well, just
the Hey, let's go ahead and sentence this guy real quick. Hey,
let's go ahead and have this thing where we release
at least part of the Jack Smith Special Council. Let's
just go ahead and make sure that we get all
this stuff done before we run away and he takes office.
It just seems like a I don't know, unnecessary pettiness

(13:42):
to me.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
I don't know. I mean, are they well within their
legal right? Though I suppose right.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
I suppose if there's not an injunction. Now, the Eleventh
Circuit US Court of Appeals was sold by the DOJ
that if the injunction should be lifted Merritt Garland, the
Attorney General will release the first volume of that Jack
Smith report. So I guess theoretically there could be something
blocking that from being released. I don't know if constitutionally

(14:10):
that can happen, but we'll see. That's what these judges
are there for. And I'm no judge. We're just a
lowly radio men here. But it just feels like, Hey,
one last job at this guy that we've obviously hate,
and I want to make sure that we do everything
we can to reduce his reputation amongst people who are
already disliking him before he takes office and becomes the

(14:32):
president of the United States. Doesn't seem like a super
healthy thing to be doing. But it don't care about
the health of America. They care about their side winning
and losing.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
Meanwhile, I'm just sitting here thinking it's twenty twenty five.
Maybe this is the year that a sitting president buys
a country from jail? Can you do that?

Speaker 1 (14:53):
Well, I don't anticipate him being in jail. But even
if he's not, when was the last time a president
has bought a country jail?

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Makes it kind of extra cool? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (15:02):
It does? But is it still kind of cool if
he does it when he's not in jail.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
No, it's it's I don't know, it's uh.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Can you buy a country? Can you tell what a
Bangladeshian say? Here?

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Doesn't seem like it. It doesn't seem Denmark or any
anybody in Europe at this point. It's too thrilled about
the idea of people just buying countries. But I will
say this, this is this is an overreaction for a joke.
But weirdest weirdest version of how World War three happens,
and it involves United States, Canada, Greenland, and Panama.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
Yeah, I saw that come with the Ukraine already being
invaded by Russia in the Middle East, basically Iran's waiting
for somebody so they can, you know, start throwing major
haymakers in the area. And it's Panama and Greenland that
are the major factors in people getting all riled up
about future you know, physical conflicts.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
As far as sequels go, it kind of seems like
most of the major actors bout out of this one.
I guess we couldn't afford them, so we got Greenland
and Canada and Panama. Hopefully they can you know, have
a starring role and maybe vault themselves into stardom, maybe
win an Oscar or two. But I'm just at this point,
I'm a little uh, I'm not bought in on the sequel.
Let me put it out now.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
It's gonna take a lot more than I think Greenland
and Panama for that thing to get going to be
my guess to twenty eight, Hey, we got some more
stuff that we're gonna talk about. We'll have some fun
with stuff going on in the community today, so stick
around with us. We got a pretty big event happening
today in the excartment village area and we will explain
that to you next on news Radio eleven ten KFAB and.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
