Speaker 1 (00:00):
To the news. Here in the three o'clock hour, we
are learning about Donald Trump unveiling an executive order that
puts maximum pressure on the Iranians. You know who's in
the White House meeting with Donald Trump today, Yahoo boom,
doesn't they? That makes sense that those two things would

(00:20):
be like correlating with each other, right, protecting Israel, putting
pressure on Iran, telling Iran not to do what it's
doing kind of thing. So the order says to the
Treasury Department, essentially, it is supposed to execute maximum economic
pressure upon Iran through a series of sanctions. Which what

(00:44):
does Iran have to sanction? What would be the thing
that you would sanction? Oil? Oil? Because a lot of
people get their oil from them, right, because they got
a lot of it. Now, what does this look like?
I don't know. Does Iran even dare say? What are
you think you're doing? What do you think you're doing?
You can't put maximum pressure on us. We're Iran. We

(01:06):
are the biggest country with the most power in in
the Middle East. We will cross you with the camel clutch.
It's another another move that Iron Cheek used to do. Anyway, Essentially,
I mean, is there a nuclear threat in Iran, you
would think, right, you would think so, if that's the case,

(01:26):
then the United States is there. Are they going to
swoop in and be like, hey, you can't be doing this,
You're not supposed to have this, And how much right?
How much of this is actually going on with the
idea that Iran really wants to try to either decimate
Israel or go after some other European nation, which we

(01:46):
know would immediately incite World War three. We're trying to
not let that happen. Right, But this is a personal
opinion question, not necessarily a governmental opinion question, because I'm
sure the government would you know, they would never say
what what order their priorities are. But who scares you more?
Yourean and out of control Russia? China, especially now that

(02:08):
the tariff seemed to be actually taking places ten to
fifteen percent tariffs both going in and coming back for China,
Chinese goods that are imported. You know, China says, hey,
we're putting tariffs on those. If you're gonna put tariffs
on us, gonna play a little bit of hardball here.
We'll see how that goes. I'm sure there's plenty of
farmers in America that aren't super happy about this, but again,

(02:29):
this is the game. This is the game, This is
this is what we're talking about here. Donald Trump is
gonna do what he thinks his best to make sure
that China cooperates with what we're looking to do. You're
more afraid of what could end up happening with North Korea.
Not that North Korea is like the super all powerful nation,

(02:50):
but who knows what that guy's doing, Like, who knows
like in one fell swoop, he could go after South
Korea and that could kickstart at least a regional war.
And certainly other countries who have vowed to protect the
sovereignty of South Korea, certainly they are going to be like, okay, yeah,
we actually got to step in here and we've got
to be involved in this, and this could be, you know,

(03:12):
another situation kind of like Vietnam War. It absolutely is
something that is dealt with at a regional level. But
we're trying to help out to make sure bad guys
don't get control of more than they already had. Not
to say that any of this is happening or there
any signs of this happening, but you just never know, right,
So you have to ask yourself, as the White House,
as the administration, who's in charge of protecting the United

(03:32):
States and helping, you know, our allies, which is a
big part of being a world leader. At the federal
level of whatever country that you belong to, you got
to be present. Now, I know the United States with
Donald Trump, he's pulling back on a lot of this
stuff and saying, hey, we're putting too much of the
bill here. We need people to you know, hold up
there into the bargain a little bit more and make

(03:52):
things fair. Just because we're bigger, just because we're bad,
or just because we have more money than everybody else
doesn't mean that we should be on the hook for
all this stuff. Whereas you know, places like check YOUA,
or the Netherlands or Italy aren't paying the fair shake,
and it's falling onto us to be responsible, and we
have to be the guys that play superman and help

(04:13):
everybody out whatever they have issues. That's not how this
stuff is supposed to work. So how do you align
all this up? I would say, if I had to guess,
the administration does fear that Iran is the most threatening
nuclear type country, But I think the eyeballs are firmly
squared on China, so you have to kind of have
this balance of, yes, we're gonna make sure China doesn't

(04:35):
do anything without us knowing about it, but even more
importantly Iran for whatever they're wanting to do in their
region and maybe even beyond, especially if they're trying to
develop any sort of nuclear weapons, We the United States
are going to make sure that they feel economic pressure
to not be doing any of that and not be
dabbling in that realm, if you will. And that to

(04:57):
me makes quite a bit of sense. Resident of the
United States, What do you do, droll, baby Durrel? Of course,
because you want to make sure that you have the
energy that you need, so you don't need to import
the stuff that you're sanctioning from there, right making it
difficult to sell their oil. You don't want to sanction
them and say, hey, by the way, or on, guess
how much oil you sell. It's like big business for you, right, well,

(05:18):
guess what, We're going to sanction you, But then on
the side, we're also going to buy some from you,
because you know that's what we do. Import export relations
all that that doesn't make any sense. You can't be
rewarding them with stuff like that, So get on with it.
Tell them what you think make it difficult for them
to do their business until they can assure us in
the United States that there is a zero percent chance

(05:40):
of them actually having the capabilities to get involved in
some sort of nuclear warfare, which again isn't happening yet,
but you just never know. Again, it's been decades that
we've been talking about the possibilities of this with places
like Cuba, places like Russia, places like Iran, but you
never know. And as soon as you stop worrying about it,
that's when you get God. And you don't want to
get got because getting got is when the gitting is

(06:03):
good for them and not for you. So how about
we get into a commercial break at three fourteen, and
if you're interested in talking to us about this, your
thoughts about Iran and how the United States in correlation
with Israeli Prime Minister Benjaminittya, who's visit to Washington, d C.
The visit with Donald Trump, making this very public that
maximum pressure is being put on economically Iran. Make sure

(06:26):
that they are going to be suppressed and not be
investigating ways to create nuclear weaponry. Emrie Songer on news
