Speaker 1 (00:00):
I saw mongoose yesterday, and I want people to see
or go looking for it and let me know about
it and we may talk mongoose. And my guy Haeseus
called in. He's got some mongoose thoughts. Jyzeus, you got
you see this monoose?
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Have you ever read the book?
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Uh? Actually, I think I I've heard of it? Is
that a raccoon?
Speaker 2 (00:19):
It's about it? No riki a mon oh it was?
It was it was chasing the henways in around that
area because they ate them. So do you know if
there's any henways in the area where you're at?
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Now I'll have to I'll have to go back and
look at that. I mean, uh, it's it's plausible now
that you mentioned it.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Well, yeah, do you know? I mean, because check to
see if there's henways there.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Oh, okay, that's a that's the next step. I have
to go back to where I found the mongoose and
then see if there's him to look for.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Uh what are you going to look for? Uh?
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Henway?
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Oh it's weighs about two or three pounds.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
You got me, You got you, Jesus, you got me.
Good job.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
I'm sorry I had to do it. It's take for fools, you.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Know, Yeah, I know, I know. Thanks.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
You know when I lived when I lived in Iowa City,
there was also a cougar sighting, but they found out
it was Demi Moore visiting Ashton Kutcher's grandma.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
M Yeah, I bet it was Jesus, I bet it
was all right, Buddy, good stuff. Thanks for the cold body.
Als to you too. He got me, Got me.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
That's pretty good. Not as good as my show opened,
but that was pretty good.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
It's the show open. It's excessive. You loved it last hour, Yeah,
it's it's excessive. I just don't know who in the
right mind would think to make music like that. Like,
I hate it was the seventies, I know. I'm just
like I like to listen to some psychedelics up all
the time. Vanilla Fudge, that's a good psychedelic band from
the late sixties.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
You don't think those two would have teamed have been
gone on tour Vanilla Fudge and Focus, No, no.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
No, How do they get around? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:12):
I mean none of the band members can drive. That's
a good point. Yeah, because like, how are they even
gonna get from point to point B? They're gonna need
they're gonna need a sober companion.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
By the way, Vanilla Fudge was doing live shows as
recently as the last decade still and they still sounded good. So,
you know, I don't know what that means, but maybe
maybe acid isn't the worst thing that you could be
doing to yourself.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
They've been around, I mean, how long have they been around?
Speaker 1 (02:37):
A long time? Yeah, Vanilla Fudge, Vanilla Fudge Band, here
we go. Yeah, they're still active, actually since nineteen sixty six,
and it's the four living members are still performing together.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
How crazy is that?
Speaker 3 (02:52):
That's pretty wild. It's like sixty years, Yeah, sixty six
to twenty five.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Yeah, yeah, it's almost sixty years. Man, go listen to
there a cover of You Keep Me Hanging On. Oh yeah,
that's good. Oh that's slaps. Those guys did some work
back in the day. All right, Well, rest in peace
of the one guy that that died, Tim Bogert he
uh is a killer base guy from the late sixties. Anyway,
(03:17):
we're talking about a lot of different things. I got
to get serious here for a second, because it is
election day. Where am I sticker? I went to my precinct.
I went to the wrong precinct first, by the way,
I thought I just knew where it was. I lied.
I don't remember, because is it bad that I say,
like the church that I thought it was in the
church that it actually is is the same, like it
looks the same. And I just vaguely remember walking in
(03:40):
in November to vote, and I don't really remember which
one it was, so I went to the wrong one.
They both had signs outside. I found it. I got
my vote in. It's okay. They gave me the sticker.
See it's official. I had. You know, when you voted
in November, there were like a million things to vote on.
You know, you had the president, you had the House
of Representatives, you had the Senate, and then he had
(04:00):
all the local elections. Then he had all the bond
issues and all that stuff, right depending on where you lived.
And it's just like, man, you had to do like
homework big time to know exactly what you were doing
this time. All you had to do was vote for
my city council district and also for mayor. Pretty easy.
And we've already given you all the tools to be
informed about the mayor if you've listened to this show, right, Yeah,
(04:22):
so do you want to you want to make a wager?
Not on. I got a couple of things we could
do this right. Wager number one? Who are the two?
Who were the two? Who were the two?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Not?
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Who you vote for?
Speaker 3 (04:35):
What's on the line?
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Uh box of Omel cream pies? I already owe you one? Yeah,
I shouldn't get more of that. I was talking to
uh my computer, and it's it's telling me that I
have to get a lot more steps. So I need
to cut back on some of that stuff to achieve
the body shape I'm looking for.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Stipulation. If I win, do I get to Can I
rescind the box that I already owe you? And then
the record's just clear?
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Uh no, No, I want those old milk cream pies.
I mean I won them last June.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Yeah, that's true. Boy.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
All right, So who's it gonna be? I already know
I'm gonna let you guys, And if I agree with you,
then the bets off.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
If I went Today's show open becomes the new Oh
absolutely not, no no way, no way. People love it?
Speaker 1 (05:31):
No, how do you?
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (05:32):
The people love it? What people who I specifically told
you they love it? Randy loves it.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
He doesn't have a phone, but he did tell me
he came by in one of the brakes he knocked.
He threw rocks at the window. I went to the window.
He said, I love it, Randy. If you throw rocks
at this place one more time, I am calling the cop.
He knows that. But I appreciate it, Randy, and I'll
see you soon.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
No, then, don't don't be. Don't be. It's like the
weird guy that shoot at McGavin hires to make happy
feel more angry. That's what you've hired Randy to come.
That is a very good one for one. Basically, that
is Randy. Yeah, all right, So who's who's going to
be two? There could be two. This is not an
endorsement of any means. This is us guessing based on
(06:15):
what we're hearing and what we're forecasting.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
I will say Jeans do authort I agree, and John
Ewing I disagree. Well those are my two, all right.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
I got McDonald as the second person and you got Ewing. Yeah,
do you have a reason.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
I've been driving through Dundee seeing a lot of John
Ewing signs.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
A little more aware after that email yesterday, I had
my eyes peeled a little bit more yesterday and today. Yeah,
and I definitely did notice more than I thought I
noticed before. Like Democratic people who are informed voters who
are going to be most likely, I mean, informed people
are going to be the ones that want to vote
in this thing, you know, the November midterm elections, the
presidential elections. The uninformed people feel like they should go vote,
(06:59):
and they try to just enough to get by with
the major things. And this isn't me trying to project
some sort of like high foluting you should be informed
on every race. I think it'd be great if you
were informed in all your races. But if you're not,
this isn't a personal attack. But people who are not
informed are not going to be motivated to vote in
this thing. Okay, that fair? I think that's fair. So
when you see a smattering of signs for one candidate
(07:22):
or another, and you know people in certain areas, if
they have a sign, they're likely informed. That should count
for something, right, So I don't exactly know because I
haven't done like neighborhood tours of try it, like in
North South Omaha. I haven't gone really deep into the
neighborhoods in West Omaha trying to figure out where that
(07:44):
support lies. I just have a feeling that based on
what I'm hearing in social media presence, and maybe it's
just the circles that I'm in, it's very possible. I
feel like McDonald's voice has been a little louder, But
you can't rule out what John Ewing's also accomplished. Guys,
been the treasurer for Douglas County. He's been around government,
he's been around politics for a long time in city service.
(08:07):
So you know, I could, I can't put it past them.
So what's on the line here? Like, I'm not confident
enough to put something big on the line, but about
a bag of Guardetto's or something.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
I like my first idea better. I want it to
be in that kind of vein, you know.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
No, No, I'm not confident enough to put that on
the line. That open is in April Fool's open, and
that's where it's gonna stay. Yeah, I'm saying this on
the air, so there are witnesses.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
So if I play it again, I'm in big trouble.
We played again outside of April first. Yes, it was
fun to make, and it's it's fun to listen to.
Once it's a little much. And if that isn't the
story of my life.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
No, you know, it's a little much yodel psychedelic rock.
I agree, what are those guys thinking?
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Can you imagine taking that song on tour and having
to do that every single night?
Speaker 1 (08:56):
That's stuff and stuff. But like I said, how are
they getting from from spot to spot? I'm gonna go
ahead and guess they didn't have a big tour. That's
just me. Yeah, anyway, we'll have something on the line.
I have another thing that we can wager on, and
we'll do that next. On news radio eleven ten kfa B.
John Ewing is listed first on the ballot. I didn't
notice that. I just went in there and made my vote,
(09:18):
But you know they're at alphabetical orders, so that would
make sense. Do you think that helps? Does that help?
Doesn't help be on top of the list? I think.
I think if you're going to the ballot, you know
what you're voting for.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
I'm sure somebody's done statistics on that. Somebody has to
be at the top.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Yeah, but maybe, like if you were in like a
local race underneath, like the presidential race, like people showed
up to the polls to vote in the presidential race
or the governor's race or something like that, and then
there's like other things on the ballot to vote on,
maybe like the top one gets voted on more. Oh
you know what I'm saying, Like I know nothing about this.
(09:53):
Oh the top one that's good enough, I'll vote on
that one. Or i've heard that person before, I'll just
vote for them.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
But this race, there's little literally, like the reason you're
going to the poll today is before the mayor primary,
so I think, and again, I don't think people are
just showing up not knowing who they're gonna vote for.
You're going to know who's in this race if you're
going in here. You're going to know who you're voting for.
If you're going in there and you're gonna vote for them,
unless you're one of the very rare people who are
paying closer attention to your city council race than the
mayoral race. In that case, maybe you'll just shot in
(10:22):
the dark on the mayor race while you're voting for
city council. But I find that to be hard to believe,
which leads me to my next wager with you, completely
separate wager this is not a parlay. What's the over
under on the turnout today?
Speaker 3 (10:36):
It was twenty eight twenty four.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Previously it was twenty four. Gasken Harris came in and
said twenty four percent was the last mayoral race.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Man.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
I will say, I think we did our part on
this show over the last week, especially to get people
ready to go. I think the Morning Show has done
a great job of making sure that people are aware
of the major issues and what could be at stake here.
Seeing a lot of signs.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
I've only lived here for less than two years, so
I can't speak on previous mayoral races, but I see
enough signs that it seems like people are paying a
close enough attention to this. There has it Like when
I was living in Des Moines, there really wasn't competitive
mayoral races like this. So I'm you first, like, let's
let's over under? Like, are we talking thirty thirty five?
(11:25):
I'll say thirty three thirty three? Yeah, thirty three, thirty
three and a half.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
How about thirty three and a hay penny? You over
thirty three point one and up?
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Do I take the over the under?
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (11:39):
I would like to take thirty three point one and
under Oh.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
I'm not sure. First, I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
I was thinking like thirty. I'm hopeful for like forty
because that'd be great. But don't think I got a
little peak of what number they gave me when I
walked into the precinct today. Now again this is like
the new hour, so there's a lot of hours left.
But what number do you think I got? And I'm
assuming that this is the number that I like. I
(12:05):
am in line. So first of all, I showed up
to vote today, and again, these are neighborhood precincts. There's
how many precincts are there in Omah. There's not just
a few, there's a lot of them. So what do
you think? Like what you are you surprised? I walked
in and there was no one else there at noon
and noone? Yeah, you think that would be a pretty
high traffic time. Yeah, where was the precinct that that
you went to in my neighborhood? Okay, it's a neighborhood precinct,
(12:28):
so I don't know how many houses, but it's at
a church and a precinct.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
I'm seeing thirty. Oh no, this is that's drop box locations.
Thirteen drop box locations. I don't know how many actual
precincts there are.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
There's got to be quite a few, because, like I said,
I'm like halfway between two of them, and they're both
like six blocks from my house. So there's got to
be quite a few of them. But I got a
number in the seventies. They gave me a number in
the seventies, so I'm guessing I was somewhere in the
seventies at my precinct, which could be pretty good if
the turnout is good after people get off work. But
you have to remember, this is not a race for
(13:00):
people have just been like, oh, yeah, I know I'm
going to vote on November, the first Tuesday November, because
you know it's the presidential election or as the midterm
or whatever. This is different. You really have to get
people to try to remember to go to the poll
for this, which is why I think even after all
of the information, all the signs and all that stuff, like,
how many people are truly moved to go there. There's
not a ton of TV right that. There's not a
(13:22):
ton of TV time dedicated that you've seen. I mean,
I know the local news channels have done like debates
and stuff, but those were a few weeks ago, and
can you keep up enthusiasm from a few weeks ago
to now? This is why I did my interviews the
week before, because I wanted it to be as fresh
as possible for people. I don't know, what do you think?
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Which one am I answering? You're officially thirty three percent
and under. If I can't take the under, then I
would like to do let's do a window pick five,
a window of five percent, a window of five Yeah,
but see you're thinking thirty. Yeah, if you're saying thirty,
then I'll take thirty point one and up.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
So you think it's above that, yeah, and then I
get thirty point zero and down?
Speaker 3 (14:02):
Yeah? Is that fair?
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Yeah? I'm rooting for you to win this one. But
I think there's a really good chance that I really
I think there's a really good chance that I wouldn't
like I could also win twenty four percent last time.
I'm just not sure how much more. That's a lot
more people, I mean trying to improve from twenty four
to thirty that's not nothing like that is a solid
amount of new people that have to be interested in
this race and vote. So what's on the line? Here?
Speaker 3 (14:25):
A second bag of Guardatto's h I'm going more in
the line of embarrassment.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Oh well, what does that mean? Do I have to
wear a krusty krab outfit? Probably best to make it verbal.
And I was going to say, like, how's that going
to work? Well, I guess we'll have to figure out
what's on the line. But the official bet is Matt
has thirty point one percent and above. I have thirty
point zero percent in down. He has Jeene Stothart and
John Ewing advancing. I have Jeene Stothart and Mike McDonald
(14:52):
advancing tomorrow. At this time we should know the answers
to all of the questions, but to ask for right
now if you haven't voted and you w I'm not
gonna make you, but I think it'd be a good idea.
And if you have an extra hour to barn and
you're trying to figure out who you should vote for,
highly recommend our omnibus that we sent out yesterday on
our podcast page, which you can find pretty easily of
(15:15):
the mayor old candidates and the interviews that I did
with him last week. All four of the major candidates
that we chatted with, and we would love to have
you as informed as possible, and that's what we do here.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Now.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
We're also having fun. We'll have more fun, we'll have
more news, we'll have the more everything. You just never
know what the heck is going on out there, so
you got to listen to us right here on news
radio eleven ten kfab Emery Sunger on news Radio eleven
ten kfab.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
Rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast tonight and expected
to happen a seventy percent chance over a period of
time between eight pm and four am, So you know
something's going to be falling from the sky. Let me
put it that way. Still kind of the same situation
of possibility. However, the the map, let me get it
(16:02):
in front of me here. The map, as far as
the threat map has kind of moved to more south.
Here in Omaha, we are less likely to get something
severe than the area's south of US Okay, eight to
eleven is the is the timing here that we are
in and the coverage map if you're talking about York
and then on the edge of Lincoln more seven to
(16:25):
nine here anywhere between Takema to Beatris with Omaha in between.
If you can look at that as almost like a slight,
almost like the part of a circle kind of shape.
If you go through those towns on your map, eight
to eleven is the timing that storms could could hit.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
And when you say south of here, how quickly, like
how much south?
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Well the areas let me get the extended map here,
because I just.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Want to make sure that the people who are I
don't want anybody to think that we've like, hey, you
told me why on storm and it's storm how far south?
Because this is always moving like we're never gonna be
able to nail it down ntil it's happening.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
So here in Omaha we are at a at a
smaller risk than areas just directly to our south, which
you're talking Platt Smith, Nebraska City. Then if you get
down into Missouri, rock Port, so.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
You're talking, you go, you're talking not just like like
we're a little above the line, but pretty much everything
southeast Nebraska be on the lookout today, is what you're saying.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
And then if you keep going down south, down towards
Saint Joseph and then working your way towards Kansas City,
you're gonna have a greater risk of actually something severe
and lasting longer down there, less isolated and more scattered.
So but we right now we're looking at a tornado.
Threat is low. Greatest threat is to the south of
(17:48):
US not very likely here. Wind gusts about a medium
potential there with up to sixty miles an hour, and
hail possible of a golf ball size. But most of
this is expected to be more likely again south of
the metro.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Yeah, so so a little bit better, a little bit
better than otherwise noted. Okay, cool, cool, all right, thanks
for that. Good job, good job by you.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Thanks.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
Okay, how do I do this? How do I say this?
What's the what's the best way to put this? Again?
It's April Fools that I don't want to get too
all weird and all this stuff. Uh, Dolly Parton and
Sabrina Carpenter are getting together for a collab.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
I thought they already did.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Well, I think they're doing another one like this story
came out yesterday. Dolly Parton, what do you what do
you what do you what do you know about? Dolly?
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Well? She used to work nine to five and she's
jealous of a gal named.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Joelene Joline Joline, Joline Joline. She doesn't say bad words
in her songs, okay, and his collaboration on the song
please Please Please. Now, this story came out yesterday, and
this is the thing, right, Sabrina is a little bit
more riskue with her lyrics, right as many are these days.
(19:06):
Dolly was coming up in a time where you really
couldn't be very explicit and ever get played on the radio. Nowadays,
they just you know, have a clean version that the
radio gets to play while having a pretty risk gay version.
So of course on this Serena Carpenter a song called
Please Please Please, Dolly worked with her, and I think
that's kind of Sabraina is laying right. We talked about
(19:28):
like she's not a Taylor Swift type artist. She's she's
gonna kind of lean I think more into kind of
the Dolly Parton pop culture range. Like she's kind of
just what she's a twenty five year old version of
Dolly Parton. She's got. If you listen to her single live,
she's got just a little twang going on there. Yes,
she sings pop music. I think she could lean a
little country if she'd like to. She's going to maintain
(19:48):
her fame and fortune because she's incredibly attractive, and you
know a lot of people just enjoys the stuff that
she sings about, even if it is a little risk gay. Well,
according to Dolly Parton, she's and of course she can
talk a little bad now. And then so I told her,
I said, I don't cuss, I don't make fun of Jesus,
I don't talk about God, and I don't say dirty
(20:09):
words on camera. But known to if I get mad enough,
and I'm sure she had, I'll chuckle a team of that.
So what do you think? And this, of course, this
collaboration working together, and you're right that it already released
the collaboration, but she had just talked about it on
this But in the original version of the song, this
is a phrase in the song, are you ready for this? Okay,
(20:29):
got the finger on the button?
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Really you're gonna do this to me?
Speaker 1 (20:32):
I beg, you don't embarrass me, mother beleeper, please please please.
But with Dolly, Dolly made her change that too. I beg,
you don't embarrass me like the others, please please please.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
And I think Dolly's version was much better, quite frankly
easier to understand what she meant. It adds more context.
See if you take these dumb words out of it
that are just angry words, you can tell particulate you don't.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
You can tell I don't listen very much so the Fatherhood.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
See how much context Dolly added by getting rid of
that lazy word.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Yeah, but that lazy word.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
That's all curse words are. They're just lazy.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
They're kind of lazy. I think there's shock value. Okay,
Howard Stern, what I am not Stern. I got better
hair than Stern, you do, that's for sure. I did
pretty good in hair. Unfortunately, he actually got cameras to
be on him at some point, and here I am
sitting in this den, this cameras den. I was also
told I had to do social media at least once
(21:29):
a day during my show. You know, Like that's a
thing I was reading in a seminar that is like
good to like just post while you're on the air.
It's like, I have two shows, man, just let me
post about my dogs and my birds. Like what am
I gonna post about? Like nobody's gonna listen to my
show Because I had a good tease on Facebook.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
I think we should be we should live stream this.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Yeah, how are we going to set that up?
Speaker 3 (21:49):
I got I got a great idea. Okay, I'll tell
it to you off air.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
We's that supposed to me? It's a good idea.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
Why talk about it on the air.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Oh so you don't want to share with the people
so they could steal the idea for their radio show.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Not necessarily, but it involves a sponsor. Oh yeah, you're right,
don't do that. See that'd be rough. See I'm savvy.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Something like that. All right, I got a couple of
different things on my mind that I need to also
get to. And this is not just in regards to
the idea of Dolly Partner or Sabrina Carpenter or hard
news or soft news or April Fool's Day or any
other day. You know what we're gonna do. We're just
gonna talk about stuff, and stuff is what we're gonna
(22:34):
talk about when we come back, So be ready with
your stuff. Listening ears on news radio eleven ten kfab
em Rais songer. Are you familiar with the name Ben McCollum.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Yeah, he's a coach. Yeah, he was.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
The men's basketball coach at Drake this past season. Led
them to the round of thirty two. They went thirty
one and four. Truly an incredible season for a mid
major school. They went undefeated in the non conference, which
is pretty crazy. He spent fifteen years as a head
coach at Northwest Missouri State, only spent a one year
Drake and then got hired away by the University of Iowa.
(23:06):
Here in the last week, and a lot of people
are you know, obviously having comments on that. Well, he
yesterday got awarded the Joe B. Hall National Coach of
the Year. The University of Iowa basketball team and athletics
apartment showed a photo of Ben McCollum in a suit
with a yellow tie, not his traditional Drake blue tie
(23:27):
that he was wearing all season, spinning a Hawkeye basketball
on his fingers, and telling him congratulations for winning National
Coach of the Year. There is no mention in the
post about the school in which he won the award.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
From thoughts, so, where did this post come from? Iowa
Basketball and Iowa Athletics. Well, since it's from them, Yeah,
it's kind of your poach underhanded to.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
Poach the coach from a smaller school in the state,
and then what you go ahead and celebrate the fact
that he won Coach of the Year coaching that.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
I'd want to jump in the time machine. Scott Frost
went undefeated with UCF and then went to the Huskers.
Uh huh, and so I'm sure he won some awards
by doing that.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Would it be weird to you if Nebraska in that
moment would have posted congrats on winning this and showing
him in Nebraska gear, Nebraska shirt, Nebraska hat, holding in
Nebraska football, and not mentioning the school in which he
came from when he won that award.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
It would tick off some people from Orlando, for sure,
But around here we wouldn't bat an eye.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
But you would understand why Central Florida would be upset
about that. Sure, Oh yeah, absolutely, so cool or not
cool for I would to do this. I mean obviously,
I've I bet you can guess what Drake is like Drake,
how Drake feels about this, the Drake fans feel.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Yeah, it's a bummer. I mean, I don't know, but
I'm not surprised. Why would Iowa put Drake stuff on there?
Speaker 1 (24:46):
You could at least like so somebody pulled up from
ten years ago. I always state had just hired Matt
Campbell as their head football coach. Yeah, it's been that long.
It's pretty crazy. Matt Campbell won the mech Coach of
the Year this season right before that, coaching at Toledo.
That's where he was when I would stay hired him
the Rockets. The post Iowa State made congratulating him for
(25:08):
winning Coach of the Year in the MAC was a
picture of him on the sidelines at Toledo wearing Toledo shirt,
a Toledo hat and with the Toledo Rockets team behind
him on the sideline. You couldn't have just done that.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
They could have. You could have done that right now
in a way that would kind of be a signal
to Drake that hey, sorry, you're kind of you're not
even in our league. Well that's not even that, It's
just why would you continue to just rub the salt
in the wound here? You stole their coach after one year?
What's wrong with you? But that's kind of the plight
of places like Drake, unfortunately.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
I know, especially now in the the new era in
IL and whatnot. I don't know. I'm oh, I just wonder,
I wonder if there's a a I just wonder if
there is a better way to do things. So I
wonder if there's any thing that we could possibly do
(26:03):
to be a little bit more chill about this stuff,
And I don't know if there is. I'm unfortunately fortunately,
I think this is the new way. Everybody's out for themselves.
Drake is a minor league team, much like all small
schools or minor league teams, and I think the end
of the day was that Iowa was gonna kind of
(26:25):
you do you interpret that post is them celebrating his
achievement even though it didn't happen with them, because he's
their coach. Now, they're like taking some sort of credit
that he's their coach.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
That they're taking credit for his past success.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Because he's now their coach. Well, he's wearing the Hawkeye
colors in holding a Hawkeye basketball in the photo.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Yeah, that's silly, you know, I really thinking it over,
that's kind of silly and petty. He's done nothing for
the Hawkeyes at this point, absolutely nothing. He's won zero games.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
He sold zero tickets, right, He's recruited zero players except
the guys he's going to be all also poaching from
Drake to come with him.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
I get why they're excited. Fran's gone. That's an exciting
thing in and of itself. Yeah, and you got, you know,
a coach that's kind of on his way up.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
It seems like. Yeah, speaking of coach leaving, Buzz Williams,
that name ring a bell. Yeah, I saw that he
led in Texas, A and M.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
Yeah. To go to Maryland, that's a weird move. Maybe
he's getting away from trev Alberts.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Oh you think just wondering or do you think the
Seces just too much for him? Too much competition? You
can go to Maryland and the Big Ten and have
a shot because they were what in the final four
of the Big Ten tournament? They were a top four
seed in that and they what a four seed in
the NCAA tournament. Text am, I mean, can you really
compete at that level? He's done well for them, Yeah,
(27:47):
and he did good, good stuff at Marquette before that. Anyway,
college basketball crowd last night, Nebraska was able to pull
away from Arizona State at the end in one eighty
six to seven. They will play Georgetown, who have got
a close win over Washington State. And what was a
pretty fun game to watch last night that game will
(28:07):
be taking place on Wednesday night and we'll talk more
about that, but it seems like a pretty fun deal.
Good for the Huskers, little bad taste out of their mouths,
see how deep they can go. Certainly a winnable game
against Georgetown. We'll uncover that coming up. Stick around. Thanks
for listening. Four o'clock hour is gonna be on deck.
And if you're gonna have fun, you wanna have some
April Fools gig or whatever, email me Emory atkfab dot com.
