Speaker 1 (00:00):
How did I do it? That's what everybody in Coooner
Country is asking again. The Cooner Man wins the March
Madness NCAA College basketball brackets, and this time, frankly, it
wasn't even close. I had picked all four of the
(00:21):
final four teams. I got every single one of them right,
and of course I picked Florida to win it all. Mike,
who's supposed to be our sports expert here on the
Kooner Report, didn't do very well. Sandy even worse. So
what is the secret to my success? How does a
guy like me, who's really not a sports junkie at all,
(00:44):
watches a little bit of college basketball, but certainly not
wal to wall coverage. I'm not a big sports college
basketball fanatic, far from it. Yet year after year I
keep winning the bracket like I just did this year.
As I said to Mike, and I want to stress
again to all of you, the entire audience, when you
(01:06):
make predictions about sports and sporting events, it's always important
think with your head, not with your heart. Go with
your head, never with your heart. Because you like a team,
because you want a team to win, is not reason
(01:26):
enough for you to pick them. You have to pick
the best team that your mind tells you is the
best team that will say the NCAA Tournament that they
are able to put on the floor. So why did
I pick Florida. They had all the momentum going into
the tournament. They had the talent, they had the depth,
(01:48):
they had the hunger. Frankly, it was a no brainer.
I dubbed them the Buzzsaw team because they were an
absolute buzz saw throughout the entire tournament. And I warned
my I warned, Sandy, don't go with your heart, go
with your head. Auburn very good team, loaded with talent.
(02:09):
That's why I knew they were going to make it
to the final four. But when I saw them playing Florida,
no one's beating the bus. Saw it was easy. I
went with Florida Duke versus Houston Duke. On paper has
the best team in the country. Most people had them
predicting that they were going to win it all. I
(02:30):
saw what Florida had that Duke didn't have, and that
was the intangibles. They had, the hunger, they had, the desire.
Duke almost thought they were owed the title, and that
sense of entitlement is what ultimately cost them Houston suffocating defense,
extremely well coached. I loved their coach. They just don't
(02:54):
have the offensive firepower to go all the way and
win the championship. So the secret to my sauce very simple.
Do your homework, look at the teams, look at the
talent that's on the floor, look at who's coming in
as hot in the tournament. And then go with your
(03:16):
head and not with your heart. I'm not saying it's
gonna be one hundred percent, but eighty to ninety percent
of the time, you're gonna get the right pick. You're
gonna make the right choice, and like me again this year,
you're gonna win your bracket. There are now two sayings
in Las Vegas. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
(03:40):
But after this performance this year again by the cooner Man,
they've just invented another one just for me. Never, and
I mean never bet against the cooner Man. Sandy and
Mike learn this lesson the hard way.
