Speaker 1 (00:00):
My friends. This is now the question Congress will be
taking up soon, and it's because of the first ever
law passed in Australia in the entire world that bans
social media for those under the age of sixteen, and
Denmark says they'll pass a similar law in a few months,
(00:22):
so will Norway, New Zealand, maybe even much of the
European Union, and now both Democrats and Republicans, eggdon by
many parents and child welfare advocates want to do the
same here in the United States of America, and their
arguments are very easy to see, and frankly I sympathize
(00:45):
with it that this rampant use of social media, especially
by teens and tweens, has gotten out of control. The
average thirteen year old spends over four hours at day
day on social media. Seventeen year olds nearly six hours
(01:07):
a day here in the United States, across Europe, Australia,
New Zealand, much of the developed world. And it's not
just that they're spending so much time on garbage and
things that are stupid and a clear waste of time.
Much of the content is poisonous, it is toxic, it
(01:27):
is destructive, Pornography, cyber bullying, platforms that exploit people's loneliness,
their vulnerability, depression, suicide, It goes on and on and on.
We are rearing a generation now that has had its
(01:50):
brain rewired from this constant, ubiquitous, all pervasive use of
social media, and so it has led to skyrocketing mental
health problems, much higher suicide rates, all kinds of personal problems.
Academics now are suffering. Children's health is suffering. Parents say
(02:13):
they don't know what to do, they are at a loss,
and so a government ban seems like the answer. But
is it As I said on the air and I
want to repeat it, yes, I do believe most of
social media, whether it's Facebook, x, Instagram, you name it, TikTok, whatever, Snapchat, Reddit,
(02:41):
those are the media platforms that are banned in Australia
and that they want to ban for kids under sixteen
in Europe and here in the United States. Is much
of it poison yes? Is it garbage yes? Is it
very bad for kids? Yes. That's the job of a parent,
(03:02):
not the job of the government or the state. This
is big government and big Brother on steroids where they
are again co opting parental authority, parental control and yes,
parental responsibility. Grace and I monitor our children social media use.
(03:24):
Ashton is fifteen, Ava is thirteen. They are limited to
only one hour a day. We know exactly what they're
downloading because we've coordinated their phones with Grace's phone, so
we know anything that they download any social media platform.
(03:44):
They try to access what they're watching at all times.
Plus they have a sixty minute limit. That's it. That's all. Now,
other parents may choose to do it differently. I don't
believe in one size fits all, but my point is,
or don't even have your child have a phone, or
(04:05):
if you need a phone for your child for emergency reasons,
they can get a flip phone. They can call text
on a flip phone. They don't need to have an
iPhone or a smartphone. My point is this should be
the decision of the parents, not of the government, because,
trust me, the left wing governments that are now pushing
(04:28):
this ban, and the Democrats in Congress as well, it's
not about the children. They don't give a damn about
the children. It's about control, and what they ultimately want
is to use this as the trojan horse to push
through what their ultimate goal is Universal digital ID to
(04:50):
get everybody to sign up in order to be able
to be on the Internet or on social media. That
you have your name, your address, would they can then
track you when you go from site to site, platform
to platform. They can watch you, monitor you, track you,
(05:10):
and yes, eventually to control and censor you. They want
everything now done under the full auspices and the surveillance
of an all powerful state. And this is the first step,
a giant first step, to a digital ID system, my friends,
(05:32):
This is like the Patriot Act all over again. Initially,
of course I supported it, as most Americans did. They said,
we need to track the bad guys, the terrorists, We
need extra tools. What's the problem. The problem they ended
up weaponizing it and abusing those powers to spy and
(05:54):
surveil us. The American people don't fall for this. This
has nothing to do with the children. This has to
do with censorship, control and a universal digital ID. You
don't want your children watching social media. I hear you
(06:18):
take control. You pay for that phone. You're the parent,
You're the boss. It's time to parent and discipline your children. You,
not the government, are the ultimate decider. You don't want
your kids on social media? Then you tell them to
get off, and you tell them to stay off.
