Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, my friends, there is another angle to this entire
shutdown that the Democrats are very, very worried about, and
that is the angle about Trump threatening along with the
director of Office of Management, the director of the Budget Office,

(00:23):
omb Office of Management and Budget. His name is Russ
Vote Vought, Russ Vote along with Trump. Listen now to this.
Have told Schumer and Jeffries in private conversations, you want
to go ahead and shut the government down, you go ahead,

(00:44):
you gouts shut it down. You're gonna own the shutdown.
But remember this, if the government shuts down, we are
then gonna go doge. We are going to use this
as the opening that we've been looking for for all
of these federal agencies and all of these federal programs,

(01:08):
with all of these bureaucrats, many of them are unnecessary.
There's a lot of waste, fat, fraud, and abuse in
this massive federal government and in this massive federal bureaucracy.
And so this time, if you guys shut the government down,
they're not just going to be temporarily furloughed. I either

(01:33):
off for a month or whatever it is, four or five,
six weeks. Yes, they're not paid, but then when they
come back, their pay is fully restored, so they get
all their you know, paychecks from you know, the four
or five weeks that they were off, So they get
all their back pay back, and they're given their old jobs. No, no, no, no,

(01:54):
many of them are going to be permanently fired. They're
not going to come back. They're done. And we're going
to go through item by item, agency by agency, program
by program, and you are going to see tens and
tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of Democrat

(02:17):
federal bureaucrats, and the Democrat bureaucratic deep state is going
to get slashed, and many people are going to be cut,
They're gonna lose their jobs, and you're gonna see serious cuts,
serious cuts. And Schumer apparently is willing to take the risk.

(02:38):
Hakeem Jeffries is willing to take the risk. Now, I
gotta tell you this about russ vote. He's not messing around.
This guy has spent twenty years, literally two decades, waiting
for this moment, he vowed when he became President Trump's

(02:59):
head of Office of Management and Budget. His director is
omb director. He said, the key to defeating the Democrats
and the Left is to take away their power in Washington.
And how do you take away their power in Washington.
You have to cut back, scale back the size and

(03:19):
scope of the massive bureaucracy. That's where all these bureaucrats
are entrenched. That's where so many of them continue to
block every Republican issue, every Republican initiative. That's where the
Republicans always get steinied and restrained and suffocated. He goes,
the way to defeat the Democrats is to attack the

(03:43):
very heart of the swamp, which is the massive bureaucracy.
And so listen now to this. Yesterday, russ Vote sent
a letter, a note to every single federal agency, every
single federal program, and said, I want you to put

(04:06):
together a list of what you consider quote unquote non
essential or unnecessary personnel. And those are the people that
we are going to fire, not furlough, fire, meaning they're
not coming back. So prepare a list, because at midnight tonight,

(04:33):
the pink slips are going to go out and they're
not getting their jobs back. So I want to ask
all of you to throw this log on the fire.
Do you. Basically it's going to be another form of
doach they're going to use. Trump his administration, his Office

(04:54):
of Management and Budget, his omb RUSS vote are going
to use this shutdown as the opening they've been looking
for to continue to implement massive budget cuts, massive bureaucratic cuts,
and get rid of so many of these unnecessary fat
cat bureaucrats. And that's going to weaken democratic power in

(05:21):
Washington even more besides saving taxpayers god knows how many
billions of dollars. So that, for me is another reason
why to be honest, I'm like, yeah, shut this baby down. Yes,
not only would it be a humiliating political defeat for
the Democrats, and not only are they going to be

(05:44):
destroyed in the eyes of public opinion, but they can
finish what started with Doge and start firing these useless
Democrat bureaucrats who've been there, many of them for decades,
and do absolutely nothing. If they're unnecessary, then we shouldn't

(06:09):
be paying their salaries and their pensions. Because in the
private sector, call me crazy. If you're considered unnecessary at
your company, guess what they let you go. Six one
seven two six six sixty eight sixty eight. Chris in
the Freedom State, Florida. Thanks for holding Chris and.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Welcome Jeff, listen, listening, I'm a little ticked off. I'm
kicked off for several reasons that people are ignorant as
to how our government works. Now, you brought up a
very necessarian point about non essential Okay, I'm almost seventy.

(06:52):
This is and people are acting like just the first
time this has happened in our government's history. It isn't.
I'm former military. Guess what, Jeff, Military is essential services.
They get paid. Long story short is, people have got
to start educating themselves. And also, you brought the point
that these people work for us. Yet broadcasters, people in

(07:16):
our media, and people in our House of Representatives and
houses Senate and Senate call themselves officials or leaders. They're
not because to be an official means that you are
you don't have constituents. To be a leader means you
can boss the people around that are under you. They

(07:40):
are representatives. Is there a house of officials? Is there
a house of leaders? No, it's a house of representatives.
I'm l seventy thirty five years ago, before the red
before the eighties. Guess what they were reported on in
the news. They weren't called officials. Are representatives? They would
say representative so and so, or they would say things

(08:04):
that would indicate that these people work for us. People
in broadcasts are leading people into believing that these people
are our taskmasters. You've got to start using correct lingo. Also,
it's not the government. There's the problem with people using
two words before the government people in. Does that take

(08:28):
out of the hell of a lot of time. No,
that's a that's a second to get to include people
in the government. It's not the government. Our government is
the United States Constitution. That's our government. People are transient
within our government structure. And nobody seems to know this stuff.

(08:50):
And it's very very upsetting.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
It is, and it's very it's not you're right, it's
very upsetting. It's also very disturbing and disconcerting because, as
you're right, the government stems from the constitution. The you know,
the constitution is our form of government, and we have
a constitutional republic. And these are elected officials. They're elected,

(09:14):
they are representatives. They represent you, they represent me, they
represent the American people. They're not our employers, they're not
our bosses. They're not our so called leaders. We're their leaders.
We pay their salaries. Look, I mean, you know, Ultimately,
I'm an employee of iHeart. It's not my company. You know,

(09:38):
they you know, you know, the the ultimate you know,
the CEO and the president. He's the one who pays.
You know, he signs my paycheck. He's my boss. So
I don't tell him what to do. He tells me
what to do. I mean up to a point. I mean,
I have editorial independence, editorial freedom, and if I don't
like the conditions here, then I just have to leave.
You know, you leave right. But what I'm saying is,

(10:00):
you know, he demands and expects that I do a
very high quality program and that my ratings are very high.
And if the ratings are very high, and I do
a very high quality program, and the revenue continues to
come in and the show is profitable, then they'll keep
me on the air. That's the agreement. What I'm not
trying to discuss. I'm just giving an example. We have

(10:22):
a very same agreement with our elected representatives. Are members
of Congress. We elected you because you promised you would
do a B and C. If you don't do a
B and C, you're out. That That's the way our
system of government is formed. It's of the people. By

(10:44):
the people for the people. And notice, Chris, you always
see these politicians, these sleeves bags. They go on and say, oh,
I'm in a life of public service. Really, so who
are you serving? Because you're not serving me, and they're
not serving you. And take this now, this shutdown. Who

(11:07):
are they serving. You're not even serving Americans. You're serving
illegal aliens by trying to give them hundreds of billions
of dollars in free health care. For God's sake, You're
not serving You're not serving the taxpayers. You're not serving americans.
So who the you know, who the blank are you serving?
Who the hell are you serving? And then and notice,

(11:29):
and they're always getting richer and richer and richer and richer.
I'm hired, and I'm paid a certain salary at this job.
If I'm not doing my job, and on top of that,
I am making millions and millions and millions stuffing money
into my pocket. You know what, That's called embezzlement, that's

(11:51):
called fraud, that's called theft. You do that in the
private sector, you know what happens, You go to jail.
But not in Washington, not in Congress. They're paid depending representatives.
One hundred and seventy five thousand senators. What is it
two hundred or whatever? It is basically two hundred thousand

(12:12):
dollars a year. So I want everybody to explain to me,
how does Elizabeth Warren, as an example, they make two
hundred thousand dollars a year. She's now worth north of
forteen million dollars. Explain that to me. That's not public service,
that's private service. Here, Ayana Presley, I discussed this on

(12:36):
X a couple nights ago. Member of the squad Michelle Woo.
She's close friends with Michelle Wu, the mayor of Boston.
Ayana Presley's husband got a multi million dollar contract from
Michelle Wu the City of Boston to do a mega project.

(12:58):
What used to be like a an area meant for
like low income housing, blank you a luxury mega project.
Ayana Presley's family is gonna make out like a bandit.
I'm talking millions and millions and millions of dollars. She's
paid one hundred and seventy five thousand dollars. She's now

(13:19):
worth over eight million. After this project, she's gonna be
worth over twenty million. So she scratches Michelle Woo's back,
Michelle Woo scratches her back or in this case, her
husband's back, and gives him this lucrative, multimillion dollar contract,
which I'm telling you he doesn't deserve. So this is

(13:43):
what I mean. There's no public service. It's a license
to steal. And who are they seeing by the way,
that contract. You know who pays for it. The taxpayers
of Boston. That's who's paying for that government contract. So
what I'm saying is they're stealing our money. You know,

(14:05):
say what you want about the mob, and I can't
stand the mob, but you know, when they're fighting with
each other and offering each other and killing each other
and shooting each other, they're stealing each other's money. It's
illicit money, but it's at least it's not they're not
stealing our money. The politicians are worse because they're stealing

(14:25):
our money. So Chris, I'm with you all the way, baby,
all the way. And you're asking me now to pay
for free health care for criminals and people who have
come into our country illegally. That's theft. It's theft you

(14:50):
are stealing from Americans to give to illegals because illegals
vote for the Democratic Party. It's naked thievery. That's that's
what this is. And you want us to support that.
I don't think so. They're violating their oath. They're not
defending and upholding the Constitution, they're not defending or upholding

(15:14):
our republic. And they're not defending and upholding the interests
and the values of the people who elected them into office.
So I have more respect for a bank robber, honest
to god, I do than I do these wars in Congress.
So no, no deal. You don't cave. They want to

(15:37):
shut down, shut it down and let the Democrats pay
the ultimate price. You want to die on this hill,
Die on this hill, Claire. I don't have time, Claire
in Littleton right now, Claire, hang on. I'm up against
the break. I'm gonna come right back to you. Am
I wrong? Agree? Disagree? Six one seven two six sex

(16:00):
sixty eight sixty eight is the number. Chuck Schumer, Hakeem
Jeffries and the entire Democratic Party are now vowing to
shut the government down midnight tonight. We are barreling towards
a government shut down by midnight tonight. I want to
hear from you. Six one seven two six six sixty

(16:22):
eight sixty eight Claire in Lyttleton. Thanks for holding Claire,
and welcome.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
Hi, Jeff. I just got back from spending a week
in Norway, and I was able to look at the
US from afar. Norway is a much more civilized place
in the United States. It made me feel like the
United States was really and someone else had mentioned this earlier,
a third world country, I mean so much hate and division,

(16:49):
and Norway the people are civilized. They make sure that
their their own citizens are taken care of. I spoke
to several of the local people, many of them have
moved from other parts of Europe. Norway demands that in
order to move to Norway you have to learn the language. Absolutely,

(17:10):
you must have a job, you must be able to
support yourself. I didn't want to go home. I really
wanted to stay there. And I granted I was only
there away, and sometimes you can get you a false
impression of a country. But I did speak to the
local people. There's no freaks there. Nobody's running around with
orange and red hair, nobody's got nose rings. They're normal people.

(17:32):
It's also safe. I went hiking alone. I was told,
don't worry about it. I was in Nolla, nowhere in
an isolated area. I took a wrong turn. I ended
up at the end of a dirt road, and a
lovely Norwegian man came out. There was no fear. I
wasn't afraid of anything. It just being being over there

(17:54):
and looking from afar. It makes the United States look
like a crazy place, a crazy place that I don't
want to live. I don't want to live here. I
mean it's weird. I mean I've always lived here. I'd
be very happy living in.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
Norway, Claire, if you don't mind me asking, how are
the Norwegians when it comes to illegal immigration? Do they
control their borders?

Speaker 3 (18:16):
As far as I know, I didn't see any illegals
running around at all. I mean I didn't specifically ask
about the borders. I just asked them what it was
like to live there, what the requirements were to move there.
But mostly just normal people, friendly kind and everyone spoke English,
so there was no language barrier at all. So I

(18:40):
believe that the schools mandate that everyone learned English. And
it's just a happy place, a wonderful happy place. And
I know a lot of these people moved from other
parts of Europe. I met someone who had moved from Poland,
someone moved there from Austria, somebody else from Holland. So well,

(19:01):
there's migrations from other European countries that have had open
borders that are basically on civilized places. It's such a
sharp contrast to the United States.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
Well, Claire, look, I have to say, and now Croatia
is not as economically developed as Norway. It's still making
its way. It's much more developed than it was fifteen
years ago. I was shocked. It's in the European Union
and they're getting there, but they're not quite where Norway is.
But look, I have to tell you it's funny. I'm like, jeez,

(19:36):
reminds me on my trip to Croatia. I mean, outside
of my ribs getting busted up, everybody speaks English. They
demand that people, that the children, that the kids learn
English in school. But if you want to immigrate to Croatia,
and there are many now who do because there's increased
economic opportunities, guess what, you got to speak Croatian. You
don't speak Croatian, they don't let you in. You go

(19:58):
anywhere it is completely safe. I mean, you know, Zagreb
is the capital oslo is of Norway, obviously, But you know,
my son and I were walking around at you know,
on a Friday night, Saturday night, ten thirty eleven o'clock
at night in downtown Zagreb. I didn't feel afraid. He
didn't feel afraid. Nobody feels afraid. Every The cafes are full,

(20:21):
the bars are full, people are walking talking, and you're right,
they're all normal. They're not yelling, shouting, screaming, shooting at
each other, blowing, you know, a shooting up, churches going
around saying their country is being taken over. It's a
fascist dictatorship. It's they're just normal and very friendly people,

(20:45):
very nice people, very down to earth people. You ask
them for anything, any directions, anything you need. They're very
happy to accommodate you talk to you. And you know,
my son was the one who was telling me I
want to live there, But he's like, Dad, can we
go back on vacation? Every year he goes the people
are so nice here, Dad, So I hear you, Claire, Claire,

(21:09):
I got to ask you, what do you think has
changed in America? What is it that you see in
Norway that they do there that we're not doing here
I've got about a minute, please go.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
I really don't know because I was only there a week,
so I really couldn't say what the difference is. I
don't know how religious they are. I don't think they're
very religious, because I had asked one of the one
of the guides that drove me around. He said, no,
the people not particularly religious. You would think it would
be a country full of God, but he said, no,

(21:44):
they're not particularly religious. None of them have guns. They
don't feel like they need guns.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
When I interesting Andrew and that way, Croatia is different.
Croatia is very Catholic, very religious. But no, I mean
gun violence is almost non existent. The in Croatia

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
