Somebody asked me yesterday A couple I got a couple
of questions, and one of them I didn't get at
all because because one of the callers called me and
they were like, I don't want to say you know this,
and I you know, so I'm gonna pose it as
a question because I don't know the rest of the story,

say that is because several employees that work for the
City of Memphis, they say they got two pay checks today,
two count of two in their accounts on Friday and
late last night. The city acknowledged on yesterday that a

clerical era had made, you know, sending those direct deposits
to about.

Eight thousand plus employees. My lord, they say.

The era has been corrected and everyone would be paid
on time. But May of Paul Young, City of Memphis,
I mean, I mean city council, which is are you
gonna get that money back? I mean, come on now, well,
I guess you could take it out of their next check,
but y'all need to be doing this. I used to
work for this place and every now she's gone on,

well she I think I heard she had gone on
to be with the Lord. But anyway, the lady used
to be in the office. She would she would give
us the extra check every now and then. And I
heard it wasn't just me, it was because it happened
to me. I was like, well, thank you, Lord, but
uh And I went to and I said hey, because
I didn't. I was when I got that check and

I saw those zeros, I was like.

God, you are good. And what did I do to
deserve this?

And I pondered, do I say something or do I
or do I go to the house cash it real fast?
Because that was back before direct depositive and when they
were handling us checks, and so I did.

I've stepped in that lady's office and I said, have
you seen my check? And she said, what are you
talking about? I said, look here, look at this.

She looked at it. I said, is this right? She said, yes,
it's right.

I said, well, okay, well, thank you. I had heard it.
I'd heard it happened to people that worked at that
same company. It had never happened to me, and I
don't think it happened anymore. But that has got that
extra pace. But I said something because I wanted to
be right. I didn't want the lord to say, you

just say nothing, And I just said something.

But how are the city of magnificent employees going to
handle this? And how is the.

City eight thousand plus y'all just giving away money like that?
But I know those employee they got those checks or

that ever happened to you?

And if it did happen to you, would you say something?
Would you go to the folks and say I got
two jicks? I got two chicks? But anyway, back to

I just I just want to know, you know, I
want to tell you my story. And like I said,

she didn't get to tell me everything, but I'm thinking
she was probably wanting to say, wanting to know what
you guys would think about or what what would you
do if you married a man of means and then
he you found out he was cheap. And I guess
she didn't know it before she married him, but she
found out he's cheap.

Hey, it happens, It happens. There are some people out
there being I think, being frugal and thrifty and all
those kinds of things and being cheap are two different things.
Because people that are cheap man, they don't want to

like that. But some people are just frugal, you know,
they are not wasteful in their spending.

this other story? A Memphis police sergeant is under fire?

Is under fire over a comment that he posted on Facebook? Okay,
the comment prompted a citizen to file an ethics complaint
with MPD.

So I saw this story. Maybe you guys saw it too.

Where reparations have has become a topic again. I don't
know if you guys know about that, but yeah, reparations.
All want some reparations. They're talking about reparations again. And
the person who who I want to say her name
the right way, I a young it's not a it's

not a young law. But she's she's a politician in
the White House, I mean at the in the in
the Capitol. Her name is Ayana Presley, Representative Ayana Presley.
I'm hoping I'm saying her name correctly. Somebody will. You

I'm saying it wrong. But she has taken up the
historic legacy of reparations. There's a bill that she's planning
to file. It's a which are forty is the name
of it. Y'all want reparations, which I know we've been
talking about a lot on this station.

So at any rate, he may have seen that, Okay.
Fox thirteen, our sister station, they received a screenshot of
the comment allegedly made by Sergeant Brandon Lee, and the
comment said, hold yourself together. When I read it to you,

if you ain't seen it, hold yourself together. He says, Yeah,
I think if the government pays reparations, then I want
to refund for the slaves my ancestors lost.

can you be that dumb?

I don't like calling people dumb. I really don't. But
you tell me what you think that is. This is
a sergeant.

was a comment too, but I'm thinking because of a
young representative, this is a new story. This story dropped
what yesterday, day before yesterday? Somebody probably posted it and
he posted that should he lose his job, what do

you think ought to happen. Records show that Lee has
been with the department since two thousand and was promoted
to sergeant in twenty nineteen. His Facebook profile said he's
a helicopter pilot who makes more than ninety thousand a
year now. Fox thirteen said they reached out to the
Memphis Police to find out if the department was investigating

this comment. In a statement. A spokesperson said, the Memphis
Police Department is aware of the allegation and it is
actively looking into the matter.

really have to be careful with social media and all
this other You know why, because you might be in
your own circle of friends, at least you think they're

was a friend that really ain't. And you know what
people do, They screenshot stuff and then they send it
to people, and somebody sent it to the wrong person.

A practice that I've had ever since I had daughters.
I buy every female in my family something for Valentine's

two granddaughters, they this is their first Valentine and I
felt so good just getting them that they don't know.
They haven't reached one yet, either one of them. But
the one thing that I've learned is that my daughters,

before they had boyfriends, I was their first male inspiration
and I always make sure that I get them something
so that no matter what another young man is or
is not doing for them. They gonna get something for
Valentine's Day, just practice I've always had, and I think
that that's something that gives them confidence that they don't

have to worry about what somebody did or didn't give them,
or somebody did or didn't do for them. And that's
one the next thing I want to speak about it,

And I say that from experience. I have to say
that my wife of thirty plus years changed me from
being because I used to be that guy had to

And I ain't never necessarily been broke, but I was
always just kind of, you know, with it. But I
learned to be closer to her way, and in our
older age or elder we're not older, but in our
elder age older what have you, we have more because
we spend less.

That's that's kind of being frugal. Now do you tip
when you go to restaurants?

Absolutely? I tip well, And the reason for that is
because me being an entrepreneur and a small business owner,
I know that every dollar counts and to be honest
with you, so so having the type of company that
I have in construction, I actually go to hardware stores,
which is something that less people do say they always

go to home deep on lows. I go to hardware
stores because they are usually franchised and.

Things like that. But that's supporting small business.

And then you know, if I can find them a
minority business, I'll do that as well. So, yes, I tip,
and then I am conscious to spend with small business entrepreneurs.
