fingertips on the pulse of our community. All Right, y'all,
I got a guest in the studio. It's summertime, so
I've been giving you a lot of summertime vibes. A
lot of nonprofits have come in talking about, you know,
what the kids got for summer, and then I've been
introducing the kids or letting them hear from some of

(00:22):
their heroes. And I'm gonna tell you this young man
and the crew that he's got in here today, they're
not just heroes to the kids, but they're heroes to
all of us.

Speaker 2 (00:34):

just cut up, just yeah, in a good way, in
a good way. Some of the most amazing young men
that I have met. And I want to introduce Well,

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Future, oh before future for real exactly?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Okay, based on his future nine o one, you kind
of look like the other future for real.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Yeah, they say slay Lee and Ray shimmering now okay,
but I see future a little bit yet, Hey, future,

(01:48):
So why do they call you bang bang? Well?

Speaker 2 (01:52):
They called me bang because it's like I really pop out.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Oh you know what I'm saying, see you you pop
out and do what show people? Oh people, I love that.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
I've heard of you said, how chill you is? It's
really it's like all this got our own little way
of being modest. Yeah yeah, it's humble, needs to a
certain degree, but I can be arrogant when I want to.
But you're chilled today? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:22):
You know what.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
This is what I was thinking about.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
You guys are are doing big things because you're not
just on a local plant platform here in Memphis. You
guys are showing the world, uh that you're Memphis everywhere you.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Go, Mephians everywhere we go.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah, and so Marcus, I know everybody when they see
you do they go like they is every time every time.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Right before we just walked in, somebody just said, oh
my god, oh my god.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
I'm like, yeah, we had a lot of celebrities in
the building today, but you might have got a little
bit of my love and some of them. And I'm
not saying that doesn't you know, dim their lights of course,
but it just shows your popularity.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
And how did it happen for you? Tell me? Tell me?
And how did it happen? First time? I would just
like to say, God, God made it all happen. Yeah,
it just started with a vision, started with a dream.
I put some ection behind it, and God did the
risk as he does everything I've doing now, everything I've
I'm doing at this current moment. It was what I

(03:24):
prayed for. I manifested to myself, met this young man
right heard twenty sixteen, twenty fifteen and we've been we've
been sticking together like Blue with his.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Nine So it's like, yeah, that's like nine years.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Or so in my blood right rock and strong, Strong,
That's what happened, And now a song. I made a song,
made the song probably, but I made the song. April first,
twenty twenty two, I saw a video of some people
from Asian people A would say Asian. I don't know
if they were from Korea or Korea dancing to your music.

(03:57):
So again and tell me how did the song come about? Uh,
the song came about me being in LA for a night.
I was in LA for a night and my homeboy Jeffrey,
he's from Memphis. He stays in LA and he's pretty
popular for his music.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
And Jeffrey Prince of bell at or nobody.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Nobody knows Jeffery. This is his name. I don't know
Jeffrey actually, so he's kind of mysterious to hear about it.
But he was out there and I was actually on
the phone with this young man I was. I was
af there for a party with Karen Frost did a
commercial with him, like a couple of years back, this commercial,
and I was aft there for a night, on the
phone with him, and he told me to call him,
and I was like, I'll let me call him. I

(04:39):
forgot he was at there, so it was I got
on the phone when he was like, pull up to
the studio. It's like about two in the morning. I
pulled up at the studio. I'm after by myself now.
And as soon as we get to the first word came
out of his mouth was I felt like we're about
to create some magic wow. And then I'm in my mind,
I'm just like, ah okay and uh. Once we got
in the studio, he laid down the cores and I

(05:01):
got up. I was sleeping and I got up hearing
him saying the chords and I just see I ain't
keep saying it.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
You know, it's not a song I can play, because
if I could, I would. But the beat is really catchy.
So was it like a did you did he create
the instrumental portion of it? No?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
The first original beat was made by a producer named
aos A. But the version you guys here today that
we did to all the time was made by producing
Memphis named Cancer Creek Ah, And it was mixed by
this guy named Jaden Smith. He's from Memphis too. He's
a jogger, will J Smooth, Jaden Smooth, Shadan Smooth, and
he mixed it. Cascer Creek made the beat. He sent

(05:42):
it to me just randomly one day after the we
put out the original version. I was like, man like,
I like this one. Yeah, I need to do something
with this. So the next day happened. We did a
video to it the next day, jogging to it straight
off the wake up. Our other little brother Dram Poe
the video and that's what kind of like spunked it.

(06:03):
And what year was that? That was last year? Last year,
September coming up September. We put to September fourteenth last
I wish I could play it. I can't. I got
you the clean version, c I do have the clean
version for you? Oh you do? Yes? Okay, well yeah,
well you hooked me up for sure. Instrumental Yes, ma'am,
I I do. I got you.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
I got the man Yang for you. It's just getting hot, y'all.
See how that's why I fan myself got a little hot.
But that track, man, that track, thank you so track.
And you guys came out to Memphis Chicken and beer
and you danced and you just look so amazing out there,
and uh, it was fun to see you guys do that.
It was fun seeing you out in the audience and

(06:44):
just fun to see you dance. And I think everybody
was just like everybody that could see, because it's hard
to see when you're down, uh in the audience with everybody.
Next time, we got to put y'all on stagey way. Now,
look we just learned. We just got off of stage.
Just we just got off.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Stay with you, make the stall into it with glolla.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
No, I saw that. I saw some clips of that.
But you were hanging out with n L E. Who's
been on this show before? And who else do you
hang out?

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Is just everybody? Everybody? Everyone, everybody everyone, name them you
can name, really, you really probably can name. We've probably
been around and with them. Yep, yep.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Let's see. Trying to think of somebody that's a juvenile
that's great.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Now, I've never met him, but.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
You just missed him. He was in our studio right
before you got your legend. Yes, sure, for sure.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
He ran the Big Boy on Street Big Woo on
Bell Street? What big Boy on Bill Street? Oh?

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Wow, So y'all just been around everybody a little bit.
So the dancing part. So have you how long have
you been dancing?

Speaker 2 (07:51):
Oh? For me, its next year. It'll be ten years
plus just ten years. Most people that dance like that.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
You know, you say, I've been dancing all my life,
since I came out the womb.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
I mean you can say that, you can kind of
say that, But I was. I was a basketball star
before I dance, and you know you were, Yes, ma'am.
I went from dance. I went from basketball to I
injure myself to God just put the dance envision in me. Wow,
it happened just like that. But me and Lake went
up with him actually like got me super into it.
So so you when you in future hooked up my

(08:24):
first year out of high school twenty fifteen, twenty sixteen,
I linked over him and it was like peanut butter
and jelly. Wow it peanut butter and jelly. PEU. Yeah,
I promise.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
But seeing y'all together out dancing, I don't know. It's
something about it. It's like what you do brings joy,
you know what I'm saying. And it's pure, you know,
it's it's like, what's the word. It makes you feel
good to be from Memphis because you you are representing
Memphis in a major way. Yes, you know what I'm

(08:57):
saying with the song, with the dance, the joking, I mean,
it's like seeing you and a lot of your yates
and all the other folks that dance and do what
you guys do and do so well. You know, even now,
you guys are showing the kids how to dance and
how to you know, come together and do other things
instead of being in the streets and doing bad things.

(09:17):
It's like you can find joy in what you do.
And when y'all dance, you look happy.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Very very like every time. That's that's actually the goal
that we do this for at this point. Just then
figure out the purpose on earth that our purpose, and
just want to change the narrative of the city for real.
Just show these youngins that, man, it's different. Whatever you
think you want to do, whatever you want to, don't
don't feel like it's lame or not cool or I

(09:45):
feel like somebody else gonna feel this way about it.
Just do it. Just do it out of your per
heart or out of your enjoyment. Let God and make
sure you keep God first. I love that so much.
Change the world through dance. It's my mottol changing the
world through d really wow, changed no word through dance.
So this, this whole song is not even a song
no more. Everybody this anthem. It's a movement. It's an

(10:06):
anthem of the city Forever movement, you know what I'm saying.
So we're gonna we're gonna push this, We're gonna push
this into the wheels fall off.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
I like it. I'm stormy.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
It's the post and I'm interviewing Marcus nine O one
and he brought up bang with him and future spelled
with a P. Yeah, okay, I love it.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Now you guys are You're so mannerable, You're very kind.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Where you get that? We get it from my mama,
from Ah.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
How important is that to you and you to the
young people that are listening that hopefully will hear hear
this interview and we have to post it everywhere I
can so they can hear it. How important is that
to you? And how important is it that you show
that and share that in Memphis?

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Super important actually, because those are the roots, those are
the roots of of what we do. So it's like
you always want to fall back whenever you don't have
nobody to fall on or lane on, you always get
your parents. They give you advice, love, crown, just everything.
Gotta respect them, yeah, because if it wasn't for them,

(11:19):
it ain't no us. And I gotta send this to
my kids, your mother and father. That's the root of
the support system. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Yeah. So what's what schools did you guys go to?

Speaker 2 (11:33):
I went to my high school. I went to Mentell
High School, Mitchell, Okay. I graduated from City University School
of Liberal Arts. It was like a charter it's a
charter school, okay.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
And bangs at school, Kirby High School in the house,
bangs on the he's recording while we're talking, and hear
him very well.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
But that's okay. Behind the camera, look cob look cut
twin twins.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
So give me a little bit of the clean Memphis
lingo that that you guys, I guess say that that
I guess kind of wraps the city.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Junt Jude okay. Another abbreviation for Junt is just us
no trouble, okay, just trust. I like that the jump
the gunt and we don't say the we'd be like
the d a dud. What you get you get mine?
I know that's we know that when you say that

(12:35):
all the time. What's up? My cousin? Cuse okay, okay, okay,
get what's up my bro? Bro? Bro, I don't know
what's what's okay? That's one I said that a lot.

(12:56):
You know what I'm saying, No, I'm saying, you know,
what the what's up with you?

Speaker 1 (12:59):
I hear that from old, older people and younger people.
That's you know, that's yes, what's up with you? You
know it's like, okay, yeah, what did it do? One
of our listeners, w w D I a little Daddy
says that all.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
The time, what did do? What they do? Mine? What
do it do? Mine?

Speaker 1 (13:18):
And my cousin says that to me every time he
comes home.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
He's like, what does what do mine? What do you say?
Exactly what he says and how he says it.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Y'all think Memphis is different in that we you know,
the the lingo that shared here amongst people, because I
know there's more words y'all probably just either that don't
come top of mind, or you know, y'all can't share
them because they not it's clean.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Maybe everybody be saying food fool fool food. It's just
it's just all fool the food. Okay, it's just it's
just it's just some natural natural Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
I was talking to juvenile son and he was saying,
it's just so natural, y'all. Just he was like something
about you know, I was outside and then I you know,
he said you need to pull up and I was like, wow,
it's just every sentences like a.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
Down, get with me, slide, get up with me. I
like that one. Get with me, pull up on me? Okay,
I like that one. I like to pull up, pull
up on me, tap in.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
I like that one.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Be like like show show Okay, what is cap over?
Cap is cap more? Like I say, cap more more
of like a Atlanta University universe. It's becoming a universal.
But I don't think they came from me. I think
they came from like Atlanta, but Jap came from if.
But his jab Jap is like you know, uh lame

(14:58):
or just happened just capping, you know what I'm saying,
or or.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
If you cap like you fly flaging. No, I just
I told I told you I was that. I said,
lodging is our word. He said something about Joe's is
the word for lying. You know where they're from in
New Orleans. Now, he said, Joe, Joe Joe's John said different. Yeah,
I don't know what Joe's Yeah, that's what I told him.

(15:25):
I said, we don't say that. We say green, being green, green, green?
Why you being so green?

Speaker 2 (15:31):
Bro? Okay, okay, we got we got a lie. We
got a dictionary for being so green? Does that mean
I don't know, not that you don't know nothing, but
being petty green? Like you're green? To write this stuff down,
we got we got a whole dictionary for you. When
you do better, we're gonna say, I'm gonna send your

(15:55):
old list. I'm gonna send your Holy list. I got you.
I guess you're right.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
So you guys get together. I know you do a
lot of I guess, uh events with nonprofits and stuff
like that. Tell me about that kind of work. What
it's like to be out there with the kids.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
It's very, very, very very enjoyable. It's fun, inspiring. The
children inspire us to you know what I'm saying, keep going,
and it's just get them something to look forward to.
Because meth is like a pretty negative city. So working
with the kids is always amazing. Yeah, always a vibe

(16:28):
because they so pure.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
Do you feel like you the reason why you find
you guys, find joy in that is because somebody did.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
That for you. Yes, yes, yes, shout out to JR.
I know one big brother. He the reason I do
this dancing thing. Really, So JR. Is he the police officer?
He's not the police officers? Well, I was thinking about
the the JO and police office. You're talking about Rico

(16:55):
Rico to man, my god, it's my guy. Yeah, okay.
JR is the father of baby Ace. I don't know
if you've seen the baby. The baby in the video. Yes,
the youngest jigging baby period. He's only three years old.
He's been joking since he was like two.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
Oh yeah you jer ever baby Ceo. Wow. So shout
to JR and baby Ace.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
So what's the plan for you guys for the future?
I guess and you know what you want to do.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Mine? Oh? The plan for the future is we got
a lot planned for the future for the most part.
For the most part, like he said, change the world
through dance and changing his narrative in the city to
a positive one to where when you bring up Memphis
you can't do no but speak positive. Yeah, I love that.
I can't do no but speak.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
So tell me some of the people that you guys
dance with or do events with and things like that,
you want to start there with them, like previously, Yeah,
I danced with Chris Brown.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Little Uzi Vert. I've taught Losey Vert taught Did you
teach him that dance he does? I taught him. I
taught him some chicken moves. He was training with me,
uh jigging at one point.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Really so okay, so these two young men from Memphis,
you guys have used dance to be able to not
just show Memphis what you're doing, but to teach the
world and now entertainers.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
What you do. Yes, this is globalize. It's super super
globalized now worldwide. The dance little really do. I taught her.
They're back and that's jiggens, but that's how joking. It's
a Memphis culture thing. Yeah, And I learned Jigen do him.
So it's all just full circle, everything full circle and
just using it to our best abilities and then God

(18:50):
work it. Yeah. We in the passenger's side. God really steering. Yeah,
So like we got our desires and wants and plans,
but like it's all guys. Man, you know what I'm saying,
How old are you? I'm twenty six, I'm twenty six,
about to be twenty seven this Tuesday. How old is bang?
How old are you?

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Bang?

Speaker 2 (19:07):
Twenty five?

Speaker 1 (19:08):
So you' all about the same age, man, there really
are twenty.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
We leave.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Wow, Okay, because you know I say that because of
your age. You're so young and I shouldn't say so young,
but you are young. But it's just good to see, man,
because some people don't get it or get what they
want to do in life at your age, you know
what I'm saying. So you feel like it fell on
you or you were seeking you. I think Marcus you
were saying it kind of fell on you.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
Yeah I was, Yeah, I was. I was lost at
the point. I was honestly lost at the point. Yeah.
I just I just kept and kept the faith. You know,
God say faith be sized must have seen you. So
all I did was just once I seen it, stuck
to it. And yeah, everything everything spoke for itself. Yeah,
you still live speaking for itself.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
You know.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
I love that you're dancing. It's clean man, y'all be
y'all be yeah, they're gonna teach you some move y'all.
Don't teach me something. We're gonna get you.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Right. They were teaching Beb Johnson and then Bev said,
I she gonna get it.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
I got a little video. I'm gonna have to post
that on Huh said, we got to pull back up
here and do a creative direction video with you. Yes, yes,
we would through the station. Oh we would love that.
We can turn up. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Oh, come on here. From your lips to God's ears. Okay,
now he's listening.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
You're going in.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
Bless your time and the pulse. You know, we always
keep our fingertips on the pulse of our community. So
there's a lot of community events. Do you guys get
to go out to a lot of those. I know
I've talked to you about the people that you've worked with.
I know you did do stuff with Latia Yates and
you know, probably danced at some of her events and.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
Things like that. Shout out to Laudia, this big little
sister before she had her academy and everything. I was
teaching her kids over at Hickory Hill like community center
before she was this big, big, big, huge, yeah brand
cultural She's a brand motivation, you know what I'm saying
for the children. But yeah, we've been locked in since

(21:12):
I was literally a kid, like really like eleven twelve.
She beening me. Wow. So yeah, I've seen her whole elevation.
She's seen mine. Mm hm. As far as the community events,
we aren't based here, were based out in La so
whenever we had the time to pop back to the city.
So how often are you with Memphis? The family is here,

(21:33):
so we're here pretty often, you know what I'm saying,
when we hadn't been, ma'am. Yes, ma'am.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
I called Marcus nine on one. I hit you up
on Instagram. I ain't even know I knew you were
in town, but I thought you lived here.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
No, ma'am, No, ma'am.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
And I'm just glad that I was able to catch
you guys to come to you know, to here to
do the interview, because if I'd hit you a few
days later, you might have been gone, Oh man. You
know what I'm saying, God, look at God, Look at God. God,
Good God. Yeah, for the moment, Yeah, I'm storming. It's
the post Marcus nine on one, just introducing everybody again.

(22:09):
He's in here with future with P and bag design.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Big. How you doing today? Hey?

Speaker 1 (22:21):
So now okay for real, y'all really are because you Okay,
So when did y'all leave Memphis?

Speaker 2 (22:25):
Tell me about that? How did that happen? I lived
in twenty sixteen, right after I graduated high school. Actually,
I got signed to a talent agency out there. Really. Yeah,
it's called Block Talent Agency, my bro. Shout out to
Miles Shots. I don't know if you heard the song
when I walked through. Yeah, when I walked through, yes, sir,

(22:49):
so yeah, that's my brother from another mother. Okay, we tapped.
We clicked in like my twelfth grade year of high school.
He got real close and then he basically told me
I was actually going out there for a documentary I
was featured in. And the same day as my documentary,
it was audition for the talent agency. He was already

(23:10):
signed to the talent agency and I had to It
was same day, same time, so I had to choose
which one I was gonna do you know?

Speaker 1 (23:16):
I had to choose the talent agency of course. And yeah, documentary,
what documentary? It's called Pharaohs of Memphis.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
They was coming. Shout out to Phobe. I don't remember
her last name, but Phobe is called Pharaoh's of Memphis.
She did a documentary on Memphis joking me personally, I'm
like one of the top ambrassadors of Memphis Jicken. I'm
like the youngest exponent of Memphis Jicken that basically globalized,

(23:46):
helped globalize it and take it to new hypes and
expand it. Wow. Yeah, stamped it.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
Did you guys work with I'm trying to think of
his name. Y'all knew him talking about he doesn't live here?
Little little book. Yeah that's actually Miles Jot's cousin. Okay,
so yeah, a little book locked in shout a little book. Yeah,
that's that's my boy.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
Yeah. His videos. I watch his videos. It's like art
art right for sure. Yeah.

was just a young child who was watching everybody and
picked up the sauce oh and kept turning up. Okay,
And then you taught Marcus nine on one. Yeah, I
taught Marcus back in twenty sixteen. Marcus was actually trend dancing.
I don't know if you know what trend dancing is.
What it's like, Nay who watched me? So whatever?

you mix it too? Is that what y'all do when
you're when you're doing your dancing?

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Really started another wave. I don't know if you've heard.
I just want to pants. But those guys, those guys,

and you were like on the one foot, what do
you call that? You said, just do this just a
little there's like some temptation. Okay, yeah, okay, can see them.

(27:50):
There's a little one too, just to get the bounce flowing,
ring the groove going. Yeah, yeah, okay, that's all you need.

It's like dance with attitudes, right, mean it? Yeah? Have intention?

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Yeah, yeah, it's yeah, you put something in it, and
I think anybody can do it because I don't.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Have a lot of rhythm, but I did it everybody. Yeah,
that's what I'm saying. Say I play a beat and
you start moving. You dancing at that point, Yeah, I
