hundred and thirty five. Years Historic Orange, mound founded in
eighteen ninety Is america's first community founded For African american home.
Ownership and we are celebrating that journey to greatness that

Year we had a whole. Calendar we started the year off,
well we first started In. January we met and we
had like about fifteen twenty people that actually represented different
organizations in the. Community and that is what is The Planning,

committee one hundred and thirty Fifth Anniversary Planning, committee WHICH
i stumbled upon being the.

Well oh bless, you BUT i was not planning on
just trying to run. It but we Had Orange Mound
Restaurant week first of the, year, Okay february For Black,
history so let folks.

Know it's still restaurants In Orange.

Mound, absolutely we had a week.

Ago, wow, wow we did and we had a great
time and it was a, great great way for us
to celebrate our entrepreneurs Because orangebound has a history of entrepreneurship.

And they were so blessed by.

It we gave away a little presents you could get a,
win a dinner or whatever they, sold you, know, burgers
fries To molly's, whatever, wings absolutely the best. Wings so
that's how we started, off and it was really a
blessing to the restaurant tours in the middle Of, february you,
know middle of the winter when things are, slow and

we did. That then we did a celebration at The
Orangebound Arch council For Valentine's. Day we Celebrated Frederick, douglass
who did not know when his birthday, was but his
mother called him Her, valentine so he took that as
his birthday and we had tea for his.

That, yes we did, that and then we Did African
yeah for three, days which was a bunch of, fun
a bunch of.

it was a lovely time to be out with the.
People and we celebrated our. History our state historian made
panels for us to put up with our different historic
people and people who have made history in our community
and displayed that.

Created our OWN t shirts, okay, yes for the one
hundred and thirty fifth and we SOLD t shirts and
we did a really good little business. There, okay, okay
because we started with no money and we didn't want
to just say we don't have no, money so we.

Went and made our own. Money good like good. Entrepreneurs that's.

Began so now we have a little change to move.
