twenty twenty five. Enjoyed this fabulous day to day. Well

What's up? Happy Monday and happy Thanksgiving and holiday season
to you. Yeah, and to you too, man.

Speaker 2 (01:05):

gonna pull up a chair. You know, I got a
whole bunch of kids, and you got a whole bunch
of kids. I got four girls and beautiful wife. I
got to feed all five of them.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
So wait a minute, brother, you in the house with women? Yes, man,
I feel sorry, but you.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Know they really take really good care of me.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
But you know what, Okay, you have four girls, girl, so.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
Each one of them say they're daddy's girl.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Now, I've never seen this a day in my life.
Usually there's a daddy's girl that was me, that was
you all four of them. Now, this probably get mad,
she say, yeah, but no, I was the daddy's girl
because I was the first Okay, okay, you know, probably the.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
First child, and and and and my sister is three
years younger than me.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
So I was the first child, a grandchild.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
You started all this out.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
So I'm spoiled.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Yeah, yes, ma'am. And they all are spoil as well. Really,
so we're coming to your house. We're gonna get us
some jam, some dressing, what else.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Well, Reginald boys, I hate to tell you. Oh no,
I ain't cooking.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
You ain't cooking.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I won't be at home. You ain't gonna be there, no, sir, Lord.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Jesus, I'm gonna be Who has some snow is?

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Oh no, you can't. Anybody out there snow is?

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Brother.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
I guess, I guess I gotta go to the rock
and City. Yeah, I go to the.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
That's where you go, brother, you go. I love that,
Thank you for that. Well, you are here to talk
about men beast. Yes, yes, men's feast its back.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
It is back.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
It is back stronger than ever. Okay, yes, ma'am, So
tell our listeners about men feasts.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
All right, Well, since twenty nineteen. Memphees has been a
part of the city of Memphis.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
And usually we were a part of an area, one
area where we would just feed all those hot meals
uh and provide some boxes to those during Thanksgiving time
and days ahead. But this time we are now spreading
the love to different areas. So we're going to North
Memphis to spread some love today. Actually it is the kickoff.
We're going to Golden Gate Cathedral right there in Raleigh

(03:15):
and we're going to provide boxes for the week. I
want you to hear that the boxes for the week boxes,
food boxes and turkey giveaway as well today at Golden Gate.
And so Memphis is usually again it was a historically
was where you feed somebody for the day, right I
remember that for the week, yes, And so we're on

(03:36):
a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday feed for the week. So we're
in Raleigh on today to marvel, heading out to being
Hampton to be with my good brother the Keith Norman
at first Baptist Broad and then on Wednesday with my
other brother, doctor Stacy Spencer and Hickory Hill again my
sister the Queen of Memphis. I mean, he's a preaching
preacher that the steward that's what we provide hot meals

(03:59):
on Thursday. So every day leading up to Thanksgiving, we're
giving a box of hope. I like to call it
that way. The mayor has this word uh and this
vision for Memphis that we're going to be a hope
centered city, and we are a hope centered city. So
we're looking at these boxes to be boxes of hope.
How do we provide hope for the families and making

(04:19):
sure and ensuring that they only just have a meal
for the day before the week. But here's that other piece.
Bi Okay, the kids are out this week, right, we
are aware of that.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
That's why. Yeah did they start today?

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Yeah my kids didn't go Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
So you got a lot of kids that are at home,
and and that means they're missing their lunches, the breakfast
that they normally would have gotten it. And so that's
why we wanted to have this whole idea to provide
a box of meal for the entire week, so that
way our kids aren't missing those important moments. So it's
not just for you know, to feed our adults, but
how can we make sure that the entire household is

(04:58):
being fed and so uh yeah, it's some good stuff
in the box too. I mean we got none perish,
butal items can good cereal. Again, there's some protein that
will be attached to those boxes as well. And so
you got to come while you can, while supplies last
or first come, first served.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Okay. You know what, Reginald, I loved the idea of
a box for the week because in the past we
know that you know, one day people coming back in
the day it was at the convention center or somewhere
where you were feeding people for that day. But this
time it gives people a chance to get boxes. Yes,

(05:35):
so with a different locations that we will go over
those again. So each location will they have their box
for the week or will they be serving food? But
I know the last stop you said you'll get a meal,
which is on there's on Thanksgiving, correct, So those other locations,
will they get the box for the week.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Their box for the week? Yep? So Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
locations a box for the week, and then Thursday is
the hot meal, yes, ma'am.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Okay, and so the box for the week you all
are starting today today today, y'all not one to three
now listen, listen, listen, listeners, I know this going no
listen listeners. You heard mister Reginald say while it last. Yes,

(06:29):
so right now, not right now, but you need to
get on over there at Golden Gate Cathedrals, because they're
gonna start at one, yes, ma'am, one to three, that's it,
after three.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Not at twelve fifty five, not twelve forty five one
p m. And then we were in at three pm
or while supplies last, and so again, uh, there's a
chance all the boxes may be gone by two thirty.
You know they may yeah, yeah, you just we don't know, yes, ma'am, yes.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
But yeah, it's first come first.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
First come first, surface man, and I.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Like Reginald, how you all have chosen different locations around
the city. So the first one, that's the Raleigh, that's
the rag Man. You know why I consider it Golden
Gate somewhere.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
What you consider it was Fraser. Well, you know, so
it's not far from Fraser. So that's what we just
call it North Memphis because you know, the you know,
folks be ready to fight about these territories.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Yeah, okay, okay, so so over there with brother.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Yeah that's my pastor, shout out to my pastor, the bishop.
That's my pastor, Bishop, Bishop Edward Houston Stevens. Excuse me, jor.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Well, his lovely wife, the other bell the deltas in.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
Now the deltas in the Yeah, right.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Then y'all showing that. Well, he's a new past that's
my pastor.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
Absolutely, he's the bishop, He's the good Bishop.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
So today y'all over there at Golden Gate Cathedral. We
want to be clear. I like to be clear it
because you'll get folks who will call in and say, well,
y'all know, we didn't say that you have to listen.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
You have to listen.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
You may hear something, yes, because I would always tell
my students, you know, there's a difference between hearing and listening.
Come on, don't don't get me started.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Brother, that's you know, that's a whole surmony right there.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
I might have to use that. I might have to
use that. Hold on, Reginald. I'm going to go to
our phone line. Maybe a person have a question for you.
Good morning caller.

Speaker 5 (08:44):
Good morning bam, and good morning sir.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
Hey, good morning.

Speaker 6 (08:47):
I am here in the line, but I want you
I'm here and tell my sister.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Now see I'm so we're so glad you called in.
There's a line already.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
We had one, two, three.

Speaker 6 (09:01):
Lives they there putting in different lives.

Speaker 7 (09:03):
We got three lines going.

Speaker 6 (09:05):
Wow, they have to curage you out here.

Speaker 7 (09:10):
They had they are organized.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Oh good, I'm keep on talking, sister. She's giving us
a report.

Speaker 6 (09:19):
Look, yeah, yeah, I'm gonna report this too.

Speaker 7 (09:21):
Bel y'all may not like this, but we wentn't over there.

Speaker 6 (09:25):
I'm not going from place to place. God is my witness.
I got a piece of bread from nowhere yet. But
we went over there to Smackers and brendand Merrill was okay,
we had over fast.

Speaker 7 (09:37):
Hear me.

Speaker 6 (09:38):
Now, it was over five hundred people out there waiting.
They say they're gonna give up gift cards. Okay, over
five hundred people. Statu We stood outside waiting.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
You know what?

Speaker 6 (09:49):
They gave a mail?

Speaker 4 (09:50):
What did they give y'all?

Speaker 6 (09:52):
A salmon sandwich? What I promised to God and have
on the I saw two people to give cards. All
those people's left. We were so disappointed. We sat out
there out there four.

Speaker 7 (10:06):
And a half hour and then the mayor he handed
out the.

Speaker 6 (10:10):
Little box with the seventies in it, and I was
telling my uh, my niece was she and the clique, Well,
he couldn't read everything. If I was the mayor, I
would have said, y'all, y'all are telling a lot to
these people, and I'm not gonna be a part of them.
Bear everything I told you.

Speaker 7 (10:26):
It's the truth.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Yes, ma'am. Well, well, his a sister here, and he's
gonna go back and report what you said.

Speaker 6 (10:32):
Right he reported, and right now, golden game.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
I ain't they in order?

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Which they lined up?

Speaker 6 (10:39):
He got security.

Speaker 7 (10:42):
I thank y'all here.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
All right now? Thanksgiving?

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Hear?

Speaker 6 (10:46):
I thanksgiving to you all, to God bless you you too.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Now, reg you know you see that one of our reds.
So you got to tell the mayor.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Yes, I would definitely tell him different Temple. See, this
year shows the heart of the mayor. Some Memphis has
been led by the mayor, so this is his initiative
and pulling things together. So of course you know we've
been seeing the mayor pull together with just work with
other organizations and other restaurants that are hosting their own thing. No,
that wasn't the mayor.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
May say that again, that was not the mayor's.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Event, correct, So I don't I don't I don't know
much about that. I did see that the mayor was president,
he was assisting, but no, Memphis is the city's initiative
of food feeding and supporting those who are facing food
insecurity at this time. So Mempheast, that's Mayor Paul Young,
that's the city of memphist And so the mayor has
again pulled these pastors together, these areas, they've all come

(11:42):
together and we're working together to ensure So I'm glad
to know getting shut out.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
And I'm glad, thank you listener because she's listening.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Amen, because she said they're organized, they got security, and
she said, I'm in the line. So what did we
just say?

Speaker 3 (11:57):
First come, first come, first service.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
So please y'all, but not only and let me say
this region over because they'll probably saying, well, will you
just announced it? No, I've been seeing the announcement on television,
so people know about absolutely.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Absolutely. So we've been announcing this for at least the
last two weeks internally and externally, and so we'd has
been getting out. The pastors have been sharing it with
their churches. Uh, We've been putting on our social media,
and we've had several different outlets that allowed us to
share as well. And again we do want to thank
you again Bell for just this privilege as well to

(12:31):
put it out here. So word has gotten out, you know,
I tell folks this all the time. Now. Unfortunately, bad
news travel so fast. Good news got to catch the
bus right just to get around. And so this is
good news and we should be sharing it that hey,
that we have opportunities to help families. Now, I really again,
let us be mindful that there are some real families
out here that are struggling. Now, just because you don't

(12:52):
want to go to the grocery store and stand in line,
come on, let's let's really be mindful of those who
are sharing. And no one's out there checking and say
that if you really need the box or not. But
I'm just saying, during this season, let us be mindful.
And if you say, hey, I don't need a box,
but I want to help somebody. Either want to give
it to my neighbor, I want to give it to
someone I know they can't drive, they can't get here,

(13:13):
or I want to extend. I want to help. I
want to volunteer. How can I assist y'all please reach
out to me. I've given y'all my number before. Y'all
have done well with it, so I'm gonna give it
out again if you want to volunteer, If you want
to volunteer and be a part of Mempheasts and just
help out and say hey, look, I'm not trying to
take anything away. I just want to be hands and
feed to what the city is doing and and support

(13:36):
with the mayor is leading. You can reach out to
me on my person. It's my personal sale now right
nine zero one six seven four one zero one zero
again nine zero one six seven four one zero one zero.

(13:57):

They don't play about their daddy, play about their daddy.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
No, what's the office hours?

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Yeah, now twenty four said that you got my office outs. Crazy.
Just be respectful, Yes.

(16:07):
Assistant to Mayor Paul Young. We are getting you ready

(16:27):
stay home and get to the next one, because today
at Golden Gate Cathedral one to three. So the next one, Reginald, is.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
When tomorrow from twelve to two at First Baptist Broad
So right there in the Binghampton area, and so we're
trying to make sure that we are placing all of
our drives and even our food giveaway in different regions.
That's not too far. So again, if you did miss today,
we're trying to have a basket of food giveaway near

(16:57):
you some kind of way. And so yeah, don't fret
if you if you can't get a box today, please
again Tomorrow from twelve to two meet us at First
Baptist broad we'll have some boxes there. Then on Wednesday, yeah,
then we're going to East Memphis right there Nickery Hill,
right off Winchester where my good friend doctor Stacey L. Spencer.

(17:18):
I don't know his real middle name. I'm gonna call
it Lamont. I told him one time he looks like
a Lamont. But that's nine from nine thirty to twelve
noon right there, New Direction Christian Church. And then on
Thursday we'll have hot plates, hot meals. You can have
a dinner right there from ten thirty to one pm
at Christ's Missionary Baptist Church right off South Parkway where

(17:42):
the Gina Marcia Stewart is the senior pastor.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
So so over there ad on South Parkway, Chris Christ's
Missionary Baptist Church.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
That's gonna be hot food.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
Oh, hot food. I'm talking about dressing yams. I think
they had mac and cheese last year. I was there
at the two years ago helping. Every year. I try
to help just with giveaways there, but she's always providing
hot meals and so I know they have at least
food to provide for over five hundred people.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
So good and and and this is going to be good.
So on Thanksgiving Day if you need a hot meal.
South Memphis, South Memphis on the South Parkway. Christ Missionary
Baptist Church. Now let's go back again with those boxes,

(18:32):
because they're only going to be given out.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
Today, Tuesday and Wednesday last.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
Why yeah, y'all heard them.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
So so don't come today, you know, will y'all give
us on the mark and I get two of them?

Speaker 5 (18:44):
You know?

Speaker 2 (18:45):
No, no, no, no, no, no, y'all y'all be fair. Yeah, yeah,
because and as you said earlier, Reginald, there are some
people who don't have any and and and and this box.

Speaker 4 (18:55):
Of food will help them.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Yes, So don't y'all be trying to go to each location,
as you know you have some folks out there.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
We just being real.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
You know, you have some folks out there who do
that kind of strip and you think about I think
about this, Reginald. This time of season where you ask
people what are you grateful for?

Speaker 4 (19:14):
You know, what what are you grateful for?

Speaker 2 (19:18):
And we know there are a lot of people hurting it,
and especially the last few weeks when people didn't get
their benefits. You know, people were laid off their jobs,
no checks. So it's it's this year.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
It's hard for fun, absolutely, and you can add on
top of that grief for some. So you know, yes,
the holidays are different. Moms they be their grandmother, mother's
not there and so, and then others probably have health
challenges during this time now that they didn't have last year.
So there, you know, the holidays bring on all types
of different emotions. And so the city's job and our

(19:52):
job is, just as human beings, is how do we
help carry the burden of our neighbor. How do we
help to just share joy way and just good will
to people around us? And so I'm really really excited
about the mayor continuing division of Memphis and that this
was something that the city is not only supporting, but

(20:13):
we look forward to because again we have churches. Usually
it was at one location, but now you have multiple
churches say hey, we want to be a part of this.
You have multiple organizations saying we want to be a
part of this. As a matter of fact, I want
to say this Wednesday and New Direction, all of the
supplies there was one hundred percent donated by our Memphis
Fire Department. So what happened. Memphis Fire did a food drive,

(20:37):
so all the sentences came and all of that. So
Memphis Fire said we want to support this Memphis, what
location can we do it? And they chose the East
Memphis location. So we have so many different divisions and
organizations that said we want to be a part of
the solution. We know we can't feed people for the
remainder of the year, but how can we make sure
that this week that everybody, or at least enough people

(20:57):
in our city have food on their bellies and on
their table and no child is going to be hunger
at night?

Speaker 2 (21:02):
I love it.

Speaker 4 (21:03):
I love it, man. So you're you're working hard, brother.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Doing the best I can with what I got, doing
the best I can. But I'm not working alone.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
And that's the blessing, And that's the blessing so we
know this is Memphis, y'all through the twenty seventh. But
I also, Reginald, I want to ask you anything else
going on and when we talk about community fairs, what
you're doing for the city of Memphis.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
Yeah, so thank you again. So just a reminder what
my office does. So we have a second Chance program
where we help with expungements and then even driver's license
assistance in Yeah, so if you've lost your drivers like
you need to know, Hey, what's the route? How do
I get it back? You can come to our office.
We'll help you in that and even show you where

(21:45):
there may be some organizations that will partner with some
of those expenses and fees. But definitely with expungements, we
help you if you have things on your record that
can be expunge, come by our office which is located
at five five five Bill Street, five Bill Street on
Bill Street. Yeah, we're on Bill Street in City Hall. Well,

(22:06):
my so I got two office. I got two states.
It's about the Community Affairs operates off Bill Street. But
my day to day I am in City Hume.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Five five five Bill Street. That's where that's down. I
think I know where that office space is right there.
Is that close to Danny Thomas.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
It is definitely close to Danny Thomas. Right, it's that
glass building. This is all yeah, right through in the corner. Okay, okay, yes, ma'am.
And so there we deal with expungements. Also there we
deal with opportunity youth, so kids from the ages of
fourteen to twenty four, sixteen to twenty four, excuse me,
we provide job opportunities for them or get them back

(22:41):
in school. And if you have police complaints, right, but
you said, hey, I was you know, I got pulled
over and I felt like what the officer said to me,
you know, I felt violated or something like that. We
have a police Advisory Review Committee that is housed in
our building as well, so you can make police complaints there.
And so we're constantly boots on the ground and building

(23:03):
things in our community and providing food and next month
we're giving Christmas baskets away as well. So listen, I
may Or has he's working. He's doing our work here,
and I really appreciate the things that he's doing.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
Good.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
Go to our phone lines to talk with you. Nine
zero one five three five nine three four two eight
hundred five zero three nine three four two eight three
three five three five nine three four two.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
Will get you in to me.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
Good morning caller, Hey, how are you doing today? Hey,
Princip de jolls Reginald, he's the dear slayer, he is
the croppie killer, the king of the catfish.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Oh my wo put my order in.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Prince, did you hear Reginald? He says, you want to
put his order in?

Speaker 7 (23:53):
Look, go ahead, you know. Matter of fact, yesterday, mister Reginald,
I went deer hunting up, you know, on the big
time deer hunter. So I managed to get my second
dear of the season so far. So but there's a
list of people in front of your if you waiting
on deer. But the fishing and everything is you gotta
wait to fishing seats and come back around. That'd be
somewhere around out springtime. But outside my crappie brims and
all of that. I mean, you can fish all year loan,

(24:15):
but that's when I mostly wait for them and everything
to do my best fishing.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Will that deer jery and that deer sausage and all
that stuff, And they don't pick the order about get
it for him?

Speaker 7 (24:25):
Well, you know what they people have been wanting to
deer summer sausage. You know, I don't know if you
have had that, And I love that. That's one of
my favorites, the summer sausage, and because I get it
with hallowpeena put in it, and it's something you can
get you some rich practics and sit back home and
just slices like we used to do, like the loney
and and things really really healthy for Yeah, that's it,
and it's healthy for people out there say, oh no,

(24:46):
he eat a deer. Well, it's better than some of
the things that they got in the store. Hey, Beth,
how you doing today?

Speaker 2 (24:50):
I'm doing well, princing you all right?

Speaker 7 (24:53):
All right? They said you had a great time this weekend.
That's what they told me.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
I had a fabulous time. It was good, good week.

Speaker 7 (25:00):
That's wonderful.

Speaker 5 (25:01):
Great.

Speaker 7 (25:01):
Hey, this the O Reginald. I'm I'm I'm a big
nemicis of the mayor. I'm not one of his favorite.
Well he's not one of my favorite mayor because a
lot of things that he's doing, but I do appreciate
when things are good, I give him credit and for
what they're doing with the thanksgiving mell, I'll commend him
and the city for doing those things, cause a lot
of people won't be able to eat, not just for Thanksgiving,

(25:24):
but the day after the thanks given, the day before Thanksgiving,
they have a difficult time eating. So I want to
commend you because the city didn't have to do this,
but I know that they do this every year. I
just wish they were more involved because I lived down
town and I see a lot of homeless people and
they're walking up and acting for change, uh just to
you know, get a mill or get something that they want.
So I hope they would be more proactive with that.

(25:46):
But my my reason for calling mister Reginald. I had
a friend who's listening right now and he wanted me
to actually this. He didn't want to call in, so
I told him, sure, I'll call him. As he said, under,
you know, they make sure get a lif I know,
if you're ruling for exponement, are there certain exponsement that

(26:06):
you won't be able to handle compared to others. So
they had this program once before and a lot of
people have things on the record that they wouldn't expunge.
So instead a poor plans one percent whatever you can
exponse you can or not, it's just certain things that
you can't expunge.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Yeah, so there are definitely certain things that we cannot
expunge on one thing, again, anything that's that happened outside
of Tennessee, we can't do that. That's number one. Then secondly,
you know, of course homicides, murders, you know, rape, sexual
things in nature that can't be expunged as well. But

(26:47):
then there are some other things that can't not be
expunged if they were any federal things. So this would
always tell people to do in order to find out
what's expongeable or not, just take their office and what
they'll do is they'll run your name and they'll you
provide your social Security number, your information, and you're going

(27:08):
to be right there in front of them and they're
going to go down say hey, this is expungible, this
is not, this is this is not. So the best
thing to do is just reach out to us and
we can walk down what he is and what's not.
Uh and so, but most of the things that's expungable
are the same things that are criminal. Court will say
that we work with them on when they do their
expungement clinics, and so it's we try to all operate

(27:32):
the same way. But yeah, we cannot do anything that's
dealing with homicide and certainly even with sex crimes.

Speaker 7 (27:40):
Let me let me ask you one last question that
I think I may now. He's a really good friend
of us, and he turned his life around and it's
been I think he said about twenty twenty five years
thirty years since since he had committed that that crime.
But still he have a hard time sometimes when you
have to fill out an application, when he had to

(28:01):
put it down. So a lot of jobs will ask you,
you know, have you had a criminal history, which I
think they should have taken that off. That has nothing
to do with what you're trying to apply for this job,
unless you're pedifiers you want to work at a daycare
or your bank robber, you want to work at a bank.
I get that, but as a whole, I think that
a lot of times we got people who want to
work or can't work because of these things on their record,

(28:22):
won't allow them to go to the next level, and
we got to do something to have them. So believe me,
everybody who committed our crime to start a criminal they
just had a bad chance. And that what took place
so I was wondering if there's something that mister Reginald,
that you guys can do to change that format to
where people who want to apply themselves back into society
get the opportunity, because we know a lot of times

(28:44):
people are not going to hire them just because of
something they did as a teenager or as a youth
in a twenties and still holding them back now in
at forties and fifties where they can't get a decent job.
I give an example a friend of mine who did
He made it though, So he did a crime, real,
real bad. So once he got out, when nobody hired him,

(29:05):
you know what he did about himself a truck and
now he's making more money than people probably down in
city hall. Yeah, but no one would give him the
opportunity to advance because they saw what he did and
he changed his life. Well, so that's why I'm trying
to get at, mister rug so and so.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
And I'm first of all thank you for even bringing
this out of so the beauty of people like your friend.
It does allow them the opportunity to kind of reimagine
and recreate their own path. And then when they do that,
they open the door for others who may be experiencing
those same barriers and challenges. But I'll tell you what
our mayor has been very proactive in he's been meeting

(29:44):
with businesses that are present, even those who are interested
in coming to our city. Is this whole conversation of
working with individuals who are just as involved, and we
let him know, hey, because we're trying to remove the barrier,
and we understand that. But if you don't want someone
to go out and commit a crime again, then you

(30:04):
have to give them something to do. You have to
give them away to provide for their family, you have
to you have to remove certain barriers and because their
record has been a beer in the past, if we
not only try to expunge those things, but the mayor
is also having conversations saying, hey, we need your business
to be okay and to work with us, and saying,
I understand this person here may have challenges and we're

(30:26):
working with them in those Uh, but will your business
open the door and given this person a chance, even
though they may have a background. So you'll see, you'll
hear more about that, and you'll see more about that
in the future. But this is something that's already in action.
In fact, we have a program right now called PSC
Public Service Corps. UH, and those individuals who have backgrounds,

(30:50):
they'll come through us and you know, we try to
get those things at SPONGE. But while we're working on that,
they can work for the City of Memphis under that program,
and once they go through at Public Service Corps, which
is is a blight remediation. So while they're going through
that program and they've done well and we got this
off their record, uh, we can also some of them
have gotten hired for the City of Memphis, whether it

(31:11):
was in through public works or solid Ways or in
some other area where they're gifted and trained and talented,
or even with some of our business partners with MLG
and W and other cities you know, and other organizations
as well. So we have pathways, if you will, to
help remove those barriers and to allow them a foot

(31:31):
forward and a step forward into the right direction. But
in terms of changing applications and removing that I definitely
think that it's something that I would recommend our counselmen
and commissioners and even our senators and representatives, all those
who represent us. I mean, that'd be great for them
to pull some type of resolution together and say, hey,

(31:53):
you know, maybe we need to look into this. Maybe
this is something you know, we can either remove. I
don't know, I don't know that process, but maybe that
is something that they can look into it. But in terms,
but while that's all being worked out, the mayor is
creating pathways and doors to making sure that we're removing
barriers and we either helping individuals back into the workforce

(32:15):
or even in school learn a trade so that way
we can be like your friend that says, hey, you
know what, I don't want to go work for this business.
I want to create a business so I can help
other individuals like me and so so again. And I
want to applaud your friend for not giving up.

Speaker 7 (32:31):
Okay, and one lass thing I want you to pass
to the mayor. I love the city. I truly do
bad no I do. I love to say that I
got friends all over the world. I get them to
come and visit. But you guys got to get on
top of your game. The Memphis city streets are the
most horrific streets that I ever driven on. You guys
got to step your game up because we got too
many parkholes. We got too many bed streets for a

(32:53):
city to be of this magnitude and not to show
the kind of love for our cars or front in
alignments and tires. To please, somebody step up to the
plate and start paving, not just going asphot on a
pathle but doing the job proficiently to where they will
have to do it for the next maybe five to
ten years. If you can do that for me a
talk from about it. I appreciate it. That's always bell.

(33:14):
Thank you for allowing me to speak. I want you
and everyone to have a beautiful, blessed take and a
healthy day. And if I don't think they you have
a beautiful Thanksgiving as well, you too.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Frandless.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
Get this last call WD, I a high caller.

Speaker 5 (33:27):
Hey, how you doing?

Speaker 2 (33:29):
I'm doing fine?

Speaker 4 (33:30):
How are you?

Speaker 2 (33:31):
Jackson?

Speaker 5 (33:32):
All right? Long, long time.

Speaker 4 (33:34):
Yes, you have a question from mister Boyce.

Speaker 5 (33:38):
Yes, two questions quickly. So how easy is it for
the expungement? Now? Before you answer that, I think it
should be extremely hard, because what's the incentive for not
doing a crime if the expungement's going to be easy?

(33:58):
Now go ahead.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
Yeah, So there's a process, so you don't just come
in and you know, it's not a one day process.
It is a uh it's it's it's a process to
get the to get it exponged. But also in the meantime,
we host classes, uh and we also teach soft skills
and interview staff. So you're you're not just coming in
and just getting some wiped off. You're you're engaged in

(34:21):
helping your record uh to be corrected and better. And
so uh, it's a it's a very interactive and relational
uh process. And so yeah, it's it's not just a
want and done type thing.

Speaker 5 (34:36):
That's what I wanted to make sure, Yes, sir, And
to answer Prince Charles, if you do commit a crime
and you're convicted and you do time, that means you
are a criminal. Now, all criminal people are not bad people,
but you are a criminal.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
Okay, thank you Jackson.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
Jack you got a radio voice.

Speaker 4 (35:02):
By the way, Oh, don't tell him that.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
Don't tell him that.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
Don't tell him that. Don't tell them that. Thank you, Jackson.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
Bye bye, bye bye brother.

Speaker 4 (35:11):
We thank y'all.

Speaker 2 (35:12):
Reginald voice last again, Memphis Feast today, y'all over there.
They already lined up.

Speaker 4 (35:19):
So I'm just suggesting Reginald that.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Our sister said they had three lines, so you may
have to wait till tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
Well, that's what it sounds like. But I'll say this,
it's worth to try. Just don't get angry. That's what
we're asking. Please don't go off on any other because again,
these folks are volunteering, those who are serving, and so
I'm asking everybody. I'm asking the volunteers to be patient.
We're asking those who who were servicing our residents, our friends,

(35:51):
be patient, right and if you don't, if you get
there and it's two forty five and they've already ran
out of food, he said, well, you said it's gonna
be a three is again it's wild supplies last. Now again,
want to give a shout to Golden Gate because they
well it sounds like they got a well oiled machine
that is already happening. So you're so we're not looking
at one big line, you got three different lines. Get

(36:11):
on through there, and now we understand that the elements
are you know, is raining out there. So please ma'am sir,
please be safe. Do not tax it while you are
driving through those lines. You know, let's make sure our
volunteers make it back home. And you make it back
home and bev as always, thank you so much, thank you.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
And tomorrow yes ma'am, okay, just say let them know
where we.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
Are going to first Baptist Bride on Tuesday from twelve
to two. Then Wednesday, we're heading down to East Memphis.
Right there, a New Direction Christian Church on Winchester Road.
That is from nine thirty to noon. I'll say that again,
nine thirty to noon. And then on Thursday, while there
are so many of us that will be gathering around
family and friends, I want to we want to let

(36:54):
you guys know that the invitation is open from ten
thirty to one to have a hot meal, to receive
a hot plate or plates for your family. For those
who said, hey, it's you know, it's I got multiple
kids in my house, you can come there, you can
get some plates to go. You can drive up if
you can't eat it there, but definitely take you some
hot plates back with you to your home. That is
from ten thirty to one o'clock. And that is a

(37:15):
christ Missionary Baptist church right there on four eight zero
South park Way East. I think they've changed the name
to the area too. To doctor Jeena Stewart. He saw that.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
Yeah, yeah, she's my sorrow.

Speaker 3 (37:28):
Everybody. Look, all the Deltas are just taking over the house. Well,
you know my Fred brothers, Keith Norman and not keep
Oh he's gonna give me doctor doctor Stevens and doctor Stewart,
your brother, yeah and k Case Stacey Spencer and doctor Stevens.

(37:49):
Now yea case. But you know pre Yeah that's Keith
norm you got pre keys. But with thank God for
a good Q opening his door. That's right, that's right.
I think I thank your brother Katha. Shut out to
the shout out to the news.

Speaker 4 (38:03):
Thank you, Reginald.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
Boys.

Speaker 4 (38:04):
It's always a place.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
I want you to come back anytime. Talk more about that.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
Oh yes, spongement.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
Let's because we were doing people were calling. I know
they probably were calling about that. But we'll get you
back after the holidays or something, or because I know
your busyness. But I want to talk about that, yes, ma'am,
because we need to know the rules and regulations and
all that.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
Yes, ma'am.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
I want to say happy thanksgiving to you to all
your ladies in your household.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
Yes, ma'am. Thank y'all so much. Keep us in prayer.
We're praying for you all and for this city. Bell
please be safe because Meph's need to you. Okay, I will.
I don't take all your bags, take one bag and
come back home.

Speaker 2 (38:44):
Man, I don't be doing all that stiff. But I
may bring some snow bag.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
No, you can.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
I bring some snow.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
No, unless you gonna put and put in some ice
cream and make us some homemade ice cream. We can
do that.

Speaker 4 (38:57):
Oh you old school right. Mister Reginald Boyce.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
Y'all. He is the Director of the Office of Community Fairs,
Special Assistant to Mayor Paul Young.
