how did you bring in well, first before get into the New York question,
how did you do Christmas? Whatdid y'all do for to celebrate?
I always celebrate Christmas, well,Christmas Eve with my family and we always
do. They do Christmas Eve ita Bev's house. I have the nieces
(07:01):
and the nephews and my sister andother other relatives that they do Christmas Eve
at at my house and we havefood and fellowship and fun and we opened
one present, we exchange gifts. And this year, Terry, we did
something different. What's that We didkaraoke for the first time. Who your
(07:24):
idea? Whose idea? It wasmy niece's idea, and so to do
karaoke and get it, you know, we would turn it out. They
turned it out and care what song? What songs? Or song? Did
you do? Mis Bad? Iwas doing. What did I do?
I helped my nephew with I wouldron Eisiley Contagious? I love it.
(07:49):
I love that song Contagious. Didsomebody video you? I would love to
see that. I'm sure. I'msure one of the young folks. They
always video. I told you beshowing it. You know, those young
folks will put it right on TikTokInstagram. Don't know me, but but
(08:09):
it was really it was good.It was. It was a good vacation,
terry, relaxing with families, spentsome time with friends, and so
it was. It was good. You deserve it, Yeah, how about
you. You know it's the same. We have always opened our gifts on
Christmas Eve, I mean as longas I can remember. And I was
(08:31):
telling you before we went on air. This was the first year and I
really enjoyed it. My brother, who lives downtown, he hosted our Christmas
gathering and he did an absolutely fantasticjob. My hat is off to j
He's eight years younger than I.Wow, I have are He has a
twin sister, so you got youthe big brother I am. But he
highly it was really impressive. Hefixed he cooked. Matter of fact,
(08:56):
when I left, my sister stayedout and stayed over. I was not
planning to go back, but hetexted me that he wanted me to come
back. I says, you knowwhat, what the heck? I wouldn't
doing anything. So I went byand he fixed breakfast for everybody. He
just did a really good job.Right, Yeah, what about what about
New Year's how did you did youbring it in with that shotgun? Out
in the backyard, I was hiding, I heard so many, I guess,
(09:16):
firecrackers and gunshots. It was likethe rude outside. It was.
It was mostly I heard this yeargunshots. I was hearing a lot of
gunshots more than the fire crack.I was thinking the same. But you
know those firecrackers nowadays, those theygot heavy sounding. They do. And
then I heard a big boom, and you're right, they do. Now.
(09:37):
I have a cousin who lives inCarliville. He said that, I
guess this neighbor crossed the street. The neighbor's son is a police officer,
and said, someone out near Carrville. I guess kind of where you are,
somebody was actually shooting a cannon.I didn't verify this. This is
this is kind of hearsay, butyeah, because it sounded like a cannon.
It'sy. But but but one ofthe things that we are thankful for,
(10:01):
Tyry, we're still here. Wemade it twenty four. Amen,
you said, if you can giveme to twenty twenty four, you said,
and beyond. That's right. That'swhy we're gonna keep hoping that we
go beyond, because that's what alwayssaid. I wanted to live to a
hundred. So I'll see if Imake that, man, you will,
amen, Amen, we'll See're gonnakeep you in here always you one hundred.
(10:22):
All right, this, ma'am.Well, it sounds like you had
a good holiday. I'm just surprised, y'all, tyr, because you know,
Tierry is a traveling man. Helikes to go places that I would
never go by myself. I stayedgrounded this year, mister. For you,
yeah, I had. You know, I visited New York back this
spring, and I did mentally knowthat. I said, you know what,
I probably should come back to NewYork for New Years, but I
(10:46):
didn't. Yeah, it would havebeen nice if you ever visit New York.
Yes, you'll see. Well, you know that. It's like you
hear people always say, I loveNew York. It's a beautiful city.
It's a different world. It willmake you want to go back. It
is a different world. That's right, that's right, that's right. All
right. Well, miss Bev youare back for the twenty twenty. That's
right, amen, Am I firstguest of the year. Yes, yes,
(11:09):
yes, yes, yes, yesyou are I get the prize.
Yeah, you get them. Sothe first guest of this year, I
love it. I love it too. I love it so as we say
in this business, Terry's rock androll. So let's get it. As
you know, I can always doit. Before we begin, let me
give a super super high salute toall of our police officers, all of
(11:37):
our firefighters, everyone working in themedical, the health field, the healthcare
industry. A super duper high saluteto all of our military folks, those
who are active, non active, and especially our veterans. High salute to
you all. We thank you foryour services and I mean that sincerely,
(11:58):
Miss Bev. We're gonna have afew interesting topics today. And as you
know, if you didn't hear BIVSor our show last month, I was
talking a little bit about end ofyear sales. Win is a good time
to buy, and I did say, yes, it is a good time
to buy before the close of December, the close of the last quarter of
(12:22):
the last month of the year. But if you didn't buy, you in
good shape. I'm gonna talk aboutthat in a minute of why you're gonna
be still in good shape. Asa matter of fact, let me give
you a prelude too, if youare in the market, or you think
it's gonna be in the market heresoon, because most people will be because
we're going towards tax season. Iknow people get that money in their pocket,
(12:45):
That money burns a hole in thatpocket. They go and spend all
of it on a car. Butwe're gonna I'm gonna give you some advice
of why you might consider making yourpurchase sixty days, maybe even ninety days
from now and not in the midstof tax season. I'm gonna share with
you how you can save some money, which I'm sure my seniors like Bev
(13:07):
know what happens in tax season. Also, Miss Bev, the market I
mentioned to you on last month, the automotive market we all witnessed firsthand after
COVID would happened, the micro chipshortage, calls the inventory, the manufacturers
couldn't produce the automobiles, and asyou know, Miss Bev, you know
(13:31):
about supplying demand because there weren't enoughchips in the matter, enough chips to
go to the manufacturers to put intothe new cars. Because cars have chips
out the y zoo. They're allover. The players that control everything stirring
wheels, the window up and down, everything. It controls everything. Because
the supply shrunk and demand was high, prices surged, Miss BEV. People
(14:00):
were financing cars one hundred and fiftyone hundred and seventy percent loan to value.
For those who don't know what thatmeans. What that means if you
if a car is priced at twentythousand dollars and that's the actual value of
it, the bank looks at thatas one hundred percent the value. If
it's actually worth the twenty thousand dollars. Some people were paying five ten thousand
(14:24):
dollars over in that market, andthe banks were financing it. When those
folks go, if they try totrade out of their cars, they're going
to get a big surprise. We'llget into that here onto the show a
little bit later in the show ratheralso ms bib Also, I was doing
a little bit of research, andI'm trying to remember which caller brought this
(14:45):
up. Might have been Prince Charles. It might have been unforgiveful, because
he always has some clever questions, but it might have been unforgetful. He
was I think he brought up thepoint of if they should have batteries to
where you can just change them out. Unforgiveful, you called me, correct
me if I maybe it was alittle at it. Somebody said this.
But there is a company, it'scalled Neo Power. It's a Chinese company,
(15:09):
and they do exactly that, misbev. You buy the car and you
lease the batteries, so you drivethe car. When the power runs down,
it's like a Jiffy Loup. Youpull it. And it's by the
way, there are no facilities inthe US yet that I have to noted.
They're all overseas. But you putinto this Jiffy lou like facility and
(15:30):
the machine comes up. It takesthe battery that has lost its power,
takes it off, and they puton a new battery, and that new
battery is only charged ninety percent. And the price, if I'm not mistaken,
I think it's like fifteen dollars todo that. But that price will
of course be adjusted. But letme also add about this company. They
the business model is not that great. I've read that that company is losing
(15:52):
money, and it's because it's backedby the Chinese government. They're just pushing
money in it just to try tomake this concept work. But we're gonna
talk about that if there's enough time. But you do have replaceable batteries in
a company called Neo Power. You'veheard it first on the BEV Johnson Show.
Bell if it is the New Year, you know, I absolutely love
(16:12):
my seniors. It has been awhile so not since I have given shot
out, So I'm gonna do thatright now. I'm gonna give about five
or six folks some high salutes, starting with my friend Margaret Toler, Ruby
Brown, Robert Bryant, Miss HenrienGolden, Margaret Wheeler, Betty Mitchell,
(16:34):
two Moore, Shirley Albright, andmy friend Ralph Scott. Ralph has been
a while since I've seen you.Brother called me sometime and say hello,
I'll have to give you that sametreatment. Miss Bell, I've got Miss
Bell. She's a sharp shooter. She's gonna get this. I know it.
But here's a question for you andthe listeners. The jeep Wrangler.
(16:56):
Would that vehicle be considered a convertthe jeep Wrangler. That's a great question.
What do you think, listeners?Do you think a jeep wrangler?
Oh, let me turn that off. Yeah, jeep Wrangler is considered a
convertible. Yeah, she's a sharpshooter. Do you want me to answer
or you wait? Want me towait? Let's hold it for a second.
(17:17):
I hold it. Hold, We'regonna hold it for a second.
But if you if you're listening withoutgoogling, it is a Jeep Wrangler considered
a convertible. Okay, so let'smove on here, miss Babe. I
was checking the news out and asyou know, Miss Bev, I drive
a Kia, and uh the policehas reported going towards the end of twenty
(17:41):
twenty three, Kia, the matterof the brand that I drive, was
the most stolen vehicle here in theMid South, followed by Hyundai, also
followed by Nissan Niece, followed byInfinity, Infinity followed by Chevrolet and Chevrolet,
(18:06):
followed by Dodge. So I bringthis up for a couple of reasons.
The first one is if you doown Akia and Hyundai specifically at misbeavves,
you know there were a good amountof your models that were manufactured without
the ignition immobilizer. Thegnition ignition immobilizerit prevents someone from getting in your car
(18:33):
and using a screwdriver or USB andcranking the car. Now Unfortunately, I
bought my car back in I thinkit was twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen.
I had no idea what the newswas not out on this. So what
I have done to protect myself, and I'll give you the second part too
of how you can protect yourself,But if you want to protect yourself immediately,
(18:55):
I have three precautions on my car, so if someone tries to steal
my car, they're gonna waste alot of time. I have a brake
club. The brake club makes itto where if someone does get access into
your car, if the brake clubis installed properly, they cannot get the
(19:15):
car in gear. They can't doanything if the brake club is installed properly.
So I have the brake club.I also have these stern wheel club.
I think most people are familiar withthe stern wheel club. If it's
installed properly then and I think comingMan made a point of somebody because I
think his car was stolen when youhave that stern wheel club on it.
(19:36):
If someone who really wants to getit, they can probably hack through that
stern wheel and get that club off. But it's more work, it's more
time. Thieves are looking for somethingquick and easy to steal. So those
two items are definitely a must haveif you can afford it. And the
third item I recommend to is akill switch, and only you and the
person who installed it will know wherethat item is. Also the new information
(20:00):
the update for you right now,Kia, for my Kia owners, you
know, if you know this, some one who has a kill make sure
they know that there is a hardwareupdate available now. Last summer they provided
a software update, and now theyhave a hardware update. And I believe
what that is going to do ismake it up where the actual hardware going
(20:22):
around or somewhere near the actual keyignition. Miss Bell speaking of cars being
stolen and young folks getting and rippingand running in the streets, what's your
thoughts about the folks who are withit. I guess what they call it
is drifting or stunt driving, makingthe doughnuts in the street. We're living
in a time now where that's Ihear it all the time. It's like
(20:45):
in the middle of the night,I'll just hear the screeching noise. I'll
know what it is. I've neveractually physically went out there and saw it
myself. In real life. Isee it on videos. What are we
gonna do about this, Miss Beth. I don't know, but it's horrible
and it's dangerous. It is theseyoung people should know that cars are dangerous.
Yes, and I wish they wouldstop. I watched it. Yeah,
(21:07):
somebody's well, I'm sure get hurt, but yeah, it's dangerous.
I don't like it. Yeah,and I'm sure it's a tough thing for
the police to try to, youknow, manage. But I did watch
a video yesterday where in Memphis someonewas doing a donat. I think the
somewhere in Memphis or a young manwas struck by someone doing the donuts.
Thank goodness, he's okay. Butit is a dangerous I don't know.
(21:30):
It's dangerous. Fun, Yeah,it is, and I guess the young
people get a drilling and kicks dealingwith it. But anyway, let's move
on. That's that's the state ofour world right now. As my aunty
would say, oh, by theway, my auntie just had a birthday,
Happy birthday on essay, I loveyou. But she would say to
these young folks, they you gottaget out their way exactly all rights,
(21:53):
Bell, Let's move on. Here, so Ms Bell, I of fact,
I'm gonna get on this next topic. Let me give us a super
high salute also to a good friendof mine. He called me yesterday.
Mister he has a cool name,Mister Alivarez Converse, that's his name.
He called me. He allowed meto set the deal up. Sir,
(22:15):
I sincerely or appreciate you, andas we we we talked this morning,
I'll be tracking h that deal foryou as we go forward. So thank
you for giving me those those updatesin regards to your your good service and
the vehicle. We're gonna be trackingthe progress the vehicle he bought for his
beautiful daughter. So once again, high salute to Alivarez Converse, Miss Bell.
(22:40):
You know, folks, they sometimeslet me let me tailor this subject
carefully here, because I know weall sometimes get we'll become victims of our
own emotions, meaning we'll go toa dealership, we will see something we
like, and we know that thatvehicle may be more than we bargain for.
(23:06):
You may go in and say Idon't want to spend not a penny
over twenty thousand dollars, and youmay see something you like for twenty five
thousands. But it's what you like, it's what you love like. I
see this all the time. Ilove it, and the guys just said
I can get approved on it,so them it's been of our emotions get
involved, and that's the trap,I think, and not just for cars,
(23:30):
for anything. When you buy something, your emotions get involved, and
sometimes we will make a decision thatwe have what they call buyer's remorse the
next day, the next week,or the next month. It happens in
Memphis, in most cities, moststates, most dealerships do not have a
Once you buy the car, driveoff the lot, you own it.
(23:55):
I believe car Max is probably theexception, and maybe some other shops or
other dealers independent shops that may allowyou to give you some days to return
it backcar Max being one. Butwhen you drive off, you do own
it and if you buy that car. I try to emphasize to my guess,
even when I was on the groundselling Miss Bev, I'll if I
(24:15):
see a guess, I know thatsituation, I will even though believe me,
y'all, I was a sales guy. I wanted to get that sale,
but in the long term I wantedto make for sure I have a
happy customer. Because happy customers theyreturn, they shot with you, and
they send people to you. Andthat's why I was blessed and was so
successful because of those return customers. But sometimes you have to pause and think
(24:40):
about it, and it's okay sometimesto say, let me go home and
think about it. You will besurprised, Miss Bev, how that sometimes
can even save you money. Thedealer may even bend on the price.
They may not know fully why you'releaving. What the dealer is scared of
is that you'll leave, you'll goto another dealership and buy a car.
(25:03):
And believe me, that happens. But I I just want to caution you
that when you're out and Bev,let me also say this before I forget.
We're going into tax season. Unfortunately, there's gonna be some folks who
are gonna buy some lemons. Youknow what happens every year. And if
you if you're on this under thesound of my voice, if you are
(25:23):
a Bev Johnson w d I alistener, try to avoid buying cars on
these Facebook marketplace, especially in taxseason, because you have people believe this
or not, you have peoples wantingto scam you whatever. That scam is
always some kind of new scam. It's it's it's better, in my opinion,
(25:45):
in the in the in the taxseason to shop with someone you know
or reputable dealership because someone is gonnaget taken advantage of. It happens every
year unfortunately. Let me also add, just in case most people know this,
when you buy a vehicle, MissBev, and you throw a book
(26:08):
at me if I'm blind as Bath, when you buy a vehicle, as
soon as you drive off the lot, that vehicle immediately loses value somewhere between
ten and fifteen percent immediately. Andthe people who know this the best of
the folks who drive off and tryto trade it back in thirty days later.
(26:30):
The other item is in three years, it loses forty five to fifty
percent, and by the time youpay it off, that vehicle is lost
somewhere between sixty and seventy percent. So just know that's the nature of the
beast. Miss Bath. Sounds good, You're starting off to a good start.
Good information. As always, heis back in the house, our
(26:51):
automotive specialist, mister they Spitzer ishere if you have a question or two.
As always, what now we inviteyou to call nine zero one five
three five nine three four two fivethree five nine three four two eight hundred
five zero three nine three four twoeight three three five three five nine three
(27:12):
four two will get you in tous. You're listening to the automotive specialist
Terry Spicer and me Bev Johnson onthe Bev Johnson Show on do w d
I A. You're listening to theQueen of Talk on w d I A.
(27:52):
Okay, you mean I'm telling everyoneI see and BEVs talking Yo everyone,
(28:15):
and we're talking for the first timein twenty twenty four our automotive specialists,
mister Terry Spicey, thank you.I can put a handle on you
now. I appreciate that, MissBev. I feel so special. I
am blessed to be gives Bev's firstguest for twenty twenty two. Bev.
I know we got some folks holdingon the phone line, but let me
get give out a few nuggets herebefore we jump on the phone. Matter
(28:37):
of fact, for those folks whoare waiting on the line, I would
love to get your your opinion. Is a jeep wrangler considered a convertible.
Also, Miss Bev. Five interestingfacts about vehicle. Let me give you
this real quick and then we'll goto the phone line. Just five interesting
facts. The average fuel costs acrossall old vehicles is fourteen dollars and forty
(29:03):
five cents per mile or twenty threemiles per gallon. Good fun fact.
Also, and I think this isobvious most people know this, the best
selling car of all time is theToyota Corolla. You got it right,
miss Beth. The number three. The US consumes about half of the world's
(29:26):
gasoline. I think that's kind ofa no brander. We all know that
I said five is actually four here. And my last fun fact is the
brand Ferrari. That Miss Bev probablyprobably has that under her garage because she
got it going on. Y'all.Yeah, the Ferrari. They manufacture a
maximum of fourteen cars a day. That's real light. Wow, I know,
(29:49):
I know. So fun facts,Miss Bev. Who do we have
holding? Let's go to our phonelines to talk to Unforgetful, my guy,
ay God, Unforgetful. Happy NewYear, Hey, Happy new Year,
y'all. I just want to answera couple of questions. I'm gonna
be out of here, man,I love it when you call it.
Ask those questions, just three questionsreal quick. Let's get it. You
(30:12):
know what you know? Back inthe day, I used to go into
an auto gown these auto places, nap or whatever and look at part,
get parts and look at parts. What happened to the magazines in the front
that you could pick up? Isand you have? You know? I
(30:33):
want to answer that, but letme first before I go into that and
get distracted the question that I asked. I know you will know the answer,
either you or father or Prince Charles, and y'all are sharp guys.
Is a jeep considered a convertible?I want to know, Unforgiveful, I
know you know the answer. No, what the answer is? Actually it
is considered a convertible. The wrangleryou know it? Can you can take
(30:56):
the roof off of it? Iam so surprised, unforgiveful, I know
you you're just jiving with me.You just want to say, that's a
dangerous thing there? Can I tellyour story real quick? You most certainly
can. There was a friend backin the past that was going so fas
down a kick and someone didn't havetheir seat there though, and he hit
(31:18):
a bump. That person hit thatbump and went right at the car onto
the highway and all the cars ranover. Oh my god. So what
I'm saying that's a dangerous thing.It is, and I can't say whether
would he do that? Yeah, well, but they're just not Yeah,
your question is about are you talkingabout the which magazine are you referring to?
(31:40):
By the way, and I haven'tbeen in there. You look,
you know it might be up therea Chevrolet muck Stain or anything. Four
Mustang nineteen seventy two to seventy six, and you can go on there and
look at that magazine you talking. You're talking about the magazines that sell the
motive cars. And yeah, okay, well look I'm gonna I haven't been
(32:04):
inside in auto zone. Well letme take that back. I went inside.
All the mechanics on auto places. They don't exist anymore. I wonder
why they do that. Hmm.That's a good question. Instead of me
trying to well, let me goahead and wing it just for entertainment purposes,
I would I wouldn't. I'm sorry. I just want to throw that
out real quick and get out thesong. No, brother, you don't
(32:28):
have to throw it and get off. I love conversating with you. You
are very interesting and entertaining. Iwill add I forget if you need to
start your own show. Hey,But look, I believe because of the
way technology is unforgetful and I andthis is not valid, it's just me
winging it. Because of technology, they probably autos on. I think they
(32:49):
when you go inside, don't youpresent them giving your telephone number, your
email, They kind of know whoyou are when you when you go in
and buy something, don't you registerthat that kind of way. Yeah.
The point I'm going to make itis theyrobably have your information. They probably
send you stuff or text you oremail you. So they're getting away from
the all the printed press. Youknow, commercial appeal. You've been down
Union Avenue, the big huge buildingthat was once commercial appeal. It's no
(33:14):
more now because printing paper is notthat he phishing anymore because everything is digital
now. So I would just imagine, and I'm taking somebody to make call
it. I'm sure father, heprobably will call and have the answer for
us, because you won't stump him. But I believe that because they're trying
to save on costs and be moreefficient for printing a lot of paper is
probably not the way to go onthis time. But what's your next question?
(33:34):
I forgive you always have great questions, and you know something, that's
the way they think. It's kindof crazy. What saving money? I
mean, you know paper, youknow, well, they're doing that to
save money. They're trying to bemore efficient. That's what everybody's doing.
That's right in the newspapers. That'sright. They're going to digital. That's
right. See Bell, she thisis this, she knows. So I
(33:57):
think, my, my, my, it's kind of winging it. It's
probably correct. They're probably shifting awayfrom the paper and they're doing everything digital
down. Yeah, second question,Okay, the next question, let me
throw he's out a real quick tryto get this second. It was good.
They're saying that about the battery withme. Okay, good deal,
(34:19):
good deal. I would love toget his thoughts on that. Okay,
dealing with Testa recalling all his carsback and stuff with this automatic uh system
that's only these cars. Why isit that the Laker car is not doing
the hydrautic system when it comes tothe break. You know, I always
(34:42):
say this here too. Let mealso begin saying this here. I'm not
a mechanic. I don't pretend tobe a mechanic. I'm on the sale
side, the interest rates side, the leasing side. But let me just
for entertainment purposes go to that.So your question is, why don't they
do what with the hydraulic system? You know, like the electric vehicles,
(35:04):
you know, they crashing and peopledying in them. And I just don't
understand why they're going to do slasheighty percent in lect and doing the twenty
percent of hydrautic. Oh, hybridsyou mean when come to break? You
said, you mean hybrid. That'swhat you're referring to. Unforgiva you could
do, you could say the hybrid, But why could all breaks the hydrautic?
(35:24):
Oh? Now, you know what, that's a question that I'm not
I'm not qualified to answer that.Don't manufacture them, I don't engineer them.
I don't know the answer for that, but I but only But here's
an interesting point though, since youbring that up, most dealers, as
Ford Blue Oval demonstrates, they they'respending five point six billion dollars to build
(35:45):
a facility to produce electric vehicles.Uh GM. Of course they came out
with the hammer EV and they Isay, the Hummer EV they got,
the Chevrolet has electric version, andthe Silverado the GMC. They all come
out with the vehicles. Toyota wasthe one of the few companies that didn't
go all in on the EV,and I believe they probably made a good
(36:08):
decision because evs are not moving likethe the manufacturer's thought they are. They're
they're like you, Unforgearful, They'resticking with the gas and electric, the
hybrid version, which actually is gonnabe a big win for them. I
believe you do realize that EV's werebeing pushed really heavily and now forward as
(36:31):
it blew Oval is scaling back. They're gonna still build out the facility,
but I was reading an article yesterdaythey're gonna build it out as scheduled,
but not as aggressive as they oncewanted to. And I think you make
a good fine point because you calledevery show with this same type question about
the hybrid. And I think there'sa lot of validity in what you're asking
(36:51):
because the market is saying Bevins saidthis. The market is saying electric and
gas the combination is probably the saferbit right now. In the short term,
everyone is pushing me to try togo all electric by twenty thirty,
California being the front runner by twentythirty. They don't want to sell any
new, brand new gas vehicles. They want all their new vehicles to be
(37:15):
electric, and that's a big push. But you make a really good point,
because, as I say every show, you know, I am a
big fan of technology. I'm abig fan of electric vehicles. But I'm
gonna be honest with you. I'mnot sure that I want to take an
EV across a country drive. Idon't want to have to get into a
place to where I'm searching for EVstation and there's not one, I think.
(37:36):
Okay, last question, Yes,deal with people getting the cost.
Let me give you a good tipto y'all. It's so simple. Take
your battery out of your car anddo well with it. I'm forgetful.
Put it in that purse, Youput it in a trump put it in
I guess make it which is Idon't. I don't take make up a
system where you could take your yourcar and have that little cold that people
(38:01):
use to open up their door. They punch you in numbers, they gonna
have it on your hood. Well, you gonna open up your hood and
you know, electronically with a numberand open it up. You know that
would be a good thing. NowI had I have seen when I was
at the dealership there was a guywhat he would do. I don't know
why he would. We were inCaryoville, so but he would once he
(38:22):
parked his car, he pops thehood. He would not take his battery
out. He would disconnect the cable, close the hood, so if someone
did break in, it would itwould never turn over. The thief would
have to go and try to figurethat out. But taking the battery out
unforgiveable. I think it's too much. But maybe if you're in a really
compromise situation, maybe pop that hoodand take a cable off. You got
(38:42):
to have the right the two todo that, but that's probably the easier
way based on the suggestion that you'remaking right and make it more harder for
this right. Because these crooks, these kids, they're trying to find something
fast, easy, and you knowwhat they're gonna do. They're gonna get
it and they're gonna stunt drive it. They're gonna just go one hundred miles
an hour on the interstate and justtear your stuff up. That's it's really
for fun. Okay, le meget out of here. Thank you,
(39:06):
miss John, thank you forgiveful,Thank you, sir. Bye bye w
d I A hi father, mygod? Here do hey? Uh,
I'd like to start the conversation outby saying, uh, a half a
new year, everybody, just thissome rhetoric. Just some rhetoric, half
(39:28):
a new year, I mean Iput it. But anyway, uh,
father, before you get into theconversation here, how did you celebrate?
How did you start your new year? Man? It came out a really
abstract from what I always do becauseI got some friends and uh with one
(39:51):
friend and uh, she got brightideas, and you know, I got
to come here with many things inall. So were you sure ain't gonna
let you see me that on thewrong road calls? Everything is wonderful now
and I'm glad. But any way, look, furs are automotive. These
are stop me stop calls. I'mserious. Hey, Hey, what's the
(40:13):
point. Why will take this upfront toward order? Makes a very resilient
starter. And but you're gonna startand stop folks. As far as the
domestic, the human side of thenobud I won't say cars stop, they
won't stop. I think I'm notcat running, letting not call run brol
I decided to cut it off.I won't tell that of control on on
(40:36):
on my driving and uh anyway, but when you when you think about what
you gotta pay for is uh uha starter and the labor on that and
all that and and a fly wheelalso, but that's gonna cost. I
think you need to leave that aloneand just let them cars run. For
some people, uh, psychologically UHare connected to their cars and they let
(41:00):
get caught wrong. Man, theylet the caught wrong. They I'm serious
and uh and I don't really agreewith that. But anyway, moving on,
moving on all right, five boy, uh hold on, I take
this. I think for the technologyof terry, I think that uh people
(41:22):
need to go. I wish Icould go into one of these left to
help them on the production of helium. I said helium. Huh. I
was gonna ask you because I don'twant you to disconnect the vehicles that I
brought up before the break of thecompany called Neo Neo Power. They build
electric cars where you don't charge thebattery. You actually go into a facility
(41:43):
like a Jiffy lu type place, and they change the battery out for you
every day or whenever you need thebattery changed out. What do you think
about that? Do you think that'sa good a good way to go versus
charging your electric car? Well, which where the average amount on common sense
is thinking, you know, yeah, they you know me changing something,
(42:04):
I'm good, already dependable for something. You know, You're right, you've
got experiment. You're right. Thatcompany has actually been out for a while
too. Before we can get offthis subject, it's been out for a
while and the business model is notmaking money. So I think you're right.
I think Tesla is still leading theway. And I say that with
caution because ms BEV I read there'sa company, another company out of China.
(42:25):
It's called b y D. Theyproduce electric vehicles and they've outsold Tesla
two years straight. Uh Berkshire Hathaway, that company h Warren Buffett. He
has a major stock in the companycalled b y D. Check it out,
Google it, look it up.But they are out selling Tesla.
(42:45):
Believe they're not father proceed my apologypolitically, think about this name, you
know, how we think or whatI think, well, what you talk
about this for as Donald Trump sayingthat making all these dog electric cars and
they don't go enough and stuff,it seems like it's really down against the
electric car. And they got thisthing coming up in Tennessee, and they
(43:08):
got things saying we want electric Soit ain't just something that semi you know,
I really don't like when politicians bringin I mean things like you know,
things got political when COVID came,it was kind of political. The
EVS people try to make it political. I try to stay out of it,
(43:29):
you know, because if someone thinksor vote a certain way and you
vote differently. You know, peoplenowadays almost don't want to even come to
a medium you agree here you okay, I can kind of see that now
to just dig into where they areand fight to the to the death.
You father, you're on social media. I don't get into any type of
conversations on social media where people areI mean that they aren't supposed to read
(43:55):
you a listener. All right, father, thank your father as always.
The future. Congratulations, thank you, I love you, I love you
back father, the future. That'sright. Yeah, we are talking with
(44:16):
our automotive specialist is in the house, mister Terry Spicer, if you have
a question or two four Terry ashe gets back into all of his automotive
news. That's what I love.I love all it automotive news. Thank
you. Give him a call rightnow. Nine zero one five three five,
(44:38):
nine three four two eight hundred andfive zero three nine three four two
eight three three five three five ninethree four two. You're listening to double
you D. I a great information, good conversation and most certainly entertaining on
(45:13):
the Ben Johnson Show only on wD. I am telling you to just
(46:04):
keep the thing around. I'm beggingour Bis Johnson Show. He goes and
we're talking with our automotive specialist, first time this year, twenty twenty four.
(46:25):
Terry Spice, I love it.Thank you, my beautiful radio Hall
of Famer Bev Johnson. It's bell. Before we go back to the phone
or the email, I wanna talkabout a subject here that's sure pretty significant.
If you just tuned in. We'retalking cars, we're talking buying cars.
We're heading into tax season, andI want you to be cautious if
(46:45):
you think you're going to be inthe market in the next one two,
three months, I want you tobe cautious because, as you know,
tax season is coming, folks willbe getting large bits of money burning a
hole in their pocket. And folks, I'm sometimes I'm surprised to see these
(47:10):
large sums of money and folks thatget five, ten, fifteen thousand dollars
and they all go and they buythe oddest things. But of course cars
is probably one of the biggest purchasesof tax season. But I want you
to pause for a second, andI want to play this sound bite for
(47:30):
you, just twenty five seconds here. This sound bite comes from a very
well established YouTube channel, car Edge. This sound bite was released six days
ago and it says that you'll hearthe wholesale market has adjusted downward up to
twenty five percent. I sayd updown twenty five percent in value. Check
(47:53):
out this sound bite. The carmarket correction keeps going further and first,
the wholesale used card prices have droppedover ten percent in the past seven weeks.
We've talked about it on this channelbefore. What happens in the wholesale
market will impact the retail market one, two, three months into the future.
Full size vents that segment of vehiclehas dropped nearly twenty five percent in
(48:15):
value over the past seven weeks twentythree point nine to be exact. So
I want you, the folks whoare going to be entering the market when
you go to a dealership, ifyou go to a dealership now and between
now in March, dealers are notfilling this wholesale pinch. Well, let
(48:39):
me rephrase that they're not discounting thecars yet. It's showing up first.
As this gentleman pointed out in thelast seven weeks, values are people are
spending less money at the wholesale. Now, if you don't know what a
wholesale is, dealers go to wholesalersto buy their inventory. So I want
(49:02):
you to know that the market iscoming down. Dealers may try to pretend
the market is still strong, andI want you to know it's not true.
The market is coming down. Now. You have some individuals, some
dealers who just want to hold totheir price, and they're gonna get caught
(49:28):
if they don't sell that vehicle becausethe banks are going to stop financing.
As I've mentioned in the before thebreak banks in twenty late twenty one,
pretty much all of twenty two anda good part of twenty three, banks
were financing up to one hundred andfifty percent loan to value. I've even
(49:50):
read some lenders were doing one hundredand seventy percent loan to value. And
just so you know what that means. Here is an example. If a
car is actually worth twenty thousand dollars, and your bank will know that by
the books, the Blue Book, the Blue Book, the black books,
if it's actually worth twenty thousand dollars, that's what they consider one hundred percent
(50:12):
loan to value. After COVID,the banks were lending because the market demanded.
It was the prices were jumping up. There was a high demand.
Banks were financing one hundred and fiftypercent and more so. The folks who
bought their vehicles in late twenty oneanytime in twenty two and a good part
(50:35):
of twenty three, you know, they probably thought that they were getting a
good deal. But I've got newsfor you. When they go to try
to trade that car, and hopefullythey're not trying to trade it in the
next two to three years, they'regoing to have a lot of negative equity
trying to get out of those vehicles. Unfortunately, now here's the good news
(50:58):
for those of you who decided towait to buy your season is this is
the front door of a new market. The SoundBite that I just played you,
it shares with you that the priceis at the wholesale facilities, they're
not getting what they were getting. They're paying less. That's gonna the dealers
(51:22):
are gonna feel that if they don'tsell what they bought the last two or
three months, if they don't unloadthat in tax season, and believe me,
they're gonna do that. But I'mgonna tell you the strategy of what
you need to do to get thebetter deal. If they don't unload it
before the end of tax season, they're gonna be stuck with vehicles. They're
gonna lose money on big money onWhat you need to do is, if
(51:45):
you're in the market for a vehiclein the next sixty to ninety days,
by all means, go to thedealership, by all means, find the
vehicle you want, test drive it. But know even the dealers that say
that we don't negotiate on price, believe me, friends, that they will
(52:06):
say that. Believe me. Ifyou you know, you'll you'll find as
an example, you will work adeal with the dealer if the bank they
have you. Let's say a vehicleis priced at twenty five thousand. You
really want that vehicle, but let'ssay your credit is not sufficient enough to
get that vehicle with twenty five thousand. Let's say they go and get a
deal worked out. You're bringing updown payment. Let's say a bank would
(52:28):
approve that deal. But the bankwill approve it with your down payment twenty
three thousand, five hundred dollars worth. A bank will finance. The dealer
is gonna reduce that vehicle down withoutyou asking, from twenty five thousand to
twenty three five. And they're gonnasay, look, they're gonna come out
and make it seem like it's allbecause hey, because of you, you
really want this vehicle and we loveyou, we're gonna sell it to you
for twenty three five, when reallythe bank that's all they're gonna finance it
(52:51):
for. So the dealers in thosesituations will reduced the price without you even
asking. That happens. Friends,Actually, any reputable dealer or any anyone
the business, they'll tell you thatthat happens all the time. But when
you go, here's that strategy whenyou go to the dealership and the next
in the tax season, find thevehicle you like, work the deal out.
(53:12):
But just know they may not saywe're gonna reduce the price, but
just know it's negotiable. Because thesmart dealers, they're watching those wholesale numbers.
They know that they need to unloadthat inventory or they're gonna get stuck
with it and they're gonna lose money. So going into this tax season,
(53:32):
just know this is the start ofa market that has changed. Don't let
any dealer fool you. Here isanother safeguard to always say, if you
have a relationship with a bank orcredit union, and if you don't,
please establish yourself with the bank.Preferably, I prefer you to get a
relationship with a credit union. Whenyou go to a dealership you like a
(53:59):
vehicle, acts the dealer to provideyou a copy of the buyer's agreement.
As a matter of fact, ifyou really want to look sharp, tell
them to fax that over to yourcredit union. Now, the dealer,
as most of us know, thedealer makes money when they sell the vehicle.
(54:21):
The dealer also makes money when theyfinance the vehicle. The dealer would
prefer to finance the vehicle because theymake a point or two in financing.
If you go to the credit union, it cuts the finance guy out,
So they would like to do thedeal in house. This this is the
reason why they push that, becausethey make more money. They can sell
(54:43):
they make a point, they makea point or two on the entrance,
They can sell warrant and make moneythere. They can sell some other goodies
and wield entire stuff to make moneythere. So the dealers are profitable beyond
the sale of the car. Youknow this. Your credit union will tech
you. They will. First off, they're gonna know the actual value of
(55:04):
the car, and they're gonna keepyour loan to value in line. Also,
they will likely provide you a betterrate. Now, don't get me
wrong, and I'll share this.Miss Shirley Mormon a good friend of mine.
She used a very tactful strategy. She got her credit union involved,
(55:27):
came in ready to do the dealwith that financing already set up. The
dealer, however, wanted to doeverything in house. In order for them
to do that, they had tobeat the credit union numbers. So she
just won in every angle. Thecost of the vehicle, the interest rate
she won in every angle, sohigh. Salute to you, Miss Shirley
(55:49):
Mormon. I love sharing your storybecause that was Ah, that was a
strong, a very strong move thatyou've made. But friends, going into
this tax season, I see year, someone is gonna call me, someone
is gonna tell me they bought avehicle off Marketplace or somewhere online. They're
gonna say something to the fact thatthe sellers said they didn't have the title
(56:12):
they're working on getting. Friends,do not buy a vehicle from marketplace or
in an individual that you don't know, have no relationships to, they don't
have a business front, and theydon't have the title. You will get
caught up in some foolishness. Tobe quite honest, you may not be
able to find that person again.Even if you like the vehicle and it's
(56:36):
it's your dream car. Stay clearof marketplace in tax season. And speaking
of dream cars, let me giveyou this here, uh my young people,
especially everyone, most people have adream car in mind. My advice
(56:57):
of when to buy your dream caris when you can buy that vehicle and
your interest rate is in the singledigits, meaning nine percent or less,
and if it's a new car withzero percent finance, and that's the way
to go, or cash if theinterest rate comes back at twenty percent somewhere
(57:22):
thereabout that, my friend, shouldnot be your dream car. It's more
like a day dream car at thatpoint. Now, if you're in a
position to where that's the only optionthat you have, you don't have a
code sign or you can't come upwith more money, and you're trying to
I guess, re establish your carcredit or just get your car credit going.
(57:45):
I myself when I was on theground selling, there is a strategy
for that. Friends, pay attentionhere. The strategy is, if you're
out of a situation and again, the dream car nine percent or less.
But if you're in a situation wherethat car is, and again if you
buy it and it's still your dreamcar, but your interest rate is twenty
percent, you want to keep thatcar and finance it at least thirteen payments,
(58:10):
no more than twenty four payments. And the reason why I suggest thirteen
payments is because if you, let'ssay you buy that car, you make
on time payments on that vehicle forthirteen months, that means in your credit
file, the twelve the twelve paymentswill show in the credit bureau as pay
(58:32):
it one time, and it's mostlikely the bank will approve you on your
next vehicle. So thirteen to twentyfour eighteen is a sweet spot. You
trade out of that vehicle, preferablyin a new vehicle with the rebate,
because you're gonna need it. Attwenty percent, you're gonna have negative equity.
Most folks, unless they put downa heavy down payment, will have
(58:57):
negative equity at a twenty percent inch. Negative equity is is an example,
just so you follow me, becauseI know everyone is not car folks.
If the vehicle is priced at twentythousand, it is worth twenty thousand,
and that's for this example. Let'ssay you didn't put any cash down.
You've got to you gotta finance thetaxes. You've got to finance the processing
fees or dock fees, whatever thedealer throws in there, and that's just
(59:21):
that's that loan of value. You'reactually financing more than the car is worth.
If you didn't put any money down, that's going to be negative equity
at the end. Some folks tradein a vehicle that carries negative equity over
but you get the idea of negativeequity. So that is the strategy.
If you are in a position towhere your greatest twenty percent, that's the
only route you can go. Keepthat vehicle thirteen to twenty four payments eighteen
(59:44):
is a sweet spot. Trade out, get into your next vehicle. That
vehicle, if it doesn't get youdown to single digits, it'll get you
closer. You keep a car,pay it off when the rate is nine
percent or less. The bank won'tmake a killing off of you at a
nine percent or less interest rate.Let me also interject this also the market
(01:00:07):
right now, as far as interestrates goes, even the folks with great
credit are seeing higher interest rates. And I believe we talked about this last
month on last month's show. Whenrates are high, keep this in mind.
This is for houses, cars, boats. When rates are high,
prices come down. And it's alsothe opposite. When rates go down,
(01:00:31):
prices go up. So you maysay, you know rates are too high,
I'm gonna wait, but just nofriends, this is a time where
dealers may pretend they don't negotiate orwon't adjust their prices. They will,
they will. You have to bewilling to walk away from the deal.
(01:00:53):
I have seen a customer's mind andthey were serious about walking away. It
was no game. They were workinga deal something they weren't happy about.
Sometimes the management will catch them beforethey leave in their car, bring them
back in and either give them thedeal or got really close to it.
(01:01:15):
Some folks unfortunate to get all theway to their house before the management says,
you know what, let's go aheadand do that deal. But you
have to be patient. My friend, now, I was a salesman,
and the salesman he just wants tomake a sale, so you may.
I was talking to a friend ofmine, a customer of mine earlier,
(01:01:35):
and he asked the question. Theysuggested, when I buy the vehicle,
I can trade it in in eightmonths, And I says, you know,
God bless them. He's trying tomake a sale. When they say
that they're trying to make a sale, I get it. I've heard it
myself. I would always say somethingbecause I've actually traded some one out of
ten months. Friends, you cando it. It's just tough unless you
(01:01:59):
bring it in a down payment orthere's some kind of new incentive on some
new vehicle. But thirteen payments,I believe is the at least if you
buy a car you don't like it, you don't love it, just keep
it for thirteen payments and then workon trading out of that vehicle. But
let me get back to this pointhere about the tax season, especially my
(01:02:22):
young people or my seniors who arelistening, make sure you tell your children,
your grandchildren when they get these taxrefunds. The dealers, the scammers.
Everyone knows this. And by theway, because I know some of
my seniors will probably call and validatethis. People always say dealers raise their
(01:02:45):
prices in tax season. Now itmay be some truth in that, but
this is why this happens. Thereis a once again supply and demand.
The dealers have X amount of vehicleson their lot tax season, there's a
big demand for those vehicles. Andyes, they can hold their prices better
(01:03:10):
in tax season because if you don'tbuy, it is a good chance someone
that will come in and buy thatvehicle. That's a risk you take.
But friends, stand your ground, don't get too emotional about these car deals.
Be willing to walk away because walkingaway it may be more time involved.
(01:03:32):
But that's how you say. Ifyou're not a good negotiator. That's
the best tactic. If you're sittingat a desh to say, you're a
young lady, you're not real goodat negotiating. The best tactic it says,
thank you for your time, letme go home and think about it.
That's a negotiating tactic, doesn't requireany skill. And the dealers do
(01:03:54):
not want you to leave because theyknow if you know that you're approved,
they know you can go somewhere elseand buy a car. They're gonna do
everything they can to earn your business. There. I wanted to say,
Terry, you're talking about that isthat earlier when you were talking about it.
If you you know, you gobuy a car and once you take
it off that lot, and thenyou decide I want to bring it back.
(01:04:16):
How it depreciates the salespeople. Theythey matter of fact, it happened
to a friend of mine just recentlyand he didn't like this electric car.
He said, now, remember Itold you about it. So he took
it back and then the guy said, well, no, the deal is
done. You have to he says, but this is not working for me,
(01:04:41):
and you're right. So before youdrive it off that lot, you're
saying really think about if this iswhat you want. I'll tell y'all,
if you really want an electric caror any car, yes, you need
you need to be sure that's right, because once you take it off the
lot, you said, Terry,it depreciates. And then and a lot
of times the salespeople they don't wantto take it back, do they.
(01:05:02):
Well, if there's a me myself, my way of operating was different,
yeah, I would if I was, I would sense if someone had if
they were on the edge, andI would tell them, you know,
go ahead and sign up for it. Leave it because it's not yours until
you drive it off the even ifyou go to the finance office, you
sign all the paperwork and they says, okay, it's outside ready for you
(01:05:25):
to take it. You know,I did all the paperwork, you says,
Miles. Or just putting it backand leave it because if you don't
drive it off, it's not legallyyours until the cameras are watching. They
watch you when you drive off.So if you're feeling skeptical, even after
you sign all the paperwork, justleave it because if you never come back
to get the vehicle, they haveto turn that stuff up. They can't.
(01:05:46):
They can't force that on you. Also, just another little side note,
my grit, my good credit folkswon't have this problem. Let's say
you're a dealership and they want toget the deal done, but they need
what they call a step, anda step is like they need a checks
the level, or they need aproof of residence. If that's a requirement
from the bank and you didn't haveit, but they delivered the car and
(01:06:06):
you get home and you have buyer'sremorse, don't bring the step back.
Just say, look, I don'thave the step. Here's the car.
That's another way, that's a technicalway that you can get out of that
car deal if you don't produce allthe paperwork. Now, dealers are smarter
these days. They'll try to getall that stuff up front, so it'll
be tougher for you to do that. But on occasions it's missed, and
(01:06:29):
that's a technical where you can getOYE mone of that car. And also,
going to Velve's point two, whenyou buy a car and drive off,
it's going to lose ten to fifteenpercent. If you come back the
next day and try to trade thatcar in, you're gonna be upside down.
You paid. That's how you paidthirty thousand for it. You come
back the next day ten percent. That's that thirty thousand car is worth twenty
(01:06:54):
seven thousand dollars automatically. There's nothingyou can do about it. Now.
There are some dealers. I believecar Max is one of those dealers that
will allow you to bring it backin a certain amount of time, But
most dealers don't do that. It'sjust it's they don't have to do that.
On certain situations, they will.I've seen it to where they will,
(01:07:16):
but it has to be a situationthat it needs to be explained properly
of what's going man. But that'sfar and few because they know if they
do that once it's gonna get it'sgonna feel like it's gonna set a president.
So they just do not like togo that route. So if you
buy a car, just know thatit's yours. All Right, We're gonna
take a break, Terry. Whenwe come back, I have some emails
(01:07:38):
for you. I know you lovethe emails. Yeah, we love the
emails. And if you have aquestion or two, let me give out

(01:09:32):
you go? You go? Sogetting ready in time shot show, Let's
go Bell Justin. We make goodright here wald by listen to what to
(01:09:55):
Say? You know, Where's timeof about to fish show. Let's go.
We are rocking and rolling on thisWednesday January third, twenty twenty four,
with our automotive specialist Terry Spicer inthe house. Terry, we're going
to our phone lines to talk withBeverly. Good afternoon, Beverly, good
(01:10:23):
afternoon, and welcome back my beautifulAfrican vibce. Thank you, sir.
How are you. I'm fine.I'm fining that you're back. I'm fine.
My Happy new year to you.Thank you. It happened new year
to you. And hello, ithappened New year to mister Terror. Happy
new year, Miss Beverley. Howare you doing today. I'm doing fine.
(01:10:44):
Terror. I was listening to you, and I'm telling you, you
are really educating us. But unfortunately, many of the people who need to
hear this information and I'm listening tothe BEB Johnson Show now I know it,
and I hate that. Hopefully thatthose of us who are older and
we have children and grandchildren, wecan pass this information on to them,
(01:11:05):
because you are giving us some goodinformation and some good strategies and to keep
people from being taken. That's right, because during tax seas and time,
you know, people get this biglump sum of money and they want a
car. They've been warning a carand the money is burning a pocket,
a hole in their pocket. Youknow, they they are gullible, that's
(01:11:28):
right, and their fault and peoplethey get emotional to some folks, Miss
Beverly, you probably probably know this. People who are who don't usually get
approved for something. Let's say theyget approved on something. They don't even
care what the rate. They're justhappy they got to prove and they do
the deal and it's not a gooddeal. They don't find out that it's
a bad deal until the next dayor when when a parent or someone else
gets involved, he says, whydid you do that? Exactly? So
(01:11:51):
you're really educating us. Well, one thing that that you said that you
said that was real, profound, profound to me was that when you purchase
a vehicer and you sign all thepapers, if you don't drive that car
off the lot, you're not obligated. That's right to have that car as
(01:12:14):
yours. That is exactly right. And that to me was so strong because
most people and myself included, Ifeel like once you put your signaturel on
those papers, it's a done deal. That's right. Let me in case
someone missed it. What she's referringto is if you are at a dealership
or someone you know what. They'reat a dealership when you find a car
(01:12:38):
you like, and you sit downand you go to finance and you fill
out all the paperwork, physical paperworkor they have the electronic stuff now where
you do it on a tablet. You fill all that out and you walk
out and you ring a bell whateverthey have for you. That car is
not officially yours until you drive offthe lot with it. If you get
in someone else's car and leave andcall back and say I'm good, I
(01:12:58):
don't want it, they gonna makeit seem as if you and all is
yours. But Leally, yeah, you cannot. They cannot push that car
on you if you don't take it. They're not going to tell you that.
That's one of those little things thatyou just have to hear from listening
to Bevshow. That's a strong point, that is so strong, and that's
such strong information. But of courseI have though, h you know,
(01:13:23):
isn't there some type of consumer protectionlaw that you have seventy two hours to
change your mind when you make apurchase or does that not apply to car?
Very good question, mister Beverly, and I'm glad that you ask.
Now Here is the answer to thatwhen you go, when you actually show
up at a dealership and buy acar and drive off, there is no
(01:13:45):
it's yours. It's nothing around itunless the dealer is their provocative to there.
It's up to them to reverse that, which they don't want to set
a president so they believe me.I know they do not want to reverse
deals. It's just not a goodin to set. However, now here
is the which I don't I haven'tdone this, but maybe someone does this.
(01:14:05):
But if if a salesman comes andknocks on your door at your house
and brings a car that you maybe interested in, and you do the
paperwork at your house, then yes, that will apply. You have the
right to turn that deal around. And I think you're right. I think
it is seventy two days. Ihave to let me try to confirm the
(01:14:27):
timeline, but there is a rightto turn that vehicle back in only if
they come to your house, knockon your door, and do the sale
at your house. Okay, Okay, that's right, And I'll try to
find that between the break what thattimeline is. And while we're on this,
to miss Beverley before you disconnect forthose who may have missed it.
(01:14:49):
Also another thing I want folks tokeep in mind too, This is a
technical thing to keep in mind.If you go to a dealership and you're
doing the deal and everything is approved, but you're missing what they what they
all call a step. You're missinga pay stub or you're missing proof of
residents. But they till you goahead and sign the paperwork and take the
car. And let's say you yousay I'm gonna bring that back tomorrow.
(01:15:12):
Well, if you get home andhave a change of heart, change of
mind, if that step is arequirement from the bank, not a requirement
for the dealership. Now, ifthe bank requires it, then that's also
a technical way that you can turnthe car in and walk away. They're
not going to tell you that. That's another bit of those that that that
information that you can only get fromthe BEV Johnson Show. Wow, I'm
(01:15:32):
telling you, Terry, we appreciatethis to a listen. Thank you,
Thank you. You're really educating usand helping us. Helping us because it's
about getting a good deal and gettingthe best for your money. That's right.
People work hard for their money. And you don't want to be jipped
out of it. So thank youso much for it is my pleasure.
(01:15:54):
Thank you for sharing that I reallyfeel. I feel feel good you calling
in to say that you didn't haveto and you did. Thank you very
much. Oh right, I havea good day you too. Thank you,
Beverly. Yes, ma'am Terry, this email and it comes from George,
and George says Terry. I emailedthe show last time you were here
about buying my wife a new car. She only drives, as we calculated,
(01:16:15):
approximately seventy two hundred miles a year. Well, I text you,
never got a response, so Ipulled the trugger look at my text message,
yeah, look at your text, and got what I think was a
fantastic deal. The cars started offat three k less than the blue Book
value, and although it took meall afternoon in several attempts to leave before
(01:16:36):
they knocked off another nine hundred dollars, which was even better. Although this
was a reputable new car dealership,I would have rather did my deal with
you, but I don't think Ilost. This was a twenty twenty one
Equinox choice with thirty six thousand milesin what appears to be mint condition for
(01:16:58):
eighteen K with six point seventy fivepercent, got good credit interest rate and
six K down. I have anote that would be comfortable even if I
retire today. I just wanted tosay thank you for all the info you
shared, as well as the callerswho gave me the courage to pull the
true George, you are the man. You are the man. You have
(01:17:20):
put a big smile on my face. I was wonder why Beilf was grinnin,
Yeah, you got it going on. Brother. Now I am looking
through my text messages. Mister George, I don't see a text, but
but no worries. I want youto if you can send me a picture
of that Equinox. I sold alot of Equinox. It's a great it's
a great model of manufactured by GM. Let me give you my telephone number
(01:17:43):
and I would love to get aphotograph of that vehicle. My number nine
zero one six seven to two fourfour two two. I'm double checking,
George. I don't see the text. Maybe you text someone else, but
I try to always give a response. Sometimes it's been I get a little
distracted. I may respond to Texasor return calls a little bit late if
(01:18:04):
I'm caught up in you know,if I'm giving someone else my attention.
But I always like to respond. But George sounds like you got a great
deal. Thank you for the report. You didn't have to email us and
tell us, but you did.Thank you very much. I'm happy that
it worked out. I'm looking forwardto that photograph. Ms. Beth Our.
Next email from Loretta says, Terry, Happy New Year, Happy New
(01:18:26):
Year. Will you please give outthe telephone number of your mobile mechanic.
Yes, let's do that right now. Thank you for allowing me this segue
to give out some information for afew numbers in case you are in the
market or will be in the market. The first tim let me give out
Eric Dandrich. He is a mobilemechanic. He will his specialty is anywhere
(01:18:53):
in Memphis or neighboring cities. Ifyou are a mechanic, not mechanically inclined,
you're not real familiar about how thecar works, he will come out
and inspect the vehicle for you.He will get in the car, go
on the test drive with you,and if you all detect any noises or
(01:19:13):
any issues, he's gonna check thosefor you and give you a diagnostics for
thirty five dollars. His telephone number, he has a new number. His
number is nine zero one two fourseven zero zero eight six. Also,
people always misspell When I constantly getmilled about warranties, let me also express
(01:19:36):
this here. People want to knowwhen my car warranty it has expired,
should I buy a new warranty? And we have a strategy for you when
it comes to warrants. There's noright or wrong answer. It's not a
cookie cutter response. It's really it'sa situational situation. So let's as an
(01:19:59):
example, let's say you have aChevrolet Equinox. We'll go with Georgia's vehicle.
Let's how you have an Equinox andthe warranty has expired. My recommendation
is to go by the physically,go by the dealership, take your vehicle,
allow them to quote you a warrantybecause they're gonna know. The Chevrolet
dealership there gonna sell the premium warrantiesfor the Chevrolet product. Take that information
(01:20:21):
and you call over or you visit. My friend Tiffany Conrad at Memphis Municipal
Employees Federal Credit Union she will doher best to beat match beat that quote
for you her telephone number nine zeroone five two eight two eight one six.
(01:20:45):
Again, she's gonna do her bestto beat that quote. And keep
in mind she can also get youpre approved on a vehicle, So if
you're looking for a bank that willget you pre approved before you go to
the dealer, you'll have that advantagewhen you walk in to where you got
your finances in check. Also, our good friends mss BEV King Harry O.
(01:21:06):
I love the tip he gave andthis goes to the warranty. So
after you visit the dealership, youget their price, you get Tiffany Conrad's
price. What you do is youtake those two numbers, you can average
it out, take the lesser ofthe two, and just set up yourself
an interest bearing account if all possible, or just an account and you have
(01:21:29):
to be disciplined. But take thatthat dollar amount and put it into your
own account and when the time comes, if you need it, you got
it. So I think that's areally good shrewd strategy that allows you to
control your money. Miss Beth.Go to our phone lines. Terry W.
D I a high caller, goodafternoon, bare believe in ninety Johns
(01:21:53):
and that you be r Hello myfriend, how you doing miss this?
And that's my girl? Wonderful.I'm wonderful, Terry. I just really

you say your eye yes and helpingus yours like you say you do yes.
(01:22:15):
Even though it's been going on fiveyears since I purchased my car through
you, Yes, this was theINSes that I called you about. What's
the first inches that I had hadwith my car outside of heaven? All
change? Yes, And I justwant to tell you that I had been
dealing with this for a whole weekwith the dealership, but you got me
(01:22:39):
taking tell three out. You knowwhat, Miss, and y'all gonna make
me go back to the dealership andstart working again. You know, I've
been away from the dealership on theground. I've been away from it for
it'll be four years this summer. But they've always said when you get into
the car business, even if youleave it physically leave it, it's still
in you. As you can tell, it's still in me. I still
(01:22:59):
love, Yeah, I still likehelping people, miss, and you're gonna
make me chear up and and I'mgonna go back and start working just so
I can started helping people physically again, not myself upside my head because I
had dealt with this a whole weekand all I had to do was call
Terry. I thank you and blessyour baby, ball that you do.
(01:23:20):

blue Satin and you'd be like him, a mental love. I go get
the radio brings you maybe as bad. I bring it out, bad,
whip it. They just chill andenjoy the blues, the best music and

(01:25:36):
and we're back with our automotive specialistTerry Spicer. Thank you, Miss Bell.
Before we go to the phone line, let me give a super high
salute to my friends Sru and herson, Big set out to you and the

(01:25:56):
holding all right. Pastor Stella,my guy, Happy year, your Pastor
Stella. I stand correct. Iam wonderfully blessed. Listen, Beverly.
I want to thank you for theservice that you provide to this community.
Man, year after year after year, we you listen and we are heard
(01:26:23):
a man, mister Spicer, Yes, I came to you. I remember
years ago. I remember I rememberto pick out a car for me that's
reliable and it's cute. And letme tell you, you delivered, my
dear. Other than all changed,I had to buy a couple of times
(01:26:44):
a battery. I have spent sixtyfour dollars in six years and this cute
car is still rolling. That y'allgonna make me go. Just tell y'all
go back to the dealership. Ijust there's something missing, and I think
that's what it is. I liketo always help and share information, but
I'm really feeling like I need togo back, get on the ground and
(01:27:09):
physically help again. I appreciate that. And to the w D, I
a family. I always think aboutyou. I always pray and give thanks
for you. Man. I loveyou a whole bunch. And twenty twenty
four is the year for more.Let's love more so that we can serve
(01:27:32):
more, so that we can givemore, so that we forgive more.
And I love you more in twentytwenty four. I love that. We
love that. Pastor Stella, thankyou, sister, thank you love that
love that. Chaplain comments, Chaplincomments, Happy New Year, brother,
Well, she just seated ruled mysummon for nixt Sutton. She did was
(01:28:00):
good. That was beautiful. Yeah, Terry, I'm chattering of you know,
she ever counted by sixty five thousandcombat veterans and they're families, and
uh, I just appreciate all thegreat testimony people give, and so I
don't feel you know, I feelreally good when I can recommend you for
you know, your service and everything. Thank you. So I just wanted
(01:28:20):
to give you that, you knowfor moust But you know you mentioned you
kind of perked out. It's aminute, a little bit of gold.
You talked about it you uh,Barry coming from China, Keilo. We
missed that. Yeah. The theNeo Power company, the NIE. Let
me make sure I say this right. Hold on the second past the comments.
I want to make sure it's NeoNeo Power in Io Neo Power out
(01:28:45):
of China. If you can,you can actually research the company has been
operating for some time now, notturning a profit. If you look at
it, they're losing millions of dollars. But they have a design to where
you buy the vehicle and you leavethe batteries, meaning and I'm sure you
can buy the battery, but it'sprobably more expensive to go that route,
but you least the batteries. Youdrive it and when the battery gets low,
(01:29:09):
you drive into this jiffy loub typestation. Just pull in. You
don't get looks like you don't getout the car. You pull in.
There's a machine that goes under thevehicle. It takes off the current battery
and it puts on a new batterthat's and they also emphasize the batteries are
all always charged to about ninety percent. Uh. I did a little a
little more digging. They say whenthey when they charge it to one hundred
(01:29:31):
percent, it just I guess itloses its it's it's charging capacity over time
faster when they do that. Butyes, there there are no facilities from
my current research in the US.Those companies are overseas for now. But
what are your thoughts about that?Uh? Pastor well, I know it's
moving. Everything is moving that away, that's right. And we were doing
(01:29:54):
some revapping and I was thinking somethingnew rather than you know, a regular
savage and stuffing thing like that.Yeah, so we're making making the greatest
spinditure coming up, and so Iwas I was interested in that in myself
for the young people. I madethe five. So they always man,
that's a blessing on me. NowI know that's a blessing. So that's
(01:30:15):
what I called up and asked youabout it. Then I really appreciate that.
Yes, and uh, and Ijust again, I thank you for
the great service do the communities mypleas. Thank you, thank you,
thank you having coming. I appreciateyou. Thank you so much, thank
you. I've got it, yeahgoing, and I've got a sound but
we're gonna get ready to wrap itup. Bef got those eyebrows raised.
(01:30:36):
I know that signal. Uh.The SoundBite here is about fifty seconds.
And this sound bite here, ifif you go to a dealership and they
let's say you're trying to buy avehicle, and let's say that they're trying
to be none negotiable, and theyhit you with a line like you know,
we're just going to take it tothe auction and sell it. I
want you to hear. This alsocomes from car Edge. This was released
(01:30:59):
sixty days ago. They are apretty big influence on YouTube. They have
a half of half a four hundredmillion. I'm sorry, that's a lot
four hundred thousand subscribers. But listento what he says, if a dealer
tried and I'm using a word thread, but if they try to hit you
and if you don't buy, we'regoing to just send it to the auction.
Check out his thoughts on that.Just consumers people like you and me
(01:31:20):
frequently come to us and say, well, Zach, we talked to the
dealer and they said they'd rather takeit to the auction than discount it and
sell it to us. This isthe reality of if this dealer took this
to auction, it is lost twentyfour percent of its value at the auction
over the past seven weeks. Thereshould be real, meaningful incentive to try
and discount it and sell it toa customer. There should be, And
(01:31:41):
if a dealer tells you that, just look them in the eye and go.
So you would much rather pay thetransport fee to get it to the
auction. You would much rather paythe auction fee to enter it into the
auction, Okay, and give upthe opportunity to have me buy it and
(01:32:02):
go through your finance and insurance department, And maybe, just maybe your F
and I person is so good thatI buy something else which mitigates the loss
that you're taking the point that heis making. We're going into the tax
season. Let me emphasize this aswe go to the clothes. We're going
into tax season. And if,as Miss Beverly pointed out, not everybody
(01:32:25):
in the city is listening to thebe of Johnson Show, if you can
get the word out, tell yourfriends, your neighbors, your loved ones
to during tax season, scammers aregetting ready for you. Try your best
not to buy a vehicle online thisFacebook, marketplace, or let me more
specifically, individuals unless you know them. Try your best to stay with reputable
(01:32:47):
dealers because the scams every year misbad. Someone calls me about some situation
that got involved in and it's justno. The one that I heard last
year was a lady and she soundedpretty sharp. I'm surprised she got caught
up in this, but she andher son they bought a vehicle from marketplace
(01:33:09):
and the guy who was selling itwas promising the title. He didn't have
it, he had something else, and they took his word for it.
They bought the car left. Theycould never get the car rested because they
were not the legitimate owners of thevehicle and that guy could not be found.
So just avoid anything that sounds suspicious. In tax season, it probably
(01:33:32):
is an issue. Just get awayfrom it. So try to go to
the dealership. Now, going backto this sound bite that I just played
for you, when you're at thedealership, especially going through tax season,
and again these if you missed theearlier part of the show, wholesalers are
seeing up to twenty five percent decreasein the money they're getting for the vehicles.
(01:33:56):
Now this is as of seven weeksago. Dealers tend to feel that
a month or two out. Sowhen you go to the dealer this taxis
then, just know the smart dealersknow they got to get rid of these
vehicles because the market is flipping. It's turning from a seller's market to the
buyers are becoming or getting back incontrol. I want you to know that.
(01:34:18):
And when they hit you with Ican take it to the auction to
get more money. You hit themwith that. With the SoundBite that I
just play to you, which I'msummarizing, you mean to tell them you're
gonna spend transportation fees, auction fees, all those fees, and you can
sell me the vehicle and I cango to your finance office and I probably
will buy some product from you inyour finance office. If you hit them
(01:34:39):
with that, that says to thedealer, Okay, this person here to
know what they're talking about. Andif he still puts up roadblocks, get
your purse, grab your wallet, thank him for the time, and start
walking to the door. And watchhow that makes everything change. The dealer
does not want you to walk outnow, devis give me those eyebrows again.
(01:35:00):
My contact information If you need tocontact me for advice, I'm happy
to give it. My telephone numberis nine zero one six seven two four
four two two call or text me. Also, if you're driving you can't
write that down, you can findme online. It's my name and go
