How are you feeling today, Miss I'm feeling fabulous today, Terry.
I'm glad to have you back and glad to see
your smiling face. Thank you, Thank you, Miss Beth. You know,

(05:41):
I've had people call me just saying, hey, I hadn't
heard you. He's come back here. I said, he's taking
a break. He's a little vacation, so taking a break.
And that's okay, you know, Miss Bev. I have found
in life that truth will set you free. Oh yeah,

(06:01):
I try to always live in truth. And I have
a story to tell that I can't go into depth
right now, but I just want to say thank you.
I want to say thank you to Bev. Thank you
to wd i A. Stan Bell, Tracy Bethey, Dana Long,

(06:23):
all the management stre I mean, I'm probably missing some
folks stand Bell do one, Stormy, Yes, Storm, I love you. Storm.
I just want to thank everybody, because to have relationships
with people, it's you have a great relationship with folks.
It's just it's just it's a really good thing. Now.
I took some time away, I did some reorganizing, and
I'm very thankful for the time away kind of gives

(06:46):
you a refresher and it's just a pleasure to be
back in the BEV Johnson studio. You know, me and Bell,
we pulled up at the same time, and because I
hadn't seen her in a while, I purposely didn't ride
in the otherlevator because I wanted to give her this
love fresh on the mic. I hadn't seen it in
a Why not, miss Ball? What's this? What's all this? This?

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (07:08):
The rumors? Has it that you have been on national television?
Man ain't no rumor. It's a fact, Miss Ball. Congratulations,
that is chances. You know I watched it twice. I
had to watch it again, Miss Bell, like, yeah, I'm

(07:29):
gonna watch it some more. How did that make you feel?
Miss Bell? You know I I it made me feel good.
I was proud because I didn't know Terry and being honest,
with you. I didn't know how it was going to
turn out, but I didn't know the impact that it
would have on the Memphis community. And also when I've

(07:54):
heard from a lot of people said it did it
shed a good light on Memphis because Memphis is not
all bad. And so everybody said, you you made even
you know, not talking to the mayor, said Mayor Paul Young,
you you made Memphis proud. You made us look good.
So I appreciate I appreciate my new boyfriend J JB.

(08:15):
You got his cell phone, you can you got connections.
I got connections, That's right. But he was such and awesome.
He's awesome. But but Terry, I tell, I told tell
everybody that I've talked to. He's such a gentleman, just
sincere and kind and humble. Just oh my goodness, he
was just so gracious and and and I appreciate him

(08:38):
and and and you know, and because I didn't know
how the story was gonna go. I didn't because some folks, right,
he thought they were going to do it on the station,
but they did it on the on me awesome, So
it was that was I love that. But I loved
j B. He said when he mat He said, I
researched you and every thing, and you are something else.

(09:02):
And even the producer Alicia who who? And I asked
her this, Terry, I don't know if I shared this
with people. I said, why did you choose me? Because
there have been thousands of people they could have chosen
to interview question or CBSI on America. That's a big
thing CBS News. And I asked Alicia why and she said,

(09:27):
I was reading the Christian Monitor and there was an
article in there on you. I had forgotten, Terry, that
I had done the interview with this young man for
the Christian Monitor. I had forgotten about that. And I said,
I haven't even seen the article. She said, I read

(09:47):
the article. I researched you stationed and she said, I
looked you up. She said, I even listened to your
show a couple of times, and I thought you would
be a good person to do it interview. And I'm
going like wow, wow, And I said that to say,
and I tell you you never know who's looking at
you watching you never never ever know Wow. So I

(10:15):
just humbled. I was just just just grateful. It was.
It was when I even looking at myself on TV.
I just felt gout and so you know, Terry. The
night it aired, then my phone was blown. I thought
my little BlackBerry was gonna blow it. So my phone
was ringing, people were texting me, and uh, but yeah,
it was a good feeling. And again I think Alisha

(10:38):
Hastily and JB and the people at CBS, that's just
just awesome. So and then they came in and field
and then also it was so awesome that Alisha chose
Attorney Ursula attorneys who are on the show, that she
decided to get them in to talk about me, and

(11:00):
so they got that great exposure. Uh, those attorneys. And
and also I gotta go down there. And when I
fell out when I heard because because Attorney Ursa told
me she said, do you know he went down the
shop and saved. He went down in the hood. I said,
what shop? No, I didn't you know. And I'm going,

(11:23):
like they found out about shopping and saved. But he
went down there. And then I when I you wanted
to talk to the people. Yeah he did, he did.
He did, and he said and I said, JB, you
get some food? He said, yeah, it was good too.
But that was that was that was just that that
was great, awesome to give you here, Hey, that's what
I said, give him my flowers where I can smell them.

(11:44):
That's that's right. And so I'm proud of that, and
I thank folks, and people are still talking about it. Well, people,
you can you can go going. If you haven't seen it,
it's on YouTube. Yes, I on America's CBS News. That's awesome.
I have one more question before we change subjects. When
did you get word they were coming? How did they
come about? If somebody can't heyms bed they want to

(12:04):
interview you, how did they come up? A good question,
Arry that how happened that she was looking for me?
She was trying to get in touch with me. She
couldn't get in touch with me or the station any anyway.
She called John Dole, who's the executive director of the
Rock and Soul Museum, and asked John, did he know

(12:27):
how to get in touch with me? Wow? So John says, yes,
I'll give you the program director's name, Tracy. They for
wd IA and she emailed Tracy, and so Tracy sent
me the email. She says, these folks looking for you,
they want to do an interview. I said, wow. So
I emailed her back and said, I'm sorry you hadn't
been able to get in contact with me, but here's

(12:49):
my number, you know, and here's my email. That day,
I'm walking to my car. She answered the phone. She says,
this is I've been looking for you. Wow. She said,
what do you doing? I said, I'm walking to my car.
She says, go and get in your car. I know
it's hot, so I can talk to you. She says,
I want to do an interview on you for CBS
News in America. And I'm thinking, huh. And then after

(13:12):
we talked and and she was she said, I'll get
back with you by days. And then she texts me
Terry and said, guess who's going to interview you? And
I was reading my email and it said, ja, I
get fellowing out in the studio. I said, what, because
I love James that I love football in the NFL,
and she said He's going to interview you. Awesome. So wow,

(13:34):
And thinking about that when you talk, Terry, you know
people have heard it. And when jb Uh called me
and talked to me, he said, people are still talking
about the story. He said. My friend Donny Simpson called
him and Donnie Simpson said, Man, where you find this woman?

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Chief?

Speaker 4 (13:51):
Fabulous?

Speaker 1 (13:51):
What I said? So JB said, you know, I said,
I know about Donny Simpson. I knew Donny Simpson grew
up in Detroit. That's where he started his radio career.
And I said, I know. He says, well, he loved
you and loved the story. Wow, and and and JB
called it to tell me that that is absolutely fantastic

(14:13):
and you deserve it every bit. WHOA, Okay, I know
did you feel really? I guess when you were being interviewed,
you didn't know what direction it was going. But because
and people have to understand in the interview, we we talked,
I mean, we talked and talk but they can edit it,
you know, because they only have three minutes or so
put because we were talking, i know, an hour and

(14:35):
a half. Because he they came into the studio. The
photographery you know, took the in the studio. But JB
interviewed me at the Civil Rights and you saw that, Yeah,
at the I am a man exhibit round and there.
So but why why there? I'm just curious why. Well,
one of the reasons I think they did it there

(14:57):
because to see how far Memphis have Oh, I come
because of doctor King was killed here, and so they
wanted to do you where you are now? Exactly what
and where the city is, what we've done, and so
he wanted and he had never been to the Civil
Rights Museum, so that was an opportunity for him to
tour the Civil Rights Museum. And the producers so I

(15:20):
thought it was a good choice, and so it was good.
I thought it was good. But they when they put it,
and I told Ale, the producer, I said, you are
you all bummed that? I mean those three minutes you
you hit it. That's awesome. You put it in. That's awesome.
Awesome you got going on. You got it going on.
I appreciate it. You know you got it going on.

(15:44):
Somebody got to tell you. If not every day, almost
every day we.

Speaker 5 (15:47):
Got it going.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
I appreciate it. Yes, man, it is a pleasure. Good
we don't we're gonna talk cars. I promise I got
But I thank you for that because I thank you
for asking, because you hadn't been here. I have not
because you and and I love y'all. When Terry come in,
he will he will always add this is bad, what's
going on? That's another thing. That's what I was my

(16:09):
next things? What else going on? Well, Saturday, you know,
I know I was inducted. Oh this past Saturday, this
past well, I wasn't there, but I couldn't. I couldn't
make it. But I was inducted into the National Black
Radio Hall of Fame. God, I gotta have two announcements
title cards for you now as as no being in

(16:32):
news and talk show hosts. But I was inducted on
Saturday in the National Black Black Radio the National Black
Radio Hall of Fame and Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame.
I'm gonna have a mouthful when I come on air now,
that's right, you can handle it, brother, Bem. I absolutely

(16:55):
love you. I missed you so much. Mister I missed
you too. Tierry, glad you bad. Thank you you came
back into the right cast. That's right. It's something. That's why,
that's why we hear this bell. You already know we
picked this day for a reason. Okay. Bev called me
and says, hey, what what day you want to come
back and say?

Speaker 6 (17:10):
Up?

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Tell me? I says, well, let's get it. Let's let's happen.
What's the Wednesday before the Classic and that's why we hear.
As a matter of fact, since we own the classic subject.
You know, every year, I like to always send the
Queen to the tailgate party in style. And because I
have done it so many times, I tell him, y'all, Terry,

(17:30):
you don't have to do that. She does. She does.
I can drive my own she does. Tell me, I
tell you, don't you do you tell me I pull
up when I get to When I pull up to
her house to drop the call, she walks out, terror
you ain't got Bev. Stop talking. He let me show
you how this vehicle work. But now, Beib, I absolutely
love to do it. Plus it allows me to get

(17:50):
out to mingle, you know. I like to you know,
I love taking photographs and do video. It allows me
to do that, and I always in the past have
always kind of held it close to the hip with
vehicle we're gonna get from his bell. But what I
was about to say was because she has gone to
the classic in vehicles, in our vehicles, so so so many,
so many times, I have narrowed down what Bev's taste

(18:13):
is in vehicles. I learned that the Yukon, the Naley's
and the Chevrolet tahoes and suburbans. She likes them, but
she don't really like to drive them because they're too big.
What I have discovered is Bev's she likes the mint
size SUVs. So last year, if I'm not mistaken, you went.
You went to the tailgate party in a brand new

(18:36):
Buick Unclave, the third row vehicle, the Buick. Well, Bell,
I'm gonna go ahead and tell you what we got
for you this year. I got a picture for you too.
You're gonna be riding in in a brand new twenty
twenty six Candy Apple red the new body style gmc akadium.
It's the same size as that unclaves, so you're gonna

(18:57):
like the size of it. And I even got a
picture here, I'm sure on Bell of the pit. Look at
those white seats in the inside. Well that's what I read.
I said, Bell, gonna love is red with them beautiful
the Naley wheels on it. But don't worry. Saturday morning,
I'm gonna drop that vehicle off for you, miss Bell,
and you're gonna be riding in style. You know what's
interesting the vehicles, The technology is so new. Usually every

(19:18):
year it's some feature BEV has to get out terry.
I couldn't do I couldn't figure out how to do this,
you know, you know. But anyway, I'm gonna make sure
I give you a good tutorial so you can have
a good overview because they do move, you know a
lot of times they're not even buttons. Now everything is
on a touch screen kind of like the phones. Everything
is pretty intuitive to If you can work an iPhone,
you should be able to work with these new vehicles.

(19:38):
But miss Bev, we're gonna be celebrating you on Saturday morning.
I'm gonna drop that vehicle off and you enjoy yourself
and let me see here what else I got. Thank you?
It is a pleasure, yes, ma'am. The classic this year.
The two teams it's all Corned State University, Okay and
University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. Awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome. Before

(20:01):
I get going, Miss Bell, anything else significant outside of
the national news broadcast you have, outside of being inducted
into the National Black Radio Hall of Fame, anything else
you've done and you're just breaking breaking records, No, brother,
that's classic takes. Oh yeah, yeah, so you will know
what's going on. Oh, I appreciate it. You're welcome. Awesome,
Miss Bell, Miss Bell. On my way up, I did

(20:22):
I bump my knee on the door coming in. What
you gotta? You gotta talent all on you? Maybe not talent.
All you gotta addvil? Maybe I have another? Leave your advil.
I don't have an advil, but you so jab I don't.
I think in our medicine cabin we have some tailanaw. Hey,

(20:43):
you can take that tyler now, brother, you better take
that tiler naw over your head. Did Okay, I got it,
I got it, I got it. We have some tayler now.
I got you. Yeah, I got you. Okay, I got you. Hey, Also,
I noticed, but we're gonna talk cars. I promise you
we're gonna talk cars. I hadn't seen my queen in

(21:05):
so long. We're just kind of catching up. So I
noticed Miss BELLV one last night the uh you know
Jimmy fallon his show was taking off air and he
came back on airline. I loved I loved him last night. Yeah,
I think he did. He did a job. But he
did a good job. He did and and and he
was sincere, yes what he said. But but but the jokes, uh,

(21:28):
he got it. So Jimmy, Jimmy is he or his
writers they're really sharp. They were sharp write. I loved
it because it was all because everybody wanted to see
what he had to say, yes and and and that
was good. So uh, I loved it. He was he
was excellent. And as he said, you know, the president said,

(21:51):
well he's you know, he has no talent. He don't
have any ratings. And I like what Jimmy said. He said,
I got some ratings. Got him tonight. I got him
to I know that's right, Miss b I love it.
How much before? How much time before the first break?
Let's see here, brother, let's go on and let's break.

(22:14):
Let's do it so we can get it. We can
come for our automotive socialists. We were trying. So somebody
else missed you too, Adrian, Yeah, yeah, so hey we
were talking about. I told Adrian yesterday, I said, I said,
you're a boy. Be back tomorrow because I was getting
my vehicle service. So Adrian says, okay, I'll be listening, right.

(22:35):
I love Adrian called me what was this? What's today?
He called me Monday? He says, I got a Miss Woods.
Miss Woods called me looking for you, thank you, brother Adrian.
And Missus Woods she's probably listening. I'm almost certain she is.
She is a blessing, Miss Beth. She was born in
nineteen thirty seven. Wow, she'll be eighty eight eighty years

(22:57):
eighty eight years old this year. And she called me
and said she was looking for some reliable transportation. She
needed a payment for about about two hundred dollars or so.
What I didn't realize is the next day she showed
up that she came on in there. All right, and
miss Woods, I'm trying to I'm gonna say her name
after the break because she has a really cool, unique,

(23:21):
beautiful first and middle name that goes together. But as
of right now, I'm just gonna say Miss Woods, and
I'll give you some love after the break, Miss Woods.
But she came in, Miss Beth, Missus Woods. She is
a blessing. And let me repeat that. She again, born
in nineteen thirty seven. She survived the West was the
West Nile? Remember the West Nile? Oh yeah, I don't

(23:42):
know why I don't have a West Mosquitoes. Oh yeah,
she said she survived it. She was she contracted it
and survived it. And I remember that, Yes, she she
got herself approved with no money down payments in the
two hundreds like she wanted it. She takes really good
care of her business. Let me put it like that.

(24:02):
That's all right. And her plan was to come back
the next day to take delivery of the vehicle. But
she says, Terry, don't be mad at me. I'm not
mad at you. I love you. That's why your your
your business is in check because you you pay. You
look at your budgets. You say you say what you
can put on, you say what you can't put on.
I love that, she says. A thought about it. I

(24:23):
did my numbers. I talked to my son about some
things that may be coming down the road. She says,
let me hold off for now and get back with you.
So missus Woods, I absolutely love she shouted in the showroom.
I showed her the nomber. She got on her old
walker and start shouting, Miss Woods. I love you. I'll
give your full name after the break, Miss Bev. Sorry,
that's hold you up. Let's do it break. If you've

(24:45):
dropped tuned in this day, we are talking to our
automotive specialist. He's back. Mister Terry Spicer is in the house.
When it's your turn to talk and ask Terry some questions.
Nine zero one five three five nine three four four
two eight hundred five zero three nine three four two
eight three three five three five nine three four two

(25:08):
will get you in to us. You're listening to the
heart and soul of Memphis.

Speaker 7 (25:14):
W d i A.

Speaker 5 (25:18):
Don't go away. The Bev Johnson Show returns after these messages.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
The Bev Joses Show.

Speaker 8 (25:47):
No over the time, working hard to break you out day,
never sellingday.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Welcome back to w d i A. I'm Bev. We're
talking with our automotive specialist Terry Spicer. Brother, you have
the floor. Thank you, my beautiful Tennessee Radio Hall of
Famer and National Black Radio Hall of Famer. Miss Bev,

(26:39):
you got it going on. Thank you, bro. Giving you
your flowers. Now I take him. I'm smelling. How funny
Miss Bille. Over the breaks, Miss Bell is hilarious. You
all absolutely hilarious. So before the break, I was talking
about my senior citizen. She was born in nineteen thirty seven.
Her name is see Ree Woods. I love you, Miss Woods.

(27:04):
Once again. If you just joined us, we're gonna we're
about to start talking cars. But Miss Woods was looking
for some reliable transportation. She wanted a two hundred dollar payment,
and she came out she found a share. Matter of fact,
since she didn't buy, Miss Woods, I'm sure you don't
mind this, I'm gonna talk about that car because it's
a really good car. She came out, was approved on
a twenty sixteen Chevrolet Cruise has one hundred and twenty

(27:29):
thousand miles. The only issue it was an older couple
that traded it in. The only issue it had it
had a tire pressure monitor light that was on. But
because Miss Woods was gonna buy the car, I had
the shop to fix to replace all the tire pressure
monitor systems. So that's been repaired. Miss miss Woods. Whoever
buys that cars, that buys that cruise should thank you

(27:51):
for that, because not all the time, not all dealerships
would always fix everything. But for you, I was gonna
have everything fixed. So having said that, if you or
someone you know is looking for a really good deal,
matter of fact, it's beif I did a video of
this car and put it on my Facebook wall. You
don't have to be my friend on Facebook. If you

(28:13):
type in terror Spicer on Facebook, I have on a
blue suit. It's the first video you'll see. It's a
twenty sixteen Chevrolet Cruise, one hundred and twenty thousand miles.
Two owners. First owner was in Florida, second owner in Tennessee.
That was a minor little bumper issue, the passenger front
bumper issue. But obviously you see the video, that was

(28:34):
repair and that necessarily didn't have to be a car accident.
They could have probably hit a mailbox or something. But
the car is in great shape. Priced under ten thousand dollars.
Give me a call nine oh one six seven two
four four two two, or just stop by the dealership.
That car will not last long, Miss Bell. Before I
really get going, let me give a super super duper

(28:56):
high salute to all of our police officers. You know
I had got a ticket in five years. I got
one last week. One of our good state troopers gave
me a ticket. But it's all good. I got my
attorney on top of it. But I know, I know
they're doing their job, and hey, you know what the
crazy thing is, I'm going the same speed as everybody else,
but hey, I was in the fast lane by myself.

(29:19):
I didn't argue with the speed that he said, I
don't think I was going in fast, but I know
they're doing their job. I just want to get the ticket.
I get my attorney to handle it. It's all good.
But I still love all my police officers because you
are doing your job. I appreciate you so hospital to
police officers, to our firefighters, all those military, non active
and non active, thank you for your services. Our freedoms

(29:40):
in the US. You know, we can sometimes take it
for granted. Our freedoms are not. You go somewhere else,
another nation of the country, where you go over to China,
you know, you get out of line, say something indifferent,
you might get man handled. But thank God for our
Freedom's freedom is not free. There's a cost to be paid, unfortunately, blood,
and of course there's a fire nial costs for our freedom.

(30:01):
So let's move down to cars. Let me first give
a brief story. Here one of my colleagues, Misfund of Moody.
Misfund the Moody has been in the car business. I
think ten fifteen years or so. Miss Funder was driving
down Germantown Park where I got a police report. Here,
let me read the police report. She let me just

(30:23):
read it. So here we go. So this happened. On
September the ninth, Officer Coleman responded to a crash at
the intersection of Germantown Parkway from Rock Creek Parkway. A
body worn camera was used at the scene. Vehicle one
was traveling northbound on North Germantown Parkway when it's rear

(30:48):
right tire became loose and struck the front passenger door
Vehicle number two. Now this is a replice report. Let
me just break down. Misfunda Moody's experience fund is driving
down the road and the tire from this young lady's
Chevrolet Tahoe. Miss Fanna says, please emphasize this that she

(31:09):
just purchased from Facebook Marketplace. The tire just came off
and hit Miss Funder's car, and she says, Terry, that's unbelievable.
So miss Fundam Moody, I'm gonna give her number out too.
Ms Funna says, if you buy a vehicle from Facebook Marketplace,
or if it's not at some time some type of
reliable dealership, or you're buying it from an individual, check

(31:30):
the tires these days. She said, her tire just came off.
Good thing for her. Her family. Her family came by
put the tire back on and she kept on her way. Now,
you don't hear that all the time, and that had
to have been terrifying for Miss Funder to see that
tyre coming at her. And she says, the good thing
is the young lady in the Chevrolet, the tall hoe
she did have insurance. Her insurance is going to pay

(31:51):
for the dent that Miss fun Funders car experienced. Y'all
send Miss fund Of a text and just wish her well.
And she says, get my numb out on the radio.
Somebody may be trust in the car. Miss Fonda Moody
cell phone number is nine zero one three five five
four two five eight. Miss Funder is from fed County.
If you live in fed County, she would love to

(32:13):
see you her number one more time. Nine zero one
three five five four two five eight. All right, Miss Bev,
I have a question for you. When someone comes to
the dealership and they say I wanna uh, I'm gonna
do a deal today, I'm paying cash, does that help

(32:34):
them get a better deal or no? What would you think? No?
Miss Bev is a smart study, you all. That's why
CBS selected her because they listen to the show. She's
a smart study. You would be right, Miss Bev. You
know in this mark. I bring this up because I
was watching some people. I don't know if I was
watching a podcast, but it was a debate about it.

(32:54):
When you go to a car dealership in the year
twenty twenty five and you want to pay cash or
you want to finance it, the sales person that you
walk up to really doesn't care. You can have a
bag of money, you can write a check, you can
finance through the dealership. The salesperson does not care how

(33:15):
the money comes. He just wants to sell the car. Now,
as most of us may know, the finance department, of
course they want you to finance. So here's the point, though,
I believe back you know, let's say nineteen eighty nine
and back, you know, back to the fifties when cars

(33:36):
first start get going. You know, you could probably bring
cash in and maybe if you go to the right
dealership who would do some stuff under the table, maybe
you can save a little money that way. But at
Sunrise and Bartlett, we are by the book. We follow
all the rules. Cash or financing gets treated the same way.
And here's another thing to keep in mind when you

(33:59):
finance at a dealership and you signed the documents and
the deal is sent off the dealership, a lot of
times will get the money put into the bank account
that night in some cases or the next day. So FYI.
Sometimes when you go to the dealerships not Sometimes when
you're at the dealership, you know, it may make you

(34:19):
feel a way that I got cash, But to the
salesperson doesn't really matter to finance. They would prefer to
to finances because they make money that way. Ms Bell,
I want to give some super high salutes to some
guests that I have served over the bunch. Here. I'm
gonna go back a little bit far because I had
you know, I've been absent for a minute. Here, let
me go back. I'm gonna give something I don't. I'm
not gonna put you to sleep. I'm gonna say a

(34:40):
few names. Will move forward. Let me give a super
high salute to my friend Talicia Epps bought a gmc acadia.
My friend Louis Williams and Corrin Krinn Williams his son.
They came out and bought a Chevrolet Tahoe. Darlene Ray
and Byron Ray love these two This was Byron's first car,

(35:02):
his Nissan Ultimate. Mister Byron Ray, Thank you so much,
Miss Darlene, thank you for allowing us to serve you.
My friend Adrian Macklin, Miss Betty Lee. Miss Betty Lee
bought two cars. Miss Betty Lee, I sincerely appreciate you.
Paul Parker, he's the loyal listener. Bev Johnson, Paul, thank

(35:22):
you so much. He got himself a certified Buick in Vista.
One more and I'm gonna move on. My friends Jimmy
Towns and Slandah Towns bought themselves a brand new Buick
in Vista. MS. Beth anything before I continue here, keep
all right. Let me tell you right now, I don't
like to brag a whole lot, but Sunrise and Bartlett.

(35:45):
I work at the Sunrise store in Bartlett, Tennessee. Bev,
we are blessed. We right now are the number one
GM store. I want to just say, buick in GMC
General Motors store in the mid South, number one. And
I say this with humility. We outsell all of GM
products right now. Any store that you see, if it's

(36:07):
not Sunrising Bartlett, we are number one. Even the Cadillac
store outsell the Cadillac store. We outsell all the Chevrolet stores.
We outsell all the other Buick GMC stores, and we
thank you for that. Having said that, I brought some
surveys so you can see the experience that people are
having when they come out and shop with us. Let
me read a couple of surveys. I didn't get permission

(36:29):
to say these folks names. I'm just gonna say their
first name that way. I'm good, I'm safe, okay, Mister
David P. His survey says, this was the smoothest vehicle
purchase that I have ever experienced in my life. Ed
Williams was a salesman, was very professional, very knowledgeable. The
finance manager was great. These employees are definitely an asset

(36:53):
to GMC and I definitely will pass the word one
more GMC survey Richard P. Great service. This is my
second purchase from GMC wolf Chase and I get all
my service work at GMC wolf Chase. Anthony was my
sales consultant and he was great, very professional, great attitude.

(37:15):
He took care of me. I always try and select
Ricky for service consultant during service visits. He is another
great asset. For Sunrise GMC. I read a couple more
surveys as we go, not to put anybody to sleep.
MS Bell I received the message. Let me find it here.
This young lady sent me a message about her situation,

(37:40):
and I messages her back. I don't know her, but
I messages her back. I says, hey, I see your message.
I am going to read your message over the air.
I'm not gonna say your name, but I believe this
will be helpful for many. And I just noticed she
hit the heart button, so she's good with that, all right,
So let me read the message again. I don't know her,

(38:01):
but here it is. Hello, mister Spicer. My name is
I was referred to you because I am in a
very difficult situation with my current vehicle and my payments.
My grandmother listens to you regularly on the Bill Johnson's
WDA radio show and suggests it I reach out directly

(38:24):
right now. My car payments are four hundred and forty
two dollars a month, and I have fallen behind. The
finance company was close to repossessing my car. I'm struggling
to catch up while also keeping up with future payments.
It's becoming more than I can manage financially. On top

(38:46):
of that, the car itself is in poor condition. One
of the headlights is out, the AC doesn't work, the
turn signal stick is broken, the radio doesn't work. I
desperately need eat a more reliable vehicle with a lower
monthly payment so I can stay on track financially and

(39:06):
not live in constant fear of losing my transportation. I
was told you specialized in helping people in situations like mine,
even when they are upside down in their current loan.
I would be very grateful if you could let me
know the next steps, whether I need an apportment or

(39:27):
if I can come by your dealerships to talk to
you in person. Thank you so much for your time
and consideration. And miss Bev, I told her, I want
to read that because a lot of us, even those
of us who look like everything is hunky dor going
through stuff. Yeah yeah, everybody. You'll see someone that look
like they got it going on. They going through something,

(39:50):
but you just don't know exactly. So in this situation,
my dear friend, I want you, and I gave her
my telephone number. I want you to call me once
I get off the show out sometime after one thirty
or just come by the dealership what I like to do,
because I can give a blanket response to this, and
I'll try to stab at a blanket response, but I
like for you to come in visit with me so

(40:11):
we can I can tailor make a plan for you
in this situation. Here, there's some information that I need.
I need to know the bank, how long you've had
the car, some other little details to help me tailor
make a solution for you. Now, one thing that's a
little bit challenging, especially in this market, Miss Beth. I

(40:36):
tell people now, and I say this jokingly, but I'm
saying with some truth there most everybody, and myself included
with this. When most people when they come in, they
want to get a what I call a cell phone payment.
They want a three hundred dollars payment. That's what everybody wants.
That is hard to achieve in this market. If you
want a car with decent miles, especially a car with

(40:57):
warranty on it, it's going to be higher than three hundred.
The new three hundred dollar payment, get ready for this.
The new three hundred dollar payment then twenty twenty five
is about five hundred, five hundred dollars is the new
three hundred dollars. That's inflation for you. You know, I
was doing some reading and I got this stuff written down.

(41:17):
The average price, the average price of a brand new
car is Let me read the fact so you don't know.
I'm not just winging in and making up stuff. The
average new car price in the United States is forty
eight thousand, four hundred and eighty dollars as of August.
The first this comes from Cox Automotive, so I didn't
make this number up. The average new car price is

(41:39):
roughly fifty thousand dollars. Having said that inflation is real,
I'm getting a sign made. Matter of fac I'm getting
a sign made for Bev's truck, just just a new
sign that just says Sunrise barlet on there. Last year
I got the sign. That sign was thirty five. The
thirty five dollars each. Inflation is real. He called me
and said, hey, I want to let you know the

(42:00):
sign is now fifty dollars. Wow, jumps up. Huh so.
And you know, if you notice in grocery stores, eggs, flour, milk,
everything gets more expensive. So if you hadn't bought a
car in five ten years, you for sure will get
a sticker shop for sure, because the prices have gone up,

(42:21):
pavements are higher now. I can remember my cousin George.
He's at the dealership. He's probably wrapped up now, but
he was buying a car and he had the last
time he bought a car, I sold it to him
back in twenty twenty, I believe. And I can recall
when he got that car payment it was something under five,
it was four or something. He thought that was a
little high. Well, as he's in this market, you know,

(42:44):
a new car, and I was just showing him numbers
he's actually getting. He was going to get a new
Buick in Vista. George is a big guy, but he's
decided to go ahead and go with the GMC the
now for the space but anywhere. Here's the point. Back
when he bought that car in twenty twenty, the payment
that he had on it was like for forty eight
I think, and now and I remember him saying, man,

(43:04):
that's high back in twenty twenty. Now the new payments
about five six hundred dollars. I says, George, that's inflation.
Things are gonna always just get more expensive. But anyway,
when if you hadn't been in the market for a while,
just know that prices are higher, payments are higher. If
you're used to getting a two hundred if you hadn't
bought a car in twenty years and you paid a
two hundred dollar payment, just no, miss Woods, you are

(43:27):
the exception. Now, ms WI, Missus Woods, you know you've
been taking care of your finance is so good that
the banks absolutely love you. Speaking of a person that
takes good care of their finances. I talked to our
good friend. I talked to him on yesterday, I said,
our good friend, but I won't give his name because

(43:48):
I didn't That wasn't part of our conversation. But so
two points here. The guy I'm about to mention ties
in to this point here. Back in twenty one twenty two,
when the pandemic was in full swing and people were
out buying cars. Most people who bought their cars in
the year twenty twenty one. In twenty twenty two, most people,

(44:13):
not everybody. Most folks paid too much for their cars
because prices were inflative. You can recall there was a
microchip shortage which made it to where new cars they
were not getting new cars, which put a strain on
the used car market. The used cars that were available

(44:35):
were becoming far few and in between, and that was
driving the prices up, so most folks paid too much.
So anyway, my good friend, let me just say, my
good friend bought a car, knew he paid too much,
and you know, loved the car, but just didn't like
the deal. Paid too much for the car and called

(44:55):
and said, hey, my car was stolen. And I said,
you know what, that sounds like a blessing to me,
because my friend has been trying to get out that car,
said as he bought it. So the car was stolen.

(45:15):
All the parts, the doors, the engine, everything was taken off.
The vehicle was burnt to a crisp. He said when
he saw it, couldn't even recognize it. So I said, brother,
that's an absolute blessing. I mean, thank god. You know,
it was just a it's just it's a machine. But
now he is speaking of good credit. Great credit had
gap insurance. And guess what his bank told him, Uh,

(45:40):
let us know when you're ready to get this next vehicle,
forget whatever you want. So I say that to say
this here. You know, after a while, the folks who
paid too much for the vehicle, the negative equity that
you unfortunate, that that big, massive negative equity. There's a
few ways to get out of that vehicle. A new

(46:02):
vehicle with a rebate that can clean it up. You
pay it off quicker, especially if your rate is I
pay it off quicker than prescribed to get out of it.
Or unfortunately, if the vehicle is in a total loss accent,
or if it's stolen, those are your way out. So
he was he was actually not even in town when
it happened, and I said, I said, that's that's definitely

(46:24):
a blessing. So anyway, I want to give you that.
And let me see what is this Golden Girl sending
me something? Hey Jerr just tuned in. You're welcome to
Oh yeah, she Golden Girl. She came up the dealership,
Miss Golden Girl. I would assume you still in that.
I believe it's a Nissan. She was looking for a
particular vehicle with a seat color combination. And in the

(46:47):
showroom there is a chart that shows you the colors
and the color she was looking for. They don't make
that color scheme anymore. So Golden Girl, thank you for
coming in and I hadn't seen you in a while
checking on me looking for the car. But yeah, they
do change the color palettes of the vehicles every so often,
the inside and the outside of the vehicles. Here, let
me move on here, Miss Bev, I don't want anybody

(47:09):
to fall asleep on us. How long before the break?
You got a few more men, Let's do it. So
let me make a couple other shout outs here. I
want to give a super high salute to my friends
Ozell Cherry and Deborah Cherry. They came out and bought
themselves a twenty eighteen GM Terrain beautiful vehicle. My friends

(47:34):
Benny and Cynthia Gooden, they bought themselves a certified twenty
twenty three Chevrolet Tahoe. They drove about an hour from
out of town to come and visit with me, Miss Bell.
They told me to tell you, they said, hello, loyal
listeners of the BEB Johnson Show. My friend Marcus Johnson,

(47:55):
Patricia Young, Miss Hazel Harris came out and got her
a good deal Toyola Corolla. My friends Greg and Joe
Ann Franklin, thank you all so much. They bought a
brand new Buick in Vista Tamika broadnext Roughing brand new.
She bought a brand new GMC yukun x L two

(48:16):
more Lawrence and Irma Watson and actually, you know what,
Tamika and her husband came out. They bought a second vehicle.
You know, miss Bell, I am really big before we
go to the break, I am really big on customer service.
When one of the benefits you get. If you wonder,
if you don't know who I am, you're just hearing
my voice for the first time, why should I shot

(48:37):
with him? You know, I like to go out my
way for guests. Customer service is like my biggest thing.
Even if you come out and visit with me and
we don't get the deal, or we don't do the deal,
or you change your mind, you're gonna leave here. You'll
leave the Sunrise Bartleer store saying to yourself, I didn't

(49:01):
get the deal for whatever reason, but that dude's service
is unmatched. That's what I want you to say. I
had a customers to be of this Saturday. I was
in the showroom doing my thing taking pictures. Gentlemen walked in,
don't know him from Jim John or Jane. I say, hey,
so you've been waiting on. He says, no, I'm looking
for service. I wanted to schedule an appointment. So I
took it upon myself just to walk the gentleman back there.

(49:22):
You've been at Walmart. You ask somebody where something is
and they just point yeah. Or you get somebody you
get a good represented to, they'll walk in to it. Yeah.
I like that. So I walk the gentleman back to service,
and I'm giving you a story because I know this
probably happens. We have a new young lady back there.
She means well, but she's new. So I go to
the back and I says, hey, this young man is
one of the schedule service. Can you help me with that?

(49:43):
And she's new. She says, well, you may want to
go to Ricky and have that done, and I says, well,
I don't think Ricky can do that. Here's the point.
So I took it upon myself. That's not even my job.
But I got the telephone number for him to call
to schedule the service because I want even that little moment,

(50:03):
I want his experience to be very good, like Chick
fil A. You like Chick fil A, miss Beth, No
matter how you feel about chick fil a. I don't
want to go into how you feel about it. You
can't deny the good service. So if you're looking for
a great car behind experience, definitely get with me and

(50:23):
allow me to serve you. What a she Okay my
telephone number nine zero one six seven to two four
four two two. I'll even say this, miss Beth, if
you're looking for a vehicle that a brand that I
don't carry, and I sell brand new Buicks and brand

(50:44):
new GMCs. But if all you want is a Mercedes
and this happens, there's a gentleman I should be calling
his name. He wanted a particular a Lexus. He wanted
a particular Lexus, and he wanted me, and I did.
Came it, came into my office and I gave him strategy.
He wanted to know how to get a better deal
at the lecture store. We sat out. I gave him

(51:04):
a plan and he thanked me for it. And I'll
do that, Miss bev Right, got it? You got it? Brother.

your guests. Mister Spicer, we sure did miss you. Glad
to have you back.

Speaker 1 (56:24):
Thank you, brother Jarvis, I appreciate you.

Speaker 4 (56:26):
Sir, Hey man, I have a twenty twenty Lincoln Navigator
and it just hit one hundred thousand miles and I'm
interested in trading it in. I live in another state, unfortunately,
but my question to you today is I want to
get an upgrade in my navigator. Would it be a

(56:47):
better time to trade it in at the end of
the year or at the beginning of next year. And
as you give your answer, can you also give an
answer about how much possibly I could save the different
kinds of rebates or different things like that. Sure, thank
you for taking my call, bell and congratulations on all

(57:11):
your accolades. And may God continue to bless you and
keep you is my prayer.

Speaker 1 (57:18):
Thank you, Jarvis, I thank you, and thank you for listening.
Bye bye. Let me take a stab at jarvis question.
So he asked the question, he has a twenty twenty
Navigator right at one hundred thousand miles, When is a
good time to trade. It's interesting, Jarvis, you called with
that question. I was doing some research last night. Let's

(57:38):
see what it says the brands. I'm about to reach
you something that I took a note of from some
information I was reading about vehicles and their inventory for
this year brands. Vehicle brands with oversupply of inventory right now,
check out this list of vehicles that has an overstock

(57:59):
of vehicles. And I'm gonna make a point of this.
So the vehicles right now as of September twenty twenty five,
that have an overstock of vehicles according to this comes
from carage dot com. So I didn't make this up.
Land Rovers, Rams, Lincoln's, Audi's, Mitsubishes, Dodge, and Jeep have

(58:27):
an overstock of inventory. Now, why is that important to
Jarvis's question? That's important for his question is because he's
trying to maximize his next deal, and because there is
an overstock of inventory, those dealers may be They're not

(58:49):
gonna say it up front, They're gonna act like it's
not even true when you show up, but they may
be willing to give you a better deal so you
don't go to another manufacturer. So to answer that question, Jarvis,
right now until the end of the year is probably
a good good time to try to work you out

(59:09):
a deal because they have more inventory than they need
in in their in their in their inventory. To be
quite honest with you, I want you to also keep
it in mind this too. And I'm mister Jarvis. Over
our next break, I'm gonna call over to my Lincoln
store and I'm gonna try to get some insights for
you as well. I know a couple of folks over there,
Nick Burchett, who runs the place I'm gonna see, and

(59:30):
I'm sure he's gonna give me something to get you
to come by today. But remember this here. People will
call me in. They will say when is a good
time to buy now? If you have the right sales person,
and the salesperson knows what you're trying to accomplish, then

(59:51):
the right time can to buy will be when they
find the deal you're looking for. But for the general
public who doesn't have their own sales guy. You know,
most people have the doctor, their attorney, their dentists. A
lot of folks don't have their sales guide. And I
can be that guy for you. I can be that
resource for you. And just FYI I'm actually I'm blessed.
I'm in management. I'm not a salesperson. I operate and

(01:00:14):
look like a salesperson, but I get paid a salary,
and I'm very thankful they have I have my own
little office. I get paid a salary. So yes, I
do want you to buy a car for me. But
if you are like Jarvis, if you want a Lincoln
Navigator and I don't sell them brand new, yes I
can get one pre owned. But I am connected with

(01:00:35):
most dealers here in the mid South. I can give
you an inroad to another dealer so you can get
a deal. Let me get to the point here. If
you don't have your own sales guide, there are two
distinct good times of the year to buy a car
where you're looking for a deal. Of course, December, which
is the last month of the year's the last month

(01:00:55):
of the fourth quarter, and most all of our domestic
math facturers want their books to look really good at
the close of business December thirty, first of twenty twenty five,
so they want to give you a great deal. So
that's why you will see big incentives A lot of
times come out going towards Christmas because they're trying to
win you over. But what you probably don't know is

(01:01:19):
the foreign manufacturers they're wanting your business also. They will
create big incentives to draw you to them. Now, the
most of the foreign manufacturers, their fiscal year does not
end until March, so keep this in mind. So they're
trying to win you over. They're trying to get your business.
So you don't buy domestic product like a GM product

(01:01:41):
is an example, or Ford product Chevrolet, buy gmc Cadillac.
But keep this in mind. If you missed that window,
if you missed the December window for whatever reason, you
bought too many Christmas presents, you need to wait. The
next good general time to buy is going to be
when the foreign manufacture when their fiscal year ends, and

(01:02:03):
that's in March, my friend. And what happens is, if
you can think back when March Maddens is happening, you
see a lot of automotive advertisement. And that's not by accident.
That is because the most of the foreign manufacturers their
fiscal year ends. The domestic fiscal year ends in December,

(01:02:24):
so they want their stocks to look great. The foreign
manufacturers their fiscal year ends in March, and they want
their stocks to look great. So the manufacturers are fighting
to earn your business. So keep that in mind. Two
months to look at when you're looking for a good
deal December and March. If you have a good sales person,

(01:02:44):
that salesperson can make your a good deal happen when
the deal you're looking for, the structure you're looking for
it comes about. I'll call mister Jarvis over our break
over to the Lincoln store and see what I can
get for you. I can probably even put in a
good word to say, hey, look, you give mister Jarvis
a good deal so I can talk about on the
air next month or the month after. So we'll we'll
work on that for you. Missus Jervis give me a

(01:03:05):
minute after this next coming break, Miss Beth sounds good.
Hi Meredith, Hey.

Why are you laughing?

Speaker 1 (01:06:12):

But I like my.

Speaker 1 (01:06:27):
Now bever you know you you have big money.

Speaker 3 (01:06:33):
Anyway.

Speaker 6 (01:06:33):
Moon, Yeah, I'm walking to you.

Speaker 10 (01:06:37):
Terry, is in your opinion how reliable or Porsche vehicles.

Speaker 6 (01:06:44):
In terms of service and in terms of cost of.

Speaker 10 (01:06:50):
Maintenance and also dependability and you know everything that the
whole game is.

Speaker 1 (01:06:59):
My brother, My brother he bought he owns a boy
he actually he doesn't drive it anymore, but he owned
a portion. Was a big fan of Porsche. Let me
give you some insight here. This is for Poorsche lovers
or whatever vehicle you love. What I have noticed being
in the car business now for over a decade. Just

(01:07:20):
check this out. Listen to let me get it all out.
So let's really wealthy people. Let me tell you how
they operate when they come to the dealership, really ultra
wealthy people. I have noted they like to buy brand
new vehicles because they're under the manufacturer's warranty. I have

(01:07:41):
seen where one of these ultra wealthy folks, they will
come bring that vehicle back in when the warrant is
about to expire, and they are trying their duty their
best to get it out of the vehicle before that
warrant expires, to get into another new vehicle, they believe,
and having a vehicle that is protected by the manufacturer's warranty.

(01:08:05):
I have noticed this, So and Terry, why are you
give me that speech about some ultra weather person. I'm
just asking you about the Porsche. Porsche's are expensive vehicles.
They are expensive to maintain. Miss Beverly. You sound high
class to me. You may not be interested in something
brand new. Maybe a pre owned, certified Porsche may be
something that you would look for. But I would say this,

(01:08:26):
here a vehicle, it is a machine. I have guests
that will buy a brand new vehicle and seven years
later they still have the vehicle, and they may maybe
not trading, but they'll get something else. I have had
a customer that have bought a brand new vehicle. In
the next month, there's problems a brand new vehicle. Having

(01:08:46):
said that, Miss Beverly, would I would recommend if Porsche
is your next choice, if you can, if it's in
your budget, try to go at one that's brand new
so you get all the benefits of the manner factors
warranted because the ultra rich. No, if anything happens with
that vehicle, the matter of fact, is going to take
a take care of that costs no money out of

(01:09:07):
your pocket. Now you can take advantage of a pre
owned Porsche. A pre owned Porsche gives you the same
type of benefits as a new vehicle, but you just
as a matter of factlet me let me break this
down while I got you on the line, Miss Beverly.
People will tend to ask me when they have the dealership,
what's the difference between this certified cars? Just to use
car and I'll say the certified car. Let me speak

(01:09:30):
for GM, which I'm very knowledgeable about the GM. The
General Motors products. A brand new General Motors vehicle, the
powertrain warranty is five years sixty thousand miles. That covers
everything that the motor all comes in contact with. Five
years sixty thousand miles. Okay, when that when that vehicle

(01:09:50):
is when they when if someone buys it, they keep
it for a year or two, they bring the vehicle
back in it is it goes under a survey to
make for sure that it qualifies for the certification. That
warranty for the for the pre owned vehicle the certification,
it moves from a five year sixty thousand miles to

(01:10:11):
a six year one hundred thousand mile warrant. And the
reason why General Motors does that is to keep the
value of their vehicles new and pre owned up. Keep
the values up because they know if it's preoned certified,
most people will tend to want to go with this
certified vehicle. Now if it's just a used vehicle without warranty.
So this is what has to happen. You have to

(01:10:32):
not only buy the car the price is selling it for,
but then you will be encouraged to spend another three
or four thousand dollars for a warranty. And I always
recommend to my guests to get those warrants. So Miss Beverly,
you call it one question. I know I went to
three different ways, but I'm sure someone didn't know that
didn't even probably even didn't consider it. And let me

(01:10:53):
go ahead and summarize for you. I believe that most
all manufacturers make great product in this market. They have to.
If they don't make great product, then they're gonna be
they're gonna go out of business. So whatever vehicle you
favor in this market, is probably a really good vehicle.
I would just recommend if you buy one brand new

(01:11:14):
to take advantage of all the matter of facturers warranty.
If you don't go brand new, go pre owned certified,
that you still get that protection. Miss Beverley, Miss Beverley,
I gave you a lot here that I give you
a piece of your answer, if.

Speaker 5 (01:11:26):
Not all of it.

Speaker 6 (01:11:28):
Well, one last question.

Speaker 10 (01:11:32):
Are you able to get hicals that you don't normally
have in stock at your dealership?

Speaker 1 (01:11:38):
Like a great question.

Speaker 10 (01:11:39):
You know somebody wanted to pour your Lexus or BM
or whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:11:44):
Great question.

Speaker 6 (01:11:44):
Don't care of those and stock where you?

Speaker 3 (01:11:46):
Are you able to get those that particular vehicle?

Speaker 1 (01:11:50):
Great question? So here's the answer to that. Yes, we
can get the vehicle. Since you this question comes up
quite a bit too. So let me give people the
playbook of how this works. Because someone called me and
want me to get them a vehicle, and they want
to do it from the house that says no. If
you want a particular vehicle, we physically go to auctions
here in town, and we also have access to an auction.

(01:12:11):
It's called smart auction. They have several different type of
online auctions, but the one that comes to mind first
for me is smart auction. That's where we got miss
Bev's vehicle from. So with smart auction, this is how
it has to happen. You have to physically come to
the dealership. We put it we I have my buyer
to put in what you're looking for. The you're to
make the model, the everything, the color everything. Once we

(01:12:35):
find the vehicle, we show you either on the monitor
or we print it out for you to look to
look at. If it's the vehicle, and we do this
quite a bit. If it's the vehicle that you like,
you have to either write a check for it or
get approved through our finance department. And once that happens
and you like the vehicle, then he hits the button

(01:12:56):
to order it. Now you may say, what if it
come in? I don't like it? Hear me out here,
So we hit the button. The vehicle may take two, three,
four days to get here, depend on depending on where
it's coming from. It comes in now on the paperwork
we meet. For an example, let me talk about Bev's
Buick Cascatta that we brought in. Her vehicle scored a

(01:13:16):
five I think on the auction we bought it from
one is not good, five is excellent. Bev's vehicle was
a five. No imperfections, no problem, nothing on it. When
that vehicle comes in, if it's not a five, there's
a because they take pictures of everything, all every panel,
inside and out, there are pictures taken of it. If

(01:13:37):
that vehicle comes in any different from the score and
the photographs, you have the right to just walk away
if anything is different from those photographs. Now I've been
doing this for over a decade, I can't recall anybody
walking away because usually when someone is that serious about it,
you know and they take and believe me, when the
when the guy brings the vehicle to the dealership, like

(01:13:59):
an Bev's case, when he brought the vehicle in, the
guy who was delivering the vehicle, he takes pictures because
he wants you to know I'm bringing it in just
as I picked it up, and we're taking pictures. So
MSS Beverly, that's how that works. So folks out there
for ms not just for Miss Beverly, but if you
if you want me or my dealership or most dealerships
for that matter, can do this. You have to show

(01:14:22):
up at the dealership show up. That's the number one thing.
And then you're gonna see the vehicle and you have
to either write a check or be approved before they
hit the button. They don't just bring it in for
you to look at. The dealership has to pay for that.
So you got some great questions, and I'm sure some
other people probably had that question, and you just got
a lot of people the answers they were looking for.

Speaker 6 (01:14:43):
All right, thank you, Terry.

Speaker 1 (01:14:48):
I'm looking forward to seeing you as well. Beverly. What's
going on y'all didn't invite me? What's happening on Sunday?
I'll invite you.

Speaker 5 (01:14:55):

bye to you. D I a hey caller?

Speaker 3 (01:16:32):

a vehicle that I think it's a ninety six thousand miles.
I have a warrant yer, it's going to expire at
one hundred and fifty thousand miles. Okay, can you get
an additional warranty?

Speaker 4 (01:16:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:16:49):
At one hundred and fifty if that warrant is going
to be over.

Speaker 1 (01:16:51):
You know, I'm not a finance manager. I don't pretend
to be one. Miss I don't think so, miss miss
bird Legs.

Speaker 3 (01:16:57):
But let me no, no, no, you don't listen said
you don't call me no, miss Birdleggs.

Speaker 7 (01:17:02):

that neighborhood scared me. I wouldn't go over there by myself.

Speaker 3 (01:17:17):
Well, well, well I wasn't nothing to play with. I
can't speak for nobody else, righty.

Speaker 1 (01:17:23):
Bird Legs, I don't think so, but let me let
me find out over the break. I got two things
to do with the break, and I'm going to give
you a concise answer versus me trying to wing it
and just guess at it.

Speaker 3 (01:17:35):
Well, well, well, I will try to continue to listen.
If those grandkids come out, I won't be able to listen. However, Faith,
once again, it's a pleasure to know you, and I
am so very very proud. I feel like you, Sam.
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (01:17:47):
I know and me as well as you.

Speaker 6 (01:17:50):
I love you I'm gone.

Speaker 3 (01:17:51):
I'm living though, all right, sister, thank you, head on,
swivel down there now right all right?

Speaker 1 (01:17:59):
Bye bye w D I A hey caller, Miss devil
le Carl your back.

Speaker 7 (01:18:09):
Yes, ma'am. I apologize. I hit the wrong buzzing when
we got ready to speak three minutes ago. Okay, I'll
be all right. Look, if this question has already been
asked before, I apologize in advanced. But here's my question.
If a person come into your store, terry and they
want to lease the vehicle, what advice would you give them?

(01:18:32):
And how would somebody go about leasing a vehicle? Let's
say a good question, say, okay, what's your top of
the line vehicle in your in your place right now?

Speaker 1 (01:18:42):
That's gonna be You know, you have the Denaling and
then you have the Denaley Ultimate. Can you believe they
got a vehicle that goes beyond the Denaling? That's going
to be the Denaley Ultimate. One of the difference in
the Ultimate it is when you look inside the Denaley Ultimate,
you you'll see that the passenger and the driver's seats
they have speekers in the head rest. I think that

(01:19:02):
is just so cool. But that's the top of the
line the nally ultimate.

Speaker 7 (01:19:07):
Okay, So if I came in, well, another person came
in and say, hey, I want to lease that vehicle,
what steps or what do we have to do to
get that vehicle? And I would hang up and listen,
take care of yourself, Carl.

Speaker 1 (01:19:23):
Go on, So let me ask that about the least
the first question. Let me use Bev Johnson as an example.
If Bev asked me that question, I know she wouldn't
but Bell would not be a good candidate for a lease.
The reason why is Bev and I would saying Bell
wants to get that title in her hand. And for

(01:19:44):
those who want the title, leasing is not the way
to go because you'll never get the title. And here,
before I continue, let me say this here too. You
got some people, miss Bev. They'll trade every three or
four years and they never see the title. They would
be good candidates for leasing, but they're kind of afraid
of leasing. So, Carl, the first thing that I would
ask a person before they go into lease is how

(01:20:05):
many miles do you drive a year? If you say
any number above twenty thousand miles a year, I would
say leasing probably is not the best route for you. Buying,
it would probably be the better way to go. Now,
if you say I drive ten thousand miles a year,
I would say, Carl leasing may be a great option
for you. There are some other questions I would ask

(01:20:28):
as well, but just for the sake of this in time,
I believe the mile question, Carl would be the first
question that kind of determines which route you should go.
For those who don't know, a lease, you're basically you're
paying for the depreciation of the vehicle. So I have

(01:20:49):
good friends of mine, mister Lennie and Betty Jackson. They
used to work for General Motors. They lease religiously every
twenty four months. And I ask them, I interviewed them,
it's on Facebook. I says, why do you all lease
every twenty four months? And they had a few reasons.

(01:21:09):
They said, when we lease, we are always under the
manufacturer's warranty. We never have to fix anything. They're not
necessarily trying to keep or have the latest and greatest technology,
but they do. Every two years. You know there's some
there's gonna be tweaks in the technology. Sometimes there's a

(01:21:30):
complete overhaul. Every two years. They get the latest technology,
they have it and it just keeps them, you know,
keeps them in a fresh vehicle, and they never you know,
they're they're paying a note that they would probably have.
Let's say they bought a car and they keep it
for five or six years. Do you notice, miss Belle,
by the time you finished paying for your car, usually

(01:21:51):
your warrant is over and you either have the buy
it extend they're warranty, or you're maybe fixing something on
your car, or you're considered trading so car. To get
to the point the first question, I would ask someone
who wants to leases, how many miles you drive a year.
If you drive ten to fifteen thousand, a lease is
a good consideration. I would tell folks if you drive
over twenty thousand, and there are exceptions to this now,

(01:22:11):
but if you drive over twenty thousand miles a year,
it may be better to purchase MS bev all right,
back to our phone lines to talk with you. Hi caller, Hi, Larry,
do you hear me? Larry? Hi, Larry, Larry's doing something.

(01:22:35):
We'll get back to Larry because I need to break

question with the bad quit Are you trying to get

a used vehicle?

Speaker 6 (01:24:56):

Speaker 1 (01:24:57):

(01:25:20):

he left in the car. He didn't think he was
gonna drive off. So we can help folks with challenge
credit as I like to tournament. So give me a
call or stop by and we'll put it together for you.
It's Sandra, and I would suggest Sandra go by and
see Terry, or you can call him, but he'll talk

Speaker 7 (01:25:59):
Let me look at the clock.

Speaker 4 (01:26:00):
Yeah, good afternoon, beautiful. You ain't gonna give me the date.
How you doing, Terry?

Speaker 1 (01:26:11):
What's going on, mister David? How you doing? My good friend,
you have a very distinctive voice.

Speaker 9 (01:26:16):
Well, well, look, I'm like bird Legs. As a matter
of fact, it's David indeed, one of those two. But
all right, I got let me just say, let me
just say Bell and bird leg h. Maybe Larry was
wrapped up with bird Legs when you try to get
hold up.

Speaker 1 (01:26:33):
Maybe so you never know, David, because you know, bird
Leg's be trying to write them insurance policies.

Speaker 7 (01:26:41):
That what Bell?

Speaker 6 (01:26:44):
Every time a young ladies act like she interested in me,
bird Legs come up.

Speaker 9 (01:26:47):
That's what she's saying on the radio.

Speaker 4 (01:26:49):
Y'all just won't be for that damn life.

Speaker 7 (01:26:51):
And sure.

Speaker 9 (01:26:54):
Anyway, how you doing, bird Legs. Good to hear from you.
But Terry, I was thinking about you yesterday.

Speaker 1 (01:27:00):
Man.

Speaker 9 (01:27:00):
I was looking at the television on CBS, of which
my girlfriend that well, she ain't my girlfriend, she got
too many boyfriends.

Speaker 3 (01:27:12):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:27:13):
And my newest JB that's what and I used to
like jav.

Speaker 9 (01:27:23):
But anyway, and they talked about how this big ugly
ass bill is affecting the electric cars, trucks and all
of that. And my question was to you, brother, is
this going to be a situation in which you know,
because you know, you're very knowledge. In fact, let me
say this, you're very noedgeal, but you're also a very

(01:27:44):
funny you are rhyme. Remind me of one of my
favorite shows on NPR, which is a Car Guys. You're
probably too young to remember that.

Speaker 1 (01:27:52):
Car guys.

Speaker 9 (01:27:53):
Yeah, the car guys. Yeah, two guys that will come
on every Saturday talking about cars and mechanics. Yes, yeah, yeah,
but but and I said to myself, man, he's gonna
make it.

Speaker 7 (01:28:07):
And you know we got blew over over here yep.

Speaker 9 (01:28:09):
So and I'm saying to.

Speaker 7 (01:28:11):
Myself, what I hope this is. I hope this did
to make it with their CEC what what s threw up?
A what dream?

Speaker 6 (01:28:17):
I mean, the whole the whole world is going electric.

Speaker 9 (01:28:21):
It's gonna electric, gonna be a big This man is nut,
I mean really nut. So what do you think the
future of electric cars that's gonna be? And and and
frankly I was, I mean, I don't know if you
remember I called you back probably months ago and I
was talking about the car that electric and also gas.
I thought that was a better move.

Speaker 5 (01:28:41):
Yeah, the hype man.

Speaker 9 (01:28:42):
Yeah, the hybrids, thanks you, thank you. And I think
I'm looking at sugar Rules. That's what I'm thinking of
because I've given up on Matt. I think I told
Bev last week I'm through. I'm just okay, I got
to do something else. But but anyway, so I'm starting
to look at hybrids and I'm looking at Sugar Rules.
I don't know whether they make one or not. To
be honest with you, they have a good reputation.

Speaker 1 (01:29:04):
While you're talking, I'm gonna find out.

Speaker 9 (01:29:07):
Yeah, but what is your cause?

Speaker 7 (01:29:08):
I expect your what do you think?

Speaker 9 (01:29:10):
It's not just that. And I don't like the President,
I'll be honest about that. But I'm all concerned about
the market and what impact negative impact is don't have
on the market for the touture of electric vehicles.

Speaker 1 (01:29:22):
You know, David, we sell a lot of electric vehicles
at Sunrise and Bartlett, a lot of them. Now, as
you already know, the the incentive, the seventy five hundred
dollars incentive that the government had out that that expire
September the thirtieth, and that's why we're seeing this big
wave of people not only buying GM electric vehicles, but

(01:29:44):
just electric vehicles in general. I was reading a report
last night. Tesla is still the number one electric seller
in the US and Cadillac is right behind them. Cadillac
is doing if you look, if you kind of google
the like lyric, it is doing exceptionally well in the
market right now, that Cadillac all electric vehicle. And I'm

(01:30:06):
like you, David and BEV. I you know, I would
prefer I think an electric and gas vehicle, just because
the infrastructure is still being built out. And over the
break Bell was telling me about some friends of hers
who were going somewhere an electric vehicle and when they were,
they were out and about, they couldn't find a station.

(01:30:26):
I didn't ask me to beef, but they were older
people were not but they were okay. I was going
to ask you, so a lot of the older people
that they're used to gas cars. You just get at
it and take a trip electric vehicles. There's an app
on the app it shows you where the charging stations are.
And I was telling BEV and electric vehicles because the
infrastructure is it's light right now, it's not built all

(01:30:47):
the way out. You have to plan your trips a
little bit, you know, But with the app, if you're
trying to go from here to Disneyland. You put in
the app where your destination is. That app will tell
you where to go to get the charge along the way.
But I'm going beyond the question that David asks. David,
I'm a big fan of electric I was. You know,
I'm still considering electric vehicle as my next vehicle. Here's

(01:31:10):
the point here, David, in twenty twenty, right at the
onset of the pandemic, I drove from Memphis to the
Grand Canyon, to California, to Warez, Mexico, and back to Memphis.
I would I right now, I wouldn't do that in
electric vehicle. I just I would prefer to have a
gas burner, kind of like what you're suggesting. I'm a

(01:31:33):
big fan of the electric vehicle. The infrastructure needs to
be be it needs to be built out more. You
got our good friends Prince Charles an example. He says
he doesn't want to buy electric vehicle so he can
get what you say, five hundred mile Maybe he's at
one thousand miles range. But electric vehicle, David, is that
something that you are considering or you're still leaning more

(01:31:53):
maybe towards a hybrid.

Speaker 9 (01:31:58):
Frankly, the prices on the electric is just too high
for me, for my for my budget. So I'm hoping
that a hybrids would be more in line with what
A and A obviously not a new one, although you
gave him good information before about that too, MSUs Cox. Well, yeah,
so I was at super Root said they have that's

(01:32:19):
a great.

Speaker 1 (01:32:19):
Yes, I'm connecting right now, David, excuse me, I'm connecting
right now with my super Root contact. They do have
a Superoo hybrid. It's called the super Root Forester Hybrid.
Let me get the costs on it. Let me get
the costs on it for you. So so they so yes,
let me. He didn't tell me the cost Let me
just ask that real quick. Yeah, well so so most

(01:32:42):
matter of factures, if they don't have an electric vehicle
or a hybrid, it's coming, you know, as you just
pointed out a very very good point, David, it is
the way of the future. Why anybody would fight it?
Your guess as good as mine. But at the Sunrise
store in Barlett, we're selling a lot of electric vehicles.
I mean, we got Tesla down the road. We're still

(01:33:02):
we're not beating Tesla, of course, that's all they sell
is electric. But we're doing really good with our the
Sierra Evuh. Of course the Hummer EV people is interesting.
People see that big Hummer truck and I open the
hood of it where the engine usually is and it's
nothing there. And they're like, well, where's the engine? I said, well,
there's a battery pact under underneath the vehicle that gives it.

(01:33:23):
That's its power track. It basically just the battery powers
the motors on the wheels. So that's why you have
all this this this space. So he's texting me the
price for you right now? And what why is it
taking him saloon to hit the send?

Speaker 9 (01:33:37):
But yeah, because I think you're giving China the advantage
because China is going to stop developing electric vehicles. Asia
is not going to stop doing that. So you're going
to be putting American manufacturers, you know, in the hole behind,
you know, in this country behind was what the future
is going to behold?

Speaker 1 (01:33:57):
They David, have you heard or looked at or seen
online the China electric vehicles called byd that Warren Buffett
is a big stockholder in the b YD Electric Company.

Speaker 9 (01:34:10):
No, No, I've heard of some some of the cars
again on CBS News, but I have not looked up
to any of them. Fact, I just started looking at
the at super Rules and trying to figure out whether
they had one the Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:34:24):
So I'm not.

Speaker 7 (01:34:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:34:27):
He says that the Super Rue forced a hybrid. It
starts at thirty seven thousand dollars and up.

Speaker 7 (01:34:35):
Okay, that's new.

Speaker 1 (01:34:37):
Correct, Yes, that's brand new. Yes, sir, I'm trying to
find out he has an all electric. But anyway, David,
I hope that we were able to answer your question.
You always call in with great questions and we appreciate that.

Speaker 6 (01:34:49):
David.

Speaker 9 (01:34:50):
Well, I appreciate you man. You've give him that some
great information and you're enjoyable to listen to. You know,
you speak, you speak to us and not down to
I love that about it. Thank you, thank you, You're welcome.
All Right, you have a great day, brother, and David.

Speaker 1 (01:35:07):
David, my last words to you, don't take no time.
No hey, David, David, David, they do have an all
electric super it's called the Soltera. It's all electrics. So
they do have an all electric vehicle. Also, so as

(01:35:28):
I was saying, most manufacturers, if they don't have the
all electric, it's coming.

Speaker 9 (01:35:32):
I'm assuming that's going to be high and but but
you know, let me say it. I'll be out of here,
and I know you can praise the time. Yeah, I'm
old school bell. I got my ticket to the Southern
Heritage and I got my ticket on the phone. But
I still miss my flip phone.

Speaker 1 (01:35:46):
All right, all right, brother, thank you, brother, thank you.
We love you, brother, all right, love go on, Terry.
You had some information, yeah, I got You've got some
information to give for my friend Jarvis. Jarvis I talked
to and actually Nick was was calling while I was.
While I was on the air, I didn't want to

(01:36:07):
interrupt my conversation with with David. But hold on seconds, Okay,
it's all about the same. So well, first, so so Jarvis.
I just talked with my contact over at the Lincoln Store,
Nick Birchett. I'm gonna call him in just a minute.
But I talked to a gentleman by the name of
Jeremy Black. I'm gonna give you his telephone number, Jeremy Black.

(01:36:29):
He did confirm what I read that they those vehicles
I read off the list that there are certain brands
that have an overstock of inventory. Jeremy confirmed they did
have an overstock, but they've kind of they just cleaned
it out just like yesterday, so those vehicles have an
overstock of inventory. Is the land Rover, Ram, Lincoln, Audi, Mitsubishi, Dodge,

(01:36:55):
and Jeep. Jeremy Black just confirmed that they sold their
last twenty twenty four Lincoln Navigator. I believe he said yesterday.
It was this week and they had twenty thousand dollars off.
So having said that, I'm sure you can probably find
another Lincoln store that's trying to get rid of their Lincolns.

(01:37:18):
You might want to go online and see who still
has those twenty fours in stock to where you can
get a big savings like that. Jeremy also said that
they have right now on the twenty twenty five Lincoln
Navigators zero percent financing is available. And I always tell folks,
if you can go in and borrow somebody else's money

(01:37:41):
at zero percent versus using your money, go with that deal.
So let me give you Jeremy's he gave me permission.
I'm gona give you Jeremy Black's telephone number just you
can call him and probe him for more information. But
I would definitely highly suggest that you go online and
see who has twenty four is still available Jeremy Lack.
His cell phone number is nine zero one three one

(01:38:04):
four zero zero six six. Give him a call and
in case you were writing it down and me said
one more time nine on one three one four zero
zero sixty six. He's at the Lincoln Navigator store here
at Lincoln of Memphis Bird Legs. I've called a couple
of finance managers on your behalf and they all kind

(01:38:25):
of coming back with the same response, which is most
of the franchise dealerships, they may not give you a
warranty the beyond one hundred and fifty thousand miles. It
may be an aftermarket warranty protection you may have to get.
But they did suggest if your vehicle right now has
ninety six thousand miles and the warrant is going to

(01:38:46):
expire at one hundred and fifty thousand miles, definitely try
to get another warranty while it's still under warranty. Don't
let that win expire and then try to get another warranty.
And I would say, two, the vehicle that where you
bought that vehicle from, go back to them and pose
that question. They'll for sure tell you about that. You

(01:39:08):
know when the when the miles get that high, you
have to start, you know, calculating, should I continue spending
this money for this warranty, find out what that number is,
but it's gonna probably a little bit higher than normal
because of the miles. Or should I just take the
same money that I was gonna spend send for the warranty.
King Harrio, this was his advice, that money you were

(01:39:30):
gonna spend on the warrant, to just take that money,
put it in an interest baring account, and then hopefully
after six months you don't have any problems. Before six months,
you got some money to fix whatever problem that may
come up. Let me also before Bell runs me out
of here. She's about to pull that wolfleball, bat out
her purse and run me out of here. They may
give some more high salutes to my friend Valerie Jones.

(01:39:52):
Let me read her. She's one of my surveys. She
wrote a beautiful survey. This comes from Valerie Jones. She
bought a brand new Buick. Her surveys says, the customer
service I received from Missus Spicer and Anthony was amazing
from the beginning of my car buying experience to the
very end. Even after I left the dealership. They follow
up to see was everything okay? One more for the

(01:40:14):
very This has come from Alex s. He gave a
great review for Sunrise at Bartlett. For the very first time,
I actually enjoyed the buying process. You don't hear that
a lot coming from a car dealership. Big shout out
to my friend Christing Billings. Robert and Christing Billings could
make sure I say this right. Let me slow down.
Kadais Kadisha Cowen's are probably best enough. Forgive me. Forgive me,

(01:40:38):
miss Cowens. But she came in and bought herself a
Chevrolet Suburban. Beautiful vehicle. My cousin, mister George Wright, he
bought him a vehicle. He's buying it today. Miss Barbara Williams,
let me come to a close with a couple more people.
Barbara Williams, Miss Bell, she visited with me a couple
of weeks ago. Her vehicle was in the shop. I
forget the name of the shop, but she would not happy.

(01:41:00):
She spent two thousand dollars in the car. Steel wasn't running.
Her plan was to write a review on Better Business Bureau.
I forget the details. Well, I didn't get all the
details of what happened, but I talked to her yesterday
and she says, Terry, the folks called me and the
guy says, we're gonna take whatever shot that was. They
have different branches. We're gonna take your vehicle, move it

(01:41:22):
from this shop, take it to our other shop, and
fix it. And she said they fixed it. She is
happy as can be. But anyway, two weeks ago, while
the vehicle was having issues, she wanted to get a replacement.
She came in with her church at her shouting shoes
and she was approved with zero down. The payment was
at a little bit higher than what she wants to be,

(01:41:44):
but she been working us. We moved that payment. She
wanted to be one hundred dollars a month cheaper. I've
got it down fifty dollars of fifty dollars closer to
where she wants to be. So she's planning to revisit
with me today or tomorrow. She says, I'm not trading
in bad I'm keeping her. But miss Barbara Williams, I
want to thank you. You have options. You could have

(01:42:05):
gone anywhere to get your approval, but you came and
did business with me, and I sincerely appreciate you, and
don't worry. You come out and work with me. I'm
gonna see if I can get them to get that
fifty dollars savings for you, a couple more for Bell's
runs you out and she give me that stare. Lincoln Harvey,
my guy, you always getting that truck worked on. I
appreciate you, mister Lincoln Harvey, you are my guy. Make
sure I don't forget anybody. I'm sure I'm forgetting somebody,

(01:42:26):
but I'll make it up because Lord's willing. I'll see
you all next Wednesday, October one, before I get out
of here. If you need to call me for a question,
even if it doesn't relate to the vehicles that I
have on my line, if you're looking at a Mercedes
or BMW, I have access to all these manufacturers and

(01:42:46):
I'll make sure you get to the right person. You
can call me my telephone number nine zero one six
seven to two four four two two one more time
nine zero one six seven to two four four two
to miss Bev and Terry. Give them your address again

(01:43:07):
where you're located. Thank you. Yes, I am located at
the Sunrise store in Barlet. Our address is eighty five
hundred Highway sixty four. We sit on the same parcel
as the SAMs and Walmart in Bartlett, Tennessee. If you

my name. Go to Terry Spicer dot com and you
can pull all my information up that way. Ms BEV

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
