listening to Fox Sports Radio. Greetings, Welcome inside our three
of The Jason Smith Show with my bas friend Mike Harmon,
oh Live from the Farmers Insurance Studio. It's called one
eight to eight Farmers. That's one triple eight farmers. To switch,
you can save an average of four hundred and seventy
bucks on auto insurance. It's a lot of money for
(00:45):
a quick phone call, don't you think average nationwide annual
savings survey Dad at July to December. We are farmers,
So we got great positivity Friday story coming your way
in a couple of minutes. But you'll listen. Clearly the
day and the news cycle has been owned by two things.
(01:06):
How disappointing coming to America is and the series in
Slash series Finale of One Division now well we'll get
it back into coming to America coming up in a
bit Becau. Still a lot of people haven't seen it.
Um One Division has been everywhere, and you know, it's
one of those things where, hey, you know, last night
we did uh we did the Mike Harmon thing. Woke
Zoe up at midnight to want to see if she
wanted to watch One Division when it hit, and I said,
(01:28):
listen before she went to bed. I said, Okay, if
you get up it's midnight, we wake you up and
you still want to go back to bed, that's fine.
We can watch in the morning. Just you know, I
don't if you're real groggy want to go to bed,
just tell me how you feel. And so I going
to wake her up. We finished the show last night
and I go in and I go hey, I go hey,
z I said, uh, it's midnight, Wan Divisions up if
you want to watch it. She opens her eyes and
(01:48):
she goes and Pam goes, Zoe, do do do you
want to go back to bed? And she just just
opens her eyes and push herself off the pillow and says, nope,
I'm up there. You go say it was like in
the Army when you wake up and okay, time to
get up. Well that's it, you hear me, and you
gotta get get get moving. I mean, i'll tell you.
(02:10):
And it was fun. And look, the one thing and
I'm not really spoiling anything by this, you seen it yet, uh,
the one thing I can say, because it is a
phenomenal series. I mean, you think about what they've been
able to do front to back with all the clues
and all of the the detail that goes into this series.
The one thing I would say that was a little
disappointing for me in the finale was as great as
(02:32):
Catherine Hahn has been all season long. She was phenomenal.
When it gets to the final episode and there's you know,
the big showdown, the big the big battle, but really
you don't think there's gonna be a battle, this is
the ultimate show down. She doesn't really She didn't really
embody the big super villain that they built her up
(02:55):
to be in the last few episodes. You know that
that was that was one thing where I thought she
just she just doesn't have that that swagger that that
a lot of the big bad supervillains have, like whether
it was Loki or Thanos or you just need just
just didn't Boly. She is a terrific actress, and she
was great all the way through. But when it came
time to one of those hey, you know here, here's
(03:17):
here's a Monoa mono kind of showdown, I thought that
was a little weird and and and it did it
didn't get pulled off, and and plus you know what
the you know where where they have the you know,
some of the big scene shot was obviously on a
back lot. You know, it's like, okay, I get your
saving money because it's a TV show, even though you're
spending a lot. So look, just those couple of things.
I thought it could have been a little bit better.
But that's my main thing. I mean, that's my main
(03:39):
thing of the entire run. For nine episodes, everything it
was like it was it was almost it was like
a perfect game up until the end. And then you know,
maybe there was a stumble and you walked about her
and there was an error, but it really was it
was like a perfect game all the way until the end.
That's the only thing I can say that boy that
was a little disappointing was was her needing to embody
more of the big super villain and I just don't
think she did well. I think there there's a couple
(04:01):
of parts to it. Number one, I felt like I'd
seen some of those houses on the Universal back lot,
even though a lot of it was shot in Georgia. Uh.
It made me want to go to Georgia. That's all,
you know, just go wander around some of the nature
for a minute and then come back or wait a while,
I don't know what, whatever the case. Maybe but obviously
some incentives to go film there. But yes, the the
(04:24):
green screen effect, But that's you and me being you know,
big Hollywood types like we are here and the town
looks like that. You like, what kind of town looks
that way? I mean look like that. That's the problem
when you know how the sausage is made a little
bit right, so you have that. As for the rest,
I saw, you know, just clips of complaints of different things,
(04:46):
not getting to where all the hype was. The clues
were right because it had its own writer's room of
all fan fan fiction of how things had to play out,
where from the comics this would go. Remember, this is
all just another bill to the next level of the
m c U. They didn't have to explain it all now.
It didn't have to have a nice, tidy ending. It
(05:09):
really was just meant to open more doors and get
you more excited about a couple of other characters, right. Uh,
And so I think some of the concerns will will
get answered. The Catherine Han thing look Northwestern Class and
ninety five go cats. Uh that I was hoping for
that big explosive and which I can get. But that's okay,
(05:30):
that's okay. She's not done. She'll be in the in
the movies, I'm sure. And I needed more Cat Dannings
didn't get enough of her, or Jimmy Woo for that matter. Yeah,
you know I would Jimmy who looked confused a couple
of times. It's hilarious. He's so funny. He's one of
the funniest actors out there, and I felt like, boy,
they really needed to give him a little bit more
to do in there, because he's really funny. Have you
(05:51):
seen any of Young Rock? No? I haven't seen Young
So the premise off the first one. I'm a couple
episodes behind, but the first episode is like setting up
the storytelling of all right, here's my life, and it's
the Rock talking to Randall Park as Randall Park but
talking about potential political aspirations, and Randall Park is just
(06:12):
phenomenal in that. So you know, he's he's kind of
popping up everywhere. Uh, and there's a whole cult of
Jimmy Jimmy Woo that's starting new to pop up all
over online as well. So we need more of him
other than a couple of confused action reaction shots. But
you know, all in all, Uh, it was a great
bonding time with my my twelve year old. We had
(06:33):
a lot of laughs and and we keep sending each
other the theories of what's next. And uh, you know,
now it's waiting for Black Widow to get released finally. No, no, no,
now you got Falcon and Winter Soldier in like a
week and a half. No, we're just it's just could
we're rolling marvel In tomorrow. You know, there's excitement about that,
but it's still the Black Widow movie. And will they
(06:55):
really let Bucky be the smartass that he should be,
because if they really let this series be what it
can be, this is gonna be phenomenal. Hey, the kids
shouldn't be watching this kind of stuff. Close your ears, Madeline,
You don't want to hear what he's going to say, Like, Dad,
I've heard you yell at soccer games and at ball
games all the time. Twitter at how about a Fresco
(07:18):
Mike get swollen doll of the Jason Smith's with Mike Harmon.
But other than that, look, one Division was a near
perfect game. It was an awesome, awesome series. But speaking
of positivity, maybe you saw this story earlier today and
this is about more than just California. But on Friday,
California lifted coronavirus restrictions on outdoor sports and entertainment venues.
(07:40):
This means that fans can attend games on Major League
Baseball's opening day, and theme parks like Disneyland Ken reopened
for the first time in a year right now. Not
that suddenly, hey, you're gonna get to go to Disneyland,
and not something that you're gonna leave the state you
live in to come to California and see a baseball game.
But cal California has been one of the most conservative
(08:03):
states throughout the year of COVID nineteen and even though
we were conservative, we still had l A B the
big epicenter of COVID for a month a couple of
months ago. Look, we're a big city. It's just it
just happens that way. But the fact that now fans
are going to get to come to games and Disneyland
is opening what we told you a month ago was
(08:23):
going to happen. We're just about at the year point
now for COVID nineteen. I think the thirteenth of March,
if I remember, is the day where they said, okay
in person, school is ending, and you know that that
anniversary is coming up in a week, And that was
the real beginning of of of COVID nineteen. Rudy Gobert
test positive for COVID nineteen, the NBA gets shut down,
and that was really what started everything. If you think
(08:45):
about big things that happened in the world right with
something really really large, sports always plays a role in
it because no matter what kind of leaders we have
in our country, they always kind of say to the
side of their mouth, Hey, what's up, what's see I
felt going to do about this? Hey, you know what,
what's what's the NBA gonna do? As far as discuss, Hey,
what do what's Major League Baseball are gonna do here?
(09:07):
And it was a month ago where we said, look,
things are doing going really well now for COVID nineteen.
Now we're not done. We're not out of the woods,
and we still have to keep being smart, you know,
keep wearing your mask, you know, go and get vaccinated,
you know, those things that continue happening. This is why
the COVID nineteen cases are going down. And we're really close.
I mean, we are this close to getting back to
(09:28):
a modicum of normality, which we think which I think
will be a great deal of normality by the time
we get to the summer. But baseball, the beginning of
baseball season, we told you a month ago this is
gonna be a big benchmark where people are going to
feel that normality is somewhat back right, And maybe now
you feel a little bit. You know, there's different things
(09:48):
that go on, and everybody states maybe youth sports are
opening up and that you know, that's one thing that's
that's big. The last couple of weeks here in southern California,
I'm getting back to you know, we're getting back to
softball and potentially having a season. There's there's different things
to you that that are going on around around the country.
But the fact that you're gonna see the beginning of
baseball season, and fans are gonna be in the stands,
(10:10):
and fans can go to games, and people are going
to Disneyland. That is a huge benchmark, and you're gonna
feel celebratory. You're gonna feel like, Okay, it was a year.
It was a sucky year, and it was more sucky
for for other people who lost people and the people
who fell victim to COVID nineteen. But in the end,
all we can do is look forward and say, hopefully
we have better days coming. And it's gonna, like I said,
(10:32):
it's gonna be a year. But the beginning of the
baseball season, which is coming up in about two and
a half to three weeks, uh, that's when it's gonna
start feeling like, Okay, we're almost there. It's gonna trust me,
it's gonna cut through the clutter and the opening of
baseball which always has a connotation of of fresh starts anyway,
not just for the baseball season. Hey, everybody is undefeated,
hope springs eternal in the spring, but just the fact
(10:55):
that the spring is generally in in, in, in, in
the world up heart of okay, everything is new again.
A right, we're having a new year. We've done we've
gone through the winter and gotten through the cold weather,
and we're cleaning out our closets now and we're getting
rid of stuff. We're hey, we're gonna get our to
do list of things we want to accomplish this year,
things we want to go. But the beginning of the
Major League Baseball season is going to be at the
(11:17):
top of that. And that's what's gonna tell that's gonna
be the big vision of everybody going, Okay, we're getting
back to normal. You're already seeing people at at games
in in Arizona and in Florida for spring training, and
it's kind of fun. It looks kind of normal because look,
there's not many people to go to spring training games anyway,
but you know, seeing people there, you're starting to get
used to a little bit. But trust me, that first week,
that opening week of Major League Baseball, that's how it's
(11:39):
gonna feel. You got me all giddy now that there
there's gonna be some percentage when the White Sox visit Anaheim.
I'm just telling you now, I'll report live, I'll do
the show. I mean, there won't be a ton of
people based on the percentages California is gonna do. I
don't know that I have an extension cord to hook
the comrax up, but I'll get some of your plugs
(11:59):
and we can of the show from uh, you know
the Angels. I mean really, I mean even in regular situations,
you just you get a lot of comfort going to
Angels games. You can sit out and stretch out across
like four or five seats of Angels game. Remember we
had Bill Plashkia man. I got right into that parking lot,
parked right up front, walk right into the stadium, walk
right in. Uh, just the idea, dude. When I went
(12:22):
to a game a year ago, they brought Jimmy John's
to my seat and remember minutes, Hey, what would you like?
I can get Jimmy John's. Yeah, what would you like?
I'm I'm your waiter for this section? You are I
have a wait air for that? Yeah, I'll have a
Jimmy john sandwich and a Diet cocon a bag of
chipsy Sure. Three minutes later. Hey, sorry for the wait, sir.
What do you mean wait a quarters? Which three minutes ago? Oh? Man,
(12:42):
Angels games are the best. Well, because that's one of
the things that still exists. If still in the purple
phase as it is laid out here in California, still
in purple, it would only be a hundred people and
then it would be in seat dining only, which would
mean you're Jimmy John's or insert sam would to prevaire here,
would have to bring you the sandwich. Jimmy Johns used
(13:03):
to have great ads when they were first starting out.
We had one on the Evans near the Evanston campus
and it was the ad was you want to lose
ten ugly pounds or twenty I think amount of even
in twenty It's like, you know, came across doing terrible
things to yourself, or you could just order a Jimmy
John's subs. Really kind of an odd marketing camp. It's
(13:26):
stuck all these years later. But yeah, obviously there's a
lot of pressures right Certain states have opened up, taken
restrictions off, and then it becomes the business to business
how they're going to handle here in California. You mentioned conservative,
which is funny because well, for the most part anything
but but when it came to uh the administration and
(13:48):
and opening things back up, certainly conservative and looking at
numbers and a lot of arguments and fights they're in.
We're not gonna go all political, but you know, we
we make note and I have to do it, and
that there is a recall in progress against the governor.
So some political pressuring as well as numbers. I think
it all works together in one fell swoop. The good
(14:09):
news is that we are getting back on the pitch right.
I've got another scrimmage to go watch my daughter run
around in tomorrow. We're starting to talk about athletics at
the high school level. I know uh LaVar Arrington. I
work with him on Sundays, as you may know. Uh,
he coaches football. And they got back to practice on Monday,
and he was actually nervous about it because we've been
(14:31):
hitting the weights, weight room and everything else. But it's
been in this holding pattern for months. And I think
you've got a lot of programs out of the same
where all of a sudden it's like, all right, hurry
up and go. Uh you've been planning all that all
this time, and now it's like, hey, three weeks later,
you're gonna play your first game. It's like, okay, uh,
let's get get moving then. And so when it comes
to getting back to theme parks, getting back to the
(14:53):
the inside of a stadium. There's just that level of
excitement and you're standing there and say, it's less than
a month away. Don't screw this up. However, however, you
need to make this happen. And it doesn't mean everybody's
gonna go running back into it, but the any any
sign of hope, right, it's the best the things, worst
(15:14):
of things. Go watch Showshank again. Uh, there's your cliff
notes version, but it's the opening back up of possibilities, right,
putting something on the calendar of Hey, this team is
going to be in town. For you, it's the Mets.
For me, it's opening day, right, I mean until this morning.
I'm like, I was talking to my brother two days ago.
I was like, I don't know, because in Chicago they
(15:35):
started open things up bar Um. Closing time got pushed
back to like one am now as opposed to ten pm.
So getting back towards that three am norm of closing
out closing times. Uh, and capacity at a big shift
for them, and we didn't have notice here that that
was happenings. Conject your speculation. But today you finally at
(15:58):
least see a little no in that direction doesn't mean
that they'll necessarily be able to come out from Chicago
to go to said game. But if I'm there to
be a real pain in the neck and such a
great ambassador for Fox Sports Radio, wearing the beautiful colors
and representing the one oh eight section and drinking my
fair share of beer like they do in the one
oh eight, then we all win Twitter and out about
(16:23):
a fresca Mike and swollen Dolman. Boy, if you're hammered
when you come on the show April first night, I
don't know if I want that or not. I don't know.
I mean, I think that might be fun. Then I
think you'd probably get fired. I'm just thinking that's how
it would go. But it mean you could be legendary though,
Oh I am legendary already. This is just taking me
up to a whole love love. Be sure to catch

Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon, oh Live from the Farmers Insurance Studios.
(17:53):
Call Farmers today for a quote. Well, we knew this
is gonna be a different kind of n c A tournament,
and clearly already in the early conference tournaments. That's happening
now this weekend is the the smaller conferences having their tournaments,
and next week We get the power conferences having their tournaments,
but already we've had a team clinch a birth in
(18:15):
the n c A tournament without playing in their championship game.
It will be this Cape Crusader. How is that possible
team has advanced the championship game yet they've already clinched
a place in the n c A tournament. This is
the story of liberty, liberty, liberty, liberty, liberty, liberty, liberty.
Liberty is set to face North Alabama in the Atlantic
(18:38):
Sun Tournament championship game on Sunday, but it's already in
the n c A Tournament because North Alabama is a
school that's transitioning to Division one athletics and is ineligible
for the n c A tournament. So even though look
they can still play and but they've made it to
the championship game, they're ineligible because they're still transitioning to
(19:00):
Division one athletics. So, Liberty, even though they haven't played
in North Alabama in the championship game yet, they have
clinched a spot in the n c A tournament. How
dumb a rule is that you're still transition We're playing
over here for crying out a lout it doesn't matter.
Your paperwork and your approval process is in limbo. Uh,
(19:22):
you have a four year probationary period. Are you kid me?
That's asinine? It's not. Hey, they're under suspension for something
a coach did on athletic director. Did you got boosters
that were handing out orange whips all around campus? How
you got none of that? His satchels of cash on,
(19:45):
you know, under the guise of hot wheel cars. Whatever
the case, maybe you got none of that you got? Hey,
you haven't finished your four years of transition yet. And
this is the team North Alabama like finished the season
on a one in seven run, Like they were playing
terrible the end of the season and now here, but
they got a couple of wins and they're in the
(20:06):
a SOUN Tournament championship and but they can't make it
because they're still transitioning. So Liberty has already made it
without without having to play in a championship game. They've
already made it and you know in an Alabama and
another one to night. I mean, just think about this too, Drake,
who's a big bubble team made it into the Missouri
(20:28):
Valley quarterfinals or the semifinals because their game against Northern
Iowa was canceled, so they had a walkover game because
Northern Iowa had a positive COVID nineteen test and so
they couldn't play. So it's a walkover. So now they're
into the semifinals without having to play this big game.
A bubble team is now moving on into the Semis
(20:49):
and Drake because the other team had a positive COVID
nineteen tests. Now Here there are bubble team in there
in the Conference Semis already. How is that going to
be looked at by the committee? Right? Is it going
to be well, they made it, well, they didn't have
to play a game. How they play? I mean, I
really I I don't envy the committee. There's gonna be
so many questions. There's gonna be so many upset coaches
who don't make it into the tournament this year because
(21:10):
so many teams are gonna have very a similar resumes.
Because everybody's gonna play around twenty games, you don't have
the ten more games that that that teams separate themselves.
It's gonna be a lot of controversy. It's gonna be
a lot of upset teams. It's gonna be a lot
of craziness and the selection committee is gonna bear the
brunt of this. Of every year, the selection committee gets
(21:31):
criticized because here's the teams we left out. And the
committee always has a different reason, Like one year it's
well you didn't do well enough in your Tier one games.
The next year it's well you didn't win enough games
away from home. The next time it's all the teams
with the rp I. Every year they change the the
reasoning to fit their qualification, and it's maddening. This year
it's not gonna matter because you're gonna have ten or
(21:51):
twelve teams instead of the two or three. You're gonna
have ten or twelve teams are gonna say what about us?
I mean suddenly the a c C is a bad
league this year, right like these a c C? Wait?
Why is the a c C so bad? Why is it?
Why is the Big twelve gonna get everybody in when
they all have the same records? Everybody's the Big twelve
really that good? I mean you could have you could
have five or six teams just in the a c
C going hey, what happened to us? How can you
(22:12):
not letting the tournament isn't it great? They can all
go play in the n I T together. Five of
the sixty teams here we got they're all passed. Now
they're here. It's the A C C N I T.
We're just gonna play amongst ourselves. But you've had multiple issues,
uh because of COVID. Uh this week we talked about
(22:35):
the Northern Iowa circumstance. You also had a Holy Cross
had to bow out because of COVID in the Patriot League.
So Loola Maryland advanced, h Jacksonville Charleston Southern forced to
miss their conference tournament. So still pops on the radar,
not to the critical mass and to where the sky
(22:59):
is falling? Is p Bowl wrote all the columns and
tried to negate any sporting events and saying that they
shouldn't be had at all. Uh, he's certainly not to
that level, but just reminders that there's still some issues
out there and and and some circumstances that need to
be attended to. But the show goes on, Jim behim,
(23:20):
We'll have more reporters to belittle before this basketball season.
Fish Hey, he apologized for it. He apologized for that.
I mean, he said he was so how many times
you get to pop off like an ass and just
oh sorry, that's kind of what he did it again,
that's kind of what he does that. That was good
forty years ago because the only guy that had it
where the three people standing there to talk to him. Now,
(23:45):
not now, you've just transformed into full time jerk where
the microphones live. Come on, man, he would be snarky.
And I like snarky guys and snarky coaches more than
any person perhaps on this planet. But you know, there's
there's the line that he leapt past. Do you know
how many of my friends have texted me in the
past three days saying are you tall enough to talk
(24:08):
about college basketball on your show? You how many people
have said that to me? Well, and then you told
the story yesterday of the Beat putting you in your spot.
Oh yeah, it seems the beat man, I dude, say,
you know what, are you four eleven? Okay, okay, we'll see,
we'll see. Listen. I'll make you feel better. Yeah, alright,
so you're you're taller than four eleven? I am, but
(24:28):
this Super Bowl event, right, I'm there all week of
going doing interviews, I get introduced to a bunch of
guys at an event, and then we're we're at the
Madden party and it's late. Everybody's just by this point,
everybody's a little liquored up. Uh. And then someone hits
some microphone and says, hey, hey, someone uh still here,
a friend friend of you all. He'd like to come
(24:50):
out and perform ladies and gentleman snoop talk. And he
comes out and the Madden Bishop Magic Don Juan comes
out like it's straight out of old school. And a
couple of the guys NFL players, Uh, yeah, hey, you
want to sit on my shoulders so you can see. Oh,
(25:15):
we've been we've been best friends ever since. This is
when I mean, you don't forget introductions like that. Between
that and you know, telling me that the good Lord
uh did me wrong and not so many and not
so favorable words, uh certainly not FCC compliant. Thank you, Randon.
Those were my welcome to meeting and NFL players outside
(25:38):
of a normable work environment kind of situations. And I
love them all. I felt accepted. Oh that's awesome, that's awesome.
You can tell that story after all these years. You
want to you want to get on my get on
my shoulders, little man. Come on, he may or may
not have gone to your school. Who okay, well all
(25:58):
right then wow, hey, cuse you, excuse you, excuse you
twitter At, how about a fresco Mike gets swollen. Don

(26:21):
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app.
I think the saga really goes more like six two
six three. I mean really, I I can't believe he's
really only six feet tall. Well, he's a veritable giant.
We well, compared to all of us, I mean yeah,
I mean but there's there's no I mean yeah, there's
athletes that are taller than that that work at Fox
Sports Radio. But I think he's the tallest one. Yourself,
(26:44):
t shirt out, how tall are you about? Six almost
six one? Oh? No you're not. Come on, you want
you said all the time. Yeah, you're a Steven Steve
Stance tall. There's no way you're you are not you
are taller than the Sagres. No way, No, there's no way, man,
you are you watch what I don't know. Bow Benson
might go and bow your heads together. That might bows
(27:06):
A big dude, both bows A tall dude. That's just miniature.
Ben Maller, what are you saying that you forgot? You
conveniently forgot your guy, Ben Maller. I mean he's a
terrible giant. Yeah, Ben, Ben's Ben's a big dude. But
I really thought the Sager was tall. I really thought
he was. I don't know, I haven't seen to say.
You're in a while. You know, we're all doing the
shows from home. Yeah, I mean everybody's taller than me,
(27:29):
so I don't I don't really get into that. The
only guy see eye to eye with our Robert Garret
and Cooper. What if like the next time I came
into work suddenly I was I was like six inches taller.
Like you have a lot of questions. You don't see
him for a while. It's like, way, you have a
full head of hair. No, I always had this hair.
No I remember, no, no, no, You've been going six months.
(27:51):
Based on a lot of the treatments that are out there,
it would stand a logic that you began the day
you were quarantined and that was the end of it.
You know, why can't we do that? Right? We can
find a way to give you know, people more hair,
give people more testosterone, all these Why can't we find
a way to make people taller? Why can't we can't
we do that? They're long, painful surgeries. No, but I mean,
(28:12):
like just something easy, like I could take a pill
for a while and I can get I can get taller. Well,
I'm not going to the fantastic four. There is that,
nicely done. I was just letting it slide by. Now
Tysher should actually hit on that a little bit earlier.
Think you waited five seven, Max, No, I'm five nine.
(28:34):
I'm five nine. Measure myself now, I'm five nine. Trust me.
At five nine, I haven't at the part of my
life where I'm slouching and I'm stooping yet. No, No,
I'm five nine, So you'd be five nine if you
had a better first step. I'm five knight this dude,
I am five nine. My first It doesn't matter. My
first step isn't anymore? It does, No, doesn't seven and
under have bad first step No. Five seven under bad. Now,
(28:58):
plenty of people if you're under five seven, you're playing sports,
you have to be fast, you have a good first
got explosive quads, So that was get off the blocks fast.
That was my issue in sports was that I was
I wasn't tall and I wasn't fast, Like you can
be a big guy and be slow. No, I was talented,
but I I did as much a fun times as
I could. I mean, I was tout to you kidding.
(29:20):
I was a really good I was you know what
tight shirt? When when I kicked you're gonna go? This
five nine guy just really kicked my ass. I don't understand.
I had all the advantages I was talking about on
um A and it was exciting and just kicked my seven.
I will say this, so I am proud of you
that you did not go to the usual Jason Smith,
(29:40):
I'm gonna key your car. So you have evolved during
your time at home. No, I told I told Frostburg,
what what did I tell Frostburg? The other week when
we were getting somebody on the show and I said, uh,
who are we getting on? And I said uh, And
I said, forget about Keen I'll key in your car.
I'll just blow it up, right. He was like, whoa, whoa, whoa,
(30:02):
I feel oh I remember it was it was after
the Tiger Wood story and we were getting Steve Gregory
from kf I to come on. He broke the story
about Tiger Woods an accident. So he's telling you it's
a real serious day, and you know, I know it.
You know it's a big thing. And I'm just you know,
texting Frostburg. He goes, hey, we've got Steve Gregory coming
up at you know, And I said, okay, great. I said,
if it's Steve Gregory who ran the butt fumble back
for a touchdown, forget about keen your car. I'm just
(30:23):
gonna blow it up. And he broke back to me, whoa, whoa, whoa,
what are you talking about. It's like just making a joke.
It's a it's a you know, it's a tough day.
Everything is you know, they're just making a joke. Is alright, alright, alright,
but talking forget about key in your car, man, if
that happens. But yes, no, I I I I would
kick TI shirts ask because what I would do is
I would be friendly to you, like right away. You
(30:44):
would think, Oh, it's gonna be a nice fine and
then I would hit you over the head with a
chair and you go, oh, man, Jay, that's not cool. Man.
I would just keep hitting you with a chair and
you would go oh, but you'd wind up losing the fun.
You can reach me from down there. Yeah, Oh wow, dude,
I'm gonna walk in when you're sitting at the board
and you go, Jay, what's up my men? And then bam,
it's gonna be a folding chair right through your head. Jay,
I'm sitting down. We still see eye to eye. Come on, Uh,
(31:10):
if you would like to work on the Jason Smith
Show as a technical director, please get your resumes in
or just hit just you know what, just just d
m me your resume at How about a fresco. I
will get that in our boss, Scott Shapiro's hands right away. Uh.
Fox spoints Radio Jason and Mike coming up next. It
looks like the dominoes are starting to fall as far
as where some big free agents and trades could be
(31:32):
made in the NBA. The first guy is available. What's
the best outcome? We'll tell you next on Fox. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show
with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific.
Call one eight eight Farmers, and you could save on
your auto insurance. What else are you gonna do with
your phone in the next few minutes? Look at photos
of things other people eight. Call one eight eight Farmers
(31:54):
to get a quote. We are Farmers, written my Farmers
fine entrance to changes there three upon some avalent every
day Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my
bis friend Mike RM. I'm an ass man live from
the Farmer's Insurance Studios. Call Farmers today for a quote. Uh,
coming up in a few minutes. Uh. You know, it
(32:17):
wouldn't be a great Friday night if we didn't have
a jose Can Saco story coming to your way, which
we do. But fantastic. Yeah, I mean it's weird. I
don't know that it is. Anyway, We're just going to
talk about it. So Blake Griffin is now a free agent.
He gets bought out by the Pistons, and look, he
(32:37):
was making too much money for any team to trade
for him. So now he's gonna be able to sign
with any team he wants to Right now, the Nets
are the leaders in the clubhouse. Couple other teams as well.
Looking into Blake Griffin, who will be able to make
his decision on Sunday once he clears waivers. Now, I
get the love for the Nets. I get wanting to
play there. It's a team you can go in a
championship with. You'll read, you'll reunite with DeAndre Jordan's Uh
(33:02):
you're gonna be able to play a little bit less minutes,
but you'll be able to have a role on the team.
You'll be there for depth, You'll be able to help
with one of the Big three is invariably out like
they are just about every game. Uh So I get that,
But man, I'll tell you what. If I'm Blake Griffin,
the Lakers is where I want to go because even
though you can go and win a championship there, you
(33:25):
could do the same thing with the Lakers and you'll
play a little bit more of a role at this point. Look,
he's a point forward, right, He's not somebody that's gonna
be the guy he was from last year to this year.
He's taken a big downtick. You know, the last time
Blake Griffin dunk storyline is just incredible, you know, being
two years and counting now. Um, but if he goes
to the the Lakers, he will play a little bit bigger role.
(33:47):
He will be a little bit more relied upon and
play a little bit more minutes and they will need
him to score a bit because the Lakers are gonna
have trouble in the front court now with you know,
Anthony Davis, you know, still being out and being able
to get enough offs out of it, which they're not
getting anything out of their front court. Plus you throw back.
You come back to l A a city where you
thrived and and which was great for you. And oh,
(34:08):
by the way, you get to stick it to the
Clippers who traded you away a few years ago. Uh yeah,
that's right. I'll sign me up to go to the
Lakers because you can live and be this, you know,
and and and live with revenge for a short period
of time. As an athlete. You can't make it sustain
you for two or three seasons, but for thirty games
in the playoffs, Yeah, you'll get a motivated Blake Griffin.
That's the best fit for Blake Griffin is the Lakers,
(34:31):
not the Nets. Yeah. I think that's the big push
the the last thing you said there, Uh, the I
get to come back to l a the conquering hero
and vanquished the the Clippers who decided that Lob City
didn't work and catched you out, remember and sent you
to Detroit. Sorry, I know you vacation there, but sent
(34:51):
you to Detroit where you spent the last three plus
years of your career. And while you're not the same guy,
you're a decent playmaker about what nearly for assists per game.
So Lebron James can steal a couple extra minutes maybe
on the on the bench, especially as you get into
the playoffs where you're gonna need those, you know, heavy
stress minutes down the stretch, that you'll be able to
(35:15):
give him a breather. And I'm not convinced that you're
gonna see Anthony Davis as quickly as some some others,
which means let's let's bring all hands on deck. If
he's really willing to commit to a low pay rate,
I think it's a win Twitter, And how about a
fresca Mike gets swollen dome again, he can't make us
in before Sunday. But while he will have a good
(35:37):
role with both teams. He could do bigger things with
the Lakers. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox Of
the Phone Number, eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, Boy,
do we have a reason coming up why Russell Wilson's
gonna get traded? But we also have jose Can Saco
trending after saying something on Twitter that we just have
to get to. That's next on Fox
