pointing as many fingers as we want to at any quarterbacks,

(00:52):
any coaches we want. We are not the Chicago Bears.
We will point fingers wherever we want, and if you
don't like it, that's tough.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
On a pointing to you, Mike car that is on you.
If you don't like it.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
You were supposed to bring three cokes and a bag
of chicken. You brought nothing. You were supposed to bring
three cokes in a bag of chicken. You that's your
line from the other night. I'm bringing three cokes and
a bag of chicken Thursday night. You came in say
that there's no chicken and there's no cokes. I had
to go buy three cokes at the liquor store.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Did you buy one for me? No, because you didn't
bring any chicken.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
You brought nothing. No, I didn't got nothing to the table.
You said, you said, I'm gonna bring hey Thursday night.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yeah, yeah, the game.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Yeah, I'm gonna bring in a bag of chicken and
three cokes. Okay, great, I don't remember. I don't remember
that you said they having to do with Thursday night.
Hi shirt, can find it on you can find it.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
You said it.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
We play in the drop of you saying three cokes
and a bag of chicken you're supposed to bring?

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Jason, you think we were rolling?

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Of course, Well, I know it's probably depleted her system.
Now it's been purged from the system. I think Max
Munsey's home run last night has been purche mars.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Look, it was a fun day once again doing Thursday,
I do a couple of radio things, you know, promoting
the Iywatcher Flex podcast and of course our show here
on Fox Sports Radio. Uh, and the Bears being the
big topic of it all, and everybody's like, so your
hometown is burning, and I go, well, yeah, I mean

(02:11):
we played the entirety of the clip yesterday. I mean
a lot was made of Oh it was taking out
of context, like no, no, no, he was very clear coaching
and trying to process said coaching. It wasn't just the
coaching's bad. It's I'm having trouble processing what they're doing.
Like we did that. It wasn't a no, my coach sucks,
like at no point.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Was that it was. I don't know, but he didn't
leave it at that. What's my point? Right, Like he
explained where it's a lot of terminology. It's a lot
of it is. It's a lot of that out man.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
It's and then now today you get that clip, you know,
miked up and guys, uh, and you know they're not
using you right in the game, guys talking to DJ Moore,
he goes, yeah, tell me about it, beal Yeah. No. Meanwhile,
someone's over there with a fiddle as everything burns, and
they still say, well, we can't. We're not gonna tell
you anything about the Williams situation. Like the field stuff

(03:05):
is interesting only to a point. The rest of it
is all the unknown about the defensive coordinator who leaves
and nobody says goodbye. He resigns, and I was like, yeah,
ce in hell, you know not we witch you well
because of your health reasons. So yeah, that's where we're at.
And now we've got Thursday night football and the New
York Football Giants trying to play out for their backers.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
I e you, my giant. I'm the only one in
the country that said the Giants would cover. I said
I was getting eleven last night, and right now I'm
just covering. It's seventeen six as the Giants just start
the third quarter. They start the third quarter with a
great defensive stand and then the Niners punt. The Giants
fumble the punt. However, there was a little bit of

(03:49):
interference on the forty nine ers, So the Giants are
gonna take over the foot with the football in forty
nine ers territory down seventeen to six. And look, because
I told you how this was going to go last night,
right what we've seen. We'll get to brock Purty in
a second, because I got to scratch my head about
what's being said about brock Purty so far was I
told you last night? Why am I the only one
taking the Giants number one? You gotta remember, Thursday night

(04:12):
football is sloppy. It's always sloppy. Nobody plays great on
Thursday night. It's a short week. You can't do so much,
especially when you're playing a different opponent that you don't
know as well. The game is sloppy. When you get
the intradivisional games, you know your opponent pretty well. We
could maybe there's a little bit more. You're talking about
NFC East, NFC West, Giants the Niners. It's a big,

(04:32):
high profile game, but we knew it was going to
be sloppy. The other thing was the Giants game plan
was going to be keep it close. Let Daniel Jones
start making some plays with his legs. Now the Giants
defense is keeping it close. They had three or four
opportunities to make this an even closer game, but they
couldn't come up with a ball that rock Perty was
going to give them. But Darren Waller, Right, yeah, Darren

(04:53):
Waller with you know, if he caught that ball. It's
a seventeen thirteen game. So the Giants are playing well.
I am really surprised though, that they are not letting
Daniel Jones get out in the open some more design
runs and plays room because they can't run the football.
I mean, you're talking about Matt Brido, who is everybody's darling.
As three carries for nine yards, we.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Look from a fantasy perspective, it became the well, who's
going to get an opportunity? So he became the guy.
But they've had opportunities a lot of third lungs that
they weren't able to get off the field. And then
you have to me, what is one of the worst calls?
You know, we can complain and we talked about it
a lot last week. The fumbling out of the end
zone and we could fight about that to one blue

(05:34):
in the face. The defender landed with some of his
body weight on the quarterback call is forever the bane
of my existence. Like the ghost runner in baseball, you
will never get me on board with either of those.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
I hit a guy, What am I supposed to do?

Speaker 4 (05:49):
Flying shoulder tackle like I'm in the WWE and go
flying off to the other side of the ring. Oh
my god, he hits him with the big hammer.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
The thing is you can owe and I and this
is what because it drives me crazy too, because again
I had to watch the Jets get an apology yesterday
because the biggest penalty of the game on Sunday that
flipped the game. I mean, look, would the Jets have
won the game? Well, instead of going in down eighteen
ten at halftime, it probably would have been a ten
to ten tie, right, that would have been the game.
But the Jay they call a roughing penalty on one

(06:18):
of the Jets players on John Franklin Myers, Oh, we
tackled the quarterback too low. Okay, we need to make
sure that that's called. And the NFL said, oh hey, sorry,
we screwed that up.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
Yeah, here's your letter on official NFL letter head.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
And I hate your record and I hate this because
if your idea and your aim ultimate aim is to
protect the quarterback, right, those are plays that do not
need to be adjudicated like that in that moment. They
do not need to be That's a play where hey,
we can look at all the questionable plays in the

(06:52):
game after and go, that's an illegal hit. That's a
fine for that player, right that if you want to
do you really want to do it, you want to
stop a guy. Hey, that's a fine for that player.
And it's you know, twenty five grand whatever it was
ken at the quarterback that way. Now, if you see
a helmet to helmet, you see something that's obviously yes,
you can call that. But a play like that where it's, oh,
the defender falls on the quarterback and you need to

(07:13):
look at it and go, did he have the ability
to get away? Did he fall him on purpose? Was
this something where we just fell? Was this natural physics?
Or was this Hey, he was blocked into the quarterback
where he's pushed down. Of course he tackled the guy,
but you know below below the waist. Those are things
You do not need to look at it and say
I need to throw that flag at this moment, because
you're your aim is to keep the quarterbacks healthy. And

(07:34):
if you find it and you look at it in
the days after, then you can easily say, hey, look
we found this, this this this it was illegal and
here's a fine, and okay, all right, and it's much
less controversial, and you're not you're not taking wins away
from teams. You're not doing that more. I don't know
why they don't do it that way, but the referees

(07:54):
feel the need. I gotta throw the flag on this,
and it's why, you know, that's something we take care
of that next week.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Take care of that.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
It's always easier to to what to ask for forgiveness
and to ask for from sure, So if you're saying, hey,
after this, all right, at the end, you're asking for
you're asking for forgiven. All right, Hey, wait a minute,
you did this, you hit him, here's your penalty, rather
than right in the moment, Oh no, no, we got
to throw the flag. I hate I always hated that.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
Yeah, it's letter, spirit of the law, down distance, all
of those things that come into play. And when when
you look at that particular play, I mean that led
to a McCaffrey touchdown. Fantasy owners celebrated, But there was
going to be a field goal, right, it was going
to be a field goal attempt or a fourth down

(08:39):
and short. All right, let's see if they bring the
offense back out instead. You change the game. Now that
the Giants do get a field goal going into half.
It all and that's all fine and good, but you know,
when you look at it, you're you're changing the complexion
of a game on something that it's not. He didn't
Charles Martin the guy there you go to owing our

(09:00):
football Histori.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Throw a guy down. This was Hey, I'm a three
hundred pound man.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
I can only roll my body away from the guys
so much as I try to bring him down.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Twitter it out about a fresca.

that Matt Brita Giants can't run the football, blah blah,

(09:36):
don't look now, but we got a game in San Francisco.
The Giants get in the end zone, A questionable pass
interference call puts the Giants on the eleven and Matt
Brida with a down hill physical run, you're a ven
yards out pulling a couple of guys into the end
Matt Brida running like it's twenty twenty.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Uh, he pulls a couple of guys into.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
The end zone with him. The Giants go for two
and Daniel Jones is sacked. But it is now a
seventeen to twelve game in the middle of the third quarter,
and suddenly, hey, look who's covering.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
But we were just talking about the call of the
weight of a defender on the quarterback, that pass interference call,
to say that that was suspect.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
That best is being kind right where the balls where
the defenders going.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
The great receiver kind of pushes him by him like
all of that. But it sets up the first in goal,
you know, inside the ten, and there you go your
guy Brita with the eight yard touchdown run, making it
a game my giants.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
It's a win that helps.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
Him my long term cause I just didn't think you'd
get it tonight.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Well we still have it. But here's where we are
right now, because you're twelve midway through the third.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Yeah, because you and I were talking about a little
before we went on air of you know, Thursdays making
for Strange Bedfellows and also teams trying to figure out
where they are short and long term. For the forty
nine ers, how much were you going to see Elijah
Mitchell with Brandon ayuk out? How much the offense would
change complexion moving forward at least for this game on

(11:17):
the short week. And for the Giants, could they carry
any kind of momentum after that dramatic comeback against well,
let's call them plucky because they've come out to play.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Don't call them plucky. They don't know what that means.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
Okay, fair point, all right, but the Cardinals have given
you two good efforts. Yeah right, both losses as expected,
but you're at least having to work to beat them.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Hey, guys, just want to say another great noble effort. Right,
we didn't win, but hey, what's that poster up there?
It's like a major league says moral victory up there,
coach instead of major league. When they took they took
a piece off for the oh, the puzzle. Yeah, what
they do is every time they lose, they take a
piece off. At a review, Caleb Williams in a in
a Giant Cardinals jersey. You don't know mosaic of Caleb Williams.

(12:05):
We take we take another piece off the Caleb Williams puzzle.
That's another another fourteen more losses and hell, we got it.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
And then they're going off and then it's got a
picture of the Bear's logo.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
It's like, what's that?

Speaker 5 (12:18):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (12:18):
So this is where we are right now, my giants.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
I'm telling you seventeen twelve giants, I told you, I
told you I'm a genius.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Genius.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Uh, seventeen twelve, ten minutes to go in the third
quarter on Thursday night football off. More on this game,
uh coming up next because we got more stuff on
the Bears. What happened today with them is insane. We
have a huge injury for the Dallas Cowboys to break down.
But let me let me, let me, let me, let
me just say this, let me just say this, let
me just let me, let me just say this.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
The Jots suck. Stop.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
Wow, you just jumped. I mean, he had a whole
monologue in music what bed.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
Just sorry, I took the words out of your mouth. Sorry,
just stop for for a second, just for a second.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
The Giants do lose, their season goes down the tubes.
Maybe the Jets get Daniel Jones.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
I'm saying maybe I have to say. You know, I'm
that maybe maybe maybe whant to get out of the
forty million dollars you do. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Maybe maybe I'm gonna link I'm gonna link every quarterback
to the Jets. Now you are trying in the next
month and a half every quarterback. Every time a quarterback
throws an incomplete pass, I'm gonna link him to the Jets. Oh,
that's all he missed. That receiver was wide up. You
know the Jets could trade for him in about three
or four weeks. You know, a little gonna work on
his mechanics hack. It can work, wonders, Jason, your desperation

(13:32):
is unmatched.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Well, but you know I lost Rogers after four plays.

Speaker 5 (13:37):
Man.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Yeah, seventy five seconds.

Speaker 4 (13:39):
He's been yelling, keep hope alive in here seventy five seconds.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
Can I ask you a question? Uh, eleanor Roosevelt? No?
Do I really look like Brian Dable.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
There's a lot of twittering in the hallway talk. You
know that my thermometer had might rival here.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know you need you need to
wear like the the coach what he wears, the like
the poncho like the coaches, like a short sleeve windbreaker,
the parachute. Yeah, if you were the parachute, yeah, yeah,
you'd be very Brian dab Les.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, you're supposed to say.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
You got to put on a bunch of weight too,
and you gotta shave your head.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Well, the camera adds ten or seventy pounds, so I
mean you're fine with how many cameras are on here, okay,
but you put on you put on the poncho, the
short sleeve pancho.

Speaker 6 (14:29):
Yeah, yeah, sure, get the beard, the Hogan beard going yeah,
be's upset as you get at times over things.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
Yeah yeah, I don't get that. Your face gets really red,
was it really?

Speaker 1 (14:40):
You get really, no, dude, you get Yeah, So I.

Speaker 6 (14:46):
Have to start wearing makeup, especially when you drink those
caffeine drinks that Jason, Well.

Speaker 4 (14:50):
I thought that was gonna kill me if I thought
my chest was gonna exploit what I what.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
I When I know Harmon's mad, his face gets really ready.
But you know it's not my point, jerk, And you
know that like like what, I being facetious about things
and you just get mad because I'm.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
I'm trying to make a point. I waited my turn.
What I meant. That's not what I meant. You know that, No,
I don't know that.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
Now.

Speaker 6 (15:10):
You know that when his sentences that Jason start with,
I'll scissor kick you.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
I'll scissor kick you in the back of the head,
old man. Oh, that's what I know. And you throw
your pen down. You're a big I don't know if
you know this, but you're a big punch thrower.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
Like I know that. When that's when you're met. You
throw your pen down. Sometimes it bounces, sometimes it doesn't.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
I've always been fearful.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Of having too much force, of throwing it through the
glass like it was a three.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
D movie into the update studio. So I just throw
it down.

Speaker 6 (15:38):
You can always go Howie Long style and put it
through your fingers and then job Jason try to jam him.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
No, that could work.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Allegedly that Jay Lazer said allegedly No actually said yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
Brian Dable a.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
Very upset Brian Gable Giants fans one hundred and fifty
total yards for the Giants tonight as they fall thirty
to twelve.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
Look, we're gonna hear from him coming up in a
few minutes. Again. No more disappointing head coach first three
weeks of the season than Brian Dable.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
Tonight, Joe brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes
bundling easy and affordable. Get a multi policy discount by
combining your motorcycle, RV, boat, ATV and more all your
protection in one plays Bundle and safe At Progressive dot Com,
it was I had a couple of weeks ago we
started talking about clarity in Major League Baseball where the

(16:33):
nationally Playoff looks like, if it's not the Dodgers and
the Braves in the NLCS, then something's wrong.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
Right, That's where that's where we're at. You know, we
took it to the next level.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
Hey, if it's not the Braves in the World Series
and winning it, then something's wrong. This is their year.
But we started NLCS Braves. If it's not Braves Dodgers,
then something is wrong. And after tonight again a very
workmanlike victory for the forty nine on a short week,
they score thirty points.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
The offense is good, the defense is even better.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
I'll say this, and it's a couple of weeks after
we made our predictions for the season, and who's gonna
go to the NFC Championship Game right now? If it's
not Cowboys forty nine ers in the NFC Title game,
something's wrong. Like that's the level above everybody else that
both of these teams are playing at right now. And
I know the Cowboys have to survive without Travon Diggs,

(17:27):
but this is a really talented Cowboys team and we
talked about it last week after the Jets game. This
is a team that has what I have never seen
in the Dak Prescott era. They are motivated, They are
dialed in and they want to and their focus they
know this is their year. They came into the season
like a house of fire. And then Dak Prescott said, oh,
people are saying I didn't do enough in that first game. Okay,

(17:49):
here's my best first half as a Dallas Cowboy against
the Jets. You think that they seem motivated in a
way I have not seen in the Dak Prescott era.
And when you finally put that motivation with all that talent,
this is what you get. Now you have the forty
nine ers who are the most talented team right now,
top to bottom. The Eagles may have the best roster,

(18:11):
but what the Niners put out there offensively and defensively,
the Eagles have more problems than the Niners.

Speaker 4 (18:17):
So they're by far a much. They're a work in progress, right,
they're the paint by numbers. You're about halfway through, and
now you're wondering which shade of yellow you're supposed to use,
because the passing game is not outside of a couple
of big plays a Devonte Smith. This last game, it
didn't work. And rushing wise, I'm not banking on DeAndre

(18:38):
Swift to give me twenty five carries.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
No great game, Yeah, don't get me wrong.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
Yeah, yep, you know there's still a lot to be done,
the loss of Stike and still being felt. But succeed
and proceed right, learn on the fly, get the wins
along the way. But those are the three teams that
are hands down, head and shoulders above everybody else. And
when we made our picks right, the Giants I thought
would be good enough to hang around. And this is
where we also get into a little bit of the

(19:02):
All right, let's make sure we uh make our feet
are solid on the ground. As we talk about this,
because you can only beat who's on the schedule. But
this is like beating a couple of preseason top twenty
five teams for the Cowboys and recognizing that midway through
the season they're just not good. Right, the Giants of
the Jets, by mid season, we might be just going, Wow,

(19:25):
those they're they're just terrible, you know, so exactly, But
you beat and you bludgeon them.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
But you're talking about a team that scored the most
points in the NFL allowed the least points in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
Everything is fine. I'm dismissing it categorically. I'm just saying
at some point we're gonna get a fair fight.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
Yeah, but as it were.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
But the way they have come in this is this
has not been and it's still Dallas team. Meant, I know,
this has not been a Dallas team mentally that I
that I'm familiar with. It's always been always Dak enough.
What kind of identity do we have We're not sure.
But when you started hearing the stories about how going
back to the Giants game week one, Micah Parsons and

(20:06):
Digs and everybody say, we couldn't wait ta get on
the plane. We couldn't wait to go play this game.
I've not heard that from the Cowboys, not heard that
in the last seven years, not heard that. Now you're
getting it. And then and I was, okay, let's see
if they come out flat for the Jets. Guess what
didn't come out flat for the Jets.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
They came out. So we're gonna play downhill on you guys.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
And we're not gonna throw one ball at Sauce Gardener
because we don't have to.

Speaker 4 (20:25):
And we're gonna know what we're game a hug. Right,
he threw one ball at him, almost got picked. Never, No,
I'm not.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Going over there again. Its good. Where is your chance
on the side of the field. Side of the field,
we're gonna run the ball. And then the other side
of the mill you got nothing.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
So that that's different from any Cowboys team I've seen.
And this forty nine Ers team making it as far
as you go, except it used to be you know,
a long time ago. You make it to the conference
championship game, you lose, that's when you pay your dues
in the next year. Hey, you take your bit of a stress. Sure, Uh,
that usually doesn't happen anymore. Now, you know, every year
is different. Every year is more of a grind. If

(21:01):
you make it to a conference championship game one year,
it's because you're healthy. It's because things have worked out
for you and you get to bounce the next year things, right, Yeah,
just ask the Bengals.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
Right, Look where the Bengals are right now? Hey, it's
not working.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
Out for it well, but the injury thing comes up
fast at you. Yeah, right, I mean where you can
go through fifteen? Remember that Derek Carr, the famous line
that we have all the time.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
It's broke. It's broke. Raiders have lost.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
Nobody to injury the entire year, and then your quarterback
goes down.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 4 (21:30):
That's a great year of there. But I mean that's
how fast things turn. In the NFL. You're having a
charmed year until you're not.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
But the Niners, they are playing like this is unfinished business.
And we are in week two of the season like
we're down the stretching ready.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
For the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
The only thing you worry about teams playing this well
this early is can they keep the emotion going?

Speaker 3 (21:51):
Right?

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Are the Cowboys? Can they keep this going all the
way through the season because it's so early. The same
thing with the forty nine.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
Forty nine ers, you're also talking a lot histories of
health for some of their key players.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Samuel going to stay healthy. Brandon Ayuk has already dinged up.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
He didn't play.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
Mcaffrey's history history. Like a lot of your key parts
on both sides of the ball have missed significant time
due to injuries. So it's the all right, can you
navigate a season fully?

Speaker 1 (22:20):
And in two weeks we get the game, we get
Super Bowl and a half because we get Cowboys Niners
in San Francisco to a couple weeks on Sunday Night Football. Uh,
that's gonna be the highest rated game of the season
on TV without without a doubt, Niners Cowboys Nay Night Football,
highest rated game, especially with both teams playing as highly
at a high level as they.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Are right now.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
But those are those are worries that this is the NFL.
It's not the worry I have in college football Colorado,
Deon sanders Go.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
These are kids.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
You're trying to keep it a level of eleven, and
you can't do that all season long.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
This is the NFL.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
So my worry is not that big a deal. You get,
you get lulls and you deal with them. But right now,
these teams have no problems. They have absolutely no problems.
Right We talked about the Cowboys and the and the
forty and the Dolphins being the best two teams in
the NFL last night, and you know the Dolphins in
the AFC forty nine ers right now, I would have
to say watching them play on a Thursday night winning

(23:11):
like this, because usually games don't go like this on
a Thursday night without their best receiver on a short
week when games are usually sloppy. To win like this,
that's a big deal. That's an eye opener saying, hey,
we're locked in and dialed in right now.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
Yeah, take care of business at home. Short week.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
You do have a wounded opponent coming in right who
has struggled through two weeks and no barklay two linemen down,
including Andrew Thomas. You know what, was he a number
three overall pick or whatever a couple of years ago.
So you've got all that, and so yeah, you went
and took care of business like this. These are the
games that you fear a bit of a letdown in

(23:50):
Thursday nights. Sometimes the wild card and who knows, But
for giant defender actually coming down with one of the
would be interceptions, Trent Williams actually getting kicked out of
the game before halftime when it was still close, is
that different?

Speaker 3 (24:08):
Right?

Speaker 4 (24:08):
If he gets thrown out, does the game change at all?
Because you know, if the Giants are gonna get a
letter of apology, just like your Jets did related to
a penalty that shouldn't have been in one case, a
penalty that shouldn't have been called. In this case, a
guy who should have been thrown out of a game.
You know, it's funny you say that because this game
looked a lot like the Jets Cowboys on Sunday, where, hey,

(24:30):
you can see the Giants may have a little bit
going on here. They're keeping the game close, their defense
is playing okay, they're forcing the forty nine ers to
kick field goals. But in the end, this is a
Niners team that was playing downhill and they won, And yeah,
that would have been a big deal. And I hate
the fact that Jets get that phone.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
Hey, sorry, guys on that that big play on Sunday
that turned the game into the Cowboys favorite.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
Yes, sorry, we blew that. Yeah, no, no, no, but it's
still look.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
Eighteen instead of the Jets losing eighteen ten at halftime,
that's a ten to ten game at halftime, and they
still would have got in second much different second half.
You go to the locker room, they weren't winning the game.
Things can be different, Things can be different, No way, Yeah,
it could be a different game differently.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
It's just all the you know, you have the adjudication
of these sequences, right, because we saw it with the
the Giants called for the oh the weight landed on
the quarterback rule, giving the first in goal. McCaffrey owners
celebrate because you get a touchdown out of it, but
that would have they would have had to kick a
field goal, right, So, I mean you've changed.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
The game fundamentally in that moment.

Speaker 4 (25:38):
And then before the end of the half you have
the you know, the Williams punch right after that that
he doesn't get thrown out. Does it change anything materially?
Maybe maybe not In an alternate universe, maybe we can
go watch that like we're in the Marvel universe. But
here we are thirty to twelve. Succeed and proceed and
now you've got a few extra days off for the giants.

(26:00):
They're licking their wounds and hopefully, uh, there's a bunch
of hyperbaric chambers and and all sorts of therapies to
get guys healthy and right so they can actually show
some some semblance of the team that was anticipated prior
to the season.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
I'll tell you, we could be like four days away
from the football season in New York City being canceled.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
We're done next.

Speaker 4 (26:20):
Year, We're done, already talking about the Knicks and looking
forward to spring training and the next spending spree by toey.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
Yeah, did you see did you see the.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
Story that now like like uh, the two big sports
stations in New York, like both could be going away
next year, like ESPN has sold theirs. And then when
that happened, Michael Kay said, Oh, the fan's gonna be
out of.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Business, bankrupt. Yeah, we're done, We're done. Everybody's gonna take
over New York. Come on, now, there's no football anymore.
Nobody cares a team.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
Stink.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
It's all mixed all the time, Knicks, Knicks, Nicks, Knicks,
Knicks Nicks Nick.

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Your owner doesn't even know how he owns.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
The team, No he does, no, no, no, he knows
how he owns the team, He just doesn't like owning
the team.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
Get it right, Get it right. If you're to criticize
James owns them like he doesn't like owning that, well,
that's true too.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
From Captain Andrew Luck to General Jay Glazer NFL on
Fox Insider, joining us right now on the hotline, Jay,
what's happening?

Speaker 5 (27:24):
Buddy and Table and I both share the same sexy,
so don't we?

Speaker 3 (27:29):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (27:30):
Does your head get really red when you're mad about
a call that going to get and goes against you?

Speaker 5 (27:36):
It's like looking in the mirror, except though no, these
days I don't want to be in that mirror. Yeah
that's a little rough.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
Hey, also really rough for the Giants, man, I mean,
is this just Hey, the Cowboys are great and the
forty nine ers are great or they got problems?

Speaker 5 (27:51):
You know? Look, I think they have a great coaching
staff over there. I do think they'll work it out.
But yeah, they got issues right now. It's clearity of
issues but look, there's a lot of teams are kind
of have issues that come out of the gates. I've
always told everybody, like last week, right, I was like,
let's not overreact, Let's not overreact. Was like week twelve,
because it really looked if you looked at the forty
nine ers last year, he would have said they're done.

(28:13):
Teams off oh Man. In fact, they're down to the
mister irrelevant, they're over and they killed And I'm brock
Pirty who was again fanaut can I just you know,
he was more than they ever could have dreamed of.
But they jelled at the right time. Same thing here,
like there's gonna be teams that look really strong early on,
they're gonna fade out, people get their numbers. I just

(28:35):
think the Giants, they're so well coached that they'll get themselves.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Through this the long run.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
Yeah, I look, I picked them to make a big run.
George Las Vegas, Jay, So I hope you're right. But
when you look at in this game, banged up on
the other side San Francisco clicking no iyuk but doesn't matter,
yack the tail of the tape and just playing bullyball.

Speaker 5 (28:58):
Man, who do you stop over there, Like if you're
gonna try and take away the capture on the ground,
the Kittle's gonna get you like he did to that.
Like so just you know, there's so many weapons. That's
such a picture poison offense. And look, brock Perty you know,
when I was out there with the camp, you know,
and had dinner with Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch, He's like, man,
he just gets me. He understands me, He's got it right.

(29:19):
He's just and you sit there and go, how could
this guy be the last pick of the draft. There's
so many outside elements when a player gets drafted by
a team, oh, whether they're gonna succeed or not. And
it just so happens where a lot of guys don't
click with a guy like Kyla Shanahan. When you do
click with him, like Matt Ryandon Atlanta that year and

(29:41):
like brought Perdy does year, you do special things. Kyle Man,
Kyle different, He's special. He is special.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
Jay and Jay am I crazy thing?

Speaker 1 (29:49):
I know they lost Ravon Diggs today and we'll get
to that in a second, but am i ah man?

Speaker 3 (29:53):
Am I crazy?

Speaker 1 (29:54):
The NFC The Road to the Super Bowl we're gonna
wind up with Cowboys forty nine ers the NFC title game.

Speaker 3 (29:59):
They both look at you, guys.

Speaker 5 (30:01):
I don't know, because I know, hey, look you have bigs.
You went down to that you could be one more
injury away from things to on an attack. I don't know.
I really like the NFL is about who is healthiest
last and who gets hot the latest. That's what it's about.
But it's the greatest reality show in the world. So
every single week we think it's a boom er bust

(30:22):
and it's just how it is. That's the reality of this.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
So as we get the role into week three.

Speaker 5 (30:29):
The Cowboy's playing great.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
Yes, well now they get to play someone not from
New York and New Jersey.

Speaker 5 (30:38):
And here I have some New York and New Jersey.
But the you know, I tell you what's really impressive too.
All you heard about was Dak prescott an interceptions. That's
all you heard about. And a lot of times you
end up putting that in universe more right, And so
they had so much pressure and that's all you heard about.
It's all you heard about. He's just not doing it.

(31:00):
Mike McCarthy's really done a great job over there. Calling plays,
and I think simplifying it for him and using the
heck of Tony Pollard, which they should have been doing
for years.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
Jay Glazer our guests right now, NFL on Fox. The
Jason Smiths are with Mike Carmon live from the tire
rack dot Com studios. All right, Jay, let's get to
the incredible drama of the last couple of days, and
that's justin Fields and the Bears.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
He's not happy with the coaching.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
GM Ryan Pohl said today, Hey, you know he's not
a finger pointer justin fields. What do you take away
from what you've seen and heard the last couple of days.

Speaker 5 (31:32):
Yeah, it hasn't been good, and you know it. And
you know out there in Chicago things are amplified a lot,
and you know, I think that you know sometimes, look,
I think last year he had such a you know,
a breakout year, but you saw some really breakout skills.
So you're thinking, well, let's really build upon that and

(31:53):
build upon that and build upon that. And sometimes you
do throw too much at somebody think he could do it.
But there's also Look, here's the thing about the NFL,
Like you know, they do at least tonser forty our
dash right, and if a guy runs at four to three,
but he has to think for like a second more,
all of a sudden's running four eight. It was totally different.

(32:16):
And like and I told you guys, like last week
the Giants in two thousand and seven when they won
the Super Bowl, and I keep using this over and
over and over, and I'll continue to use it. But
the first two games of that season, they gave up
their defense on the Stu Sagnola gave up I think
forty eight forty nine points in the first two games.
And it wasn't until like stray him. Jesse Arms says, said, guys,

(32:39):
you know, we've got to stop thinking out of here.
We've got to go. We It's like we think, we
know we're supposed to do here, but if we think
about it, it's going to slow us down enough where
they're gonna get good it like they did for forty
forty nine points. You just gotta sometimes just go. And
that's I'd been with. Justin Field was trying to say,
it's like, Okay, they gave me all this and I'm

(32:59):
thinking about it too much, And it looked like he
was saying, they're making me think about it too much
when it does ultimately fall on him.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
Jeff Got asked the obvious.

Speaker 5 (33:08):
I don't know if he's I don't. But here's the
thing too, Barry got two number one picks, you know,
first rounders. I don't. Going in the season, everybody was
really really excited, and I remember going to camp said, hey,
you guys got to kind of temper this. You're the
first pick them in draft and you've made some great trade.
But it doesn't just get turned around like that. It

(33:28):
needs to be tempered. And even with that, I don't
think they knew if Justin Kilder is their guy or not.
But that's what That's another reason they went up and
they they you know, loaded up with this ammunition. You know,
Ryan Poles wasn't the one who drafted.

Speaker 4 (33:41):
Them, right, certainly different regime.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
Ryan Bowles also facing the other part of things.

Speaker 4 (33:47):
Jay, you're an information man unparalleled in our world, and
as a former South Side Chicago resident, what the hell's
going on with the defensive coordinator?

Speaker 3 (33:56):
Can you shed any light on it? In that time?

Speaker 5 (34:00):
I'm gonna let him answer that one. Those are those
are personal things that in a man's life. I'm gonna
let him answer that one.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Jake Laser with us here, Jason Smith, Mike Harmon Live
the tyrec dot Com Studios.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
Jay, you could be a politician with an m story
that that's pretty good?

Speaker 5 (34:14):
You like that, right?

Speaker 3 (34:15):
Like I got nothing, I'm moving on.

Speaker 5 (34:17):
Yeah, but you know what I actually I don't talk
about another man's business, like off the field type business.
You know. I'm gonna let him answer that one.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
All right.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
So obviously, Hey, some of the stuff you got going
on September suicide Prevention month. You had a special guest
on the Unbreakable podcast. Tell us a bit about it.

Speaker 5 (34:34):
Yeah, with you know, Satelline is our is our you know,
our title sponsor, and it's so great because we have
a bunch of celebrities on. But our whole thing also
is to really help people with this and to have
an expert on like we have this week, to really
help us through Like a lot of us don't know
what happens, you know, I think I don't know if
I told you guys or not, but I had a
friend of mine, but I did put them the podcasts

(34:55):
this week. A friend of mine took his life this
past weekend and it was and I'm trying to and
I'm trying to villainize suicide. So I'm I'm mad at him.
I'm pissed, and people go, oh, you can't be pissed.
It's a disease. I said, I can, because it's it's
and like when I do a lot of the work
with m v P, I'm like, man, it's it's this

(35:15):
power suggestions if with with today's day and age, with
social media, when you know it's not just people like
me who have depression anxiety who go through stuff like
social media makes us all take our lives suck all
of a sudden, like somebody takes her lives and you're
seeing all his love for someone like, oh my gosh,
this guy like my friend Billy, A lot of love

(35:36):
for Billy. I got really concerned for a lot of
Billy's friends and my friends and a lot of us
around him, and one of my my head, but one
of my trying to figure out I can say this
very very close friend of mine who is associated ability,
was socially out there this weekend and can't go. Billy
took his life and now my friends beating up on

(35:57):
himself and that's not fair. It has nothing with my
friend like it's just not fair. So I am trying
to villainize suicide. So it can't be an option. Weren't
a lot of pain, but taking our lives can't be
the option where we will put that pain on our
kids and our wives and husbands and parents. And I
always say, like, you never know what lies around next Tuesday.

(36:20):
You never know when you're gonna be one that just
one away once something away from your life turning around,
or from you like, look, I'm fifty three, I finally
fell in love with Rosie. I didn't know where's ever
going to happen. And I always sabotage that. It's like,
you just don't know, So look, it's it's it's obviously

(36:40):
a hard thing to walk down. And when people ask, well,
what do we do with somebody suicidal? That's why I
don't get them from Tarrell on the street because I
don't know the anser. I'm not a therapist. I don't
know how to handle it. A lot of times I
just know that, man, when somebody does take their own lives,
I kind of want. And when it happens with our crew,
with MVP, with pythoning about some players warring, everybody else

(37:00):
listens to be the power of suggestion, because you're going
to see how everybody is. You know, have so much
compassion for our friend and our brother or sister took
their lives, and you're gonna go, well, shoot, I'm not
happy with my life right now. Maybe this can be
an option for me. No, it's not an option to you.
It may not be an option. Our first Our lives

(37:21):
are about our choices. Our first choice has to be
life and death. We've got to choose life. We've got
to choose life.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
Check out the latest podcast, The Latest Unbreakable, a mental
health podcast, incredible guidance doctor Justin Chattery from Carol on
on how to approach a loved one you fear is suicidal.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
Jays always, thank you so much, great so sorry for
your loss. All our best thoughts with you and and everybody.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
We'll we'll talk to you man, and you have a
great week, as great week as you can.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
Keep fighting a good fight.
