The guys explain why the Texans need to keep Patrick Mahomes off the field if they want to win in Kansas City and how Russell Wilson needs to get everyone involved for the Seahawks to have a chance against the Packers. don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. Locked and Lottle and
excited to be with you. Big Divisional round of the
National Football League Playoffs. Two games in the books, one
that might have caught you by surprise, not if you

(01:29):
listen to either of us. But we'll get into that
as we roll. San Francisco and the Tennessee Titans advanced
two more games later on to night. All right, this afternoon,
this evening. But it south better when you put it
in the big lights, the bright lights up, Prime time
Mike Harmon alongside twelve year NFL VET Super Bowl champion

(01:49):
Will Blackman. Uh. Fun Saturday in the books, Big week
for you, Level one of your testing towards becoming a Somali,
a NFL y guy, being being your next enterprise as
as you build empire, current enterprise right now, current enterprise.
But yes, I passed my Level two, I mean Level

(02:12):
one Somali exam through the Court of Masters. Indeed I
was gonna play out. I didn't know I was gonna interrupt.
Enjoyed it. Yeah, you gotta have that, that that powerful
start to the day. Uh, what was the hardest thing
about the exam? What's what's the what's the one thing

(02:34):
that you had to go in thinking, all right, I
gotta make sure I don't mess this part up. Um.
I actually just winning with an open mind. I had
no idea what was going to happen. Um. But yeah,
I guess the most difficult thing is you have to
know your geography and then from there you get a
lot of information. But yeah, I'm excited. So anybody, what
do you pair with a big Tennessee Titans win man

(02:57):
this one here? Yeah, I have no idea right here?
This this was this was I mean surprising for most
but as you said, not for something. Yeah, I mean
both of us as as I know you were on
with Colin Cowhard and and with the odd couple on Friday,
uh us, Jason Smith and I. As we're picking games,

(03:19):
it's like this one as the week was on, like
you're looking at a double digit spread the whole time.
I'm going this defense can play, they smash you in
the mouth. We saw it against New England, and maybe
people revisit New England a little differently after this one.
But you saw the scheme to get after Lamar Jackson,
to make him uncomfortable, to make things a bit difficult

(03:40):
in the yards are fine. Right, there's another example of
where if you just looked at a box score without
a score of people. Oh, they bludgeoned him, right because
look at all the yardage that Lamar Jackson put up.
But they had a great run game. Of course, once
again Derrick Henry shows up and does Derrick Henry things.
I mean that that all white outfit that he showed

(04:02):
up in, I mean that was it like he was
descended from the clouds. Yeah, ready to play that game,
you know. I I so when I went on the herd,
I actually I favored, Um, I favored Baltimore, but I
I said, if if there is going to be an upset,
this would be the game. And then I was gonna

(04:23):
say the same thing on Twitter, and I was like,
you know what, screwt. I'm just gonna say it, Tennessee's
gonna upset, right. And my whole thing wasn't so much
of scheme and play design. It was just more so
of characteristics. You know, Um, the one thing that Baltimore
has done all year they have played bullyball and just
abused everyone else. You know, everyone's playing this finesse game.

(04:47):
Multiple receivers there for multiple defensive backs. You need linebackers
that could run around and cover. You need safeties that
can go ahead and cover. And it's more about trying
to stop the pass as opposed to stop in the run.
And I've said this before that this Tennessee Titans team
reminds me of my two thousand eleven Giants team got
into the playoffs at nine seven and just just capitalized

(05:11):
and dominated, and I felt like, man, this is this
is the Tennessee Titans is the one team that Baltimore
will not be able to bully and and push around.
And if Baltimore is able to run the football effectively,
you know that's gonna be a problem. You look at
the Cleveland game where Nick Chubb had over a DRS Russian.

(05:31):
You know, they got ahead, Baltimore got behind, and then
Lamar had to start throwing the ball more, and then
you know there's been some turnovers and that that's exactly
what happened yesterday. So you go into the tail of
the tape, right if you if you went and went
deeper box score reading and trying to, you know, scratch
your head as to what you saw nearly double the

(05:51):
first downs for the Ravens five thirty total yards to
three hundred for Tennessee. But the yards per play right
on par one another passing yards didn't need a big
game again from Ryan Tannehill. And when you've got your
man Derrick Henry running for a nine five yards, Uh,
it doesn't much matter. A couple of drop passes, yes,

(06:13):
but big turnovers. I kept hitting the another one right, colleed, Uh,
one one after the next, Uh, you win the turnover battle.
Time of possession was nearly even despite the number of
plays that were run by the Ravens. And again, you
can move the ball between the twenties. You gotta finish
the job. First half, you had to justin tucker Field

(06:37):
goals one that came after a big pass completion that
got them down in the in the red zone. Look
like the safety didn't want to blow them up because
that was a penalty waiting to happen if you'd gotten
there a second early, right, So instead you have this
great catch on the fingertips, you get the tucker Field goal,
and you're you're sitting there at fourteen six and but

(06:58):
still wondering because Tennessee, you know had bludgeoned them to
that point. And I kept pointing out over over the
course of the last few weeks as we see the
shuffling going on here in l A with the ramps,
like wouldn't you like to have re signed Roger Staffeld
at some point in the in the process. But you
know what that that goes into the ether as we
do Lamar Jackson in the post game. You know, normally

(07:20):
we like the Hey, you know we were beaten by
the better team today, not so fast from Baltimore. Could
you just beat our sales? You know? Um? Yeah, well
I had a lot of mistakes and might we have
free turnovers that shoudn't happen, but you know they came
out of play. You know, we just started off slow.
You just gotta do better next time. But moving forward
to get rid of it of all season, and certainly

(07:42):
it lent itself to hot take theater, as you know
will immediately everybody started pouring through their old Lamar Jackson
takes going into the playoffs. Now two years in a
row flame outs, and for this team in particular, you
talked about bullyball. They played from ahead virtually every minute
of this season as well, which means that run game

(08:03):
behind mark Ingram, Gus Edwards go on down the line
and Lamar Jackson. Of course, averaging is eight one per
game during the regular season, you're just running downhill and
you're able as a defense to tee off a little bit,
making things easier on Jimmy Smith, uh And and Humphrey
and all those guys in the defensive backfield. Humphrey was
the one guy to say, look, the story of our

(08:25):
team now is that we choke in the playoffs right
back to back years where you're a favorite, and certainly
for this year, everybody was already booking their their trip
to Miami. Yeah, I mean there were there was some
questions with things. I understand, you know Ingram wasn't at
full strength right calf injuries. Certainly, However, Gus Gus Edwards
is way more than capable of being an effective runner

(08:46):
back for you. You know, he had a couple of
games this year where he posted over rushing and then
you know, this is where we that we taught common
sense versus analytics. I understand they had a guy on
staff who had all these percentages of how going for
it on fourth down is beneficial and yesterday backfired twice.

(09:09):
Well you saw the second one right as Lamar got
towards the line, decided I'm gonna go back on the
other side and see if I can find a hole,
and there were three guys waiting. Yeah, but it doesn't
it doesn't matter where he went. I mean, yeah, he
could have stayed to the right. But it's the fact
that they went for it twice when the game wasn't
even out of reach. You know. Well, yeah, the percentagees

(09:30):
say it as long as you're consistent, like that's I
guess what it comes down to you For me and
the hardball is a guy that that does go for
it and trust that they're going to I guess playoff football.
How much do you flip the script from what you've
done in the regular season, right, I mean, I mean
they were in a similar situation versus the Chiefs, you know,
when they kept going for it on fourth down. I

(09:50):
understand that stuff, but it's like, you know, pick and choose,
you know, the appropriate time that they didn't have to
those those two fourth the ones that they went for.
You if they worked out, good for them, But those
weren't necessary. It's not only been needed to well, and
it goes back to you know, the fourteen six halftime lead,
is that you've been dominated still one possession game, right

(10:13):
for all that you saw and certainly social media response.
I was in hanging out with it with my daughters.
We were in a in a restaurant and I was
really annoying the people around me. I ended up having
to buy him dessert because I felt bad. I just
and I I think it was a first date kind
of situation to where I was making it really uncomfortable
by screaming on big play after big play. I was

(10:37):
think I was screwing the guy over a little bit
with my yelling killing his mood. That's very obnoxious. Hey,
you came to a place where a bunch of TVs
that have sporting events on. Why are yelling? I'm an
excitable guy when it comes to my unit, doesn't matter.

(10:58):
I would have been annoyed to. But like, dude, who
is this guy? He's not eve been a fan of
either team? No, that's just it. I'm a fan of good,
smash mouth football, and that's what I got to see
behind that Tennessee offensive lie for John Harbaugh. Also, the
the question of well, what does this game mean, on
the grand scale, I felt like this team was the
best football team that it could be this year, you know,

(11:20):
with the with the with the group that we had,
I thought we made the most of of us becoming
the best football team it could be. We just weren't
that today. And that's the disappointing thing. Okay, that's that's great.
Regular season weren't the best best today? No, you weren't
even close to the best today. Just giving their credit,
they bludgeoned you as you went to what you did

(11:41):
in the regular season doesn't matter, and that became part
of the big thing. And like Lamaro win m v P.
And that's fantastic. But this league, as we know, you
start counting wins and losses in the playoffs, those things
start to carry with you and the team doesn't get
another chot like this. Right, you're fourteen and two, this
might be the best chance you get. You're not promised

(12:02):
because I saw so many of the lazy takes. Look
and you want to prop guys up. I get it,
and maybe former teammates whatever, But how many guys have
we seen have that shot early in their career where
everything goes right? Because this team was healthy. Right, they
didn't lose a lot of games to injury over the
course of the year to keep personnel, and you're gonna

(12:22):
look at contracts. I mean, how much Leanda he he
might retire? Right, he was talking about it before this
season and came back. Can you coax him back? And
is he the same guy? This is about as as
good a run in a regular season as you see.
And you may never get another shot like this. So
all the hey, he's still gonna win multiple super Bowls

(12:42):
any very well may but in the moment, this is
really one that got away. And not only did they lose,
they got a punched in the mouth on their home field. Yeah,
but I feel like he can only improve. Um, this team,
especially offensively. Uh still young, still developing, and right, they
did have a heck of a year, but it's possible.

(13:04):
I look at you know, last year when Mahomes had
that unreal, you know, five thousand and fifty touchdown type
of season. He didn't have that. This year. He dealt
with adversity, He dealt with, you know, losing home games,
he dealt with injuries. Um, but they did improve in
other areas on the team in terms of bringing in
Steve Spagnola and then bringing in the honey Badger. Um,

(13:25):
you know, getting guys, you got Brillian and you know
Frank Clark. You make those kind of acquisitions. So it's
they're gonna look at themselves and continue how to improve
because right, they are going to get every single team's
best shot next year because now we have a legit
full off season on how to dissect this this team. Yeah,
and it goes to Logan Ryan talking about he even

(13:47):
got a nice Madden reference in and talking about how
to defend this this offense and and how they stacked
up on the line of scrimmage, said go beat him right,
the only the only mean you have Andrews who again
he was on the injury report as well. Uh, and
Hollywood Brown are your two receivers. Otherwise you get Willie
Snead and some others. So you can certainly make upgrades

(14:10):
on the outside as well. To further compliment what Lamar
Jackson's doing, just history in the NFL just says you
don't you don't always get that second shot right, and
you want to see when you've got something like this
potential greatness. Dr Folks here in Los Angeles all the
time that fourteen and two Charger team all those years ago,

(14:33):
or Dan Marino in his second year get into his
Super Bowl. Is like, you may have a great career,
but you're not guaranteed to get back. And as we
go on, we'll see exactly what Hardball and company can
do four year three, Yeah, because only the other teams
are gonna catch up Cleveland Brown depends when he gets
a coach. They got talent, they can catch up. Steelers
not that far away. And I mean Bengals can turn

(14:56):
around one year depending on what they do. Curiosity, certainly everybody.

on your updates, having some fun with you getting through
uh divisional round. We've got the n C Double A
final will be tomorrow night. It's gone quietly. Why because

(18:20):
two weeks have passed since we actually saw football? Is
that not acidine? At some point it just goes into
the ether and you go, oh, yeah, there's a game
that's a that's a that's a big game though that
that's an important one, that's probably the most exciting game
of the whole weekend. Yeah, we will get to that
as the show develops. Uh. The NFL being king around

(18:42):
these parts, and certainly yesterday, you know the old line,
you know, if you come with the King, your best
not miss Well for the Baltimore Ravens, they were on
top of the mountain for the regular season, Henry, Well,
we're did I mess it up? I'm sorry? So call

(19:05):
he is shot? I mean Earl Thomas and company. They
had a lot to say starting the week. So I
think turning a probably through it like seventeen seventeen times
last game. Uh, for like seventy five yards in the
playoff game and they still one. You know, that's that's
the critics to how hard he's running in their old line. Uh,
he's a cutback runner. He's very patient, he'll find increases

(19:26):
and Gods didn't seem like they was too interested in
tackling them. So I think our mindset is a little different.
I think we're gonna try to tackle, gonna just try
to swarm, uh, and we're gonna see how how it
plays out in theory. In theory that worked pretty well.
But the super cuts of Earl Thomas avoiding any at

(19:46):
all contact with Derrick Henry Downfield a few times. But
here's the different here. Okay, here's the issue of of
me now being on this side and the media side,
is you see what people do and say, Yes, he
said that New England didn't seem too interested. He said
we are going to try. Yeah, we're going to try

(20:11):
and swarm. He did not say we're going to do
this like they forget all that they forget to put
all that just like the whole the whole Irison thing,
the practice. You know we talked more proudly. Well, every
coach now uses that to tell their players don't be
like him. Well that that that's not wasn't the narrative.
The whole thing was he just came back from you know,

(20:32):
his best he lost one of his closest friends, and
he was like, you guys are coming at me about practice,
when when I just when I just lost somebody important
to me, and you guys are talking about practice. That
was the whole thing. Earl said, I'm gonna try. He
tried and got shoved down the field. You know, other
guys tried. It's different, man, when that Matt truck is

(20:53):
coming through the line of scrimmage. And it was. The
funny thing about Derrick Henry too, is that he's he's
been doing is his entire life. In high school, he
was the same size. I think he ran for over
four thousand yards his senior years. Pretty ridiculous. We've seen
a couple of takes of guys when the last couple

(21:13):
of years, like, look at what this guy's doing in
high school and you try to equate it he's doing it.
He's always he's always been a home run hitter, you know,
in football and obviously at Bama and and still doing it.
So that that's why it's funny. It's it's gosh, get
out the way guys. Well, but it's the old opportunity
to find some bi bulletin board material. Because they certainly

(21:34):
heard it in the Tennessee locker room, and Derrick Henry
addressed it post game. We're gonna do too much talking.
We're just gonna work and believe in each other. That's
how mentality. You know, we will come out here and work.
That's that's how my sets finish. Talk blank earl was
the last part of it. You know, everybody finds their

(21:56):
methods to get themselves ready. I mean Tannehill only had
to attempt four teen passing Derrick Henry had one of
the nice jump bat's touchdown as it rolls to Ryan Tannehill,
so he accounts for three touchdowns only eight passing yards.
But you know, we can all talk theories, you gotta
go out and do it. Yeah, especially the Titans. What
I like about them is they are not just playing

(22:17):
these games and hoping to win. They truly believe wholeheartedly
that they were going to beat New England, that they
were gonna go into Baltimore and beat Baltimore. Like this
is the most this is the most dangerous team because
they're not intimidated from anyone at all, and they're playing
like it. Well, all of a sudden, we started thinking
about Tennessee takes on the winner of Kansas City Houston Lander. Damn,

(22:40):
we'll preview that game as the show develops, but I
like their odds. Suddenly looking at Ryan Tannehill and going
back to Miami looks like a pretty good formula against
these two teams, that that will be one of the challengers. Yeah,
I mean, I like I said, ill their chances and

(23:00):
I keep being redundant about them reminding us of the
two eleven Giant's team. But right now they're built for
all of that stuff. There's nothing that they can't do offensively,
There's nothing that they can't do defensively. They have all
the right pieces in the right places, um to make
the right place especially you look on defense, um, just

(23:22):
an aggressive, stout defensive line. They got really smart linebackers
and they have to veteran safeties in Kenny Riccaro and
Kevin Bayer that always in the right spots at the
right time. They both had a pick yesterday. And then offensively,
you know, you have a veteran quarterback in Tannehill who's
right now just earned himself a bunch of money. You have,
you know, the the leading rusher and Henry, and then

(23:44):
you got receiver outside and who's just phenomenal and tight
ends that are just showing up on it anywhere making
miraculous plays. I mean, they're they're they're built for it.
It's funny because as the season started, go back all
the way to August, I like them to win the
division based on a lot of what you just said,
thinking that Mariota would have Delaney Walker and he'd be

(24:06):
an eight ninety catch guy, and with Derrick Henry that
with the Derrick Henry we've gotten to see right because
he was the jury was still out for Mario. Mario
it was the thing. He's like, yeah, you we could
look at every every other thing on that team, but
the jury was still out. He was. It was him
and Jamis like, what's going on? Inextricably linked forever because

(24:28):
I definitely did not have Tennessee winning the division at
all I had, you know, even with Luck Levin, I
thought the Colts had enough. I thought they were a
wild card. Yeah, but you know they had a lot
of injuries. Yeah, certainly beset by injuries across the board,
Saffold Luan. I mean you look at that offensive line
and what they've been able to do and and put
together with Ryan Tannehill. As you say, man, we got

(24:50):
a lot of shuffling going on in the quarterback position
this year. There's a guy that playing with house money,
as it were, right, because there was a lot of
pressure when he took that job over. It was right.
I've been saying that too, like just if you on
the backup, you go in there, you can do no wrong.
You can' I mean this this he wakes he expectations right.

(25:13):
For him, it was either I extend my run right
and I probably buy myself two years on the back
end of a career if I play, if I show anything,
you'd be a service will backup for a while, right,
I get to hold a clipboard, makes some more money
as a backup, or like this, now you're probably looking
at what a franchise tag. He's back in the running,
right A franchise tag, probably to say, hey, let's show

(25:34):
me it again. What do they pay him? This is
this is this is multi year where this is not
this is not tagworthy. This is okay? You know he
because you know he's he's been to the playoffs with
the Dolphins before, and you know I earned himself a
contract there, so he I mean, he what else do
you need to see a couple of four thousand yards season?

(25:54):
I know something you and I both picked up on Twitter, Emmanuel,
Oh my gosh, who just laid the hammer on Adam Gaze?
Something I've talked about with Jason Smith a little bit
because he is a Jets fan, needling him along the
way as guys who used to work under Adam Gays
go and have success. But a man, you'll just flat
out laid him out. That was a hook. I didn't

(26:17):
an accumul I didn't see it earlier. It was, Oh
my gosh, it was super impressive, because first of all,
it was a great job. I think he's one of
the most fantastic guys on on TV. But man, did
he ever talk about them, certainly growing growing his voice.
Here Here was the tweet for those that missed it,
imagine a coach who convinced us that Ryan Tannehill, Kenyan

(26:41):
Drake and DeVante Parker were no good. You give him
another head coaching job and letting him convince us that
Levy on Bell and Sam Donald aren't that good. I
wish you luck, Jets. Yeah, and he forgot to add
Jervis Lantry in that. Oh yeah, throw and throw him
at the bags. Who was the only guy of certainty
and consistency in that Cleveland offense? I mean he and

(27:04):
Nick Chubb right with Baker Mayfield doing Baker Mayfield things.
How about that? There you go, and then launched back
into the off season. I'm sure that will be picked
up for a couple of pretty good runs as well
for the local Beat reporters as they get Adam gaze

Low and Crown with What's trending? Good morning, Michael and Will.
On Saturday night, the Tennessee Titans shocked the world, not
just winning at number one seed Baltimore in the a
f C Divisional Playoffs, but dominating them eight to twelve.
Derrick Henry ran for a hundred ninety five yards and
for good measury through a jump pass touchdown pass to

(28:10):
Corey Davis. This after running for one two in their
wild card victory over the New England Patriots. Lamar Jackson
meanwhile thirty one of fifty nine for three sixty five
a touchdown pass, but two interceptions. You know, um, yeah,
well I had a lot of mistakes and might we
have free turnovers that shouldn't happened. But you know they
came out to play. You know, we just started off slow.

(28:32):
You just gotta do better next time. But moving forward,
get rid of for the O season. We also had
a great moment before the game on the CBS television
pregame show Bill Kawer finalists for the Pro Football Hall
of Fame was holding court on the air when he
was surprised by an unexpected guest listen special and you know, Bill,

(28:55):
there's something else special here. Hey, who's this big fella.
I'm sorry, David, good to see if you Sorry, man,
I was trying to knock on a door back there,
but you don't have a door. Knock it down, hey,
coach your viewers out there who don't know. I'm David Baker,

to thank you for all you've done for the game,

(29:17):
for all you're gonna do for the game, and I
want to welcome you to can'ton Ohio, where you're great
surprise moment. Earlier Saturday, the forty Niners advanced of the
NFC Championship Game with a seven to ten victory over
the Minnesota Vikings. And Michael and Will we have a

(29:38):
PostScript to last night's stunning victory by the Titans in Baltimore.
That's from Joe rex Road, oh my guy who covers
the Titans for the Athletics. So this morning there was
a commercial flight from Baltimore to Nashville filled with Titans
fans and the flight was delayed because the pilot's chair

(30:04):
was broken, and so they had to take all the
Titans fans off the plane, and the gate agents said,
out of the terminal as they were waiting for them
to bring out a new plane, quote, the reason why
this is happening is because you guys beat us yesterday. Okay,
ma'am put that Titans flag down. Unquote. What have you

(30:25):
ever heard of a plane a flight being delayed because
the pilot's chair was broken. I'm just saying that's pretty impressive. Well,
the fact that the gate attendant then says that I
gotta feel like they'll be handing out a bunch of
voucher he was maybe he was watching the game on
the flight and ripped his chair off because he was furious.
Went all incredible, Hulk went all incredible, Hulk. Raven's gonna

(30:48):
use him. Then we played Thanks Azak a little bit
of flavor there, and he mentioned Bill Kuer Pro Football
Hall of Famer. Surprise, David Baker comes out one sixty
one in his career. Can I be that guy? I
feel like Book Howard knew he was there, his family

(31:11):
was there. It seems seem when when when David Barry
came out. I was like, man, I got so emotional.
I was like, this is cool. And then I saw
his family that I'm like, oh wait, why are they there?
Maybe they come to work every weekend. Maybe maybe it's
like a free trip. Maybe they do that. I don't know,
maybe that's part of his contract. I don't know anyhow,
but I kind of thought the same thing at the

(31:32):
end of the day to this super cool. Well deserved
my brother as a die hards Steelers fans, So I
definitely got to learn all about the history of the Steelers,
you know way back what you know, Levon Kirkland and
Greg Lloyd. And actually I went to I took our
kids to a reptile convention, uh last weekend and I

(31:53):
ran into Chad brown ched who who does that as
part of his Yeah, she ships as a shipping company.
And he was there, and that looks cool. And I
really never go up to introduce myself to anybody, but
if I'm like a huge football fan, you know, me
being the history, and I said what's up to him?
And he knew how it wasn't that was cool? Yeah,

(32:15):
I just shout out and see how so that's all going.
I used see Chad with some regularity, so there you go.
Used to be up around these parts. But yeah, really cool. Yeah,
part of you know the guys we watched growing up.
I mean, that'll make for a great bust. And he
got hired at thirty four years old. Well and I
mean they then followed up Mike Tomblin, right, but same age.

(32:36):
So and as we know the Steelers, you get your
run you know before before I mean for Color. He
decided to move on after the tragedy in his personal
life and has had a great run at CBS. So
congratulations to him. We'll see what the next iteration. Some
folks wondering if David Baker isn't going to be on

We'll see if that comes to fruition. Is you know
what something I don't know. I don't know, just speculating, Will.
I don't know you were on a lot more recently

(33:42):
is easier now. We mentioned the you know bulletin board
material with air quotes around it from Earl Thomas, one
guy who's never gonna get short changed in giving you
an opinion. Sometimes you can go back through this Brewder
film and prove him wrong. There was no proving him wrong.
Yesterday's Richard Sherman had himself one whale of a game,
and we always know come playoff time he's ready to perform,

(34:04):
and if you want to short him in your analysis
of the game, he's not gonna let you. I get
tired of hearing, oh, man, he's his own corner. I
get tired of hearing the excuses for why I'm great.
It was man coverage. I covered the man, I picked
the ball off in the playoffs. In big games, I
show up, I show up year and year out, whether
it's two thousand and eleven, two thousand twelve, two thousand thirteen,
two thousand and fourteen, unless I tear my achilles. I'm

(34:26):
out there and I'm doing my job at a high level,
and I think I get tired of the excuses, you know,
for why why I'm good? Oh my god, they're playing
on Oh my god, it was this guy. Oh my god,
receiver slipt. Oh my god. It's it's like, why why
don't other people get those outs there? You know what
I mean. It's a lot of other corners out there
who have the same outs I have. You know, It's
it's odd, It's it's it's like people got frustrated that

(34:47):
I was so confident early on in my career. I
was so confident early on so that people wanted me
to fail, and when I didn't fail, it's like, how
do we tear him down in other ways? How do
we find a way to tear him down? You know,
I mean, how do we find a way to rip
his game apart? Because I'm too consistent on a year
in your out basis. You know, since I got in
the league, every category that matters to a corner. I'm
number one in I believe he said, I like that.

(35:07):
I like that. After intercepting the ball uh and starting
to run the other way, Big plays like there's there's
no doubting the man's career and a lot of what
he says is true. Listen, this is I'm gonna defender
Richard here. So I remember when I first uh got

(35:29):
signed by Seattle until I wasn't thirteen for the for
the officason in training camp. I remember on my way there,
I was like, I am so curious to see what
Richard Sherman is like, because all we know is he's
out there going crazy, running his mouth, talking trash. Don't
But what I learned is is that sherm all he does.

(35:51):
He's just he's just collecting data. He's collecting quotes, He's
collected all his information. He never initiates the beef like,
he won't go out of his way to talk trash
to somebody to like out of nowhere, like something has to,
you know, make him move, something has to move him

(36:12):
emotionally to say something. So if you do say something
about him, then it's on, and it's on for the
rest of your life. It will never end. I'm telling
you he has receipts. He's like, he's like Sonic running
around collecting all those coins and then as soon as

(36:34):
you hit him with a spike out, I'm telling you so.
And also to it and you know I remember too
he are talking to coach Gus Bradley when he was
even the coordinator at the time before Dan Quinn took over,
and Saron was like, you gotta let me. You have
to let me respond to, let me run my mouth
like he tried to convince him, and Gus was like,

(36:57):
that's not I don't want you to do that. E goes.
Trust me, he said, because right now we have a
talented team and nobody is watching the Seattle Seahawks, like
no one's watching us right now, no one cares. You
have to let me do my thing. And Gus was like,
all right, I'll trust you. Seem to work out pretty
well for all, but think about it. Like the quote

(37:19):
we just heard, don't you ever talk about me? Right,
because something happened in the offseason where crab she says
something about Richard. What's Richard saying? Now? You know people
saying this, people saying that, people saying that. So, yeah,
he's gonna go up there run his mouth. Tom Brady says,
something came after me after the game, You mad, bro.
Everything is a response. It's never initiative. But yes, it's

(37:43):
like if you slap him, then he's going to get
a weapon and go after you. Well, it's just funny,
right because because as you went through this year and
broke down the San Francisco defense, you're trying to figure
out what's fantastic across the board. So he becomes the
guy that I guess if you're gonna say, well, where's

(38:05):
their week week link, he's older, whatever, But it's usually
not about his play, at least for this year, it
seemed in relativity to everything else going on with that defense. Well,
with him, it was never about him athletically, and he'll
tell you that himself. He goes, I'm not I'm not
about to run a four or three. I'm not gonna
do anything miraculous. By the way, Watford discore, thank you

(38:29):
forty two minutes in one nil, I'm not gonna do
anything miraculous of athletically, But he said mentally, I know
what every single receiver is going to do. I know
what the offense is gonna do. I know the coordinator's tendencies.
I know all this stuff, and I remember sitting in
the back in the meeting room. I would sit like
two desks away from him, and while Christian Schard is

(38:51):
going over the game plan on the board, Sherman is
literally glued to his iPad watching everything. He's the only
corner besides Charles Us and I know that would be
at the corner and yelling formations, routes, stunts, shifts from
the opposite side. It's impressive. That's why he's still playing.
You know, if you can learn mentally, you'll play a

(39:12):
long time. We'll go back into that game a little
bit coming out next tier on the program, as you
break down just the level of domination. Uh and what
does it say? You know, maybe they celebrated to Eurly.

that's what I did. A lot of guys think about that,

got some folks getting ready to cover the National Championship
game tomorrow night coming up in about ten minutes from now.
We'll get into that. The attempt to hype a game
that kind of has fallen to the ways. I mean,
it's huge implications right the right. But for Dabbo Sweeney

(43:24):
and his career. You talk about Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow,
the presumptive number one pick. All of these things come
to a head and everybody's favorite head coach, let's play
what the hell did he just say? It's at oderon.
But going back to that Minnesota San Francisco game, a
complete dismantling by the San Francisco defense. That first possession,

(43:46):
our second possession for the Vikings, right, they respond well,
three and out to get out to get things started.
Forty Niners go eight play, sixty one yards and a score.
You get the bounce back right away. Hey, seven seventy nine,
a touchdown, a big pass play forty one yards Sefon Diggs.
We got ourselves a ball game. No six total yards

(44:10):
the rest of the way for Minnesota. Seven first downs,
narrowly escaping, tying for the fewest first downs in history.
No chance at all to get Dalvin Cook in the
run game, which was the only thing against the forty
Niners all year that teams potentially could at least win

(44:31):
a little down in distance to hang for a bit.
Will Yeah this uh, I saw it going this way.
I thought it was a great win, a great statement
win for Kirk Cousins last week. Um, you know they
always want to see him make the play when it mattered,
um in key moments in a hostile and environment versus

(44:51):
another Hall of Fame quarterbacks to put himself in that
elite category. You know, I know he's driving for that,
but I just knew San Francis had too much, especially
way too much offensively, everyone everyone offen is gonna touch
the ball in Shanahan's offense. And then defensively, you had
that front line, the front four up there, and you
have an intelligent secondary and you know, a really smart

(45:13):
and tough linebacker crew. So it's I knew they wouldn't
go in there and not do well under duress. And
the question is did they celebrate it too much after
last week because it seemed like it was almost a
super Bowl victory. Well, you're excited, that was that was
That's a tough place to win, and they did beat
Drew Brees and company. I argued on the show with
Jason Smith that I want to know why New Orleans

(45:36):
gets a pass every year Drew Brees eight and eight
and as a playoff quarterback, or Andy Rea gets to
pass every year. We'll talk about him and he's well black,

you Fox Football son Day Mike Carmen alongside Super Bowl
champion twelve years in the league, Will Blackman at NFL
wine Guy on Twitter. A big day yesterday. You know,
when you you sit down and watch these games, will
you got a notebook or are you just drinking a
glass of wine and chilling? I am. I had two
bottles of wine yesterday. Actually nicely done two games. Long

(46:23):
games man, Well that's just it. You gotta pace yourself.
I mean, you know, the drink per hour and all
that stuff. All. I literally did absolutely no no work yesterday,
no business. We were outside. It was a gorgeous day
out here in southern California. Were outside with my wife
and kids, and we were playing Shout out to my
wife shawna um and we were just playing outside. And

(46:45):
then once the game started, I made a cool, you know,
cheeseboard and some wine for my wife and now we
sat by the fire and watched the first game and
then um, then I relaxed on the couch and watched
the second game and I I had a glass of
wine in my hand. Um maybe for about but eight hours.

(47:06):
That's living, right man, that is fighting your winds right there. Yeah,
I was like, I was like, I'm shutting today down,
doing nothing. Nothing. I got a big hike in early
My daughter and I took the dog out and we
went down There's a great resort area here in southern
California called Tarrana, So we didn't did the hike there,
met up with a lot of doggos, sweat and sat

(47:27):
on the rocks, saw a lot of dolphins. One of
those things I'm trying to make myself stop and recognize
the greatness that's all around you. And you're being more
venturous and going outdoors and hiking, you know, that's that's
fitness in itself. Well, the road to Quadzilla begins with
that first step. But yeah, yeah, wine was an important
tool in my preparation when I was playing, Is that right? Yeah?

(47:51):
I had had great music, had a glass of wine,
and had my film and a notebook. So I guess
sitting down watching football with the glass of just mentally
puts me in the state to receive more information. When
watching I did that I can buy it. You were
in the league twelve years. Who's gonna not buy that? Yeah,

(48:11):
I mean you can. You can now take that on
the road and sell it in locker rooms nationwide. Hey, guys,
get drunk. Will not be doing that. And I don't
know that you want to put it that way. We
can probably massage that message message a little bit there well,
but certainly that can't be received. Have like a reasoning
where you know you might get between eight and alcohol.

(48:35):
Don't go ahead and he said, wilso have wine. You
get a big cab that's alcohol and you you're fried
by the first quarter of the game. You watch it
just as long as they've taken away any of your
function to hit send on social media. That's the one
part of the I didn't start doing that. I was
like nine, I was I was a grown man by then.
There you go. Later on, we'll watch a couple of

(48:58):
NFL games, right, a bunch of grown ass men getting
after it. But the segue being we've got the college
final tomorrow night. Right, two teams that will take their
final exams, as it were, off of fantastic season, the
Climbs and Tiger, I mean Tigers are gonna win, right,
It's the old joke, who were gonna who are we
the wildcats? Who are gonna eat the wildcats? Insert the

(49:21):
Tigers here climbs in a five and a half point
underdog in this one to Joe Burrow at Oorderon and Company.
And as we were talking in the offices here and
around the hallways, the hype. There's an excitement for the
game itself, but the build up just hasn't been there,
and for college football, I think for a lot of
the year, because we're getting into that here's the presumptive

(49:45):
what four six, eight teams that can compete for a
title When we're coming out of August, it makes the
regular season just more like a preliminary exercise. Oftentimes. I
think that I believe for this game, the build up
is there just because of who is in the game,
um L, s U and Clemson. I believe it's there.

(50:06):
There's right now, there's just an important football going on
at the professional level. But as soon as these games
finish up today, you better believe that it's it's going
to be all about this National championship game, which I
am thoroughly looking forward to. I wasn't really Um, I
felt like college football this year was kind of you know,
so so for me because it's like, you know, you

(50:28):
have certain teams that are gonna end up being in
the playoffs. So you know, basically, I guess you watch
your school, and if your school is not doing well,
then it kind of is what it is for me. Yeah,
BC did not have a great season, so it was
kind of worthless for me to watch so much college football,
and so once the playoffs started, that's kind of where
I really buckled down. Was like, Okay, this is where
like the real football is going to happen. Um. And

(50:51):
for for Clemson l s U to be the two teams, um,
that's that is definitely exciting both standing here at fourteen
and now. I mean like your Boston college Northwestern had
uh struggles would be the kind way to put your
head coach path and Gerald didn't go anywhere. Yeah see
we lost it, dazzio, but we got Jeff Halfley from
a how state, which is exciting. Nice pick up right

(51:13):
part of the playoff run as it were, right, so
they at least we're in the dance and you can say,
all right, we build off that because that's athletic that
from how State last year, and now we've got to
do our head coaches from a hostit, which is yeah,
there you go. That's what I'm talking about, one one
after another. All right, you getting that that laundry truck

(51:36):
and you become part of our staff next year. Uh,
smuggling them out the back door. But to your point,
I mean, for me, it became about the Big Ten. Alright,
what's Wisconsin doing, Penn State for a long part of
the season, and of course Ohio State watching for representation. Right,
you start playing conference games and say, all right, my
team is not going to a meaningful bowl. We didn't

(51:57):
go to a bowl at all this year. So it
becomes scoreboard watching, watching what p. J. Fleck was doing
in Minnesota, and just the curiosity of teams rising ferens
and what I was able to do. And then from
the national perspective, you always have an eye on Alabama
and l s U and what they were doing, and
certainly with a lot of what we do here at
Fox Sports Radio will focused on the NFL. It became

(52:21):
very important to watch every throw from Joe Burrow and
to dissect every throw that Joe Burrow made. As the
season warre On, Yeah, it has. And and for Joe Burrow, um,
it's been a joy to watch. Has been impressive. He
has he has that that calmness of of let Todd
Brady where he literally sat there and everything wasn't slow motion.
So um, especially for that. I guess what which I

(52:45):
guess I'm trying to say is the road and the
SEC is is way more challenging, and that Joe Burrow
and the Alicia Tigers have delivered every time. But you know,
I we were talking um during break about you know,
certain teams having a weaker scare just what have you? Yeah,
I felt like Clemson's road, uh to this situation through
the a SEC was a breeze for them. I mean

(53:07):
they that that was not a competitive um conference at
all by any means whatsoever. However, you know, they got
into the playoffs and they handled a business against a
strong Ohio State team. Right, you had the one year
stumble against North Carolina, but otherwise, even with a slow

(53:27):
start by Trevor Lawrence and Clemson standards, once they got rolling,
it was all just are we healthy come playoff times? Yeah?
And and and they and with they're back to back titles,
I mean they showed that, Okay, regardless of our road
we still are a really good team because they went
and handled business against Alabama. Yeah, and that's that's the
hard process, right And for Davos Sweeney, for people I

(53:51):
know that went to or around Clemson, like, while we're
beating who's on the schedules, And yes, you can't predict
from the non conference if you are playing what are
traditionally quality schools, you can't predict when they're in a
down year. But we do know that in all conferences
there's gonna be a couple of week opponents. The a
c C had nothing to offer this year, So you

(54:14):
have to wear some of that criticism and just got
a shrug and say, hey, that that's what it is.
They don't. I don't think they even wear it. It's like,
it is what it is. They It's like, let's just
get to the playoffs period. This is when these games
get to the playoffs. It reminds me of I was
watching the America's game the Niners. I can watch that

(54:35):
over and over and over again, and Steve Young was
talking about the Riberry versus the Cowboys and they were like, yeah,
we we got the schedule we got you know, the Saints,
and we got you know the players teams, But like Dallas,
they know it's it comes, it's gonna come down to
us to period. But it don't matter who's on the schedule.

(54:55):
It's like when playoff time comes, it's gonna come down
to one of us. And that's how that matters. So yeah,
we're gonna look past everybody else because we know that
that's where football matters. And and Clemson knew the whole
time that's what they had to get to and that
they were gonna handle business. You got to get back
to the dance, right, Yeah, just just get back. So
Travis at t N he's probably the guy. I mean,

(55:16):
obviously we look a lot at Trevor Lawrence passing yards
thirty six and eight, the ratio touchdown to interception at
the end, nearly two thousand total yards. As we roll,
we we look at Joe Burrow uh and the L
s U Tigers. I think it comes down to the

(55:36):
Clemson linebacking corps making plays here and stopping the yak. Yeah,
because there's I mean Clemson's I mean l s ues
in the Mornercy wouldn't even really get the ball UM
the last game. And so here's what's funny. Is as
dominant and as physical as l s U is, there's

(55:58):
just something about Clemson the fact that they have been
there before and they have done it. You know that
they're figuring out a way. We can talk about the
the fumble um that was overturned Gental House State, we
can talk about the targeting, but then Clemson still made
their plays. I mean, they had what three explosive plays

(56:19):
where it was just really bad tackling, Like for Trevor
Lawrence to take off six or five yards that shouldn't
have happened. You know, Etam was wide open on one
of the past possession happened, his long run, should have
made the tackle and then you had a chance to
make a play and justin fields to a pick at
the end of the game. They made the plays when
they need to make them in the crucial times, and
and that's what playoff football on all scales, that's what

(56:42):
it's all about. It's it's not so much about UM
just being the overall better team, is just making the
right place at the right time. And that's why I
picked them to win. They've been there, They've done that
and in the big moments when they should have been buried,
but sometimes they didn't step on their throat. But for
every I feel like, for every person that you feel

(57:03):
like you can defeat, there is also somebody for you.
And there's just something about Joe Burrow on this team.
This is something well, I think there's still something about
that's just it. I mean, he's a guy that we're
already having the conversation. If he wins the title, does
he you know, sit out and play video games for
a year? Absolutely? Go sit at would like, what do

(57:24):
you You don't need to play any more games? Just
go chill, right, get to go chill for a year.
Just go throw, play catch, go train, rest your body,
rest your mind, go serve that. Bring that up. I'm
not even kidding. I'm not kidding either. Unless he wants
a Heisman, then sure I go for it. How much
is that worth versus that first contract? And in him? Right?

(57:46):
You saw you saw to his hip, right, it's gonna
be a big question. He'll still get drafted early, but
what does that mean? Vibe where everything he's gonna be
on that that physical table, getting you know, evaluated by
all thirty two doctors, going to be poked in product
like it's you know, that's is that the worst part

(58:10):
of the whole process. That was the worst part of
the whole process. I had to I had like a
grade two shoulder separation, and I left that physical at
the combine with out my arm. Okay, so you have
to bring like a stack of like men. They have
all the information and it's funny like so there would

(58:32):
be like ten doctors standing around the table. This is
at the combine, maybe twelve or fifteen. Right one doctor
evaluate I would do the whole strength test for my shoulder.
He wants to see how it is, Is there any scarring?
Do I have any the proper strength strength? And all
these doctor will take notes. Apparently the next doctor is like,

(58:53):
let me do the strength test. I want to see
for myself, and then the next doctor wants to see
I'm like what is going on there? By the fifteenth time,
it's like I've already a noodle arm. Yeah. And so
then after that they go out and they're like, hey,
uh black men, you're up for bench I was like,
I'm not bench presson today, Like why not? I was like,

(59:13):
because my arm is hanging off. He's like, oh, that's
not gonna look good if you don't bench press. I
was like, okay, do you want me to run a
four four or bench thirty two times? You pick? He
was like, oh that's a good point. I'm like, yeah,
thank you. I could you not. That was a legit
conversation I had about the guy just that fast fast. Yeah,
it's not gonna look good out on bench press. I
was like, dude, I'll run a four for don't worry

(59:34):
about my bench I was so annoyed, well, so annoyed.
I can see the look out your face. You're going
back to that place right now in that conversation, But
why do all thirty two doctors have to evaluate my shoulder?
I don't believe those other guys. I want to see
it from. I don't trust him that he didn't do
the right strength test, So let's do the exact same

(59:54):
strength and then not only that, you had to go
to the hospital and take about seve in the five
Mr eyes. Okay, I was radioactive now when I left.
That would make me fall out. Boy, Okay, I had
a drink like seventeen glasses of clorella because I apparently
I gets rid of all that radiation Clorella never heard

(01:00:19):
of that, wrote it down. Hey, there's a lot of
things you say over the course of the show. I
got random notes to my wife, Shawna. She knows all
these things about radiation and health, and he's well black Man,
I'm my car. We're having fun with you. Fox Football

having some fun with you as we turn our attention
to the Sunday games in the National Football Leg. Two
gems Yesterday, if you're a forty Niner fan, you got

(01:02:51):
everything you expected and then some from your defense. Jimmy
g didn't have to be the hero yesterday. Will just
like we've been talking about Ryan, He'll make the plays
you need to make and don't turn the ball over,
succeed and proceed, Succeed and proceed, and that's that's been
there thing the whole season. It's um, it's one one
week it could be Jimmy holds it down. One week

(01:03:14):
it could be the defense that holds it down. You know,
that's team ball. You go back to the Steelers game,
five turnovers and nine as still win, and then you
go to the Arizona game where they can't stop Kyler Murray,
but Jimmy gets it done. Then the New Orleans game,

(01:03:36):
defense can't stop a nosebleed, Jimmy gets it done. Yeah,
it's it's been an interesting year watching it flow. And
Jimmy had gotten paid and we talked about his contract
a ton, so we we got that that flowing as
we moved to the next round, as they get ready
to host the winner of Seattle Green Bay. We'll talk
about that game coming up about seven eight minutes from now.

(01:03:58):
But Houston Kansas City, the Texans trying to be that
next a f C South team to come through. And
as much as we talked about Patrick Mahomes and his
brilliance a year ago, a little bit of Andy Reid
and his playoff lack of success. For the kind way
to say it, this week was owned by a Bill
O'Brien soundclip got excitable with a fan when they were

(01:04:28):
getting absolutely bludgeoned by Drew Lock and the Denver Broncos
thirty one first half points allowed. So you have that
interaction with a fan and if players are gonna wear it, well, coach,
when he gets gets into it with a fan, he's
got to wear it too. You saw DeAndre Hopkins come
over and be like, coach, what do we do together?

(01:04:48):
All right? But for Bill O'Brien, a guy who's I
don't know other than Jason Garrett that a guy has
been sitting on a hot seat longer than Bill O'Brien
in terms of where the media and fans are for
coaching and week after week and we saw it again
last week. Will Is Deshaun Watson keeps saving as bacon. Yeah.
When you when you got a guy uh like Deshaun Watson,

(01:05:11):
you definitely are are blessed and thankful um for that
to happen. But um yeah, I mean it's it's it's
funny to me. My thing is like this, this is
what we signed up for. We we signed up for this, uh,
this profession where you're gonna get heckled, You're gonna get
you know, screamed at and yelled at. You know. Someone
asked me the other day or no, a few weeks

(01:05:33):
ago basically how he was like, how can you handle
the DC media? How do you handle certain people? How
do you handle My wife always asked, I don't know
how you do it on social media? How you handle
all that stuff? And I just said, I just embrace it.
Everyone's emotional. I get it. Well, that's the whole point
is that their fans right and short for fanatics. You've

(01:05:55):
heard it a million times, but you're hoping that you're content,
whether you're on air right when you sit with Colin
or what you and I do here at Fox sports
radio or you're on social media that it's resonating right
positive negative. The worst thing you can have is someone
read your tweet and just goes right. You don't need
to all the time, but you want some kind of response, right,

(01:06:17):
I guess so and and that regards. But you know,
sometimes they just win when that happens. If someone's running
the mouth at you on social media or even in
the game, and you scream back at them, then they
can go to my friends like, hey man, Bill O'Brien,
yo at me. Oh that's cool. And in a lot

(01:06:38):
of cases, especially when you come with the O'Brien thing,
it's like you're validating what I've just screamed at you,
because clearly something's in your head and you're struggling with
whatever this is that I've hit at some route to
where you you've heard the criticism either before or in
your own head. There's something you know didn't happen, right,
And then that first half they got obliterated. Let it go.

(01:07:02):
So as we as we moved forward, I mean, the
big thing for Houston and we we chuckle about it.
We've done this show now since the middle of the season,
weekend week out for the Houston Texans. It's the riddle
me this batman. Is Will Fuller gonna play right now?
It looks like he's ready to go. Darren Fells, Kenny
Stills also expected to go. And we know the metrics

(01:07:23):
DeShawn Watson and that offense runs to a nearly a
touchdown better when Will will Fuller's on the field offering
the deep threat for Deshaun Watson. This one is the
game of the week as as I looked at the four,
not that it's a mortal lock, because most would have
said that about Baltimore, but this was the one game

(01:07:44):
you look at and they'll win, I think, But I
don't know that they win convincingly. I think Houston, particularly
Deshaun Watson, one or two plays are gonna make the difference.
If Carlos Hide can get off a little in the
ground game, that's that's gonna be a big deal. Is
can they can they keep the homes off the field

(01:08:06):
if possible, long for attracted drives. Yeah, I mean, that's
that's what's gonna have to happen. Here's what Here's the
weird thing with the Texans is that we we try
to use our our data, stats are tendencies in terms
of you know, can they run the ball effectively to
keep my homes up the field? Can they get explosive plays?
Can they do this? Can they do that? And it's

(01:08:27):
like they may not do any of that. Kansas City
might score, you can score sixty five points, but something
is going to happen in the game throughout the game.
Where so will Houston because of the Shawn Watson making
crazy plays. I mean, Kansas City's defense second half of

(01:08:50):
the year must be much better, right, we saw a
more consistent pass right. Still have some questions Chris Jones
as to his availability and and even is he gonna
be on a snap count? Uh, Travis Kelsey with some
injuries as well. But if you're the Houston secondary has
been beatable, good chunk of the year, man, how do
you contain him when he is on the field? What

(01:09:10):
do you what do you do to try to slow
that that weapon down? Just let him the homes? Yeah? Well,
I mean the cool thing is you got JJ back, right,
and so his his presence alone is enough. I know.
The question was how healthy is gonna be? Is he
gonna really be effective? But when you're game planning, you
are going to game plan and watch off of him. So, um,

(01:09:32):
that is a huge deal. But the issue is that
there's there are so many weapons on this team that
could take over whenever they want. I mean, Micole Hardman
is the fastest guy I ever seen on He's pretty scary.
He's pretty scary. Yeah, and that's the guy you punch
in the face at the line of scrimmage right to
get him off his route. So you're not gonna be
to hit him, you're gonna miss. You're gonna have to

(01:09:53):
hug him and hopefully get like the legal contact and
that's that's it. Just keep you a low in contact
against him. Uh. And then the one thing that has
been going about going well too for them is that
Damian Williams has been hitting home runs in nine r
runs eight r runs. He's been doing very well. He
has not been healthy early in a year and then
came through for that and what's name has been getting healthier.

(01:10:17):
Shady McCoy, right, They did some good load management on it, yeah, exactly. Um,
So I just feel like it's it's just too much offensively.
And then on the defensive side, we mentioned getting getting
coached Bagnola was a big deal. You know, get a
coach with some championship pedigree. Um, you may not be

(01:10:38):
first in any category. Um defensively, however, you know when
you have a coach with that pedigree, he's good at situations.
You know, can you make the right place at the
right situation. And this is gonna be an interesting game.
I feel this is gonna be a wonderful revenge game
for the Honey Badger. You know, I know he wanted

(01:10:59):
to stay in Houston, and this is gonna be a
game where I'm gonna say he has two pigs. Look
at that double and a fumble recovery. He's walking away
with three turnovers taking over this game. That is what
you call a monstrous performance from the Honey Badge. Right.
I do look to Kansas City to win the game,
but I think Houston keeps the close. I like that
plus nine and a half or plus ten wherever you're

(01:11:21):
looking out there, Hey, you want to hear something amazing.

Slash cash back match coming up, we look at the
other side of the bracket as we have the Seattle

(01:11:43):
Seahawks on the road at Green Bay. We'll get an
update on the seven hundred shovelers and whether they got
paid out. But first it's Isaac Low and Crowning. What's trending. Yeah,
you guys know about that, right, they're only getting twelve
bucks an hour. I wouldn't mean if I could, I
wouldn't pay him a die. And the seven order of
guys are gonna show up for nothing, that's true. And

(01:12:03):
plus they have they park in a lot six. But
then when they're finished, they have to get out of
there so all the fans can come for the game
or else there in trouble. Yeah, they have to pay
back the parking fee. That will eat up that twelve
bucks an hour pretty fast. Midwest hospital I expected a
little bit bit more from Midwest hospitality talking about Southern
hospitality last night. That's what Derrick Henry and the Tennessee

(01:12:27):
Titans gave their fans. They took on the a f
C Top seed Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore and Henry and
the Titans dominated. So Henry, as you know, ran for
two and their wild card win at New England last week.
Last night he ran for one. Is the Titans upset
the Ravens in dominating and stunning fashion to twelve. Baltimore

(01:12:50):
head coach John Harbaugh laments, I felt like this team
was the best football team that it could be this year,
you know, with with with a group that we had,
I thought we made them most of of us becoming
the best football team it could be. We just weren't
that today, and that's the disappointing thing. Before the game,
great moment as former Steelers head coach and current CBS

(01:13:11):
pregame studio analyst Bill kaer Is was surprised live on
the air. Up until this moment he was merely a
Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist. But listen, Jack, Yes, special,
and you know, Bill, there's something else special here. Hey,
who's this big fella? I'm sorry to see man, you
bet you sorry, man. I was trying to knock on

(01:13:31):
a door back there, but you don't have a door.
Knock it down, knocking down, Hey, coach, your viewers out
there who don't know, I'm David Baker, President of the
Pro Football Hall of Fame. I want to thank you
for all you've done for the game, for all you're
gonna do for the game, and I want to welcome
you to Can't in Ohio, were you're Meanwhile, in the

(01:13:57):
NBA Saturday Night, the Los Angeles lay Kers without Lebron
James or Anthony Davis won anyway at Oklahoma City Kyle
Kuzma season thirty six, Lakers thirty two and seven on
an eight game winning streak. Michael Ann will back to you.
Thank you so much, Ilo so as he said, the
seven hundred, you gotta get out all right, shovel be gone.

(01:14:18):
We had a great debate on this at swooll And Dome,
the battle because you also had a guy hit a
half court shot in New York. This is a great,
uh Friday night story. Guy hit a half shot half
court shot at the Knicks game, and they gave him
a thousand dollars and lot of scratchers. Huh, that was
his prize Lakers. The week before, I gave a guy
a Hunter Grand. Now I think the Hunter Grand is
too high, but a thousand dollars and lot of scratchers,

(01:14:41):
and I guess you're given the guy a puncher's chance,
but that's a lot of work. Did they at least
supply him the quarter to scratch him off? Please? Yeah,
no kidding, that guy was winning on the next level.
But yes, twelve bucks an hour, seven volunteers. It's a
community event. They were going to show up, take pictures
and have fun. Either way, we'll have a game later

(01:15:03):
on this afternoon. Seattle Seahawks and they're banged up offense.
Russell Wilson finds a way, right, Hussell Wilson, Right, like
Jeff Goldbloom told us in Jurassic Park Life, finds a way.
That's Russell Wilson. Is that dr Ian Malcolm? Yeah, that's right,
nicely done. You could buy the funk toy of sexy

(01:15:26):
dr Ian Malcolm all laid out. But that's for another time.
But for the Seahawks, they find DK Metcalf, they find Hollister,
they find guys to make plays. Man, that's Russell Wilson
in a nutshell because the run game last week. Okay,

(01:15:46):
he's not playing though in the end, would you say
when you said find guys, that's what I was thinking.
I was thinking that, you know, personnel the personnel and
the evaluation should certainly know no slouches. We do, Russell
being the quarterback everyone involved. Yes, I agree, well, because
we'll get into coaching and some good, some bad, some ugly,
and I'm going to relate how the Dallas job Mike

(01:16:08):
McCarthy's looking at a lot like something out of a
few good men that's coming up in about twenty five
minutes from now. But just the idea of the evaluation
and stability of an organization, and we've celebrated it here.
You've talked about your time in Seattle that you know,
the embracing or at least the talking points for a
lot of coaches, and we we saw it from Judge

(01:16:30):
the other day as he takes over the Giants, like
we've got to put guys and find guys to make
plays and put them in position based on their skill set, etcetera.
What the Patriots have done, and certainly with the Seahawks
have done during their run for Schneider and Carroll. Yeah,
I mean that they I know, for Seattle, they just
look for a certain character, a certain type of guy.

(01:16:51):
Um guys who have a lot of potential, who you know,
may have a chip on the shoulder or what have you.
The biggest thing that Seattle does though, is that they
just make everybody compete at all times. I mean it's
you have to earn every single thing, like as soon
as you're relaxed, and that's the problem. And uh, they
do a good job of that. I Mean, the the

(01:17:12):
coolest thing is they were at one point one of
the most dominant teams we've ever seen, going back to
two thousand and thirteen, end up you know, winning a
title with that squad, and then you know, obviously due
to financial reasons and then a lot of UM soldiers
became generals. They made huge changes pretty much. You know,

(01:17:36):
LB everyone left, everyone Defense left pretty much only I
think kJ Right and Bobby Wagon the only two that
stay there. Um. And they never had to reset, I mean,
never had to rebuild. They instead they just reset it.
They still stay competitive, um. And that's that's the cool
thing about it. And that's why you can never ever
look past or ever doubt Seattle, because they keep showing

(01:17:58):
you every year that with Russell Wilson and resetting this roster,
he just needs like one guy he can get the
ball too, and he'll get it done well. It's funny
because coming into the year, when we looked at DK
metcalf a lot on the physicality and just wondering how
they translate. They just said, go run fast and catch

(01:18:21):
the ball right right. We'll worry about the refinement of
your route tree as your career goes on. We can
teach that, but we can't teach the raw athleticism. And
they've used that too great success over the course of
the year. When Lockett was injured, he stepped up will
disly for a defensive player that they flopped over, and
he was off to a great year before he gets hurt.

(01:18:43):
And then we know all about the decimation at running
back for Green Bay. It's all been about the running game.
And let's get this clear, Like just because you don't
you didn't have a great three cone, doesn't mean you
can't run routes. I had a phenomenal recon. I think
mine was like six six seven. I think it was

(01:19:04):
the top that year at the combine. I didn't run
great routes. I did. I was very agile, like I
can return punts, like my change of directions, but I
didn't it didn't translate to good routes. I mean you
go back to my my receiver highlights. I ran a
goal route and a quick screen. I had to run
a ten yard gig forget about it. But your falls

(01:19:28):
in the hand, you gotta make guys. You still gotta
play football. And yeah, I mean, come on now, he's
been playing receiver his whole life. It's in his dad
was an NFL players, Like, come on, man, I get it.
Just the narrative that's stuck. The reason why he fell
is because he had a really bad neck injury, That's why.

(01:19:48):
And teams didn't know if they wanted to invest in that.
And I feel like Seattle got enough information where they
felt comfortable and they took their shot. And well, it
also is going acting organizational stability of they're not two
guys looking over their shoulders that their jobs are on
the line right with the first round pick. If they
miss and he's unavailable to you can go for it.

(01:20:10):
You can take a little bit of a shot. And
so for DK Metcalf, he's been just a fantastic story
all year long, and certainly the second half of the
year that much better. But I mean half of LB
was like that. The only first rounder in that secondary
was Earl Thomas. But even but even that was something

(01:20:31):
to convince because they were like, you're gonna take Earl
and not Taylor Mays. Taylor Mays, Yeah, and that was
that was Pete's Carl safety, right, um, and he knew something.
And also you look at Sherman was a fifth round pick.
Camp Chancel was. I think he was third or fourth, fourth,

(01:20:52):
I have to look that up. Camp Chancel was, you know,
a mid round pick. Byron Maxwell was a late round pick.
I think he was seventh. Brandon Browner went undrafted, went
to the CFL, picked him up to the CFL. I mean,

(01:21:13):
come on now, I mean that, but it's talent evaluation
and when that all comes together that buys you and
you still you still gotta coach him up. I'm not
gonna let me listen to this. Certainly, yeah, you still
got to coach them up. So for Green Bay, it's
been the Aaron Jones show. He and Davante Adams the
two skill position players making hay for Aaron Rodgers questions.

(01:21:34):
Let's just say they're at least starting right as we
look at the elder statement Statesman, among quarterbacks, it's fair
to at least toss it in the mix. As you
change to this, it seems more a all right, I've
got a complimentary piece that I haven't had. That is
any of my skills declining? Not like that. I mean,
who do you have similar? I guess was it starts

(01:21:56):
the running back starts at a little bit of a
run where he can wait, he can receive and and
you know, it was like a combination of him and uh,
I think it was Lacy. Yeah. I wanted to dust
off a little Sam con Gatto just to get him
into the show. But he was Sam con wasn't. I
mean they were on the same team. But no, I
just he had about a four game How about this

(01:22:17):
my rookie, my rookie training camp? Sam con Gatto, naj Davenport,
a mong Green I'm old, well J Davenport will leave
his off field. Actually, I think I think, I just
I think I missed Sam can Gotto. However, well, I
just wanted to get Sam. But he is very blessed

(01:22:39):
to have this situation. And it's gonna be really big
to see the health of Davante Adams because that's gonna
be important for him. Are you begging? I got green
Bay at home. I'll take him at home. I think
Seattle Russell keeps it close, makes enough big plays, but
not enough, just not enough. They can't run the ball enough. Now,
that's that's the problem. You needs way too many big
bassys and a lot yak coming down field to make

(01:23:02):
it happen. Hey, if you thought the New England off
season was interesting, maybe it took an extra turn. As
in we're looking now at mug shots as we go through.
He's Will Blackman. I'm Mike Armen. This is Fox Sports
Radio from the Geico Studios. Hang with us. It's Fox
Football Sunday. Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. Great eggs,

(01:23:24):
welcome back here. This is Fox Football Sunday, my garment
alongside Will Blackman. Thanks for hanging out with us here
on Fox Sports Radio, getting your Sunday started to from services,
going for a walk with the dog, just having a
cup of coffee, whatever you're doing. Thanks for making us
part of your routine, part of your day and being
part of our extended family. Uh. A guy who's looking

(01:23:44):
for a little bit of help, right everybody. Last week
it was the burial, the public burial of the New
England Patriots. You and I talked about that last Sunday.
I don't know that any world event has united the
people that really they before so jacked, crying and screaming
and yelling. It's the end of Tom Brady, right, or

(01:24:07):
so they thought. We'll see puts out his Instagram post.
What does it mean? Jason Smith and I chopped that up.
You find that on iTunes, Google Play, wherever you download
your podcast, download and give it five stars. Will walk
coast to coast, or at least Jason will uh and
give you a hug. But it's been an interesting week
now because, as you pointed out to me, Julian Edelman,

(01:24:28):
well now has an arrest. In addition to all the
off off field work he's gonna have to do to
get his body right for next season, already scheduled for
shoulder and knee surgeries, Well now he's got a misdemeanor
vandalism charge on the docket. According to TMZ, arrested in
Beverly Hills on Saturday night after allegedly jumping on the

(01:24:49):
hood of a person's Mercedes. People and the police were
in the area working a robbery, and someone flagged them
down to report what Edelman had done. I think the
robber got away because they were worried about the the
e walk. Maybe they thought Edelman was the robber. That's
deep thoughts, that's a police now. Edelman always a playoff

(01:25:16):
hero us are normally used to playing. I guess he
didn't divisional weekend. I'm not playing for the first half
in a decade. Hopefully he's all right, though, you know,
Julie is a cool dude. Uh. District attorney in l
A County now has to decide whether or not to
proceed with the charges. Seems like one of those that

(01:25:37):
he'll write a check cover whatever damage dents found it
out that it it should be nice and easy. But
I have to wonder if if you had for a
decade just kind of penciled in, all right, we'll be
playing that weekend, and suddenly the world just stops right.
It's like a fan of Snap. What happens next? Snap?

(01:25:57):
I don't know A right half of your world is gone.
He's so used to I know, he's so used to
being there on the on the weekend's playing games. But huh,
shoulder knee surgeries In the offing, Brady was still wondering
if Josh McDaniels gets the job well, they say, hey,
and his wife interview there, right, He's right out there

(01:26:18):
hanging out. Usually when they bring the spouse, it's kind
of like, huh, start picking out houses and all of
that stuff, probably looking at school systems and everything. I
think that'd be a great fit. I think that's somebody
that Baker would respect and listen to, because I feel
like Baker has so much power over there that he

(01:26:39):
doesn't feel like anyone there has enough Credashians to Tom
what to do. Was that has him his biggest well,
I mean because obviously he changed his mind at a
moment's notice, but that Dorsey wasn't necessarily empowered last year
and then it was all Baker. Just like I said,
I felt like they gave I felt they gave the
keys to the car, you know, when they were so
excited to see him and they fell in love. All

(01:27:01):
his attributes, um the it factor, all the tangibles in
terms of being a leader, culture changer, and he does
have all those qualities. It's just a matter of you know,
managing it the right way. You know, right place, right time,
don't have to answer every question you don't um like,

(01:27:24):
learn from those guys, learned from Payton, learn from Brady,
learned from Breeze, learn from you know, all those guys
who who who didn't do that. I never once heard
Tom Brady talk about somebody else's medical situation ever, or
their money or their money, because that's also where it
all starts, starting in this offseason when he got into

(01:27:45):
Duke Johnson d Wally, He's well, black man on my carmon.
This is Fox Football Sunday. Coming up next. We had
a couple of NFL coaching iyres and one guy hasn't
placed a very important phone call. We'll tell you what
happened next. Don't listening to Fox Sports. Pretty greetings, welcome
back in. Second half begins, disco ball goes away, the

(01:28:05):
band has left the field. Thanks for hanging out with us,
Fox Football Sunday. We've got four hours till kick off
of your early game, Houston at Kansas City. We'll get
back into that game as well as the nightcap Seattle
at Green Bay a little bit later. Some more on
Saturday's big games on the fallout greetings, Welcome back in.

(01:28:27):
It's on Mike Armen alongside me, Super Bowl champ twelve
year veteran Will blacks away in the band. Well, I
mean we got to get back to back to work.
I mean you had that little stretching break, Christian, what's
that Iowa Sam, Yes, yes, we we have the tag

(01:28:51):
out as Chris Perfett leaves us after two hours and
we we tap, we go to the bullpen. Iowa Sam
h comes in with a shiny Iowa Hawkeyes hat at
the ready as he does the Iowa Minute with Jonas
Knox every week. So that's where you could hear him.

(01:29:11):
Iowa Sam ninety nine on Twitter is still where you
can find him for all things Iowa related. He'll be
tweeting out about anybody that went to Iowa has any
Iowa affiliation in these Sunday games. Will That's what he
does over the course of going You gotta problem up right,
you gotta you gotta take care of your guys as

(01:29:32):
you are as you are as a Chicago native but
a Northwestern grand I'm always watching the exploits of Dean
Lowry and those guys in the Green Bay Unis. So
you know, it's just the way it works. I wouldn't know,
but um, thank you, just trying to give some color
and flavor to what we're doing here. Barn you again.

(01:29:54):
I don't care to. I thought I explained it pretty well.
You must stop listening. So yeah, Homer, Uh, come on
in at Will Blackman at NFL wine guys. Where you
find Will on Twitter and Instagram. Find me over at
Swollen Dome. Now as we have the game still rolling
here in divisional round, everybody loves this weekend of football, right,

(01:30:16):
the best on best and the sledgehammers that we saw
Tannessee UM and San Francisco and Baltimore getting after that
style of football. We had a coaching higher about a
week ago. We were on air talking about it and
you know, let a guy out of the building. Normally
that comes back to bite you, and that's what happened

(01:30:36):
seemingly with the Giants. Matt Rule never got there. Gave
him the chance to match uh the monster offer that
Temper gave him in Carolina. The Giant said no thanks.
So Matt Rule becomes your Carolina coach. You have, Judge
goes to the Giants, and Mike McCarthy becomes the next

(01:30:56):
head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. We were chuckling about
the sleepover this time last Sunday. Okay, first of all,
about this whole McCarthy spending the night at Jerry Jones home.
Just no, I've never been to Jerry Jones home. But
he's a billionaire living in Texas. There's a lot of land.

(01:31:18):
There's a lot of land. He probably has to he
probably had to drive to the room Mark McCarthy was
staying in. Yeah, but you're killing the fun of sports
talk radios. I don't want to hear that. No, Okay,
McCarthy is my guy. I'm not gonna have that. I'm
not gonna have these memes of him cuddling Jerry Jones
out there pillow talking. All right, I almost joined the fun,

(01:31:43):
but I couldn't bring myself to doing that. Well, but
it made for a fun set of memes a little
bit because it's Jerry Jones. It wasn't about McCarthy. Was
all about Jerry Jones and his attempt to get a
head coach. Right, and so McCarthy becomes the guy. But
it's probably a test. He probably wanted to see who's
going to go through his cabinets and smell his cologns.

(01:32:03):
And you know, I don't care to. Now there's one
as Barty Gumble comes back at this guy being snooping
around my billion dollar guest house. See if he takes anything.
He takes anything, Yeah, even a sock. He's got one
of those little bags inside the bags and all of
a sudden, Wait, didn't you just come in with one suitcase?

(01:32:24):
Actually he might. He might have the home where you
have to like turn in your cell phone going Jeter
style or um, yeah, Paul Allen style too, the late
Paul Allen. It's not a bad way to be. I
heard you had to meet at every remote location and
you got picked up by one of those like black
fans that was blacked out, so you saw nothing. I
think I'd be a little nervous, would you not? Me? Well,

(01:32:47):
I mean it would be an adventure of a lifestyle
if you've survived to tell the tale. This is Paul
Allen's black car. If it was, you know, some guy
working down the street with a black man, and I'd
be working. You know, people get disappeared. I don't know that.
With that being said, I like the higher, Okay, like

(01:33:07):
the higher. I have one part of the higher that
I have to ask though. James Slayter appears on on
FS one, part of the podcast network. She was on
NFL network and said, I have not yet talked to
Dak Prescott. That's what Mike McCarthy had said, and this
was being reported as a Friday. You took the job quarterback,

(01:33:29):
being your leader and the guy that in theory they
want to lock up for multiple years here in the
in theory, no, and and but but I mean, that's
that's the question I'm asking here. Will the fact that
that wasn't that seems like, you know, the a few
good men. Santiago is getting to go home. Who did
he call? And so the same thing here, this is

(01:33:52):
gonna be the guy that ostensibly you're being brought in
to take to the next level because he was a
bum slayer. This year, Dak put up a out of
numbers against bad teams they did not win, and as
part of that was play calling like Kellen Moore, I
think got a free pass at times. I mean, you
guys have a number one offense. What did it mean

(01:34:12):
against teams with winning or winning lost that you had
the number one offense? That's you know, I mean, I
mean you had to fire your coach. They still gave
up points, right, But you also had a number of
times where your offense didn't show up in games against

(01:34:33):
better teams where they might have given a saying the
games against bad teams offset therefore given them. Well, there
are a lot of padded stat games against bad teams,
go back to their their first three games of the
year against the also rans teams that are drafting in
the top six. Just but it suffice to say, you're

(01:34:55):
deciding whether DA's your guy. You're trying to say, wouldn't
that still be one of the guys would call this
isn't das team? Whose is it? Jerry's? Well, yeah it was,
but it was more than and they certainly avoided that,

(01:35:19):
right everything. Okay, So what you're telling me reading between
the lines that maybe Dak Prescott quarterbacks somewhere else in
who knows, because they as of now, I mean, you're
looking at franchise tags. You can go the transition round
if you want to see if someone wants to offer

(01:35:41):
some massive deal that might be on the table in
Tampa with Jamis Winston, and then you've got all right,
we signed him to a long term deal. Since they
didn't get that done in the regular season, and Jerry
Jones talked less and less about that as the season
wore on. Part of it was, hey, we're in a
mad dash and we're collapsing enough Philadelphia is now you know,

(01:36:03):
objects in your rear view mirror are closer than they appear,
and they got up on him. So but for Dak Prescott,
just the question, I guess becomes, did you see enough
to say that he should be a franchise guy? I
saw enough where he should he should be. Um, he
does bring some stability to that position. He is something constant.

(01:36:26):
It's just a matter of right and it can come
down to play calm. But I feel like he is
the type of quarterback that you you will need for
your organization. And if he stays, I believe coach McCarthy
is the coach who who could get him to that
next level, because we certainly saw that in Green Bay. Right,
you come in at the same time, right, you were

(01:36:47):
there first year, right and far and then that was
when I don't want to say he elevated far as
the game he did it far was at the end
well he as everyone thought, but he just kept playing,
but extended the on another couple of years before you Rogers, right, yeah,
and then had a great changes into Rogers could have
been very easy with a guy as tenured as far

(01:37:09):
as to just you know, blow it up, which didn't
write he read this, read the room, read the situation.
Integrated players. A lot of young guys like yourself came
in and played big roles on those teams right away.
So when we look at this squad, you've got Michael Gallup,
that's the only guy in your receiving corps that's set.

(01:37:31):
And Randall. Randall Cobb is probably got it once he
got one more year on his deal. I think a
two year deal. But Amari Cooper is not signed after
the back end of the year. I don't know, I
don't I don't know that I want to invest seventeen
million dollars a year in him, which might be the rate.
Especially with the heavy receiver draft, right you've got a

(01:37:52):
lot of a lot of opportunity to go in and
and find a replacement on on the cheap, plus free
agency as well. Guys are gonna shake loose as you go.
Jason Witten goes into coaching or whatever he's done. He
was running in the second half than Jones is up
to got some pieces on the defense. The only thing,
the only thing that's certain is your offensive linemen are

(01:38:13):
all there and you're most of your D line I
think is an intact so you got your guts and
now it's sprinkling around. But also the thirty five million
dollar decision on Dak Prescott. Yeah, it is important. But
that's why I feel like right now, that's what's going
on everything. He's on the evaluation with the new coach.
Because there's certainly been some rumors about maybe bringing in

(01:38:36):
the TV twelve method to Jerry Thill tom Brady just
the Dallas that's been floated about a little bit. I
mean like at this at this point, it's the spin
the wheel of Tom Brady on a given day. I've
seen him uh photoshopped into i think half the jerseys
of the NFL. Oh it's funny, Ryan Clark, Oh, yes,

(01:38:58):
been guy form Steeler tweeted out, he said, which team
do you think Tom Brady could go to? You know,
which of the thirty one teams other thirty ones tom
Brady would go to that he could upgrade. And I
commented and said one stability work ethic. I was just

(01:39:24):
throwing off I was just throwing off fire just to
mess with people. I like that though, I'd be curious
see what that number actually was if you started breaking
it down, right, man, as good as the quarterback position
is overall. And folks were quick to bury Brady and
I'm not. I'm certainly not rocking a Brady tattoo or
you know, his jersey as I sit here. But the
guy was still four thousand yards three touchdowns per interception.

(01:39:46):
He can't tell me that he's and on the East
with a lot of obvious deficiencies on that team. Thank you.
At least that's from what I wanted. That's a fair assessment.
Watched uh ride myself, been watching the games, right, I'm
not reading box scores in people's opinions, right, No, I agree? Um,
I speaking to Tom Bray if we want to talk

(01:40:08):
about him really quick, I think if he doesn't go
back to New England, he doesn't go anywhere else. Rogers
rise to the sunset. But knowing him, he doesn't want
to go out with an L. Then want to go
out with an L. And then I thought he was
gonna retire last year. I totally I would take that
Super Bowl and tap out. I think he's just getting greedy.
He wants seven seven? Does I mean It's a nice

(01:40:30):
number because no one has seven as an organization. Be
the king of all all football. That's the hope, that's
the private I was his whole point. I'm sure. Yeah,
I still was shocked. But I mean, as we watched
Tennessee and we'll get back into them momentarily, just the
way they play football fantastic. But you go with a

(01:40:51):
narrow wind over New England and then you absolutely hammer
well because it was because it was difficult, you know,
to go in New England and win the had playoff.
You know, was ready in the playoffs every time. Um,
it was gonna be a difficult game. And they went
in there and did exactly what they had to do.
But let's I mean, we can also say to the
last like last powdered game, Uh, Tennessee just sat in

(01:41:15):
the football well and use some of those clock tactics
that Bill bellha that was brilliant. And when you've got
a Derrick Henry, you can sit on the football, no
question about it. We'll get into that momentarily. He's will
Black but on my car. But this is Fox Football
Sunday Company Alive from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios
fifteen minutes can save you fift or more on your

(01:41:36):
car insurance. Go to Geico dot com and get yourself
a free rate quote. Coming up next, King Henry moving
on to the a f C title game Tennessee and
Mike Vrabel breaking some of the stereotypes. We'll talk about
that next year on Fox. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
It's right, I'm dripping in finesse here, Fox Sports Radio,

(01:42:00):
writes Fox Football Sunday, My Carmon alongside Will Blackman, hanging
out with thinking of finesse. Finesse teams are getting cleaned
up in the playoffs. They don't. Finesse football dies in
the playoffs. Finesse football does not exist in the playoffs.
If you come out here trying to be cute with
these cool plays and and uh innovative passing plays, you

(01:42:23):
will be thrown out of the playoffs. Okay, it's not happening.
And that's part of the beauty of it. The football
that I grew up on the three yards in a
cloud of dust oftentimes seen as well just dead. And
we'll get to Melvin Gordon coming up in about twenty minutes,
because he tried to represent for running backs and was
probably promptly, Uh, you want to talk about a stiff arm.

(01:42:47):
This was like the Jimmy Garoppolo block on Anthony Barr
yesterday that went around the world, right, I mean, that's
kind of what happened to Melvin Gorner's get out of
here kind of moments. Mash mouth but smash my football
in vogue and nobody rises higher than well King Henry
right now, Derrick Henry ridiculous run the second half of

(01:43:08):
the season, everything you thought he could be, and then
some and Ryan Tannehill guiding the ship, not trying to
do too much, only fourteen pass attempts, eighty eight passing yards.
It was feed the big fella and try to stop it,
much like the Ravens ran that offense, and they couldn't.
With Mark Ingram banged up ankle, I was surprised we

(01:43:30):
didn't see more Gus Edwards early. I was shocked to
see right Gus the bus when we extolled the virgins
of him before Ingram shows up, he takes a back seat,
and all week it was the availability of Ingram was
he gonna be? Essentially had five turnovers, two picks, fumble
and two fours those she counts turnovers by the way, huh,

(01:43:56):
they shouldn't just go into the turnover on downs in
a subcategory. Those are turned over the right, but you
give up the field position so it doesn't show up
in the box, because that's actually a much bigger deal
than just you give him the ball back because you
don't give up get that extra thirty yards of fuel position.
In all, and with the exception of two of them,
they were you know, three of them what past plays

(01:44:18):
um And that's that's why it was. It was so
confusing because I'm like, Okay, they're still capable. That's the
dangerous thing with Baltimore is they have three running backs
that can all go for a hundred yards. For Cooing
the quarterback who had think hundred forty yards just carries
one three for Lamar Long of thirty, Ingram six carries

(01:44:42):
twenty two yards because he was hurt. Gus Edwards three
carries twenty yards. You know, you don't fall down, you
don't grab your calf like that and think like, oh, yeah,
he got a little strained. No, he was hurting, okay,
so that hurt tried to play hurt, tried to play
through all week. It was the question. He was on
the injury report, Andrews was on the injury report. Uh,
Andrews finishes the game. He's got four catches thirty nine yards.

(01:45:06):
Hurst had the touchdown reception, a couple of big pet
pass plays to Hollywood Brown. But it's all cosmetic because
he didn't finish the job. Justin Tucker, the thing you
didn't do all season long, right, because they finished the
job when you got the best kicker, and he was
on fantasy right, and a lot of times it was
here's your p A. T S And you got the
gift on that at the end of the half, big

(01:45:27):
pass play safety could a lit And you know I
thought the same beto him, like man hooker pulled up
and I'm like, you know what, I think he was
trying to avoid something because that was easy, a clean
shot where no one catches the football. That's kind of
what I thought, right, especially because Brown had to reach
his hand hand to extend his hand, he could have
separated up from the ball. I probably would have took

(01:45:48):
that fifteen That's what I was thinking. That. That was
me in the moments, like why did he not run
through him? Again? My folks sitting next to me, out
back steakhouse down down by me. Uh, not a sponsor. Uh. Folks.
When I screamed out like what what are you doing?
Why are you yelling, it's like, oh, there's nine. So

(01:46:10):
you weren't just screaming like sure of excitement. You were
screaming like in terms of questionable decision making. Yeah. Absolutely,
I'm trying to teach my kids as still I would
I would have asked to either move tables, asked you
to leave. I would have been one of the two.
You're that guy. No, you're that guy. No, you're that
You're that guy who just can't enjoy the meal with

(01:46:32):
his family and watch a game at a family restaurant.
Guys they put the game on. Yeah, we're all in
because it's important, we'll put the game on at a restaurant.
And we were go sit at the bar. No, no no, no,
it's it's all in. Go sit at the bar. You
knew what you were getting into playoff. We did not

(01:46:52):
know what he was. He didn't know what he was
getting into. What I said, he thought he was like
me sitting there, I'm going to have a steak, and
you know what, I get to have a steak and
watch the game same. Literally, did I know that there's
this guy over here? He's gonna make me a smarter fan.
I'm not even hungry anymore because this guy keeps yelling starving,
not starving. I don't get it. Titans twelve, the final

(01:47:19):
thirty carries yards, including that sixty six yarder that you
want to talk about ripping a spine. This was an
immortal Cobbat finishing violent over here. I mean it's Football's
a violent game. And Derrick Henry and that offensive line
that goes that goes back to my point about the

(01:47:41):
whole finesse thing. Um. Um. One of the games, one
of the Super Bowls that stands out to me is
the Super Bowl between the Seahawks and the Broncos. The
Broncos had like that record setting year, um, and I
just had a feeling. I'm saying, you know what, they
might just get blasted like Seattle, because Seattle is they

(01:48:02):
were playing bully football. Well they went and punched him
in the mouth repeatedly, repeatedly, you know, And and I
just look at that even down to you know, also
go to the SUO with the Falcons and the Patriots.
Matt Ryan lights it up that year defense shuts it down, right,
But that's Joey is you know the same thing you

(01:48:24):
have the Rams with that poling offense. Defense came through
and shut it down. I mean, part of it becomes
like we talked about in the NBA and the difference
between regular season and playoff basketball is you're gonna get handsy, right.
That's what that Seattle secondary did said, all right, call
the Holts. Are you gonna call them all? No, you're
not gonna call them. You're not. You're not gonna call
all the contact. That's what the Patriots have done for

(01:48:46):
years now. It's the same thing, especially against the Rams
last year. People crying for a penalty on every play.
It's like they're not gonna call it, so adjust figure
out how to get a guy some space. Tennessee is
dangerous in Tennessee the way they played defensively, playmakers look no,
And this was we were talking a little bit about

(01:49:06):
the Dallas offense earlier, right and putting up all the
points Dak Prescott's numbers and varying degrees of whether you
decide their hollow and what trying to take out meaning
and take out whatever noise there is. But anytime he
was throwing the ball forty eight times. I'm raising my
hand going you have the offensive line and Ezekiel Elliott

(01:49:26):
or what six of your top eight paid players. Likewise,
in Baltimore, your whole time has been about being a bully,
Like what are you saving him for? Rightfte passing attempts
that the whole time you get to halftime, it's fourteen six,
you're one possession away, yet you abandon pretty much all

(01:49:48):
of what you've come with. I was like, dude, I
was like two year. I was like, Lamar j Acton.
I know, of course he's not going to see it,
but I'm like, if i'm him, if I see Man Carverage,
I'm gone nine throwing the ball, I'm gonna go Deshaun
Watson style. I think last year, where everything was on
the line, he was like, I'm just not gonna throw
it if no one's open, and I'm gonna get the
first time, I'm gonna pump fake and I'm gonna go.

(01:50:09):
I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go and and yeah, there
were a lot of like I said, there are a
lot of questionable things. I mean, I'm not taking anything
away from Tennessee at all. They went in there and
beat them down. But there were some things that Baltimore
could have done to help themselves, especially because they had
such a successful season. Um, that's where it just all
goes the wayte now doesn't even matter. Well, it was

(01:50:32):
you and I were looking a bit earlier. I don't
know the official number yet, but we're talking somewhere between
twelve and eighteen unrestricted free agents for Baltimore, many of
whom are on the defensive side of things. So yes,
that gives you an opportunity to go in the marketplace,
but it also disrupts a lot of what you built

(01:50:52):
in that locker room this year. Yeah, I mean a
big help is then they're gonna get Tony Jefferson back
at safety. Um, that's gonna be a big deal because
he he is the one guy that will come downhill
and smack somebody right like he was he would have
been the one guy in that secondary. Um. But it's
gonna be interesting, man, because this this was this was

(01:51:13):
this was the year. This was the chance to do it,
because yeah, will they be competitive? Sure? Will they be
back in this position next year? To be in the
one seed in the a f C. I don't know,
but you're promised nothing in this league. If anything, we
we've learned through the years, go through even some of
the all time greats, it's the they got one shot
and never got back, or they had a great team

(01:51:36):
and never finished a playoff run. Right to go back
to the fourteen and two Chargers, go back to Dan
Marino's second year, it was like, oh, they're they're lightening
it up. They'll get in one vikings, right, I mean
they they couldn't have had a better team to get
it done that. No, that was a fantastic roster on
both sides of the ball, high flying offensive attack and

(01:51:59):
and and couldn't finish. So I mean, you promised nothing.
So I started seeing all the takes. So you had
both ends of the spectrum, right, Lamar's trash, which is
just dumb, and you just missed them. So but it
it gave everybody cause to go see playoff football. But
it goes back to style and we talked about that.
But the other side it was don't worry about it.
He'll still win his handful of Super Bowl rings. Like

(01:52:21):
even I win in Division. Right, and all of this
changes and the NFL, as we know, you can go
worst to first pretty fast. One of the teams that
was right there, uh last year. We'll talk about them
next and the beat down that they put on in
their playoff exhibition yesterday. Will Blackman in with me on
Mike Carmen. I want to hear something amazing. Discovered matches

(01:52:42):
all the cash back here and at the end of
your first year automatically no limit as to how much
we'll match. Millions of people a year getting their cash
back match. Discover cash back Match. What are you waiting for?
Lenmore discovered dot com slash cash back match. Now, let's
go over to Isaac Low and cron I find out
what's trend Michael and Will. It was the result that
shocked the football world Saturday night. As the top seed

(01:53:04):
in the a f C, the Baltimore Ravens lost at
home big to the Tennessee Titans, eight to twelve as
they got trampled by Derrick Henry's one rushing yards. He
also threw a touchdown passed by the way as the
Titans advanced to the a f C Championship game to
face either the Chiefs or the Texans, who meet today
at three oh five Eastern Earlier Saturday, the San Francisco

(01:53:27):
forty Niners advanced to the NFC Championship Game with the
seven to ten win over the Vikings. The forty Niners
will host the Packers or Seahawks, who square off at
six forty Eastern time tonight. Also in the National Football League, Yes,

(01:53:49):
overnight in of all places, Beverly Hills, New England, Patriots
receiver Julian Edelman was arrested for jumping on the hood
of someone's Mercedes. Yes. Edelman was cited for misdemeanor vandalism
and released, but apparently Patriot fans are keeping things in perspective.

(01:54:13):
Edelman reportedly needs to have his knee scoped during the
off season, and among the comments on social media from
Patriots fans guess his n it is good to go
then right and glad to hear Edelman is up and
about good stuff only from New England Patriots fans on
social media. Also in the NBA, Saturday Night, the Los

(01:54:36):
Angeles Lakers without Lebron James and Anthony Davis one anyway
at Oklahoma City one to one ten behind Kyle Kuzma's
season high thirty six. The Lakers thirty two and seven
on an eight game winning Street. And to wrap it up,
Michael and Will just a quick bit of Beverly Hills
nine o two on OH Trivia with a sports connection.

(01:54:59):
You remember David Silver's dad, I think his name was Melson. Yeah,
he went on after nine o two one oh wrapped
to become of all things, the radio sideline reporter for
Duke basketball. Believe it or not. Back to you, I
had no idea. Yeah, that's a good piece of trivia. Thanks.
I thought you were going to give me the obvious. Hey,

(01:55:20):
remember when Steve Young came to Thanksgiving? Since we're gonna
talk about about that, I thought it was just the
obvious back into forty Diners football. But thanks, I appreciate Hey,
quick shout out to um my guys that want exchange,
Tristan Beeman, Kyle Meyer, Hey guys, Patrick Meyer, they're listening.

(01:55:42):
They always listen. Appreciate that they are the ones that
educate this mine, hold it down, always learn it, always learned. Always.
There's dude, there's there's like three thousand great Bavariados in
Italy alone, So what's the difference. So I don't know
those are unaware. Idea was unaware. First level towards becoming

(01:56:04):
a Somalia Will black Man. So, so I'll tell you
in the in the Court of Masters Somalia, you have
the Intro level, which is the exam I just passed.
I was actually in Beverly Hills probably around the same
time that he was. I was. I was having pizza
at Richie Palmer's plays Mulberry Pizza. He actually cleared my table.
Pretty cool. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Um, you have the

(01:56:25):
Intro and the next level is that that's the actual
certification where that's the next level I have, I think
the exams in March. Then after that you can take
your Advance exam. Then after Advance is the actual Master Somalia.
And that's that's like a six percent success rate that exam.
It's only two forty in the whole world in the

(01:56:46):
past like fifty years. That's the goal, squad. Come on, well,
let me get my sirt first. Come on, But what's
the different Like, you went through the first part this week,
So what what's the training, What's what's the for the
next two months? The next part is basically just continue

(01:57:06):
to learn that the theory, all the regions and the
what each region produces the soil tawar all that stuff.
Also being a Somali, it's it's important to uh. The
service part is important because the point of being a
smalther you want to eventually work at a restaurant. Menus.
I don't know if I'm a working in a restaurant,
but also I can be a director, the wine director

(01:57:28):
at a restaurant, wine director, or run your own place
and establishmentory of your teaching about wine, and I will
be I will eventually with my whole NFL one, I
think I will have where you can if you want events,
I'll come and hold down the events. So yes, I
must know service. At NFL Wine Guy learn more about that.
Always please to sit across from him here at Fox

(01:57:51):
Sports Radio Sundays, Will Blackman at Will Blackman on Twitter
and Instagram at NFL Wine Guy find me over at
Small one Dome. We're talking about one side of the
brack it from yesterday and the beat down put on
by the Titans. I don't know if there's enough good
adjectives will run out of them to talk about the
effort of the San Francisco forty Niners outside of one

(01:58:12):
possession the nice response like all right, we got ourselves
a game. Right, forty Niners on their first possession after
three and out, take the ball, go sixty yards score.
Vikings respond, big pass play this Stefon digs. You're like, yeah,
it's all right, we got ourselves something here. And that
was it from then, complete and utter domination on both

(01:58:34):
sides of the ball, the run game in full effect.
Welcome back Tevin Coleman, Welcome back Toevin. But that that
was the dangerous part of the Niners. It's Kyle Shanahan
literally uses, if you're a dressed for that game on offense,
you're you're gonna play and you're probably gonna catch the
catch the ball. Well, and one thing that was brought
up during the broadcast I don't think was highlighted enough

(01:58:55):
as we got towards the end of the season is
how banged up the forty Niners the offensive line been,
even with their success, Right, Stanley missed a ton of
time over the course of the year. So he comes back.
So now you've got him, a guy who's had a
fantastic year career, I should say. And so you have Coleman,
you have mostt Brita eight carry seventeen yards. But still

(01:59:20):
he's a punishing runner. So those those are more the
let's add it up twenty two from Coleman, twelve from Mostart.
But on the other side of things, Dalvin Cook nine
carries eighteen yards all you season long. That was the
only thing you can get against the fortys was they
gave up about four point seven a pop. Is that
you could run on them. Here they took Dalvin Cook

(01:59:41):
away almost in the Belichickian style of all right, go
at a Kirk Cousins, let's see what you can do.
And because once you get that pass rush going and
running downhill, you're in trouble. And that was the big thing.
And and there's there's no secret. I mean, of course,
the obvious is for any quarterback in the history of football,
if the run game is going well, then yes, you

(02:00:02):
have a better chance. We know that, but especially with
this offense, it was extremely, extremely important. What was interesting
about this game too, is there was a lot of um,
I guess part, a lot of branches from the Mike
Shanahan tree that was involved in all of this. You know,
you obviously have have Mike shannonhan Um and then you

(02:00:23):
have his son, by the way, shout out to my
wife Shanna, she just jumped on Instagram life. Um, then
you have Kyle, and Kyle had his you know, McVeigh lafleur,
and then Kirk was with Kyle and McVeigh and Washington,
you know, so a lot of same same going all around.
And UM, I feel like people thought that Kirk would

(02:00:45):
have the upper hand knowing what you know. Oh yeah,
and you got Kubiak whatever title they've given him, but
assistant head coach, I think it is, um but you
have all that, So it was just thing. But I
just felt like it just like maybe they did celebrate
too much last week. That's what I just wondered. You know,

(02:01:07):
they got to the locker room, you had the redux
of you like that, and it just felt like they'd
finished the job, as opposed to, all right, now we
have to go to San Francisco. We gotta keep going.
And it was but they slayed a big beast, right
Kirk Cousins all of the issues of big getting big
time games and big performances, and no Jonas Uh and
r J Bell doing a big thing about how well

(02:01:29):
he plays at one pm Eastern versus other time. It's ridiculous. No,
it's it's absolutely okay, so so funny story. Um, I
remember we were I forget who we're playing. I think
it was Green Bear or somebody. But we had our
pregame meal was at like one o'clock instead of nine,

(02:01:53):
and I remember Kirk was eating eating by himself, and
he was like he was talking to himself. He was like, man,
I just ate these late games, just off by himself. Yeah,
these late games sold. No, I'm just I just want
to go play right now, just play right now. And
it's funny. I heard that. I was like, huh, yeah,

(02:02:15):
he's like sixty against the spread in early games, but
his quarterback rating and all these are like these huge
numbers and then he's against the spread in the afternoon
or evening window. I remember I went, I went upstairs
because we stayed at the hotel in Oxon Hill, and um,
you know I got my wife from him too, because

(02:02:36):
we lived in Ashbury, Virginia. The game is in you know, Maryland,
so she stayed at the hotel. So I went up
and told her that story. It's gonna be interesting tonight.
I don't I don't know, I don't know how it's
gonna go down. I gotta go back and look at
the stats. I know, but yeah, I see that adds
a little more color than that. But I just feel like,

(02:02:58):
because of what happened in the game, it was, it was.
It's extremely New Orleans is totally underrated in terms of
most difficult places to play. It's it's the fans are
right there. If you have family, they're like, good luck,
they better wear Saints Jersey's like it's it's wild, you know.

(02:03:19):
And if you're the lights above, you're catching punts like
I feel like they turn on extra light on and
you can't see they start swirling or something. Oh yeah,
it's nuts, you know. And then you might see a
little black and voodoo doll in the stand out. And
I'm kidding you, Hey, there might be a market for
this patent pending patent and not for you, Will, but

(02:03:40):
for other We'll talk about this idea. Man, that's it.
Maybe that's the next generation of our our business expansion. Will.
How about we just keep getting it done on the
radio and that's eventually, you know, we'll get we'll get
moved up to prime time and hold it down and
bring you know, Vincent Sam with us like three yeah

(02:04:01):
at Will Blackman on Twitter and Instagram at NFL wine
guy find me over at Swollen Dome. Um, that's fascinating story.
Adding more flavor to the Kirk Cousins uh Stu as
it were coming out. Next we will talk about, well,
if your team is out of the playoffs and they're
sitting at home, maybe you want to adopt something that's

(02:04:21):
going on in the great state of Ohio. We'll talk
about it next year on Fox. You're listening to Fox
Sports Radio. Welcome back in Fox Sports Radio. This is
Fox Football Sunday. Mike Carmen alongside Will Blackman having some
fun with you as we get ready for the second
half of the divisional games. Coming up. A little over
three hours from now, we'll have Houston at Kansas City.

(02:04:43):
More on that game coming up in about twenty five
minutes from now. In ten minutes, we'll talk about when
a running back gets dunked one. I know it's a
bad analogy to use the the NBA world, but since
we talked about the smacking, SmackDown running style employed on Saturday,
we'll see how much more finesse and change today. But

(02:05:06):
they need to have a smack as Seattle needs to do.
They didn't have a SmackDown running style. You need that well,
and that's what we'll we'll try to ascertain here as
we have another hour to go here in the show.
Marshawn Lynch, can he be that guy with one week
of practice? I think marsha mat Shawn came in the

(02:05:28):
game and do what he did, get some you know,
some goal line points and dive in midair and and
how about that. That's that's a hard tackle. When he
was a big as do like that in mid air. Yeah,
good luck with that. Well, it goes back to all
the physics people were trying to teach us last week
with Deshaun Watson. But I think this this week gave
him another week to get in shape, uh, in in

(02:05:50):
game shape to you know, carry the football more effectively.
Him and Turban and Homer. So I think you'll see
more and more elaborate style, uh, style of running. Definitely
lots of play action because he's Smith boys, He's Smith
brothers are ready to go. Got to hold him back

(02:06:11):
and keep him on keep on, yeah, yeah, keep him
off balance, chip them, chop them, you know, put him
in courbage if necessary. Uh. The unique thing that happens
with the packages that Mike Petton lines them up in
different places all all over, So that's what's cool. Unique
Pressus Smith, He's able to drop in courbage. He's that athletic.
I was with him on the Redskins, so I'm really

(02:06:32):
happy to see him be successful. But if it comes
down to where it goes back and forth between Aaron
Rodgers and Russell throwing the football, I feel like it's
going to be more so in Aaron's favor. This question
of whether that's Seattle offensive line. I mean, how much
chipping and how much work can you get out of

(02:06:53):
those backs to buy Russell Wilson that extra half second
as well? And you never know, they all of a
sudden just they just might come out of nowhere and
just everyone's hitting on all cylinders. Know how important it
is five guys play together. We'll see if that goes.
How about this one State Medical Board of Ohio. Maybe
you missed this over the course of the week. I
wanted to get Will's perspective on this, considering a petition

(02:07:13):
as to whether Browns or Bengals fandoms should be a
qualifying condition to legally obtain medical marijuana. So they've got
a list of all the because of qualities, well for
being a Browns or Bengals fan. Yeah, depression and long
long suffering. Can you put that and disclose that as
a reason for your illness? Well, then legalize of the players.

(02:07:35):
Who suffers worse? Well, that's what people always want to debate, right,
how much do players suffer with the laws versus we'll
get them next time? I don't know. Oh, that's silly.
Who who did that? I don't know. State Medical Board
of Ohio. People just trying to add things to the petition.
Think about that if you're there. There are some prominent

(02:07:57):
medical buildings there. So twenty eight submissions for potential new
qualifying well, no for new conditions as to whatever is
already on the books. But now they want to add
team fandom, so you can expand this to the Jets,
maybe now the Vikings again, I don't know. College. Thanks

(02:08:19):
man as as always, Sam, I always say I'm on
fire here Fox Football Sunday. He's Will Blackman, I'm Mike
Carmen coming out next we will get back into the
Seattle Green Bay game. Uh. And Aaron Rodgers, what does
this mean for the largest of his career? We get
into it next year? On Fox. You're listening to Fox Sports.

(02:08:41):
Greet eggs. Welcome man. Fox Football Sunday continues. Mike Rman
alongside Will Blackman, twelve years in the league, Super Bowl champion, Buddy,
my partner here at Will Blackman on Twitter and Instagram
at NFL wine Guy where you can find him as well.
Find me over at swollen Over. Three hour till kick off.

(02:09:01):
We just had the great scene of Patrick Mahomes arriving
and got some weather in Green Bay, a lot of
snow on the overnight, so they had all their seven
lined up to go and shovel. You gotta shovel in
twelve bucks an hour. Will My shoveling days are over? Actually,
know what's crazy? I lived in Rhode Island. I lived

(02:09:23):
in Massachusetts. Did you live in Quohog? Let me finish? Okay,
and it's qua Hog. Wow, that's terrible. I lived in
Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Green Bay. Guess where I had
the shovel the most snow Virginia in Virginia, Yes, and

(02:09:45):
you did all yeah. It actually made an event out
of it. The whole community came out. We allay shovel
and I the guy passed out beers and you know,
and who do you to cooler? Just put it in
the snow, right, you were good? That's a good point.
I mean well, I mean that was part of it.
Took me two hours to get wife's truck out of
the parking spot. Two hours. That's a hell of a
lot of shoveling. Okay. I had a back like Lex

(02:10:07):
Luger when I was done. Look at that prime Lex
Luger reference. The torture rack is the finishing maneuver, nicely done.
Probably have a Lex Luger action figure somewhere in a
box at my parents place on a street that come
back out with the wrestling ice cream bars? I know, right?
Is that not cool? It's very cool? Right? That is

(02:10:29):
one that will definitely make its way here to the
Fox Sports radio studios if that comes to fruition. I
would just decapitate the wrestling and then throw the ice
come away. Look at you gave me all. I'm all
dark and twisted and blah blah. Everybody tell you, oh,
you know you're so morbid and you like decapitated dude,

(02:10:49):
and then the rest of the ice cream. I wanted
no part of it. Hey, a guy who got worked
a bit not quite decapitated, but for social media purposes
last night, I guess he did, was Melvin Gordon of
your Los Angeles Chargers, at least for now, waiting to
see what happens here coming up in the off season.

(02:11:10):
But yesterday he went in on Twitter, and as we
watched the celebration of Derrick Henry in the run game
for the Tennessee Titans, and certainly also earlier the San
Francisco forty Niners and what you saw from Tevin Coleman
and where he mostered, Gordon took the Twitter saying quote
we ain't needed with a pensive emoji, but a running

(02:11:32):
back carrying this whole team through the playoffs now was
light hundred times. It was retweeted five five times, only
two hundred comments, but most of them dragging Melvin Gordon
for his holdout, for his performance, for issues at the
one yard line, you name it as it went down.
Will just seem one of those you take the l
and your back off to you just you don't he

(02:11:55):
has to mute that conversation. Okay, that's that's a tough one.
You have to Lauren how to do it, and you
have to learn from the master, and the master is
is Richard Sherman right now, because he has every single
thing to back it up. You can't see anything to
him because if you do, he has he has proof.

(02:12:16):
So we can say, like the whole thing about you know,
being your own agent, betting on yourself, you know, got
hammered for it. Yeah, it was a risk, but it
worked out for him. But in the end, if he's
happy with the deal, right, and he had incentive, but
he but he he still had to like play his
behind us, right. So but that was the point when

(02:12:40):
it came down and that contract was signed. We'll hear
from Richard Sherman in the second when because I know
that was a big deal. Was that two weeks ago
where that really blew up again? And I remember it
at the time and people were mad about It's like,
all right, so he cut out an agent and and
maybe maybe there's something a devil in it. He looks
you can hire a lawyer to look over attracts plenty

(02:13:00):
of people that do contract all to protect yourself. I
have an outside source that looks at my you know,
other deals right now, right, here's another look. See just
make sure am I missing something? Is there? Something in
the language where him like a grant as opposed to
paying of your whatever multimillion dollar or whatever it is.
Contract right, And in the end, if you were happy
enough to sign it, then you live up to that contract, right,

(02:13:23):
and whatever incentives are built in, whatever opportunities or limitations
or stipulations there are, it's all him right. He spoke
for himself, negotiated and went through. So if he's happy
with the end result, everybody else can argue about what
quote he should have gotten. You don't know, you're not
in those negotiations because even if you can't compare them

(02:13:44):
one to one, contracts are not the same. And people
try to do it and break that down all the time.
Cornerback one versus cornerback too. Well, there's different thing. Thing.
I didn't want to go off on that. It was
just a matter of if you're gonna go on there
and be like this is why X, Y and Z, well,
this is why you know, go and back it up.

(02:14:05):
We'll get to the Richards Sherman sound as you were
talking about a backing it up in just a moment.
But we've got some breaking news. We gotta go over
to Isaac Loencron breaking news from Fox Sports. Ian rap
report of NFL media just reported that the Cleveland Browns
are planning to hire Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski as

(02:14:30):
their new head coach. Fellas, thank you, Ilo. Well, there's
a little bit of a different direction in things, and
now the wheels starts spinning of what it means on
the NFL overall. So Stefanski, we watched the offense over
the course of the year with Dalvin Cook when healthy,
Dalvin Cook a beast with theeln digs Kyle Rudolph to

(02:14:55):
a lesser extent, and Kirk Cousins big time production at times,
but now gets the keys to the Cleveland Browns kingdom,
according to this report from Ian Rappaport. And you've got
skilled positions players for days, but elevating. I mean, I
guess you saw enough from the development of Kirk Cousins
under him to to Warrant saying, hey, he can go

(02:15:16):
fix Baker Mayfield. Well, if you if you want to
go player for player, you can say that you know,
Baker and Kirk are similar and what they can do.
Probably Baker's more mobile. Um Adam thiln O b j
m hm. You know obviously O B J is way
more dynamic, but similar like rot running styles in terms

(02:15:39):
of how they get open, can catch anything um and
then in terms of like that aggressive catch, you know,
run the difficult routes, cash those slants in between between,
you know, linebackers, gigs, Landry, good comparisons right on right top.
He was leading the league for a little bit at
Russian dalb a Cook. You got Chubb and you got

(02:16:01):
Kareem Hunt and in theory you getting Joku back off injury.
But at the end of the day, it's not about
X and os. It's can you be the leader of
this team and you know, hold everyone accountable and be disciplined?
Can you coach this team like I could? I could
go to Cleveland and right now and draw up some

(02:16:22):
great place. Well you got a lot of talent? Yeah, absolutely,
as I got five guys that can line up and
protect and I legit right now, can go to Cleveland
and get us get production as a as a play caller.
Now what happens if we're not getting production and people
are getting ticked off and now everyone is starting to

(02:16:43):
start a point things and get upside of each other.
It's like Kin's kins the fancy coming there and change
the culture. That is the problem at the end of
the day. It is not talent. It's not so much
play calling. It is Okay, are we gonna come out
the first game and get ten penalties? Right? Well, I
mean we had a four. I mean that would be
half of what they did. I mean the first game

(02:17:04):
and an ejection right and kicked somebody in the face. Yeah,
the whole Miles Garrett thing. That's another that happened later,
But that's just there. You go through there, the entirety
of their season and really going on for years with Haslim,
it's always the question of does he change his mind
right and what which direction he wants to go? Is
seemingly you get you brought in a personnel guy in
Dorsey to where it seemed like all right, you put

(02:17:27):
the executive in charge that now builds and they put
together a great array of skill position players, but there
was no adult in the room. I feel like, this
is who we wanted last year, Hasselm. I think hasn't
wanted to Foski last year that this is the guy.
And instead he listened and and they listened to Baker Mayfield.
Because of the success that they had. I guess so,

(02:17:48):
like I said, I feel like he had a lot
of power and and what's being said, and it proves
because there hasn't been one, not one person that building
was like yo, like like chill out man. I never
understood that. Like, and I know Dorsey is a GM
you don't get in front of the microphone as much.
But we never had the back channel reports of him

(02:18:09):
trying to take over, whether it be Freddie Kitchens and
shutting him up like he was just a buy time
to hopefully get somebody else. But we'll see, I mean,
we'll see, you know. Is interesting. It's just interesting because
we're talking a little bit about the Ravens and the
loss and people trying to put big, grandiose statements on

(02:18:33):
what it means for Lamar Jackson and company. And I
can only bring it back to you know, we we
do the euphemism in our lives of hey, we're not
promised tomorrow and it's reality, right, you don't know what
the day is gonna bring and what's sun up tomorrow does.
But likewise, in the NFL year to year, teams changed
so quickly. There's so much turnover in free agency and

(02:18:55):
aptitude and ability for players and the rest of your
divisions Lash Conference catching up and maybe passing you by.
Cleveland assembled one hell of a roster of skill position players.
Yeah right, And is Stefansky part of his initial job
not only getting getting ahold of Baker Mayfield and saying

(02:19:15):
all right, here's what's expected, but also probably trying to
allay whatever issues are going on with O O B
J as well. Well, that's what made the Cleveland job
so attractive for for Dorsey. I mean he literally had
a blank canvas, tons of pick, tons of cap. Yeah,
we can say, you know, kudos to the previous regime,
but um, for him to go there, yes, you had

(02:19:36):
to hit in every pick and I think he did
a fantastic job steal being Nick Chubb in the second Um.
But yeah, that's okay. You got, like I said, you
gotta play caller. Cool now you gotta have He's got
to be the adult in the room. And I guess
that's why because he had to say here because they
can they can look over at um what should Hogo

(02:20:00):
did and he gotta they gotta play caller or what
Green Bay did? They went and got a play caller.
But those teams didn't have culture issues, right, they didn't
you know, they didn't have those things going on there. Um,
they just had Okay, how can we find waste schematically
to maximize what we have? That was that was their deal.
Cleveland doesn't have that problem. Cleveland's got a multi generational

(02:20:23):
I mean, that's why they were petitioning to have Weed well.
I mean that that's what we're talking about, is that
fans Long suffer because it is supposed to be the
year I didn't buy. I still had him third in
the division, thinking Pittsburgh before Ben Roethlisberger's injury, and even
it was gonna go one way or the other right,
either at all clicks or or it burns, and it
burned week after. It was like that, like a boxer

(02:20:46):
going for the knockout and all of a sudden he
just gases out. Either he's gonna get a knocker or not,
and you wasted a fantastic year from your run game.
I mean, Nick Chubb was right. This was the year
the North was was I like, was wide open. They
got the win against Baltimore and just like Tennessee did, right,
That shows you, yeah, right exactly, that shows you right

(02:21:08):
there that win against Baltimore is like they are way
more than capable. You know, Oh b J barely got
a thousand yards this year? Yeah you got there? What
week seventeen? I think, right? But yeah, it's interesting, right
because the obvious fallout becomes wasn't this supposed to be
Josh McDaniel's job, So back to New England, back to

(02:21:30):
the drawing board doesn't lend a little more credence to
all Right, the band gets back together for one more run.
Maybe Tom Ki's messing with them. I feel like after
they lost to the Eagles in Super Bowl, I thought,
I thought, if they won that year, everyone's going to
take off Ryan to the sunset. Hence Josh, you know,
going for the coach job. And Tom's like, guys, guys,

(02:21:54):
come come out, come back, Guys, come back, Guys, come back.
Let's let's do it against do it again. Then they
went and they do it again this year. I feel
like it once again, let's get number seven ride. You know,
Josh is gonna do with interviews. Everyone's gonna get you know,
do the interviews. Check it out. Last year it was
Brian floor As that left went to Miami, and then

(02:22:14):
Tom's like all right, guys, bring it back, bring it
back in, bring it back in. I don't know, maybe
the band gets back together one more time. And I
didn't say higher who Okay, who's gonna be a d C.
That's the question. That is a fantastic question. We'll keep
an eye on this as it develops. We'll get back
into the Richard Sherman side of things. Betting on yourself

(02:22:39):

back in Fox Sports Radio. This is Fox Football Sunday
having some fun with you. Mike Carmen alongside Will Blackman
at Will Blackman on Twitter and Instagram at NFL wine guy.
We are tracking the world of the NFL, breaking news

(02:23:23):
coming down early on a Sunday morning for you ahead
of these final two divisional playoff games. As the Cleveland
Browns have decided on their man. Kevin Stefanski, thirty seven
year old coordinator for the Vikings. We just talked about

(02:23:43):
the dud he laid last last night. Sixty eight yards
after their second drive. That's right, that's all they manage.
Seven play, seventy nine yard touchdown drive, a big play
to Stefon Diggs, and then a lot of three and outs,
only seven first downs achieved. But now the head coach,
reportedly from Ian Rappaport of your Cleveland Browns, and as

(02:24:07):
you laid out, will a lot of one to one
comparison of from a personnel standpoint of what you're able
to do and what you see. But certainly a lot
of heads scratching this morning on some guys that didn't
get hired, a lot of head scratching. Um you know,
I I rallied for and it wasn't so much of

(02:24:27):
because um loud and and I want to I'm really
you know, slamming my fist on the table for the
Rooney rule. I just thought, just looking at all the
coaching candidates, I really thought Eric Binomy was a great
candidate to be in Cleveland. Um, you know in that
in that offense with with Andy Reid and um, I

(02:24:50):
felt like he definitely was a man of character from
a player. Uh, guys respected him. I mean his relationship
with Adrian Peterson is one to be noted. Um. Yeah,
I mean he was interesting. I I don't know. My
biggest thing is you can go in there and and
call plays, have a potent offense, but is it gonna

(02:25:14):
fix the cultural issues on that team? And we for example,
it looks like at Dallas the number one offense right
not in the playoffs? What's going on? So what they do?
They go higher man with some pedigree. Well, and we
watched it over the course of the season, right much

(02:25:34):
many times the video. It was very damning to Jason
Garrett through the year, right that he'd lost respect, he'd
lost the locker, whatever phraseology you want to put on it. Right,
defense coming off after a big stop and he's trying
to raw raw, putting the fist him. Guys looking the
other way, walking past or looking back at their team

(02:25:55):
and like, what are we doing here. Yeah, I mean
you feel bad and then you you look at Cleveland
like everyone's yelling at Freddy on the sideline, right, I mean,
just one after another and Jervis Landry probably just goes
to work, right and he got he Jervis Landry is
one of the hardest working receivers I ever had to
defend because past play, he ran all day long, run play,

(02:26:19):
he blocked all day long. I mean, right here, I
got a huge callous in my finger. I snapped my
finger in half because trying to get off a block,
my finger got caught in his jersey. This and this
was run away. This is a run to him. Usually
run yeah, run to you want to block. Shout this
is this was like a pitch to the complete opposide
of the field. And he was blocking me like I mean,

(02:26:40):
like it was no tomorrow. It wasn't an issue of
him being such a diva. He was just But my
point is everyone everyone was yelling at Freddy. There were
so many things that was I wasn't sure if it
wasn't an issue of talent. It was just so my
thing is I just I just tweeted out, I'm like, dude,
this is not me you know, being arrogant, I talking trash.

(02:27:03):
I I legit could go to Cleveland right now and
have a successful offense. I could, I could coach a
top ten offense. The issue would be what happens when
somebody is upset with something? What happens if something is online?
What happens if a fight breaks out? What happens if
there's a contract dispute, What happens if somebody one of
our star plays deal with an injury? You know, how

(02:27:25):
do I handle that? Look at you? Look at somebody
like Mike Tomlin. I mean that's the perfect example. What
has he not dealt with since being the coach? Look
at the cast of characters that have been in in
through those doors through the years, right all your star players,
and go back and I want a book on the

(02:27:45):
seen season season even before that, I mean, he's dealt
with his two two biggest players that he had been
the Roethlisberger had some legal stuff, legal stuff off field,
Antonio Brown had some, Tina Brown has some Antoner Brown
some legal stuff. You know, there's been trades, there had
been this and that. They all kinds of stuff going
on that you got. He's dealt with everything. Mark Tavis Bryant.

(02:28:09):
You had Levy on Bell missing games due to suspension
of things, sorts of things that to navigate, never below
eight and eight McCarthy, as you mentioned, you know, going
to Dallas, you know what you're getting with him, and
he's been to the top of the mountain right now.
And a lot of the criticism or or questions when
it came to the enemy was, well, he didn't call

(02:28:30):
plays like well and well right, and in Minnesota, I
want you know you raise your handling. Well, you got
Gary Kubiak over the top, so there right, So you
got that whole equation as you go as well. So
when these hirings go down, reasons why not. Obviously we're

(02:28:50):
not in the room, we don't know the conversations, and
we don't know the mindset necessarily. This just looked like
a one for one swap to a lot of it
when you go to clear When Richard Sherman, as we
were talking about him a little bit earlier, he tweets out, wow,
just wow, jes wo W guess I should have expected
it wow, and leaving it at that. So certainly it's

(02:29:14):
going to be the next iteration of the discussion because
there's a lot of fallout that goes down with this.
As to coordinators going back, what does it mean for
the Patriots as we talked about, probably means you're leaning
towards keeping the band together for one more go around
in Minnesota? Does does this signal anything on Mike Zimmer's
job right because he was on the code hot seat?

(02:29:36):
They win one playoff game, does that get him off it? Uh?
I don't think he's on the hot seat. No, not
at all because everything, everything is still there. They're not
They're not far off. I mean they went and got
a signature win, and yeah they went to San fran
And and did not do well. But they're not. They're not.
They're far off. It's always that question of a two B,
B two C and when you decide that definitely worked

(02:29:58):
Terence Newman. That was interesting, you see, Uh, they worked
them out. Corner Teren Stimmans as old as I am.
They worked him out. About that from Dallas. That's kind
of interesting. Longer two thousand three in the league, that's
a long, long run. Good for him. I guess at

(02:30:22):
Will Blackman where you find him on Twitter and Instagram
at NFL wine guy find me over at swall window. Hey,
great news, quick and easy way you could save money.
You can switch to Geico. It only takes fifteen minutes
to see if you could save fift or more on
your car insurance. Gonna Geico dot com see how much
you could save. I mean, really, I just wanted to
see Sala promoted to the next job, because you want

(02:30:45):
to talk about a guy who's a good hype man
and culture guy. And we saw him taking a phone
call yesterday, right he was captured as he was coming
out of the locker room, and I was wondering what
it was all about. Well, not the headman in Cleveland. Uh,
this time a ound will continue with Richard Sherman and
his response to the forty niners big win of yesterday

(02:31:07):
and moving on. That's coming up Max, But first it's
isaacloa grown with a much trending starting off in Cleveland.
I'm sure indeed. Michael and will I and Rappaport reporting
that the Cleveland Browns have selected Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator
Kevin Stefanski is their new head coach. Stefanski, thirty seven
years old, had been a Vikings assistant coach since two
thousand and six on the field Saturday night, Derrick Henry

(02:31:29):
of the Tennessee Titans ran for one and even threw
a touchdown pass as Tennessee knocked out the one seed
in the a f C. The Ravens in Baltimore no
less twenty eight to twelve, advancing to the a f
C Championship Game to face either the Kansas City Chiefs
or the Houston Texans, who meet today at three oh
five Eastern at Arrowhead. Earlier Saturday, the forty Niners advanced

(02:31:53):
to the NFC Championship Game with the seven to ten
victory over the Minnesota Vikings. They'll host the Packers or
the Hawks in the NFC Championship Game next Sunday. It'll
be Green Bay hosting Seattle today at lambeau Field, coming
up at six forty eastern. And finally, also in the NFL, Oh, Lord,

(02:32:13):
won't you by me a Merseies bands? Yes. Patriots receiver
Julian Edelman arrested overnight in Beverly Hills for jumping on
the hood of someone's Mercedes bends and causing damage. He
was cited for misdemeanor vandalism and Lord, what a Mercedies bands?

(02:32:34):
Thank you? Janet and now back to you, Michael and
Will Wow little Janice Joplin as we get things rolling,
Janice not Janet. Here on Fox Stoords Radio, I listened
to Liam Malone. Did I say Janet and not Jane Janet? Jacally,
that's not her, Miss Jackson. If you're nasty jee Isaac

(02:32:56):
Lowen Cross, Oh my apologies, thanks, Hilo, appreciate you. Mike
Garmen alongside Will Blackmen having some fun with you. We've
got the word out of Cleveland they've got their head coach,
reportedly Kevin Stefanski from the wonderful world of the Minnesota Vikings.

(02:33:17):
He moves on it. Well, winn in doubt. Just say
big brother in the holding company, you'll be all right.
Oh nicely done, well played. Yeah. I like that now.
So we're we're tracking the next level, right because obviously
the other thing the Browns need is they need to
find themselves a a fun and exciting new GM to
pair with their shining new coach. So we're keeping an

(02:33:40):
eye on reports out of Cleveland. Who was there? He's
he's a possible from Philadelphia. That is hard. Yeah. So
they requested permission on Saturday to interview him, So potentially
that's where the pairing occurs. So we'll see. So the
coaching hires Ron RIVERAA WA Washington, Mike McCarthy to Dallas,

(02:34:02):
Matt Rule goes down with a giant pile of cash,
Uh to Carolina, and decisions on their quarterback to come
Joe Judge to the Giants and to the Browns Stefanski.
We'll get to Richard Sherman in just a second, because
I think it's an important minute of audio as a
guy in his career, and Will's got great insight on
this rule and judge their speeches, they sounded more like

(02:34:24):
I need booster money to build a facility or I'm
trying to recruit you to my college. Well, I mean,
look look at those hires. Okay, let's go to Let's
let's start the actually have the whole pretty much most
of the East NFC East that the Redskins higher, right, Well,
what was what do you think the issues were on
the Redskins? What would you say? Well, you got instant

(02:34:45):
inconsistency at the quarterback position. Guys can't stay healthy. So
Adrian Peterson is there's your run game. Defensively, defensive backfield
struggled I mean they're just but even bigger than schematically.
It's just once again, it's their culture. You know, well
it's Daniel Snyder. Bruce Island's famous quote during the his
his his A press conference was the coach was pretty

(02:35:06):
damn good. Well it wasn't because your coat, your hair,
coach is gone and now and now he's gone. You know,
you get some You get somebody in here who's well respected,
who can tell everyone to be quiet. They're gonna listen
and have some pedigree. They get Ron Rivera. Okay, you
go to Dallas. They have talent, but for some reason,
they just can't figure it out. They can't put it

(02:35:26):
all together. It's like they have a band full of
like great musicians, but they're all playing attitude. No one's
in sync, you know, and they just can't figure it out.
So you go get Mike McCarthy once again, a guy
who has done it, a guy who has been there,
a guy who has integrity, a guy who's well respected.
You know, you go get him their culture. You go

(02:35:50):
to the Giants. You know, I don't know much about Judge,
but he did come from New England. Is you know
you have that on your Alabama before that exactly, so
you have that on your resume. And here's the thing
too about hiring special team coaches. Those guys you are
pretty much another head coach. They call a special team
because it's literally another team within the team, a sub team,

(02:36:12):
if you will, And it's a whole. Every time we
start those special team meetings, the coach, every every time
I've been on the coach goes, hey, okay, guys, switch
gears now, like, let's get focused on a special team.
It's not like your position on defense or offense, like
special teams as a whole entity. So I hear, I
hear that, and then go to Carolina tepping. His whole

(02:36:32):
thing was he wanted old school toughness, rule right, old school,
old line coach, innovative process. Goes to Baylor and flips
the script and changes that for them, And so I
see he got exactly what he was looking for. And yes,
I'll take care of you, like let's go, we'll build
a business. Right. So it's coming from a business mindset

(02:36:56):
because that's the way he approached making a decision. Don
Ron Rivera, Right, It's like, here's where we are, here's
where I want to be, and rule did it at
Temple a couple of ten winning seasons, and then he
goes and Baylor, which was after the Art Briles. It
was how do we turn this around? And and a
positive and so everyone the analytics and everything else that

(02:37:17):
he's got going away from the coaching side, so every
everything was clear in terms of what each team was looking.
I can say the Giants wanted everyone's still on the
side because his name came out of nowhere. Um, but
Cleveland is what is your what is your plan? You
interviewed everybody you can think of. It was twelve verse
exactly like what is your plan? Are you waiting for

(02:37:39):
someone to go in there and be like just while
you like, what is your plan? And like your issues?
Where if you're looking for a business perspective, like look
what you what your issues were? You know? And it
was it was a culture thing. I spoke to a
coach in the beginning of the season and I was like, man,
you guys look good this year. He goes, yeah, but

(02:38:00):
I'm I'm nervous about the culture. I'm nervous to see
what's gonna happen, you know, because yeah, we got a
lot of piece it can go well and that's and
I thought about that too. I was like, man, I
heard it from somebody in the building. You know, it's
funny because you we to talk about Dallas, right, and
you bring in McCarthy and and we we've gotten into
the garret stuff a little bit today, but we look

(02:38:21):
at how they reacted because coming into the year, if
you said, all right, give me your all fifty three
and kind of rank them where you're at, right, Dallas
and Philadelphia were pretty pretty much on everybody's lists coming
in healthy would have been in the top ten, right,
And Philadelphia is set by injuries all the way that
Josh McCown story, but he's playing the second half with

(02:38:43):
his hamstring off the bone in the whole nine yard,
I mean, and they were still one play away from
advancing with the littany bodies. You talk about what Doug
Peterson and what that locker. I respect all the injury
stories that come out, but everyone is no one's healthy.
Everyone gets jacked up. Dude, sure, but you're you're missing bodies,
but you still have five place bodies. And because it

(02:39:03):
I got to imagine week eight, Week nine, it's pretty
easy for a team to go, hey, man, this is
just not our year. Look at everybody's hurt. We're down
to our fifth receiver, literally everything out of that roster, right,
So I mean you have that or you have these
other places where you got a bunch of talent. You're like,
all right, where's the missing ingredient? Right? Because when nobody
ever comes into the year saying they've got an all

(02:39:25):
fifty three that you're thrilled about. Never that dude, that's
I'm glad you said that. I I spoke to after
the two thousand sixteen season on the Redskins. I remember
I met with Jake Gruden in his in his office
and he looked up he had like our roster and
we had like New England's roster, And basically it was like,

(02:39:47):
if we go player for a player, we're we're legit
knowing had a bunch of outcasts to your point, like
they don't have they don't have like stud first round.
There's all over the place on that team. What happened
just guys walk into that culture, that building, and they

(02:40:08):
maximize everything that they have and guys guys get it
and they totally end up buying in. And you can
see that's why the same teams are always in it,
and now you have a guy who's you know, we've
always criticized what happens when guys leave New England to coach.
Now you've got Mike Vrabel, at least for the moment.
Looks like Tennessee has taken on a lot of that

(02:40:30):
New England person They've taken out all of Rabel's personality.
And if you look at the guys on that team, though,
like those are the type of players individually that could
do it, you know, And I can say I could
say the same for for Philly. They had every reason
to mail it in this year, every reason to make

(02:40:52):
up any excuse, but they didn't. They lost their they
lost their starting receivers, all three of them kept going.
Miles Sanders becomes a three runner out of the backfield, right,
Jordan Howard, the guy's going up Boston Scott becomes and
he's my height, so I gotta cheer for him. What

(02:41:13):
it is find the little guys. He's a little black,
but I'll b commen. I wanted to get to this
really quick. We've got Richard Sherman yesterday right, nobody counted
out the defense. We love the defense, but you always
try to find in the analysis why he's always good.
And here's Richard Sherman's response. I get tired of hearing, oh, man,
he's his own corner. I get tired of hearing the
excuses for why I'm great. It was man coverage. I

(02:41:34):
covered the man. I picked the ball off in the playoffs,
in big games, I show up. I'll show up year
and year out, whether it's two thousand and eleven, two
thousand twelve, two thousand thirteen, two thousand and fourteen, unless
I tear my achilles. I'm out there and I'm doing
my job at a high level, and I think I
get tired of the excuses, you know, for what why
I'm good. Oh my god, they're playing on Oh my god,
it was this guy. Oh my god, receiver slipped. Oh

(02:41:56):
my god. It's it's like, why why don't other people
who get those offs? You know what I mean. It's
a lot of the corners out there who have the
same outside have you know. It's it's odd, it's it's
it's like people got frustrated that I was so confident
early on in my career. I was so confident early
on so that people wanted me to fail and when
I didn't fail, It's like, how do we tear him
down in other ways? How do we find a way
to tear him down? You know, I mean, how do

(02:42:16):
we find a way to rip this game apart? Because
I'm too consistent on a year in, year out basis.
You know, since I got in the league, every category
that matters to a corner, I'm number one in well
and as we were talking about a little bit earlier,
will for those that that missed it. I mean Richard
Sherman Brash Bravado took to Twitter here about the the
hiring in Cleveland, but generally he's not the guy too

(02:42:41):
to initiate in these kinds of exchanges with media with
other players. He just finishes. Uh, he does, he does her.
The thing is he has for Ammo like it's it's
he's lock and loaded for for anything. And that has
been the knock is when, especially those years when Seattle
was dominating, Everyone's like, oh, they're just sitting in his

(02:43:03):
own playing cover three. They're playing cover three. You know,
Richard Sherman stays on the left side. He never travels.
He never travels. But when the ball is thrown, guess
what he makes The play. When the ball is thrown
to his side, he makes the play. There was one
game I remember Wait Pittsburgh traveled to Seattle and Richard
Sherman shadowed and Tonio Brown the whole day and made

(02:43:27):
it living hell for a b abe. Had thing has
sixty yards. Richard's like, what else do you want? Now?
I'm gonna go back to playing the left side. I
answered that check playing to the left side of the field.
And he's absolutely right, because there are guys who do
get the same amount of opportunities in terms of the
ball thrown at them, and you still got to make

(02:43:47):
the play. Um, whether it's say, say if he did
play zone a lot, you still gotta put yourself in position.
You still got to anticipate, still know what's gonna happen,
still know the ball is gonna come. Still, you know,
you look at someone like who was great in his
own Ronde Barber just owned Tampa two and picked everything off. Dude.

(02:44:12):
It's it's funny people they try to find a reason.
Same thing in boxing. I was like bringing up boxing.
Maybe you know he has he dismantled everybody. I don't
care who he fought. It's surgeon like he doesn't. He
doesn't want to watch film. Right. It doesn't have to
be pretty, it's just gotta be effective. And in the end,
the forty Niners move on in a workman like fashion

(02:44:34):
with the run game, Jimmy g doing what he needs
to take care of the ball and smothering Kirk Cousins.
Fantastic effort from them. Over on who's winning today? Who's
winning the national title? We're talking about that coming up next?
Has we come to the Alive from the Geico Fox
Sports Radio studios. He's World black But I'm Mike Harman
and this is Fox Sports Radio. You're listening to Fox
Sports Radio Gratings. Welcome back in Fox Sports Radio. This

(02:44:59):
is Fox Football's Sunday Mike Harmon, Will Blackman with you.
Coming up a lot ten minutes from now, you get
Steve Hartman and Richard orn Berger. They'll take you in
the game time. Working about a little over two hours
from kickoff Houston and Kansas City. So why don't we
start there? Will as we get into the picks and
final analysis of these games ahead to today and then

(02:45:19):
obviously the national title game, the end of our playoff
run in college football for but Houston against Kansas City
back in Week six, forty minutes of time of possession
and awful lot of Carlos Hide, thousand yard rusher, unheralded
UH pick up. Right, he was fourth on the depth
chart of these Chiefs when things got underway, and now

(02:45:41):
here we are. He's gonna be key to what Deshaun
Watson does today. He's gonna be important the football. He's
gonna be important and controlled the football. Keep the football,
Hold onto the football because if you give the homes
the ball, he will throw up for seventy yards and
it's a touchdown. Because we're talking about the skill position players.
Nicole Hardman becoming a handful of opposite Tyreek Hill as

(02:46:04):
this season wore on, I mean as it went on,
because Tyreek Hill wasn't there, right, Tammy Watkins was going off.
Remember that one game. I'll tell you what, that three
touchdown game was one of the UH finest things we've
seen in recent mom and went off because he can
go off. David Williams is gonna go off. There's a
lot going on. All home run hitters, right, you got

(02:46:25):
five of them. But DeShawn Watson saved Bill O'Brien's job.
Throw away the script and just let DeShawn Watson play ball.
Now from all reports will fall full are going to
give it a go. It's all good, but he's they're not.
DeShawn Watson is there. I'll take Houston plus the nine
and a half, but I think Kansas City still wins
the game. What say you? Kansas City? Kansas City finishing

(02:46:51):
and they will face the Tennessee Titans in Kansas City.
Andy Reid also, this is one we talked about pressure
points in the playoffs. You got Andy Reid on the
in this game, five hundred career record in the playoffs
for him, I mean, Mahomes is his last chance because
you're not gonna get another quarterback like Mahoms after this. No,

(02:47:13):
that's it. And you're also gonna have to pay him
two hundred million dollars years. Yeah, you'll be all right,
and then you figure out your roster from there. Uh
Seattle on the road at Green Bay, we talked about
the shovelers. They got the job done. It's gonna be
called bit of wind Russell Wilson with his speedsters down field.
Just a question of how much he gets out of
the run game again to keep Aaron Jones and the

(02:47:34):
Green Bay run game off the field, WHOA, I don't know, man.
Russell Wilson got one more. He's another something else bag.
He goes in to that category of the the Russell
Wilson deshow Watson Carson wentz like, I don't need much.

(02:47:54):
Just give me a chance to give me a fourth.
Four don't much. I can go into the cabinet, which's
nothing but bread, peanut, butter, you know, and maybe some
other things in there that that we we I'll make
some exquisite French toast and and something from it and
knock it down there you go, gourmet meal. They find
a good if they have wine, you know, If not,
I'll get great. I'll make wine myself exactly. So I

(02:48:18):
got Packers, I got the Packers winning. I Seattle like
Russell Wilson is just always fascinating to watch with me.
And I'm a big fan of what DK Metcalf has
become to that offense, Hollister, I fake sneaky play here
at tight end. If you're doing your daily Fantasy World. Uh,
last but not least, Clemson l s U Trevor Lawrence
Dabbos Swiney, been there, done that all the fights, all

(02:48:41):
the battles against Joe Burrow and O Geron and those
L s U Tigers Tigers v. Tigers. I got Clemson
winning out right. I got L L s U finishing
the job both teams fourteen and oh and we could
do Edo. Because now what will happen is all the

(02:49:04):
reports in l A will be all about ed O
being the guy that got away and that they're still
stuck with Clayheltons. All good, It's all good. He's world
black men. I'll myke Garment enjoy the games today here
