(00:44):
are live from the Geico Studios, where fifteen minutes can
save you fifteen cent more in car insurance. For more information,
visit Geiko dot com. And so far, My Cowboys, Mike
Carmen my Cowboys because I picked him to win tonight.
I said New Orleans is due for a stinker. The
(01:04):
Cowboys are gonna play physical. They will find a way
to have Ezekiel Elliott to run the football and have
a good game. All of these things happen when I
picked them to play well on Thursday night. This is
what happens. Hand off to Tamara, He's stops line. The
interior of the Dallas defense left by DeMarcus Lawrence delivers
(01:27):
a goal line stand New Orleans, passing up a potential
field goal to go for the touchdown. The Cowboys stop him.
In the first half, New Orleans held scoreless for the
first time in seventy one games and a half. They
have just kicked the field goal, but they trail the
Cowboys thirteen three in the third quarter. And I am
(01:49):
feeling like I know everything in the world about everything
about that. You got Drew Brees now up to eleven
of eighteen on the night, sixty nine yards. He was
dominated in the first half. They were aided on this
drive by a penalty as he was scrambling a bit.
Uh but earlier, you know, think we play the camera
play and people immediately, oh, you gotta take the points
(02:11):
like you're the Saints, You're Sean Payton. You have this
offensive line. If I had seen another graphic and I'd
printed them all out, I could have built a nice
big house with the number of those out there. Every
news source, Hey do you know about the New York
New Orleans Saints line? Here, let me give you some
more stats about how good they are. So run behind
(02:34):
them and take your shot and then say, hey, Dak Prescott,
you need to go against us, right, I mean, you've
played well on defense all year. I mean, that's the thing.
This has been a balanced team is brilliantly as the
offensive played, New Orleans Saints defense has played well over
the course of this run as well. So for Sean Payton,
(02:55):
seemed like an easy move. Now you take the three
points down thirteen three, got a little bit of a
drive going, starting to show you can make subtraction. But
DeMarcus Lawrence looking like a genius here, choke you out.
I will choke you out. Ahead. Wait, let's realize I'm
the one looking like a genius two days ago. Two
(03:16):
days ago, you were walking stop stay, can't beat anybody.
And then you come back and then you pick a
win your Cowboys. Stop. Of course, you expect one of
the best players on the team to pick his team
to win. You need somebody who was standing in part.
He didn't just calling them to win, he was he
(03:37):
was gonna choke him out. That guy say he's gonna
go and choke dudes out. Not the actual choking out,
but I mean, but you expect that. You need someone
who really ain't knows what they're talking about. B is
very impartial to this and see because you know I'm serious,
because I've picked against the Cowboys and told you how
overrated they are and stink all season long. The act
(04:00):
that I told you the Cowboys were gonna win this
game and they're doing exactly as I said was gonna happen.
The Saints were gonna be due for a stinker. And
that's what's happening right now. Drew Brees not even over
seventy yards passing sixty nine yards. You can say Gronk
would be excited. Well, because if I say it and
we don't hear a Gronk drop, I get a little
you know, I don't know. I don't want to put
pressure on tight shirt this early in the show to
(04:21):
have the Gronk thing, right, I think that's what we do.
So Drew Brees number one happening Saints to do for
a stinker. The Cowboys will be able to use Ezekiel
Elliott and move the football. He's got forty yards rushing
and he's got fifty yards receiving. He is playing extremely well.
Dak Prescott was gonna make plays enough plays get outside
the pocket. He ran for a big first down. He
(04:42):
is playing well and most importantly, the Cowboys defense was
gonna be physical and every play they are in the
Saints backfield very early. When when Drew Brees drops back
to pass, he does not have that time. They can't
get the ball downfield. How many times have you seen
him check down and here's Comara, here's Camara, and the
Cowboys are right there for that. The Cowboys defense is
(05:03):
playing phenomenally. Everything I said was gonna happen, because I
know what's gonna happen is happening right now. Now. The
Cowboys just gotta hold on for another twenty four minutes.
It's only it's only twenty four and change, Cowboys, But
your Cowboys Ezekiel Elliott already creeping towards a hundred total
yards on the night. He did have the touchdown reception
of the first half. Dak Prescott rarely above two hundred
(05:24):
yards for the first half of the season, He's right
at that mark. Already already had a hundred ninety four
on the night. So you're looking at uh balanced Cowboys offense.
Added to the well the good play of the defensive
front front. Now, one of the things we knew about
the Cowboys over the course of the year and we
talked about it a little bit last night. Is the
(05:45):
fact that they've done really well against the posing wide
outs and holding down guys on the outside. You can
hit him a bit up the middle with running backs
and tight ends. Eighth most receptions allowed to running backs
coming into the game. But you're look at right now,
Michael Thomas three at just twenty four yards. He's been
erased at least to this point in the game. What
you got called nephones. Just to pull back the curtain
(06:06):
here for a second, America, it's a good thing we
recorded that, uh that monologue just in case the Saints
come back and win. Here. Now that's good if you're Saints.
If the Saints do, we we have that. We'll get
ready to go. Get Drew Brees on and off that
if they lose, they're no longer my Cowboys, okay player
(06:28):
as well. There was also a short touchdown dropped by
track Lawn Smith, the rookie and if you're just doing
it in Jason actually kicked the Jets to the curb
a couple of nights. Oh no, yeah, absolutely, my text.
Let's let's set things up. It's still my Texans. You
sound like David Swimmer on French, my sandwich Texans. Now
(06:48):
everybody's my everybody to make Yeah, you're just trying to
pick them outside. Were on a break. We were on
a break. Now you're just Glis and you're trying to
get all these fan bases to send you stuff like
your other shows. I didn't say send me, so you
are you like me? At least he's not stealing stops.
(07:08):
You wanted to steal stuff, but did I know? I
don't know that you did. We walked out differently, you said, hey,
I may hand back. We walked out. You should have
seen the group that walked out before we left, that
left the premiss of the Western You want to tell
you you want to You would have want to know
where the party was over there. You wanted to take it.
And we said all right, we're all walking out together,
(07:29):
and you did a yeah, you know, I'm gonna hang
back for a few minutes. Guys, you leave, okay, I'll
see you later. Sure, Frostberg and I left and you yeah,
everything show time. You had to put out a tweet today.
They were missing. You don't what they were missing. They
weren't missing A bunch of those desktop posters. I don't
know those were disappeared. Tyson Fury is actually missing. They
(07:49):
don't know where he is. Twitter at about a frescut,
Mike as swollen, doun the Jason Spread Show with Mike
Harmon and thirteen three the score right now? Cowboys moving
the football a little bit that just got hit. Come on,
look at him, he got buried. Look, let's let's just
realize what's happening right now, all right? Because yes, cowboy,
(08:12):
my cowboys, right, my cowboys. They are my cowboys until
they lose. Have you told that to Michael Fabiano yet
your cowboys? Yeah? How about that? You know what's got you?
Not his? He's a he's a load of crap. I said,
you come on because I'm traveling everything. He could call
the show whenever he wants to, when the Mets lose,
when they're gonna make a really bad trade tonight, even
(08:33):
comes up the whole thing. Yeah, And then I called him,
I said, hey, you want to come on after the Cowboys.
I gotta get up early. I'm traveling, Like, really, you're
not watching the Cowboys. You can't come on after the
Cowboys anymore? Now now when he wants to call in
just to make fun of the Mets too. He is
stinking Mets. No, now he doesn't get to come on.
It's just like that too. It's not like Rizzo the rat.
(08:55):
But I am I am upset. Listen, listen, my Cowboys,
my text, Your Cowboys facing a third and twenty here
midway through the third, doing a good job running clock here. Yeah,
I look, Cowboys are playing extremely well. This has been
their best game of the year so far, clearly their
best game defensively and offensively. They are doing enough against
the team with the best run defense in the NFL.
(09:16):
It's it's just that kind of night. Is this suddenly
gonna be? Oh? I believe in the Cowboys. No, no,
but for tonight they're my Cowboys, and for the Saints
if they lose a game on the road Thurs the
night football in Dallas. Okay, I mean it's it's not
It's not all they Okay, it happens that Dallas is
not doing anything crazy, except they are making Drew Brees
throw the football a little bit earlier. They can't get
(09:38):
the ball downfield. There's no downfield thrust at all, and
the Cowboys defense is fast enough when they get the
ball to Camara who's caught a few passes so far
to be able to stop him before he breaks out.
I mean, the Cowboys defense is playing phenomenal, but I
always like to get thrust in. But this is just
because this is gonna happen now, apparently the athletic reporting.
(10:00):
Oh my god, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna drive
an ice pick through my head. You're gonna regret that one.
The Mets and Mariners are closing it on a trade
that's gonna send Edwin Diaz and Robinson Canoe to the Mets.
The Mets are gonna give up top prospects to the Mariners.
In return, they got a couple of first round picks,
Justin Donn, Jared Klenik, who they took in the first
(10:21):
round last year, Jeff McNeil, who had three thirty for
the Mets last year. They're not taking all of these guys,
but the Mets are gonna take on the majority of
Robinson Canoes contract, which has five more years. He's thirty
six bleeping years old now. To get Edwin Diaz, that's great,
but the Mets shouldn't have to give up top prospects
to take It's basically should be. We'll give you Edwin
(10:42):
Diaz and you take end the things you take on
Robinson Canoes contract. But now we're giving good guys back
to them. Give back Jay Bruce and Todd Fraser and
Anthony Swarzak and Jason Vargas. Give those guys up. They
all stink we're gonna give up top guys. Here's the
quality that out quality A leaver who finished eighth in
the American League side look, Edwin Diez is great, and
(11:08):
at least you have to take on that contrary to
take Robbins for five more years. Five years. You gotta
be kidding me, and we gotta get Okay, I'm like,
all right, if we take Cano's contract to get Edwin Diez, alright.
This is why you don't hire a bleeping agent to
do your negotiations. Is why we don't talk baseball. I'm
hoping we're talking about Robinson Cano, who doesn't matter anymore.
(11:31):
I'm hoping, yeah, But it's exactly unless you're spinning him
off to the Yankee, doesn't matter. It's just pronounced him irrelevant.
It's really another episode of so totally Mets only the Mets. Yeah,
I mean I'm hoping that when it comes down to it,
a lot of these pieces are moved out a little
bit and it's just basically Cano and Diaz and will
(11:52):
give you a first round pick, but you gotta take
Jay Bruce, you gotta take Swars like whatever, Sally. We're
trying to dump and it turns out okay. But if
we're giving up top props by and we're absorbing this
contract all for Edwin Diaz, there's so many other good
relievers on the market. There's like five or six other
really good ones that you don't have to make this
trade to get. It's just amazing. Why why you take
(12:13):
on that that salary? Are you thinking that bringing it
back to New York? You you put butts in seats
because people have fond memories of Cano that he's gonna
go to city guys. The Cowboys are beating the same Uh.
The athletic reporting that there's gonna be physicals, no trade
clauses and the finalization of players. But this made me
talk about the mat. It's just breaking a few minutes ago,
(12:34):
is it really breaking? It's still rumored at this point.
It's not a final, yes, a cup. Nobody's signed this
gives America another day to make fun of. America doesn't
care about the mats or baseball. Listen, you know what
Americans care about the most, being able to make fun
of people who have it worse than they did. Right now,
(12:56):
how feeling good this hollow season? Why? Because I'm not
the Mets, so totally with the ball. Camarat muff the
point lossome yardage. But the Saints will have a second
down in five here remaining here in the third quarter.
We'll have more on this game and break it down
as it continues. The Cowboys surprising well, not me, but
(13:20):
other people by beating the Saints this way with five
to go in the third quarter. We have more on
this and coming up next. Well, let's see, we have
a new worst team in the NFL, and the star
power of one NFL quarterback just continues to grow. It's
the power of a billion sons he has right now
(13:42):
that I wish it was you, Tim. We'll get into
it coming up next on Fox. You check things all

That's discovered dot Com Slash credit scorecard. Limitations apply. On
the second day of Chris missed, the Mets made a
horrible trade. They got Robinson Canoe and they took all
(14:24):
of his bloody money. On the third day of christ
miss they made another really bad trade. Fox Sports Radio
The Jason Smith Show with my bass friend Mike Harmen
live from the Geico Studios. I feel nervous as we
contemplate the arrival of that Mets Mariners trade. Meanwhile, my Cowboys,
(14:48):
my Cowboys banderash once again eracing. Look, it's very simple
what the Cowboys are doing to the Saints right now.
In addition to committing bad penalties, Yeah, that was dumb.
Cowboys were just the first down back on a punt return. However,
it's gonna be roughing the kicker and the Saints serving
at the ball near midfield and the first down uh
(15:11):
so having to put in a lot of work. I
mean no, they don't. He doesn't even travel with the
team usually. I heard it was up in the air
whether they even gonna bring him to the game tonight.
Already three punts, one inside the twenty, averaging fifty four
point seven, and I got a personal fall after a
great third down stop. There was a third and two,
great call, great pursuit by vander Esh up the middle,
(15:34):
taking down ball, carries short of the line to gain.
Morstead comes out and then well he takes a helmet
to the knee as he follows through personal fall. Uh.
Cowboys coaches one after another just pointing to their heads,
saying use your head, um. And Jason Garrett did a
half urban Meyer where he started to bend over a
(15:54):
little bit but thought better on it. This is unfair usage.
You know they talk about running backs, you know, carrying
the ball. Can't give him thirty times in a game,
can't give him three hundred touches. I mean the Saints
using more Stead three times tonight. That's I mean, really,
you can't can't count on a guy with you the
he kicks one time a week if he's lucky. That
was the big deal. Early right, oh for four was
(16:15):
breezed to start the game. It never happened. Uh And
then more Stead punted two straight possessions to open the game.
But that is such a huge penalty. The Cowboys were
going to get the ball back, likely run out the
clock in the third quarter, except the roughing the kicker
penalty has given the Saints the football and now they
are inside the Cowboys thirty five yard line, and this
(16:38):
could be the penalty that really turns the game. But
so far it's not been something that's incredibly unexplainable for
the Cowboys success. You have seen them get in on
Drew Brees and whether then they're not sacking him on
every play they are in so close that he has
to speed up his read. He can't throw the ball downfield.
Michael Thomas has three catches tonight on seven targets. They
(17:01):
can't get in the ball. They's checked down to Camara.
Almost every single daf Is completions are checked down passes
to Kimara, and Kimara only has twenty five yards receiving
because the Cowboys defense is active and they are swarming
him at the line of scrimmins when he's catching this passes.
The Cowboys defensive line and linebackers are absolutely controlling this game,
and they've done it since early in the first quarter.
(17:22):
And as you say that, as I say down Cowboys,
Drew Brees just throws it up. There's two there's a
lot of bodies in receivers and there's four Cowboys defensive
backs and somehow the Saints catch it. Some scenes come
down and catch it. Sometimes it comes back to you, Kent,
(17:45):
you gotta have bonus segments. No question, they're still winning.
It's still my Cowboys. They're still winning this game, my cowboy.
I mean it looks like a hail Mary. I mean
you look, there's just a lot of bodies. Five guys
in there the Jets defense on that past. Yeah, keep
her with the touchdowns out Frostberg. You think the Jets
would have four guys near one plate. I'm saying how
(18:07):
easy it looked to catch. Yeah, but still it looked
like a hail Mary. And just like that running into
the punter and taking him down. They are people, and
well they are they are a touchdown. You know with
Thomas we you note the the targets and the receptions.
He's also gotten them a bunch of penalty yards because
they're just beating him up, and they're starting to throw
(18:29):
flags a little bit, starting to tighten up on the
calls on the secondary early in the game on both sides. Yeah,
you got to share them up. Ass had four for
two of his penalties go their way. In the last
ten minutes that we've watched the pass interference penalty, we've
seen a couple of things really going on. Don't run
through the receiver. Obviously that that was running into the case.
This one you can't get away from. You put a
(18:51):
helmet on his knee as he's getting in the follow through.
So so that's as soon as you hit the plant leg,
you're done. That's what's happening right now, your cowboy. I mean,
they're still winning. My cowboys are still winning, and they'll
stay my cowboys until this game is over. They'll stay
my cowboys as long as they need to. It's okay,
(19:12):
he throws another touchdown. He's just getting warmed up. Uh So,
Cowboys lead the Saints thirteen ten, still a minute ago
in the third quarter. Despite the fact that Drew Breese
through that touchdown, he is gonna enter the fourth quarter
with under one hundred yards passing. He's gonna enter the
fourth quarter at thirteen out of twenty two for a touchdown.
(19:36):
Their leading receiver is Kirkwood, who caught one pass right
there for that thirty yard Touchdownah. I mean, it's certainly
not the fantasy um boom that you hope for in
this final week head of the fantasy playoffs. So you know,
if you're starting Drew Brees or any of these Saints
skill position players, you're in trouble. Yeah, you'd be starting
(19:58):
him in Michael Thomas, that's for sure. Know, well that's
started both running backs most likely. I mean Ingram might
have not have been uh top did you say he
might have not have been, but he still would have
been top twenty four right at your running back position,
So he still would have found his way into your
lineup in most leagues. And he's killing you right now
(20:19):
the last week of the regular season. He is killing
you with three catches or twenty four yards. Ezekiel Elliott
not having a big game running the football, but still
he's up around total yards and so he's gonna be
worth sixteen points at least for you, um and then
PPR leagues more because he's actually caught four passes so far,
so that's where you're at right now, you're not. And
if you have Alvin Kamara sixty six total yards, if
(20:42):
you're in a PPR league, okay, but still sixty six
total yards and no touchdowns for Kimara, you're sitting there going,
watching the thing, hitting refresh, going. There's got to be
more right. It's gotta be more right. Still, sixteen minutes
left in this game, a couple more possessions, and we
know the Saints can strike quickly, so even on the
jump all we'll keep you posted. Here's the Saints getting
(21:03):
set to kick off again just over a minute ago
in the third quarter. Cowboys lead the Saints thirteen to ten.
But after today, I think it's time to ask, can
we start flexing the Browns? Can we start putting the
Browns on Monday night, Thursday night, Sunday night? Because the
quarterback talks. Baker Mayfield just owns the news cycle. Now
(21:26):
this is Thursday and we're talking about Baker Mayfield four
days after a handshake that he had with former head
coach Hugh Jackson after they beat the Bengals. A handshake
not something we reacted rude. Now, he he shook his
hand was very didn't go in for the hug, then
went on Instagram and said that Hugh Jackson was kind
(21:46):
of fake with all the players, and it is blown
up from there to the point today where new Browns O. C.
Freddie Kitchen says, yeah, I support Baker Mayfield. Yeah, Hugh
Jackson being fake with the players. I support Baker Mayfield
over that. And it was an interesting that came out
right everything the guy does. I mean, what have you
seen an offensive coordinator feel I have to throw my
(22:07):
support behind a quarterback because his presence is larger than
the team. Baker Mayfield is larger than the Browns and
and we need to see more and more of him
because look at what he's done in this year where
I say it all the time, this is a bad
year for the NFL. Too down year. There's too many
teams that just stink. There's seven or eight teams that
(22:27):
are good, and everybody else stinks. Alright, whether you're six
and five, five and six, four and seven, you're all
the same. You all stink. We need new stars. Baker
Mayfield is now owning the new cycle. We talked so
much about Baker Mayfield and the Browns are four, six
and one we talked about Odell Beckham and Eli Manning.
The Giants are three and eight because the star players
and the star teams are who we wind up fixating on.
(22:50):
And Baker Mayfield has become that guy four days overcalling
Hugh Jackson fake and just shaking his hand after a game,
and you got the O C stepping up like, yeah,
I'm behind Baker may Film. I don't see Josh McDaniels
do this for Tom Brady, but yet I gotta make
sure I say I'm behind Baker Mayfield. He's a guy
that is loose, slipped, shoots from the hip. He's arrogant,
(23:12):
He's often wrong, he's sometimes right, but he just says
what he feels and he keeps it about being on
the field and everything he talks this is about being
on the field. There's no controversy that were off the
field because he did this, or he he didn't go
to a children's hospital. No, no, this is all about
on the field. And this is exactly why he has
become a star in a span of about eight weeks.
(23:35):
That's what's happened. I think one of the things that
comes here with Kitchens though, is he's a guy I'm
hitching my wagons. No, absolutely, here's a guy we're playing
better football. Look at the completion rate, because I'm certainly
gonna throw my support behind him because if he can,
if I can get him to go and endorse me,
I keep my job. Hell I might get promoted when
(23:57):
this is all said and done. So yeah, he's going
to be very positive. I think. What's interesting. You also
had this story that came out of The Rich Eyes
and the Show with Iron Eagle talking about a meeting
that Eagle and Dan Fouts had had with Hugh Jackson,
like why don't you do more of this stuff with
Baker that he did at Oklahoma? And Hugh Jackson said,
(24:19):
you know, that's a good idea. I don't know, and
about yeah, about it sounds to asked him again and said, yeah, yeah,
it's a good idea. I don't know why we're not
doing so the fact that you've got that floating out
as well. But for Baker Mayfield like Brash Bold and
this is the most positive thing for Cleveland football since
they moved there, since they moved back, moved into Cleveland's
(24:42):
bigger than Eric's sire, But can we be real for here?
For a second, how are we gonna believe a guy
that's named Freddie Kitchen. Freddie Kitchen, he sounds like a boxer,
doesn't He sounds like a boxer. He's one of those guys.
He's one of those guys hanging out and Tyson Furies
Entourage and saw yesterday, or he's actually in the mob.
(25:03):
Freddie Kitchen said, Look, Baker is not gonna blow smoke
up anybody's ass. He said that at the press Scott
at his press conference today before the fight behind Baker
may Yo. Yeah, I mean he's not Freddie two times
kits he's the cook. Yeah, I mean, look, this is
a he slices the garlics. So he's like, hey, I
feel this is the first thing he's been relevant since
he started for Alabama. No, but that's the point is
(25:24):
that he's feeling it, and right now he's getting a
lot of run. And if Baker Mayfield succeeds, he may
get a call from another one of these teams. Right.
This is a lot about he's ever had. We talked
a lot about Cliff Kingsbury. It's been the story here
in Los Angeles. Does he come on to the USC staff,
What of those does he do. Kitchens is watching that right,
(25:45):
not that he wants to come to USC, but Kingsbury
might be looking at one of those other NFL jobs
if he's looking to bounce up and maybe get on
board another squad. But it is time to ever for
everybody to realize the star power Baker a Field has.
He's the new breed of NFL quarterback and unlike anybody
we've seen, with how clean he is in talking about things,
(26:08):
how transparent he is, he is someone that everybody needs
to embrace as being someone who stirs the pot. Like
him or hate him. You can embrace the guy and
hate him. We see in the Mafia movies all the
time guy, but he got embraced what he brings the
game in the interest level he brings to it, it's phenomenal.
Twitter out. How about a fresca Mike at Swollen down
the Jason Smith Show with my bass friend Mike Carbon
(26:30):
coming up next. Well, it's now official. We have a
new worst franchise in the NFL. It's not the Jets,
But first it's deb Carson with what's trending d c Well, guys,
it's a tale of two halves for the Dallas Cowboys.
Cowboys led the Saints thirteen nothing in the first half,
after the Saints had not been shut out in any
half this season so far. Second half, however, Dallas is
(26:51):
defense with some costly penalties, including a roughing at the
kicker penalty on a punt giving the ball back to
New Orleans three plays later. Drops back last time, looks
down the fourth side line, whist worn up, Kirkwood, Kirkwood
goes up, hard, comes it in and staff for the
seits that made it a thirteen ten game. That was
(27:13):

Stop updating the Mets trade talk god man, say that refresh,
(28:21):
hang on refrash. I'm I'm not even thinking about what's
in that other tad that you open there. We are stopped.
We're gonna make this trade. Everybody's gonna laugh at us.
It's it's gonna John Paul Morossio, by the way, reporting
that the Mets and Mariners are gonna make this trade
between teams, Robinson Cano, Edwin Diaz, the metsic gonna trade prospects.
(28:42):
It's gonna happen. Yeah, that's great. Yeah, is it? Is it?
Two thousand and eight? That would be awesome, that'd be
very excited about. But We now have a new winner
for worst franchise in the NFL. It's been a couple
of days. I didn't want to give them the title
be before everything shook out, but no, say not the Jays,
(29:05):
not quite that. After today it is clear the Washington
Redskins own the title as worst NFL franchise. Senior vice
president Doug Williams said today the team's four decision makers
were unanimous in wanting to claim linebacker Reuben Foster on Tuesday,
three days after he got arrested on his second domestic
(29:28):
violence charge in the past few months. Three days they
decided to sign him. The only team in the NFL
who put in a claim for Reuben Foster were the Redskins.
They have been trying to defend this move over the
course of the last couple of days, and Doug Williams
today said something that just makes you shake your head
and go, wow, you wonder why we have problems with
(29:51):
domestic abuse in the United States, Because Doug Williams actually said, hey,
you know, other teams have bad guys too to play
in Alabama and didn't talk to them where you know,
we didn't hold a convention. We have five guys on
this team. If you're talking about Ari who is on
the injury reserve, it's six six guys on this football
team that went to Alabama that know him, that play
(30:13):
with him, or what have you. So it wasn't like
we got to talk to all five too that we
didn't talk to know him very well. So they talked
to guys who played with them in Alabama before he
committed these domestic violence deeds. Let's just say, right, we
don't know one else is in the history, but let's
just call it. But let this point, let's go back.
(30:35):
Let's go back to earlier in his career. This is
on team today. Let's go back to earlier in his
career before he had done anything wrong. Oh, you know,
everybody else says he was really good. I go back
to his fifth grade school teacher and he was a
great student. Um, how about you go and talk to
the woman who he assaulted that resulted in this arrest.
How about you go to that. No, no, I didn't
call that. How about you call the police department in
Tampa where this happened. Now we want to do that.
(30:57):
We want to talk to five guys on our team.
You know why, because they want to make it seem
like they're doing their due diligence so they can defend
signing Reuben Foster. Right, And then today you saw Doug
Williams actually go out and say this, we're in the
business of at least looking into Foster's case. I could
sit here and I won't, but I could name a
bunch of teams that took on players that got a
(31:18):
lot of baggage that nobody's saying anything about. So what
he's saying basically is, hey, other teams have bad guys,
so we can have a bad guy in the team.
Oh my's like other people are speeding, so I can speed.
You signed a guy three days ago, three days ago.
He was arrested in a domestic violent situation, not three
months ago, and it was looked three days ago, and
(31:39):
the fact that you were the only team to put
in a claim, what does that tell you? What does
that tell you about this guy? Now? I think, as
we talked about this, as this story has now been
developing for a couple of days, talked about it a
little bit last night, is if if you came out
and your your statement was he's not gonna play, but
we've got a guy with first round talent, and we
want to all the details, right, but we have the
(32:01):
opportunity if this checks out, to add a quality football player, right,
because there's still some some of this in the legal
process that has to be hashed out. Certainly, the allegation
is there, and his decision making at a minimum is questionable. Right,
So we have that. But you look at if you
come up with the statement that hey, we're gonna take
(32:25):
take a full investigation and vet this and talk to
police and go through that process. But here's how the
waiver claims work, and you do the quick idea there.
I think it's a much more palatable explanation than Okay,
we talked to five guys who knew him as a teammates.
Because when he can say, yeah, he worked hard in
(32:47):
the trenches, right, he had a good motor. Talked to
guys not involved in anything in his life outside of
we talked to teammates. That's not helping anything. So to
have that, then to go the equivalency of well there's
other guys, let's go through the laundry list. I was
waiting for him to pull out a list like and
then this team, you've got these guys with these allegations.
(33:10):
You could have gone to year just going historically, well,
these teams play these players and look at the allegations there,
or go this guy is wearing a gold jacket, look
at the allegations on him, go all the way through.
I mean, that's what Doug Williams did. And it's just
a horrible look, horrible way of doing business. And certainly
all the goodwill you've gotten this year because games scoring
(33:33):
is up, ratings are up, you just threw a lot
of it away with two sentences. If you want to go,
I'm all for giving people second chances, and I'm all
for allowing people to defend themselves. But the guy was
arrested three days ago. Let's go get him. That's how
desperate you are. That's how poorly run an organization you are.
(33:53):
That that's it. And you know what, because this there
is a silver lining in this is that you know
many people are going to use the old If you
have talent, you can still play in the NFL. And
I get that because that's exactly what the Redskins are doing.
But it's not fifteen teams who put an acclaim for
Ruben Foster. It's just one. So at least there's that
it's not well, a bunch of teams wanted him because
the guy can play. Now at least it's just one
(34:14):
team that there's you know, thirty one or thirty others
that are saying and realize, well, we shouldn't really go
after this. He's suspended by the league, may not even play.
We we really are it's really worth this at this
point where tied for first place in the NFC. Well,
but that's what goes back to we talked about Daniel
Snyder last night. He's the guy who doesn't give a
damn what you think, right, which is why he vehemently
defends the nickname of the team no matter how often
(34:37):
that cycles up. And we have the protests and the
outrage over the Washington Redskins name and brand is Daniel
Snyder says, I don't care about any of that. This
is what the brand is worth. This is what it
is to me. And this is another example of it.
Is if you can find a player, because I gotta
I gotta thinking a lot of the the NFL war rooms,
there were teams saying, well, I've loved his see this
(35:00):
vetted out. It's impossible that you know, he could be
a reclamation project on the chief once he gets through
the legal system, if this checks out and he's eligible
to play, gets past Roger Goodell's office, et cetera. But
they're not gonna make that claim. Daniel Snyder just raised
his hand said, yeah, I'm that guy. I don't care
what you think. I don't care about the court of
a public opinion. Twitter at how about a Fresco Mike

(36:32):
Eight minutes ago, in the fourth quarter, my Cowboys clinging
to a thirteen ten lead over the New Orleans Saints.
The Saints capitalizing on a couple of errors by the
Dallas Cowboys to pull this close. But Dallas, who's been
playing extremely well all night long, you wonder if they're
gonna have enough as they're trying to hold off the Saints.
(36:54):
But you mean, if they're starting to pucker, if they're
little a little bit is live something. You know, their
defense has been playing well. But I'll tell you what,
still seven and a half minutes left to go, that
Saints just need a touchdown. Yeah, they got off the
field this last time play that will be reviewed by
a lot of media sources and certainly we'll have some
commentary from Mike Pereira and others. As Kimara on a
(37:17):
third and seventeen took a swing pass UH and he
took a helmet to helmet blow. There's no question they've
shown him shown the replay a couple of times. They've
also shown him multiple times going to the smelling salts,
so it's like a boxer getting back for more. And
here the big play by Dak Prescott extending this drive
on a big run, avoiding tacklers, didn't slide, goes full
(37:40):
on UH and gets ready for the blow Lattimore that
can't wrap him up another Lattimore Again. We've been ripping
the Lattimore all night, So we'll we'll we'll keep you
posting on what's going on with Alvin Kimara. But my Cowboys,
your cowboys, what did I tell you tonight? They were
gonna be able to have get a big game out
of Ezekiel Elliott. And it's amazing that the Cowboys are
(38:01):
moving the football despite the fact they're not running it.
This is nineteen straight passing plays for the Dallas Cowboys.
He wants that money. You'd like to say that Dak's
putting the Cowboys on his back, but they haven't really
had any points. And he just overthrew a running free
and clear down the sideline. And this drive started at
the one yard line, by the way, after the more
(38:22):
said it once again, uh down to the one and
then they're moving the ball effectively. It should have been
a touchdown Dak Prescott overthrew him. He was ten yards
past the closest dB. That could have been the game
right there. But this is what we're seeing so far.
Prescott on a big third and ten a couple of
moments ago, just scrambled for twelve yards on third and ten,
(38:45):
getting by a couple of Saints defenders. Because when I said, look,
my Cowboys gonna pull this upset. They're gonna get a
game out of Elliott great, and Doc was gonna make
a couple of plays out of the pocket with his legs.
That was going to be the difference in the low
scoring game. And that's where we're here right now. I
feel like, yeah, exactly what's gonna happen. It was gonna
be physical and the Saints we're gonna have a stinker.
And that's exactly what we're seeing. I do like that.
(39:07):
The official analysis included the words stinker. Well, yeah, Jason,
if only you bet it? Yeah now, because if I
go down that road, there's no return. Oh, you wouldn't
have to ever dip in again. Had you bet the
cal you bet the house on this one. You could
have bet all PAMs Michigan gear would be Oh you
think she still wears that after less? That's what I'm saying.
(39:28):
It's yeah, it's going unused at this point. I bet
all of this Michigan gear. Although she was very happy
that Syricus pet Ohio State lab how many foam number
one fingers? Oh, she had at least four at least
and now no more, Yeah, no more. She was actually
using it as packing material for holiday gifts. She was
wearing her old Michigan recruiting jacket on uh Saturday during
(39:49):
the game because she worked for the football office when
she was there, and before she took it off, and
damn you you got me saying, I said, throwing the laundry.
I'll watch it for you, all right, great, Yeah, it was,
it was. It was very shortly. It was very short.
She wore it, I think into the fourth quarter and
(40:09):
then said that's it. I'm now that's a fan. Now
I'm done. Yeah fourth quarter. Yeah, Well what once a
while State got to fifty was when she took it off.
Will do it. That's it. I'm they get to fifty,
I'm taking this thing off. All right. They took it off.
So that's where we sit right now. Time out on
the field. The Dallas Cowboys lead the Saints thirteen to
(40:30):
ten under seven minutes ago. In the fourth quarter, again,
the Cowboys just missed. It would have been a wide
open touchdown. And it's amazing that the Cowboys if they
win this game, you could say they won despite the
fact they missed a wide open player for a touchdown,
that committed a horrible penalty on a roughing the kicker
that allowed the Saints to score a touchdown. All of
the It's not like they're playing a clean game. The
(40:50):
Saints are just for their part, they're having a bit
of a stinker. Neutral zones, in fractions, all of those
kind of things. Dak Prescott four and a touchdown should
have had Tomari Cooper up to eight catches seventy five
yards on the night. Drew Brees still in a hundred
twenty two yards? That's it? What are twenty two yards
on the night? If you needed Drew Brees and Fantasy
(41:13):
to get to the playoffs to night? Yeah, this is
not happy. Camara seventy one total yards on his nineteen
touches and he got rocked eight seven, seven ninety nine.

(42:19):
picked the win tonight. My Cowboys looking to assault this
game away against the Saints. A hands to the face
penalty to Dak Prescott when he was throwing the ball
away on third down because nobody was open has extended
this drive for the Dallas Cowboys. They are inside the
(42:40):
Saints fifteen yard line trying to protect a thirteen ten lead.
It was a big third down play. Cowboys could have
gotten a first down instead. What just happened was Dak
Prescott is sacked fumbles. The ruling on the field is
a recovery by the New Orleans Saints and that is
(43:03):
going to stand most likely, except there is a flag
down on the play, but that looks to be against
the Cowboys as well. Yeah, Cam Jordan came off the
edge and got absolutely held and he rolled straight through.
Remember when Cam Jordan put us in the headlock at
the supervisor, big man, you have that picture right Frostburg,
when he put us both in the headlow interview. Now
(43:23):
we got some crazy stuff going with an Amazon Fire
TV menu popping up in the middle of this game.
I'm a bit confused. Uh so the Cowboys and the Saints, Yeah,
have been interrupted by an ad for Amazon Fire TV,
and now we're in a commercial. Alright, So suddenly that
(43:45):
just popped up out of nowhere. Uh shaw, kind of great.
In in the middle of a they were showing the replay.
It's called the commercial. Guys, No, they just went to
fire the commercial and everything right for where we sat
here in the Geico studios. Your guy's eyes is almost
as bad as the rest of the refereesment back. You
(44:06):
know what's really hurting me are the Indiana Pacers uniforms.
They're wearing red tops. Well, because they're dressed like Hickory.
I'm not quite sure what's going on. You gotta focus
on one thing. Everyone like you're like, look at the
kiddie tonight. Hey, and there's this and this and there's
all I'm not deserving. You're all over the place. I
am making brilliant arguments right now. That game has gone
(44:27):
to commercial, so I have drifted my attention to the
Lakers who are boat racing. The Lakers are actually playing
Newsers tonight. I could believe that they showed up like
I'm ten points in the first quarter. Yeah, a Lonzo
ball doing amazing things. Alright, So that's gonna be your
(44:49):
official new drop now, So let me catch you up
on everything Mike Harmon has talked about in the last
three minutes. So there's a penalty on the Cowboys four
whole thing. Cam Jordan forces the fumble, Saints recover. They
have the ball down a field goal, less than three
minutes left to go, and they have it deep in
(45:09):
their own territory. All the Cowboys had to do was
not turn it over. They would have been kicking a
field goal on fourth down, forcing the Saints to score
a touchdown. So that happened, And then catching Mike Harmon's
eye like glinty shiny new object was the Saints and
the Pacers. They'd gone to commercials. Okay, all right, I'm
trying to catch everybody on this. You know, you're like
(45:29):
I did the Cam Jordan analysis perfectly. Listen. You can't
do sports talk stream of consciousness, and that's like doing
the phone book stream of consciousness. That doesn't work that way. Hey, guys,
they decided to come back all of a sudden, how
about that? Uh So the Lakers are playing the Pacers,
and they're killing him right now. Thirty one to eleven,
the Paciers are wearing the Hickory jerseys from the movie Hoosiers.
(45:54):
Where's Gene Hackman, Well, he's coaching. Did he get thrown out?
Do you think the players are listening? No? Well, well
I would say Dennis Lebron. Dennis Hopper's dead. Yeah, no,
So they can't have him come in and run the
picket fence. It will be very although it would be
nice if they did run the picket fence to win
this game in the end. Well, obviously actually happened Hickory.
They got done against the Starry spoiler alert. They got
(46:16):
down big in the in the championship game. Then they
realized Jimmy could take the guy guard and he started
making shots and making shots. Came down to the end
and Jimmy chip Would made a big shot and they won.
That's I mean that could happen in this game. Chip Away,
chip Away, Chip Away, chip Away. Meanwhile, as you listen
to Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon,
(46:38):
things are now going to get a little bit more
difficult for the Saints as they try to come back
in this game. Drew Brees tried to throw a bad
past in the flat to Kmara and he kind of
sidearmed it off his back foot. The ball goes nowhere
near Camara and it's picked off by the Alice Cowboys out.
(47:03):
So they're gonna look at it. But it looks like
it's gonna stand because the throw was low, was a
horrible pass by Drew Brees, and it was picked off
by the cowboys. Again, they're gonna look at it, but
I don't see the ball touching the ground that it
was cradled under. That's an interception. That's gonna be the
cowboys with the football. That's gonna be my cowboys. Your
cowboys say, it's only with one time out plus the
(47:25):
two minute warning remaining. With the football, my cowboys are
gonna have it. And I say my cowboys because I
told you they were gonna win this, and it's happening
two days ago. The America, they were a frod terrible
cowboys to begin and you had a dump over here
(47:45):
and you said to disown somebody, you have to actually
have you know, or disowned something, you have to have
actually owned it. I never owned the cowboys. They're always terrible.
Look they're they look, they're most of the point was
buried them and then less than four hours decided to
reclaim that my cow I told you they were going
to win a football game tonight, and they're my Cowboys.
(48:07):
As I said, exactly what was going to happen tonight.
The Cowboys are gonna play physical. Check. They were gonna
get a good game out of Ezekiel Elliott, check, Dak
Prescott was gonna make plays enough with his legs, and
they're going to a low scoring game. Check check check.
And most importantly, the Saints were just gonna have a stinker.
And that's what's happening here. The Cowboys are two o
eight away from making me look so so very good.
(48:29):
If this holds up, my cow we gotta take Breeze
out of the m v P conversation immediately, right, Well, yeah,
Cowboys getting eight points as a home dog, and they
come out and they're gonna win this game outright, barring
something crazy. The Booth review it stands Drew Brees eighteen
of seven on the night at the last update. Now
(48:54):
you a touchdown touchdown at an interception, uh to go,
and that's an inexplicable path. I mean I want to
hear the post of Camara. Camara players out and he
should have turned in, I guess would be the explanation.
But it's what he's he's going backwards and throwing. He's
trying to side arm it. I I don't get that.
I don't get any Like the rest of the night.
(49:18):
It wasn't like it was fourth down either. You know
they were they were starting to move the football and
instead they give it back to the Cowboys. Were sitting
at the World just before the two minute warning is
the Saints have used their final time out. So even
if the Cowboys get a field goal here, the Saints
will get the ball back with about maybe a minute
fifteen or so left to go. They might be down
(49:39):
a touchdown, but Breeze will still get the ball back
with one last chance. So ocous. They don't get a
first down, they will still get the ball back. Yeah.
Interesting to see how aggressive the Cowboys get what their
play calling here. Oh, they're gonna run the ball two
more times. There's no way, there's no they'll take the field.
Their defense is held all night. They will take the
field goal and say, Drew Brees, we're gonna make you
(49:59):
go down field in the minute fifteen and no time
asking you can do that and score a touchdown and
beat us. You beat us. But I don't think that.
I don't see the Cowboys get getting too smart for themselves.
Although it is Scotland, you never know. I've done it before,
Breeze thirty drop back, seven knockdowns on the nineties, absorbed
too sacks and then that interception that is currently as
Justin Frostberg said, it just eliminates you from m v
(50:20):
P consideration. So that's the end of it. It's it's
not fully Rivers. No, I was gonna say. Now the
stump speech for Philip Rivers begins, Well, now it's Rivers
and Mahomes. Now it's Rivers and Mahomes really and yeah,
and Sam Donald, what's he the m v P of
Oh and the Cowboys inexplicably throw the football but they
(50:40):
get their call Jameson. That's insane. The Cowboys is succeeding
despite themselves. They throw a fade to the corner of
the end zone in Amari Cooper and Lattimore's gonna get
called for pass interference. Hey, at least he was there
for the tackle. What Yeah, either he did tackle Lamari Cooper.
Very well, what are the last Yeah, I don't get
(51:01):
their succeeding despite themselves. Well they're going to get to
punch it in. Maybe Elliott get you another fantasy touchdown
right here. There's no way Jason Garrett's calling these places
or Prescott takes it in himself. Yeah, no, it's curious,
that's for sure. Jerry calling him, Well, he was already
celebrating after that interception. Are you kidding me? He's starting
(51:21):
to bow and take bows again, hey, Stephen, Yeah, look
it's dad. Um, can you get me to DA's helmet?
You send me through Daddacki's Jerry. Listen, um, go long
to uh the Cooper Kid, because you know that makes
our trade look better. No, this is really me. Uh
fly that, that's that's the key word. When I say
ctz flyt. You know it's me. All right, you still
(51:43):
want to make flurry after the game. I'm gonna get
him ordered, all right, all right, still still like the
oreos in him? All right? Good, alright, remember long to
the Cooper Kid? All right, great, thanks so much again,
this is Jerry. All right, go get it go, go
get it done. All right? Oh, the play is over.
I missed it. What happened? I mean, this is easily
the cowboys biggest winning since the early nine Yeah, last
(52:07):
time they won a game like this, Troykman was on
the field. No, you know, you know, no, you know.
The last game the one like this is that big
was when they was three years ago, when you know,
when they beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh and Elliot had
that huge game. He had like over two hunder total
yards of the big like eight yard touchdown to salve
the game away when it was the are the Cowboys
for real game? And they beat the Steelers and suddenly
(52:29):
was while the Cowboys are back, Dax were This is big, right,
because this solidifies Jason Garrett gets more years and now
the here's a giant novelty check for Dak Prescott. I mean,
Jerry Jones already been emphatic that that was gonna be
his guy. But you win this game, even though he's
made some mistakes curious decisions. I mean, it's not win wins.
(52:54):

are really coming on strong. I think this is one
of those Cowboys are coming on strong. This is one
of those games. And I knew going into this game,
and every I talked to me these games, they're a
lot nervous about this game. That's one of these games
where the man that kind of thought they were gonna
walk into a hornet's nest a little bit here, and
you know Dallas and obviously came to play Dallas. Over
(55:11):
the course of their run these last few weeks, JA,
we've seen him hold on the outside. I think the
most impressive thing to me the pressure on breeze. But
there's no yak, there's no space on those short routes.
Those guys clothed like bears man. Yeah that you know,
look their defensive slay and phenomenal. You know what Panderess
is doing phoose guys, and you know they're still hoping
that they get David Irving back. And Randy Gregory had
(55:32):
a really tough game, but you know, they're hoping that
these two guys will give them some going into the season.
They're hoping those two guys we had two troubles, would
give them, you know, some help on defense, and all
of sudden panderesses. He's the guy that stuck up and
he plays lights out. Some of they weren't expecting to
to contribute as much as he has already. And Jerry
when smith Man, for this guy to come back from
(55:53):
what he had, the injury out of college, from all
the way back as far as he had, he's as
good stories there is in the NFL. I'll tell you,
I think in the end they're gonna talk about the
Jake Lazer curse because you just did that whole great
piece on Drew Brees. Watching Take the Loan eleven o'clock
at night, they're gonna say, don't come talk to us anymore.
And well, now all that it was, you know, it
(56:14):
was funny to get Shan you know, Drew s Frew Cactus.
So you know, last night Sean Payton has a whole
ten minute presentation about Drew Brees. Look takes this game away.
Drew Brees this season has been unconscious I mean his
every past, every decision, it's been ridiculous. So you know,
that kind of a little tribute to Drew last side.
It was and they always picked like a special captain
(56:36):
in the game, even if they already are a captain
because it was Drew and Sean did basically a ten
minute presentation. They said it was incredible. But some of
the things that were in there was I didn't know
is that you know, Drew beat Andy Roddick and tennis
when he was twelve. Look what and he where did
he get what? And he had you know, when he
was ten years old, he he ran a mile in
(57:01):
five minutes and fifteen seconds, which is still a Texas
record for ten year olds. And I'm like, is this true?
Is it's just Sean make it up? And he's like, no, no,
it's true. I'm telling you the truth. You know. But
you know, guys, I talked about Joe Drew's work as
in his work as is the reason why he's been
looked regardless of this game. I think he's still the
(57:22):
MVP of this season just the way he's been playing. Um,
you know, there's gonna be a lot of They're gonna
go back here for this game. And it was interesting
because Sean has been looking for reasons. He said it
to me a few weeks ago, he said, and it
was after beating the It was who was the game
where Thomas pulled the phone out from? Is that the Rams? Who?
(57:44):
What game was that? And so back to then Alla
back then, Sean said, I'm not worried about adversity with
my team. I gotta teach these guys how to handle prosperity.
Prosperities the thing that get I'm worried about. And I
have never heard of coach you know say that. Um
(58:06):
So he's been looking for for reasons to kind of
get on guys and roll them up. And well he's
got a big one right here. After this game, Jay
Glazer with us The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen
Live from the Geico Studios. All right, to go from
the Saints to the Cowboys. Now, j the last time
we saw them on National TV, they had imploded. Things
were awful. Jason Garrett was gonna get fired. Now Here
(58:26):
they are seven and five last week Thanksgivings, Thanksgiving Thanks
Remember the Redskins guys couldn't tackle. It was they couldn't
tackle Themary Cooper was running like a kid that threw
up spring flower prime to you bring up real quick,
you bring upper right. So we've now had two guys
(58:48):
that were traded this year who had such a huge
impact that in Khalomack and Amari Cooper, which I think
it will continue a trend of teams open up the
coffers and just trade. You know it used to be um,
you know, trade deadline. You're lucky if you trade the
guy for a fifth round PIX. But because both those
(59:09):
guys have made such a drastic impact, um, you know
Kola and the Bears defense, and Marks Cooper has made
a drastic impact on the Cowboys offense, I wouldn't be
surprised if you'll see a lot more teams start to
you know, swim for defenses. All right. So, so to
get back to the for the Cowboys, was it just
(59:29):
this trade that ignited them because we we were we
were giving them up for dead a few weeks ago. Yeah,
it wasn't other that admitted them. It's it changed their offense.
It came a deep threat, It spread the field out,
It opened things up for Ezekiel Elliott, it opened things
up for Dak Prescott. It opened things up for it,
just yet that one thing, when there are so one dimensional,
(59:50):
it's opened up another dimension for him that allowed other
players to really shine. Well. Now we get that long
Jason Garrett extension and Dak Prescott's as well. U. But
that's why I hate doing the hot seat That's why
that's why I hate doing hot seat stories because every
year you have stories, I mean two weeks ago, guys, everybody,
or three weeks ago Jason Garrett is gone, right, and
(01:00:10):
before he might be gone that week we heard, you know,
there were reports a few weeks ago that Todd Harball
was gone and if if they didn't beat the Steelers.
That's why I hate hot seat stories because I like
being accurate, and sixties hot seat stories end up not
being accurate. They don't happen um and it it affects families,
affects other coaches on staff, it affects players, and it's just,
(01:00:34):
you know, we're so emotional in this sport because there's
only seven, you know, seventeen weeks here that you have
a couple of bad losses and people all that's it.
Let's go, let's you know, let's it's let's fire this
guy and the way Jayson Garrett is right now, I
want to fire it in right. No, they're feeling pretty good, Jerry, Jerry. Yeah,
they're in first place that Jerry Jones was taking bows
(01:00:55):
in the owner's box. Again, Jay, he's the mastermind of it.
I do think you know, we're talking a lot about
um Amari Cooper, but I do think that you know,
Vander esh also as he is given this team a
huge spark on that side of the ball. Well in
the past, right and down they had wait, wait real
(01:01:18):
real quick on that also, and this this is one
thing I know we like to beg on on the
Jones is of you know, the the GM. But I
kind of say, you know how to draft. Those guys
can draft players. They've done a really good job in
in you know how they use these draft picks here
and even you know in tation Zeke a couple of
years ago. And you know who are there gonna side
(01:01:39):
to side for them drafting Dak Prescott. Then you know
Jones in the secondary, Vander and some of these guys
they know how to draft a lot better than they're
given credit for. Well that's a curiosity, right Ja, on
both sides of the ball. Right. We talked very early
in the year you were on with us. We were
talking about the absence of Travis Frederick and what it
meant to this offensive line. They've now own their way.
(01:02:00):
Right now, you've got some balance. And for years whenever
Sean Lee would miss a game, and he'd miss games,
they'd fall apart. The yard per carry, yard per play
went up astronomically. Now, vanderash she's becoming a cult hero. Yeah,
mean you're talking, you know, and it's right beca're bringing
up the offensive line. They drafted that offensive line. They've
got a really good job of giving you know, gets
(01:02:21):
taking the right chances. Look, they've taken some chances and
guys and preditions like Randy Gregory, you know, guys like that. Um,
but then they take chance, you guys and jay Lee
Smith to go, you know what, when's it and let
him waited out a year or so and if he
can come back and even you know, somewhat of what
he used to be, that's a win for us. But
he ended up being more than that. He ended up
being the same guy that should have been a top
(01:02:43):
five pick. Hey, j will take you outside Monday Night
Football for a couple of quick seconds here that we're
getting four days worth of stories out of the Baker
Mayfield handshake and calling Hugh Jackson fake pretty kitchens today
is saying I'm standing behind my quarterback. Were things really
that bad in Cleveland? Um? Yeah, I mean it's there
was so much drama there in Cleveland, man, And look
(01:03:04):
it was there was huge. It was Harley, both guys
were done there and there was Cleveland. You saw it
on a Hard Knocks. I mean it was. I mean
they were the freaking Kardashian to the NFL. And uh,
I mean, you know, I remember saying, like I remember
texted Baker Mayfield one point earlier, like trust me, it's
normally not like just like the NFL is not like
(01:03:26):
just trust me, It's it's really not, you know, as
bad or as as as much of a reality show
a bad reality show as they originally seem to be.
You can follow on Twitter at Jay Glazer, that is
at Jay Glazer NFL on Fox Inside to check out
the website Vets and Players dot org doing some great
(01:03:46):
things as we get closer to the holidays. Jay, As always, buddy,
thanks so much. Be good. We'll talk to you next week.
Thanks be good. That's the NFL is not always like this.
Don't worry about it. It's not is like that. It'll
get better. Yeah, well, you know what, but Baker Mayfield's
a guy that maybe pushes the NFL to be different
(01:04:07):
than it's been for the past thirty years. He could
be that guy. Certainly gonna change that locker room, change
the culture in Cleveland, which seeing the number of resets
they've had, and when you build on bad architecture, I've
I know from experience from past jobs, build on bad architecture,
talking computer code for a moment, Uh, the site's gonna
blow up. That's what the Browns have been doing since
(01:04:27):
they got back to Cleveland. We're gonna keep this base
and we're gonna throw this over the top. You know what.
That stuff is still rotten on the bottom. So they
finally have a guy that's changing the face of the
franchise and and perhaps their fortunes long term. Twitter At
how about a Fresco Mike at Swollen Dome The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Harmon. In one minute, we break
down the wind by my Cowboys. Everything I said that
(01:04:52):
was gonna happen happened. But first deb Carson will tell
you everything else that's happened and is happening in sports tonight, DC.
All righty with the Cowboys were up thirteen ten and
after recovering a strip sack fumble of Dak Prescott drew
Brees and the Saints got the ball just over two
to go on what might have been the game winning
driven pluss dirt loss, dirt loss of two days. So
(01:05:20):
the Cowboys got the ball back, ran out the clock.
Dallas thirteen Saints ten on the Cowboys Radio network. That
is the final. So the second loss of the season
for New Orleans. That ends their ten game win streak.
They or ten and two Dallas improofs to seven and five.
They've now won four in a row. NBA, the Raptors
blew a double digit first half lead, Warriors tied it,
(01:05:42):
sent it to overtime. At n O T it was
the Raptors one one to Warriors one eight. Right now,
Lakers with a lead over the Pacers five to go
second quarter at Staples Center in Sacramento. Clippers lead the
King's five thirty to go second quarter. You need to
make good choices, and with true car you've got a
star on your roster. So when you're ready to sell
(01:06:02):
or trade in your car, check out Drew Car Drew
Cash offer not available in all areas. Finally, Ken Rosenthal
throwing out the news that the Dodgers and Indians have
been in talks regarding a trade that would include Indians
as Corey Kluber and l a outfielder Ya c l
tweet guys, thank you d C and the Mets are
gonna take Robinson Canoes big contract and give back recent
(01:06:24):
first round picks. Well I was going to throw that in,
but I figured you've covered that. No. Thanks thanks, I'm
living with that now in the back of my mind
until everything gets finalized on Friday. Thanks so much. We're
locked in the Geico studios where fifteen minutes can save
you fifteen cent more in car insurance. More info visit
Geico dot com. So the dust is settled. Great stuff
from Jay Glazer, the genius of Drew Brees. Now we
(01:06:47):
break down just what we saw tonight, Cowboys and the Saints,
because everything I've said came true. But now what does
it mean? All right? First one, I told you two
nights ago the Cowboys are gonna win this game. Yeah
you do, Number one, I said, because the Saints are
due for a stinker. And that's really what tonight was.
This was not the Saints. Come on. Drew Breese throws
(01:07:07):
for undred and twenty seven yards, Camara thirty six yards rushing,
thirty six yards receiving, Michael Thomas forty yards receiving. If
you started them in fantasy, oh boy, I feel bad
for you. Oh yeah, no, the flames are up and
this was the week you needed them in fantasy football
to get into the playoffs. People who had all three
of them, well, I'm starting Breeze and Camaro Thomas. I've
(01:07:28):
been undefeated this season. Oh man. Yeah no, that was
not your draft Kings or fan duel stack for the night,
no question about it. You did get some penalty yardage
with holes and grabs and clutching of Michael Thomas, but
that's not helping your fantasy bottom line. But like I
brought up to Jay, the one thing that really stood
out to me defensively, you talk about the aggression up
the front and keeping Breeze shuffling just there's no yak.
(01:07:52):
It was all short passes. But then as soon as
camera made a catch, he was down. He got like
two steps and you had him close in and we
were talking about vand rash. You know, you got a
lot of run this week, first round pick out of
Boise State. But the guy's gonna become a national hero.
At this point, it was it was a bad night
for the Saints. You can take this, throw it away
and go Okay, let's get back to it. As Jay
(01:08:13):
Glazer told us, look, I'm worried about this week. The
Saints are worried about this week. Sean Payton was worried
about how do we keep these guys on the straight
and narrow, Because when you win every week, and you
win big, it's hard. You know, the coaches always say,
what's the big best thing for a coach? You win
every week, but you look bad doing it. So you
can ride your players and get them to stay focused
when you're winning games by two and three touchdowns? How
do you do it? So, now, a game like this
(01:08:35):
is going to let the Saints get back and focus.
It's just a game. This is not the Cowboys have
figured out how to beat the Saints. This is not
one of those games where now everybody copycats and they
can do it because the Cowboys did it because of
what they do well, and that is they were able
to hurry Drew Brees Almost every time he dropped back
to past tonight, they didn't sack him a lot. He
(01:08:56):
always sacked him twice. But every time Drew Brees dropped back,
he had to throw the ball much quicker than he
wanted to. He couldn't throw the ball downfield. You had
no time to get the ball downfield of Michael Thomas
or any of other weapons, and he defaulted to dropping
it off to Alvin Camara or whoever else was coming
out of the backfield. And what did we see? The
Cowboys swarmed Camara at the line of scrimmage or whoever
(01:09:18):
he was dumping it off to, or so the past
wouldn't go five yards. The Cowboys just played that inspired game.
They played physical. They were ready. They pointed to this
game as being a game we're gonna show everybody how
good We're gonna beat de Marcus Lawrence and we're gonna
choke their offensive line out. They were motivated. They were
playing at home, they had more at steak, They had
a lot going emotionally invested in this game, and they
(01:09:40):
played their best game of the season. They only scored
thirteen points, but they played their best game. Elliott wound
up with near a hundred and fifty yards total offense.
Dak was forty eight in a touchdown, So they did
everything they needed to do. They were just fantastic tonight,
Absolutely fantastic. And joining us now on the hotline right
now Cowboys. Jeff eight fresh off the third team ten
(01:10:03):
upside of the Saints. Jeff, congratulations on the win tonight. Oh,
thank you, Jason Man, what a huge win. My defense,
we all played an extremely good game. What a great
offense we held down tonight. Drew Brees, Michael Thomas, Alvin Camara.
I couldn't be more proud of my guys. Hey, talk
about the game you played, specifically what you did on
(01:10:23):
the field and how well you played, because I thought
you had a hell of a game tonight. You know,
I just go out there and I do my best. Jason,
you know I'm out there. I'm a team guy. I
want to play for my team. And it was a
team win tonight. There was not one player out there
that individually was to was to was to give credit here.
We all played as a team. Now we're seven and five,
(01:10:45):
looking at it in the NFC each championship. You know,
I know one thing I like about you because I
read today going into the game that you were playing
in this game tonight and you actually were starting Drew Brees,
Alvin Camara and Michael Thomas and fantasy and boy, that
must have been tough for you trying to win a
game and slow them down fantasy wise. Well, you know
what I mean. It helps to get that defense fired
(01:11:09):
up when you know that the quarterback you're going up
against is also the quarterback that you're going up against
in fantasy football too. So not only not only did
we stop Drew Brees on the field in terms of
real football, but we also held them down fantasy football too.
So it was a big win both in reality and
in fantasy. And you know, I've actually got a friend here,
(01:11:30):
big big Cowboys fan here on the line with me
to Jason. Wanted to bring him in as well. Oh
go ahead, hey, hey Sea Cutical from Ralph five Honda.
I'm a huge fan a Cowboys fans. I listened to
you every night and uh, anyway fasts that I could
come on and uh, Jeff, are you talking about fab
(01:11:55):
what'sn't I well, I think I think the joke's over
that that that you know, Jeff, he doesn't talk like fast,
you know, but I just won't to say. Listen, I'm
a big fan, and let's do all time first time,
long time. Uh and uh, yeah, you did a hell
of a job, can you ad it? Alright? Alright, alright
at the end of that, that was pretty good. Now,
(01:12:15):
but I tell you what it is for anyone listening.
We got an eighty three pulsar. It's got an aftermarket
moon route, but uh, we're just looking for five on it.
We had it for thirty four nineties. Five come all
those this listen. I'll meet you down to the dealership,
but one in the morning, as long as I know
that you're coming, now a swap meet here. I'm excited
thinking because I thought we might have been getting someone online.
(01:12:38):
I really was hoping it was Jeff Heath. Hey, have
a closing speed. You don't tell me how you met
Jeff he did he come to buy a used car
from you? You know? How did you guys strike up
that friendship? Well, actually, to be honest with you, now,
as we know, FABS is just playing a joke. But
I'm good friends with Steep Blewer. We could probably get
him on here and talk to football. Uh you know
(01:13:01):
what Smith, I heard. I heard from a reliable store
who Jeff he You can't just call me by my
last name like that. You heard one reliable source that
you were cheering for the Cowboys was his game and
his Cowboys. Finally, have you finally smartened up and jumped
(01:13:22):
off the Jets bandwagon? No, Het, he met the house
on this one years. No, listen, we are talking now. Now.
The cover is blown since Elliot Harrison of the NFL
decided to say, fat, it's fine. It's NFL network stars
Elliot Harrison and a Fantasy Hall of Famer Michael Fabiano,
who have decided you contractually obligated to say that. No,
(01:13:45):
I just well, Fantasy Hall of Famer. I feel like
I just want to say that, you know, I want
I want people to think, well, if it's not Jeff Heath,
but it's Fabs. So that's kind of where we're at people,
this being an appropriate time, just going to roll out
there that it's the first hundred people that on the
this Saturday get a shirtless waters poster vintage vintage. And
(01:14:07):
I heard Kenny Powers is going to be signing as well.
Let me tell you something. Uh, I gotta, I gotta
can I put an opinion out there. I just gotta
get this off my chest. Go ahead. We hear all
the time, and I know you you know where where
(01:14:28):
my heart lies was football. I'm a little bit of
a purist, okay, but we hear all the time. The
scoring is better for the league, right all the time,
and that's why ratings are up and so on and
so forth. If you put the Chiefs Rams game aside,
this game was as exciting and as entertaining as any
(01:14:48):
football game we've had all year, in my opinion, to
ten games other than the Chiefs Rams game, which was
so But if you're talking about so which game, then
which game was? Was a better football game? Was better
for people to watch? I would that's for a different
reason because who you're talking about. Cowboys fans are just
(01:15:10):
fans in general. Yeah, I'll take this one myself sitting
in the chair here. But because again that's I'm three
yards in a cloud of dust. Still, Yeah, well, you're
a big team. Was pretty unless I'm not remembering well,
that game was pretty cleanly officiated. This game was a little,
a little floppy toye, but point holds that fans still
(01:15:31):
like good defense. And I mean this, this Cowboys defense,
This isn't being a homer. I mean really, if they
swarmed the ball, they are something else. I mean maybe,
I don't know what you guys think if they can
go far in the playoffs. I like the Bears attacking
Devens being able to put points on the board a
little bit more, but still makes his team a lot
more viable. A big visit from Jeff Heath and a
(01:15:54):
used car salesman also known as Michael Fabiano and Elliott Harrison.
Cowboy fans extraordinary? Who are gonna be pouring champagne over
each other's shirtless bodies after this win tonight? Charlie Water,
he didn't bring up Charlie Water. Hey wait, Elliott, real quick,
sorry before you let you go. He is in a
current Charlie Waters shirtless poster or back when he was
(01:16:16):
playing it, back when he's playing. But I don't know
if I mentioned that that Pulsar had an Alpine day.
John comes back to the Pulsar with a roof great
stuff there. Yeah, they're gonna be happy as as anything tonight.
(01:16:39):
So coming up next, we'll continue to break down this game.
You know, for a second I really thought we had Jeff.
I was really excited to talk to secondary and schemes
and and their closing speed. Now we're talking about gone.
This is Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason
Smith Show with my Bay friend Mike Harmon, live from
(01:17:02):
the Geico Studios, as we react to the Cowboys victory
over the New Orleans Saints. Your cow my Cowboys. I
picked them to pull the big upset tonight. They came
through for me. The game clinched on Jordan Lewis's interception
with less than three minutes left to go, and the
man of the hour joins us now on the hotline. Jordan,
(01:17:22):
congratulations on the WINDP Can you hear us? Yes, the
congratulations on the wind. Thank you. I really appreciate it,
all right, So tell me about the play. You're the
big hero. You held on to that football. Yeah, just
going off there on on instincts. Man, just melt my
eyes to the quarterback, and you know, it was amazing
pressure by the D line. I really appreciate those guys
(01:17:44):
and that that definitely did it. Man. So it still
was amazing to close the game like that. Now, I
know you made the play. But when you're walking off,
are you saying, all right, I had my hands under it, right?
Are you looking up at the big scoreboard and look
and saying I had my hands under it, right, I
have my hands under it? Yeah? Man, I I knew
it was no question that I had my hands under it. Uh.
I fell, my elbows scraped the ground. So I pretty
I was pretty sure that I got n Hey, you
(01:18:06):
want to hear how it sounded on TV? Yeah, go ahead,
play it, Braise back under press the pass, scepting dirt loss.
That's two dirt loss, get uspting praise. It's excited and
you kept that ball too, right of course, may anytime,
(01:18:27):
Bree and you definitely gotta keep You're gonna get take
him to and to get him to sign it. No,
I don't know. That's not feel much, man. I'm just
appreciative that I got it. Hey, just call us back
after you could use that for your ring tone. Fantastic.
Over the course of the night, though, Jordan's I mean
we watched and Jason and I we you know, as
(01:18:48):
everybody did break it down this game coming in, Brash
talked from the defensive line that backed it up and
you guys swarming to the ball. I mean, how do
you keep that intensity for sixty minutes on this team? Uh?
Just just you know our fundamentals on defense. That's that's
our our fundamental on defense, just going to the ball,
ling to the ball, and you know, effort when whenever
you do that with you know, amazing talent around us,
(01:19:10):
great things happening. What was your game plan going and
knowing here's this offense, how great they've been, how are
we going to slow them down? Uh? Just do what
we do. Honestly, we I mean, we have an amazing
coach of staff that you know that understands football man,
and we just we just came out there and did
what we normally do, and we came out there and
executed at a very high level. Jordan Lewis joining us
(01:19:30):
after the big Cowboys win over the Saints tonight thirteen
ten year final. Jordan's a couple of weeks ago. I mean,
let's call what it is. Everybody left the Cowboys for dead?
What changing? Was there a moment in that locker room? Uh,
we just understood that, Like you said, it was just
us in our locker room. So whatever anybody said, positive
or negative, that we always had to have each other's
(01:19:51):
back and we have to fight for each other. And uh,
the past four weeks, that's exactly what we've been doing.
And we're just excited to continue to execute on this
this level that we've been been doing. Now, tell me
the truth and I watched me truth on this. Does
winning tonight and having that interception? Does that get you passed?
Ohio States victory over Michigan last that the brown I
(01:20:12):
think I said that, Noah brown Man, Yeah, that's still things. Man.
I'm kind of upset we don't get a chance to
go to the final four. But you know, hopefully we
finished very strong in this Bowl game and you know,
see what happens next year. Hey Jordan, they're not out categorically, man,
they put him into that stop gap at number seven.
You never know, crazy things happening a few teams to lose.
We need, we need, we definitely do, especially in these conference. Uh,
(01:20:35):
we might need Northwestern pull upstate. So there you go
my Northwestern. Yeah, Mike went to Northwestern, so and my
wife went to Michigan too, so you know we have
all this in common exactly. Hopefully coach Pat just one,
you know, the coach of the year and the big thing,
so hopefully got some of this place. Jordan Lewis big
I n t the Cowboys with the thirteen ten victories,
(01:20:55):
saving the Cowboys. Congratulations on the big win. And have
you as a uh Jerry Jones said anything to you
after the game yet has he come up and said anything?
Uh No, not yet. You know, Jerry loves you know,
big moment, so you know, I'm probably you know what,
he might sign the football for you. I signed some
(01:21:15):
big checks too. All right, there you go. We'll put
it in the case. Worry. Jordan Lewis, big game, Thanks
for stopping by, keep on keeping on, no problem, Thank you,
Thanks Jordan, Jordan, And I told him again you got it,
I got it in. He was fantastic, he was fun.
I had accepted you when we played the call for him.
I accepted accepted Drew Brees. But how come would that
(01:21:38):
have been if he had? Hey, Drew, thanks something, We
signed this ball for Me's got it right here. That's
fifteen yards in game though, right, awesome stuff from Jordan
Lewis right there. If you missed any of it, will
play it back again. He was a lot of fun.
But coming up next, we're waiting for the Luminaries hit
the podium. You'll hear from Dak Pres, Scott, Jerry Jones,
(01:21:59):
Sean Payton, Drew Brees as we break down the Cowboys
third team ten victory and what it means from my
Cowboys because I picked him to win, winning this big
game on Thursday night, Fox. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays
at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific Fox Sports Radio.
(01:22:21):
That was a wild last half hour live from the
Geiko Studios where fifteen minutes can save you fifteen cent
more in card. Sure it's more info visit Geiko dot com.
So in case you're just tuning in and I will
pull back the curtain for you here for a second.
Hear from Jason Garrett, just finishing meeting the media in
a couple of moments. So the Cowboys beat the Saints,
(01:22:44):
My Cowboys because I picked him to win tonight. You
were very excited. Everything I said that was gonna happen,
Why the Cowboys are gonna win happened. So a few
minutes ago we had Jordan Lewis on the show. Yeah,
Buddy saved the game for the Cowboys, had the big
pick of Drew Brees in the final three minutes. Cowboys
able to run the clock. App he was awesome, said
told some fun stories. We played the play by play
(01:23:05):
of his interception form, and he was a college football
playoff analysis. I mean, come on, we can still make
it a Michigan guy. We could still make it if
teams lose in front of us. But before that we
thought we were gonna get Jeff Heath Cowboys safety. Now
I was pretty excited about that. Now Here's the deal
is that on Mondays and Thursdays when there's NFL games,
we have reporters who are out at these games and
(01:23:27):
they go in the locker room after and they're called stringers,
and we you know, they talked to Justin Frostburg and
they go, Okay, I'm in the locker room. Who do
you want? And Justin gives him a list of players
and they try to get what we want, something that
had a big game, that made a big play, and
they go out said okay, Gret and Justin said Listen,
Dak Prescott or Zikil Elliott, Jordan Lewis. You know DeMarcus Lawrence.
You know, you say whoever you ever know, who's gonna
(01:23:48):
come on, And Jordan Lewis came on. It was great
because he had the big interception. So about a half
hour ago, you and I were talking and Frostburg gets
in my ear and he says, hey, go to the
hotline right now. Cowboys safety Jeff Heath. And I'm going, Okay,
I don't think Jeff Heath had in my head. I'm
going I didn't think he had a big game. Was
still part of the secondary. Right, the secondary, they did
(01:24:10):
a great job. Defense for the Cowboys is gonna be
the bigger story than the offense. Right, they slowed down,
They vanquished the great Drew Brees angry Sean Payton as
Alex Marvez called him for a couple of weeks on
the show. So Jeff Heathen made sense. Alright, cool and alright.
So we're grabbing Jeff heats seeing what his stats were
for tonight, and then we welcome, I welcome to the show.
(01:24:31):
And I hear you know, let Jason, this is gonna go.
Oh it's Fabiano. So it's Michael Fabiano, NFL Network Fantasy
Hall of Famer, a big Cowboy fence for a moment.
It might have been the most personable and uh, yeah,
it's like, how you doing? Like I listen to you
guys all the time. So the best part of it
was while this is going on and we're talking, before
(01:24:53):
you know, I knew right away it was Fabio. I'm sure,
I'm sure most most everybody listening to it was Fabiano. Uh.
Our social media team. Ryan calls up Frostberg and says, hey,
should I be tweeting out that? Jason mica Al talking
to Jeff eat right, I'll show pull up the listing
for the eight three Uh, trying to sell a Cowboys roster. Yeah,
(01:25:15):
you think I was really gonna get you, Jeff? You
said go to the hot I had to know. That's it, right,
It's all about cell cell cell Jeff. We we got yeah,
we got that, as well as some of the accessories
(01:25:37):
from that car, that three car they were trying. It
is a sweet ride. Ryan tweeting out right now, how
about a Fresca and swollen? Don't talking to Jeff Heath
talking about a used nine three car tweet? That would
have been kind of a big deal though. I mean,
if you really start now, I want to talk about
the game. That's great. I bet I got this car
retweeted by the Cowboys. Probably I'll we'd be in like
(01:25:58):
dead Spin tomorrow or something or yeah, or Yard Barker.
You're gonna be on Cold Takes anyway? What? No, I'm not. No,
I'm I'm on Red Hot Takes tonight because I had
I had my Cowboys winning this game. I haven't figured
out yet, but it will my Cowboys. They just cycle
back to Andrew Luck want again. But this is the
(01:26:20):
big deal, and we're gonna get to Jason Garrett in
a couple of seconds. But look, let's just break things
down because he started to do this and then Jeff
Heath called it was Fabiano and Elliot Harrison and then
it was really Jordan Lewis. What if I you know,
what what if I had not thought it was Jordan Lewis?
What if I thought it was Fabiano? And go the
hell are you calling back? How did you get through? Again? Hello?
(01:26:41):
There anymore? What what do you want? Fabiano? You haven't
bought lunch in like three weeks? What this is Jordan Lewis? Oh? Hey,
sorry about that thought you were never mind? How is
the game tonight, buddy, And you tell Jordan Lewis Cowboys
suck could have done that. Your fantasy advice is over rady.
What are you talk What are you talking about? Man,
(01:27:01):
don't even play fantasy football. But what happened tonight? When
I said my Cowboys, because my cowboy emphasized that quite
a bit. And I say it because I picked them
to win two nights ago. I told you, I said, look,
I'd have a feeling this is not going to go
the Saints way tonight. This is what's going to happen,
and this is why the Cowboys are gonna win the game.
(01:27:23):
If you think I'm lying, go back on Twitter. I
tweeted it out it happened. Number one was look, once
in a while a team is due for a stinker
of a game, and this looked like a game. It's
Thursday Night, National TV. Both teams have been awful weeks
since playing Thursday Night. If anything was gonna happen, it
would be tonight because the Cowboys defense has been playing
(01:27:44):
really well and they were very motivated coming into this game.
To Marcus Lawrence was talking about choking out the Saints
offensive line. Oh, they got a lot of run, right,
the offensive line. We joked about it, the number of
graphics and little info info cards that were circling of
how often Drew Brees wasn't getting hit, how many sacks,
all these great metrics that were going up. So for
(01:28:06):
the Dallas defensive front. Yeah, very motivating. Yeah, this was
gonna be a game that the Saints were gonna Okay,
when you look at the end of the season, you're
gonna go yep, and they lost. They lost three games
this year and here's the second one was game on
Thursday night to the cow This is the one also
they're celebrating here in Los Angeles because Rams fans now
(01:28:27):
we might have to roll through the Dome that the
road to uh the Super Bowl can now come through us.
Huge game in that regard as well. We should get
that Super Bowl ring. But yeah, the other reason I said,
I said, look Sames do for a stinker. Cowboys are
gonna play very physical and what did we see tonight.
The main reason the Cowboys were able to win this
(01:28:48):
game is because every single play they were in on
Drew Brees early and they made him throw the football
before he was ready to throw. They only sacked him twice,
but every play was, here's Drew Breese and I gotta
throw it a little bit earlier. He couldn't go downfield
at all. There was no downfield game at all. There
was a lot of dump offs because he had to.
And when they dumped it off, the Cowboys defense athletic
(01:29:11):
was there to meet Camara or whoever he threw it
too in the flat and they were able to stop
plays that Hey, here's a line of scrimmage passed by Camara.
Instead of a two yard game, it turned into a
fifteen yard game. Those two yard games turned into four
yard games, and that wasn't nearly enough for the Saints.
The cow was able to make Drew Brees throw the
ball before he wanted to, and they made him do
that all night long. You thought, Okay, this final drive
(01:29:32):
is gonna come up and they're gonna get the ball back,
and they wind up getting a good calling a pass
interference penalty. So the Cowboys were able to run out
the clock. But certainly their defense closed in this game.
And I was looking forward to that final drive because
I wanted to see, Okay, the Cowboys defense is closed
all night, can they close on this final drive. They
didn't have to because they got the pass interference call. Yeah,
two thirty five left is when Breeze took the field,
(01:29:55):
and then you look at the play calling and we
started to debate it. Right, how aggressive do you get
sure enough? They try to go to Cooper in the
back of the end zone, you catch Lattimore with his
back to the ball and his arms on Cooper. You
get the call and and just run out clock. Fantasy
owners upset because they didn't get that one yard touchdown
plunge from Ezekiel Elliott. But you know what, they'll have
(01:30:16):
to push through impressive work as you talk about closing, speed,
sure handed, tackling, all those things that have become a
hallmark of what this Dallas defense has been for weeks
Dan Buyer and I do in our Sunday breakdowns weekend
week out. How well they've covered on the outside has
certainly been noticed. But the lack of yack is really
(01:30:39):
what it comes down to. Yack here before the Saints
is really what it comes down to. Right, Breeze in
the short and intermediate routes, you had a just great
closing speech. You had a couple of terrible efforts by
the officials in terms of penalties missed on both sides,
So officiating, you'll take a little bit of a hit
coming out of this game. But it's an instant classic, right,
(01:31:01):
you want to talk about this is what you want
as a football fan, all right, Drew Brees, your ball
down three, go go to it, and you've got a
great finish. The other thing that we pointed out the
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon was that the Cowboys
were gonna find a way to run the football effectively
enough on the st Stephen Saints had the best rush
defense in the NFL, and while Ezekiel Elliott didn't go crazy,
(01:31:26):
he certainly found enough room for the Cowboys to move
the football down the field enough. Look, he had that
big twenty yard run at the end of the game
that made it look like he had a great game.
He ran for seventy six and he caught sixty yards
and passed. Yeah, but what's the most important line. What's
the most important line? All of that three carries. That's
an awful lot of NFL game clock that runs off
(01:31:46):
on twenty three carries, which means while you've been great
against Drew Brees, that means he's not getting back on
the field too quickly, and your defense is rested and
ready to go attack again. Everything we said about my Cowboys,
every reason I said they were going to in this game,
and they want. I feel like the greatest prognosticator in
the world. Right now, you can bet heroes just for
(01:32:07):
one day. Uh, let's listen right now. A little bit
of Jason Garrett, who met the media moments ago, now
that his job as Cowboys head coach is probably pretty safe. Well, obviously,
everybody's important. The game was going to start up front
on both sides of the ball. We had to win
the physical battle in the trenches. I thought we did that.
Our linebackers are very active, and they have to be
against those guys. I mean, both those runners are just outstanding,
(01:32:29):
outstanding runners and uh and really good receivers. They're a
big part of what they try to do in the
passing games. So they had to be able to guard them. Uh,
and they had to be aware of where they were
in his own and do a good job tackling them
in space and then just covering them in man to man.
I thought we did a good job of that throughout.
Did you get a feeling in practice this result might
be like this, but based on what you saw the
(01:32:49):
tame and practice. Yeah, our team works really hard. They
come to work every day and they get locked in
on what we need to do each day and our
preparation leading up to these ball games. We just try
to take it one day to on, one step at
a time, try to practice well, stack good days on
top of each other, and and let that preparation show
up in the game. I thought it did throughout our
team tonight. What was your reaction to Jordan Lewis his
(01:33:10):
interception the time play when you guys had to have it. Yeah,
just a huge play. And you know, Jordan has been
a guy who who has made a lot of players
on the ball for us. He was gonna have a
big role in this game tonight. We played some dime
in the game because of all the skill that they
have on offense, and he did a good job covering
and obviously that's the biggest play in the game. To
be able to take the ball away on that last
drive and then the game there was huge. And uh,
(01:33:31):
he just has a knack for it. He's always around
the ball. He's got really good hands, a really good feel,
and that was a huge playing the game for us. Jason,
you said your team that worked hard all week long
and no other game playing you had, and the emotions
that the guys that coming here because you envisioned holding
that offense. Ten. Yeah. Again, our defense did an excellent job.
And uh, you know, we have great respect for their offense,
(01:33:54):
the skill that they have. We just can't believe it
out of here day. It's like this really happened. That's great.
Guys like drinking a beer, Yeah, popping that champagne. He's
into the slide over baby hour early. All right, let's
get to either rest of it. The biggest thing we
tried to do is focus on ourselves and play the
(01:34:15):
way we're capable of playing. Play sound, fundamental defense, play fast,
play physical, win the lot of scrimmage, be a great
tackling team, contest throws. All the things we try to
emphasize day in and day out had to show up
in this ball game for sixty minutes. And uh, one
of the big keys to this game was handled the
success of the game and keep playing. Handled the adversity
of the game, and keep playing. It was gonna be
(01:34:36):
a sixty minute game. You know. We got out in
front of this thing. I did a good job stopping
him defensively. I did a good job possessing the football offensively.
We got ahead, but we knew they'd keep coming, and
we had to keep coming, and we made some critical
stops at the end of the ball game. Everybody had
a piece of it. Well after the three wins in
eleven days. Now, how big is this to have ten
(01:34:57):
days to kind of let some nicks and get it.
But he rested up here. Yeah, you know when you
play Thursday Thursday. Uh, this Thanksgiving schedule we've been on
the last few years. Uh, this is kind of the
second bye week after Thanksgiving. And Uh, our guys did
a really good job preparing over this last month or so.
No one that we had a lot of football in
a short period of time. They're very professional and take
(01:35:19):
care of their bodies, getting their mind and spirit right
to practice the right way and play the right way.
Now we do get a chance to to heal up
a little bit for the next three days. We'll get
back to work on Monday and get ready for the
next challenge. Wait a minute, he just asked me about
the Knicks, and Jason Garrett completely blew the question. He
blew that off. He didn't want to talk about that nonsense.
The Knicks were hot. They lost a game, but then
they were hot. I mean he asked me about the Knicks,
(01:35:40):
tried to do a minor Hey, we had the Thursday Thursday, Like, no,
you had a full week to recover since Thanksgiving. But
you know now you get extra days off, Junior and Fisdale,
all the stuff going, Phil, Phil, it's not still the
regular season. Just a fun effort from the Dallas defense.
And certainly this is your Drew Brees moment of raising
(01:36:03):
your hand and go what happened? That's all. That's all
you're gonna ask Sean Payton and Drew Brees and and
look the reporters were asking Jason Garrett that what what happened?
And how did this? How did you do this? I
want to know what Jason Garrett thinks about the Knicks
and answer, no, it's not you felt you gotta coming
(01:36:24):
up next. So now that we have seen Cowboys thirteen,
Saints ten and Rams fifty four, Chiefs fifty one, we
will light up a big debate. Fox whoa, whoa, whoa?
You said light it up? I did say that? Didna
off the week? All the week. Duh Fox Sports Radio
(01:36:54):
that Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmen
Live from the guy goes to videos For a second,
I thought the Lakers were giving up this huge early
twenty point lead to Hickory, but they have now pushed
the lead back out to nine. Lakers lead the Indiana
Pacers right now in the second half, and the Pacers
(01:37:17):
wearing Hickory jerseys. Isn't that a home team kind of
thing to do? Though? Well, they made the movie, and
I mean it's it's Hollywood made. I didn't get that,
but it's just dumb swear him at home? Wow, look
at you? Really upset? Um? You know, I don't really care.
I just hope they'd put forth a little better effort
if they got up off the mat after laying down
(01:37:39):
for the first quarters. So I get I'll give him
credit there minute ago in the third quarter in the
Lakers lead the Pacers. Lebron with twenty four six assist
five rebounds, also has a couple of steals. But I
gotta say the Hickory uniforms, I mean they they make
the Pacers look a little slower. I gotta say, you
know that. Yeah, the old style of the uniform, you know,
(01:38:00):
before the players getting bigger, stronger, faster than last year.
They make him look a little slower, kind of like
when you wear black sneakers. Ah, you're not as fast
wearing black sneakers as you are wearing white sneakers. You
know that whole thing. I'm just slow, son. Colors of
sneakers never really mattered to me. Uh, slow of foot,
and well I'm not not a tall man smith, so
(01:38:22):
it really limited my production. Production in the basketball world.
The Pacers, maybe they will run the picket fence a
couple of times, but we just had a hard fall.
Have to get the ball to ship. Would look Merle
can carry them as long as he can, but really
you gotta make sure Jimmy gets the ball and he
(01:38:42):
raised good you know, you know, raking it from the
outside once in a while. You don't want to have
to bring Ali off the bench and he can give
you a couple of minutes. We need more people named Merle. Guys. Look,
Luke's trying to call play the Lebron. Lebron just sip off.
Lebron's going, don't tell me he's looking at me. Don't
tell k CP. Don't tell me getting here. Now he's
(01:39:03):
he's looking at you. Don't tell me he's running at me.
I'm not gonna look at him. I'm not gonna looking
David Blatt with the flyover as well, uh somebody and
will keep you updated on that. Lebron in the Lakers
leading Hickory seventy four. The Hickory's got the Nike swoosh on.
And now I say, hey, we're gonna capitalize on that
and get in there and sell, sell, sell, I see that,
and I think of Stephen Barris. Remember what Stephen Berries
(01:39:23):
is around Stephen Berries. They were the big discount not discount,
but they were a big clothing store, sports clothing store,
and they provided like all kinds of sweatshirts, both throwback
and regular. It was really cheap, No, I don't. They
wad Couard in Port Washington, New York though, but they
went out of business. But Stephen Berries, like in the
in the late nineties early two thousands, you could get like, boy,
(01:39:46):
this is a great Varsity Syracuse jacket. It's nineteen dollars,
nicely done. Where um if you search that in your
Google machine. The third reference of people also ask is
what store sells Starberry shooting. So there you go. They
went out of business in two thousand eight two thousand nine.

Sean Payton coming up in a few minutes. See how
I've said he is following the Saints loss of the Cowboys.
But now let's have this conversation. We saw the Cowboys
(01:40:29):
beat the Saints tonight thirteen ten, very entertaining game. It
was amazing to watch the Dallas Cowboys defense just throttle
the Saints. The the Cowboys defense played fantastic. You can't
cut it up any other way. They out physical the Saints.
They were more athletic than the Saints offense was. They
forced Drew Bees to throw the football earlier than he
wanted to. And it really was something watching this offense,
(01:40:52):
which was unstoppable throughout the season, gets stopped on Thursday night. Well,
and you look at the number of times that you
had wide open receivers and they footsteps. More drop passes
by the Saints, I think that we've seen most of
this season. You had the touchdown pass that should have
been to tray Kwon Smith, that was his only target
of the game. Now he was floating in the vicinity
(01:41:14):
of the touchdown pass that did actually occur from Drew Brees,
but that was his only target, and you saw that
just good work on the outside, but a number of
guys just here in footsteps because you're thinking about what
you're doing after the catch, which is such a huge
part of the Saints game. The way Drew Brees operates,
and they closed out brilliantly. You're gonna see this game
(01:41:34):
is gonna have incredibly high ratings because it's the Dallas
Cowboys and it's the Saints. It's gonna have great numbers
after and it was fun to watch and it was exciting.
But put this game up against Rams fifty four, Chiefs
fifty one, the two schools of thought, that a debate
that's always gonna gonna keep going to will ignite it
right here. What's a better game, what's a more fun
(01:41:58):
game to watch? What was better fifty one or thirteen ten,
and you get your offensive purists, and you have your
defensive purists. You know, your fans of offense. You look.
Elliot Harrison was on with us NFL network UH Insider
a little while ago, and he said, you know, it's
just fun. So you call me, call me an old
school throwback guy, but I like defense. And yeah, you
(01:42:18):
don't need to be a throwback guy to like defense.
You could. You could be a thirty year old man
and like defense in the NFL. It happens that way.
But to say which is the better game, which is
the more fun game? Fifty one or thirteen ten, the
answer is fifty one. And it's pretty easy why. Offense
(01:42:39):
is always gonna win because fifty fifty one is gonna
give you more thrills and chills and celebration and exciting
moments than thirteen ten will. Because a fifty yard touchdown
pass is always gonna be much more fun to celebrate
and watch and react to than a stop on third
and two when a running back get stopped the line
(01:42:59):
of scrim bitch. I mean, that's ad. It's a big
play right there. But when you're comparing scoring plays and
big plays, two, here's an incomplete pass on third down,
another stop by the Cowboys defense. The offense is more exciting.
It just gives you more wow moments, and you want
to see wow moments, and yeah, could you be wowed
by defense, but not nearly what you are when you
(01:43:20):
see what goes on offensively, especially in that game. See
this is where I'm the big nerd in that there.
I was just a lot of times when we were
in the studio it was laughing. We're laughing thinking we
should have had joysticks in our hands and that we
should have been playing a video game because there were
defensive players. Right, You had eight turnovers overall, you had
three defensive touchdowns. You did have defense coming up in
(01:43:43):
big spots. But this game, when you're talking about Drew
Brees and the myth making, right, because what's it all been?
All Right, here's Aaron Rodgers over here, and everybody tried
to bolster his camp and then he's been just a
guy the last few weeks and for much of this year.
Completion percentage way down. And you can tell me his
receivers are hurt. You can tell me everybody plays with
(01:44:03):
fifty three. Injuries are part of the game, and him
throwing at the back of the guy's leg multiple times
on third down in multiple games, not just once a
multiple times. I gotta say, you have mentioned a lot
about guys throwing at the back of guys like you
have mentioned you're not even waiting now, listen, I know
you have a calf thing, but but this is like
the third time this week you have mentioned, you know,
(01:44:24):
when you're throwing a football at the back of a
guy's leg, when you're throwing the football to guy's calf,
I think you're just defaulting to that. Okay, you want
me to continue with the fact that Aaron Rodgers can't
beat good teams. Point, it's like you you focus on
the calf. It's like a fetish over the calf. You
throw to the cafe. No no, no. But the point
no no, because here's here's why I distinguished with that
is the fact that a lot of the argument is always,
(01:44:45):
let's blame Mike McCarthy. Mike McCarthy didn't throw the ball
at the back of the guy's legs, so Aaron Rodgers,
that's on him. So that's a very specific, okay, example
of a failure by Aaron Rodgers that most people won't
don't point out and say you called a bad play
or that receiver did this. No, he threw a bad pass,
and he's thrown a lot of them over the course
of this season. But lost in all of that, you
(01:45:08):
started to see the surge of Drew Brees. What he's doing.
All right, here's all the background narrative. We had the
feature with Jay Glazer, here's all the days back to
San Diego and the injury and going to Miami or
ending in New Orleans and and all these systems, And
now you've had myth mill making. And then you have
the Cowboys come out and say, hey, we're gonna choke
him out. So you have that battle, and that each
(01:45:30):
possession meant that much more. And every time it was
set up, all right, here's Drew Brees, he's gonna do
Drew Brees things. How many guys do you know in
our media world or Cowboys fans all across social media
and in their homes were losing their mind every time
Drew Brees took the field, going all right, it takes
one play. All of his great work, we're beating the
(01:45:51):
hell out of him. We've dominated this game. It takes
one slip from a cornerback and Drew Brees is that
trigger man, right, It's the same thing that people have
doing with Aaron Rodgers. Don't give him the ball back
too much time for Aaron Rodgers. No, forget that, score
the points and Darren to beat you. Same thing here,
Drew Brees gets the ball back. What do they do?
They stay aggressive defensively and we we see the the
(01:46:13):
interception to seal things off. So I think, for me,
I'll take this where I'm on the edge of my seat,
because each possession holds that much more distinction versus Hey,
who's getting the ball? But but but you don't think
that that's the same cases that do you have to score?
Otherwise you're giving the ball back to a team like
the defense and the special teams coming into play versus
(01:46:35):
pinball numbers. It's much like I like watching good acting
on a screen instead of a cartoon or I you know,
it's great to see, Hey, this is a period piece
and here's a depressing movie about something depressing. But the
actors in it are really really good. And boy, at
the end of the movie, you go, boy, they were
both really good. But man, was that depressing? I'm not
(01:46:57):
saying that that has always gotta be Avengers. But you
know you want to see something that brings you out
of your seat more. Boy, this gives me something. I
don't know what I'm gonna see next. And this guy,
and I mean it ended with Jerry Jones standing up
and claiming victory. It's like, did you like when the Pistons,
you know, beat the Lakers in five games in two
thousand four? When the scores are it was it? It
(01:47:21):
is a long time? Is it more exciting when you
watch the Warriors playing and they play and they win
games one thirty three eight? I mean that's more exciting.
You have more three m usually blow outs Twitter at

Mike will tell you defense. But remember he's a big

ten guy. You're gonna hear from Sean Payton coming up
in a couple of minutes. What did he have to
say following the surprise Saints lost? But first let's find
out what deb Carson has to say with what's trending?
D you see? Well the Cowboys stifled the Saints thirteen
to ten. And in New Orleans ten game win street,
New Orleans falls to ten and two of their first
road loss of the season. Dallas's defense held the Saints
(01:48:02):
to a season low ten points, holding Drew Brees to
just a hundred eleven passing yards on eighteen and twenty
eight passing Bruise also through an interception, just his third
pick of the season. Here we are at ten and two.
Obviously we had we had won ten in a row,
which felt like we had. Man, we were rolling, you know,
and uh so, now it's now it's time to get
(01:48:24):
that mojo back and get back to work. When we
get back and get ready to roll. Dallas meanwhile improves
to seven and five, having won four in a row.

(01:49:08):
So as we watch tonight, Dallas Cowboys pulled the thirteen
ten upset victory over the New Orleans Saints. My Cowboys.
About those cowboys. The Cowboys are right now though, four
games remaining. Here's the remaining schedule. Philadelphia at home at Indie,
Tampa Bay at home at the Giants. They should win
three or four for a team that was left for dead.
(01:49:33):
Look the two teams that I told look and they
still aren't very good. The Cowboys and the Seahawks certainly
have winnable games coming up or they can get to night. Look,
nine wins is gonna get you in the playoffs. Nine
nine wins will probably win the NFC East just because
of how of how it is. I mean, I will
probably get nine at seven will get you in, should
get you probably. But for the Saints they have loftier expectations.
(01:49:56):
Tonight's loss could be the loss that forces them to
have to win in Los Angeles rather than have the
Rams come to New Orleans for the NFC Championship Game
a big loss. Sean Payton met the media a few
moments ago. Let's take a list of the Saints head
coach listening. Played played with great energy. They were on
the edge. You know, their front, it's a tough front
to handle. Um, you saw that all season. If you
(01:50:18):
really watch a lot of tape, you'd see it. But nonetheless, though,
I mean they did a fantastic job. Well we'll see
the film. I mean collectively, they played real good team defense.
And uh, you know we didn't. We didn't do enough.
I didn't do enough things as a team. Even I
know you've been aggressive. On fourth down, we went into
the decision to go forward, line went forward. No, I mean, listen,
(01:50:43):
what do you do when you challenge play and gets
you know? No, no, I mean we got the the
ball of the completion and um no, well look number one,
they were in longer situation, longer yarded situations. You know,
we weren't really good on the early down. We didn't
have the balance that we've had in the prior games. Um,
(01:51:05):
we struggled running the ball with any consistency. Uh, and
then you know, we didn't want to get into one
dimensional game. So I think the the common thread, without
getting into or seeing any of the game tape, would
be that we were behind the chains a lot. You know,
we were in seven or more eight or more. Um,
(01:51:27):
you know, we didn't we didn't make enough happened on
the first and second downs in the game. And you
have been some games you play where you know you
don't have a lot of third downs because you're operating efficiently,
but that wasn't the case certainly in this game. Well,
so it's it's part of the challenge each week, you know,
force the team to become one dimensional offensively, you want
(01:51:48):
to be able to have balance in Um, those are
some of the things that you know you work too
correct and uh, we've got to do a better job
with his coaches to correct Alright. So there's Seawan Payton him.
When we talked to Jay Glazer earlier in the show tonight,
he had said, look, Sean Payton was scared about this game.
It's one thing to try to motivate your team when
they're winning and there's things you can say, but when
(01:52:10):
you're scoring like they are, their offense was close to perfect.
Their defense and the best rush defense in the NFL.
How do you continue to ride your players? Get him
to buy in about the sense of urgency in games,
because it just gets hard. You think we're working hard,
we're going out, we're executing, we're gonna win games, and
that's really what this is. Sean Payton is not so
(01:52:30):
distressed by this, because, yeah, while he wanted to win
to keep pace with the Rams, you don't want to
have to go on the road. It is gonna be
easier if the Saints have to go on the road
in Los Angeles, and say the Saints have to go
on the road in Chicago in the playoffs. But there's
still a lot of football left and losing this game
will allow him to refocus. I'd be surprised if the
Saints lost another game this season. I'd be surprised if
(01:52:51):
they didn't finish fourteen and two. There you go, here's
your final four games. We did the same with the Cowboys.
The Saints have a three game road trip. This the
first game it and they take the thirteen ten loss
next week when they get back after it on the
road at Tampa Bay. Let's chuck that one up. Uh,
then a on the road at Carolina, okay, Cam Newton
(01:53:13):
and company. Then home against the Steelers tie shirt Steelers squad,
and then week seventeen home against the Panthers. So those
great scheduling quirks where you get a division opponent also
vying for a playoff berth twice in the final three weeks.
So some dramas still here, and certainly for home field advantage,
(01:53:36):
but the Saints. But in theory, this is the Hey,
let's get our heads on right. We did a lot
of things wrong here drop passes, we didn't create space.
We missed a couple of blocks on the edges that
might have been able to spring Cameara for big gains.
We didn't protect the pocket well, Drew under durest all
Night couldn't get that classic Drew Brees arch to throw
(01:53:57):
the ball down field, had to short arm at White
a bit. And so you rally the troops and and regroup,
and you burn this tape and move on. Yeah, I'm
not worried about the last I know at the Panthers
seems great, But the Panthers have a lot of problems
right issue. And you have the Steelers and the Panthers
to finish the season both at home. So I I
if they if they finished more than less than fourteen
(01:54:19):
and two, I'd be surprised. I mean I I don't
see them losing one of those big tough games against them.
Not the way the Panthers are right now. They just
can't score enough. No, I just think that this is
your punch in the mouth phase. And that's where I
put it up on Twitter a little bit earlier at
swooll And Dome. They didn't respond, right, the Cowboys. It
was just a bunch of blows. We were at the
(01:54:39):
boxing remote yesterday, so perhaps that's what I've got in mind.
But here you have the Cowboys win the game out
right ten. But they went on points all the way
through of just blow after blow, administered debris and all
of the just big defensive plays, you know, except for
a couple of upend penalties. You know, they put this
(01:55:02):
game away even even easier. Yeah, I would even say
that I have more if I had to bet which
team would lose a game another one the rest of
the season. All Right, The toughest game the Saints are
gonna have is at the Panthers. The toughest game the
Rams are gonna have is at the Bears in December.
Now the other games they should roll through. They play
the Lions this week, then their home against the Eagles.
(01:55:24):
You know, look Eagles, but they're not the Eagles of
last year. Then they finished Cardinals forts that should be
too easy, fifty point wins. But that game at the Bears,
they could lose that. And they can't lose that one
game and still keep home field. So they still have
the tougher schedule because of that one game against the
Bears than the Saints do the rest of the way.
Drama coming down to the wire, but a thriller on
(01:55:46):
Thursday night football. However you like your football, put it
up on on swollen doma on Twitter. Uh, whether you
like the big, high scoring affair you like your or
do you like a slugfest? Or options? See was I
love all two fifty six? Yeah? People, people don't tweet
if they like defense. Defensive fans aren't on Twitter. Offensive
fans tweet offense. They love aggressive offensive fans. I like
(01:56:09):
that eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox Twitter at

Sometimes you gotta stretch. You can't if it's a slide
over baby, you can't. Yeah, I'm excited. Yeah, that's the
(01:56:53):
slide of You know, you gotta stress and listen. Listen,
but lay off the weed. Uh when it's slide over baby.
When it's slide over baby, No, I get it. But
the music's on. You're not really talking that loud. You're
talking kind of sexy. If you're talking at all, Why
(01:57:16):
don't we spice it up tonight? Yeah, I mean that's
kind of what you're that's kind of how you're talking.
Maybe there's a lot of making out going on. There's
a lot of ways for this to get to it.
There's no point where it's like yeah and I'm excited happened. Now, No,
that ruins everything? How do you know? All right? I
(01:57:39):
believe it would probably ruin everything. Maybe on the other
side of ye know, I'm jacked up about it. And
there you go, Okay, okay, do you honestly think you
can be you give me with a woman and you're
talking about going in the bedroom or something, and and
she says okay, and you go, yeah, I'm jacked up
(01:57:59):
about it. And she's gonna say, yeah, let's go. No,
she's gonna say, oh, I forgot I gotta be specially
if you do it in my Southside Chicago. Ease. I'm
checked up about it. So do you want to go
have sex with me? Or do you want to go
home and go to sleep early because you gotta work earlier?
(01:58:20):
You gotta me. It's a Friday, you know, it's donuts Friday.
Who's goose? Maybe you gotta work from home situation. I'll
go home to my deep dish instead. Let's just go
into the bedroom like we were planning to. How does
that sound. I'm checked up about it. The deep dishes
in the bedroom, okay, Just to let you know, no,
(01:58:43):
it's not gonna Sometimes you want to bring food into
the mix. It's okay you no deep dishes something else
that's a euphemism. That's what we call that here. No,
it's not gonna work. It's not gonna work. What eight
seven seven? What else doesn't work is what we saw
(01:59:03):
tonight between the Saints and the Cowboys. Well, a full
breakdown of this game coming up in ten minutes. But
I'm gonna throw some numbers at you. Yeah, buddy, six, seven, yeah, four,
I just hit the lottery six seven four Sanchez Numeorous
(01:59:24):
siasin six the number of Fantasy points tonight from Drew Brees.
Seven the number of Fantasy points non PPR from Alvin Camara.
That's a kick in the teeth. Four the number of
Fantasy points non pr from Michael Thomas. Is that good?
(01:59:45):
That's not gonna get it done here in the final
week of the regular season. If you play, if you
play golf fantasy where you're trying it's one of those
crazy leagues where you try to have the lease points
in the week, then you would never have as that
is that the one you stream on Bleacher rewards. But
how many people are gonna miss the playoffs because it's
(02:00:07):
the final week of the regular season most fantasy leagues.
How many people are gonna miss the playoffs because of
these three results tonight for the Saints and the Cowboys
six seven and four six from Breeze, seven from Camara
and four from Michael Thomas. Yeah, that's just a brutal
trifecta right there. I mean, you're looking at your secondary
(02:00:28):
and tertiary players. It was gonna be tough to try
to argue tray Kwon Smith. Then it was gonna be
tough to argue Ben Watson into your lineup. But these
guys the set it and forget it, top notch stars
of the year that even in the we're gonna contain
them type situation, you're still looking at what you're expecting
to fifty and two, not out out of this world
(02:00:50):
numbers from Breeze, but just an average NFL ten performance,
and you know you got half of that. Yeah. Look,
this is this is one of the those cases where
and this is why NFL players say they hate fantasy,
because these are the games where people yell at these players,
they get on a Twitter, go you suck my team.
(02:01:11):
At least for some of these guys, it's a Thursday,
so you wait and see how the week plays out
before you get all the hate on like Tuesday morning.
But this is where people go on Twitter and they go, oh,
this is why I don't like Fantasy. This is what
people decide, say, you cost me my Fantasy championship. It's
all your fault. I wouldn't have been in. The thing
that folks forget is for the first twelve weeks of
the season, you're nowhere near sniffing a championship. If Drew
(02:01:34):
Brees isn't the excellence of execution, and Michael Thomas isn't
catching anything within his wingspan, and Alvin Kamara is not
running wild after the catch because that's where he's been
more explosive. Right, He's a great runner, but it's all
about yak and making big plays in the passing game,
and those didn't exist, you know, for my my purposes
(02:01:54):
as a back end number two looking at mark Ingram
hoping for a point blank range opportunity that never came.
So you're looking at basically a goose egg coming out
of him, a four point type nights, So you're you're
looking at really trying to play catch up here. And
fortunately this week a few better games on the slate
that we had last week. Yeah again and luckily because
(02:02:17):
that's the way the NFL should go. There, all the
later games on Sundays we get into Monday. You know,
those are the best games of the week. This week,
we're gonna have some fun one of those night football
is gonna be great. Texans Browns is gonna be a
big one. Be texting you all day long because you're
gonna have to decide which team you like Twitter at
how about Afresca, Mike and Swollen Dome coming up next.
Gonna hear from Drew Brees after the Saints Less. Wait,
(02:02:41):
we're gonna pick up the phone for Drew Brees. We're

(02:03:30):
win tonight over the New Orleans Saints thirteen to tenant
I say my Cowboys because I picked the Cowboys to
win this evening. I told you two days ago they
were gonna play physical, defensively, Ezekiel. It was gonna have
a good enough game, not a great game, but a
good enough game. That's what happened. The Saints were due
for a bad game, and all of that happened tonight.
(02:03:53):
It's it's really hard to predict the game, an upset
like that. End to get everything in it right, I
mean I got everything in it right. Well. It became
a popular pick, not necessarily among the betters because it
was still a lot of seven and a half point
spread before it it kicked off tonight, but the Cowboys
people feeling them a little bit. Just the defensive intensity.
And and as you said, yeah, I don't know that
(02:04:15):
I heard the word stinker used by other teams, uh
and other media personalities, but certainly you coined that phrase.
And and this is what we got from the Saints,
No yak, A lot of swarming to the ball by
the Dallas secondary and the linebackers doing a fantastic job.
It all came together. So you got that one of two, right,
(02:04:35):
So that's good. It all came together for you there.
Todd Ferman will join us in about fifteen minutes from
locking in on FS one, our buddy friend of the program.
Maybe he could tell you, you know how you can
find a few more of those or maybe one of
your parlay options. You'll get all three parts of that
right as we get towards the big n C Double
A Championship weekend. But for this game, and it played deform.
(02:04:58):
You saw a good effort Ezekiel Elliott both as a
runner and a receiver. Dak Prescott made enough plays right.
People started to become critical down the stretch because you're
only putting up thirteen points. The negative, the negativity is
going to start to spew eventually, especially when there's been
all sorts to talk about contract extension. But take nothing,
(02:05:19):
go Park and nothing away from it other than the
Cowboys win again, and the stranglehold on the NFC East
is now there. Now stranglehold. It's a bad The look
the NFL is bad and this is indisputable. Yeah, but
I was talking about your team, one of your nine.
But I got to be written of Browns and Browns
(02:05:39):
or not? Why not dr Browns Texans this week? You
just love Baker Mayfield so much. No, No, my Texans
because I picked them to go to the super Bowl.
My Cowboys, because I picked them to win the game tonight.
They're not my Cowboys anymore. They won the game, but
they're my Cowboys for tonight and tomorrow. Wow, that's a
slide over right there. Hey, I tell Jerry Jones, I'm
(02:06:04):
not talking about hooking up and hanging out. I'm just
talking about tonight. I mean, you're going to Toby Keith.
Where's the guy on the TV without pictures who predicted
that we were gonna win TV the TV without Wow,
that's deep. That's an inception type moment to keep staring
(02:06:25):
at expecting to see a picture of a guy, but
instead it's just his voice. So um uh, but that
we want? So. I think his name was Jeremy smith Stone,
that guy with the face name radio. Yeah, that was
that was it. The Frostburg that was not as good
as Jerry Jones as this is that was not not
really don't get the cadence right when it comes. He's
(02:06:46):
not from Australia, and so it begins, welcome in. Tell
you what, Roger, we did win this game. It was
pretty good. Now it sound like Tyson Fury starting talking
about the Game of Thrones. It's the first round knockout,
it's how it's gonna go. But no, the Cowboys, they're
(02:07:10):
seven and five. The NFC East is bad. The NFC
in general is bad. The National Football League is bad.
There are seven or eight teams that are good, way
above everybody else, and then you have everybody else who
is the same. The Cowboys are really the same as
the Redskins. Redskins are now in trouble because they don't
have Alex Smith anymore. They're the same as the Eagles.
(02:07:31):
They're the same as the Dolphins and the Bills and
all these other teams that are six and five five
and said, they're all the same. Somebody's got to win
the NFC East, all right, somebody's gotta win it. I'll
tell you somebody's got to win it. But it doesn't
mean the Cowboys are good. Doesn't mean the Cowboy doesn't
mean the Seahawks are the two teams that I said, listen,
they should win five or six games this year. They're
(02:07:52):
not that talented. Well, you know what, I didn't know
the NFL was gonna stink this much, but I said it,
and it's not happening. The Cowboys are much more in contention.
I thought they'd be, so we deal with it. But
it's reality. They're contending because the rest most of the
NFL stinks. Andrew Luck is having a resurgence the last
month because the teams he's played against have a combined
record of nineteen and thirty six. These plays against teams
(02:08:15):
that stink. Look at the Colts record there there. Their
schedule this year might wind up being one of the
easiest in NFL history. And that's what really you have
to look at and examine. Why is the team suddenly
playing so well? That's not that talented. It's the schedule.
When you're playing against teams that stink, that have given
up even in Week eleven, Yeah, you're gonna win the
majority of those games as long as you have not
(02:08:35):
given up. But that's the reality of this situation. The
NFL stinks. The Cowboys at the top of the NFC
East because the NFC eat stinks doesn't mean it's bad,
it's exciting. Everybody is in NFL wants this right. Everybody
is except the Jets. Everybody else is in it. Even
the Browns are still on the edge of a periphery
of the playoff race. But this is what the NFL wanted,
and it's exciting to have everybody in it. When you
(02:08:56):
get into December and lay getting close to Christmas, it's fun.
It's fun to have your team playing for something other
than I'm just gonna watch Sam Donald hopefully come back
and not throw up on himself for the last three year. Friends,
this season, I'm done. That's turned the page to right.
When Major League Baseball added the second wild card, everybody
got all angry, and then you realize, wait a minute.
Some of these teams that would normally pack up shops
(02:09:17):
say hey, you know what, I got a shot at
that and he owe it to the fans and and
let those final couple of weeks play out. Here in
the NFL, they've always wanted to push it back to
eight and eight, and they're getting exactly what they want
here fortuitously for the league. For us in sports talk
and sports media, the Dallas Cowboys are thrusting just a
(02:09:37):
little step forward, Ezekiel Elliott. You add Anamari Cooper, a
defense getting it done, Dak Prescott as one of those
next quarterbacks that needs to get paid or should he
get paid, and all those debates. It's all fun fodder
for sports talk radio. So a win over a a
juggernaut like Drew Brees and the Saints particularly, you know,
because he was starting to get statues built to him
(02:09:59):
here right the deification had begun Aaron Rodgers, that was
a couple of weeks ago. It pushed him aside. No douns,
Drew Brees, and you had to get the launch angle
right right of the way. He contorts himself to throw
the ball downfield there, making sure they get that right,
and just and what happens. They get held to ten
points and all of a sudden, like hey, it's the Cowboys.
Didn't need to be thrilling, didn't need to have a
(02:10:20):
bunch of highlight films. But the fact is you get
another victory, and if they're in the playoffs, that gets
jaws moving. That's good for business. Now, speaking of Drew Brees,
something's gonna happen that we've been waiting to have happened.
Here for almost two Well, Drew Brees, you're gonna hear
him on the shows. He's been on hold since the
(02:10:41):
Super Bowl two and a half years ago. It's been
a long time. But he put the phone down to
meet the media and talk a few minutes ago following
his worst game of the season, after the Samet slow.
So here's Drew Brees after his six point fantasy night.
You need to get all the facts. You need to
look at it, you need to get all the decision
(02:11:01):
makers in that room, and you need to make a decision.
You need to stand with it, because right now it
shows like people are so afraid to have conviction, to
believe in something when they make a decision that they're like,
oh my goodness, social media is against us. Where we're
gonna fire him? Now, you just made a decision to
keep him. Like, if that's your decision, if you believe
that's what's right for the program, then it shouldn't matter
(02:11:22):
what I say. It fired up Jim Tibo night, hang
up the phone. Wow, that's fantastic. It's really angry. It's
like he was in the pulpit. It was, and I
will strike down upon me with great vengeance. I thought
he would a curious anger didn't say, boy, you know,
the Mets trading all these players made make it easier
(02:11:44):
for me to play in in a city field. Next
sounded a lot like Jeff he you know, the Mets
are gonna trade Jay Bruce, which means I could play
right field starting. It's all opening up, just like Moses
part of the Red Sea. All right, let's uh, let's
actually hear from Drew Brees. Not on hold with us,
(02:12:04):
this is at the press conference would happened on the
last interception, Alvin was just now I was trying to
throw it away. Actually, I was just trying to throw
it at his feet and just kept it up a
little bit too high, you know, to to still have
a chance to go down the entire win the game. Um.
So it's it's unfortunate because we had an opportunity really
good pass rush team. You know, I felt like we
(02:12:27):
didn't We didn't really find a rhythm ah for pretty
much the whole game, you know. I mean, I guess
we may have had one one decent drive, but for
the most part, I felt like we were, um just
just didn't really find find a great rhythm with with
what we were doing. Um yeah, I mean, so credit
(02:12:48):
to them not able to find a rhythm that was
dictated on what they would doing, or well a little
bit was execution on our part. I felt like we
had some opportunities to to connect on some past plays early, um,
and we didn't. You know, first drive, I know, there
was at least a few that would have gotten things going.
So you know, you start off the game with two
three and outs, I mean, that's not the way you
want to start. And then you know, on the on
(02:13:09):
the other side, they were able to put together some
some decent drives. So you know, for us as an offense,
you know, we think, hey, man, complimentary football, Let's let's
put together a dry keep our defense off the field.
Let's you know, let's let's let's control the game, control
the clock, control the ball. Just never felt like we
did that as an offense like we've done you know
(02:13:31):
this year. Well, listen, we we get some time now
to uh to get get some guys healthy. You know,
you play play three games in eleven days. You know
that's tough. Um, So well, uh, we'll regroup after this
weekend and and get ready to work because we got
a tough stretch ahead of us. Um, you know, here
(02:13:53):
we are at tending two. Obviously we had we had
won ten in a row, uh, which felt like we
had man, we were, you know, and uh so now
it's now it's time to get that mojo back and
get ready to roll. All right. So there's Drew Brees
as he says, he was trying to throw it away,
the last pick that Jordan Lewis had to salt the
(02:14:13):
game away. You will hear from him. We're gonna talk
to him. Uh, coming up in about fifteen minutes here
on the show, Jordan Lewis will stop buying, break down
his big interception. We'll get into a little bit of
Michigan talk with him, as I know he's a proud
Michigan grad, probably just not that happy with what's been
going on. No, that's why you gotta, you know, strap
on the the face mask and just get back to work,
(02:14:34):
because you don't want to dwell on that game. Right,
you had to worry about Drew Brees a nice better
task to get it, and not that you're gonna sleep
very easy coming into a game like tonight. But yeah,
we got him coming up. Todd Ferman is going to
join us here in a couple of minutes. But for
Drew Brees, you saw how he definitely uh didn't throw
Alvin Cameron under the bus for turning out instead of
(02:14:56):
in on that route, because if you look at the
replay from one of the angles you got if he
hits Kamara in stride cutting back into the middle of
the field, there's a little bit of running room there. Instead,
you've got a game clinching I n T eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox Twitter at how about a Fresca?
Jason Smith Mike Harmon Live from the Geiko Studios. Coming
(02:15:20):
up next. What did tonight's game have to do with
the odds in Vegas? Oh my goodness, so many big
stories to get to, both in the NFL and beyond.
We check in with one of our big Vegas insiders.
Coming up next right here on Fox Fox Sports Radio
Jason Swift Show with my best friend Mike Harmons live
(02:15:43):
from the Geiko Studios. We really are in the obscure
Christmas song. I got that it's not even December yet.
I mean, really, it's not good. Get people right into
the middle of it. Forget him. What are you gonna do?
(02:16:04):
All the elvis? I mean, we'll get funny of that,
Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, all of those great classics will
certainly be here. Boom lay, we'll get him in. Why
not go a little bit outside the box? I mean,
would you expect anything less from tighter? You don't go outside?
Were too outside the box? Like right away, Well, he's
(02:16:24):
gonna layer this back in with laying off the weed,
which is good advice during the holiday season. It's like this,
The net Dugs for college basketball should have come out
after we saw a bunch of games instead of coming
out right now. It's like that we need to we
need to hear the crazy Christmas songs after we hear
you know, all the popular ones. Can't do it? No
(02:16:46):
jump straight in joining us now on the hot line.
You can follow on Twitter at Todd Ferman, our man
in Vegas and Big Time FS one actor on locking
in on FS one. It's Todd Ferman. Todd, what's happening?
I have a ax to grind with you boys thirteen
ten much more compelling football than video game garbage like
(02:17:08):
we saw shootout. That's what I said. Stopped that. You
you lost money tonight right because you had the Cowboys
on the money line documented unlock it in that fine
program on Fox Sports one. My friends, Hey, I told
you the Cowboys are gonna win two days ago. You
stole my pick. You know, every now and again I
choose not to listen. I figured that you would probably
called in sick today for work, or maybe taking an
(02:17:29):
hour off to go to the bar and celebrate the
potential Mets acquisition of Robinson Canoe, who's one step away
from being in the retirement home. Hey, hey, wait a minute, now,
Robinson takes a baseball bat, Edwin Daz, that's got to
improve the Mets chances of winning the World Series. Well,
I mean, it couldn't decrease the Mets chances of winning
the World Series. When you're seven thousand and one, sure
(02:17:50):
will take you. But when you look at the Mets,
I mean, this deal actually helps them out. I'm just
not sure what you get from Canoe at this point
in his career and how much he has left on
the runway. Edwin Diaz about as an electric reliever as
you're gonna find. I'm just of the mindset that you
can go into your farm system and you can get
a good closer. Unless they're talking the likes of Craig
(02:18:12):
Kimberrell or Marianna Rivera or somebody that cut from that cloth.
They got Happy forty nine birthday to Mariano Rivera. While
we sit here, I don't, I don't. I don't get
this metis straight. I'm waiting to see his eyes are
glazing over that we're and we're gonna pay all the
money for Robinson Cano's contract. It's gonna be Oh my god,
I really have to have a Best's not even December yet,
and I gotta be punting on the well, you know,
(02:18:34):
the only good the only good thing about it maybe
the Marriners, who are in complete breakdown and rebuild mode.
They're happy to take like j Bruce. So it's J
Bruce for Robinson Canoe and Edwin Diaz and then it's
win win all the way around. Because the Metal just
find ways to print cash somewhere in the finest city
of Gotham. Well, that's just they'll call up Tim Tebow
and they'll make money. They actually used to do that
printing cash. I got him in trouble. I kind of
(02:18:55):
get that level, no question about it. Hey, Saturday, Well,
starting tomorrow on Todd actually we start getting into championship
weekend Washington Utah. Washington a six point favorite, perhaps not
the team we anticipated a couple of weeks ago. Mike
Leach still salty about that snowfest of last week, but
(02:19:16):
the Washington preseason projected team to get here. Uh given
nearly a touchdown against Utah. Yeah, Mike Leach, if he's
still angry and bitter about that, clearly his team should
go through off season tackling because that did demand against
Miles Gaskin, for it feels like about the seventeenth year
in a row Washington State on the wrong side of
the Apple Cup. When you look at this game, guys,
(02:19:37):
there's no doubt that the numbers a little bit inflated.
Washington opened up as a four point favorite, Prices ticked
out to five and a half. My true number in
this game makes the Huskies about a field goal favorite.
But when I dig deeper into this contest, I don't
think losing Tyler Hunley is that big a loss for
the uts far in regards the quarterback position, But they
don't have a replace around the roster for Zack Moss,
(02:19:58):
and that's where I think you need to be a
little bit more balanced. Against his Huskies defense. It's not
elite like we've seen in the past, but ultimately I
think Washington has a few more playmakers that you can
trust on their roster than Utah. But the number doesn't
give you a whole lot of wigger room. I'll make
a slight case for going under forty five. I think
we could see points in a premium at Levi Stadium,
all right. When it comes to tonight's game, we watched
(02:20:18):
the Cowboys pulled the big upset, and you talked about
winning money. I'm sure you're sipping champagne shirtless right now,
so I don't want to give you a creepy visual
over there what you choose to think about on your
own time. Please don't divulge on to the massive airways.
For all those fine folks across this country tuning in
right now, the Super Bowl odds on the Saints and
Cowboys change at all after tonight. The Cowboys odds are
(02:20:40):
gonna come down because they finally showed tonight that not
only should they be considered favorites in the division which
they were going into this game, despite being nearly a
touchdown underdog, that they could beat one of the league's
elite teams. And while the first half offensively the Cowboys
look dynamic, putting third team points on the board, they
didn't find a way to give this away in the
second half like we've grown accustomed to in the past.
(02:21:01):
So the Saints, their odds aren't going to change. I mean,
they've been flirting with house money for so long, having
one ten straight covering nine before tonight. There's still three
to one at bet online. That a g But when
you look at the Cowboys number, you could have found
them around twenty or twenty two to one. That price
has come down on the heels of the victory. Seeing
them at eighteen to one still a tough road to
(02:21:22):
go down. I think we're talking about the Saints and
Rams ultimately in the NFC Championship. Fox Boards Radio, The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen Company from the Geico
Studios on the hotline with us former odds maker At Caesar,
co founder of the Bet the Board podcast. You find
that at Bet the Board Pod an analyst for locking
in on FS one. It says actor on my sheet,
(02:21:42):
they do some skits now and again, I want to
see you. That's nice, sweet Hold on a second. If
I'm an actor, does that make me available to like
win a Sports Emmy or something. Uh, you know one
of those awards out there that I never thought possible
as like two months ago. Yeah, start doing that. Do
those one arm push ups like Sal was doing the
award for best I'm not gonna lie. I was betting
(02:22:03):
under on how many one armed push ups Sal could do. No,
that's exactly and I think that would have been the
bed of the day as we were watching that one.
It's Todd fermant at Todd Ferman on Twitter is where
you find him. All Right, let's get let's get down
to it as we get to win in time in
on Saturday and Texas, Oklahoma going at it again over
under sitting at seventy eight last I saw it? Uh?
(02:22:26):
Can we bet on who has the ball last highest
over under? These two proud programs have ever seen in
their long standing, illustrious history. When you look at the
way things have gone, Texas has covered the last six meetings,
all when the Long Learns have been an underdog. But
at those meetings, of course, taking place at the Cotton
Ball on a little bit of a slower track than
what we're gonna see in Jerry's world much different dynamic
(02:22:48):
this coming Saturday. Oklahoma, most likely with the wayne'll get
into the college football playoffs. And when you look at Texas,
they've been slowed down offensively because of Sam Ellinger's shoulder.
From the folks that I talked to, they say sixties sixty,
but watching their performances wins against Iowa State in Kansas
suggests something very different because they were reluctant to run him.
(02:23:08):
He didn't really stretch the field like we've seen in
the middle of the season. And for a guy that
hadn't thrown interception since their season opener to throw two
against that vaunted Jayhawks defense leaves me concerned that if
Texas has to turn this thing into a track me,
they're gonna be up against it. I like Oklahoma laying
the points in this spot, and I actually would make
a case, as hard as it is to do, for
going under the total. All right, So let me ask
(02:23:30):
you this about a game we're not going to see
that many people want to know how it would play
out at you like that, if Alabama were to play
Central Florida in the playoff, Let's just say everybody loses
and Michigan finds a way to get three lasses despite
the fact I'm not playing this week, Let's just say
somehow Central Florida is up to number four, Alabama beats Georgia,
and Alabama plays Central Florida in a playoff game. What
(02:23:53):
would Alabama be favored by With Mackenzie Milton out there
for UCF, you're looking at Alabama north of a were
touchdown favored in that particular spot. I actually am a
little bit higher on Bbama even than some of the
other folks, and probably don't give enough credit to Darial
mac Jr. Will have to fill in. I would make
Alabama in that game a thirty one and a half
point favorite over UCF. WoT one and a half. It's
(02:24:20):
it's a key number when you talk about, you know,
keeping that back door slam shut. Should you CEF want
to try and must up offense that kind of game though,
I mean, and while you CFS winning streak is definitely impressive,
they would clearly be out class. And while so many
Nights fans go, well, look we beat Auburn in the
Peach Bowl, that's not the same steaks And I think
Alabama in a playoff setting would be much more engaged.
(02:24:41):
I think you CF would be hard pressed keep Alabama
from scoring sixty. Alright, if Milton was healthy, what would this?
What would the spread? Bab? I'm making about a touchdown adjustment,
and that's with recent upgrades. So I would have u
c F about a twenty four and a half twenty
five point underdog in that particular spot. But I could
see Oddsmaker's potential using a very similar scenario. What we're
going to get in the SEC Championship where Clemson opened
(02:25:04):
it twenty four and a half point favorite. Number was
beat up. But you're still talking about north The three
scores for Central Florida. They just don't have the athletes defensively,
and I'm not really sure they could hold up in
the trenches either against the pisto off Alabama team. All Right,
last one for me, Todd, I gotta go to the
Big Ten title game. Obviously, my beloved Northwestern Wildcats two
touchdown dogs to Ohio State of the Buck eyes awakened
(02:25:26):
or well we see more bent over Urban Meyer harm
It's a game on our network. I want to know
if you're gonna be out there for the coin toss
in Indianapolis. For this, I should have been flown out,
but no, I alas you know, maybe if you're lucky,
you're nice to Frostburg, he'll put you on the charter
jet out to Pittsburgh and you can drive from Pittsburgh
all the way to Indianapolis. It's not too bad as
long as it's not multiple feet of snow on the ground.
(02:25:48):
They just aero dropped me Todd just on the way. Well,
I mean that would have worked too, but I'm not
sure where you'll end up in the Great Lakes this
time of year, not very forgiving from a temperature capacity,
unless you're looking for a polar plunt um. When I
break this game down, my concern with Northwestern is the athletes.
I mean, the Big Ten West a far cry from
the Big Ten East. But you don't want to diminish
(02:26:08):
anything that the Wildcats have accomplished this season. They won
five conference games outright as an underdog, and that includes
rhad victories as double digit dogs at Michigan State and
at Iowa, the difference being those two teams a little
bit more offensively challenged than Ohio State, but coach Fitzgerald
nine and three against the spread the last time the
wild last twelve times the Wildcats have been underdogs. Is
(02:26:29):
this number continues to drift out. I think Northwestern can
keep the game close, at least for a half. I'm
not sure they'll be able to do it for a
full game. But one thing that will work in Northwestern's favor.
If Alabama sumps Georgia and Oklahoma sumps Texas, there's a
good chance you get a Buckeys team that goes you
know what, we can't get into the playoff. We don't
really care about beating Northwestern winning the conference championship. You

be in that deal. They're opening up right field for him,
it's gonna happen. Hey, you need divine intervention to keep

Thanks so much, buddy. See you about it Live from

the Getic studios. Coming up a minute, you'll hear from
Jordan Lewis, who will stop by the big interception that
clinched the game for the Dallas Cowboys over the Saints tonight.
But first let's talk to Deb Carson. Find out what's trending.
Do you say, Well, you just mentioned Jordan Lewis. He
helped the Cowboys hold on to stifle the Saints thirdteen
to ten. Dallas held the Saints to a season low
ten points. Drew Brees through his third interception of the
(02:27:56):
season two at Jordan Lewis, so that ten game win
streak is over for New Orleans. Cowboys have won four
in a row. They are seven and five, five and
one at home. New Orleans falls to ten and two
with that first road loss of the season NBA. All
of the games have now gone final clippers of one.
Four in a row. They beat the King's one thirty
three one twenty one to Bias Harris twenty eight for
(02:28:16):
l A Lebron James with thirty eight for the Lakers.
They beat the Pacers one oh four nineties six and
in overtime in Toronto, Raptors won their seventh in the row.
They beat the Warriors one thirty one one eight again
in Oti. Kawai Leonard thirty seven points in the win,
Kevin Durant fifty one in the loss for the Warriors.

clock and had a huge upset go their way thirteen
ten tonight. Jordan, congratulations on the big win. Thank you.
I really appreciate it, alright, So tell me about the play.
You're the big hero. You held on to that football. Yeah,
just going out there on on instincts. Man, just melt
my eyes to the quarterback and you know, it was
amazing pressure by the d line. I really appreciate those
(02:29:45):
guys and that that definitely did it. Man, So it
still is amazing closed game like that. Now, I know
you made the play. But when you're walking off, are
you saying, all right, I had my hands under it, right?
Are you looking up at the big scoreboard and look
and saying I had my hands under it, right, I
have my hands under it? Yeah? Man, I knew there
was no question that I had my hands under Uh.
I fell, my elbows scraped the ground, So I pretty
(02:30:05):
I was pretty sure that I got damn Hey, you
want to hear how it sounded on TV. Yeah, go ahead,
play it, braise back under press the pass, scept dirt loss.
That's two jort loss, get uspting two praise. It's excited
and you kept that ball too, right of course may
(02:30:27):
anytime breeze and you definitely gotta keep You're gonna get
take him to it to get him to sign it. No,
I don't know, that's not that's too much, man. I'm
just appreciative that I got it. Hey, just call us
back after you could use that for your ring tone.
Fantastic over the course of the night though, Jordan's I
mean we watched and Jason and I we you know,
(02:30:49):
as everybody did break it down this game coming in
Brash talked from the defensive line that backed it up,
and you guys swarming to the ball. I mean, how
do you keep that intensity for sixty minutes on this team? Uh,
just just you know, our fundamentals on defense. That's that's
our our fundamental on defense, just going to the ball,
lating to the ball, and you know, effort when whenever
you do that with you know, amazing talent around us,
(02:31:11):
great things happening. What was your game plan going and
knowing here's this offense, how great they've been. How are
we going to slow them down? Uh? Just do what
we do. Honestly, we I mean, we have an amazing
coach of staff that you know that understands football man,
and we just we just came out there and did
what we normally do, and we came out there and
executed at a very high level. Jordan Lewis joining us
(02:31:31):
after the big Cowboys win over the Saints tonight thirteen
ten year final. Jordan's a couple of weeks ago. I mean,
let's call it what it is. Everybody left the Cowboys
for dead? What changing? Was there a moment in that
locker room. Uh, we just understood that. Like you said,
it was just us in our locker room. So whatever
anybody said, positive or negative, that we always had to
(02:31:52):
have each other's back and we have to fight for
each other. And uh, the past four weeks, that's exactly
what we've been doing. And we're just excited to continue
to execute on this this level we've been doing. Now,
tell me the truth and I watched me truth on this.
Does winning tonight and having that interception? Does that get
you passed? Ohio States victory over Michigan last that the
(02:32:12):
Brown I think I said that, no Brown man. Yeah,
that's still things. Man. I'm kind of upset we don't
get a chance to go to the final four. But
you know, hopefully we finished very strong in this Bowl
game and you know, see what happens next year. Hey, Jordan,
they're not out categorically, man, they put him into that
stop gap at number seven. You never know, crazy things
happening a few teams to lose. We need, we need,
(02:32:33):
we definitely do, especially in these conference. Uh, we might
need Northwestern pull upstate. So there you go my Northwestern. Yeah,
Mike went to Northwestern, so and my wife went to
Michigan too, So you know we have all this in
common exactly. Yes, hopefully coach Pat just one, you know,
the coach of the year and the big thing, so
hopefully got some of this place. Jordan lewis big. I
(02:32:54):
n t the Cowboys with the thirteen ten victories, saving
the Cowboys. Congratulations on the big win. And have you
as uh Jerry Jones said anything to you after the
game yet, has he come up and said anything, Uh No,
not yet. You know, Jerry loves you know, big moment,
so you know, I'm probably you know what, he might
sign the football for. You signed some big checks too.
(02:33:19):
All right, there you go. We'll put it in the
case Roy Jordan Lewis, big game, Thanks for stopping by.
Keep on keeping on, no problem, Thank you. Not split
that in. See players know it now, that's a cool thing. No,
if he had he heard it, he would have said
thank you, sir. He said thank you guys. Yeah, so
I don't think he heard it. Well, he appreciate it.
(02:33:41):
How does he say goodbye at the right time If
he didn't hear it, because he's talking to you, guys,
you're the one who said it. He would have said
thank you. I don't. I don't. I don't think that
holds water. Yeah, I don't think he heard it. I
don't know. Oh, he just guessed, see you guys. I don't.
I don't think so. I think keep on keeping on
the thing though. I think all the players talk to
each other and they know a you go on the
(02:34:02):
Jason Smith Show with my car and dude, the guy's
gonna tell you keep on keeping on at the end. Okay, great.
I think that's starting to become a thing throughout the league. Hey,
when you go on that show. Wait for it. He's
got one last thing to tell you on the way
out the door. How cool was it that? He said?
Man I intercepted Drew Brees like he he hears the
call for the first time. Unlike that excitement, right that
(02:34:24):
still making a play and and on that stage. Right,
you're on Thursday night football. You're getting your your your
big national you obviously last week against the Redskins, but
now you have another big spot and you make this
play against Drew Brees. Hell, you gotta run to the star,
become an instant. I think Jerry Jones would sign his ball.
(02:34:49):
That was a good play by the Lewis kid. Here
give me, I'll sign that for you. Bike. It worth
more money. Here, here you go. Thanks about that. I
can't wait to see how it's painted up. I mean
he's got to post that right. Oh of course the
game got it right here? Yeah? Or maybe Jerry Jones
walk over and go, hey, Jordan, that was pretty good.
I got a bonus for you here. I got some
Jerry dollars for you to spend at the Cowboys store. Uh,
(02:35:12):
you want to buy a hat or some some gear
Cowboys gear. No alcohol, but just you know, here because
you're a player. Here you go. Can you tell me
which one is dak I want to go talk to him.
I've seen him. I really thought you were gonna say, hey,
he walked up and said, that's my football. This is
the biggest win I've had in years. I'm gonna put
that in my my own case. So I'll get you
(02:35:35):
a replica ball, get you Duke Jr. But uh, you know,
or maybe I'll get Tony Romo to interview you and
just you know, ask him how his arms doing. See
you know, may need him asked me he wants to

the Indiana Hickory Pacers tonight one oh four and ninety
six to come over and say, King Coong, hey got
nothing on me? You think they just started screaming lines
(02:37:27):
at him. Come on, do this one. Come on, cong
ain't got on me? Come on, all right, give me
a little bit of wait when you were booed from
remember the Titans. Give me some of that. I run
three plays, right? How do you win a championship and
you're on like three offensive plays? I mean, really run
those effective and the excellence of execution. I was it
six plays right, Bigger and faster and stronger than you're
(02:37:51):
a guy. I want him as that coked up airline high.
Give me a couple of those out of flight. Well,
you know they should have Jay Arrows show up. You
haven't seen Jay Pharaoh's Denzel. Yeah, when he does. Denzel
Washington as a as a driver's that instructor. You got
your side marriage, you got your front mirror. It's it's
a bit you're burying the lead though. Yes, the Clip
(02:38:15):
Clippers still in first place in the Western Conference. They
win tonight again, beating Sacramento one thirty three, one one.
And I'm gonna keep saying it because we talked about
it three weeks ago and it's still happening. Now. The Lakers,
the Lakers did win Lakers and then duran had one play.
(02:38:37):
Luke Walton called, yeah, yeah, Durant had fifty one and
eleven in a loss. But yeah, it's Clippers. The Lakers
are expected to win. The Clippers have a horrendous roster.
Lakers are the story though, and there, but the Clippers
are in first place in the Western Conference by a
full game now over Denver and the Warriors. The show
we're doing in the now, it's unbelieved. We live in
(02:38:59):
the moment, I have no I have no time for
other stuff. Clippers, Clippers exactly, Lebron thirty eight seven, who's
with eleven? Ingram with fourteen? Hard at talking off the
bench tonight? Did Nick van Axel have tonight? This is
he was in Cancun. He did. He didn't score any points.
(02:39:21):
It's insane this start that the Clippers are having. It's
a it's a lottery team and their fifteen and six.
There you got. You got eighteen good minutes out of
gork top Ah Williams only needed to score ten points.
That's how well they played tonight. Let's have this debate
for a couple of minuts. We saw tonight Cowboys beat
the Saints thirteen ten, really entertaining fund game my Cowboys,
(02:39:43):
because Cowboys. A couple of weeks ago we saw Rams
fifty four, Chiefs fifty one, your typical what's more exciting
the big offensive pinball numbers that go up or the
defensive struggle where we watched a really good defense. Some
teams slow down the best offense in the National Football League.
And for me, the answer simple, it's offense because when
(02:40:08):
you give me plays that are going to give more
excitement and more celebration. A touchdown pass is always going
to be more exciting than an incomplete pass on third down.
A big forty yards scamper for first and goal is
going to be more exciting than a running back getting
stuffed on third and two for a yard. There's more highlights,
there's more fun. There's more electricity in offensive minded games
(02:40:30):
than there is in defensive ones. See for me, it
came down to this type of game, especially when you've
got a name like Drew Brees. Is the one uh
currently on the the downside of the scoring column of
can you make that one play? Can all this fifty
six plus minutes of brilliance be torn asunder by one
(02:40:50):
perfectly run route across the middle or one missed tackle?
All that each play becomes that much more UH of
an event when you've got these low scoring Not that
I don't I like the shootouts to look. I celebrate
all two fifty six that's my answer. You know that,
But give me at ten game. Not for fantasy purposes. Clearly,
(02:41:10):
although these Saints, the Saints defense outscored Breeze by a
total of two to one along the way, But I'm
looking at this game and every possession was just so
interesting in terms of the chess match of all right,
even when the Cowboys got the ball back lead, right,
are they gonna go for it? Are they gonna just
(02:41:32):
kind of ground, ground and pound and then say hey, okay,
we'll kick the field goal and say, okay, Drew Brees,
now you beat us. No, they stayed aggressive, which I
thought was fantastic. Fantastic. They get Lattimore turned around, he's
all up in Amari Cooper's girl, and then they're able
to just kneel on it. I don't understand why Sean
Payton took a time out before the two minute warning.
That doesn't make sense to me. But that's or one
(02:41:53):
of his other challenges earlier. But you know what, you
live and die through it. But the fact of the
matter is down to the to wire. Each of these
plays took on that much more important. All right. At
second and eight, Can they bring the heat again? Can
they get after him? And I kind of dig that
more than Oh there's a guy sprinting free again. He
caught the ball four yards beyond the line of scrimmage
(02:42:14):
and there's no defender there and away he goes, No,
give me a tackle, Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith
