visit Geico dot com. Yes right now, Pack twelve Championship Game.
How far is the Pack twelve? Fall and play in
their game on Friday night the last few years, Washington
leads Utah by a field goal quarter. The thing is,
(01:11):
there's only been a field goal so far. Now where's
everybody from last night? You know? I really like that
defensive struggle between the Cowboys and the Saints was really
so interesting. You're not saying that now, but they're not
saying that. I'm not saying that. Nobody's watching. That's why. No,
the bigger thing out of here. As we begin the
show for the Geico Studios, more people did watch. The
(01:34):
few more people watch. People were fired up about that game.
This one now maybe not so much. Here. They're the
officiating so out of place and terrible. There was a
ball that clearly drifted through the Utah receiver's arms, lands
on the ground. He's able to roll over and corral it,
(01:55):
and somehow it had to be reviewed. There's an official review.
The balls laying on the ground for at least two seconds,
yet they're not in position enough to be able to
rule it an incomplete complete you know, on the on
the plate on every referee can be in the position
you're supposed to be, and it's do some cardio. Look,
maybe today was leg day. Maybe you know fatigue. You
(02:16):
know what no one says, don't skip cardio day. What
if all you do is leg day? You know you
skid that. Don't skip leg day. Reminder you need to
don't skip cardio day. Should do mostly cardiot. You gotta
keep card What if he's just doing LEG day. I
mean they're doing a whole review of this. It's clearly
an incomplete pass. You always say don't skip leg day.
You can't say don't skip Cardio day. Cardios assume you're
(02:36):
biased against Cardio. Oh, yes, you are, you would say
if although most she wouldn't look at a video of me,
say doing a little more Cardio. Wait, you ordered pizza? Yeah,
what time is our pizza coming? It's currently in let's see,
it's in stage three, it's in the bake stage three.
What does what does that mean? Where it's stage five
(02:56):
three order prep, bake, quality check, and then out for delivery.
That means the pizza get into the box cheeze, yes, sauce, Yes,
all right, send it out right cardboard box. Well good,
I'm glad you keep hard more pizza. Welcome inside. We're
(03:17):
live from the Geico Studios, where fifteen minutes can save
you fifteen percent of more in car insurance. For more information,
visit Geiko dot com. Yes, the Pack twelveth championship game
right now, Washington leads Utah three nothing early in the
third quarter. Yes, although Utah is on the outskirts of
field goal range. Well, I said the outskirts of field range.
(03:40):
They got the baut the thirty five yard line, that's
the outskirts of field goal range, the big neighborhood, and
they got five more yards. You're kicking a field goal,
you're on the outskirts of field goal range there. So
I hope you had the under Washington three. Nothing over you, tah. Meanwhile,
the big story of the day, and we're gonna have
TMZ Sports executive producer Evan Rosenbloom joining us in twenty
(04:04):
five minutes. A shocker. When I saw this story first
break today, I said, he's done. It's maybe it's gonna
be an hour, maybe it's gonna be two hours, maybe
three hours, but he's done. And Kareem Hunt, chief star
running back, has been released following the video that surfaced
earlier today that showed him shoving a woman in February.
(04:27):
The team announced the move on Friday night, just after
the NFL put him on the Commissioner's exent List, which
means he's not eligible to play. In a statement, Kareem
Hunt apologized for his actions, saying, I deeply regret what
I did. I hope to move on from this. Earlier today,
TMZ put out this video. Kareem Hunt is seen shoving
(04:47):
and kicking a woman at a Cleveland hotel where Hunt
had an apartment. This incident had been reported. If you
remember this and this to come out earlier this year,
there was a story that Kareem Hunt had gotten into
a scuffle, some kind of altercation. A woman was involved,
but no charges were pressed and at the time Kareem
Hunt put out a statement about this, there was and
and he was moved on and was able to continue
(05:09):
to play. Uh this season. Let's hear Kareem Hunt what
he said? Alex Titcher. Let's get Kareem Hunt from what
he said earlier this year. A t we got Kareem
Hunt from earlier this year. Learned from it? In this
some focus on football? How did you learn from it?
Like lessons were there and just you know, me in
the right place at the right time. I'm just gonna
(05:30):
keep thinking about football and go out there, you know,
and do my job. Just move forward and you know,
focus on football. Learn from him. So this video shows
Hunt and the woman who yelled at each other in
a hallway. This is where his apartment is in this
hotel and they get separated by a couple of people.
A couple of different times, Hunt pushes the woman and
(05:54):
then the woman swings at him and hits him in
the face. Two men escort Hunt down a hallway before
he comes running out, running into one of his friends,
who then clean knocks the woman over. Hunt also kicks
the woman in the leg. And this is what the
video that we have seen. This was reported earlier this year,
and this is the first time the video was made public.
Police were called to the scene, but no arrests were
(06:16):
made or charges filed. This was body cam footage that
were as obtained by TMZ. Woman and witnesses gave different
accounts of what escalated the incident. She told police she
wasn't gonna have sex as one of the men in
his entourage, and then one of the men said she
called them the N word after being asked to leave
Hunt's hotel room. So this was all the back and
forth going on surrounding this story. So police get a
(06:39):
couple of different stories on it. But here's the video,
and this is the video, and it is here. And
I don't care who you are, I don't care what
you were saying, we didn't see the the NFL. I
can't believe it's this hard to do the right thing.
And the NFL. You just had Ray Rice, which was
just three years ago, the video of him punching his
(06:59):
white from the face in an elevator and they went
light on him. And then the video gets out and it's, oh, well, Ray,
now you're done. Only because the video gets out, so
you figure the NFL learns their lessons. Okay, video of
a guy. I understand police knew and knew the evidence
and knew this video was there. According to reports, the
(07:22):
hotel is not allowed to release the video to the NFL,
but only the law enforcement. So if the NFL is
really doing their due diligence, they're calling the police and saying,
what is this video show? Can you tell us what's
on it? And the police tell them what's on it?
And then they make a decision because the NFL, what
(07:43):
what does you? Looked like? They did now they said,
let's sweep this under the rug. Let's make sure nothing's
happened and no one's seen anything, so we can just
move on because it's kind of a he said, she said,
And so Kareem hunts allowed to play. You heard him
talking there. It's gotta move on. Wrong place, wrong time. No, dude,
you got into it. You hit a woman and then
you charged at her again and then you kicked her.
(08:04):
And now he's released. And it's good that they released him.
But how it waits till now, I really don't get.
It's like the NFL still thinks, has that the thinking
of a kid, where they're like, well, I can lie
and get around this as long as there's you know,
they can't prove anything on me. But this video was there.
The NFL at least would have known it existed. And
(08:26):
the chiefs say in retrospect, well, Kareem Hunt lied to
us about what happened in the video, about what really
and we took him at his word, and it's done.
When you're investigating something, the only person you talked to
is the person that's being accused of it. You don't
talk to anybody else, like the Washington Redskins. No, we
don't want to talk to anybody involved. What we want
(08:47):
to talk to his teammates from five years and we're
gonna talk to his friends. And he's a former first
round pick that we can get on the chief Kareem Hunt,
your NFL leading rusher. So if we ask a little
bit and we get his word, that's good enough. But
for the NFL, you've had a pretty good year, right,
you just had ridiculous ratings for your Cowboys Saints game
(09:09):
on Thursday Night football. You've had a resurgence in all
your time slots, and and everybody's making money. Hand over
this a lot of goodwill because scoring is up. Roger
Goodell hasn't been seen in forever, right, that was the
first thing I tweeted. I was like, Wow, he's been
in hiding. He can't hide from this. And then slowly
(09:29):
but surely, it starts to unravel. There were some reports
earlier today that people were afraid that this existed or
may have known this existed. So now the police issue
their statement and they say their public information officer confirmed
NFL dot Com that the police didn't didn't release the video.
So now it's the all right, who did and who knew?
(09:52):
What went right? That's and and the cover up always
worse than the crime, as we've learned time and time again.
And as soon as videotapes attached and this started to
spread this morning, I texted you a media was like, well,
here's your show and here's the NFL in crisis mode
once again. I don't understand and that this is really
(10:13):
what you know? And you know, I remember President Obama
saying this at a at a rally he he was
at during UH I think it was during October, and
he said, you know, listen, it's not hard to do
the right thing. Talking about all of us trying to
get together and do the right thing, you know, when
when it comes to us coming together as people and
everything else go Look, he's campaigning, obviously, he's trying to listen,
let's all come together, which we should. I mean, it's
(10:34):
not gonna happen, but we should. And I I asked
this here, how is it so hard for the NFL
to do the right thing when this comes up? Here's
Kareem Hunt. What's going on? It's a domestic violence story. Okay,
let's make sure we investigate the hell out of this,
and if something happened, we need to make sure we
deal with it the right way. And if nothing happened,
(10:54):
then Kareem Hunt gets to move on and and have
his NFL career. But the fact that they could have
seen the tape and didn't. And you know, they talked
to Kareem Hunt and just got oh say. He said,
it's like, okay, we're only gonna We're only gonna do
this investigation so far, just to give us enough deniability
where we could say, you know, we did look into it.
(11:14):
But because I understand if the NFL they might feel
if we waged hip deep into every time this happens,
this league is gonna look terrible because stuff like this
happens much more regularly than you would want. But you
have to do the right thing. I'm sorry that it
sucks for your business. I'm sorry, but you have to
do that. Everything is knowable now. There's no way you
(11:37):
can't sweep anything under the rug forever anymore. You can't
do it. There's video, there's this is a hotel. They
knew the video existed. The video was there, whether they
could release it or not. They knew it was there,
police knew it was there. The NFL could have done
a very intensive investigation that could have taken all of
five minutes. You know why, because this video came out
today at noon and five hours later he was released.
(11:58):
He's out of the NFL, So tell him how long
it would have taken to see that. You know, I'm
not saying you have to go and and here come
five detectives and we're in and we're doing a five
month that. You know, you don't need Robert Muller to
come in and do all this stuff, but you need
you need at least somebody to say, okay, is their
video what happened here? Let's do more than just the cursory.
We talked to Kareem Hunt. There were no charges filed
(12:18):
because look at the same no charges were filed for
Ray Rice. No, but that's what But that's part of
the process here, right, is in terms of obtaining that tape,
if no charges are filed, are they legally you know,
entitled to be able to see the contents there up?
And I don't know that that's the case. I'm not
gonna try to pretend to be astute in legal ease
in this particular case. Right, So, since there were no
(12:40):
charges and the police, even with their their copy of
the tape that they would have procured from the hotel,
are they you know, can they with no charges being filed,
release it? Right? They can give it to them on
the slide I guess is once the argument could just
say listen, this is what's on it, trying to tell
(13:02):
you what's on Well, but that's the thing though, and
he and he pushes another guy into her and she
was flying and then he kicks her. But but is
there but is there a legal problem in terms of
the police turning that over? Right? Even if though that's
but they don't just this is what we've seen. What's
the police investigation? What did you see? I mean, that's
stuff that you've got the police investigation part of it. Hey,
(13:22):
this is what's on the tape, this is what this
is what they could have found a way to find
out what's on the tape. And again that's the question
what goes into the transcripts, what goes into the files
versus what's housed? And because no files were no no
charges were filed, was it considered just a dead case
by the police and therefore no further information would get
(13:44):
out like that? That's what I trying to understand the
legal process, because the obvious, the obvious answer for the
NFL is you fight for every bit of evidence you can,
especially you know, in a in a case like this,
when you've got these reports going all the way back,
and what's your league has gone through from a public
relations standpoint, you know, morally right, obviously, you know we
(14:08):
all agree that we all agree to that, you know,
for for the morality of it. Yes, you go to
it and you try to find out everything you can.
From the straight business perspective, is when they're always counting
millions upon millions of dollars and celebrating every triumph on
the business side, how do they not recognize how big
a pitfall this is and how big a problem this
(14:29):
is when your league's finally getting back onto steady ground.
I mean that that's what That's what baffles me is
that I always say this, but the NFL baffles me. Great,
Rice thing was just a couple of years ago. Okay,
here's what is Is there a video? What happened? And
I I really I don't understand how hard it is
for the NFL to say, okay, let's really let's really
(14:50):
take a bigger look into this. Yeah, the NFL NFL
report says that they made several attempts to obtain it,
and that's it. It's a very blanket online statement in
that regard, So oh well, can't say oh well, and
then the you get into preseason season starts and I
guess you hope that that stays buried, right, I mean
(15:10):
we all watch pet cemetery, you know what happens and
then But the thing is is that you know there's
a video, so you know the video is gonna get
something there ends on TMZ. So you can't tell me
the NFL couldn't find it if here it is on TMZ.
Can't tell me that, oh that we can't get it.
We can't get it. T MZ found a way to
get it. They got it right here, put it out.
That's a question, right, who's the guy that or a
(15:32):
woman that opens the email for for TMZ that gets
And we were talking about it a little bit before
the show, right who who gets the the files? And
here's what we sent that might be enticing for you
twitter at. How about a Fresca Mike gets swollen done?
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carbon Live from the
Geico Studios coming up next. So now the Kareem hunt
has been waived by the Chiefs. He is an ex
(15:54):
member of the Kansas City Chiefs. Is his career over?
Like Ray Rice? The answer might surprise you a little
bit that's next. Fox Sports Radio. Today's Friday, Fox Sports Radio.
You are right, Bill Belichick. Once a week, once every
seven days. We're look, you know, just when we're trying
(16:15):
to figure out things are fun. You know, since we
do this tonight, Friday should be at least a couple
of times tight shirt, we have to hear the Bill
Belichick Christmas song. So we'll make it a Friday tradition
now for Christmas. Yeah, like like at least once an hour.
All right, I'm cool with that. A little bit of
have yourself from Mary Little Christmas. I'm with that. And
then if you can weave in stay off the weeks,
(16:38):
stay all week. Duh. Yeah, we've that in there, a
little bit. That's pretty good New iTunes. That's the way
to get a Friday started. Got Evan Rosenbloom, TMZ Sports
executive producers stopping buying about five minutes. T MZ releasing
(16:59):
the video today of Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt, who
assaulted a woman outside his apartment, which is in a hotel,
earlier this year. The videos released today. This is a
story that was first broken earlier this year and then
kind of went away because no charges were filed. After
this video came out today very violent video, Hunt was
put on the exempt list by the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell,
(17:22):
and now was since released by the Kansas City chiefs. Well,
we told you a few minutes ago about how this
was another sham ofthan investigation because they could have found
out what was on the tape even though the hotel
couldn't release it only to law enforcement. You could find
your way around it because TMZ got it. So really,
(17:42):
is it that difficult? But when it comes to Kareem
Hunt's career, because the career of ray Rice was over.
Right when ray Rice happened, his career was over. Is
it over for Kareem Hunt? You think it would be
because you say, well, it was the same thing for
ray Rice, But no, it's not. Ray Rice's career ended
for a combination of things. Number One, it was the
(18:04):
first video we had seen, and the NFL needed to
take a big stand against domestic violence. I mean, do
you ever really need to take a big stand. It
should be something that's that should be a reaction. But no, well,
we have to take a big stand here because we
lied and let ray Rice stay in the league. And
here's this video of him punching his wife in the face.
Sure he only had that two games suspension, wasn't then,
(18:24):
And no, there's no tape. No, we didn't know this,
We didn't know the severity and then had to come
back over the top. So yeah, And also he was
twenty nine and was kind of on the down side
of his career, a lot of carrots, a lot of carries,
a lot of mileage, low yards per carry average, and
question of whether he was going to to be in
a time share. So what's gonna happen now for Kareem Hunt.
(18:48):
I'll just I'll lay this out because this is how
I see him getting back in the league sometime in
I don't agree with it, but I see how he
gets back in. So they release him now and no
one's gonna touch him for the rest of the season.
The Chiefs and no, I mean, you saw what happened.
The Redskins claimed Ruben Foster and that's been just an
absolute disaster. Them trying to defend why they signed the guys,
(19:10):
saying other teams have bad guys, so we can have
bad guys too. And then Doug William's got a messages
from every woman He's ever met in his life, family,
all the way through, and then he's got to come
out and talk again. Meanwhile, the brain trust that the
guys that are actually in charge don't have to stand
in front of a microphone and face the music. So
(19:31):
he will sit out the rest of this season. He
will go through it's be announced, he's gonna go through
some kind of rehabilitation. He will go through all that
so he can get his life back in order. And
in the spring, I would say, when we're getting around
the draft after after he's been out for a while,
teams will start sniffing around and seeing if they can
(19:52):
bring Kareem Hunt back in, if he's learned his lesson,
if he can come back in the league. Because and
here's what teams are going to say. They're gonna look
at this video and say, this video is bad. But
it's not Joe Mixon punching that woman in the restaurant.
It's not Ray Rice knocking his wife out. It's him.
(20:13):
He pushes a girl, yeah, and that's bad, and that's bad,
but she pushes him back, and then he doesn't really
hit her. He pushes a friend who goes into her,
and yeah, he kind of kicks at her a little bit.
So you know, even though this is bad, it's not
Ray Rice and it's not Joe Mixon, which is a
horrible thing to say. We're gonna do the degree of
(20:35):
violence against women again. I say, you wonder why women
won't come forward when they when things like this happen,
and you see stories like this, and that answers your question.
So I see a few teams going okay, and there's
been some time, and you know, it's been away. The
story is not as hot as it was in in
December and late November when it happened, so they'll look
into it. He's young enough, he's incredibly talented, so someone
(20:56):
will say, all right, we're gonna give you another chance,
and they'll bring him in. He'll do his press conference
right after the draft, right before teams go away for
a while in the mini camps sometimes, and he will
be back in the league for the start of next season. Now,
the only thing that's going to stop this is if
he gets suspended by the NFL. The NFL is gonna
look into this and see what kind of suspension he
(21:17):
could get. Just the fact they released him doesn't mean
that he's not going to get suspended if he gets
all of next year, If he gets part of next year,
that will obviously affect it. But the NFL is gonna
look at this, and even though he's released, they could
announce suspension now and say he says when he when
they when he gets signed in the league, he's back
for he's out for four games, whatever it's going to be.
(21:39):
When the suspension is over, someone will kick the tires
on him and they will say, you know what, let's
see if he can. You know, let's see if he
can he's learned his lesson and get away from get
back in. He's still gonna be twenty five years old,
and let's do it. So he will get back in
the league. At some point he will get back, whether
it's the beginning of next year, if he's suspended, when
it's after that, he will get back in the league.
Michael Vick back in the league. He walked from prison
(22:01):
back into the NFL without a suspension. So all of
these that he will get back in the league because
of his youth, because his talent level, and because teams
will be smart and say, let's lay off it for
a bit and then we'll go get him and hopefully
the outcry won't be as bad. The reason Ruben Foster
was so bad was because the guy bleep and got
arrested three days ago, and the Redskins said he could
be part of our future. I mean to think about again,
(22:23):
I go back to you wonder why women won't come
forward when they see stuff like this happen. So that's
that's the way it's gonna lay out for Kareem Hunt
and his way back to the NFL. Yeah, I think
when what you have here is the Roger Goodell, as
I said, he's been silent on most matters. You've had
a couple of business updates along the way, but there
there hasn't been a lot of talk about where the
(22:44):
league is. We haven't any impromptu state of the Union
kind of addresses from him. But in this particular case,
what what's gonna be curious is when they go to
the penalty phase here, how many games is it? Because
they've been all over the map, right, it was supposed
to be a minimum six games. That was what was
was collectively bargained. That was what we were told, and
they've been all over the map in terms of the
(23:05):
game two games, right, Remember Josh Brown and that whole thing.
Just go back through that. So Ezekiel Elliott got six games,
and there's still a lot of question of what exactly
happened in that whole circumstance, and there was no videotape
like you have here, and so you know, we we
look at some of them argue, hey, this is less egregious,
(23:26):
so it gets a lesser suspense. And Joe Mixon's back
on the field and playing for the Bengals, So it's
just a matter of time. Kareem Hunt, being as talented
a player as he is, he gets a second shot.
Now it's just a question of, well, what what's the
proper time frame and what does the league do in
terms of a response to this, because the backlash has
(23:46):
been swift and severe, and the Chiefs say, well, he
lied to us, not because this is so egregious. Let's
get that right when we when we talk down what
the Chiefs did. Because I see a lot of people
clapping for for him right now and for the for
the Chiefs, brass I should say, clapping for their decision
to release him, and they're saying, well, because he lied
to us, not because of the videotape, not because of
(24:09):
what's on it and the actual actions, but because he
said that it wasn't that bad, and he said, she said,
and and they convinced him because well, look at their
their aspirations and what they're trying to do, that they
needed a guy that talented on the field. So they
took his word and moved on, and now they release
him because he lied. So it's one of those I
(24:33):
think we're too quick to try to give praise to
them for their their swift reaction to this, because clearly
they hoped it would go away as well. Twitter at
how about a fresca Mike at Swollen down the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon coming up
in one minute. More on this with Evan Rosenbloom, TMZ
Sports Executive Producer. But right now deb Carson with what's trending?
(24:53):
D C Well, guys, the Chiefs are releasing running back
Kareem had. Of course, the video was released by TMZ
earlier today, showing Hunt shoving and kicking a woman during
a scuffle in February at a Cleveland hotel. The Chief's
issue to statement saying that during their investigation into the
issue earlier this year quote Kareem was not truthful in
those discussions. The video or at leased today confirms that fact.
(25:16):
Quote we are releasing Kareem immediately and other Chiefs news.
Kansas City has ruled out receiver Sammy Watkins against the Raiders.
Chargers running back Melvin Gordon has been ruled out for
Sunday Night's game against the Steelers because of the knee

(26:20):
Sports Executive Producer, friend of the show and Evan, thanks
so much. I know you've had a really busy day
and what's been going on since you release the Kareem
hunt video online. And I want to just say this
because this is where where I get to from the
beginning of this is that we know that it was
hard to get the release of this video from the
hotel to police for the NFL to see it. And
(26:42):
my and my defense is that so they couldn't see it.
But t MC's got it, So okay, Yeah, I mean
we're good at this kind of stuff, I guess. I mean,
we're proven on multiple occasions that were better than the
NFL at getting videos when it comes to domestic violence
or man on woman crime. That's that's for sure. But
(27:02):
you know, based on what we know so far, the NFL,
it seems in this situation made a real legitimate effort. Uh.
They say that they contacted the police and the police
wouldn't release the video, they contacted the hotel, and the
hotel would reach the video. They contacted the victim, the
victim wouldn't talk. So you know, at a point, what
do you want the NFL to do. It's like they're
(27:22):
going through all of the channels and if no one
wants to play ball with them, their hands are kind
of tied to a point. So I I kind of
understand the NFL's frustration on this one, and it's hard
to really go after him here. Well, now, the thing is,
it's not about seeing the video. I understand that part
of it, but about finding out what was on it.
That's something the NFL could if I get if league
(27:43):
we don't see it all, but finding out what was
on it and then saying okay, let's have a better
investigation than just talking to Kareem Hunt. Right Well there,
I mean to your point on that what we did
uh months ago. A lot of people think that the
bodycam footage that you see in the post, if we
put up earlier that came out today. That's not true.
The body cam stuff where you see the police speaking
with Kareem Hunt, speaking with his friends and speaking with
(28:05):
the victim. We posted that on our website a couple
of months ago, and there's like forty five to, like,
I think an hour and a half a video of
cops talking to people. And if the NFL would have
looked at that video, to me, that shows that this
wasn't just two people having an argument. You had a
cop going up to the woman and hearing her side
of the story, going up to her friends, several witnesses,
(28:26):
and hearing that there are other people in the hotel
who said that there was a fight. Um, even Kareem's
people who were talking to cops were acknowledging there was
a physical incident. So if you're the NFL at that point,
you've got to watch the whole video and listen to
what everyone is saying. And to me, there's enough there
in the police video, which was publicly released a couple
(28:47):
of months ago, to at the very least takes some
kind of disciplinary action against Kareem Hunt. Yeah. I guess
that that's the hard partners. We've been talking about it
a little bit, Evan. The just the idea from the NFL,
once they're stonewalled from receiving the tape, how much they
pursue in terms of, you know, just ferreting around the
business the building to get someone to talk a little bit.
(29:09):
I would assume in their business. They move on. All right,
this this is what's on the file, and we go
back to work. But again, all of that is on
the all we did, all teams he did for the
first video, not not the surveillance video was we just
made a formal request of the police and they gave
us all the body cam stuff with the statements from
everybody involved in witnesses. So if they really wanted, I mean,
(29:30):
they had that based on that alone, I think at
the very there should have been some disciplinary actions some
but that's just my opinion. Well, as you see in
the the commissioner is kind of turtled for a while here.
He's he's kind of disappeared in terms of any of
these kind of actions. Yeah, I mean, and now you
have you have the team taking the strong stance, you know,
cutting him. They cut Kareem Hunt. I did not see
(29:52):
that coming at all. It's just a matter of time,
I think, until another team picks him up. He's twenty
years old and he was the rushing leader last year.
I don't think he's going away anytime soon. But it's
gonna be interesting to see which team decides to stick
a chance on him and what his PR team is
going to do to try to get him back in
I guess the good graces of the public. That is
a hell of a job for any PR can see
(30:14):
any crisis manager, how do you fix Kareem Hunt? And
to me, that's gonna be an interesting part of the
story too. Evan, do you have a relationship with the NFL, Like,
whether it was Ray Rice or videos like this that
come up, do they call you they talked to you
about how you obtain the video or seeing stuff, any
kind of that stuff. Yeah, we actually have a pretty
good relationship with the NFL despite all of this. We
have people there that we get along with great and
(30:35):
we call We called them before we put the story
up to give them an opportunity to comment, as we
do with you know, all of the stories that we break,
we always try to get comments from all of the
different sides, and um, you know, and and Ray Rice. Shockingly,
we have a great relationship with Ray Rice. I mean,
ever since we broke that story, we've had you know,
some people can be like, oh, you guys ruined my
(30:55):
life or whatever, but he's actually not only owned up
to what he did and doesn't blame any one else.
He's actually been working with us too. Uh. When it
comes to public speaking, when he talks to the youth,
he wants to get his message out. Him and Larry Johnson,
of all people, remember the thoughts of the former teach.
Running back was involved in several domestic violence incidents during
his career. He came out and spoke out against Kareem
(31:18):
Hunt today and said, I can't believe you didn't learn
from my mistakes. He now speaks to youth groups and
athletes and tries to get them to learn from all
of the things that he did wrong. When he was
playing executive producer at t MZ, Evan Rosen Bloom on
the Hotline with us to Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen.
Here from the guy go Fox Sports Radio Studios. You
can follow Evan and all of the timeline related to
(31:39):
this and everything else they do over at TMZ at
Evan t m Z. So as we we go through
these processes, Evan, you know, we we look at the
the NFL on one side, and and for you guys,
for Jason and I, it's just the amazing. All right,
how does this stuff start to trail trail into you?
Is there just some inbox, Um, hey we've had hot
(32:00):
tips or is this someone you know, the coming in
clandestine overnight saying hey look what I found. I mean,
I can't I can't really talk specifically, but I can
talk just just general process. Yeah, I mean, look, I
mean sometimes we get stuff from the tip box that's big.
Other times, you know, we have our our reporters are
really good reporters who make contacts. We I mean, this
(32:21):
isn't a story we just picked up today with with
We've been working this story for a long time and
we've made some really good sources on this story. We've
been covering this for a long time. Uh, ray Rice,
same thing. That was the result of a lot of
work into that story. But you know, it looks sometimes
people are just like, hey, here's what I've got. Other times,
people uh lead us to other stories, you know, just
like any other news organization. Um yeah, but people know. Look,
(32:45):
it helps us that people know that we are in
the market for videos. A lot of other news organizations
will say, oh, well that we wouldn't pay for videos.
We do pay for video because We're under the mindset
that if you have a video that's real and we
can authenticate, we can vet can make sure that it's
legitimate and all that stuff. We feel it there's value
in it and people should be paid for it, so
we'll be well, we'll buy your video. If you have
(33:06):
a video of something that's interesting and newsworthy, you can
fall on Twitter at Evan TMZ. That's at Evans TMZ
Executive produce for a TMZ Sports Evan rosen Bloom. Evan,
I know it's been a long day. Thanks so much
for stopping by. As always, we'll talk to you soon.
I appreciate talking to take are having great stuff there
from all right, So that should stop the conversation of
the video. Couldn't be really, as Evan rosen Bloom said,
(33:29):
you could just see the bodycam video and say this
is something that you should that. You could say, okay,
there should be some kind of discipline against Kareem Hunt.
But instead, what did the NFL say, we talked to
Kareem Hunt? Oh okay, that's great. That that that's what
we talked to. We got anybody else now we talked
to Kareem Hunt? Oh well, okay, that's like, you know,
(33:49):
it's it's it's the same thing as the Washington Redskins.
Who would you talk to? We talked to Reuben Foster
and his teammates, talked to the woman who he assaulted
last weekend. No talk to the police. No, we talked
to guys that knew him five years ago. It's like
they want to just do a surface ee cosmetic investigation
on things and hope that well, this video is not
gonna come up. This is two thousand and eighteen. How
(34:10):
many times you have to see stories. Got to realize
there's always gonna be video, especially in a hotel in Well.
But that's the thing is that you had this other
video which has been out there, as Evan Evan said,
you know, go back on their site, going there there archives,
going to his archives. You've got a long block of
video with a lot of pushing and shoving and arguments
and police standing standing there and trying to take everybody's
(34:33):
account and sort it out. That you have to understand
that there are also probably the ten or fifteen minutes
on video there that proceeded right. They just didn't start
a you know something interesting in the hallway, people are
arguing hit record. No, they're on a loop, right. I
see all the infomercials in the middle of the night
for that runs on a loop twenty four hours. I
(34:54):
have to believe those have been active in every hotel
operation going on fifty six the years, if not longer.
So in this particular case for the NFL that that's
just the question in this all right, you tried. Now
they're gonna have to give the accounting of how how
much they went after this and how much once the
season began. Maybe it will hit the back burner Twitter
(35:17):
at how about a fresca Mike at swollen down The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen Live from the Getico Studios,
coming up next. So what does this mean on the
field football wise? The balance of power maybe shifting in
the a f C because the on the field part
of it gets to be a really big deal as well.
We'll get to that coming up next. This is Fox
(35:39):
Sports Radio Today Friday. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at
ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the I Heart Radio app. Be sure to catch
live editions of the Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon
weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio, and I heard radio WAP. I hate that song.
(36:03):
A very serious night here, but I always need to
laugh and realize that this may be the greatest Christmas
song ever. Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith's Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon, Live from the Geico Studios.
There was finally a touchdown in the Pack twelve Championship.
It was a big deal on it and it was
a defensive return for a square. You know, a pick
(36:25):
six has given the Huskies a ten three lead over
Utah eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter. That
third quarter just flew by. But I said, a lot
of running, a lot, not a lot of not a
lot of scoring. You know, there's not a lot of scoring.
You know, the game goes pretty fast. Just got well,
not a lot of penalties, not not a lot. Just
get it done. I mean, Friday night, they're just saying,
we got we got other things to do. There's seven
(36:45):
minutes to go in this game, and this game could
end in less than ninety minutes. This could be a
less than ninety minute football game. Highly impressive. It's just
like a Greg Maddox pitched game from the late nineteen nineties.
Any any time Chris Sale gets on the hills, one thing,
give me the ball, let's go. But the Kareem Hunt situation,
we'll have more on this coming up in about ten minutes.
(37:07):
Kareem Hunt released by the Chiefs today after video surface
of him assaulting a woman from earlier this year in February.
We've talked about the morality aspect of it in the
NFL not being able to do a complete investigation because
they just didn't. But you want to get on the
field for a few minutes about what this means for
(37:29):
the Chiefs. This is a guy who is a Russian
champion and is the fifth leading rusher in the NFL
right now, and he is a huge cog in that
Chief's offense. They were rolling rolling the clear favorites to
get to the Super Bowl in the a f C.
Clear favorites over Pittsburgh, clear favorites over the New England Patriots,
(37:52):
favorites over the Chargers. And now you've taken out an
incredibly talented running back. And I know everybody wants to
jump in and talk about Spencer Ware and spencer Ware
picked him up in fantasy and all this stuff. But
on the field, if spencer Ware was as good as
Kareem Hunt, well then he'd be playing more and he
would get a bunch of carries instead, he doesn't. So
(38:14):
to think that spencer Ware is gonna suddenly come into
be Kareem Hunt, that's not the case. They're touched the
ball thirty six times. They're gonna alter their game plan.
He's not gonna suddenly be a guy. Well he's got
twenty carries and he's got you know seven, that's not
gonna happen. Now. Think now, what happens to the Chiefs
is they go from being the runaway favorites to now,
oh they have problems on the field. We're just talking
(38:35):
about on the field. They have problems on the field.
So now they've come back to the Patriots and the
Chargers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Because to suddenly think, well,
we'll just plug another guy in. I know it's a
good offense, but you can't. You're not just plugging in
a guy, as you said, with thirty six carries this season. Yeah,
I think one of the big thing you got, don't
you carries fourteen receptions at this point. They do have
(38:57):
the Raiders for this week, so and what are they
a sixteen point favor them might have moved a little bit,
but you look at the rest of their schedule. You
have the Ravens, then you have the Chargers at home,
the Seahawks on the road, and the Raiders once again.
So a schedule that should keep them perhaps dropping out
of the top two top two seeds right, still waiting
(39:18):
on Eric Berry to come back to help bolster that defense.
So still their problems there. Mahomes five picks. The last
time out our our twitter timeline. It was a great debate.
It got a bit off the rails at times. So
guys be kind to each other. I love the debates,
I love the excitement about m v P talk. Just
just be good to one another. Let's not, you know,
take out the bats here. But the fact is that
(39:41):
you have a team that now offensively, you're already down Watkins,
so that's one of your speed receivers on the outside.
He's not gonna play again this week. His status long
term still still the question. He's just a couple of games, uh,
and has been limited in others. So you have that
you got my homes. As you get deeper into the season,
we'll see how he responds to weather. And then one
the playoff comes and you start to grind it down
(40:02):
a little bit. If they're not at home, they're not
an arrowhead. Things change suddenly. You know, the Patriots are alive.
And that game between the Chargers and the Steelers this
Sunday night, it's already twitter at how about a fresca
Mike at Swollen Dome The Jason Smith Show with My
big friend Mike Harmen. Washington leading Utah ten three under
(40:26):
eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter. The Huskies
have the football they are driving. Another touchdown might end this.
But coming up next, more on just why sports leagues
struggle with morality and oh, by the way, Kareem Hunt apologized.
Now he apologized. It's next on Fox Fox Sports Radio,
(40:49):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmen,
Live from the Geico Studios, where fifteen minutes canna save
you more in car insurance. For more information, visit Geiko
dot com. We'll get back into the Kareem Hunt story
coming up in just a couple of minutes. But because
it's happening, right now. The Pack twelve championship game, yes,
five minutes ago. In the fourth quarter, defensive stalwarts, Washington
(41:11):
leads Utah ten to three, the only touchdown in this
game of pick six Huskies taking the lead. Utah trying
to hold on and get down the field for a
touchdown as they have about a hundred and thirty yards
of offense tonight. I mean Washington has about three hundred,
(41:33):
but Utah has about dred and thirty. Move the ball there,
only town By. That's just it. You're one play away,
your one fumble, You're one problem. And as we've seen
from Browning in his career, he'll give it up to you.
It's just like watching a Jets game. And not only
like that, the stands, the people at Levi's or the
people not at Levi's. It honestly, I just tweeted out
(41:55):
of video because Dave Softie Maaylor are our buddy who
does uh afternoon Drive in Seattle, is covering this game
for kJ R, and he twoted out a picture of
what the game looked like, and I believe it was
in the third quarter and then it looked like what
an NFL stadium looks like. If there's a one o'clock kickoff,
like what it would look like when the gates open
(42:17):
or zero burial. I mean, it's just absolutely ridiculous. We
were sitting back as we were ready for the show,
right the odd couples on Chris Brussard and Rob Parker
and my daughters are are hanging and you know, eating
pizza and being silly. Tonight. My daughter goes where all
the people? Dad? The end of the second quarters when
she first noticed, she goes, Dad, there's nobody there. This
(42:40):
is a championship game, Julius. What does it look like like?
Like a thousand people? Maybe maybe more depending on it
if we can corral them all together and you want
or to Uh, it's hard to see because you're not
seeing a lot of wide show, a lot of fan
uh celebrations and any of the replays. And it's it's amazing.
(43:00):
And I know that you want to move and play
conference championship games in a format that would have it
be at a neutral site. I get that part of it,
but it's college you know, It's it's hard to fill
these stadiums and fans that want to travel that far
(43:22):
for this game. I would have no problem if you
say you know what, whoever is the better team or
the higher ranked team, you play this game at home,
everybody comes, you get full stadiums. There. That's the spoils
that you get for having the better record. Because to
say here's a team like and and this is this
is tough because you're talking about two nine and three teams.
But let's just say, let's take the Big Ten for example, Right,
(43:43):
you have Ohio State in Northwestern right, or in the
A c C you have Pittsburgh and Clemson. Right, Pittsburgh,
you know they finished season six and six or it
feels like it anyway, Now you're talking about a team
that is undefeated in Clemson that has one there a
vision is twelve and oh and they get to play Pittsburgh,
who's seven and five or eight and four. The same
(44:05):
thing with Northwestern, they're eight and four, and you're plugging
about a one loss Ohio State team that clearly has
shown they're they're better team over the course of the
regular season. Anything can happen on Saturday, but they're gonna
play against each other. It's not a big deal to say, well,
you know what, Ohio State gets to host this game
or Clemson gets to host this game. They sort of
proved all year long they deserve home field advantage, and
(44:28):
you're gonna get people coming to the game, you can
split the gate. I I don't think teams have a
problem with that. Oh we're gonna split the gate. Great,
because if you're gonna split the gate when there's a
thousand people there, I'm sure Clemson would rather split the
gate where Okay, there's sixty thousand and we're gonna give
you half of what we make for that. Okay, that's fine,
because they're making way more money than we would if
we're having it at a neutral site. So I don't
(44:48):
see that being that big a deal. Home field advantage,
all right, you know, it's it's the It's one of
the last batches of things you don't see in college
football because everything that's decided postseason is neutral field. Here
we are for something like this, you can go home
field advantage. So I think the biggest thing for me
is you can do that for those situations and those
conferences where you know folks aren't traveling and where there's
(45:11):
a problem, right because the Big Ten they're gonna travel
lead by Northwestern squad out of it because they certainly.
I mean they packed up like fifty buses of kids.
Donors said hey, we we want the kids to be
able to experience this, and sent them to Indianapolis, just
up the road. But the idea being that, you know,
for the Big Ten conference, Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, you're talking
(45:33):
about states where people are saying, wait, I've got an
excuse to get the hell out of here and move
move down the road. Not that Indianapolis is necessarily balmy,
but it's different and we've actually experienced it. When we
were there for the Super Bowl a couple of years ago.
It was fifty degrees every day in late January. They're
walking down the street in short sleeves. But the fact is,
you know, you I think it's a conference to conference,
(45:55):
but not a terrible idea when you're looking at what
we're watching tonight where there is nobody, there's no excitement,
no buzz. It was hard to sell and you're on
a Friday night. Like That's the other thing for the
Pack twelve right today, they had to answer questions about
how much they're spending for their their headquarters in San Francisco,
how much the rent is and what the property is
(46:16):
and everything. Why are he's paying paying so much for
square footage there? Why can we not access your Pack
twelve network on all these cable systems. There's there's a
lot of just basic meat and potatoes business questions that
you have to answer about the conference before you get
to where the conference game is, before they get the
title game, before you get that. That's like the eighth
(46:37):
question you gotta you got straight business practices all around
for Larry Scott. Hey, Larry, I got another one for you.
Seattle Times was killing them with questions about all of
their business doings and happenings over the course of the
year to where Larry Scott was looking like he was
gonna throw the white flag. It's it's not even hot. No,
it's not even hot at Levi's. I get if it
(46:58):
was middle of the day, I got it scored because
Leviz is Well, that's always the reputation right one half
of the stadium. You're burning up. You want to hear
a funny story real fast, we'll get to cream hunt.
Do you want to hear funny story or fest about
people not being at something? So when I worked in
local news for a couple of years back in This
is like in the early two thousands and I worked
for KBC here in Los Angeles, and you know, any
(47:19):
time there's something going on, they send reporters to. Here's
something going on in the city. They sent reporter too
for something and it was something at Staples Center. I
forget what it is, where people had to line up
for something ahead of time for tickets. So they decided
we're gonna send They said, should we send sports down?
Should we send you know, entertainment report, regular reporter down there?
And it was I forgot what it was, but it
was something where they decided to send a regular, a
(47:41):
regular reporter down, not not a sports reporter. So they
sent the reporter down and got video the people in
line and for this and there was like nobody in line.
There was like fifty people that were in line for
these things. So how big of a story was it?
But whenever you send a crew somewhere in local news,
it's like, well, we're gonna do the story because we
sent a crew there. You sent him and you gotta
(48:02):
sell this is not that big a deal. So this
is where the story gets really funny. So because I
think because the reporter didn't get what it was like
to say, you know, how many people they should say?
We're there. They did the report and and they're they're
talking about, you know, here's the thing, and they're showing
tight shots of people in life don't want to like,
here's fifty people and that's it. And the reporters said,
(48:25):
and so these dozens of fans are still waiting forms
no no sens of fans and the the are and
I remember the executives were so mad. They were like,
you wait, we do this story at the eleven it's
scores of fans or it's it's fans are yeah, lying
around the blocks of here you go. Announced attendance just
(48:48):
coming from Stewart man now on Twitter. Announced attendance for
the pack Wealth time and game on. Guess is that
like tickets sold and I gotta amp on top of it? Yeah?
If I uh thousand? Come on? Is that is that
(49:11):
the hey corporate? These corporations took a thousand here and
fifteen hundred there. They didn't actually send any people. This
is like, this is like all these companies go, hey,
we got a hundred tickets for the PAC twelve Championship game. Nah, no,
I'm not I'm good Friday night. I gotta get down
to Santa Clara Parking. Is gonna be it? Yeah? No, uh,
just a difficult slug. I mean it's degrees right now
(49:33):
because there's nothing at steak. If it was a pack,
if it was a conference championship game where there was hey,
you know what, there's a lot of steak. You're a
birth in the national championship playoff or whatever, then people
would go. But you don't have everyone is not going
to be that right. As soon as Washington State lost,
you'll you lost a lot of the luster here, right,
because while they weren't they were a prohibitive underdog, and
(49:56):
certainly every college football expert we've talked to our guy
a few tack will join us in a bit, they
didn't have a shot. Right. It was gonna take the
miracle of miracles. Here's fifteen things, and when they were
doing the graphics, they had to do three of them
last week during the Apple Cup, of all the things
that needed to happen, truthfully to get Mike Leach's team
in there, and that didn't happen. Now you have Browning
(50:18):
on here, who was came in highly decorated and highly
uh thought of as a pro prospect struggled through his
Washington career, just got tackled awkwardly, kind of limped off
a little bit. And now we're inside of four minutes
in this ten three defensive brew. Haha. I mean I
celebrated it last night, but there was at least some
(50:39):
style points here. There's no style points here. There's there's
no other than that one play. That was it. I
got one exciting play. Oh and I got a block.
I got a block on a point. So there I
got to twitter at. How about a fresh cup? Mike
gets swollen down The Jason Smith Show with my bess
friend Mike Harmon. Still ten three Huskies with the lead,
three and to go in the fourth quarter. Kareem Hunt
(51:05):
was released by The Chiefs today. The biggest story. We
spent a lot of time last hour talking about it.
We're gonna get into it much more throughout this hour
and the rest of the show as well. Released today
after video was made public by TMZ of Kareem Hunt
assaulting a woman outside his hotel room in February. Video
was released show him pushing a woman, a woman hits
(51:27):
him back, he gets really angry, rushes at her, pushes
a friend into her, knocks her clean over, and kicks her.
This video has made public and Kareem Hunt was first
put on the Commissioners Exempt List, which means you can't
play pending an investigation, and then he was released by
the Kansas City Chiefs. The NFL will still investigate. Kareem
Hunt put out an apology a little while ago, saying
(51:50):
apologize for his actions. He wants to move past this.
Let's just say right now. He wants to move past this, right, Oh,
it happens out, I want to move past it. No, dude,
you have to take posibility for what you did. You
we're physically assaulting a woman. Didn't tell the chiefs the
truth about what happened, and the NFL's sham of an
(52:11):
investigation will get to coming up as well. But you
can't just say, oh, and I want, yeah, I apologize him.
I can't do that, right. I can just apologize and
say I'm moving past it. Oh my god? Really, I
mean this is what people think again, and you wonder
why women won't come forward when they're victims of domestic violence. Oh, yeah,
I did it. I want to move past it. And
now he apologizes right now not when it happened. It
(52:31):
was we played the audio last at last hour, and
so we played the audio him saying I was in
the wrong place at the wrong time. I just want
to move forward, move past us. Nobody apologizes now, not
because he's sorry, but because now is when the video
came out. So he's not sorry again. He's just sorry
he got caught and now he's gotten cut. He wasn't
sorry before, but he's sorry now only because he got
found out. So let's realize that this apology isn't really
(52:54):
an apology. Likewise, the Kansas City Chiefs, being applauded for
the your swift action of easing him, hadn't really done
much of anything until the video came out either. They
talked to him, I believed whatever he sold them in
terms of what this altercation was, and life proceeded as
normal for him coming into the year and certainly having
(53:15):
a fantastic season over the course of the year. And
now everybody gets reacquainted with Spencer Ware who was their
lead back two years ago before getting injured. Uh, and
it was off to a good start, so certainly from
a fantasy perspective, in this final week of the regular
fantasy season, there's your starting running back if you were
light on those against the Raiders in an advantageous spot.
(53:37):
But for the Chiefs, I think they're getting off easy,
and a lot of people's you know, as estimations and
pats on the back for the well, you know, he
lied to us. So now we're going there's nothing in
their statement about what he did. Just he We investigated it,
we talked to him, we believed him, he lied, we
cut him. There's no condemnation of the acts. There's no
(53:58):
condemnation of of anything more than he didn't. He didn't
tell us the full truth here. And so for for that,
I think the Chiefs need to wear it a little
bit more than perhaps they are. But for Kareem Hunt,
we know that for the NFL, for giving business, there
will be at least one suitor for his services once
whatever punishment comes down from the league. Off. Oh it's more,
(54:20):
it's the Chiefs and the NFL. I mean, we'll he'll
hear it coming up later on this hour. You will
hear there is easy evidence that shows you that the
NFL and the Chiefs could have acted more and could
have acted easier than it makes it seem like they did. Well,
we couldn't get the video. Friend, Now that's really not true.

They have just crossed midfield. They are down by a touchdown. Well,

the big action tomorrow in college football. What upsets could
occur that's coming up next. He've been right here. This

Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, live from the
Geico Studios, and it's a final in a barn Burn
twelve championship game. Dozens of fans got to see the
Washington Huskies escape as they are now Packed twelve champs
beating Utah ten three. Joining us now on the hot line.
(55:27):
He's got a full breakdown of this, he told us.
Take the under Take the under take the under publisher
of College Football News dot com everything you want advance
of the conference championship games and more tomorrow. Friend of
the show, Pete feu Tech, Pete, I'll tell you what
nothing like a ten three championship game in front of
dozens of fans. I don't want to hear it anymore
(55:50):
from anybody who windes and complains about the Chiefs in
Rams or at two West Virginia Oklahoma game, or I
missed defense. I mean, I like punts. That's football, that's
real footbun. These two defenses are amazing, and it's a bought.
Is boring a game as it could get. And that's
(56:11):
think about things this way. If we had talked back
in August, and I were to stay to you that
the league with Khalil Tate and Bryce Love and Chip
Kelly and Mike Leach and Justin Herbert and Kevin Sumlin
was going to have a ten three pack twelve final
with no offensive touchdowns, you'd have thought, not a chance.
(56:31):
That's what we got in front of a few people.
Browning walks out the winner. He gets to do all
the interviews didn't really too much. I guess they had
a lot of yardageen in offense, but you know it
would have at least had some appeal. I guess if
Mike Leach and his Zane nost would have made it here,
because they'd have a puncher's chance. If everything went to
hell tomorrow, well they need to do something different because
(56:53):
clearly the setting doesn't work. And I know they'll sell
it out for the National Chance Fiend Chip and everything,
but Levi Stadium in that location, I mean, northern California
is just death when it comes to uh, college football.
I mean there's just I mean we know this from
page views over the years. It stinks for us when
Stanford is good because nobody reads any of it, and
(57:16):
it just there just is not a Pack twelve base
out there outside of when USC is really awesome or
unless there's something big happening or a superstar team that's
that's capturing the imagination. There's just it's just not a draw.
And so when this this is your one time when
you get a chance to get America to care and
(57:38):
watch watch the Pack twelve where it's not on it
two in the morning and the East coast and there's
this send it to Vegas, right, yeah, there's so yeah.
Or home field, there's something I mean you might see.
I like home field. Pat I said, home field works
because especially when you look at games now that this
week Ohio State, which clearly has earned home field in
(57:59):
a game against north Western Clemton, who has clearly earned
home field in a game against Pittsburgh. Yeah, it's the
same issue with the a c C Championship two. It's
that it's there isn't the big giant base. They're a
fans unless you're getting you know, Clemson versus Florida. Now
you can't do comes with a Florida state. But you
know what I mean, too major programs exactly. That just
(58:22):
doesn't draw so and it's it's just not a good
look when your conference championship game is, like you said,
seen by doesn't. Yeah, looked at the live betting odds
during the game, Pete when they started the third quarter
over under, was that twenty three and a half? Now,
so he moved forward into tomorrow. I guess for chaos scenarios,
(58:43):
you want to see Alabama get blown out right. No, Actually,
the here's your chaos scenario. It goes chalk big time
because think of it this way. If if let's see
Oklahoma beats Texas, you know so enough where the defense
Rana had these problems, but they win relatively handily and
you can say, okay, look they just avenged their onrue
(59:05):
loss on the season and that offense is amazing and
they have the most fun player in college football and
Kyler Murray. Then you move on and obviously, uh, if
the Alabama beats Georgia and they do it by like
ken but it's it's good, but it's good enough for
you because no Many America is gonna be like, yeah,
we need this to hoss Georgia team in. And then
Clemson gets off the bus and they put forty eight
(59:25):
on pit and get on the bus and leaves and
that's all set. And then Ohio State just room rocks
Northwestern like behind this story, let's do so let's say
that obviously, So let's say all that happens and you
aren't chaos for the next twelve hours. How about that
for a theoretical argument where for the right now we're
(59:47):
thirteen for thirteen in the college Football Playoffs era where
twelve and one teams get into the college football playoffs.
If you've won your Power five conference champion, and now
you're saying we're gonna leave a Big Ten champion out
for the third straight year, especially if it's the Sile State,
especially after it blew out Michigan and Northwestern Meanwhile, Notre
Dame doesn't play a conference championship game and it's struggled
(01:00:09):
to get by Michigan and Northwestern. So there could be
a lot of fun debates out there in the social
media world. Well, one thing we could see tomorrow. We're
talking with Pete few Tech, publisher of College football News
dot com. The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon. Football
Scoop reported earlier today, citing sources, that urban Meyer told
athletic director Jean Smith in Ohio State he expects to
step down before the twenty season. Jean Smith said on Friday,
(01:00:33):
he said, I didn't know anything about this report, but
it's kind of weird. It comes up. We've been talking
all years. Urban Meyer really gonna stay. He's piste at
Ohio State for not having his back with the whole
Zack Smith controversy. What's gonna happen here? I think he
retires after either it's not after this year, it's definitely
next year. It's just he takes or takes a break.
(01:00:54):
I think he just sort of need one. Just he's
obviously fried and he's he's done a great job of
being able to manage his They need I mean all
college coaches are nuts, but he's had to really sort
of fight his own urges to just sort of try
to relax, to try to chill it down a little bit.
And you know, obviously a lot of the stress as
(01:01:15):
his own making over the last you know, several months.
But like you said, it's been a you know, it's
been a storm. I'm no, I'm not gonna stay you know,
sort of pity party for you know, Urban Meyer, especially
after everything had happened. But at the same time, he's
he does have his these issues that are legitimate, and
he's got his help to worry about. So it's a
(01:01:36):
really really legitimate thing that he's gonna have to deal with.
Pete we have fun here in Los Angeles, says. Everybody's
wondering if it's Gosling or if it's Kingsbury walking around
the USC campus, which is all fun and and and fine.
But Clay Helton doesn't want Kingsbury on that staff, does he? Uh, yeah,
he does, because he should. If Clay Helton can't get
(01:01:58):
at the job done, could Kingsbury is not his problem?
You know, if he's not. If here's the deal, you're
Clay Hilton, either your team's you know, doing this and
playing in the Pact twelve Championship this time next year,
or you're going no matter what, no matter you know
what Cliff Kingsbury does, you know eight and four or
even nine and three. He's not going to do it
for Clay Holton next year. So Kingsbury being there doesn't
(01:02:20):
hurt you in that way. And yet here's a guy
who he's got the NFL calling him, he's he could
have his pick of several big jobs. And that's kind
of the crazy part for Texas Tech is that the
you know, yeah, they got rid of him and there,
but for the grace of his injured quarterback or two,
he would have been bowling and everything would have been fine.
And now he's the hottest coach out there where you know,
(01:02:42):
there are places like Georgia Tech which probably can't get
him because there's a shot that Kingsbury becomes the next
USC head coach next year. You can follow on Twitter
at Pete feu Tech. If you want your best predictions
against the spread Championship Week. You want the most likely
college football playoff chaos scenario, what's gonna happen? You want
your Championship Week final thoughts predictions and investment advice. Go

to college Football News dot com. Every preview is done
by Pete few Tech. No other writers. No, it's Pete
few Tech, by Pete few Tech, by Pete few con
Teck all the way. But then there's the one that
just says by college Football News dot Com. Like you know,
that's the aggregate. It takes a cast of millions to
put this thing together. But as my name is on
(01:03:27):
the chopping block when it comes to the prediction, Yeah,
Pete is aways funny, Thanks so much. We'll talk to
you next week. Join the game money, there goes Pete
few Tech. Look, urban Meyer is going to step down
and he's gonna recharge. But here's the thing for urban Meyer.
Forget about college football. This is a guy that in
one year is gonna then take his talents to the
(01:03:48):
National Football League. He's done it in college when National
Championship in Florida, He's done it at Ohio State. Now,
you know, with with everything, and in the twenty four
hours of recruiting and everything, he wills it back and
say now is my time for the NFL. Because now
people are really starting to appreciate the gamed coach that
he is. You know, watching what he did to Michigan
this year was I opening for many people. And I
(01:04:11):
guarantee you a lot of talent evaluators in the National
Football League have said, you know what, he's more than
a college coach, being able to game plan and do
what Bill Belichick does. We're gonna take this and we're
going to make this how we beat this team. But
we haven't really done that that much this year doesn't matter.
I know we can do it, and he does it,
and then at halftime when the other team is adjusting,
then he gives you something different in the second half.
(01:04:33):
He will be an NFL guy and and teams are
gonna say he's gonna be just like Pete Carroll. You
know you thought he was, but look what he did
being able to get to Seattle, We drafted really well,
got everybody raw, rob ought into his atmosphere. They won
a super Bowl, should have won to Urban. Meyer's the
next Pete Carroll, and he's gonna go to the NFL
in the year curiosity certainly. You know, we had the
(01:04:53):
Michigan game where you had a lot of questions of
where where it was, where were the history on, where
were the the problems. Why was it he doubled over?
Now he had the fall into his wife's arms. Things
that that helped further that narrative a little bit at
the end. So since past health issues is that's something
that that is part of all of it? Is it
just at arms length with Gene Smith and the rest
(01:05:17):
of the staff right and and the regions and everybody
at Ohio State that he doesn't feel like he was
treated properly during this entire process. I mean, there's a
lot going on for that game tomorrow. One of the
curiosities is if those games go against their their possible
advancement towards a playoff birth do they come out full
(01:05:40):
guns for sixty minutes? Where did they put it in
the tank? Twitter at how out of Fresca? Mike at
swollen dumb as he gets completely nervous for Ohio State Northwest,
getting a little twitchy. So it's almost that time. But
straight ahead we'll get back into the Kareem hunt situation
and get a little bit more big picture as the
chief are now without their star running back, who has
(01:06:02):
been released following the release of a video which shows
him committing domestic violence acts against a woman from earlier
this year. But first let's check in with Deb Carson
and find out what's trending. Deb, Well, it is in
the books talking about the Pack twelve Championships. Snapped to Shelley,
out of the shotgun. Here comes up Bliss. Shelley steps up,
throws on the way, intercepted Byron Murphy agin he takes
(01:06:26):
the ball away from the receiver. The Huskies with an
interception on the third straight possession. Washington Huskies Radio network
as Washington takes down Utah ten to three to win
the Pack twelve Championship. And the guy who just had
that pick six a sixty six yard or Byron Murphy,
the sophomore defensive back, named the m v P of
(01:06:46):
the Pack twelve Championships. So the Huskies down the ute
and they will face the winner of the Big Ten Championship.
Will it be Northwestern or Ohio State? Well, where that
game will meet the Huskies in the Rose Bowl, of course.
The big story of the night Kansas City Chiefs releasing
running back Kareem Hunt after the release of a video
by TMZ showed Hunt shoving and kicking a woman during
(01:07:07):
a scuffle in February at a Cleveland hotel, online car
shopping and be confusing. Not anymore. With True Prize from
True Car, now you can know the exact price will
pay for your next car. Is a True Car to
enjoy a more confident car buying experience. Still underway, it's
stable center Matericks lead the Lakers fifty less than a
minute to go, second quarter, late second quarter in Portland,
I guess lead the Trailblazers sixty guys. That's part of
(01:07:31):
that game. Yeah, was the non p I to end
it and Kyle Winningham getting on the field and cursing
out the referees. That's the highlight of the game. He
goes and he started, you can get the hell out
of here. Get off the field. You suck. He's all
in the face. Man obviously defends it. Back runs through
the Utah receiver. Have more than a field goal, have
(01:07:52):
more than I think they're responsible. I could give you
four of those in a row. What are you gonna do, coach?
You got nothing? You know, this Kareem Hunt story we'll
get We'll get to the the impact of the off
the field part of it in a few minutes. But
now that he's been released by the Chiefs after the
(01:08:15):
release of this domestic violence video from back in February,
which he assaulted a woman outside his hotel room, which
is in the hotel where he lives, his apartment in
a hotel where he lived. Just to stay on the
field for a second. For how big a story this is.
In this vein of it, the Chiefs were set to
(01:08:36):
own the a f C for the next five years.
All of their talent is young Patrick Mahomes and they're
not paying him Tyreek Hill and not not paying him
yet they don't They have no offensive lineman who are
starters over the age of thirty. And they had Kareem
Hunt twenty four years old and he's one of the
best running backs in the game. Travis Kelsey's twenty nine,
(01:08:59):
but he out to think he's got at least another
two or three really good years left. You can replace
a tight end in that offense. They were set to
run the a f C for the next five years. Yeah,
just became a question of how quickly you know when
these guys came up paying them and whether they stick
around and what those deals look like. Obviously, the Steelers
Roethlisburger long in the tooth, has talked to retirement a
(01:09:20):
couple of years. Philip rivers, he can't quarterback forever as
brilliant as he's been this season, and there's nobody well
that that's there, Tom Brady, We've seen, well, the evidence
is there that there's just a change a foot there
in New England for Kansas City, forty four million dollars
under the salary cap to your point of all of
(01:09:41):
these guys on their rookie deals and coming up and
Tyreek Hill trending as well, because people going back into
the fact that he's stole on they were set to run,
they probably would have won right now. Sing where right
now two super Bowls in the next five years. I
don't think that's that outlandish to say, because look, they're
(01:10:01):
gonna be one of the co favorites to win it
this year. They probably went, this is mahomes first year
as a starting quarterback. He's just gonna get better. So
they probably would have won two super Bowls in the
next five years. So this is where they sit right now.
And now, as you said, forty four million under the cap,
they got a lot of guys who they could offer
deals to or not to free more money up from
(01:10:23):
the cap. This year, and this now becomes a destination
for lady On Bell. They have money to pay him. Suddenly,
mout night not be well, it's the Jets or nothing.
Good luck if you want to get paid. The Chiefs
have money and levy On Bell could be that guy,
and I guarantee you they will make a big push
for that. Now, does levy On Bell want to go
to Kansas City? Does he want to go to New
York and be a big superstar and number one media market? Well,
(01:10:45):
he tweeted out about picture of him superimposed in a
Indianapolis Colts. Right, imagine this because he's gonna go to
whoever pays No, that's right, Yeah, the Raiders. I mean
you got a lot of piles them cash. If the
money is the same, all right, then there's a But
obviously if the Jets give him five dollars more when
(01:11:06):
I'm going to New York. But now the Chiefs become
a suitor because they were never involved in Now this
is a team that can win Super Bowls and move on.
This is I mean, this could be a super team.
This could be like the Warriors. And now you're talking
about Levian Bell that could join this team and come
in something. It's oh my god, we just even got
better at running back because now that's an option, got
guarantee you Levian Bell, you look at this, go man,
(01:11:27):
I can go there now. Yeah, Indianapolis alright, and New York.
I made fun of the Jets on Twitter. I probably
all right, But now the Chiefs would be an option
you could get over the I made fun of the
Jets on Twitter. I think that would go into the
wayside really pass. Look, yeah, you know, off of a
lot of money. We got a hundred million dollars. People
feel a lot better, There's no question about it. But yeah,
(01:11:49):
for for Levian Bell, now that's one more team you
add to the potential list of suitors, and at the
running back position, you're seeing guys getting paid right there,
your top top option. There was of a question of
whether Levy on Bell was gonna get his money. I
mean people were Matan took this into a weird place
of suddenly, those are not gonna be teams knocking at
his door with a giant novelty. It would be the
(01:12:12):
length of the contract, you know, is it gonna be, hey,
we'll give you what you want for three years. But
now that there's a bigger bidding war. Now suddenly Kan's city.
If they want to get in, they would have to say, well,
the Jets are gonna give him, you know, thirty nine
million guaranteed. We got to offer, you know, at least that.
I mean that guarantee is probably gonna because that's the
one thing you know, he's not. It's not like Kirk
(01:12:32):
Cousins where it's gonna where Kirk Cousins got the eighty
nine million guaranteed from the Jets until the Vikings just
get close lately on Bell is gonna say, the Jets
are given me fifty million guaranteed. Yeah, but the Chiefs
they could win Super Bowl. They're giving you forty million, Jets, Jets,
give me that extra ten million. Tell him to come
back over the top. That's never You didn't just give
(01:12:52):
up fifteen million dollars for that, for that, not like
you gotta get. You just gave up an entire season's
worth of salary. Right. We thought about it after week one.
That's eighty five thousand two of us look at each other, Wow,
this is a committed guy, and he went all the way.

(01:14:59):
That's pretty good to You could have been a DJ,
like when when DJs were popular. You know, I actually
do DJ on the side a lot of stuff. I
was at a s U the other month, you know
what you know us? Yeah, what were you at a
s U? Because it was my friend's little brother. He
had a frat party, so I went put your hands
in the air. If you listen to Fox Sports Radio hard,
(01:15:20):
I'm gonna play a little bit of the Chase and
Spitchell in my garment. Here we go. The best part
of the night was that they knew prior what my
DJ name was, so they had giant vegetables floating in
the crowd because my DJ names DJ vegetables, so it
was it was funny. It really is DJ vegetables like vegetables. Vegetables,
I know, I understand it. Explained the joke again, tables,
(01:15:42):
I like it. Vege tables say fastt's vegetables. It's a
jump to conclusions. Man, here he is to book him
for either your bar Mitzvah birthday party or for lift
later on tonight. Yeah you can. Are you driving tonight? No,
not to night. I got some plans later tonight asleep,
(01:16:06):
plans later on tonight. All right, he's working hard. Okay,
that's what I just asked him. Thank you, my man, hustles.
I just asked him what I just and he fueled
up on somewhat buck wheat noodles. Had buck wheat noodles. Dude,
I didn't know they existed. It was incredible. That's what
you just have. Put anything in your body. Oh, it
says it's healthy, so I'm gonna eat it. I hold
anything in my body. What do you mean? I knew
(01:16:26):
what's in it. I just didn't know they made it.
Wait a minute, slide over, Wait, what do you mean,
I didn't know what they could have been something. It
could have been synthetic stuff you're putting in your bods.
It just sounds great, So I ate it because it
says it's healthy on the thing. I ask you, is
it really healthy just because you see something printed on
an ingredients? No, I see the ingredient baseless be eating
a plastic bag. I would know the taste of a
(01:16:47):
plastic back. What did they just? What was you do?
What was the what was the hold on? You're you're
skipping beast? That important, not admiss you just keep going,
just keep going. It's like when people say this taste
like blank, Like, I don't you know what was that?
What was it? St? Croix water? Right, it's healthy. That's
everybody drinks now the water in the world. And it
had what in it? It had droppings like the cockroach boys. Yeah, exactly,
(01:17:10):
but it's healthy. It's health See that's what happened. People
are still buying it. You're gonna wind up eating stuff
like that. You're vegetable. How does it have something in it?
DJ vege table, thank you. That sounds like a little kid,
DJ table. It's like when Charlie Sheen was writing children's
songs on two and a half p mustard or something.
(01:17:31):

kale I gotta record that asparagus. It's as as a

the Kareem Hunt story is front and center with what's
going on. Kareem Hunt, who was waived and released rather
by the Chiefs earlier tonight following the release of a
video which shows him physically assaulting a woman outside his
apartment in January or in February of this year. The
(01:18:16):
NFL's investigation and the chiefs investigation not nearly what it
could or should have been. We talked to Evan rosen
Bloom TMZ executive producers saying, look, the NFL and the
Chiefs could have looked at the body cam video from
the police and there was enough there for some kind
of discipline on Kareem Hunt, but they didn't do it
because they kind of short armed it and they decided, well,
(01:18:36):
if there's no charges Kareem Hunts a big star, the
NFL can look bad, will look bad. We don't want
to lose a running back like Kareem Hunt who's done
what he's done so far in the last couple of years,
so we kind of cover it up. I say all
the time, it's so hard for me to look at
a situation this and go how hard is it to
do the right thing morally? But when you realize these
(01:19:00):
are big businesses, and big businesses don't run with any
kind of moral compass because there's no room for it.
Because big businesses like the NFL, like Major League Baseball,
like the NBA are all about making money and satisfying
investors and making your business grow. Do they have time
for moral stuff. They don't, So when things like this
(01:19:22):
come up, they struggle with it. Look Bud sea Ley
struggled morally with so many things as commissioner Major League Baseball.
He was great business wise, but he struggled morally. Struggled
with steroids, he struggled with pie, all Star games, all
these decisions that would be easy for you and I
to make. He struggled with the NBA, is struggled with
the Mark Cuban situation. Oh yeah, I kept people on
(01:19:43):
my roster of employees even though I knew they were
assaulting women. Yep, yep, you still got to run the team.
They don't have any kind of moral compass because it's
not something they're used to doing when you run big business.
Lots of bad guys run big business, and being morally
responsible is not something in anybody's wheelhouse. And that's why
this happens. Well, that's to day You're you're going for
(01:20:04):
cost benefit analysis and what's gonna go down with your
viewer base and what's gonna cause ratings the plummet or
local advertisers to disappear. That's why you know, we talk
all these situations, the Redskins, this situation with the Chiefs,
go back through with Colin Kaepernick. Not that you equate
those at all, but when you're talking about the business,
(01:20:27):
you're lumping all these situations. You're trying to figure out
what the impact is to your bottom line, and you're
gonna move accordingly and when you can still help the
bottom line, Yeah, you're gonna You're gonna cut some corners.

We got the Kareem Hunt controversy. We got big games
(01:21:12):
in the NFL coming up as well. But this bit
of breaking news that we want to bring to you
that's obviously going to be the big story throughout the
globe uh the next twenty four hours. George Bush, forty
one president of the United States, has passed away at
the age of ninety four. George Bush was president from
(01:21:37):
winning the election in eight losing to Bill Clinton in two.
He was the last of the World War two generation
to occupy the oval loss of office. And George Bush
was in ill health the past few months. You saw
many videos that came out. He was in a wheelchair
um and he has passed away at the age of
ninety four. Uh, former baseball player, you know, he played
(01:21:58):
at Yale and someone who had the whole family has
had a big imprint in the world of sports. His son,
former president George Bush, Texas Rangers, owning the team for
a long time. And uh, they've been kind of synonymous
with baseball, Uh since he began his career in politics.
(01:22:19):
Throughout the eighties and of the nineties and of the
two thousand. Well, oftentimes you'd see he and Barbara Bush
at Houston Astro's games going back many years, right, and
and and big events. You know, the ceremonial first pitches
was always front and center. The love of the sport
and sports in general certainly one of the big things
that you take away from the non political side of
(01:22:42):
his tenure as president and his years afterwards. Uh. Statement
from George W. Bush on the passing of his father, Uh,
we're satting new announced and mentions all the kid's names
to announced that after ninety four remarkable years, our dear
dad has died. George A. W. Bush was a man
of the highest character and the best dad a son
or daughter could ask for. The entire Bush families deeply grateful.
(01:23:03):
Fort ones life and love, for the compassion of those
who have cared for and prayed for Dad, and for
the condolences of our friends and fellow citizens. George Bush,
forty one President, passed away at the age of ninety four.
We have a little bit more on this coming up
in a bit. Obviously, this is gonna be the big
story UH in the world, but our businesses, sports and
we have a lot of stuff to get to coming off.
(01:23:25):
A very big story today which Kareem Hunt was released
by the Kansas City Chiefs following the release of a
video which shows him assaulting a woman outside of his
apartment which is in a hotel, a story that first
broke in February. Now, and this story came out, it
was reported and both the Chiefs and the NFL spoke
to Kareem Hunt about it. There were no charges file
(01:23:47):
police found when they got to the UH scene of
what went on. There was differing stories and the woman
in this video declined to press charges. The NFL kind
of did a halfway investigation, saying they talked to Kareem
Hunt now they didn't really feel that there was any
discipline needed. But now this video is out in now
Kareem Hunt is out in Kansas City, joining us now
(01:24:09):
on the Hotline Serious X and NFL host and inside.
You can follow me on Twitter at Alex mar Veza
is the aforementioned Alex mar Vez. And how's it going.
I'm doing okay? And what what a crazy situation with
Kareem Hunt. I mean, you're talking about a guy as
of yesterday, right who's gonna who was expected to remain
a huge part of the Kansas City Chiefs offense, and
(01:24:30):
tonight he's out of a job. He doesn't know where
he's going to be playing next. You know, if he's
going to be playing in the NFL again. I would
assume that he would be. We'll get to that in
a little bit. But just just an amazing turn of
events for a player who had everything going right for him.
At the end of the twenty seventeen season, he was
the NFL you know he can I don't know if
he was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, but
I do know. I don't know if Alvin Kamara won it,
(01:24:51):
but he won the NFL rushing title and just such
a promising player with so much great things ahead of him,
and now that's all blown away. By a terrible decision
that he made on February night up in Cleveland. You know,
I get to this part of it, Alex. I understand
that the hotel where he lived couldn't release the video
to the NFL, but they released it to the authorities here.
TMZ got it today and was able to put it out.
(01:25:14):
We talked to Evan rosen Bloom, executive producer of TMZ Sports,
and he said, listen, we just filed the request for
the body camp footage. We've been following this story for
a long time and that should have been enough for
discipline for Kareem Hunt. Just off the body cam footage
not what we saw today. So I just sit back
and I go, we just had Ray Rice a couple
of years ago, and here's the NFL and the chiefs saying, well,
here was a domestic violent situation. They talked to Kareem
(01:25:37):
Hunt a little bit, no charges filed, and they kind
of back off, and here it is. They wind up
with egg on their face again over this. Well, a
couple of things about this, Listen, t MZ. I'm not
exactly gonna be holding them to uh high journalistic standards.
They get news, but they pay for video things like
this in the NFL. You know that's interesting, right, I mean,
you know, we get into this topic. Should the NFL
(01:25:57):
be trying to bribe people how to get video that
they shouldn't be seeing, right, because that's what TMZ does.
I mean, they pay people off to get video that
hasn't been officially released, right. But they could have found
the NFL could have found out what was on It
was like they could have Okay, what is this, Let's
look at the body camp footage. Let's see this. They
could have done a more thorough investigation because obviously there
was stuff there that they just either didn't look at
(01:26:20):
or didn't talk to the right people. That's a fair point.
And you know, without knowing, you know, without having talked
to the investigators, I'm you know, I can't necessarily say that.
I think too. You know, when you talk about a video,
we're talking interpretation here as well. You know, And it's interesting,
you know, talking to someone connected to this whole thing
about how had this pert had had Kareem hunt, you know,
after the altercation where he gets punched in the face
(01:26:41):
and then swings back, and you know, that's one thing,
but then at the end when he kicked the girl.
But then see it's a kick, you know, to you know,
some people, So he just pushed her over. He didn't
like kick her. But when you say kick, you're thinking
that he just like leveled, like this giant soccer kick
to her head, like UFC style. And that wasn't necessarily
the case either. I'm not condoned in any of this, okay,
(01:27:01):
but when it came to this investigation, I think the
NFL has to take a better look at what it
is that they're doing right now. Why are they have
why are they having these problems that continue to recur.
You know, we look at John John Josh Brown, the
kicker a couple of years ago with the New York Giants.
The NFL says we investigated, Well, no, you really didn't
do a good job because it ended up there were
so many other instances of abuse with this same thing
(01:27:22):
with the Chiefs. Just because you're running into dead ends anymore,
people that don't want to cooperate, you know, because featured
in that video, there's a blonde woman in that video.
That's Kareem Hunt's girlfriend, who's part of all this. Okay,
So you know, and I don't know how many people
know that or not, but I'm just telling you right now,
so you know there was that I mean, and Kareem
was told by the Chiefs organization, look, you gotta start,
(01:27:42):
you gotta start changing your life, you gotta start hanging
out with better people. And he did, but he wasn't
forthright and what it was that he told them, and
the Chiefs just realized at that point, we can't trust you.
I don't think it was even an issue quite honestly,
of him hitting this woman. I think it was really
more of an issue of of we can't trust you.
You lied to us. We wouldn't have been happy to
(01:28:02):
know what was on that video, but you know what
we I really believe because he's such a talented player,
they would have stood by him. But instead, no, he
didn't put himself in that position. He embarrassed the franchise,
put them in a corner, and they said, forget it,
you're gone. Yeah. That's a bit of a problem I
have with the optics of their statement, Alex is that
they don't really address the incident itself, just oh, he
(01:28:22):
lied to us. I think just curious that that's answer
to right, right, No, But that's just did, right, is
that's that's now become the standard. But now we go
here the NFL, you mentioned Josh Brown, they haven't exactly
been consistent on any of these cases going forward. So
what do you expect. Well, that's the whole problem with
the NFL. And you know, transparency with a lot of this,
(01:28:45):
you know, you want to you want to see things transparently, right,
you want to think that. Okay, like the NFL, and
they released the Mueller Report. This Mueller guy, he'sn't been
in the headlines lately, but back before he was working
for the government, you know, But but he did the
report with Richie incognito, you know, the deflate gates. I mean,
you just sort of want to see comprehensively, what is
it that led to this decision? Why is it that
(01:29:05):
you made this this choice to do this sort of thing.
So will we get that with Kareem Hunt is what
I'm curious about as well. Will there ultimately be this
this widespread and investigation and now the NFL is another
matter on their hands. Even though and this according to
Joe Corey of CBS Sports, former agent, he's a fantastic
cap guy, he says, And you know, we had texted
him tonight on my radio show and he said, look, um, yeah,
(01:29:28):
any team can claim him Kareem Hunt. And you know
someone is because he's playing under a rookie contract. It's
one of the best running backs in football. He's gonna
have a new home. And just like with the Reuben
Foster situation, only this one's gonna resonate even worse. When
this guy ends up with a new team on Monday,
which I'm again I'm assuming will happen. That would be
the day the teams could put in waiver claims. I mean,
the NFL is gonna have egg all over its face.
(01:29:50):
They've got a hope that players can't you know, the
teams don't claim him, but you cannot collude against this player,
you know, without running into some real problems with the
NFL Players Association. So you know, I think he will
be claimed. And I think again, you know that, Yeah,
I do really think. I think that after what happened
with Ruben Foster, seeing one team out there and how
bad it was, I can't see a team claiming him,
(01:30:11):
you know, I can't. Totally can't. I totally can't. Yeah,
because you know what they're gonna say that will investigate this.
But you know what, he was defending himself. Listen. Teams
talked themselves into this stuff all the time. I mean,
Ruben Foster. See, this was the thing that was so
messed up for the Washington Redskins. Ruben Foster isn't all
that great a player, you know, and I hate to
say it, like looking at it like this, but if
(01:30:32):
you're going to go out there on a limb, you know,
and sign somebody like this, you know this is this
is a guy who is the NFL rushing leader, who
is a young athlete in the prime of his career,
who doesn't really have anything else. Negative teams are gonna
have to pursue that and take a look at okay,
how you know, do all the background check and try
to be due diligence. But I really believe he's gonna
end up getting claimed because he's just that talented a
(01:30:53):
player with the intentive play in ten You maybe even
be suspended for you know, five or six games or
not five or six, but you know, the the maximum
that you can do on the sort of thing under
the personal comic policy is basically six games. We consider
the fact that this guy is gonna sit out the
final five games of the season for the Kansas City Chiefs.
And you know he's released now. But let's say he's
he serves five games this season, then one game to
(01:31:15):
open the season next year. He's eligible to play in
Week two. And you've got one of the best running
backs in football on your team on a rookie contract.
You think teams are gonna be able to resist that.
Look at slow hanging fruit is the NFL. This is
what teams do. He'll change for us. It doesn't matter.
And you know what, there are some fans who don't
care either, quite honestly too. Seven grand Uh the current
going right? Um that rookie deal? Um Box Sports Radio
(01:31:38):
Jason Smiths Show with Mike Carmen Company from the Geico
Studios on the hotline with us, Here's XM, NFL radio
host NFL Insider, our buddy Alex Marvez. At Alex Marvez,
so'll take me on the field, Spencer ware steps in.
How much does this pulled them back to the pack
in the oh? It does? I mean, Look, nobody's nobody's
game planning for Spencer were right? I mean, and you
(01:31:58):
know you could hope, look and can C. J. Anderson,
Would you make a call on him, see if there's
anything left in that tank and look around to some
of the you know, Tomato can running backs that we
have left out there. But gosh, I mean Spencer were
I mean, look, he was. He was a stop gap
measure to start a couple of years ago when Jamal
Charles went down. But it's just he's okay, but he
doesn't change defense. It's Kareem Hunt was someone you had
(01:32:21):
to account for. I mean, this was, you know, a
guy who legitimately rush for a hundred yards a game
against basically anybody in the league. It's it's a huge
blow to the Kansas City Chiefs. You know, there's some
thought that maybe this galvanizes this team and you know,
causes them to circle the wagon, so to speak, become
even closer together. I don't buy that. I just think
this is a massive blow to a team that just
you know, that loses one of their best players and
(01:32:42):
you know, and now you know too, I will say this,
at least it's out of the way for them in
this In this sense, unlike in Washington, were fifty two
players now or fifty three actually, since the guys are
on the active roster. But they all have to answer
questions about Ruben Foster to their friends, to their family,
to the media, etcetera. You know, I mean that no
one has to do that anymore with Kareem Hunt. After
one or two more days, that'll be it. It'll be
(01:33:04):
a story after the Oakland Raiders game and they'll move
on as a team. So there is that, But no,
this is this is a significant blow to the Kansas
City Chiefs. We gotta see if the Chargers are gonna rally,
are they gonna be good enough to press them in
the division. But with the Chiefs, we were talking Super
Bowl a couple of weeks ago. I'm not putting him
in that same category anymore. Now, to get a little
longer view on this, now, does this suddenly turn Kansas
City into a possible destination for Lady on Bell after
(01:33:27):
this year? The Chiefs just don't have the money. I
don't think you know what I mean there. But they
have a lot of guys they could let go. They
have a lot of guys last year they can say okay,
done done done to make room for Levy on Bell. Well,
Eric Barry would be one of them. I mean Justin
Houston could be on the on the road to them.
But you know, with Lady On Bell, and this is
curious too, I mean, what are we getting. I mean,
we're talking about a great player with levy On Bell.
(01:33:49):
But what I worry about with Levy On Bell is, Okay,
if he's you know, let's say we're two years into
this contract, is he going to start to complain again
about the fact that he's not being paid enough that
he wants to renegotiate his el I just don't see
Levy On Bell as being viable for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Remember they You know, when you look at Andy Reid
in his history, I don't think there's been a huge
investment in the running back position. It's been a lot
(01:34:10):
of piecemeal type running backs. And that's no slight on
Brian Westbrook, who remember he was a mid to I
think it was a mid round pick. I think it's
a fifth rounder out of Villanova. So, I mean, you know,
you think about the best running backs he's had, and
a lot of times these are either reclamation projects or
just guys that he's been able to find. I think
that philosophy is going to continue when it comes to
Levy on Bell. All right, let's the last one from me, Alex.
(01:34:30):
Sunday Night football now has even more eyes on it
as the Chargers and the Steelers want to come up
and claim that spot from the the Chiefs. A little
bit of infighting with Ben Roethlisberger. How you see this one? Yeah?
I know, Ben, you know, listen, the Steelers love that
drama though, and and Ben Ben wants to win Man
and he's upset, you know, James Washington. That was a
(01:34:51):
big loss, you know that that he had. I mean,
you know, look for the Chargers. The absence of Melvin Gordon,
to me is huge. Although Austin Ekeler tell you what,
this guy is interesting. Man, He's actually tied of the
NFL lead in yards after contact at two point seven
yards after he's hit. He does not go down easy.
But he's one of these lessest, more type guys. I
just think that the Chargers at this point they become
(01:35:11):
a little bit more one dimensional, which I don't think
it's a good thing for them. I mean, as good
as Philip Rivers is playing, but I think that as
a significant lost Pittsburgh at home is ridiculous. I mean,
I think the Steelers end up winning this game. I
just you know, and again though, the Chargers, they gotta
earn my trust back, you know what I mean, they
break your heart too many times. You gotta win these
types of games. This is a big one Sunday night though.
It should be a great matchup. You can fall them
(01:35:32):
on Twitter at Alex Marvez. That's at Alex Marvez serious
x m NFL Insider a m as always appreciate it.
We'll talk to you soon about no problem New New
York Jets running back if they pay him five dollars
more than anybody else, he's signing, Hey, yeah, thanks, Alex.
I really that's amazing. He thinks that someone's going to
claim said, hey, maybe the Jets. I don't. I can't
(01:35:57):
see that. I just can't see it. I can't I
get the whole thing. But you had one team claim
Reuben Foster. I get out talented Kareem hunt is, but man,
I can't see a team claiming him right after this,
seeing the blowback with Reuben Foster. The guy was arrested
three days ago and they said, yeah, we'll claim you.
I just can't see it. You know what, though, on
(01:36:17):
some level, when you look at what the Washington blowback was.
Didn't it become more about the message that Doug Williams
was putting out there. Yeah, they were, but it was defiant.
But then he just really did a terrible job of
explaining how they came to their decisions and consensus. Again,
I'm justified the guys shouldn't be in football, and neither
(01:36:39):
should should Kareem Hunt after this. I mean, you certainly,
we we talked about this a lot, but you know,
teams are gonna in place a claim. But I think
a lot of the blowback for the Redskins came after
the fact. It was a lot of you know, shaking
heads and scratching your heads, going wow, they made a claim.
And then, as I explained the other day, Niel Snyder
(01:37:00):
doesn't care about public opinion. He didn't care, so he
moves on. But now we we look at an eagerly
await Monday Monday to see how this league shakes shakes
out Twitter at how about a Fresca Mike at Swollen
Dome The Jason Smith Show with my bass friend Mike
Harmon coming up next. Something happened in the Pack twelfth
championship game after it ended you just have to hear.
(01:37:22):
That's next on Fox Fox Sports Radio. You know, man,
we we got to see Leo attacked by that bear. Yeah,
Baton came over and helped him. Yeah. Watching Revenant, we
got Napoleon Dynamite Night NBA Action. We'll love more on
the Kareem Hunt situation coming up in a few minutes, because,
(01:37:43):
believe it or not, Dez Bryant has involved himself in this.
And this is why I say des Bryant needs people
around him telling him what to do. To be fair,
this is an old Dez Bryant take that easy brought
attention to him by it's you know, it's something that
you have to worry about with it. But he needs
(01:38:05):
more people be able to tweet stuff. But we'll get
to that coming up in a bit. We have a
lot of stuff on Kareem Hunt to get to. But
tonight was the Pack twelve championship game. Yes it was.
It was fantastic Washington win. One of the most exciting
and thrilling games you could ever possibly see. What a
defensive Donnie Brooks, I mean throwing blows ten to three.
(01:38:27):
Washington beats Utah and one and a half at one
point to start at the start of the third quarter,
but certainly not not what the Pack twelve had mine.
The only touchdown was on a pick six. Yeah right,
So just so we know that that's that's what happened.
The only thing you had that and you had winning
(01:38:50):
ham going after the officials after an obvious pass interference
called to end the game was called. Didn't call it
ran through his receiver, no call. This was a game
that was seen by dozens of fans live at Levi Stadium. Seriously,
you look at the video from the middle of the
third quarter in this game, and it looks like there's
maybe a thousand fans in the stands. Maybe there were
(01:39:13):
no wide cry chat wide crowd shots. It looked like
you would have looked like it looked like when they
opened an NFL stadium the morning of a game, right
the gates open, whatever, and like what it would look
like two and a half hours before a game, and
you're proud of your spot in the press box, Hey
looking down on what's gonna be fantastic. That's what it
(01:39:38):
looked like. Middle of the game, Hey, announced crowd, Do
you have any idea what they tried to pass off
as the crowd of this game Jason Smith. Well, you
see that would be tickets sold, right, Uh, eight thousand,
double it five too. Wow, that's they tried to contend.
(01:40:02):
Not no, but that's just it, right. You had nothing
other than all right, Washington's gonna go to the roads.
That's great, fantastic. I mean, there there's some guys, there's
some good stories, there's some good players, and and congratulations
to them. Don't want to take away from their moment,
but from a larger perspective of hey, I need to
(01:40:23):
go travel to this game. Are you traveling to that?
Are you traveling the road? It's not like, you know,
Washington State had that outside shot, had they won the
Apple Cup and then take care of business here of
still being invited and being part of the playoffs now
would have taken a lot to get there. We saw
the permutation cards and graphics people were really working to
(01:40:45):
figure out how big a funt they had to use
to fit it all in. But the fact of the
matter is you would have had a team potentially vying
for a championship. Instead, it's all right, here's a couple
of teams getting after it on a Friday night, but
maybe the best as part of this game happened after
it was over because our friend Petros Papadakis, part of
(01:41:06):
the broadcast crew who did the game tonight for Washington
wins and they're going to the Rose Bowl. So Petros
is introducing PAC twelve Commissioner Larry Scott. And like I said,
there's like three dozen fans at the game. Listen to
what happens when Petros introduces the commissioner Team PAC twelve
(01:41:29):
Championship Trophy, Ladies and gentlemen, the Commissioner of the PAC
twelve Larry Scott. It's been an incredible PAC twelve season.
Congratulations to the Huskies and the utes are not only
great seasons, but a terrific football championship game. Yeah, hey,
(01:41:50):
all of a sudden boom, Yeah, and play time to
the commissioner who wasn't who was more lustily boot for
Larry Scott. They kind of sounded the same once they
actually start. Yeah, but Btman was in like an enclosed room,
you know, boot an open air stadium at Levi's Air Point.
(01:42:13):
But I mean you would think, you know, the commission
of the pact woul look and I get it. Many
schools were unhappy with him and unhappy with his director
cutting programs because of the miscalculation and the bead work
they've done with the Pack twelveth network. Hey, sorry, we
kind of misappropriated money. We were gonna make budget shortfall.
You need to cut baseball and uh soccer and both
(01:42:36):
men's and women. Sorry this is anymore. Yeah, this is
like when Homer was cutting guys off the football team
and you're cut your cut you you and you oh
yeah you too. I mean, if if you imagine there
was actually people there, what that doing would sound like
with Larry Scott gets introduced and here it is just amazing. Really, man,
watch this game. I mean for defensive purpose of bolt
(01:42:58):
defenses balled out. That was great, But you had two
real impact plays in the game. The touchdown by the defense,
uh and then a block kick that and then the
past interference that wasn't because winningham got on the field
and started threatening the officials. So that was fun. Do
you think they were booing petros Let's listen one more time.
Maybe they were doing petrols. Let's hear it again. Team
(01:43:20):
Pack twelve Championship Trophy, Ladies and gentlemen. The Commissioner of
the Pack twelve Larry Scott that that boom comes in
well after and and he's he'll wear it. You know,
Petros would be the first to tell you, and he'd
go all hold Hogan with his hands. He's got big hands.
He'd be doing that cup to the ear saying yeah,
(01:43:42):
boom e. He'd he'd own that. No, No, that was
all for Larry Scott. Congratulations, Mr Commissioner. Wow, that was
the next levelsion ladies and gentlemen to hand over the
trophy to the Washington Huskies. You are packed twelve champions.
Here's Larry Scott look and the way Petros introduces him
(01:44:04):
to like he's a big w W introduction and now
a man who needs no introduction. But I'm gonna say
it anyway. He's someone you know, carries the ashes of
his fallen competitors and he earned it's the undertaker. I
mean Petro's doesn't just say whoa WHOA isn't say I
mean you're gonna go on that way too, I guess,
(01:44:27):
But I mean Petro's doesn't just say it's Commissioner left.
He says it's Commissioner Larry Scott, Like, oh, he's popped
off the team. Pack twelve Championship Trophy, ladies and gentlemen,
the commissioner of the Pack twelve, Larry Scott. That's like
an inc that's our guy. That's Petros, that's Clashic, that's
(01:44:49):
Petros and Money. Introducing a guest on a M five
seventy l A Sports here in Los Angeles, everybody gets
a big opening, a big welcome. Just I don't know
that they get booed the way that Larry Scott was
in that moment right there. Maybe in people in their
cars driving around Los Angeles aren't happy with the guests
they bring on. But that's the one thing you can
(01:45:11):
always count on from Petros since the day I first
heard him, day I met him here in Los Angeles.
He will give you an introduction, he will give you
your resume. He is Gene Okerlin, Howard Finkel, Gordon solely
wrapped into one man. That's just insane. And that's what
you get. Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show, It
(01:45:32):
My Garben live from the Geico Studios. I will love
more this. We gotta get to about having conference championship
games moved from neutral sights. After what we saw tonight,
we got that, But coming up next We'll get to
the future of Kareem Hunt following his release from the Chiefs.
Earlier today, Alex Marvez, neth Ol insider says, yeah, Kareem
Hunt will be claimed by a team by Monday. He
(01:45:54):
really though. We'll get to that in a minute, but
first find out what's trending with Deep Carson d see
Hey the big story a night of course, the Kansas
City Chiefs releasing running back Kareem Hunt after the release
of that video showing Hunt shoving and kicking a woman
during a scuffle in February at the Cleveland Hotel. Chief's
issue a statement saying that during their investigation into the
issue back then, quote Kareem was not truthful in those discussions.
(01:46:17):
The video released today confirms that fact. We are releasing
Kareem immediately. NBA after trailing most of the game, then
Lakers now lead the Mavericks night four, nine oh three
to go fourth quarter there at Staples Center, and Nuggets
with the ninet lead at Portland's eight to go in
the fourth quarter. And you need to make good choices.
(01:46:37):
And with true car you've got a star on your roster.

the Rose Bowl after beating Utah ten three in the
Pack twelve Championship games and to bring it full circle,
last night, of course, also a defensive bout between the
(01:46:59):
Saint and the Cowboys, and according to Sports Business Journal,
that game on Fox pulled in a fourteen point six
overnight rating, the highest ever for Thursday night football. Guys,
thank you d C. You're welcome. We're lying in the

(01:47:21):
So with Kareem Hunt being released by the Kansas City Chiefs,
the NFL is going to have an investigation and he
will likely be suspended. Alex Marvett said, oh yeah, team
will claim him by Monday. Because he's that young, he's
that talented. I agree with that part of it, but
that's why I don't think his NFL career is over,
rather than it's going to continue on Monday. He is
(01:47:43):
nuclear right now. This video is terrible. You know, the
Ruben Foster. There was no video for us to see
you know it was a story. He was arrested on
Saturday night, and the fact that Redskins claimed him was
enough was Oh my god, are you kidding me? But
this is different because this is you see him. You
see Kareem Hunt hit this woman. You see him go
(01:48:04):
after her again and push one of his into her,
knox her completely over. You see him kick at her.
And I understand that she hits him after he pushes her,
But this is still laying your hands on a woman.
There's a way to walk to to get out of
this and walk away, and he doesn't do it. This
is a bad video. This is ray Rice all over again.
(01:48:25):
You know, this is Joe Mixon all over again. And
I can't see a team saying we're gonna go through
whatever it is because we're gonna claim him. We're gonna
we'll take whatever, because this kid is that talented. Is
his career over No, Because what I will see teams,
I think to themselves, is all right, he's gonna go.
He's gonna be on the exempt list for a while,
(01:48:45):
and who knows how long he's gonna be suspended for
and when he comes back, well, let's see, it'll be
a few months. Later he'll have gone through some kind
of character rehabilitation and the story won't be as white
hot as it is a nuclear as it is right now,
and they'll justify it, and I mean, I disagree with it,
but they'll justify it by saying this wasn't really Ray
(01:49:08):
Rice or Joe Mixon. This wasn't He didn't punch her
in the head knock her down. He kind of pushed her.
Then she pushed him back. He didn't really push her.
He pushed someone went into him. He didn't really roundhouse kicker.
He kind of kicked at her. So I can see
NFL team saying, you know, this video is not as
bad as it which is ridiculous. But I'm telling you
(01:49:30):
what what people are what teams are gonna say, So
it's not that bad. We can we can live with
with this with Kareem Hunt because it's been a little
bit of time, and then someone will sign him as
it gets into the spring, and he still is twenty
four years old, one of the best running backs in
the game. It will continue for him and he'll play
sometime in I can't see him being spended for the
(01:49:52):
whole season of Joe Mixon was allowed to play in
the NFL, right, Ray Rice was done with his career
because it was the first video, like this first video
of the career, and you could argue that he was
on the decline and wasn't going to be the bell
cow running back. And again the fact that you have
to put it in those terms of well, he probably
(01:50:13):
wasn't a star anymore, and that's why it became a
more severe punishment. And I hope it's not the case
where we're getting desensitized to it or here's another video.
But when I say it was the first video, it
was shocking to us to see it and we had
we didn't know what was going on. Then we saw
it's like, oh my god, are you kidding me? Well,
and now we've seen a few of those and it's
you know, but at the same time, I can see
(01:50:34):
NFL teams go, well, this wasn't as bad as the other,
but it was the first one and he was on
the decline, So it's really is he worth bringing in?
And it worth bringing in? And for the Ray Rice
part of things, when we were on air and and
talking about it, it was also the NFL trying to
figure out this new world, right, because for years tag
Leeboo didn't do any of that, and Roger Goodell started
(01:50:56):
to become the stronghanded commissioner. But going into these types
of cases that was a whole other world and trying
to get that quote right and trying to get policy
in place, and even now, how many of these cases
have come by where you have no idea. It's like
they're spinning a wheel in terms of what the punishment
(01:51:17):
is supposed to be right by letter of what was
put into the c b A, and the player conduct
was supposed to be six games. Yet you're seeing here's
Josh Brown for one, there's another guy for two, here's
you know, just kind of all over the board, and
Ezekiel Elliott, when you get down to it, there were
no no videos or anything. He got six. So now
(01:51:37):
you you look at this with Kareem Hunt, and you know,
there's certainly been enough I've seen in my timeline litterly
responding to reporters notes of how bad was this really? Like,
what do you mean? How bad? Was there really? Morally bankrupt?
And you really need to go look in the mirror
(01:51:58):
and re examine your life for a minute. And again
I always say you wonder why women won't come forward
when things happen, you wonder why when this is the
reaction that you see from a good amount of people,
you wonder why women won't come forward? And you see this,
and it should answer your question for you because it's
still the way it is. Incredibly, it's still the way
it is. And the claims probably multiple teams come Monday though,
(01:52:23):
as they really just can't see. What you can do
is your had Washington take as long as you have
a more consistent message of hey, more pending investigation and
what the league's gonna do punishment wise, right, and we'll
meet out whatever that measure is. There's gonna be a
team that does it. They're gonna be multiple teams that
do it. He's he's owed what seven thousand dollars under
(01:52:47):
that rookie deal. It's so business of the NFL. I get,
but it's it's so much to deal with, it's so
much to bring in. I mean, it's not going to
be a team that's gonna win a champion. There's gonna
be a bottom feeder team. But it's so much activity,
it's so much other stuff to bring in. I can't
see a team doing it by Monday. Yeah, I'd like
(01:53:07):
to think that there's a moratorium, that there's a hey,
we we need to really examine this. I just think
the business of finding elite athletes and winning and pleasing
your shareholders that is your fans. Uh that that Trump's it?
Twitter at how about a fresca? Mike gets swollen done?

The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Carmen.
Coming up next. Dez Bryant has weighed in on the
Kareem Hunt controversy, and again I'll tell you he needs
more people around him giving him advice than he has
right now. That's next Fox. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon weekdays
(01:53:51):
at ten pm Eastern seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the I Heart Radio app. What Christmas Movie? Famer?
Christmas Action movie? Does this song? Close? Night Mare? On Christmas?
Before Christmas? No? I said, there's action. There's a lot
(01:54:13):
of action. And when they kidnapped the Sandy spoiler lead
a lap filling in for Justin Frostburg tonight, he's got
the answer, Gohadly, what do he got? Best Christmas Movie
of all time? Die hard? Oh? It's up there. Reindeer games.
It's up there. Not reindeer games. No, not even come on,
really reindeer games. You're insane. If you are absolutely insane,
(01:54:38):
he's Batman also insane, potentially. No no, no, no, no, no,
no no no, my guy man, way to go to shirt.
Des Bryant has decided to weigh in on the Kareem
Hunt situation. Yes he has. And what do I say
about des Bryant? All the time he needs around him
(01:54:59):
giving him better advice. Now, I'm not going to sign
that three year, twenty one million dollar deal with the
ravens Now dude, you should sign that. Uh. He decided
to tweet out in support or put on Instagram a
post in support of Kareem Hunt, who was released by
the Chiefs today after video shows of him attacking a
woman outside his apartment in a hotel earlier this year.
(01:55:22):
He pushes the woman, she swings back at him. He
goes at her again and rams into a friend of his,
who knocks into the girl. That knocks her completely over,
and he kicks at her. Dez Bryant put this on
Instagram before he took it down. I advise all the
future young stars this, stay your course. Just because your
(01:55:43):
money gets better, It doesn't mean the prettier woman is better.
Protect yourself because it will only be one side of
the story. If you ever get into some blank, save
the explanation by knowing what you are after in life.
Nobody is perfect. Team Kareem. It's really nice that he
wants to put out a statement of support of a
guy who was released by the NFL for committing domestic violence.
(01:56:07):
That's that's always awesome. He then followed up. But then
he then he deleted the tweet. But what the post?
But once it goes up there, people get you know,
that's it. It's screen grabbed immediately. So now he decided
to go on Twitter to explain what he said. Well,
he was still on Instagram for a little while there. Yeah,
still on Instagram, but then this tweet was thirty five
minutes ago. I made it clear I don't support domestic violence. Okay,
(01:56:31):
I believe we should make this issue bigger than the
video that's being surfaced around. Being provoked is a big issue,
especially for stars. If we don't learn to help and
support others, it stays a cycle. So I don't support
domestic violence. But hey, when stars are provoked. You know,
we we gotta, we gotta make sure that this is
something that people understand what's going on. Oh so, I'm
(01:56:54):
glad you're telling me the situations that it's okay to
hit a woman. So you're basically saying this is when
if you're choked, then it's okay. Oh my god, dude,
he pushed her first. That's why she swung at him.
That's the video we've seen. And you really, you really
want to want to stand on this hill of hey,
you know what, when you're provoked. Oh so tell me
(01:57:15):
the situations and it's okay to hit a woman in
that's great. Well, he went deeper into his Instagram accounts, saying, yeah,
it sucks to have a video surface like that, but
I care to know what provoked him. Keeps going and
say it doesn't matter. It's suter a some claim a
mass shooter had mental ill problems for his reasons. To some,
it becomes a non issue after all the facts were gathered,
no problem. I care to know what's deeper than this
(01:57:36):
video being surfaced around. I support you. Please don't be
simple minded, because I never said I support domestic violence,
And so then you have a litany of tweets that
have gone through, including one, uh just six minutes ago,
where he summarized quote, I'm sorry if I bothered all
the perfect people in the world. Clearly I wasn't trying
(01:57:57):
to do that crying laughing emoji. I done talking about
that now. I'm trying to level up my player on
two K nineteen right now. That Dez Bryant he needs
Oh this is a guy who, when he came out
of college should have said, Hey, I need someone who's
gonna take care of me, and there should have been
professional people saying, you know what, does I'll do it
for you for a while. Wasn't that what the cowboys
(01:58:17):
were doing? Didn't they have people with him? Not enough.
He couldn't even go into a mall without getting in trouble.
I couldn't walk into a mall without getting in trouble.
Not into a mall. This is true. He couldn't. He
couldn't go to Michael's without getting in trouble. He couldn't
go to the Disney Store, he couldn't go to Crazy Eights.
(01:58:38):
The less the summary statement is always it is never
okay and should never be mitigated, condoned however, whatever term
you want to use as to why you would put
your hands on a woman. And even even in the
original right and people were like, well, the original was
(01:58:59):
just kind of a shove off whatever, right with the
friend in the way, then they have a kick. Then
you still have a kick. You could try to explain
away all of these things and do it so terribly
and you still have a kick. There's no and people
are trying to to minimize this and push it aside
(01:59:20):
and say, well, you know what, she went after him.
It's no, that's never acceptable and that's never a statement
and an answer that should pass the lips or the
synapses to fire to get you to that thought. Because
if there's I want to know what led to this,
what led to what led to it, What you saw,
(01:59:40):
what led to it? You saw, you saw what there
was in an There was an argument and he didn't
go back inside his apartment. Outside he came out and
pushed her, and then she swung at him, which she did,
but he pushed her first, and then they tried to
separate and he couldn't, and he runs at her and
runs into his friend, who knocks her. All kinds of craze,
easy over, I des Bryant, you just need to not
(02:00:03):
press send. He's his own worst enemy. I mean it
used to be just hey, I'm torpedoing my own career,
but now it's like, dude, yeah, yeah, you what people
think of you? I mean, really, this is this is
insane that he decides that I'm gonna basically imply that, well,
if something happens, it's okay to hit a woman. Shouldn't
have a knife, shouldn't have a gun, shouldn't have anything. No, no,
(02:00:24):
none of that. I didn't have any of that. It's
just standing outside. Well, and then he adds the the
whole hey you're young stars. Wow, gotta watch people, watch out,
gotta watch I gotta watch out. And if it's something
like this, then maybe it's okay to hit a woman. Wow.
Des Bryant is special man. Twitter At how about a

this hour on the show. We got big stuff from
the Pack twelve Championship game, despite the fact thirty six
people went to see it, and those are thirty six
people that went home with a hard fought nick grey
or defeat. And you've got people spilling into bars around
the Greater Santa Clara area saying let's go with our guys,
softy leading to charge. And we have more on the
(02:01:28):
Kareem Hunt controversy. You'll hear from Evan Rosenbloom, TMZ executive
producer TMZ putting the video out today they obtained showing
Kareem Hunt attacking a woman just outside of the front
door of his apartment in the hotel he lives. In
that video published today. Kareem Hunt was put on the
exempt list by the NFL and then was released by
(02:01:49):
the Kansas City Chiefs. So we have a lot to
get to there. But of course, the biggest story in
the world right now, which is something you're gonna see
play out over the weekend. President George Bush has passed
away at the age of ninety four. Bush forty one, Uh,
father of George Bush. He has been in ill health
for a long time, and I remember all the video
(02:02:10):
and times we have seen him in the past few months.
He was in a wheelchair, and he passed away earlier
tonight at the age of ninety four. And the thing,
you know, the Bush family has been so ingrained in baseball,
uh for really the past like seventy years. You know,
George Bush was a baseball player at Yale and and
then George Bush owned the Texas Rangers. So really baseball
(02:02:30):
in the Bush family. You know, you're going all the
way back to the nineteen Well, it's always been. I've
been collecting trading cards since I was well what five,
When you'd get a quarter and you'll be able to
go buy a stack of packs. That's how cheap it
was back in the day. But they always would have
these random insert sets, and you know, George Bush in
the Yale uniform became an iconic baseball card photo and
(02:02:52):
eventually he would lend his signature to a bunch of
insert sets. Great photos of him and Babe Ruth before
his passing, UH, thick sure at astros and and Texans games,
a lot of the former Texans friend of the show,
Chester Pitts showing a picture, you know, shaking his hands
and and having had conversations and one of the notes
(02:03:13):
that came out earlier this past week, just this past week,
a long multi hour conversation and hang with former President
Barack Obama because the two of them had been long
friendly and so he welcomed him to his home and
the two sat and exchanged stories. So up until those bottles,
(02:03:33):
Barack Obama as well, you know, around a lot of
sporting events. Uh couldn't name a white Sox guy player
was But that's okay, Uh, in the in the moment,
you know, it's always baseball has always been a big
part in all of the presidency, and and that's being
asked to throw out first pitches. But certainly for the
Bush family sporting events, they were very prominent, uh in
(02:03:56):
the while, all taxes events, but certainly the Houston area.
You know, in the funny thing about George Bush, about
Bush forty one, is that you think back and I'm
just going a little broader here about the fame of
his presidency because he's president for a term. You know,
he won an eighty eight. You know, Reagan was the president,
and then Bush one, and then Bill Clinton came in
and he won it in the night election in ninety two.
(02:04:17):
But for the longest time, Saturday Night Live always tried
to skewer political pundits and presidents and different people. But
even though, you know, because at first, starting the seventies,
you had Nixon, you had Watergate, and he was really
the only one. The whole lampooning of the president and
turning the president into something that was pop culture and
(02:04:40):
and really to give the presidency more relevancy to anybody
really came in the late eighties early nineties when Dana
Carvey would do his George Bush impression on SNL. Because
you had other and maybe I'm missing somebody who did
a great one, but that was really the first of
the great Oh my god, he's incredible. Well, he had
the Chevy Chase Gerald Ford because they had well, because
they had to explained away that Caryl Ford was actually
(02:05:02):
a big time athlete, football player and not the bumbling,
clumsy no that Chase made him out. But cha Chase
didn't really didn't really embody him, and it was hilarious.
And George Bush's presidency got the point where you were
tuning in every Saturday, going what has he got? What
(02:05:24):
does he got? On George Bush? What does he got?
And then it goes from there. You had uh Darryl
Hammond with Bill Clinton, and and that went into you
went into Fred Armonston and Obama. But even that, all
of that was lighthearted though, right right, I mean just
tone and tenor so much of departure. We had thousand
points of light No New Texas now not not not
(02:05:47):
gonna do it. I mean, that was the first of
it was like I gotta see what he does. I
gotta see what what's he gonna do with George Bush
this weekend? What what's he gonna what? I mean, it
was incredible the amount of attention that was on that,
and from there really was like the modern era of
lampooning presidents and lampooning people in power because of that
successful impression. Because before I think back and then, you know,
(02:06:08):
did anybody really do a great Ronald Reagan? You know
it was was it that much big? No? It wasn't
really anybody really do a great Jimmy Carter. You know.
Then you'll be back to Ford who was president for
two years, you know, and before that was Nixon, which
you had a little bit of the I am not
a crook and but that you're talking about. Then like
fifteen twenty years almost go by Jimmy Carter and like
(02:06:29):
Caesar Romeo and Batman refused to shave his mustache, so
they had this really bad makeup job certainly there. Um,
I still remember when they did the uh when um
he had to win the nomination over Michael ducak was
at Michael Dukakis, whoever it was he had to win
the nomination over, and um, he was winning in the
polls and Dana Carvey's doing the impression at the and
(02:06:51):
it was him and John Lovitt's and Dana Carvey's doing
so uh, Mr Bush, Vice President push, can you please
sum up what you are uh talking about your platform?
You said that thousand points of light, no new taxes,
that thousand points of light America. And then they then
they went to John Levitt and he goes, I can't
believe I'm losing to this guy every single week. It
(02:07:15):
was just insane how funny it was. And Danaka really
was that was in it. And you know what, and
Bush laughed about it, and it was, you know, a thing.
It was, and then you got, like I said, you
got into the eras after that and that really you know,
he was like like a rock star president almost because
of that. Well, one of the first things for for
Carve a big deal. Obviously, Wayne's world and everything flows
out of that. You had Phil Hartman did Reagan for
(02:07:38):
a number of years as well. Yeah, but I was
that was just okay. There's only a few years, but
that was just okay. Yeah, I did get the job.
But it's one of the early things. But certainly as
you go away from it in his later years, you know, revered.
Uh and you know, history tells the tale some twenty
thirty years after the fact. In the in the moment,
everybody swings on the pen. You'll particularly in this gage
(02:08:01):
day and age of twenty four hour news cycles. But
you know those SNL classics. I'm sure we'll be resurrected
here over the next few hours. Again. Uh, George Herbert
Walker Bush passed away tonight at the age of nine. Meanwhile,
before you get back into Kareem Hunt, we had the
Pack twelveth championship game. Yeah, we did if you like
(02:08:23):
no scoring and betting the under Tonight was your game
ten three Washington beats Utah. And again I'll say to you, oh,
you know, and I don't like fifty one rams and
the cheese. Give me the defensive struggle. Yeah, really that
game was terrible tonight. But we saw it Levi Stadium.
There was maybe what a thousand people there? I mean not,
(02:08:45):
I mean there was no shots of the white shots
of the crowd. That maybe a thousand, maybe two thousand. Yeah,
it's tough to gage. There were a couple of pockets
here and there, and it's hard to gauge, but certainly
not the thirty five thousand wasn't even hot. Wasn't even
a fifty fifty degrees. So you know, one of those
nights where you get rope adoped in the Greater in
(02:09:05):
San Francisco Bay area where you're like, oh, it's a
beautiful day, and then all of a sudden you're suckered
into buying a forty dollar sweatshirt because suddenly it got cold.
That's that was one of those kind of nights where
you found a random vendor gun. I don't want to
do it. May my father in law many years ago,
came to visit, living in Northern California, and we went
up and we went to uh an A's White Sox game, right, Yeah,
(02:09:26):
who gives me some some cool tickets and we go
and he gets cold. He buys into Oakland A's sweatshirt.
He wore that thing religiously. He's like, he was like, yeah,
I'm getting my use out of this. I was never
more proud. That thing was ratty falling apart. And he's like, nope,
I paid good money for it. I'm wearing it. When
I went to San Francisco a couple of times. The
(02:09:48):
first time I went, I remember going. We went on
a tour, went to Alcatraz everywhere, and our tour guide says,
what do you think is the number one item that
tourists by here in San Francisco? And I'm thinking they
go to alcot As, they get, you know, chocolate, your deli.
I mean, I don't know, you know Rice Erroni the
San Francisco treat, you know, I don't know. No, you
get that on game shows. Here's here's a palette and
(02:10:08):
uh he said, sweatshirts. Yeah, the number one thing most
people and you go on on uh I forget what
Big Street. It is right on the water there. I mean,
every other store is a sweatshirt store. There's sweatshirt, sweatshirt, sweatshirts,
swat go up and down the Embarcadero. That's exactly what
you've got. Hey, which design would you like? But watching
tonight's game and seeing nobody there, I think you have
(02:10:31):
to give up holding your conference championship games in a
neutral site. I get what you're trying to do, but
it's just embarrassing for the most part because there's nothing
at play here. There's yeah, there's a birth in the
Rose Bowl, But am I really going to spend money
go into this game if then well, if they win,
I want to go to the Rose Bowl. Why am
I going to do that when that's what I want
(02:10:52):
to do when I'm off, you know, I'm in I'm
in school, right, whatever it is. I don't know that
you really want to spend money to go to a
game like this, And it's clear that it's a problem
when you have conference championship games at a neutral site,
when you're that far away from where the teams are.
(02:11:13):
You know, like I said, you saw a couple of
thousand people there tonight. It's okay to have the conference
championship game at the home of the higher ranked team
with the better record. It's okay to do that. I know,
it's it seems like it's heresy, but you can do that,
especially when you have situations like tomorrow's Big Ten championship games,
(02:11:33):
sorry buddy, and the a c C title game where
you have two teams that clearly have won more this
year and deserved to be the home team in Ohio
State and Clemson, and still they have to go on
a neutral site and play a crappy team like pit
although they did beat Syracuse and Northwestern who won there's
but they're eight and four, So you have a four
lost team and a one lost team. So the fact
(02:11:54):
that okay, oh and three out of conference carabine this thing.
So no, no, no, it's great. But but the other
games count two, I gets, well, yeah, those other games
county record. So you have you have eleven and one
and eight and four, and you have twelve and oh
and you have eight and four, seven and five, whatever
whatever you have. It's really not fair. I mean, you
(02:12:17):
look the way the NFL doesn't. Nobody complains it. Well,
we don't have a good record, so we have to
go play a playoff game or wherever we're playing at
the home of the other team number and number two,
you're gonna get more people coming to that game. And
even if, let's say Clemson, you make the rule that, hey,
the higher seeded team, higher ranked team gets to host
the game, but you're still splitting the money you make
(02:12:38):
with the other school. Everybody will be okay with that,
because Clemson would be okay with filling their stadium for
the a c C championship game against Pitt, and Pitt
would be okay splitting that money rather than what are
you splitting from the two thousand fans who are at
the game tonight. I really know. I think part of
it comes down to conference to conference, you've got participation
(02:12:58):
and travel. Right in this particular case, you got Northwestern
just up the road. They're sending a ton of busses
of students, uh and everybody. You know they travel well
to bowl games, and this is the first time they've
ever made a championship game, so they're gonna be there.
Ohio State folks are gonna escape Ohio, even if it's
only to get to to Indianapolis. They're still gonna make
the trip. So you're you're looking at conference by conference.
(02:13:22):
You you look at those attendance figures, you look at
that participation. Right And as we talked with Pete Feutech
a little bit earlier in the show, where you get
in trouble is where you have the pack twelve, where
you've got a lot of problems. Right, And we heard
the lusty booze for Larry Scott. Off aren't lusty sometimes
(02:13:43):
you half ascid? No this one. They they're general genuine
hate I think rolling up for for Larry Scott here.
But you have just hard numbers based on you know,
Pete talking about his website, other folks in terms of
trying to get people excited up and down that court
over college football. But because that was the shiny new
(02:14:05):
stadium years ago, that's the deal that gets signed. Curious
if you change venue, you pick some other shiny new toy.
And a lot of people on on Twitter, including our
buddy Todd Firm and raising their hand going Vegas two
years make it there. People will find their way to
go shell out a few bucks to show up to
an event in Vegas, even if they just happened to
(02:14:27):
be in town for another random conference or just cheap flights.
But the fact is you you can, you find a
little bit of a way to get around it. The
fact Well has got so many other issues even before
you get to the attendance problem you have here with
their television network and the ramifications of bad financial guidance
(02:14:48):
and estimates. So Larry Scott were cut out for him,
and he'll remember those boos. We will hear the booth
from I hear them in my head right now. So
I'm trying to really do a good show that those
booze are coming from. When you walk into your house, Hey,
let's talk to Mike Harmon. You act like that doesn't happen.
You know my daughters. That's what they do. That's there
(02:15:11):
here now you have them here. Now. They booed me
as I walked down the hall. We did you tried
to give him pizza and they booed. They booed me?
Is not cheesy enough? Sure, Twitter, right happen? Wow? They
called you really sometimes? Yeah? Okay, wow, really call me worse? Really?
Oh yeah, whoa they learned it from watching you? Okay, wait, no, no,
we gotta we gotta stick with this for a few
(02:15:31):
no's okay, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smiths Show with
Mike Carmon Twitter at how about a fresca? Mike at
swollen dumb, everybody's got it to do? List, drop off
the dry cleaning, pick up some milk. Here's an idea.
Let's add save hundreds of dollars on car insurance. And
the good thing is you don't have to drop off
four pick up anything. All you have to do is
(02:15:51):
go to Geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you
could be saving fifteen more in car insurance, extra money
in your pocket. It just may be the most rewarding
to do you do today. Coming up next, what the
NFL I can't believe they failed to do in the
Kareem hunt investigation. We got Evan Rosenbloom from TMZ Sports
(02:16:12):
as well. All that's next, Keep it right here, Fox,
It is a slide over baby our Fox Sports Radio,
The Jason smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
Hey doing Buddy Tonight's show brought to you by Discover Card.
We treat you like you treat you. Got Evan Rosenbloom
(02:16:35):
from TMZ Sports on the way in a few minutes.
T MZ of course putting out the video today. They
obtained of Kareem Hunt, former Chiefs running back attacking a
woman outside his apartment where he lives in in a
hotel in Cleveland from February. This is a story that
was first reported in February and the NFL talked to
(02:16:56):
Kareem Hunt. The Chiefs talked to Kareem Hunt. He said,
I was in the wrong place the wrong time. There
were no charges filed and it kind of went away. Well,
now that we see the video, it's terrible. Hunt comes
out of his apartment and he shoves this girl who
punches him back. She does hit him back. Then he
can't stay away from her, runs at her, rams into
(02:17:20):
another guy who rams into her and knocks her down.
He kicks at her and this is just a part
of the video that we have seen on TMZ. He
was put on the Commissioner's exemp list and then the
Chiefs released him number one. If he stays on the
exempt list, he can't be claimed by a team. So
I know. We talked to Alex Marvez Eli in the
(02:17:41):
show and he saw a team. I don't think they're
gonna take him off the exemp list. Now that he's
not a you know, not in the NFL, so he'll
stay on the exemp list. But I don't see a
team claiming him he's too nuclear. But the main part
of this story is that it was just a couple
of years ago the NFL read of this situation with
ray Rice, where here is the video of him hitting
(02:18:03):
his wife, and there as well. We tried to get it,
we couldn't, they wouldn't release it, and it was just terrible.
And here it is again the same thing. This video
was part of the evidence that was gathered and it
was a camera in the hallway. There was also bodycam
footage from the police officers who responded on this scene.
(02:18:28):
The NFL says they tried to reach out to get
this video. They made multiple attempts, but they were turned away.
They contacted the hotel and they said we only can
give this to law enforcement. They contacted the Cleveland p
D and they were denied to see it. They also
tried to reach out to the alleged victim and they
couldn't get in touch with her. I understand the part
(02:18:50):
of we couldn't get the video to see it, but
really there's no way you could find out what was
on the video. There's no way you could find that out.
You could get the body cam video. And Evan Roseblum
is gonna tell us this coming up in a few minutes.
You could just freedom of information get the bodycam video
from the police. And he has said, hey, there's enough
evidence on this bodycam video when the police respond to
(02:19:12):
put some kind of discipline in place for Kareem Hunt.
But here's the NFL and the chiefs again half asking
an investigation into what, well, we talked to Kareem Hunt.
I mean the chief said, we talked to Kareem Hunt.
We got the story. The chief said they released him
because he lied to them. If you did any kind
of investigation other than can we get a video? So
we can't. Okay, we're moving on. You're gonna figure out
(02:19:34):
what happened here. But it's again, it's the NFL, and
I can't believe. I always say it's hard to realize
how difficult it is to do the right thing. The
NFL is a big corporation, and corporations usually don't run
around on on moral authority. You know, that's the stuff
they struggle with because they're about business and making money.
And and and pleasing investors and all of this, which
(02:19:55):
is what the NFL tries to do. But you would
think just a couple of years removed from Ray right,
was there's a video, Okay, we gotta see this. It
can't just be oh well, now, there's ways you can
find out what was on it there, But it just
seems like it was another thing that wasn't done well
enough because the fact that this was hushed up and
now TMZ gets it. NFL couldn't get it, but TMZ
gets it. Where the TMZ paid for it or not,
(02:20:17):
tmzs got it well. And that becomes the question, as
we talked with Alex Marvez a little bit earlier in
the show, that becomes the the slippery slope. I guess
in terms of procuring some of these documents and some
of these videos and other things as to what's above board,
what's gray? You know, where where's the shades of gray?
And a lot of this, I mean, could you see
(02:20:38):
the video without turning it over? We're gonna send somebody over.
The question are they from the police side of things
do they have to show it right? And from the
freedom of information and from formal requests as you'll hear
from Evan talking about the the idea that you know,
there's all this footage to be seen, you know, how
(02:21:00):
how much of that if the NFL goes through do
they get this part of the video? Is that? Is that?
Is that part of what was released? And would they
come to the same determination. And as we've seen throughout
the years, even since ray Rice, that's only even since then,
they've been so grossly inconsistent in terms of how they
(02:21:20):
process information, how they rule on stuff once they have it.
But the procurement and the dissemination of information related to
these cases has been nauseating to say the least, and
so inconsistent where you're trying to figure out, you know,
were they really trying to get to an end? Because
that was Roger Goodell's big thing when he came into
into this office, was I'm gonna put teeth into it, right.
(02:21:43):
Paul Tagliabu, you had a bad reputation of how the
league was run in terms of players, Remember Playmakers, Playmakers
that that that show that got squashed by the league,
which more and more of these cases come into lights,
You're like, did they that they have it right? You
had a lot of good sources evidently writing for you
and taking care of business back then. But for Roger Goodell,
(02:22:07):
all the tough talk and all the action, he's been invisible.
We talked about Rob Manford and you know, just pay
some play. You're talking about Bettman, Well, he's just kind
of there, you know. You go through UH and and
Adam Silver he wants he'll do whatever the players want.
But Roger Goodell, who used to be out in front
of all of this and was the face, he's disappeared.
(02:22:28):
He's been neutered in this hole sequence of events over
the last couple of years, right because the NFL was
quote under attack. Now ratings are good. He can't be found.
He's got nowhere to hide here. Eventually, the league's gotta
make a statement, and they've got to make a strong one,
UH in this and really go through the process and
give you an idea and give the fans and their stakeholders,
(02:22:51):
all the fans that pay for PSL s and season
tickets and Sunday ticket packages and everything else. You know,
here's what we're doing to act our game, to protect
the women that are around our game and the people
that we interact with, our fans and those that we
we should be taking better care of. That's what Roger
Goodell needs to come out and do you know. And
(02:23:12):
the thing too, if you want to look at this
from being on the field just for a couple of seconds,
because you know, there is that part of it too.
Whereas where you know, we do sports for living, we
do all that we cover everything. Is that you look
at the situation with the Chiefs and you get away
from the moral part of it is they just lost
one of the best running backs in the NFL. This
was a team that was set to be the clear
(02:23:33):
favorite in the a f C to get to the
Super Bowl and probably win in the next five years.
I would have written them in for at least two
Super Bowls because they were young, fast and talented. Right,
you're not paying Mahomes and he's young. You're not paying
Tyreek Kill he's young. You weren't paying Kareem Hunt. He
was young. All of your starters on the offensive line
are all thirty year younger. Right, Travis Kelsey's twenty nine,
(02:23:55):
but he's got a good another three years, and I
mean you can replace a tight end. They probably would
have won two out of the next five Super Bowls
and now it's well, you take away, Kareem. You can't
just tell me all spencer wear is great, spencer weare
was great, he would be the running back. Spencer wear
is okay, Alex Tonight, no one's game planning for spencer wear.
But Kareem Hunt is a guy. There's a rushing champion.
(02:24:16):
This is a guy who is a phenomenal talent. And
now suddenly on the field, they come back to the
pack a lot in the a f C. And then
their future of the next couple of years, how great
it was good? Now that's all up in the air.
They went from we got an era of dominance coming
to well, what are we gonna do? All in a
span of five hours. That's it the curiosity. And you know,
the other thing is the chiefs don't have to answer
(02:24:37):
for what they knew and what they didn't go through.
We talked about the NFL. We're talking about in at
the team level because their statement was dissatisfying on many
levels as well. We got rid of him because he lied,
but no real accounting for what was on that tape
and what was done in this matter. Right, it's the well,
he didn't tell us the truth when week in front
(02:24:58):
of about it's like, well what about the other what
about the underlying act? What about what you saw on
the tape, instead of well he didn't tell us the
full truth about it. Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith

Evan Rosen Bloomy can follow on Twitter at Evan TMZ
t MZ with the audio and video today of Kareem
Hunt hitting a woman outside his apartment at a hotel
(02:27:10):
in February. The publishing of this today resulted in Kareem
Hunt being released by the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, I
want to start here, Evan with you. I know it
was hard to get the release of the video from
the hotel to police for the NFL to see it,
but there's other ways for the NFL to find out
what was on the video. Someone could have told them,
something could have happened. And my defense is in the end,
(02:27:32):
well TMZ was able to get it. So yeah, I mean,
we're good at this kind of stuff, I guess. I mean,
we're We're proven on multiple occasions that were better than
the NFL at getting videos when it comes to domestic
violence or man on woman crime. That's that's for sure.
But you know, based on what we know so far,
(02:27:53):
the NFL, it seems in this situation, made a real
legitimate effort. Uh. They say that they contacted the police
and the police wouldn't release the video. They contacted the hotel,
and the hotel would reach the video. They contacted the victim,
the victim wouldn't talk. So you know, at a point,
what do you want the NFL to do. It's like
they're going through all of the channels and if no
(02:28:13):
one wants to play ball with them, their hands are
kind of tied to a point. So I I kind
of understand the NFL's frustration on this one, and it's
hard to really go after him here. Well, now, the
thing is, it's not about seeing the video. I understand
that part of it, but about finding out what was
on it. That's something the NFL could if I get
if league we don't see it all, but finding out
what was on it and then saying, okay, let's have
(02:28:35):
a better investigation than just talking to Kareem Hunt. Right.
Well there, I mean to your point on that what
we did uh months ago. A lot of people think
that the bodycam footage that you see in the post
that we put up earlier that came out today, that's
not true. The body cam stuff where you see the
police speaking with Kareem Hunt, speaking with his friends, and
speaking with the victim. We posted that on our website
a couple of months ago, and there's like forty five to, like,
(02:28:58):
I think an hour and a half of it EEO
of cops talking to people. And if the NFL would
have looked at that video, to me, that shows that
this wasn't just two people having an argument. You had
a cop going up to the woman and hearing her
side of the story, going up to her friends, several witnesses,
and hearing that there are other people in the hotel
who said that there was a fight. Um, even Cream's
(02:29:21):
people who were talking to cops were acknowledging there was
a physical incident. So if you're the NFL at that point,
you've got to watch the whole video and listen to
what everyone is saying. And to me, there's enough there
in the police video, which was publicly released a couple
of months ago, to at the very least takes some
kind of disciplinary action against Kareem. Yeah. I guess that
that's the hard part. As we've been talking about it
(02:29:43):
a little bit, Evan, the just the idea from the
NFL once they're stone walled from receiving the tape. How
much they pursue in terms of, you know, just ferretting
around the business the building to get someone to talk
a little bit, I would assume in their business they
move on. All right, this this is what's on the file,
(02:30:04):
and we go back to work. But again, all of
that is on the all we did, all teams he
did for the first video, not not the surveillance video
was we just made a formal request of the police
and they gave us all the body cam stuff with
the statements from everybody involved in your witnesses. So if
they really wanted, I mean, they had that based on
that alone, I think at the very there should have
been some disciplinary action some but that's just my opinion. Well,
(02:30:26):
as you see and the commissioner is kind of turtled
for a while here, he's he's kind of disappeared in
terms of any of these kind of actions. Yeah, I mean,
and now you have you have the team taking the
strong stance, you know, cutting him. They cut Kareem hunt.
I did not see that coming at all. It's just
a matter of time, I think, until another team picks
him up. He's twenty few years old and he was
(02:30:46):
the Russian leader last year. I don't think he's going
away anytime soon, but it's gonna be interesting to see
which team decides to stick a chance on him and
what his PR team is going to do to try
to get him back in. I guess the good graces
of the public. That is a hell of a job
for any PR. He can see any crisis manager, how
do you fix Kareem Hunt? And to me, that's going
to be an interesting part of the story too. Evan.
(02:31:08):
Do you have a relationship with the NFL, like whether
it was Ray Rice or videos like this to come up,
Do they call you, they talked to you about how
you obtain the video or seeing stuff, any kind of
that stuff. Yeah, we actually have a pretty good relationship
with the NFL despite all of this, and we have
people there that we get along with great and we
call We called them before we put the story up
to give them an opportunity to comment, as we do
(02:31:29):
with you know, all of the stories that we break,
We always try to get comments from all the different sides,
and um, you know, and and Ray Rice. Shockingly, we
have a great relationship with Ray Rice. I mean ever
since we broke that story we've had. You know, some
people can be like, oh, you guys ruined my life
or whatever, but he's actually not only owned up to
what he did and doesn't blame anyone else. He's actually
(02:31:49):
been working with us too. Uh. When it comes to
a public speaking, when he talks to the youth, he
wants to get his message out him and Larry Johnson,
of all people, remember the out to the former teach
running back was involved in several domestic violence incidents during
his career. He came out and spoke out against Kareem
Hunt today and said, I can't believe you didn't learn
from my mistakes. He now speaks to youth groups and
(02:32:12):
athletes and tries to get them to learn from all
of the things that he did wrong When he was

How does this stuff start to trail trail into you?
Is there just some inbox and hey, we've got hot
tips or is this someone you know, the coming in
clandestine overnight saying hey, look what I found. I mean,
(02:32:56):
I can't I can't really talk specifically, but I can
talk just just general process. Yeah, I mean, look, I
mean sometimes we get stuff from the tip box that's big.
Other times, you know, we have our our reporters are
really good reporters who make contacts. We I mean, this
isn't a story we just picked up today with with
You've been working this story for a long time and
we've made some really good sources on this story. We've
(02:33:16):
been covering this for a long time. Uh, Ray Rice,
same thing. That was the result of a lot of
work into that story. But you know, books, sometimes people
are just like, hey, here's what I've got. Other times,
people uh, lead us to other stories, you know, just
like any other news organization. Um, yeah, but people know. Look,
it helps us that people know that we are in
(02:33:36):
the market for videos. A lot of other news ority
days will say, oh one that we wouldn't pay for videos.
We do pay for video because we're under the mindset
that if you have a video that's real and we
can authenticate, we can vet, we can make sure that
it's legitimate and all that stuff, we feel that there's
value when it people should be paid for it. So
we'll be well, we'll buy your video. If you have

know it's been a long day. Thanks so much for
stopping by. As always, we'll talk to you so great
stuff there from Evon rosen Bloom. Look just the body
camera video, Like we said, hey, look just just be
real for a second and live in reality, all right.
The NFL, they said, we tried to get it from
(02:34:21):
the hotel. They said, we only give it to the police.
They tried to get it from the police. The police said,
you know, we don't not have to turn this over.
You're really telling me, you're really telling me the National
Football League couldn't get somebody in police, in the law
enforcement to describe what was on the video. They could
get one person say, you know, off the record, this
(02:34:41):
is what's on there that happens everywhere everywhere. They couldn't
get one Look, this is pretty serious. Can you just
off the record tell me what's on it? But it
doesn't matter, but you can make you can make any
kind of said or or it may not even need
to be off the record. You could just say, hey,
can you tell me what's on the video? Can you
tell me what's on there? And they could say, well
you and hear it from me. But he shoves the woman,
(02:35:02):
the woman punches him. He rams a guy into her
and knocks her over, and then he kicks at her. Okay, thanks,
and that would be enough. I mean, really, it's the NFL.
I mean they can't they can't go We're the National
Football League. To were just the National Football League. We really,
I I don't know how to I don't know what
to do. I'm just throwing my hands up because they
didn't want to look into it. They didn't want they
thought there's no video. We can't say, so we're just
(02:35:24):
gonna sweep it under the rug. And here it's months later,
we don't have to worry about it, And now here
it is and they look awful again, well like everything,
And now becomes the question of in that time you've
got nine months elapsed, how many people knew about a tape,
how many people saw a tape, how many had whispers
of it, and who knew what when? Right? The all
the old classic notes, because we saw some conflicting reports
(02:35:47):
that maybe people had a little more knowledge of this
than they're letting on. So the NFL still awaiting statement.
They've been awfully quiet thus far. Twitter at how about
a fresca Mike at Swollen Dome. The Jason Smith Show
with my bass friend Mike Harmon coming up next, Uh
the best booing of the night and we give your
upset specials for the week college football in the NFL. Fox.
(02:36:10):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific. Baby, Oh, take off your uniform. Here we go.
Tonight we have the Pack twelfth title game. It was boring.
(02:36:34):
There was only one touchdown and the commission there got booed.
After everyone doesn't like him, they booed him as many
times a boot stay off, the week, day off, the
(02:36:54):
weeks stay all we duh. Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith
showing Mike, it's been that kind of night, very very
heavy night, of course, is what's going on with Kareem
(02:37:15):
Hunt and his being released by the Kansas City Chiefs.
But I want to spend some time obviously having some
fun stuff as well sending the weekend with something really enjoyable.
We're gonna have our upset special picks in the second,
but first let's hear the reaction for PAC twelve Commissioner
Larry Scott after he was introduced to give the Pack
(02:37:35):
twelve championship trophy to the Washington Huskies after they want
a ten three barn burner over the Utah Utes to
win the Pack twelve and head to the Rose Bowl.
The introduction by Fox Sports one and AM five seventy
local host here in Los Angeles, Petro's papadake PAC twelve
Championship trophy, Ladies and gentlemen. The commissioner of the Pack twelve,
(02:37:57):
Larry Scott, It's been an in the old put twelve seasons.
Congratulations to the Husky l championship. Here we go, Come on,
in if you will. But one of the things I love,
one of the benchmarks of the Petris and Money Show.
(02:38:19):
You can find him on Twitter at the old p
UH is the introductions that they give to guests when
they come on and you get the long CV, you
get to know what they're working on. But it's it's
excitedly it's not bringing into this guy, now, hey, let
me ask you a question. It's no, here's the build
up and here's the throw and you come on in
and you come crashing into the set basically as if
(02:38:40):
you're doing a shoot interview one one of the old
regional WWF w w E programming. That's one of the
things Petris does and he did it here for Larry
Scott and the response, well, not so positive, but it's great.
It's inspired some Petro with the Vince McMahon walking to
the walking into the ring kind of thing. Yeah, it's
(02:39:03):
it's a beautiful set and no question and one of
the most exciting parts of the game. You had the
defensive touchdown, you had a blocked kick, you had the
pass interference that wasn't called on the final play that
got winning gam all mad and cursing out the referee.
And then you got Larry Scott getting boo That's it.
Four things. Poor Larry Scott. He had a good run boo. No,
(02:39:23):
he didn't really come on guys getting booed depending on
I like doing his State of the Union. He had
to answer a bunch of questions about the rent. Uh.
Time now to make our picks are upset specials for
the week in both college football and the National Football League.
I'm taking Dallas over the Saints, and that's a pretty
good win because I had it all week long and
(02:39:45):
they won on the field. You got pretty chesty about that.
You tried to give yourself three wins. I'm taking my
fourteen and seven record overall upset specials into the weekend.
Mike and I do what we pick one college, one
pro game college. I'm sticking with what I said earlier
this week, Texas plus eight over Oklahoma. It will come
down to the end. Eight is too many points. NFL.
(02:40:06):
Sorry to do this, buddy, but I'm taking the Giants
plus four and a half over your Bears. Look at you.
The Giants will keep it close. It will be a
heavy dose of sa Kwon Barkley. No, Mitchell Trabiskie Chicago wins,
but this has a twenty to seventeen ish kind of
game written all over it. I'll take the four and
a half. Maybe Odell Beckham Junior's outburst quote unquote last
week will help uh. In college, i gotta take Northwestern.
(02:40:28):
I mean I'm getting fifty to win out right, but
I'll take the fifteen and a half. For ther betting purposes,
your plus five hundred if you're just going straight money line.
As for my upset pick, look, I'm gonna go with
those Buffalo Mills. I don't trust him offensively, but defensively,
maybe I get a score two against a sad sack
(02:40:49):
offense getting three and a half over under a forty,
I'll take them to win out right. So there you go.
There's our upset special picks for the weekend. The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmen live from The Guy Goes Studios.
Tonight show brought to you by getic Or fifteen minutes
can save you fifteen cent more in car insurance. Jonas
Knocks is next.
