(00:45):
with a broken leg, Colt McCoy who left this game
earlier limping to the locker room for the Redskins as
they try to close the gap against the Eagles. X
Ray show he has a fractured right fibula. This acording
dude Redskins head coach Jay Gruden, who told this to
ESPN's Lisassaulters just before the beginning of the third quarter,
(01:06):
which has just started. So now it is Mark Sanchez's
team is for the rest of the regular season, said Chess,
said Chess the world and he almost had a butt
bumbled already too. He did try to cover the ball
with his That was that was different. I don't know
(01:28):
what that means. Sam on the board, you could uh
give him your hate at Iowa Sam Mark Sanchez. It's
like if the world ended, the things that would remain
would be Isaiah Thomas taking over the Nixon making trades
and Mark Sanchez playing quarterback. There's a lot it could
(01:50):
end in fire, it could end in ice, it could
end in in a plague. However it ends, those two
things would still be happening. So you're writing a poke
po apocalyptic novel that has one of those three ends.
It's just just a sports play. With the world ended,
what would happen in the Nicks again? And Mark Sanchez
(02:10):
is playing quarterback somehow? It's the NFL. How many started quarterbacks?
If we had now in the National Football League, it's
at least double the number of teams, right, we gotta
be at like sixty five at this point, lucky number
sixty five. Just ridiculous number of people involved in this
National Football League season. Uh, the wheels keep churning. Obviously, Friday,
(02:33):
we spent a lot of time on Kareem Hunt. His
departure brings back Shark Hendrick West, so he had another
guy to the mix. Tonight, the Eagles celebrating the return
of Darren Sprawls from a long out outage because of
an injury, and and Golden Tate showed up in your
stat line. I mean, there's just a lot of happy returns.
(02:55):
But yes, Mark Sanchez at the center of it all. Uh,
And he's probably looking and he's gonna feel any pressure
around him now that he knows the prior. His predecessors,
the last two both had broken legs. So we'll keep
you updated on this. Because the Eagles on top of
the Redskins fourteen thirteen as they play early in the
(03:15):
third quarter, and the Eagles had a big scoring chance
just go by the boards as Carson Wentz was picked
on the goal line. The Redskins get a return out
near the forty yard line, so it looked like the
Eagles were going in at least for three, possibly seven.
Josh Norman instead, Uh, it looks like he was trying
(03:37):
to I think Wentz was trying to thread it into Alshon.
Jeffrey just made a bad throws a terrible throw because
Jeffrey was cutting towards the back of the end zone. Uh,
and he threw it short right at the the goal line. Instead,
it's it's Norman cutting off the route and picking him
off and almost taking it back what back to midfield
by time he finishes the return. So, I mean it
(03:58):
two things that would will be left. I'm trying to
think of other things that would happen. There's Jets would
still find a way to disappoint. I mean that would
be to the Jets could be playing in the NFL
where it's just them against Mark Sanchez, and they still
would find a way to lose. But when you expect
that they're gonna lose, is it disappointing anymore? Uh, We'll
be disappointing if there was, if you know, because that's
where I all I had love. Like if the word
(04:19):
say the world ends in ice. It's really really cold,
I can't go outside. I'm making on penguins to telling
me news about things, and they would say, DVD b DV,
dvdvdanche turn all the Penguins into the Hamburg Panchez. Well,
I'm trying to do that. How the Penguins would walk
the DVDVDVDV DV DVDVDVD. Note to people not watching this
right now, we have no videos, so you'll have to
do this syste him in your head. He is actually
(04:41):
making Penguins. Well, I'm trying to get in character. Oh
that's what I have a method act. Yeah. I mean
I could have gone Burgess, Meredith Penguin, or Danny Penguin,
but instead I went with d DVDVD. Now, if the
world ends in fire, I mean, you're trying to just
stay away, You're trying to stay cool, and you know,
I'm not really adding a lot of updates, but when
I can, I would find out. You know, Sanchez like
(05:03):
the world t J still on fire, beating the Jets
all by himself. So if it comes to that, I'll
make sure I can get to a to a cassette
player where I can play Arthur Brown's The Crazy World
of Arthur Brown's hell Fire and then hell Fire from
the Hunchback of Notre Dame and Fire. If the world fire,
(05:24):
if it ended in the plague, then Mark Sanchez and
Isaiah Thomas would still be like Matt Damon and Contagion.
Hey we're fine, you're ready, We're rolling let's go, let's go,
let's go. I've got, I've got, And you can play
a lot of the early Metallic as the soundtrack, because
it was all about biblical fare. I didn't eat the
bad pig with the blood and the thing and the
sushi and the whole thing, with the Gwyneth Paltrow and
everybody and the fire. Let's go, let's go, let's go,
let's go. Ready to play. I'll tell you what, because
(05:47):
you were just giving me all sorts of tales of
your coaching over the weekend, and I gotta say I
was exhausted just listening to it. I can't imagine doing it.
Isaiah Thomas just traded three months worth of food in
this post apocalyptic world for Jared Jeffries. Oh my god,
I can't believe that three months worth of food, Isaiah.
(06:09):
The return question. Yeah, yeah, yeah, losing again but tonight certainly.
Adrian Peterson taking center stage earlier in this game, because
first play of the game we found out Colt McCoy
was leaving. Adrian Peterson takes a handoff from Mark Sanchez,
and Mark Sanchez is first play and he does this
(06:31):
my rural hale fifty to thirty a p the races
electrified apart for a touchdown Wedgkin's radio network on the call,
you could see the instant impact that Mark Sanchez had
on that team. They were clearly all dialed up to
stop Sanchez instead. That's the best handoff he's had in
(06:53):
his career. And Adrian Peterson, I believe that is a
the rest has been playing football for like a hundred
and seventy five years, does a franchise record, longest run
in Redskins history, longest run in his career, and certainly
for Adrian Peterson, happy returns. Redskin fans have to be excited.
The last four weeks, he hadn't gone over seventy total
yards in a game in a game ninety on one, Kerry,
(07:15):
we can steal time, turn back the clock just for
one day. Nicely done. Yeah you were here to go share? Well, no,
I said we could. Yeah, I mean because because there
is actually and open to the show asking about panty
hose on Harmon's legs, which would get me back into
the if I could turn back time video where I
could be like share on the ship is that it
(07:39):
was an actual ship she was. The other was big
black fish nets. Yeah, we'll watch that later. But then
you could turn back right now you keep talking with
with Doctor Strange, so we could get cumber Batch into
the mix as well. See, we can mix all these worlds.
That's what we do here at Fox Sports Radio t J.
A lot of Doctor Strange love in the studio J
(08:03):
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox Twitter at how
about a fresco Right now? Philadelphia still with the lead
over Washington fourteen thirteen, just under eight minutes left to
go in the third quarter, and Mark Sanchez is playing
quarterback for the Washington Redskins. I feel like Kyle mcloch
on the end of the last Twin peaks what year
is this? What year is this? And then Laura Palmer
(08:23):
is screaming, sorry spoiler alert? Is that where that look
guy that comes in and starts talking in the night?
Would you can't understand little guy? No, he's he's in
the black lodge. That Mark sad Jazz. Still he is
quarter back even though he is twenty eight team. I
didn't really mean to encourage it, but I guess a
(08:46):
pretty good, you know, black lodge voice though, that's pretty good. Yeah,
there's no question about it. But yeah, the strange world
the NFL Week thirteen. We're talking about it a little
bit of the fantasy football ramifications of some of the
craziness that we saw some lackluster or poor performances from quarterbacks,
and one team in particular just raised the white flag.
So while that's going on, we know that Aaron Rodgers
(09:09):
is not going to have a say in picking the
next head coach for the Green Bay Packers. The Packers
who fired Mike McCarthy yesterday following their loss the Arizona Cardinals,
which we told you was gonna happen. Look after the
after the bad loss on national television, we broke it
down that was the point of no return for Mike
McCarthy making poor decisions, and that was where everybody forever
(09:29):
turned against him. And that was the moment when you
knew McCarthy was gonna be fired. Didn't think it would
be till the end of the season because normally a
coach only gets fired when he loses the locker room. Obviously,
Mike McCarthy has lost the locker room or lost Aaron Rodgers,
who had a chance to defend Mike McCarthy after the
game yesterday before he was fired and said, I don't
control all these things. We're getting ready to play our
next game. But according to reports today, team president Mark
(09:52):
Murphy said Aaron will have some input, he'll talk to them,
but he's not going to be a part of the
process and he wants no part of the decision to
move from Mike McCarthy. This is all the Packers. So
while everybody has debated about this all day, we've seen
this now for twenty four hours. I'll tell you the
two people that it's gonna come down to to coach
the Green Bay Packers. Number one, who you thought was
(10:15):
gonna be on the list but it is really not
is John Harbaugh. Because you think Hardball he was gonna
be done. He was gone, he was out the window,
he was out the door. It was boy, Harbor is
gonna be great. All the Jets should hire him, All
the brown should iro him. Now, Oh, I've won three
in a row and Lamar Jackson is playing pretty well.
And no, wait a minute, maybe John Hardball keeps his job.
(10:37):
So it's not a certainty. And I don't even think
it's gonna happen now that he's gonna lose his job,
because he has shown I can coach Lamar Jackson seamlessly
from Joe Flacco Lamar Jackson, and he's a weapon and
they're winning games. So suddenly to go from firing John Harbaugh,
that's really not on the table. The two guys who there,
it's gonna come down to, and one of them will
(10:58):
be the next head coach of the Green Bay Packers
because you can't go and hire at Josh McDaniels. This
is Aaron Rodgers. This is the end of his prime.
You're not gonna go higher an up and coming offensive mind,
because you need somebody that's gonna walk in with the
cache that Aaron Rodgers is gonna be able to buy in.
The team is gonna buy in, and Aaron Rodgers doesn't
have years to waste for guys to kind of get
(11:18):
it and and and and have some kind of adjustment
to being a head coach. You need someone who has
recently been a very good offensive head coach in the
National Football League, someone who comes in with that instant
cache that can have the buy in. There's two guys.
One is Bruce Arians and the other is Gary Kubiak.
As long as Gary Kubiak is back from his health concerns.
(11:40):
Remember the hard issues. He took time away. He gets
a clean bill of health because you're talking about two
guys that have just overseen offenses that were really, really
good in the NFL. Al right now, Gary Kubiak won
a Super Bowl. He won a Super Bowl with Peyton Manning.
He got there when he was good, and he got
there one when he was bad. Gary Kubiak would be
a phenomenal choice. Bruce Arey is as well. What he
(12:01):
did building offenses Pittsburgh and everywhere he's been. He's that
guy even getting things to work in Arizona for a while.
Bruce Arians is that kind of mind. He would be
the best fit. He'd be my number one choice there
because only because the health of Gary Kubiak is he
gonna be ready to get back into the rigors of
the National Football League. But it'll be one of those
two guys is the next head coach of the Packers.
I like the idea of Arians why because there's a
(12:23):
little bit of craziness to it, righty, You know, we
get some good sound bites rolling out of it. He's
been in the background of some of the Jay Glazer
interviews that we've had in the past, talking about in
the background, not like in the background doing you know,
in the background, hanging out having a drink. Yeah I'm drinking. Yeah, no,
no question about it. But then you have he said
I'd go back to the Browns. But I gotta think
(12:43):
the the eyebrow raises that the idea of coming in
because I think he'd know what to do with Aaron Jones. Uh,
And you have Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams. That's a pretty
nice basse. And that's one of the things that I
keep raising my hand on when everybody immediately just you know,
fawns all over Aaron Rodgers, like, no, no no, there's still
some talent on this team. And other quarterbacks win and
(13:04):
play well and and lead their teams time and again.
And the numbers are starting to come out because everybody's
doing the deep dive on all this. But the fact is,
if you're the elite quarterback that everybody wants to put
you at, sometimes you have to rise above. And also,
if you're there that long, you can't tell me that
you can't have an argument with the coach over play
calling if you don't like the call, like Lebron changes
(13:27):
the play. Luke Walton says, fine, but I like getting
paid and wearing expensive suits on the side. But if
you're the guy, I can't. It's like whenever they say, hey,
the coach had no no input on this part of
a personnel matter. No, if you're a decade tenured guy,
you got some input. And so for Aaron Rodgers to
be consulted but not part of it seems ludicrous to me.
(13:48):
But in this case, McCarthy moves on. Bruce arians comes
in and you know he's he's aggressive, working the ball
down fields. You you don't try to add another element
to that receiving game you saw this week. You returned
Randall Cobb that only has small games. Jimmy Graham's not
the player he once was, so there's certainly some personnel
decision to be made. You look at Jim Harbaugh, well,
(14:11):
I'd like to see the the shift. You know, there's
there's some excellence uh there, but Michigan on the rise,
he won't come. Uh. Kubiak. There's a report for me
I and Rappaport going back about two weeks that maybe
he'd get back into the game and get out of
that special advisor role with the Broncos. And maybe be
a coordinator again. So I don't know that necessarily the
head coaching job is there, but certainly it's it's intriguing
(14:36):
the early returns. You know, when you look at the
betting odds get us to You mentioned Josh McDaniels. Uh,
you got Lincoln Riley. If he wants to make the jump,
maybe going to work, he'll he'll have his choice. My
guess is if he wants to leave right Green Bay,
what he want to just go back and work with
Baker Mayfield. You got Di Filippo, the Enemy, Carl Michael,
(14:58):
the flour before you get down you John Horrible on
the list. That plus five thousand certain of success, but
the health and just how long he wants to do
because you need to buy in for a couple of
years and that's just it right, it's you're thinking of
three or four it's a three or four year thing.
And you know, I know the reaction for Bruce Harrians
was but he said the only job he wanted was
(15:18):
the Browns. Now realized he said that because he wanted
people to know he's ready to get back in the
reason he said the Browns is because that's the only
team that had a quote opening head coach's He's he's
not gonna say it about a coach who's tenured with
the team. He's not gonna say, boy, I'd love to
be the Steelers head coach, like Tom gonna go, tell's
wrong with you man. He's only gonna say it because
(15:40):
they have a quote opening given their past relationships. I'm
gonna come take that, but come up for that ass.
But I know that that that's exactly why he said
he wanted people know I'm interested, But they're the only
ones that had a quote opening because it was you know,
Williams is the interim head coach, which he may want
up be in the full time head coach, but at
the time time, that's why he said, he's not gonna
(16:01):
say I want to be the Cowboys head coach, Jason, No,
not while there's tenure head coaches there. Now, I'm curious
to see how this starts to spend Mike McCarthy a
lot of people angry. The thing that I think upset
me most about the analysis of it was, how do
you do this to a guy that wants Super Bowl easy?
His team didn't care ten years only and I don't
(16:23):
remember anybody giving him a gold pen and signing him
to a damn lifetime content. That's not the way it works.
Keep going and you lose your your your luster, right
John Harbaugh in Baltimore, shorter that shorter distance going back
to his Super Bowl. He's out. He could still leave
because Ozzi knew somes out. Maybe they just want a
whole new regime to lead things forward with Lamar Jackson.
(16:43):
But you only you don't get forever. You know, once
you're you're aptitude and your ability to win games starts
to decline. Everybody gets restless and the message is lost.
Time to move forward, Twitter, how about a fresco Mike
gets swollen? Done? The Jason Smith Show with My Baby.
Yes it's red Mike Harmon right now Eagles driving holding

(17:49):
the red Skins fourteen. This is not a lie, This
is not article from the Onion. In the fourth quarter,
Carson Wentz will attempt to outdo Mark Sanchez and hold
onto this football. I dig this. We got the subrouder
film on that interception at the goal line by Josh Norman. Uh,
it was actually deflected by Mason Foster, linebacker gets a
(18:13):
fingertip on it, and you see the ball change trajectory
and go straight into the gut of Josh Norman. Still
an interception either way, doesn't matter. Still, she'll tried to
thread the needle. Still gonna failed that minus two if
you're playing cars, minus to Mark Sanchez nine out of
thirteen for eighty two yards so far. Well, a ninety
yard handoff, yes, and it's likely going to be him
(18:35):
the rest of the way. Colt McCoy leaving the game
a broken fibula. Second Redskins quarterback with a broken leg
this season, and now it will likely be Mark Sanchez
the rest of the way to try to pilot the
Redskins into the play. Well, you know they I was
always told they come in threes. Right when you see
that's not gonna make Mark Sanchez feel good. I think
he's probably heard the same thing, and I feel good
(18:57):
right whenever we see, Oh that guy passed, that's too bad. No,
who's gonna be third broken leg? I mean it could
be Sam, it could be Lee, could be you don't kiss,
doesn't celebrities die. Here's Mike Harmon's list of who could
be next. Mike, people immediately go to the pool to
(19:17):
see who's next. That you're going, You're going to hell?
You are you're gonna get taking you with me? No, No,
I gotta move away from you. That's time. I'm too hie.
I only sit about three not not even two feet
away from you. I'm too close. I don't have that
much of a reach. But we talked about Tyson Fury
the other day. He's got reach and don't Yeah, but
the lightning is gonna it's gonna be too close. My kid,
all rise up from the dead. Just so you think
(19:39):
I'm knocked out, I come back for your ass. Meanwhile,
what is next now for Kareem Hunt? Hunt, who was
released by the Chiefs on Friday after video surface of
him striking, hitting, and kicking a woman in a February
video for outside his apartment in a hotel he lived in.
(20:03):
We went through the whole weekend Chiefs played without him,
held off the Raiders with Spencer Ware getting the lion
share of the work. And we told you on Friday,
I can't see anybody claiming Kareem Hunt. Alex Marvez, NFL Insider,
was on with us saying, hey, he's really talented, he's young.
Someone's gonna claim him. Just watch. I didn't see it happening.
First of all, he's still on the Commissioner's exempt list,
(20:24):
which means he can't play. Who knows when he's going
to play. And judging by the reaction that the redskin
saw when they signed Ruben Foster, who got arrested in
a domestic violence incident three days before, the Redskins said yeah,
we're gonna put an acclaim on it because we talked to,
you know, guys on the team and and hey, you know, hey,
guys from Alabama say he's okay, So you know what.
Not it wasn't gonna happen this fast. It wasn't going
(20:45):
to happen, and it hasn't. He has cleared. Waivers was
not claimed by anybody, though he is still on the
commissioner's exemp list. Two other things have happened in the
course of the past few hours. On Kareem Hunt, we
find out that he was involved in an incident in
a Can't Sitting nightclub in January. According to TMZ, a
man told police he was beaten by former NFL running
(21:06):
back George Atkinson and other men that included Kareem Hunt.
He said he was coming to the defense of a
friend who'd been shoved by Atkinson. There was a fight.
He was treated for a broken rib, broken nose, and
multiple contusions. Also, we now know how the NFL botched
this investigation, and many people on Friday said, oh, you
guys are the NFL. Don't you know jurisprudence show they
(21:28):
if they can't see the tape, they can't see the tape.
What did we find out today from what went on
with this investigation, the Chiefs were dissuaded of pursuing the
tape by the National Football League. They were trying to
get the tape and the NFL said no, they dissuaded
them from doing it. Even in their statement today, the
(21:48):
NFL really didn't deny that this is what they were doing.
The NFL once again showing you, boy, we get the
roadmap to how to act right morally so many times
and we still say nope, I want to take this
that's less traveled. I mean, telling the Chiefs not to
pursue the videotape is absolutely insane. But I can't sound
surprised anymore because this is exactly the National Football League
(22:10):
has done things. You would think that after Ray Rice,
they would know, all right when it's domestic violence. But still, hey,
we're gonna try to hush things up and hope that
this doesn't come to light. Well, but it's one thing
to say, hey, Chiefs, we got this, and then with
every ounce of the power that you have, you go
after it. I can understand it's for the Chiefs. They
(22:30):
should know by now that it's like an n C
double A investigation they're not gonna do anything, so you
need to do it yourself or eventually it's coming back
on you. And they didn't talk to Kareem Hunt, they
didn't talk to the woman involved. NFL didn't do any
of these things. So what kind of investigation do they
really run when you don't talk to Hunt, you don't
talk to the woman, and you tell the chiefs don't look,
don't pursue the tape. Right, you talk to a bunch
(22:51):
of former teammates. Uh, you know, going back to the
Washington side. On this side, you you look at the
chiefs there, there's not a whole lot of investigation that's
seemingly been done. And and once again for the NFL,
it's the all right, can you tell us exactly what
you're trying to do here? Because if you have a
policy on it, then work to your policy. If the
(23:11):
policy is they're not in jail, they're eligible, then just
make it that the policy and just be done with
it and take the back backlash that comes with it.
You can't have it both ways. And that's the problem
here is that you put in a policy and said, well,
this is what we're working towards, and then you apply
that randomly, as if you were throwing darts at a board. Hey,
what do you hit? Oh? He got one game. Ah,
(23:34):
there's no videotape that that that means you go to
that wheel. If there's a videotape, we go over here
and then we hope the video tape doesn't come out,
but when it does, then we have our statements here
and not making light of it. It's just the idea
that they're so ridiculously shortsighted and putting their heads in
the sand is really what what it's trying to be.
(23:56):
Because Roger Goodell has been invisible right for a long
time now, we haven't seen him really talk about much
of anything, hiding in the shadows, much like all the
other commissioners and major sports see it's kind of the
same thing'll just hey, we're gonna let the wheels turn.
But then you tried to become the disciplinary and commissioner
after Paul tag Leboo, and now you you've waived that
(24:16):
flag and you put in a policy that has little teeth.
So if you're gonna say that a guy like Kareem
Hunt because the police moved on, then just make that
the policy. And when people condemn your league and go
on the news stations in twenty four hour news cycle
sports columnists right thousand, two thousand word diet tribes and
(24:38):
and explanations of where you're failing. Then then just own it,
just wear it, don't don't come out in the middle,
and then just say, well we kind of tried. No, no,
they didn't want to try at all. Right, they've tried
to do the same thing. You know, those who don't
learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Now, the
NFL is going to fight a big, pr uphill battle.
They still can't get moral things like violence against women. Right,
(25:00):
they had Ray Rice and now they have this, and
it's just absolutely embarrassing. And eventually the NFL is going
to realize, boy, we need somebody else running because Roger
Goodell is morally bankrupting us. We have no cash a
morally with anybody anymore. Well that's the debate, though, is
who comes in and and what's the policy become because
you already went halfway with what Goodell tried to do, right,
(25:22):
because it looked like he was going down the right path,
looked like he was going to be the wait, wait,
wait a minute, my business partners here, the guys that
control what I do, the owners. They don't like this.
Turn here, turn back to the left, and now we're
in no man's life. Twitter at how about a Fresca
Mike and swollen Dome The Jason Smith Show with Mike
Carmen coming up in one minute. Mike Pereira stops by
(25:44):
to help us make sense that two of the biggest
officiating situations of the weekend of the NFL. But first, Dep.
Carson has got what's trending? D c Hey, let's start
with a big news and Monday Night football, Redskins taking
on the Eagles. Second quarter, Colt McCoy left the game
with a right lower leg injury. Learned just after halftime
it is a fractured fibula. McCoy done for the season.
(26:06):
Mark Sanchez, who has just signed two weeks ago after

Now Colt McCoy done for the year. I just for
giggles went to the Redskins website for the depth chart
and never Mark Sanchez. Even on the depth chart, it
(27:34):
was still Alex Smith and Colt McCoy. That's how checked
out of this season. For the empty head with nothing
inside it, Like here's a placeholder till we get there picture,
there's there's nothing. They're not even a santch just doesn't
even exist. J Schrader is still on that list, joining
us now on the hot line. No one better than
Fox Sports rules analysts former VP of Officiating Mike Pereira, Mike,
(27:57):
what's happening tonight? My friend? You know, we have the
game here in New England yesterday. I'm going to Nashville
tomorrow for the Thursday night game, and I thought, well,
what the heck, I might as well stay in Boston,
Boston Commons, Newberry Avenue, a couple of Christmas gifts down
on the Italian District tonight for dinner. But what a
job I have? Unbelievable. Did you work way to create?
(28:20):
You created an industry. You're a pioneer. Were you in
Belichick yelling at each other across the field today at
all that happened. No, No, I want to go down.
I want to go down and yell at them, but
I couldn't. I couldn't get down there fast. All right,
well let's start there. Obviously, the yelling match between Bill
Belichick and Adam Feeling one of the big headlines this weekend.
Feeling upset, feeling that after a big conversion attempt by
(28:42):
the Vikings that Chung goes down to give the Patriots
a chance to look at the replay to see if
they want to challenge it. Belichick, blankety blanks, stealing Feeling,
blankety blanks. Belichick. From your perspective, how conscious are you
of Okay, this might be a ployed by the other
team to use an injury or something else to get
(29:02):
something else done on the sideline, whether it's challenge a
play or something like that. Well, I mean you're always
aware of that, but there's no provision in the rule
book that allows you, as an official to do anything.
If a player goes down, you are to assume that
he is hurt um and and rightfully so. I mean
the last thing like to do is say, okay, we're
not gonna stop the clock. And then it turns out
(29:24):
you know, the guys are broken fibula. Uh you know,
you know, so you you have to you have to
lean to the guy being hurt. Now, the rule book,
you know, says that it deprecates any team faking injuries. Um.
And you know, I mean, look at it in today's
game of football. You have to think that it does
happen with this up tempo, um no huddle type offense
(29:46):
that some people play. But you gotta leave the officials
out of it. Um. I hated to see that yesterday
because I thought it hurt feeling a hell of a
lot more than it hurt belowcheck. You know, he he
dropped the past the very next play, um, and he
just really didn't do much for the rest of the game.
And and I think he's admitted the fact that he
felt like he lost control a little bit, um, you know.
(30:10):
And I wouldn't put it past the Bikings to do
the same thing if it presented itself to them. Also,
So shame to see, but you don't often get the
faking of injuries. And I'm not saying that it happened there,
but you know, if it did, that is bad gamesmanship
for everybody. And my last night the Chargers and the
(30:30):
Steelers gave us. You could probably do a doctoral thesis
on that game with some of what we saw, but
the same heavy play very early right the Chargers touchdown.
He timed the snap really really well, almost too well
at times, and then what appears on video as you
watch it repeatedly, uh, an egregious false start call that
gets missed. You know, is that something that the officials
(30:53):
talk about when the guys that that close, you know,
each time the snap and then something like that, do
you huddle together or you know, how does that play
in there? You know, not really. I think you might
get lulled asleep a little bit though. And by that,
I just think that he was getting off the ball
so quickly and and maybe just a flash before the
ball was snapped that you know you're not going to
(31:15):
call it when it's that close. And then all of
a sudden, boom, there's a big one where he has
really come out of his stance early and and you
get caught. But that's no excuse. I mean, you you
you have you've got to make that call. This is
the NFL. And when somebody leaves that quickly. Let's just
remember earlier in the year there was a missed ball,
(31:37):
start saying type of thing, and that official, you know,
was sent home to San Antonio for the rest of
his u officiating career. So you know, it's just it's
a shame. And then, of course, you know, luck would
have it, the play goes for a touchdown, right, you know,
you'd like to think if you missed one, maybe there's
just an incomplete pass or something. But you know that
(31:58):
is that that is the way of the officiating world.
You've got to make that play. It's not one that
involves a lot of judgment. Um, it's one that basically
is a simple one to call if you're alert. And
I just think that you know, that official got caught
napping a little bit. Who would have thought it would
happen with the Chargers twice in one year, that's their
best playdown. Yeah, I know it's it's leading them into
(32:21):
the playoffs. I'll tell you what. I might have been
the only guy that immediately raising my head. Something I
was taught when I first put on pads is an
eight year old, you play until you hear a whistle
and the Steelers all quit. Yeah he did, and that's right,
and you and you know even now. It's interesting because
now you play, you have to play almost through the
(32:42):
whistle because with the replay rules, even though they've ruled
a runner down, for example, if it's in fact a fumble,
they'll give it to the team that recovers, even though
it's essentially after the whistle. The games replays changed the
game in so many ways. And that's that's you got
another one. Now. Lastly, we could stay in this game,
(33:02):
obviously because it comes down to the final play and
the Chargers get three chance at the game winning field
goal because the Steelers kept jumping off sides. But there's
a lot of people wondering if Michael Badgeley moving the
ball a little bit. The Chargers long snapper drew the
Steelers off sides both of those times, because you know,
you see the ball moving, they want to get and
try to block the kick. What did you see on
(33:23):
this Well, basically I saw I see him doing the
same thing he's done every time he snapped the ball,
and and and I think that's what you look at.
I really do think that the Steelers were aggressively trying
to block the kick and you know, and getting the
head start, and it almost felt to me like they
were almost daring the officials not to make the call. Um,
(33:46):
but it beat him in the first time because they jumped,
and then of course the field goal was no good.
So then up came number two times and they beat
it again and blocked it, but you had offside again,
and then the third time they beat it so bad.
You know, they ended up kicking the ball behind the
behind the rusher. You know, we talked about this today.
Was it intentional? Did did the Steelers you know, commit
(34:10):
consecutive fouls um intentionally to try to prohibit a score?
And if it is the case, there is a rule
in the rule book that the referee can step in
and say, hey, we're awarding the field goal. We're going
to award it that, you know, two successive penalties to
prevent a score. If it's intentional, I question really whether
(34:32):
it was or not. But if it was, you could
you could actually award the score at the at the
end of the game there. But everything about that game
was a little bit weird, including the way that Los
Angeles really roared back and um and took over the game.

Thanks Mike, great stuff as always from Mike Pereira. There
you know, I'd like to see him just start, you know,
yelling at Belichick across the way. Oh blank you blank yourself?
Blank you. Well for next week, We've we got one more.
That was part of the podcast he did with Dean

Mike to his holiday shopping. Next week we'll get him
into what are the worst things you've ever been called
by a coach or player? Twitter? At? How about a
fresco Mike at Swollen Dome early fourth quarter Philadelphia with
the thirteen lead over the Redskins. Will keep you updated there.
(35:40):
But coming up next, what's the right conversation to have
about the college football playoff? We'll tell you Fox. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show
with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific,
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harman, The Clippers of One Again. They stay
(36:02):
tied for first place in the West in the NBA.
Friday in Hell, the Devil's host The Flames Puck drops
at set on happening right now, Monday Night Football. Still
the Eagles world. They lead the Redskins. They control the
football early in the fourth quarters, still a lot of
(36:23):
time left. The Redskins ran some kind of razzle dazzle
crap a couple of minutes ago, did not get a
first down. So now with ten minutes to go, the
Eagles take over first and ten with a twelve point lead.
But that was one of the best open field tackles.
It wasn't. That's how because I was a sure tackler.
The guy dove into it. I was a sure tackler
(36:46):
in high school. But let's have the right conversation about
the college football playoff ball matchups. We saw the rankings
come out yesterday, the final regular season rankings of the season,
and we know Clemson, Notre Dame, and Alabama Oklahoma are
your four semifinalists. Clemson will take on Notre Dame in
(37:08):
Alabama will play Oklahoma. Ohio State left out of the
playoff pole despite the fact they're a one loss Big
Ten championship team. You can debate Oklahoma over Ohio State
all you want, and do I think Oklahoma is better
than Ohio State? Sure, I think Oklahoma is better. But
(37:31):
that's the wrong conversation to have because you realize you
are arguing about two Power five conference champions with one loss,
and you're debating the one loss. Well, Oklahoma laws to
tight one to Texas and Ohio State got beat bad
by Purdue. You realize you are arguing for a place
in the final four about how a team lost on
(37:54):
one Saturday. If this was Hey, you know, the college
football Playoff poll is sixteen teams. You're arguing about team
number sixteen. Well, then I get it. And this is
the n c A Tournament and you're talking about splitting
hairs for you know who gets in, and that those
final four spots and the Syracuse deservice spot over Monmouth.
I get this discussion. This is for the top four teams,
(38:15):
four out of the twenty nine to play college football,
and you can't tell me that absolutely well, you know,
Oklahoma deserves to go in. Ohio State is in the
right spot being at home. Ohio State lost one game
all year. They're a one loss conference champion. A one
loss Power five conference champion deserves a chance to play
for the national title. Doesn't deserve to get in ahead
(38:36):
of other teams right now, because obviously you have four
and they took the right four. But you can't tell
me this works when every year you are looking at
potentially one or two conferences being left out of the
playoff because you had the Big ten and you had
the Pack twelve both left out, not the Pack twelve
had a team. Again, you have to have the right conversation.
The right conversation is is this really the best playoff
(38:58):
formula when one Power five conference at least gets left
out every year, especially a one lost team, because before
it was always well, if you lose two games, you're out.
So that's why nobody's got sympathy for Georgia, and I
get it. They had a chance. They lost to Alabama
and they lost twice. Right, No, and I understand, right,
but you could always default to two losses you're out.
(39:20):
But now one loss conference champion and you're left out
looking in that's not the best playoff model. We need
to go to eight so you can get all five
Power five conference teams in and three wild cards. Right,
you get your your champions get in no matter what,
and you get three wild cards. So that way, if
you're a great team, but you just don't happen to
win your conference championsip because you lose one game and
(39:40):
you don't get to play for the conference title because
the team you lost to was is one of the
top four playoff teams or five. That's the right way
to do it. You get all five Power five conference
champions in and you have three wild cards. You can
let in Central Florida as the eight seed. Go ahead,
let him in so they can lose by fifty to Alabama.
Let him in and go do it. But that's the
right way to do it. But that's just it. We
always went back to when the playoff was introduced, knowing
(40:02):
it was flawed, knowing it was problematic because you had
more conferences involved then you had slots available. And that
doesn't even include the possibility of a Central Florida or
a Notre Dame. Right, you're already at a flawed system
before you include any of the schools that are on
the periphery. Now you have four teams instead of too
(40:24):
so at least a little bit right. So the argument
was it'll be better than the BCS and that will
have this to But that was it. We at least
have a playoff. But then you realize there's a problem
with it, and now it's become a bigger issue because
it's not just all right, here's our debate of number four.
It's realizing how big those piles of money are that
(40:44):
are being locked by the conferences that are not included.
That's the whole other thing. So now you got anger,
You've got all sorts of issues. We talked about the
Pack twelve and their problems, and that's just it until
you go to eight. We're gonna continue this and a
lot of fights. Put them in the octagon. Twitter at
how about a Fresco Mike gets swollen Dome. The Jason

Auto or is it Geico dot Com? The only hard
part figuring out which way is easier. Right now, four
oh nine to go in the fourth quarter and Mark
Sanchez hoping against hope, rallying against rallying, trying to get
the Redskins back into this game. Washington is two scores
(41:48):
down against the Philadelphia Eagles to thirteen. And if you
kind of like seeing Mark Sanchez played quarterback tonight, guess
what you're gonna get him the rest of the season.
Colton McCoy leaving this game earlier with the leg injury.
He was seen limping to the locker room a broken
fibula for McCoy. So now this is Mark Sanchez's team,
(42:08):
And I mean what I said the beginning of the show,
Mike Harmen. If this world ended in fire, in ice,
in a plague, in the undead, whatever it was, two
things would happen. For certainty, they would continue. Isaiah Thomas
would take over control of the Knicks, and Mark Sanchez
would still be playing quarterback in the National Football League,
(42:29):
starting for someone. It's it would it would happen to
come in two. So now you have the Clippers on
a roll. I mean another win tonight, so I mean
the apocalypse may be near, right, get rid of all
your stars and then win games. But we're watching this
game and the Mark Sanchez playing for the Clippers. Think
about how about the image? Incredibly, here's the stat that
(42:49):
you're gonna love, all right, the Eagles controlling time of possession.
But for a tip pass that ended as a Josh
Norman interception, it would be perhaps much worse uh in
terms of the stylistic uh finish to this game. Adrian
Peterson had a touchdown run of ninety yards right Sanchez
(43:11):
with the two steps tucked it into his gut. For
the game, he is at ninety eight yards. He's got
nine carries for ninety eight yards, including that ninety yard touchdown.
And because they haven't possessed the ball and they've been
so inept, both with McCoy under center and then with
Sanchez um he's under a hundred yards for the game.
(43:31):
And they as a team before this final drive had
a crude nine total yards in the second half. Allow
me to retort, Yes, nine carries for yards looks awesome.
In the bottom it looks you're talking about a ten
yard per carry average. Doesn't matter, it looks awesome. Great efforts.
(43:55):
Golden Tate finally finding his way in this offense. Seven
catches a five yards to score, also at two point conversion.
As I recall, you have a touchdown to Jordan Matthews
is only catch of the night. Uh and zach Ertz
continues to dominate up to nine catches, eighty three yards
for the night, went over three hundred with two touchdowns,
one pick. But for Sanchez, he's finally up to a
(44:18):
hundred passing yards one attempts. Nicely done, good job, good effort. Uh.
So we'll keep you updated here. It looks like somehow
the Redskins are not going to go for it on
fourth down. What the hell is the different? There's three
three minutes left, you're down there, down two touchdowns. It's
(44:39):
fourth and twenty four, and the Redskins are actually going
to punt. They're actually gonna give this game away and say, now,
fourth and twenty four, we can't make it. Let's punt, boy.
Those Gruden. Boys, really continue, you don't think you know
this is something Todd Bowles does. Yeah, no, no, no,
you know what. We're down two scores. We're just gonna punt. Yeah,
but it's only fourth and three. Yeah, now, we're just
(45:00):
gonna punt the ball away even here, I don't care
if you turn it down over on downs. What are
they doing. They're grinding the ball. They're not trying to
run up the score. Since it's style points where you're
trying to get into the college playoffs. Look at our
margin of victory. We need that four spot. No, they're
gonna grind out the clock and get out of here
without any more injuries, without any more issues thus far.
(45:21):
Josh Adams, who was questionable, he's got his eighteen carry
seventy nine yards, far bigger workload than you would have expected.
They're trying to get out of here in one piece. Ridiculous.
I don't understand. I never understand that philosophy of yeah,
we're just gonna punt because it's too it's too much
for us. Try to win the game, I mean, really
(45:42):
try to win the game. Yeah, just like Herman Edwards away,
I know. And it's like the Redskins have decided we're
gonna stop trying to win this game. And I I
that never fails to make me shake my head and go,
what are you doing? If you're the head coach, what
are you what are you really doing? Then it's if
it was college football, And but you know a thirty
(46:02):
thirteen loss is gonna hurt us in the final polls.
You know that, then I would understand a little bit.
But come on, try to win the game. Still two
scores down fourth, are you probably gonna get it? No,
of course not. You're probably not gonna get it. But then,
but the game's over if you punt it back to
them anyway, right, you're gonna you're gonna check down and
probably throw a pass underneath to Chris Thompson or somebody
(46:24):
that doesn't gain you the twenty four. But again, you'll
be inside of three minutes. And it's not like the
Eagles are gonna go, oh, you know, let's press press
down to where we have any kind of problems. They're
they're gonna try to go into let's you grind out
the rest of the clock. You don't bother calling your
time outs. The Redskins currently with two you got a
two minute warning. That's it finished the job. Instead you
(46:46):
punt it back. It makes no sense. We'll love more
on this game coming up again, the clock taking under
three minutes, and of course the Eagles just taken time
off and the Redskins not calling time outs point what
an awesome way to just quit on Monday night football.
Joe Tisman wondering a lot. Hey, who the Redskin is
gonna sign at quarterback? Meanwhile, Joe, you're next, Joe. I
think Joe's healthy. Now, I think Joe is healthy. I
(47:08):
think you get brown. You know, it's almost time for
one of our an annual visits with Joe. I remember
we had him on earlier this season and he see,
I just can't throw the ball anymore. Just I just
can't throw I just you know, you lose that. I
just can't throw the ball anymore. Like who's next? People
replying with pictures of Shane Falcon, Al Bundy, Jonathan moxon
(47:30):
your I'd like to see him with Jake Gruden and
get along famously. Ah, don't won't your laugh? Jain gonna
blame this loss on Colt McCoy's broken leg. Who way
to Kirk Cousins. Way to quit, Jake Gruden, way to quit,
Way to just say I'm throwing in the towel on
Monday Night football. Meanwhile, hey, speaking of throwing in the towel,
how about this play from yesterday? Believe it the on
(48:00):
Brown the time end only the fourth onside kick recovered
in the entire league this year. Let's see does O'Dell
Beckham charge the football or does he end up letting
it play him? The second row has to get the football.
He's gotta be over there right now and go get
this thing. So you charged out with like a shortstop
(48:21):
on a slow hit Grounder. You've gotta go get it.
And he's trying to Brown. You see with his hand,
he's trying to brush the ball over the sideline and
get through it. Why he's not trying to see that,
He's trying to swipe it through Daniel Brown. Brown's getting
the football and the Fars have hope. Good for you,
Charles Davison loves c d On that now. Unfortunately for
Mike Harmon, the Giants did go on to win in overtime.
(48:44):
I don't understand how you had that much. I gotta
do the thirty seconds how you had that much momentum,
and you you take the onside kick, you score, you
force overtime, you you do the Chicago Special for the
second time this year, Cohen with the touchdown, and and
then you give up defensively and just get absolutely gashed
for that game winning field goal. Absolutely confusing but fuddling
(49:07):
it happened, buddy, I'm sorry. I mean, I thought I
was the Jets. I was okay with it because I
picked the Giants as my upset specialist. I was all right.
But I feel bad for you, buddy, I fell for
I don't feel bad for me. It was just one
of those confusing kind of things. Is that you play
with so much heart you get the opportunity to play
extended football and come out of there with a win
after being dominated and playing terribly for a good chunk
(49:30):
of the game. Not to mention Matt Naggy, who got
no criticism whatsoever for calling a time out and allowing
Roses to hit that fifty seven yard field goal at
the end of the first half, right, and to give
up defense to give se Kwan Barkley twenty two yards
for your fantasy team. Just confusing. Well, all right, I
understand but giving up on the play number one, where
we're getting back to You're okay where you're at with
(49:52):
the Bears because you're winning and everybody else's employed. They
fired their coach, so you're okay. Patriots took care of
business and told Feeland to go blank. Here's Odell Beckham
who did not go after that ball yesterday. You've seen
the replay. He had a chance to try to dive
on it, but clearly he made a business decision in
not wanting to get involved with what could have been
(50:13):
a very physical play and allowed the Bears to recover
the fumble. After the game, despite the fact it looked
like you had a lot of heart, Odell Beckham said,
don't question my heart. It was a great kick. You know,
sometimes somebody makes a better play than you do. Uh.
You know we could I could dive in there and
still not get the ball, So you know, it was
(50:34):
a very tough call. Nobody should ever question my effort
on my heart. That's that's the last thing you can do.
You can question me as a person, as a man,
whatever you want to do, but my heart and my
effort can never be questioned ever. No I think I
can question your heart and your effort. I love in
the Middlebury. He just said, you might not have gotten it.
You might not have gotten it. They might have taken
it away, put a dope for it. But why they
(50:54):
might they might have gotten I mean, I don't know. Yeah,
you absolutely can question your heart and your effort because
you made a business decision and you decided to not
go and get the football. Now you can debate whether
he should have been where he was, where he should
have been, back further on the hand, whatever, But the
bottom line is he had a chance to go get
the football and secure a win, and he decided to
make a business decision because oh maybe I could get hurt,
(51:17):
and you know what, I'm gonna go Cam Newton in
the Super Bowl and decide not to dive on a
fumble to help my team. Absolutely, you question hard now.
I mean, it's it's amazingly arrogant that he decides to say, yeah,
after I didn't try for something, you can't question my
heart in my effort. It's amazing because people think I
can just say stuff now and some people will believe
(51:38):
it and it will sound like that's the truth. Meanwhile,
it was awful. But this is who Odell Beckham is.
He'd had such a good redemption all that. It was great,
it was awesome, and they got the win. But here
this is who you got when you paid for him.
I warned you many times, I said, you pay oh
(52:00):
all Beckham, You're gonna get great production, but you're gonna
have to put up with stupid crap like this. Sometimes
a lack of effort. Sometimes it's a lack of emotional stability.
Sometimes it's being a divisive influence. So you pay him,
this is what you get. I feel no sympathy for
the Giants because they knew for three weeks this preseason.
He didn't say anything, so the Giants thought, oh he
(52:21):
grew up. No, you paid him, You gave him this money.
You will get great production at times, to go along
with lack of effort, focus and emotional baggage, and obviously
not taking responsibility when a play he could have made
he decided not to make. I mean, that's what you
know about Odell Beckham. If he thinks, oh the possibility
that I could get hurt man, you don't know, he
(52:43):
won't go for the football and try to save it.
He Cam Newton did, and the fact that. He said, yeah,
I might not have gotten it, So no, don't think
I would have gotten it. So that would that happen?
On fourth down? They throw him and past he doesn't dive.
You know, I might not have caught it, So you
don't get mad at me for that. He's just that's
just absolutely brazen, and this is who you are. I
am glad my team doesn't have him. I'm glad your
(53:05):
team doesn't have him, and the Giants deserve what they're
getting with him and such a redemption story though right,
he spoke out, criticized play calling. I know people didn't
like that. Last week we celebrated it here the Jason
Smith Show with Mike arm In Here from the Geiko
Studios of Fox Sports Radio, we celebrated that saying, look,
you've got especially in that game, right, you had a
(53:27):
depleted Eagle secondary, a bunch of guys signed off the street,
nobody knew their names, and you're not pushing the ball
down field, he spoke out. Applaud said, all we can
control was trying to win each game, one game at
a time. We have to put the first half of
the season in the past. Great quote. I'm behind you.
You got it. Here's your opportunity. Seal the deal, seal
(53:48):
the win. You walk off with that football. You're the hero.
You get to do the Kuba Gooding Junior back from
the dead. Jerry McGuire raised the hand, there's the football
in the hand, and the crowd goes wild. That was
your moment. That was it. Or even if he doesn't
get it, you know what he would have won from
the other teams. That would have been oh'll look at
that effort. But because people putting his body on the
(54:12):
line would have gotten the love. Yeah, he would have
gotten drilled, there's no question about it. But but people
want to praise him, they want to say good things,
but he makes it really difficult because he does knucklehead
stuff like this, and people we would have went look
at that effort by Odell. Forget for a fact for
a second that you should go after the ball. It's
why you're on the field. You're not in the field
to try to swipe it away or go, hey, miss it. No,
(54:34):
you're on the field to try to make that place.
Everybody would have just gone crazy lauding the effort. How
about this for Odell, He's not just a high price
wide receiver. He cares, He shows heart, and the Odell
Beckham Redemption Tour would have continued, but instead, nope, he
shows us exactly who he is and exactly who he
is at heart. Hey comes down to it and I
could I'm not gonna really go for that. It's tackle football, man.
(54:55):
All all that good will, all of that redemption story
just throwing out the window. Twitter At how about a fresca?

The Redskins looking for answers. After playing pretty well the
first eight weeks or so of the NFL season, Alex
Smith breaks his leg in a horrendous fashion. They turned
to Colt McCoy The Redskin struggle Colt McCoy breaks his
fibula during tonight's game. Mark Sanchez comes in and plays okay,
throws a pick, gets hit a couple of times, but
(57:08):
is not able to generate any offense, and the Eagles
pull away in the second half with fourteen points in
the fourth quarter and they win it by the final Look,
I was never a big fan of the Redskins being
a team that could sustain their early season success. The
NFC East is a bad division. Well, and they went
and they lost player after player. You we talk injuries, nothing,
(57:30):
it's an excuse. They weren't terribly talented to begin with
the fact that they had to go and sign Adrian Peters. Look,
he had the highlight of the night, the ninety yard
touchdown run. Fantastic, that'll be highlight, real stuff. Finished with
ninety eight yards on the night. The point being that
you had to go and sign him. That's how how
much of an issue you had in your back field
(57:50):
and you're hoping to turn back time and he did
for one play, and that's great. That was the only
play you had on the entirety of this this game, right,
Josh Norman, I could he Redskins fans in my head,
going please take it back the distance because you're the
only offense we're gonna have the rest of the way.
I used to think so many times for the Jets
when they're offensive top I go, you gotta score. If
(58:11):
you don't score in this pick six, we're not we're
not scoring. Well, that was the Bears. Giant Yester is
like one of them is gonna get take it back
to the house, right, it has to happen. That's how
this game turns, no, And that's what you saw here.
Mark Sanchez was awful. He was There was no downfield threatened,
not that you're replete with great options downfield, right. He
did have the one play where it looked like Josh
(58:31):
Dotson was gonna pop free coming across the face of
the defense, that he was gonna be able to hit him.
Assuming he could hit him, he was gonna have an
opportunity to throw deep and then what happens He gets
blown up on the play. You never really saw a
great replay of it, but the impression was that the
impact was going to be coossal as linebacker hidiots like exactly, yeah,
(58:58):
that I mean you throw back there. So there was
the one play where it looked like they could have
done something downfield. Otherwise it was a little dink and
dunk and really no threat the rest of this game.
And now for the Eagles. All right, so you beat
the the Redskins, what are they? What are the Eagles?
Is still the question we're asking. We're finishing Week thirteen
and we don't know which team is showing up now.
(59:20):
The NFC still stinks. It just absolutely stinks. The Cowboys
are seven and five. They stink a right, they can't
win away from home, but they're playing well. They had
the big win over the Saints. They're at the top
of the division, deservedly so. But this division is not good.
The Redskins, I don't know if they win a game
with Mark Sanchez we talked about a few minutes ago.
(59:40):
Adrian Peterson had a ninety yard touchdown run tonight. He
finished with yards rushing. I mean, really, you couldn't get
to a hundred ninety yards and not I mean that's
what I want to see. Has anybody a running back
ever had an NFL game where he's had a ninety
plus yard run and not run for a hundred yards
in the game, Like is that? I'm sure it's happened.
How often does that happen? You know? And this is
(01:00:03):
this is what it is. Look, the Redskins, You're gonna
be watching Mark Sanchez play quarterback for the rest of
this season and that's where rest. But that's the point
is that's where we're at in this NFL season, And
again the Redskins have been decimated by injury. That offensive
line is just like we talked about the Eagle here.
It was another great example. Eagles are still depleted in
(01:00:23):
the secondary. You have no chance in hell of exploiting
it with this Redskins lineup. It's a little bit of
Jordan Reid, but that's it. The attempted dots and didn't work.
But you look at their offensive line absolutely in shambles
and a receiving core of second rate guys. How many
(01:00:45):
years has the Redskins offensive weapons been Thompson and Josh
Dotson And we're trying to figure out, I mean that
Jordan Reid still is healthy healthy, right, that's the first
time you've actually had him on the field every week.
But this is who the regimes have been tritting out
there for the past five years. They have not put
anybody of consequence out on the field offensively with a weapon.
(01:01:08):
We've draft some magic. He run. They've not done anything
with anybody. Yes, they had the they had the bad
break and guys got hurt this year in the preseason
and that that was really unfortunate cause they thought he
was gonna be good. But they have put no weapons
on this field in five years. Five years, they've had
a chance to sell it's a breakthrough for Josh Docson.
It's coming, it's coming. No, No, this team is bereft
(01:01:30):
of weapons and they can't score. That's you like bereft.
And now you throw out the Eagles and you know,
for a second, let's realize they're the least interesting defending
Super Bowl champion I think in twenty years. I mean
I I I failed to go back and find it.
And an NFL defending were Super Bowl champion. That's less
(01:01:52):
interesting than the Eagles. But that's where we're at. And
still they sit at six and six, and they have
problems because their weapons is zach Ertz and that's really it. Yes,
they have injury problems they've had. They got Carson Wentz back.
He's playing better than than he was. He's completing a
high volume of passes. He had a good night tonight
over three yards passing, but really, there they're a team
(01:02:14):
that's gonna struggle like this. You know, I'm done thinking, Okay,
the Eagles are done and they've and they've hit there,
they're breaking point now that he's gonna rip off wins. No,
it's gonna be nine and seven that wins this NFC East.
That that's how bad a division it is. Maybe it's
the Eagles, maybe it's the Cowboys, but you know it's
down to those two teams now because the Redskins are
(01:02:34):
just gonna free fall throughout. Not that they were gonna
go anywhere with Colton McCoy, but now you're onto your
third quarterback. And the only reason you signed Sanchez is
because you have some kind of familiarity with the coaching staff,
because I thought he could come in and pick things
up pretty fast. Well, as you saw tonight, he couldn't
pick things up. No, he didn't have reps. But still,
this is what you're staring at if you're the Redskins,
and with Sanchez's performance, immediately people start raising their hand, going, um,
(01:02:58):
what about that guy that used to quarterback in San Francisco.
Already but Eagles final schedule. We got a show down
with the Cowboys on Sunday and you're looking at Eagles, Rams, Eagles,
Texans and finished with the Redskins. So lose the next
three before you see right on the road at Dallas,

easy final month to try to upset the Cowboys here

But first deb Carson with what's trending d c Well,
the big news of the night, not just the final score.
Eagles with win over the Redskins. Redskins for the second
time this season, lose a quarterback to a broken leg.
Colt McCoy left the game in the second quarter right
lower leg had X rays. It's fractured fibula. He's done
for the season. Mark Sanchez will go the rest of
(01:04:04):
the way, and of course they'll be looking for a
backup quarterback for him. Both teams six and six, a
game behind. NFC East leading Dallas Eagles visit the Cowboys
next Sunday, while Washington hosts the woefull four and eight
Giants and other NFL news, Bengals are placing Pro Bowl
receiver A J. Green on season ending i R. In fact,
he's meeting with a specialist Tuesday. He's expected to need
(01:04:25):
surgery followed by a four month recovery. College football news,
the three Heisman Trophy finalists will meet in New York
Saturday night to find out who the winner is. The
finalists are all quarterbacks Ohio States sophomore Dwayne Haskins, Alabama
sophomore to a tungle Byla and Oklahoma junior Kyler Murray.
And finally, in the NBA, just one home team one tonight,
(01:04:47):
Timber Wolve shut down the Rockets one oh three, ninety one,
Nuggets held off the Raptors one oh six one oh three,
just the fifth loss of the season for Toronto. Wizards
beat the next one ten, one oh seven, Calves held
off the Nets nine at ninety seven, Warriors dumped the
Hawks thunder one at Detroit one three, and the Clippers
(01:05:08):
held off the Pelicans. Finally, Dodgers have given skipper Dave
Roberts a contract extension through the two season. Thank you,

Joining us now on the hot line. A man who
is buying up every ticket he ken to the Camping
World Bowl in Orlando to watch the Syracuse Orange take
(01:05:30):
on the West Virginia Mountaineers. Jason Locking for at Jane,
what's happening? Hey, what's going on? I honestly I kind
of I didn't even know who they were playing. That
is that confirmed? Yeah? Syracuse is back in a bowl
and Mark Sanchez is starting a quarterback? Is two thousand
and thirteen. Yeah, I want to get out of this time.
I like the Syracuse in a ballpark. But uh yeah,
(01:05:53):
we survived that. I did not fall asleep on the couch.
I give myself a lot of credit for that because
Mondays are usually long days after Sundays. But I made
it through that entire footballing atrocity. Yeah, what what's your
big takeaway from this game? Because we were just talking
about a few minutes ago, when it's the NFC still
stinks the Redskins will be lucky to get to eight
and eight. And you know the Redskins now they're gonna
(01:06:15):
sit and watch Mark Sanchez play quarterback for four weeks
and here come the Colin Kaepernick rumors again. Yeah, but
they won't sign him. I mean, I mean nobody has
even considered it. Which, uh, look, we're weeks away from
the start of this um proceedings. I mean, there's not
going to be a settlement. I reported a couple of
weeks back that they're deep into the scheduling phase of
(01:06:37):
his Kaepernick grievance and figuring out this owner can make
it to Philadelphia for the hearing on this day, and
this coach could be there that day, and this GM
and the commissioner like it's it's going to be, uh
quite a bleep show, and uh you know it's it's
gonna start early in and it's probably gonna take two
or three weeks to play out, and then we'll see
(01:06:58):
what Stephen Burbank, the system arbitrator, decides, if if you know,
there's there's calls for damages here and if if Kaepernick
prus his case. But I mean, we saw what four
or five teams last year just willingly torpedo their season
for the likes of Tom Savage and Brett Hunley and
um Brandon Weed and started the game less. You know,
(01:07:21):
like all that happened for teams that had legit playoff
ambitions before their quarterback got hurt. And you saw it
happen again this year. Um, we got to see some
more blame Gabbert. Um. That was fun. That was great. Um.
You know we were now seeing Mark Sanchez. You know,
somebody beat me over the head with a shovel, like
Nathan Peterman will get a job before Colin Kaepernick does.
(01:07:44):
But you're right, this is just all about football, and
I'm the one who's delusional. The National Football League Week
thirteen a lot of strangeness and certainly people bemoaning the
departure of Mike McCarthy from the sideline. Seems to me,
if you're done with the guy, and was seemingly done
with him, you only get so long before the Super
Bowl wears off. Right, Yeah, I mean, look, there's a
(01:08:08):
lot of ways you can sort of view that prism, right.
You can look at it through nine playoffs in eleven
years stretch, including I think four championship games and the Lombardy,
and then you could look at it through the last
thirty six months, which is ugly football and Aaron Rodgers
not performing near the level you would expect it and
(01:08:29):
friction amongst the staff and McCarthy. Look, anytime you have
to do what he did last year, he basically fired
his entire offensive staff, brought in a whole new offensive staff.
And we've seen the weebel wobbling in recent years between
is he gonna call players or isn't he? And how
much of it is he calling? And how much is
Aaron just torpedoing it at the line of scrimmage and
do whatever he wants to do anyway like that, that's
(01:08:51):
only sustainable for so long. And and if the the
guy is in the top five and completion percentage and
yards per attempt and touchdown interception race quarterback rating, then whatever,
it doesn't really matter. But that really hasn't been the
case this year, um. And there's been a lot of
I mean a lot of games where he's struggling to
hit two hundred yards passing and he's only completing and
(01:09:13):
fifty eight percent of his passes and he doesn't feel
picks and we know that, but this has not been
an Aaron Rodgers season. And I reported back in week
four that, I mean, numerous people who know both of
those particulars very well. We're thirdly convinced that these were
they're they're dying days together and there was no chance
that that coupling was together in en turns out they
(01:09:35):
didn't make it through. But I'm with you, guys, like
I understand that he would feel like McCarthy, it's disrespectful
and some degree to have this happen to him. But
three weeks from now, when he's with his family for
Christmas and his agents calling him every ten minutes, tell them,
you know, I think I can get forty eight million
guaranteed from this team. I think get fifty two from
that team. And he's able to sit back and assemble
(01:09:55):
the staff and pick and choose and really dissect the
field and figure out which jobs he's interested in, which
he's not interested in. Um. I think it's going to
be a positive for him in a lot of ways.
And take this month to recharge his batteries a little
bit um, you know, and and reconnect with people who
he rarely gets to see this time of year, and
and for them You're right, it was over It's been
(01:10:17):
over there for a long time. And now let's see
who they get to replace him. All right, now, let
me play NFL insider here because because here's the two
guys that I think it's gonna come down to in
the end, depending on on the health of one of
the guys. Because I don't think the Packers can go
and have Josh McDaniels have an offensive wisdom, and I
don't think that's a match for Aaron Rodgers where he's
at in his career. But he needs an offensive mind
(01:10:39):
who's come in with the cash, a that can get
the buy in. And the two names that keep hitting me,
you know in the head with who they are are
Bruce Arians and Gary Kubiak can obviously Kubiak's health depending
on if he can come back and be on the sideline.
It's interesting. Um, I'm with you on the McDaniels part.
I don't see that as a match for a lot
(01:10:59):
of reason. Um, I think if you look at what
the Packers generally do, Like who was Mike McCarthy before
they hired him, You know what I mean, Who's Mike
Sherman before they hired him? Who was you know, Holmegren
before they hired him, it was it was a young right,
a younger or at listen, two of those cases, pretty
young offensive mind who had been around a lot of
smart offensive coaches and had the sort of pedigree as
(01:11:22):
somebody on the rise. But they had to come in
and learn the Packer way. You know. They weren't bringing
people in who had multiple rings or had done it
a million times before to come in and say this
is how I coached the team. And especially with Mark
Murphy flexing his muscles there now and clearly the de
facto owner, I think they want somebody who will be
fairly malleable and who they think, you know, they can
(01:11:44):
kind of I won't say control, but I think the
way that powers delegated will probably change a little bit.
Um I hadn't thought about be a there. I think
he could do a great job with it. But there
is that health concern, and do we want to hire
a guy and then have to worry, you know, nine
months from now, if we're making a change again, and
do we have the next man up already on our staff. Kubiak,
(01:12:07):
I continue to hear he loves what he's doing in
personnel and while teams will come after him, I think
he'd make a ton of sense for the New York Jets,
where they're basically already running a version of his offense
with Jeremy Bates. Um But I just you know, and
he was with mcagnet in Houston. But I just don't
know at the end of the day that he's going
to do that. Um So I don't think. I honestly,
I'm not sure either of those guys coach in the
(01:12:29):
NFL ever. Again, but I like how you're thinking Gary
Kubia gets to walk around with a sign going. I
made sure we got Philip Lindsay to Denver, Jason Smiths
Show with My Garment here for the Geico Studios and
Fox Sports Radio on the Hotline with a CBS Sports,
NFL Inside or our buddy Jason Locket for you can
find him on Twitter. Add that very address at Jason
(01:12:51):
Lockett for his latest thoughts using ramblings on the National
Football League. All Right, we saw a wild one is
you know, with Kareem Hunt gone from Kansas City, they
still win. They still get the job done against Oakland,
probably a little closer than people like, but they win.
They bring in Shark Hendrick West, So we got a
little bit of that, and then we had Chargers Steelers
(01:13:11):
fighting for the who gets to to charge charge up
for lack of a better term, to try to challenge,
and the Chargers come away with a very curious and
can oftentimes confusing victory. Can they catch them? You know,
it's not out of the it's not out of the
room of possibility, it really isn't. They have one more
(01:13:32):
head to head game left that's obviously utterly imperative for
the Chargers to win that game at Arrowhead, which won't
be easy. But really that you go back to week
one when they played and we didn't know exactly what
Patrick Mahomes was yet, and obviously Bosa wasn't playing, you know,
there was the Charges were dealing with a lot of
stuff at the time, um, and they found a way
to sort of lose that game, as they have tended
(01:13:55):
to do in recent years. But a lot has changed.
Eric Berry um not be surprised at all if he's
back for the Chiefs this week against the Ravens, and
then that gives him a little bit of time to
get his legs under him before they before they face um.
You know, Philip Rivers and what's going to be a
very different passing attack than what they'll see from from
the Ravens team that wants to basically play rugby and
(01:14:16):
run it down your throats, which makes sense. It's it's
that's the only viable path they have on offense right now.
So I don't, I look, I really like the Chargers.
I thought the Chargers would win that division. I picked
the Chargers. Um, I know, I at least had him
in a f C championship game. I may have had
him in the Super Bowl. I really kind of felt
like this could be their year. I loved the roster
as it looked on paper. You know, in in August
(01:14:39):
into September. Um, they've tended to avoid catastrophic injuries. So
I don't, I mean, look like, eventually, I think Philip
Rivers is gonna win some really big games and that
defense can travel, and Melvin Gordon may miss another game
or two. We'll we'll see, but but I don't expect
that injury to be long term. Him. Um, they're not
(01:15:01):
going to be a fun out in the playoffs. Now,
we'll see if they have to go somewhere and play like, look,
if they have to go to Foxborough in a snowstorm,
you know what I mean, in a blizzard. It's probably
not their year, but they could. It's not out of
the question to your point, that they win the division,
and wouldn't that be something playoff games in a thousand
seat soccer stadium at eighteen thousand, eight hundred and nine
(01:15:24):
people are rooting for the other team. You can follow.
That's the Chargers right there right there on Twitter at
Jason Lock and for Jay is always buddy, appreciate it.
Thanks for staying up with us. I know it was
tough in that fourth quarter, but you had to see
how things ended for Mark Sanchez, and I appreciate if
you were the light at the end of my tunnel.
(01:15:45):
You got me through that game. Thanks. I'm gonna put
that on my uh the wind beneath my wing, God speed.
We got it. We got him through the game. Yeah,
I gotta do the interview. I gotta tell me, I
gotta get through things like talking to those guys. Watch
sand great stuff there from Jason Locking for the Jason

Adam feeling all that more coming up next and right now,

Best Friend Mike Harmon, We're on Mark Sanchez Overload. He's back.
It's gonna be the quarterback the rest of the year
(01:16:48):
in Washington. Yeah, we tease him a lot, but we
got him on the spot. I mean, I feel like
Kyle Mclock when the end of Twin peaks, the TV
show that just aired last year? What year is this?
What year is this? What year this? Mark Santez's back
and starting in the NFL. He had played two games
(01:17:11):
for the Cowboys and he was ten of eighteen with
two interceptions ninety three yards. Signed with the Bears, did
not play for them. And now we're back with the Redskins.
Here plays today. He will roll in next week. Right now,
there are fifty players in the National Football League who
have thrown for over a hundred yards. He's one of them,
(01:17:36):
along with Odell Beckham Jr. Of course, hey, hey, Odell
will fall on an on side kick as long as
there's nobody else around and maybe touch him, all right,
he will that. Meanwhile, just this for a couple of seconds.
The big back and forth yesterday between Bill Belichick and
Adam Feeling has gained a lot of headlines. We love
more in the Monday night game coming up in ten minutes.
(01:17:57):
But after a play in which the Vikings converted a
first down against the Patriots in the second half, Bill
Belichick was accused of basically cheating by Adam Feeling because
the play was close. Patrick Chung goes down with an injury.
Adam Feeling figures, this is the way they get to
(01:18:17):
look at the play to see if they want to
throw a challenge flag. He goes over and tells Bill
Belichick fertilizer, and Bill Belich just says, oh, yeah, I
got fertilizer for you. They go back and forth at
it and things flair from their Patriots win the game
and afterwards, Adam Feeland did not back down from what
he thought was a cheap play tactic by Bill Belichick.
(01:18:38):
I just thought the play was cheap. I wasn't directing
towards him. I just thought the play was cheap. But
like I said, let the motions get the best of me, because, um,
it's a smart football play. If if you are in
that situation, why not it's not it's not cheating because
there's no one there's no rule against it from a
guy going down and and I don't know if he's
hurt or not. He might have been hurt. That's that's fine,
that's says that is what it is. But like I said,
just interesting timing for a guy to go down when
(01:18:59):
it's Yeah, never had a teammate do that in all
these years playing football. Nobody's No, I'm not feeling a dent.
Oh wait, what's the time down in distance? Are you
kidding me? Well, it's not. Look, this isn't This isn't
soccer where people just go down come off the Okay, now,
I am all right, but let's just realize that a
(01:19:21):
play like this. And Mike Pereiro we talked him earlier
in the show, and he said, you know, you have
to just default to the player because it could be
a broken fibula, it could be something bad for the guy,
and you have to make sure the player is okay.
This is something that clearly teams take advantage of, and
the Patriots are not the only ones. But this is
what I mean when I say, do you really think
(01:19:43):
Spygate was, Well, that's all the pages we're doing that.
Doing anything else, then you have to flate gate. Nah,
that's all they're doing. They're trying to push the rules
at every single boundary. They can go back to the
formation when they have and the Ravens got all upset,
Hey you can't do that, but yeah we can, and
then they outlawed it. Right. But this is where they
(01:20:04):
push things legally and not legally, because this is how
the Patriots have kept a dynasty for almost the better
part of twenty years now, where everybody else has had
years where no matter how good you are, we've lost
a few games, we haven't won a division, we've gone
nine and seven. The Patriots don't do that. No matter
who they sign in free agency, no matter who works
(01:20:25):
out in the draft or not, they always find a
way to win those games. You can't tell me they're
not doing things like this across the board and haven't
been for the past fifteen years. Of course they have.
This is who they are, this is how they win games,
and it's how they become a dynasty for so many years,
unlike any other in the history of sports, where you've
had numerous changes with personnel, everything else, but one head
(01:20:47):
coach in one quarterback has been this good for the
better part of twenty years. Of course, the Patriots pushed
the rules and they cheat and they do things like this.
Other teams do it too, but not to the extent
where the Patriots are. They've taken into an art form.
I like the fact that you just randomly, as you're
making your point, you're you're rolling, and then you say
cheat and not push the rules, not not interpret the
(01:21:09):
rules and take to take advantage. No, no, no, it's cheap,
and you just slide that in. Now, the fact is
this one you want to call competition, sportsmanship, whatever else.
You can't prove the guy didn't have a twinge, You
can't everybody's everybody's playing injured, hurt, whatever term you want
to throw on it. And so the fact of the
(01:21:30):
matter is, yeah, if you can gain a couple of
seconds to get one more look see up in the booth.
Why wouldn't you? We talked about how important those challenge
flags are all the time, right, you only get two
of them, so make them count. Bill Belichick man account
and told that I'm feeling exactly what to do Twitter
at how about a fresco Mike at Swollen Dome. The
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmen coming
(01:21:52):
up and actually got more on Monday Night Football, the
reaction of the Eagles victory over Mark Sanchez and the
Washington Redskins. I'm just gonna keep saying Sanchez his name,
and the biggest NFL story the last four days has
a brand new twist to it. All that more coming
up next Fox. Be sure to catch live editions of

(01:22:34):
latest on Kareem Hunt coming up in a couple of minutes.
But what you saw tonight was absolutely the truth. That
is happening. For the second time this season, Redskins quarterback
is fallen victim to a broken leg, will miss the
rest of the season. First it was Alex Smith. Tonight
it was Colt McCoy. McCoy walked to the locker room.
It's a broken fibula, and now the Redskins will ride
(01:22:57):
with Mark Sanchez. Yeah, buddy, you're excited. You were so
jacked up about it because we get to see the
butt fumble repeatedly, but fumble tomb with his but yeah,
he covered it up with his cheeks. That's right, that's
pretty cool. No, you know, you gotta sometimes give people
what they want. They were looking for a second version
of the butt fumble. Uh. And now we'll just see
(01:23:20):
if we get the hat trick in his next start.
You're gonna want to I look, I am am depressed
realizing that. Okay, I'm just now it's now a race
to the end of the season for the Jets. Maybe
Sam Donald comes back. The only thing I can hope
for is that Donald comes back healthy. This week and
he plays well the last three weeks, but I know
wholesale changes are coming. Todd Bowles again was fuming after
(01:23:43):
the loss yesterday. Stop me if you heard this one
before Jets lose. Todd Bowles fumes, Yes, there's no changes
coming everybody. They should get rid of everybody, clear it out,
get rid of everybody in New York because it's clear
you need something. But that's the other thing is they
keep coming back to, well, this is not a guy
in mcagney like and whatever else, like, does it matter
(01:24:04):
hes going to He brought the players in that won't listen, right,
So not all of it's on Todd bolls, but players
won't listen to on discipline. He brought those players in.
He's not proven. He's a good personnel, you know what,
Hang on a deep But this is what I mean
when I say I don't have to watch Mark Sanchez
play quarterback exclusively for me the last four weeks of
(01:24:25):
the season. So there is that for me. As you
see six and ten staring you in the face in Washington,
Mark Sanchez again, if the world ended in fire, ice, plague, zombies,
vampires or werewolves and like that, we're adding caveats to this.
You can add more how's the world ending? There's your
(01:24:46):
there's your poll question. Who said how's the world ending?
And how about a fresco? Why can't the world end
with werewolves? Why can't you play with werewolves? Why could?
And Hugh Jackman's out there trying to hunt them down
just because wear Wolds are as cool on camera as
vampires or zombies. But that's not true the formation. I mean,
go back to American werewolf in London. That's it ground
(01:25:06):
that's but that was groundbreaking. And vampires that's all. And
there's it's sexy vampires. The only time the zombies were
cool were World War Z because sudden they were fast on. Well,
I always like the fast on. It's a different element.
It's just a zombie. Wait, he's up on you like
a cornerback clothing. You gotta get separation. But it's like
(01:25:33):
in Front of the Thirteenth part two, when Jason Vorhees
is running fast, It's like, wow, he's fast. After come on, man,
I think they misread the scriptures. They didn't have time
for a reshoot that day. I don't like that. I
like when the guys are slow. It's lumbering and methodical.
I don't like the fast ones. I like with you,
all right, but this is how the world will end.
(01:25:56):
The world could end. Isaiah Thomas will take control of
the Knicks again, and Mark Sanchez will be starting at
quarterback somewhere. There will still be football. It will likely
be Mark Sanchez playing and the Jets still finding a
way to lose. They will survive and they will lose,
and we'll find out Isaiah Thomas traded three months of
food in the apocalypse for Jared Jeffreys contract, and that
(01:26:17):
that those are the gonna be the big news items
that find its way from person to person because you know,
there's gonna be no more news because I'll be no
radio and TV and stuff. So you have to get
like word of mouth from people who are trying to
survive in the ice, like Tug Speedman at the end
of uh tropic thunder. Look at you, He's got the
two kids, and I mean, that's that's that's the end
of the world. Mark Sanchez will still be playing quarterback. Yeah,
(01:26:39):
it just keeps going, right. He last quarterback in for
the Cowboys was signed by never played for the Bears,
and now here he is week thirteen of your National
Football League season as the backup to a team challenging
for a division crown. Good luck we get to see.
The thing is I can watch Mark Sanchez now no
(01:27:01):
longer worried that he's gonna catch fire and lead a
team to a super Bowl, because initially I was worried
about that that was gonna happen with or Dallas, that's
gonna happen because you know what's gonna But no, I
don't worry about that anymore. Like no, now it's like
pressure free watching Mark Sanche and it is interesting to
watch that work. Certainly he just needs to go to
the Giants at some point so we can complete the
(01:27:21):
cycle of that would be awes. So we can finish
the and then he finish with the race. That would
be good. Give him this. I was just more thinking
he can finish the entire NFC. Easton put that on
his trophy case. That would be fun. But this just
kind of showing where you're we're at with quarterbacks for
this year. Right now, we're at I think it's fifty
one guys now with you add him that had thrown
(01:27:44):
for at least a hundred yards this season Odell Beckham Jr.
Had heard six just we keep rolling through quarterbacks and
a team that's in a fight for the division, showing
how much they've abandoned the season. Even before this loss,
they had an updated the website to include him on
the depth chart. There was depth chart page still had
(01:28:05):
Alex Smith and Court McCoy. There was no egg with
the outline of someone's head even like we gotta we
haven't put the headshot in yet. It's not not not
even that still cult McCoy, just ridiculous. J Schrader will
be uh, work out a little bit. Billy Kilmer will
also come in night that she can still sling it.
Just trying to think of all the guys. Can we
get Martin Brunel back, Yeah, I probably could. They probably
(01:28:29):
couldn't get after it a little bit. Yeah, Jeff Hosstetler,
Hoss might commit and it's Hoss j D dj naicely
done twitter at, how about a Fresco? Mike gets swollen
done the Jason Smith Show with my bass friend Mike Harmon. Meanwhile,
(01:28:54):
the saga of Kareem Hunt has taken a different turn
in the past few hours. Hunter was released by the
Chiefs on Friday, after the release of a video which
showed him hitting, kicking, running into, knocking over a woman
from an incident in February, he was placed on waivers
(01:29:16):
by the Chiefs was released. He went through the process
this weekend unclaimed by any NFL teams. He is still
on the Commissioner's exempt list, which means he's not eligible
to play, but he went through unclaimed. We talked about
this with Alex Marvez on Friday. He said, someone's putting
in acclaim for him, and we said, I said, I
can't see it. This is too close to what happened
(01:29:38):
with the Redskins putting in the claim for Reuben Foster,
and you see how awful that was. I can't see
a team doing it now. As good as he is.
This is so fresh. The video is really really bad.
I can't see it happening. And now no one has
put an acclaim for him. Tonight, TMZ breaks another story
saying that Kareem Month was involved in another bar event.
(01:29:59):
Uh sorry, it was it all another dispute, this one
at a bar in January, where a man claims he
was beat up by a group that included Kareem Hunt
and former NFL running back George Atkinson. So now that
story is out there as well. So this is where
we're at for Kareem Hunt. And I said, there's no
way a team claims him, and they're not. And still
you're waiting discipline from the Commissioner's office, and likely it
(01:30:21):
will be a long suspect. You would think it would be,
because the NFL still finds a way to blow very
easy moral decisions. No, no, no, no no. We found
out this weekend the chiefs wanted to look at the tape.
The NFL dissuaded them from going after the tape. They
also did not talk to Kareem Hunt, did not talk
to the woman involved when they conducted their investigation in February,
which is what you would do if you were really
(01:30:42):
trying to get to the bottom of something, but they didn't.
I mean, you can try to gloss up and try
to hot take stuff all you want and try to
well the NFL, but the bottom line is if you're
investigating something, you talked to Kareem Hunt, you talked to
the woman, you try to get the video. You don't
dissuade a team from getting the video saying we got
it because but the NFL was doing the saying, don't
go crazy, we got it. Meanwhile, we're just gonna get
(01:31:04):
you off the set so we can move away from
this story. Because the NFL clearly did not try to
go after this in in some ways. I mean, they've
number of reports said that there were numerous uh extending
of invitations to the woman in question to talk either
to the NFL at the time and certainly even after
(01:31:25):
the fact, now that this has come to light between
ESPN and other news sources and at this point hasn't
come forward. The the concerning part is that the Chiefs
just said, okay, we passed it up like he's still
on your roster, and we brought up on Friday the
tire Tyreek Hill angle of him still playing UH. And
and the look that that sends when you get into
(01:31:47):
this discussion when everybody tried to pack the Chiefs on
the back, uh. And in no point during their statement
of we've released Kareem Hunt did they note what he'd
done and what was on the videotape. Just that he lied.
We got rid of because he lied, not because of
this and for the NFL, you know, we That's the
other part is where where does the line stop in
(01:32:08):
terms of them as an investigatory unit. And now when
as this story takes its turn, because now the NFL
is gonna be under fire because they've blown it again,
what's the future for Kareem Hunt? And it remains what
we told you was gonna be on Friday. Eventually he'll
be back in the league, probably sometime in What's going
(01:32:31):
to happen is there's no way a team is gonna
take him now. So any team that's interested in him
will wait till the off season because there's no way
he's gonna be cleared enough to play the rest of
this regular season. It's not worth it for any team
to go through the bad pr they're gonna have by
signing a guy who, hey, look at this. He just
knocked knocked over woman, almost knocked around, kicked her, pushed her,
(01:32:51):
and yeah, we're gonna sign him. So here's what's gonna happen.
The off season will go on and we will get
further away from this story, and Kareem Hunt will find
out what his discipline is going to be. Is it
gonna be four games, is it gonna be six games,
whatever it's gonna be, And a team is going to
reason and they're gonna look at the video and say,
you know, it wasn't as bad as ray Rice. You know, yeah,
(01:33:15):
he pushed her, but then she hit some back. He
didn't technically hit her. He kind of pushed his friend
into knocking her over. He didn't really kick or he
kind of kicked at her. Look, teams are gonna find
all kinds of ways to make themselves all right with
and make a bargain with themselves, and it's okay to
sign Kareem Hunt. I disagree, but this is what's going
(01:33:36):
to happen. And then after things go away, sometime in
the off season, during a dead period, a team will
sign him and they will go forward. They will take
whatever heat they get and realize that, Okay, now we're
moving on, because eventually they're gonna know, Hey, our fans
are gonna come around to we need a guy to
run the football if we're gonna be successful. So you
(01:33:56):
can be mad for a while and be upset that
we signed him. By the time we're gonna on to
the draft or after or camp, and Kareem Hunt his
back running and looking great. This is a guy that's
one of the best running backs in the NFL. People
are gonna say, okay, great, Yeah, we're good. We're good.
We're good. We're good. We're good. Yeah, it's awesome. Yeah,
we're good. Michael Vick came back and played quarterback for
the Eagles. He was embraced as much as he needed
to be to play before he wound up being out
(01:34:17):
of the league. So it's going to happen. He will
play again sometime in ten, and it will come into
focus clear after final discipline goes against him and we
get to a point in the off season where a
team will be okay with putting in a claim signing him.
It's not going to be a big deal. You're not
gonna have to spend a lot of money on Kareem
because he needs to take whatever gig is out there
so we can get back and redeem himself and he
(01:34:40):
will play again sometime in twenty nine. Oh, there's no question.
It's just a question, uh for the league US if
you can of how they actually apply the disciplinary personal
player conduct policy that's come in into existent these last
couple of years in the post Ray Rice world. I
mean that's only two thousand fourteen and we've got four
(01:35:00):
years of incidents that have gone through the press, that
have been looked at publicly scrutinized, and they've gone all
over the map with how they apply discipline. Here's a
game for you, here's two games for you, Ezekiel Elliott.
There's no videotape. He got six right, we have tape.
We have at certain cases, you've had cooperating parties that
(01:35:27):
have talked to the league or talked to more officials
to get more of a sense of where things stood.
In this particular case, no police charges filed, tapes awful,
but they'll be able to say, well, there's no arrest
and it didn't get pursued, and here we go. And
that's the the million dollar question or in multibillion dollar
(01:35:48):
question for the NFL as to what their role is
in cases like this. They tried to come up with
the hard stance and they clearly haven't stayed to that.
They still haven't stuck to that and and been true
to what their mission statement was after the ray Rise video.
So what where are they in terms of investigating do
they want to do it? Because if you don't want
(01:36:11):
to do it, then take it out of the policy
and be done. With it. If you're not charged with
a crime and you you haven't done you know, you're
not actually incarcerated, and maybe you just get to play
and maybe and maybe that's you know, one of those
things going forward. I know this is well, that's the
thing is you bring up a great point because it
you get to the point now where there's so many
(01:36:31):
players playing in the league that they're hard to root for,
but they're there and we're still Look, we haven't talked
about Adrian Peterson tonight because I don't want to talk
about a guy who's admitted Yeah, I still beat my
kids with with whatever. Right I was two weeks you know, right,
that was a big article that came out. It's become
more prevalent to have bad people and people who have
(01:36:51):
done bad things in the league, whether it's Tyree Hill,
whether it's Kareem Hunt with and we're getting used to it.
So you're just gonna see that happen. So of course
the Kareem Hunt is gonna play get in the NFL,
and they're gonna find a way he's gonna play next year.
Of course it's gonna happen. Well, and that's when we
when we talked about this at the initial part on
Friday as this was developing, was for the league, you know,
did they get into and Alex Marvez when he joined us,
(01:37:13):
Like does the league start paying for videos? Where's where's that? Right?
And the the implication implications of that, Who are you
getting them from? Right? There's there's a lot of speculation
as to where this tape surface. Did it come from
the police, did it come from the hotel? What's going on?
Because if it came from the police and it got
paid for, now we got a whole other set of
legal circumstances and the NFL, you know, you're starting to
(01:37:35):
open yourself up to a lot of of other questions
about how you conduct your business. Twitter at how about
a fresca Mike at swollen down the Jason Smith Show
with my base friend Mike Harmon. You're there from Mark
Sanchez coming up in less than fifteen minutes. He is
just meeting the media following his extensive first action with
the Washington Redskins. But coming up next we'll have the
(01:37:58):
right conversation about the college football playoff. Tonight show brought
to you by Discover Card. We treat you like you
treat you. This is Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike
Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app Fox
(01:38:20):
Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. We'll get to a real conversation about the
college football playoff in a second. However, this bit of
news has just come in. Yeah, buddy, get ready, Magic Johnson,
(01:38:43):
we'll coach the like. Magic Johnson has gone to Las Vegas.
This report from Jeff Passon at Yahoo Sports. Why has
Magic Johnson gone to Las Vegas. He's buying a casino,
wants to play keeno. Magic Johnson has gone to Las
Vegas leading. He just watched the number go whoo pa,
(01:39:08):
whooo whoop. That's like a game that I'll enjoy, like
when I'm eighty. Hey, look, look, I think just goes
right in his lands and goes Magic Johnson has led
a Dodgers delicate to Las Vegas to meet with Andre
They have led a Dodger's contenent to Las Vegas and
(01:39:32):
today met with Bryce Harper about potentially signing with the Dodgers.
According to Jeff Passons article. The White Sox, White Phillies,
Yankees are at the top of this list, but now
add the Dodgers to this long list of teams pursuing
(01:39:54):
Bryce Harper. And for anybody who thinks Bryce Harper is
not going to get his money, obviously he's going to
get his money, you got a handful. I mean, that's
just the tip of the iceberg. In terms of teams
that want to at least get a seat at the table.
They're saying one, it's at least a dozen teams or
they're about uh that are finding their way to Nevada
to meet with him. I mean we're not talking three
(01:40:14):
or four. You're talking to a dozen teams at least
want to be able to give their pitch. That's a
pretty big deal. Cubs in the Padres want to check in.
The Nationals are going to get back, Astros and Cardinals.
Probably you're gonna get involved as well, because Bryce Harper
really likes those teams. So you're talking about a third
of Major League Baseball. It's going to try to be
(01:40:36):
quote in on these negotiations. And the best part of
it is, look, I've told you before, I'm not going
to spend that kind of money, it's not worth it
on one player in baseball, Bryce Harper is not worth it.
The image of having Bryce Harper is better than the
reality of Bryce Harper. He's knocked in a hundred runs
into season once, he's injury prone, he doesn't hit for
high average all the time. Look at look at what
he is the past six years, and you realize giving
(01:40:58):
this guy three or four hundred million is not going
to be good for your team. But think about how
exciting this process is going to be because for you
and I and everybody where is he gonna end up
that's great theater. Well, and think about we're here in
Los Angeles, for us locally, it's gonna make everybody go
a little bit crazy, right And if he actually shows
(01:41:19):
up here. Next level for me, the White Sox that
are bringing Jim Toma in and they're having him talk
to him. He works for the team and does stuff.
Certainly in Chicago looking to get a big splash and
take away a couple of headlines from the Cubs every
now and again. So those two stories, but just for
baseball to have a story like this that becomes and
it cuts through the clutter of Monday Night Football, an
(01:41:41):
NBA slate. Everything that's going on, that's kind of a
big deal. And look who winds up with him. And
really the sheer number of teams isn't going to shrink
because mainly it's these teams are involved because they have
the money to spend. Everybody knows what you're not getting
in going, Hey, you know, if Price Harper is gonna
(01:42:02):
take like four years and a hundred million, we'll give
it to him. You know he rejected ten years. You
know what it is. You're not walking into a high
end boutique going maybe I'm gonna find a clearance sale
and there's gonna be something in the back and I
can get a nice leather purse. That's no, you're not
gonna be Auntie if this pokers you know, poker game
is a lot higher, and you know, if you have
(01:42:22):
the most money, you have a chance. Why because Scott
Boris is never going to take less money. He's going
even if even if his client says, well the Astros
offered me three fifty million, but I really want to
go to the Cardinals. They're offering three ten. Scott Boards
are gonna say no, no, no, no, no, you need
to go, I need to win this because it's really
(01:42:44):
about me. No, no, you're you know, it's like it's
like going you have to leave the on Bell. If
you have the most money, you will be there all
the way up until the end. So for the white
do you think all the white socks have a chance?
If the white socks say, hey, about three million and
the next close to three five, guess where Harper is
gonna sign. He's going to yours Chicago White Sox or
the Padres or whoever's gonna give him the most money.
(01:43:06):
That's where he's going to go. But you brought up
Levy on Bell there for a moment. What do you
think his camp felt about the Kareem Hunt release and
we're talking about how much money guys, he thought, Hey,
that's a landing spot for me. I can yeah, but
a but also now there's the market as well. Yeah,
but but it doesn't even if it takes Kansas City out,
(01:43:27):
He's not yet. It's it's tough for to sign Kareem
Hunt than it is to sign Levi, No, no question.
No one's gonna with a skill set. But you're you're
trying to get buy in a bargain and and catch
in and and catch cash in with Karee Hunt because
you don't have to pay him. He's talented and young,
(01:43:48):
he's getting somebody is going to, you know, pay him
and pay him long term seventeen or more per year,
no question about it. But this to see where he goes.
Just that, that's how much fun it's can It's just could.
I would just if I'm if I'm trying to get
Bryce Harper on, I just show up and just start
throwing money at the table with him. No, just keep it.
This is not even recruiting. Might not just keep it.
Just keep it. As more of that came from because
(01:44:10):
think about the I love it. Because if you want
to think about where you want to go free agency,
you want to go to a different destination, or you
would not have turned down the Nationals where they are
you want a lot of money, because you would not
have turned down three million dollars for ten years. So
you know, there's certain things that Bryce Harper wants, and
there's certain things he's communicating through the media, which is
(01:44:30):
what he wants. Hey, I don't want Washington because they
would give me about what I want and ten years
and three hundred million yeah, No, I don't know that.
I want that. It's gonna be more money. Some places
are gonna pay. It's like he's Levy on Bell. Do
you think Magic Johnson when he arrived in Nevada was
a wearing a Lebron James jersey and be had he
had Lebron James take a message from Magic. Oh that's
(01:44:54):
part of the recruitment. Look and look what we're doing.
We got this team. And do you really do you
really think Lebron would say Magic got me to come
to l A. If Lebron was telling the truth, the
message would go, Hey, Bryce Braun, Hey l A is
fun man. I was coming here anyway. I mean there
was no good free agency pitch or anything, and the
roster wasn't that good, but I decided to sign up
(01:45:15):
because you know, look it's l A dude, show up.
It'll be fun. No. No No, he's a salesman. He's a salesman.
I want the Charles Barkley. I am not a role
model sales pitch. I want the If James. If you
buy these sneakers, it's not gonna make you jump like
me or play basketball like me. It'll just make you
have sneakers like me period. I get that. That's not James.
(01:45:37):
He didn't try to sell you a cranberry spright or
whatever the hell he ever. Cranberry it's so good. I
love cranberries bright. That's delicious, more free so you can
sound effects like that. You wonder why it's hard to
stop drinking diet soda. It's hard to get you. Oh,
they have a you know you go to the movies
(01:45:57):
now and and they have the whole you know that
commercial where they have you been to the movies where
they do the whole Oh, science fiction movies never win
awards all, but this one will because I hear the
aliens look just like Nacho cheese, and and they have
the end when they pour the soda at the end,
and it just looks like it's the most desirable thing
that co commercial. Oh you just you watch the soda
just fill in with the ice cubes and you see
(01:46:19):
the effort vescence and it sata. That's right, Twitter and
aw about a Fresco Mike hat swollen dome again. The
Dodgers send a contingent to Las Vegas to meet with
Bryce Harper Today. The Bryce Harper Derby is on St.
Louis Cardinal fan Nelly evidently met up with Bryce Harper
(01:46:41):
as well. Are they making love on a better class? Sorry?
Coming up in one minute, you'll hear from Mark Sanchez
following his night for the Washington Redskins in the loss
of the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. But first,
it's Dev Carson with what's trending DC? Hello? Well, in
that Money Night football game, the Eagles improved a six
(01:47:02):
and six maybe the Redskins in Washington also six and six,
both a game behind NFC East leading Dallas in the division.
Big news though Colt McCoy suffered a right lower leg
injury the team later found out was a fractured fibula,
so Mark Sanchez had to go to the distance. In fact,
he will likely be their starter for the rest of
the season. They'll have to bring in somebody else as well.
(01:47:23):
Sanchez only signed with a team two weeks ago after
Alex Smith suffered his own injury. In college football news,
we have three Heisman Trophy finalists this year. They are
all quarterbacks, Ohio State sophomore Dwayne Haskins, Alabama sophomore to
a Tango Byla and Oklahoma junior Kyler Murray mean while
NBA news the Bulls have fired head coach at Fred Hoiberg.
(01:47:46):
Bulls five and nineteen on the season online car shopping
and be confusing not anymore with true Prize from True Car.
Now you can know the exact precial pay for your
next car. Visit True Car to enjoy a more confident
car buying experience. Dodgers have given Dave it's a contract extension.
He'll be the Skipper for the next four years through
two season at least that's what his extension is worth.
(01:48:08):
And you guys just mentioned it. Yeah, who's Jeff Passon
reporting that Magic Johnson is reportedly part of a Dodgers
contention who went to Vegas trying to recruit free agent
Bryce Harper to sign with l A. The White Sox
reportedly enlisted Jim Tomay to try to sway Harper to
sign with Chicago. Billy's and Yankees are also trying to
land Harper. No word on who they try to use
(01:48:28):
as bait. Guys, d Live from the Geico Studios where
fifteen minutes Gonna save You fifteen center more car insurance
called nine seven Autumn, So we'll have more on Bryce
Harper coming up later on, because his recruitment is going
to be absolutely insane. Really, a third of the league
is going to get in on Bryce Harper. Not as
(01:48:48):
many will get in on Mark Sanchez, but he is
one of the big stories of the night tonight, as
he will be the quarterback for the Redskins down the stretch.
Colt McCoy broken fibula, leaving the game to night he
has done for the season. It will be Mark Sanchez
who directed the red Skins to twenty nine yards of
offense in the second half as the red Skins turned
(01:49:10):
a fourteen thirteen nail biter into a defeat. Here is Sanchez,
still in the league, still playing, a few moments ago,
meeting the media following the loss. I mean, I can't
tell you how much I respect those guys in there.
Um uh. I can't name all of them who came
up to me, not just because I'm new, but all
(01:49:31):
the guys who came up to me like, hey man,
hang in there, you're good. We get it, we understand,
we know you're a vet, but we understand we'll rally
for you. You're gonna do great next week. And that
I mean for a new guy. On a team that, Um,
that feels good because it's like the you know, first
day of high school, where do I sit at lunch
kind of thing? You know. So, um, there's there's a
lot of that going on, but I think we'll be
(01:49:51):
just fine. And we just gotta work hard, put our
head down and work hard and challenge each other, and um,
go out and play our best. Mark that second dry
you were in after Ape's long run, you got into
a rhythm, completed five straight balls. What did you like
about that drive? And is there any kind of it
was right before half, right before we got a field.
(01:50:11):
I mean, yeah, the two minute drives. Um, it's funny
too because especially being home, um, for I don't know
how many weeks, ten weeks of the season. You know,
you watch football with people and they're just like, gosh,
these guys right before half and at the end of
the game, they just roll right down the field. Why
don't they do that all game? And I'm like, well,
it's not that simple. You know. It's not a two
(01:50:33):
minute defense. It's not a soft defense and an easy
kind of zone defense where they're giving you balls underneath
and uh and and you can make some throws and stuff,
So it's it's not always that situation. Those situations I've
always enjoyed UM where the offense is I mean, you're
really on the offensive, you're really trying to attack and
(01:50:53):
and the defense is kind of on their heels a
little bit when you get a little tempo going. So
that's always fun. Um. But listen, we knew, uh, we
knew we had to get a couple of yards and
at least get a field goal. We accomplished that. So
that was one of the good takeaways from the game,
and we'll build on that. There's excitement, and there's Mark
Sanchez answering questions for the first time where people want
(01:51:18):
to hear actually what he has to say in years.
He was so excited, so he started answering those questions
and oh, it's like the first day of high school. Winner.
I said all this. The second guy asked the question
in Sanchez candy let him finish the question. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah yeah, yeah, so yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.
The second drive, yeah yeah, can I talk now, because
because like the cameras arerob me and this is so exciting.
(01:51:40):
He is so happy that people I want to know
what I have to say, should I take a screenshot
of Twitter right now? He's number one on United States trends. Oh,
I'm sure he's got I'm I'm sure that's up. I'm
the line underneath it's framed. Yeah, the return of Mark
Sanchez was quickly upstaged by Adrian Peterson. But that's okay.
He's number one. He's over the new trailer from Captain
(01:52:00):
Marvel that we saw as part of the broadcast. He's
over Jason Witten, who's getting some criticism for something he
said when they obviously ad libbed around the Reuben Foster
addition by the Redskins. We'll get into that, uh mccoin late.
I mean, he's he's number one with a bullet and
he's fired up. He's excited to talk to reporters. Remember
(01:52:22):
that drive. Let's talk about that drive. Look, there's excitement,
there's Mark Sanchez. There's the Captain Marvel trailer, which was
actually pretty cool. There was pretty cool. I mean, you know,
I feel like we're in that guph of waiting for
another good Marvel movie. It's been like, okay, we're because
we're used to a good Marvel movie like every four months.
It's goes Wow, it's been a while since Avengers, and
all right, we had ant man in the Wasp and
(01:52:44):
now a man and Man versus the Wasp. Now we
gotta wait till March to see this. But this looks
really good. I mean, Captain Marvel looks really fun. But
then that Benning joins the Marvel universe. They they broken everybody.
She Bree Larson's mom, don't know if she doesn't, And
on IMDb she does not have a character name assigned.
(01:53:05):
Probably bre Larson's mom. Yeah, in the in the trailer,
she's the one talking at her when they're you know, zapping,
She's like, she's like jorre l you know, yeah, little
Marlon Brando. She looks better than Marlon Brandon. Well okay, yeah, sure, yeah,
I'm wow, you made a made a leap right there
that I didn't think this from Mike Harmon, and that
(01:53:28):
Benning is more attractive than Marlon Brando, Marlon Brandon not God.
But I mean, maybe the day will come when you
fight a bunch of aliens on the moon and that
happens that way. But again, excitement for the Captain Marvel trailer,
an excitement for Mark Sanchez answering questions. As excited as
(01:53:50):
I was to see it, still not as excited as
Mark Sanchez answering questions, Mark, that second drive you're in
after aps long run and you got into a rhythm,
completed five straight balls. What did you like about that drive?
And is there any kind of it was right before half,
right before we got a field gold. I mean, yeah,
the two minute drives. Uh. Yeah, it's funny too because
(01:54:14):
especially being home, um for I don't know how many weeks,
ten weeks of the season. You know, you watch football
with people and they're just like, gosh, these guys right
before half and at the end of the game, they
just roll right down the field. Why don't they do
that all game? And I'm like, well, it's not that simple.
You know, it's not a two minute defense. It's not
a soft defense and an easy kind of zone defense
(01:54:36):
where they're giving you balls underneath and uh and and
you can make some throws and stuff. So it's it's
not always that situation. Those situations I've always enjoyed, um,
where the offense is I mean you're really on the offensive,
you're really trying to attack, and and the defense is
kind of on their heels a little bit when you
get a little tempo going. So that's always fun. Um.
(01:54:57):
But listen, we knew, uh, we knew we had to
get a couple of yards and at least get a
field goal. We accomplished that. So that was one of
the good takeaways from the game and we'll build on that.
Who knows if the guy even wanted to ask that question,
but Mark San yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm just gonna talk
about into the half. I just got just got it
right here. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I watch football, yeah yeah, yeah.
He's so excited, he's so good, excited back in the league,
(01:55:20):
back with an opportunity to play, and now it's his
ship for four games. Okay, I will say he's at
the helm of the ship. He is, Okay, he is
the cab metatorical ship that is all right, look out
because the yeah, sure things come in three and end
of the half. Two broken legs right and in the
half right right now, Well you know you're in charge
half behind the make shift offensive mind. That has its problem.
(01:55:42):
I'm at home. I'm at home, and you know i've
been and I just want to say I'm sorry you
were talking, but I was just gonna do with smart
Sanchez and just just oh, I just keep talking. I
really I was curious as where you're analysis was gonna yeah, yeah, no, yeah, yeah, yeah,
wat about it? Right about the drive drive drive? Was
the hand Mark Sanches. I'm talking listen that handoff to
(01:56:05):
Adrian Peterson. That was the best handoff I've ever had.
You know, guys asked me at home, how do I
hand the ball off? Like? Why can't guys hand the
ball off? Real clearly it's not that easy, but would
you hand the ball to Adrian Peterson? You gotta kind
of hand it to him. You give it to him,
you go. I feel like I did my part. That
the defense was out there, you know, I'm new quarterback
in there, all crowding the line of scrimmage. They're gonna blitz.
But I was able to hand that ball off and
he was able to. Mean look, I felt I did
my part on that play. I'm sorry. Was that your question?
(01:56:28):
That was my question? Yeah? Why was that the only
play that worked? After your arrival on to the scene,
Andy Mark, Adrian Peterson ran for nine touchdown Yeah yeah, yeah,
he ran for ninety eight yards in the game. Uh,
this press conference is over. I'm done. Done talking. I'm
done now, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. Now
just sounded like Jerry Jones. You played for Jerry before.
(01:56:51):
How did that work out for you? We had we
we called him the sand Chase and uh, I couldn't
sell any T shirts for that because you know, there're
too many interst options and then uh uh we had
to let him go. But you know, he'll always have
a place here at Valley Ranch, and he'll always be
a cowboy, just like Quincy Carter and uh, just like
(01:57:12):
Bill Parcels and the guy we had before, Tony Romo.
So they're all gonna be here and they're all cowboys,
and and UH sent them all out when I finished
with them playing and they were no good anymore. And
they all get fifty dollars in special Cowboys Bucks to
spend at the store and Valley Ranch before they leave
for penance hats Christmas gifts. Remember Holidays are coming up.
(01:57:35):
You might want to get some Cowboys Bucks and get
them to your family. So that's at cowboys dot com. Uh.
Coming up next, we will have a real conversation about
the college football playoff, the realist one there is. Following
the announcement yesterday this is Fox Uh uh uh Fox
(01:57:55):
Right broadcast partner, uh right, Fox Right. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike
Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific Fox
Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon coming up in ten minutes. Something about Colton
(01:58:15):
McCoy tonight that you're not gonna believe Colton McCoy. You
broke his leg in the game against the Eagles. Mark
Sanchez came in, finished up poorly. Now right, how many
how many yards of offense did the Redskins having the
second half? Well, it's twenty seven plus that final drive. Okay,
(01:58:37):
all right, just just trying to figure that out again.
Something insane about Colton McCoy coming up in about ten minutes.
But like super sleuthing, let's have well there's trigger words,
you know, super sleuthing, but insane. It's a trigger words
people think things, Oh it's insane, what isn't and it
is insane? Insane, insane, incendiary. But let's have a real
(01:58:57):
conversation for a couple of minutes about the college football playoff.
We know the Heisman Trophy finalists. They were announced today,
probably Tongabayola is going to win, but Haskins, Kyler Murray
certainly have had phenomenal seasons. Kyler Murray your early favorite
to win. Yeah, but probably in the end. But you know,
like I said, we'll wait and see. But now we
(01:59:18):
know the team's playing in the College Football playoff after
it broke yesterday, Oklahoma in the playoff. Oklahoma, Alabama, Clemson
and No. Tre Dame. Being left out is Ohio State.
And all day today I saw the wrong conversation being had,
which was does Oklahoma belong over Ohio State? And sure,
(01:59:39):
you want to make an argument, yeah, I think Oklahoma
is better than Ohio State, but realize the conversation we
need to be having is that you are splitting hairs
about who's going to the playoff, and you're breaking down
the one loss that Oklahoma has versus the one loss
that Ohio State was. The lost worse, Yes, but it
(02:00:02):
was a loss, it was one game. And the real
conversation is, here's a Power five team, the Big Ten
champion left out of the College Football Playoff despite the
fact they had one loss, and we had two of
the Power five conferences left out overall because Obviously the
Pact twelve didn't have a team in. This is why
(02:00:24):
the playoff needs to get to eight because every year
somebody like this gets left out. You have five Power
five conference unless're gonna do the whole Big John Calipari
realignment of four sixteen team conferences, that's not gonna help.
It needs to expand so everybody can get in. Because
you tell teams, all right, lose one game and you'll
(02:00:44):
get it. But now that's not the case. Ohio State
finishes just as good as anybody else does. Sorry, buddy,
I know there's a tough game this weekend for you.
That's all you can hop They still diversity comes you fight.
They still won. They one out. They beat the number
four team in the country and scored sixty three points
on them, and still they're left out. That's not right.
If you're splitting hairs about the sixty five through team
(02:01:07):
in the n c A Tournament field, all right, then
you're wondering, Okay, strank, but this is the top four
teams in the country, and you can't tell me there's
that that much of a difference. If there's one at
all between Oklahoma and Ohio State. The right thing to
do eight team playoff. Your five Power five champions get
in and you have three wild cards. That way, if
(02:01:27):
you don't win, you have a chance to get in
still because you have the bad luck of well, we
lost one game, but Alabama was so good in the SEC.
They win, we don't. We have one loss, we get
to go five power fives. Everybody is happy, and you
put three wild cards in u CF can get in.
Everything is fine. Well, it goes back to when we
initially got the playoffs set up. Everybody's like, all right,
(02:01:50):
it's better than the BCS, and they slapped each other
on the back, started counting their money, and then nobody
bothered to recognize that five is greater than four and
an't even account for all the incidences where Notre Dame
would be Notre Dame of old and run through their schedule,
or you'd have Central Florida have their monster season and
(02:02:11):
look good stylistically to where you're like, you know, outside chance,
puncher's chance, right, could they run the table in a big,
big playoff system? Probably not, but give him one shot?
Why not? But so when when you started this, when
you had five grader than four, you already screwed this up,
but you'd already said in motion that it was going
(02:02:33):
to expand. Whether it goes to six teams and you
get buys or you go to eight teams, the inevitability
is there. Wait, more TV, more money, Let's go twitter
at how about a frescup, Mike at Swollen Dome? Coming
up next, the insanity about Colt McCoy and I'll tell
you Who's gonna wind up coach of the Packers. Fox.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
(02:02:54):
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific Fox Sports Radio AH live from the Geico Studios,
where fifteen minutes can save you more in car insurance.
More information visit Geico dot com. Final hour of the show,
(02:03:14):
I'll tell You Who's Gonna wind up coaching the Green
Bay Packers in a couple of minutes, but a night
of studliness for Colt McCoy, who unfortunately now done for
the season. A broken fibulum suffered in tonight's loss against
the Philadelphia Eagles. Redskins fans had to watch Mark Sanchez
(02:03:35):
come in really direct the team to know points and
despite the fact Sanchez was excited after the game, talking
to media for the first time in a long time,
whether they're paying attention to what he has to say.
I can't believe Redskins fans are looking at anything but
a six and ten finish. But before Colton McCoy left
this game for the rest of the season, one of
(02:03:58):
the great moments and guy hissedor Mr Harmon, you have
the story, Thomas Boswell, he writes for The Wash. He
did post. You find him on Twitter at Thomas Boswell
w P quote. Went back and checked the game tape.
Cole McCoy stayed in after injury. He completed a five
yard pass called back by a ten yard holding penalty.
Then he completed a ten yard pass that's set up
(02:04:19):
a forty four yard field goal, tried to trot off
with a broken leg. Two plays he stayed in with
a broken leg, completed, both of them had one call back.
Did you just see that you're on You're on a
broken leg. You know something's wrong, right. You can feel
feel the rush. If you've ever broken a bone, you
know exactly what I'm talking about. Are phones. You feel
(02:04:42):
the rush, and then you have the holding penalty. You
probably want to go and choke you know, go to
Marcus Lawrence and choke out your lineman. How do you
come on? How do you feel if you're the lineman?
Now you hear that story? Wait he broken? Oh man,
oh we got the field goal. I feel about that
extra hard on that next. Sorry about that, you know,
(02:05:03):
because I could tell you weren't feeling good, So I
want to make sure nobody got to you. So that's
why I committed that holding penalty. You okay, something next
level right there? I mean, that's pretty good hockey player.
Can you imagine if if he got hit all ready
with a broken leg and then it breaks it further
or that's that's real. That's some kind of pain tolerance
(02:05:24):
or to be able to stay in and then go,
you know what, I'm done. And then he walked, he
limped off, and he limped a locker with a broken leg.
The the snarky guy in me says, there's no way
I'm seeing this job. Sanche, you shoot me up with
something f time and get me out out there. I'm
not gonna walk out and Mark bleep and Sanchez is
(02:05:45):
taking this job for me. And Sanchez is like, yeah, hey, yeah, yeah,
I'm fresh apps that around ten weeks. Yeah, all good, ready, hey,
ready to play well? And then he handed the ball
off to Adrian Peterson and the way he went like
we turned back the clock. That's what I would say
if I would Mark Sanchez. You see my impact on
this offense. Immediately I first hand off. That was the
(02:06:05):
best handoff I've ever had in my life. Look good too.
Gives the ball to Adrian Peterson. Peterson goes ninety yards
for a touchdown. It's all me. I'd be right up
and down the field going yeah, yeah, man, yeah, I
got it. I did it. I'm bringing this offense back.
I handed it to him. It was fantastic that it
(02:06:25):
was Mark and that was the high point. Uh yeah,
Unfortunately it was. Things kind of just went downhill from
there very quickly. But we'll have more on this, Jason
lock and for're gonna stop buying a few minutes CBS
Sports NFL Insider. We'll talk this game and all the
other big stories in the NFL. But let's get to
(02:06:45):
the Green Bay Packers situation. So I'm gonna tell you
who's gonna wind up coaching the Packers next. Yesterday, Mike
McCarthy was fired following the Packers loss of the Arizona Cardinals.
I submit that anytime you lose to the Cardinals you
should be fired. But well, you know, fry that fish
another day. Why did he get fired? Obviously he lost
the locker room. He lost Aaron Rodgers. All this. Oh,
(02:07:07):
Aaron Rodgers wasn't here, he wasn't happy, he was no.
That's why you make the change and you fire a
guy mid season if you lose the locker room. Todd
Bowles has not lost the locker room, and that's why
he's still the head coach of the Jets, even though
he's just waiting to be fired. But Mike McCarthy got
fired because he lost Aaron Rodgers. He lost the locker room.
Aaron Rodgers had his chance after the game yesterday talking
(02:07:29):
about Mike McCarthy's job, and he said, you know, not
my job. We're getting ready to play and I'm gonna
defer whatever's gonna happen is gonna happen. That was his
chance to throw support behind keeping Mike McCarthy. But you
knew it wasn't because they didn't get along. And we
told you that the tipping point for Mike McCarthy was
the Seahawks game and the bad decisions that he made.
(02:07:49):
That was the point of no return. That's where everybody
turned against him. And no matter what that was, that
where you got to the top of the mountain and
either if Mike McCarthy started winning, it would go back
the other way, but we went over the top and
down the other side because of the mistakes that were made.
When you do it on on nationally televised games, it
becomes that much of a bigger deal. And that's what
(02:08:10):
happened to Mike McCarthy because of those mistakes in the game.
That's when we knew, you know, what he's done. But
he couldn't make it to the end of the season.
So who's next. The Packers can't go into the next
great offensive mind. They can't go Josh McDaniels, even though
you know John McDaniels has a deal to be the
head coach of the Patriots. He could have gone to
(02:08:31):
coach Andrew Luck in Indianapolis and said, oh yeah. The
second thought, they can't afford that Aaron Rodgers is in
the last three or four years of his prime. Can
you have a guy come in, a whiz kid with
an offense? I don't know that that works. I also
don't know if there's another whiz kid out there. So
where do you have to go. You have to go
to a coach that's offensive mind, that will be able
(02:08:52):
to more of his beliefs into what Aaron Rodgers does
the best. John Harbaugh is the first guy at the
top of that list. What John harborow might not get
fired now because he's won three in a row. He's
made the change to Lamar Jackson, and Jackson is playing
well enough to win games. Running the ball well, he's
throwing okay enough Lamar Jacksons winning games. We talked about
(02:09:14):
the different kind of energy that's needed sometimes around teams,
and that's what the Ravens have right now. Lamar Jackson
is not playing out of his shoes, but he's playing well.
He's doing Lamar Jackson things, and they've won three and
they're in the driver's seat for a wild card spot.
So John Harball may keep his job. Baby the guy
to say, hey, I can coach Lamar Jackson, but you
still need that cash a who was a great offensive
(02:09:36):
mind who has recently had success that Aaron Rodgers will
buy into and the other team will buy into. And
there's two guys that fit that night. Let's go. What
do you got? Bruce Arians and Gary Kubiak. Bruce Arians
is someone who has before, with a couple of different teams,
(02:09:56):
turn an offense into something really, really good. He made
Arrow Zone of work for a while, Pittsburgh work, he
made Indianapolis work, He made it work everywhere. And this
is just a few years. This is two thousand twelve
through two thousand fifteen, two thousand and sixteen. This is
not Jon Gruden. I was good in two thousand and three.
This is just the last few years the modern evolution
of the NFL. Arians is a great guy to come
(02:10:19):
in here. He and Rogers would work great together. Gary
Kubiak has even a better resume. He won. He went
to the super Bowl with Peyton Manning when he was good.
He won a super Bowl when Peyton Manning stunk. His
health being an issue because stepping away after his heart
problems and the same thing. Bruce Arians want to make
sure you get a clean bill of health for both
those guys. And I understand that, you know that's that's
(02:10:40):
a question. But if they can show yeah, they want
back in. These are your two guys, These are your
two offensive geniuses that will tailor their beliefs around Aaron
Rodgers because they know, now I have the best quarterback
in the NFL, and now I'm gonna make this work.
What does he do well? What can I put it?
I'm not gonna square peg round whole things because I
(02:11:00):
saw that work from Mike McCarthy. He won a Super Bowl,
got to conference championships, and now he got fired. So
I'm gonna go in and try to make what I
do fit around what he does and will be constant
playoff performers and will be Super Bowl favorites. Those are
your two guys, Bruce Arians and Gary kubi Yeah, the
curiosity with Kubiak is whether he wants to go and
(02:11:22):
commit and can he commit to multiple years? Now, look,
every one of us is, uh, how how did some
of our colleagues term day to day? So yeah, you can't.
But then again, exactly so that the fact of the
past health concerns certainly there, and you look at Kubiak,
what he's done in a personnel role for the Denver
(02:11:45):
Broncos has been fantastic. Right now, Philip Lindsay is set
in the hair of the NFL on fire, and I
say that because he's got really good hair. Got his
name is Philip. That's kind of weird, but he goes
by Philips. Yeah, I know, it's weird. It's it's weird.
So this Philip, there's normally shortened to film quarterback. That's fine,
(02:12:07):
but Philip for a running back, this kind of weird.
Either way, he's getting it done and he's been fantastic,
a great game this week. Uh. And a lot of
that is, you know, some of the work Kubig is
doing as to what that system becomes the Broncos, like
like Harbaugh Vans Joseph suddenly maybe he keeps this job too.
We'll see what happens over this final month. But you
(02:12:28):
look at Kubiak perhaps wanting to get back in the game.
You're looking at the three to four year buy in.
You know me, I love Bruce arians not just because
he's in the background of some of what we've talked
about here on Fox Sports Radio and visits from Jay Glazer.
Just I like the temperament. I like the aggressiveness. I
like the style that he goes after it. That and
he's always good for a good SoundBite, uh in postgame
(02:12:50):
press conferences. So that would be fun. And I think
when you come in knowing, Hey, Aaron Rodgers, we got
two to three years, maybe four years to make this work,
that there's aggressiveness that flows through their uh the current odds.
You got McDaniels. You talked about Lincoln Riley. He'll have
his pickup jobs if he wants to come up to
the next level. Di Filippo, Eric b Enemy, Carmichael Lafleur.
(02:13:16):
And then you get down to Taylor Harbaugh, Freddy Kitchens.
Although this past week probably goes against some of the
momentum there, but uh, where's where's um Jeff Fisher on
the list? Offensive? Not defensive? Oh yeah, so he's not
on there. But interesting because I still wonder with John
(02:13:39):
Harbaugh to some degree whether they decided to just exercise
the staff because Ozzie Newsom is leaving that maybe there's
just a whole new set of eyes right from the
coaching position as well as the GM and trying to
build around Lamar Jackson Twitter at how about a fresco
Mike at Swollen Dome The Jason Smith Show with My
base Red Mike Harmon. We got more on Odell Beckham's
(02:14:03):
heart and how Kareem Hunt's gonna get back in the
NFL sooner than you think. But coming up next, we
got Jason locking Forest oting by CBS Sports, NFL insider
Mark Sanchez, the Packers, see what he thinks about my
Bruce arians end. Gary Koubiak thoughts all that more coming
up next Fox. Be sure to catch live editions of

Why don't you just go by Mike Live from The
Guy Goes Studios, Jason Smith Mike Harmon, Big Night in
(02:14:48):
the NFL. Tonight, the Eagles get back to five, breathing
down the Cowboys throat victory over the Washington Redskins, Mark
Sanchez coming in for the injured coltm COI you will
miss the rest of the season with a broken fibula.
Really didn't lead the Redskins to anything, but we're gonna
get to see Mark Sanches play quarterback for the next month,
(02:15:10):
So you're kind of given. You get joining us now
on the hotline A man who was buying up every
ticket he ken to the Camping World Bowl in Orlando
to watch Syracuse and West Virginia Jason Locke and for
a CBS Sports NFL insider, extraordinary, Jenny, what's happening? Hey,
what's going on? I honestly, I kind of I didn't
even know who they were playing. That is that confirmed? Yeah,
(02:15:35):
Syracuse is back in the Bowl and Mark Sanchez is
starting a quarterback is two thousand and thirteen. Yeah, I
want to get out of this time where I like
the Syracuse in a ballpark. But uh, yeah, we survived that.
I did not fall asleep on the couch. I give
myself a lot of credit for that because Mondays are
usually long days after Sundays. But I made it through
that entire footballing atrocity. You know what, what's your big
(02:15:58):
takeaway from this game? Because we were just talking about
a few minutes ago, when it's the NFC still stinks,
The Redskins will be lucky to get to eight and eight,
and you know the Redskins now they're gonna sit and
watch Mark Sanchez play quarterback for four weeks and here
come the Colin Kaepernick rumors again. Yeah, but they won't
sign him. I mean, I mean not nobody has even
considered it. Which, uh look, we're weeks away from the
(02:16:21):
start of this um proceedings. I mean, there's not going
to be a settlement. I reported a couple of weeks
back that they're deep into the scheduling phase of his
Kaepernick grievance and figuring out this owner can make it
to Philadelphia for the hearing on this day and this
coach could be there that day, and this GM and
the commissioner like it's it's going to be uh quite
(02:16:43):
a bleep show, and uh you know, it's it's gonna
start early in and it's probably gonna take two or
three weeks to play out, and then we'll see what
Stephen Burbank, the system arbitrator, decides, if if you know,
there's there's calls for damages here and if if Kaepernick
proves his case. But I mean we saw what four
(02:17:03):
or five teams last year just willingly torpedo their season
for the likes of Tom Savage and Brett Hunley and
um Brandon Weed and started the game. Lets you know,
like all that happened for teams that had legit playoff
ambitions before their quarterback got hurt, and you saw it
happen again this year. Um, we got to see some
(02:17:23):
more blame Gabbert. Um. That was fun, that was great. Um.
You know we were now seeing Mark Sanchez. You know,
somebody beat me over the head with a shovel like
Nathan Peterman will get a job before Colin Kaepernick does.
But you're right, this is just all about football, and
I'm the one who's delusional. The National Football League Week
(02:17:44):
thirteen a lot of strangeness and certainly people bemoaning the
departure of Mike McCarthy from the sideline. Seems to me,
if you're done with a guy and the team is
seemingly done with him, you only get so long before
the Super Bowl wears off, Right, Yeah, I mean, look,
there's a lot of ways you can sort of view
that prism, Right. You can look at it through nine
(02:18:06):
playoffs in eleven years stretch, including I think four championship
games and a Lombardy, And then you could look at
it through the last thirty six months, which is ugly
football and Aaron Rodgers not performing near the level you
would expect it and friction amongst the staff and McCarthy. Look,
(02:18:26):
anytime you have to do what he did last year,
he based fired his entire offensive staff, brought in a
whole new offensive staff. And we've seen the weebel wobbling
in recent years between is he gonna call players or
isn't he? And how much of it is he calling?
And how much is Aaron just torpedoing it at the
line of scrimmage and do whatever he wants to do
anyway like that. That's only sustainable for so long. And
and if the guy is in the top five and
(02:18:48):
completion percentage and yards per attempt and touchdown interception ratio
and quarterback rating, then whatever, it doesn't really matter. But
that really hasn't been the case this year, um. And
there's been a lot of I mean a lot of
games where he's struggling to hit two dred yards passing
and he's only completing fifty percent of his passes and
he doesn't feel picks and we know that, but this
(02:19:11):
has not been an Aaron Rodgers season. And I reported
back in Week four that I mean, numerous people who
know both of those particulars very well. We're certainly convinced
that these were there. They're dying days together, and there
was no chance that that coupling was together. In turns
out they didn't make it through. But I'm with you, guys,
like I understand that he would feel like McCarthy, it's
(02:19:33):
disrespectful and some degree to have this happen to him.
But three weeks from now, when he's with his family
for Christmas and his agents calling him every ten minutes,
tell him, you know, I think I can get forty
eight million guaranteed from this team. I think get fifty
two from that team. And he's able to sit back
and assemble the staff and pick and choose and really
dissect the field and figure out which jobs he's interested in,
which he's not interested in. Um, I think it's going
(02:19:57):
to be a positive for him in a lot of ways.
And take this month to recharge his batteries a little bit, um,
you know, and and reconnect with people who he rarely
gets to see this time of year. And and for them,
you're right, it was over. It's been over there for
a long time. And now let's see who they get
to replace him. All right, now, let me play NFL
inside of here, because because here's the two guys that
(02:20:17):
I think it's gonna come down to in the end,
depending on on the health of one of the guys,
because I don't think the Packers can go and have
Josh McDaniels have an offensive wisdom, and I don't think
that's a match for Aaron Rodgers where he's at in
his career. But he needs an offensive mind who's come
in with the cash, a that can get the buy in.
And the two names that keep hitting me, you know,
(02:20:37):
in the head with who they are are Bruce Arians
and Gary Kubia can obviously Kubiak's health depending on if
he can come back and be on the sideline. It's interesting. Um,
I'm with you on the McDaniels part. I don't see
that as a match for a lot of reasons. Um.
I think if you look at what the Packers generally do,
Like who was Mike McCarthy before they hired him, you know,
(02:21:00):
I mean, who was Mike Sherman before they hired him?
Who was you know, Homegren before they hired him? It
was it was a young right, a younger or at
leasten two of those cases, pretty young offensive mind who
had been around a lot of smart offensive coaches and
had the sort of pedigree as somebody on the rise.
But they had to come in and learn the pack away.
You know. They weren't bringing people in who had multiple
(02:21:22):
rings or had done it a million times before to
come in and say this is how I coached the team.
And especially with Mark Murphy flexing his muscles there now
and clearly the de facto owner, I think they want
somebody who will be fairly malleable and who they think,
you know, they can kind of I won't say control,
but I think the way that powers delegated will probably
(02:21:42):
change a little bit. Um I hadn't thought about be
a there. I think he could do a great job
with it, but there is that health concern, and do
we want to hire a guy and then have to worry,
you know, nine months from now if we're making a
change again, and do we have the next man up
already on our staff. Kubiak I continue to hear he
loves what he's doing in personnel, and while teams will
(02:22:04):
come after him, I think he'd make a ton of
sense for the New York Jets, where they're basically already
running a version of his offense with Jeremy Bates. Um
but I just you know, and he was with mcagnet
in Houston, but I just don't know at the end
of the day that he's going to do that. Um
So I don't think I honestly, I'm not sure either
of those guys coach in the NFL ever. Again, but
(02:22:24):
I like how you're thinking Gary Kubia gets to walk
around with a sign going. I made sure we got
Philip Lindsay to Denver, Jason Smith Show with My Garment
here for the Geico Studios and Fox Sports Radio on
the Hotline with a CBS Sports NFL Inside or our
buddy Jason Locket for you can find him on Twitter
at that very address at Jason Lockett for his latest
(02:22:45):
thoughts using ramblings on the National Football League. All Right,
we saw a wild one is you know, with Kareem
Hunt gone from Kansas City, they still win, They still
get the job done against Oakland, probably a little closer
than people like, but they in they bring in Shark
Andrick West. So we got a little bit of that.
And then we had Chargers Steelers fighting for the who
(02:23:06):
gets to to charge charge up for lack of a
better term, to try to challenge and the Chargers come
away with a very curious and can oftentimes confusing victory.
Can they catch him? You know, it's not out of
the it's not out of the realm of possibility. It
really isn't. They have one more head to head game
(02:23:26):
left that's obviously utterly imperative for the Chargers to win
that game at Arrowhead, which won't be easy. But really
that you go back to week one when they played
and we didn't know exactly what Patrick Mahomes was yet,
and obviously Bossa wasn't playing, you know, there was the
Charges were dealing with a lot of stuff at the time,
and they found a way to sort of lose that game,
(02:23:46):
as they have tended to do in recent years. But
a lot has changed. Eric Berry um I would not
be surprised at all if he's back for the Chiefs
this week against the Ravens, and then that gives him
a little bit of time to get his let is
underned before they before they face um, you know, Philip
Rivers and what's going to be a very different passing
attack than what they'll see from from the Ravens team
(02:24:08):
that wants to basically play rugby and run it down
your throats, which makes sense. It's it's that's the only
viable path they have on offense right now. So I don't.
I look, I really like the Chargers. I thought the
Chargers would win that division. I picked the Chargers. Um,
I know, I at least had them in my a
f C Championship game. I may have had him in
the Super Bowl. I really kind of felt like this
could be their year. I loved the roster as it
(02:24:29):
looked on paper. You know, in in August into September. Um,
they've tended to avoid catastrophic injuries. So I don't I mean,
look like, eventually, I think Philip Rivers is gonna win
some really big games and that defense can travel, and
Melvin Gordon may miss another game or two. We'll we'll see,
(02:24:49):
but but I don't expect that injury to be long term. Um,
they're not going to be a fun out in the playoffs. Now,
we'll see if they have to go somewhere and play. Like, Look,
if they have to go to foxbur throw in a snowstorm,
you know what I mean, in a blizzard, it's probably
not their year, but they could. It's not out of
the question to your point that they win the division
and wouldn't that be something playoff games in a soccer
(02:25:13):
stadium at eighteen thousand, eight hundred and nine people are
rooting for the other team. You can follow that's the
Chargers right there right there on Twitter at Jason lock
and for a Jay is always buddy, appreciate it. Thanks
you for staying up with us. I know it was
tough in that fourth quarter, but you had to see
(02:25:34):
how things ended for Mark Sanchez and I appreciate if
you were the light at the end of my tunnel
you got me through that game, than I'm gonna put
that on my on my resident the wind beneath my wing,
God speed, great stuff. As always, we helped them well,
we'd be forced him to stay away, Dragon ascid. It's
(02:25:59):
our fault coffee, you know, I'm sorry. Talk to those
idiots on Fox Twitter and how about a Frescup Mike
hat swollen Dome. Hey, coming up in fifteen minutes. We
got a brand new team that's interested in Bryce Harper
meeting with him today in Vegas. I won't give it away,
(02:26:20):
but the person who met with Bryce Harper's name rhymes
with magic Schmanson. But coming up in one minute. More
from the NFL will tell you exactly when and how
Kareem Hunt gets back into the National Football League. But first,
it's deb Carson with What's trending. D c Hey, the
defending Super Bowl champs have come out of their funky
Eagles within over the Redskins tonight. They have now won
(02:26:44):
two in a row there, six and six, and head
into Dallas next week where they will face NFC East
leading Cowboys. For quarterback Carson wins leaving some plays out there,
but we're so fine. We're finally starting to click a
little bit um and meshed together, and you know, I'm
We're extremely excited for next week's opportunity. For now, the
bigger story of the night is the other quarterback side
(02:27:04):
of the equation. Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy left the game
in the second quarter with a right lower leg injury
turned out to be a fractured fibula. He has done
for the season. Mark Sanchez, who only signed with a
team two weeks ago, is now the quarterback of the Redskins,
who've lost three in a row and they faced the
Giants next weekend. Well, there's a quick way you could

It's third in a row. And NBA Action Thunder one

fun fact of the night. In the first quarter, he
all and outscore the Atlanta Hawks eight teen seventeen. Thank

Jason lock infora we broke down Kareem Hunt situation with
him as he is now looking to get back into
the National Football League, released on Friday after video of
him getting involved in a domestic violent situation with a
woman emerged on TMZ and he went through the whole
(02:28:30):
weekend and he goes unclaimed by every single team in
the National Football League. Now he cannot play yet he's
still on the Commissioner's exempt list and likely he's done
for the rest of this season, will serve some kind
of suspension into two thousand and nineteen. This on the
heels of the story today that we get reports that
he was involved in an altercation in a nightclub in
(02:28:52):
January that involved to fight him former NFL running back
George Atkinson, another man who says they beat him up,
and we find doubt that the NFL has, of course
botched the investigation into the situation back in February by
not talking to Kareem Hunt after this happened, when they
knew about it, not talking to the woman, and when
the Chiefs tried to get the video, the NFL said,
(02:29:14):
don't pursue this. We haven't really they don't, and they
tried to cover it up because this is what we
told you the NFL did, and they continue to butcher
situations like this. But to look forward now and Kareem Hunt,
he's gonna get back in the league, and he's gonna
get back in next year. And here's exactly how it's
going to happen. He will be out now and it
(02:29:37):
was too tough. Look. Alex Marvez joined us on Friday
and said, I'll watch a team's gonna put an acclaim
from as good as he is, as young as he is,
and I just didn't see it because the likely length
of a suspension is happening, plus all the blowback that
we've seen from Ruben Foster when one team claimed him,
the Redskins, it's not worth it. But he's gonna get
back in because he is young and talented. As this
(02:29:59):
story he recedes from the headlines and we move on
to other things. A team will take a chance on him.
They're not gonna have to pay him a lot of money.
It's gonna be a redemption story. You get back in
the NFL and they're gonna say, you know what, it
wasn't as bad as the Ray Rice video. He didn't
you know, he pushed her and then she hit him.
He didn't really knock her down. He ran into somebody
(02:30:23):
who ran into her. Then he didn't really kick or
he kind of kicked at her, and they're gonna find
a way to make excuses to say, oh, yeah, yeah,
we can sign Kareem what really wasn't as bad as
Ray Rice, which is ridiculous, but some team will find
a way to do that. They'll do it at a
dead period when they can absorb whatever pr hits they're
gonna absorb, and eventually they know our fans are gonna
(02:30:46):
realize he's a great asset to us, and when it
comes down to it, and it's the draft we're playing
or camp, they're gonna be behind us because he's gonna
help us. And he will be back in the league.
He'll serve a suspension, whether it's four, six, eight games,
and a team is gonna have him. He'll play at
some point next season. And the main reason he's going
to is because we have seen that the NFL employees
(02:31:09):
bad guys, and whatever you go through, they employ bad guys.
Why do we not talk a lot about Adrian Peterson.
I'm not gonna talk about a guy that still says, yeah,
I beat my kids when they still need to a
lot of bad guys are in the league. Tyreek Hill
in the league, bad guy. How long is Ben Roethlisberger.
Don't like talking about him bad all these things, but
guys are in the league and they play. So the
(02:31:32):
NFL is now unfortunately we're used to bad guys being
in the league, and you can, you know, you can
do the Doug Williams thing and say, oh, well, you
know what, look, other teams employ bad guys. What's wrong
with us? Yeah, And that's the whole thing. We're gonna
keep finding out about bad guys being employed and they're
still gonna get jobs because they're still gonna play and
someone's still gonna sign them. I'm hoping that their chances
(02:31:53):
decrease a little bit and that shows a little bit
of advancement and that then that's not just defeating Frenzy
and twenty teams didn't put in acclaim for Kareem Hunt
this weekend, but he's still gonna wind up playing. He's
gonna be the latest bad guy who is still playing
in the NFL. Well, but that's it is that you're
you're looking at the publicity side of things versus what
is the NFL entertainment media And at the end, you're
(02:32:17):
trying to win games, right, So that's the choice you're
making when you're looking at what teams and their objectives
are and what the league is. And the league has
gone in half asked to all this stuff right to
go in or don't uh in terms of how you
investigate and and process. Right, If you're gonna say there's
(02:32:38):
a no tolerance policy, well then start clearing the rosters.
And you know, we we talk you know, bad guys
in the NFL. There's bad guys and women in every
line of work going across from here to the other
end of the world. Right then that that's just reality here.
You're just talking about millions of dollars, high profile on television,
and it becomes what do you accept and what do
(02:33:00):
the fans? How much does the outrage carry? You know,
Washington with Ruben Foster. It was brought up on the
broadcast a little tonight. Daniel Snyder has shown he's not
one to bow to public pressure to pull questions or
or message boards or even season ticket holders who may
come up and ask him questions. You go down to
(02:33:20):
the team's very nickname becomes a problem right now, you know,
for some uh and and gets debated and and surges.
Every couple of years we have that debate likewise employing
someone who is out of the legal system. Right, this
isn't being pursued, it's not going to jail, wasn't charged
with the crime, didn't serve any time. But based on
(02:33:42):
the personal conduct policy, you get somewhere between one and
six games you spin. The wheel of discipline from the
NFL as it stands right now, is related to this
because not all cases are a viewed the same. B
are aren't the same in terms of what you have
in in terms of the evidence and what goes out
(02:34:02):
into the public. In this case, you happen to have
a videotape, So now the public outcry is more than
it was if it was just written up in a
thousand word column and covered on the local evening evening news.
So it becomes a much bigger deal. And for NFL teams,
they've got to watch and decide how much their fan
(02:34:22):
base accepts. The reality is, what are you gonna do
go in excess any guy on a roster who's been
charged or has been you know, in linked to any
of these kind of things. I don't know that they're
going to go back and do that and then going
forward if he hasn't been charged with the crime. Does
does that mean he shouldn't be allowed to play in
(02:34:43):
the league? And we go back to Ray Rice and
the question of why he wasn't back in the league.
Was it because of the videotape or wasn't because of decline?
You could easily argue declining skills. You know, there's all
of these different parts and permutations to the decisions that
teams make individually and some would say collectively about whom
(02:35:03):
to employ and whom they not. Right tonight's hot button
issue is Colin kaepern At getting a job back in
the league after Colton McCoy goes down and we watched
the ineptitude of Mark Santis. Yes he was thirteen of
twenty one, and he was excited answering questions. The reality
is he's now their quarterback for the next month. So
you know, all of those and all of those questions
(02:35:24):
flow out of this game and once again with the league.
As as related to Kareem Hunt, who is one of
your elite running backs and that means he's treated differently
star players, star rules, twitter At, how about a fresco?

something's starting to get really interesting for the off season
in Major League Baseball. I've told you before, I don't
want to give Bryce Harper because it's I can't give
(02:36:54):
one guy three million, especially since the image of Bryce
Harper is better than the production. That guy's sucked in
a hundred runs once he's injury prone. He walks a lot,
But do those walks turn into runs? Well, when you
get walked with two outs in the bases empty in
the first inning, that's an okay walk. He doesn't hit
for average every year. Like I said, the image of
Bryce Harper is better than the reality. But still, I
(02:37:18):
like excitement, I like fun, I like Derby's. I like
the lottery. I play the lottery even though I'm never
gonna win. And we find out tonight just how involved
the Bryce Harper lottery is going right now. Jeff Passon
of Yahoo Sports put out a column earlier tonight that
(02:37:39):
said Magic Johnson led a contingent of Los Angeles Dodgers
representatives into Las Vegas today to meet with Bryce Harper.
How about that the Dodgers. Now here's the thing. Officials
from the Dodgers White Sox. Jim Tomy making the trip.
(02:38:01):
Jim tell me is my homie, and he's my incredible
you know I'm left him. I'll wear high socks. You
wear high socks. It'll be great. Your name is Bryce Harper.
My name is Jim do White Dodgers, White Sox, Phillies,
(02:38:26):
and Yankees. Okay, so they're to start that are traveled
to Nevada to meet with Harper, who makes his home there.
So okay, that's not bad, but you realize, all right,
that's four big teams. But then you realize that the
Cubs the Padres are also going to check in there.
The Nationals also want to circle back with him after
(02:38:50):
Harper declined his tenures starting dollar deal. Harper likes the Astros,
also likes the Cardinals. They're expected to go into this
at as many as twelve teams are gonna kick the
tires and try to negotiate with Bryce Harper. You're talking
about a third of the league who is going to
(02:39:11):
think and rightfully so that they are in on Bryce Harper.
And here's why they're in. Just think about the last
couple of months for Bryce Harper. End of the season
comes very publicly. We know he turned down ten years
and three million, so you know, he's not that thrilled
about staying in Washington. He's ready to move on. He
(02:39:31):
knows he's gonna get more money because he's not gonna
not take ten years and three hundred million if that's
what he's going to get. Scott Boris is his agent.
Scott Boris is not gonna let him take a nickel
less than the highest bid that's out there. Bryce Harper
could say, you know, I really want to go to Houston.
They're offering you know, nine years and two hundred and
fifty million. You know, but but the but the Phillies
(02:39:52):
are offering ten years and three million. Scott Borres is
gonna say yet, No, that deal is not happening. You're
going to the Philadelphia Phillies. Bry Harper is gonna turn
out like Levian Bell, who is simply going to go
to the highest bidder Jets. That's what's gonna happen in
the off season. Levi on Bell is not turning down
a nickel. If the Jets bid fifty one million dollars
(02:40:12):
and five cents and the Lions bid fifty one million dollars,
he's saying, sorry, Lions, I'm going to the Jets. He's
simply going to do that. And that's what's gonna happen
here because they're both driving the bus. They want Harper
to be that first player to break. If they can
get up to four hundred millions, and it's all lining
up for him because you've got twelve teams that are involved. Right,
If that many teams are involved, it just becomes just
(02:40:34):
stand there with the paddle like you're an auctioneer. And
here's the best part about why this is gonna be
so great, because all you have to do is be
the team that offers the most money. It's not like
you're a team like say the White Sox go, hey,
we'd like you, but we could give you five years
and maybe two if you're into something like no not
happening there and they know what it is. You turned
down ten years and million. That's the starting point. So
(02:40:57):
everything just goes up from there. So the fact that
all these teams are still and they all know, hey,
if we blow everybody away, we're gonna go get him.
And who would have thought the White Sox would have
a chance at Bryce Harper the beginning of last year,
or the Phillies or the Padres. Nobody would have thought that,
but they do because that's exactly what's gonna happen. He's
gonna be just like Levi on Belt and White Sox
(02:41:19):
go into that strategy is stripping it down. You have
a couple of veterans, but otherwise looking at the draft
and retooling the scouting program to really be the thing
to lead them back to the promised Land and competitive uh, competitiveness.
But you look at the Dodgers heading into Nevada for
this discussion, I know there's already a little bit of well,
(02:41:41):
what do they do with all these young guys that
are they're gonna be arbitration eligible or they're gonna have
to pay they they have more money than God. Okay,
it's just a question of whether they want to spend it.
And that's been part of the discussion about Bryce Harper
to this point was would they get into the mix
because that's not philosophically. No, you have a chance to
bring in a player because you're also doing all the
(02:42:02):
due divigence. Every one of these teams is also figuring
out from sales and marketing. With the addition of a
player like Bryce Harper induce you to buying some semblance
of a season ticket. Back, are we talking to ten
game a twenty game? Now? Are you gonna put asses
in seats? That's really what and what does that mean?
Count on you what you would guarantee me you buy
(02:42:23):
these tickets if we give this money, because if you say,
nobody really pissed at you, right, But you're trying to
gauge what's the economic impact from that side of things
as well, not just in wins and losses, because you're
you're trying to make sure you can make some of
that cash back in short order. So you've got a
little bit of that going on, and certainly the Dodgers
the other things. Magic Johnson's walking in with a Lebron
(02:42:45):
James shirt. Think at me, I'm wearing my Lebron James jersey.
You know what? Who you know? Who got on there? Me?
And I think Lebron. That's the fust narrative. It's all
me magic time. And they starts been in the ball
on his finger like he's back in the promo for
his short lived for the Magic starts telling stories and
(02:43:07):
so they all of a sudden, they're Sheila playing drums
in the background. They got a whole presentation. Let me
talk about my baby sky hook back in about that,
Bryce Harper, I don't I don't know what you're talking about.
I don't know. I think it works, buddy. That's gonna
be a lot of fun, Watch Out, Dodgers in the mix, Sweepsteaks,
Baby Punch that Ticket. Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith
(02:43:28):
Show with Mike Harmen getting on Twitter at how about
a fresca? That's at how about a fresca? Mike is
