Speaker 1 (00:02):
Wake. It gets my day going and makes me laugh.
I of it. Mac and Schmitty in the morning on
Star one oh five point seven. Good morning, Schmitty, Welcome back,
Welcome into it.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Hi.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
There it is Smack and Schmitty out a Monday morning
where everything looks different in our studios. Here we came
in and they moved our monitors around. It looks way
more space shippy in here.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
I would say we should post a picture, probably get
people an idea.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
All right, we'll get enough on West mich you can
start dot com. But the thing about it, it's weird,
is that everything is in the way of you. I mean,
this has got to be a dream come true for you.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
I was actually gonna say that to you. Oh for me, Yeah, no, man,
I don't have to look at her all morning. But
my side I absolutely love. Well that's because I'm being blocked.
Ohe gave me all this space, our monitors. If you guys,
once you see this picture, you have to understand we've
got like an audio box, two screens, telephone, microphone, Like
there's a million things in these studios that before I
(00:58):
feel like we were all living in like a studio apartments.
So now it's a little bit nicer.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Don't you feel like the way that it looks makes
our job seem way more important than it is. Like
when you walk in, you're like, well, these people are
in charge of some important stuff. I know.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
No, no, we're not even movies, music and all the
gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Well, we've been watching Justin Bieber getting continuing, continuing to
get frustrated with paparazzi. But this time he's hit a
new level Friday night, going live on Instagram to catch
pops allegedly closely following him in vehicles that he thinks
has turned dangerous. In fact, he actually flags down a
police officer to get them pulled over. Clearly annoyed by
(01:44):
the situation, you can hear him in the live talking
to an officer about how bad this has gotten.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
Hey, sir, these guys are being reckless back here, these
these cars, watch them.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
That cops up there we go, Now some justification for.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
This, Yeah, actually pulled over. It was a pretty wild video. Meanwhile,
talking a lot about Justin's mental health in the past
few months and being surrounded by people that support him.
This has got to be a serious blow. Mourning the
loss of his maternal grandfather, Bruce Dale, the singer honoring
Bruce on Saturday, sharing a photo of him and his grandpa, writing,
(02:27):
you always remembered specifically telling me everything that was good
in the world. I'd convince you to spend on snacks
at the hockey games on Friday nights. Reluctantly he always
gave in shout out to the wonderful person that you
were enduring everything that I did. I can't wait to
see you again soon in heaven. Until then, I know
(02:47):
you're watching down, probably still heckling someone somewhere. I'll miss
you and I will ache. So that's really, really sad. Days.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Losing a grandparent's tough.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Diddy has rejected a plea deal that federal prosecutors offered him,
and his lawyers may have kind of shown their cards
in Ditty's defense, claiming he's no criminal, he simply enjoys
the swinging lifestyle. The rat mogul in Manhattan court Friday
for a hearing that touched on quite a few different topics,
prosecutors revealing they did offer Ditty a deal and he
(03:20):
flat out turned it. Down. No other details of that
have been made public, but Didty's team is arguing, although
he may have lived a certain kind of lifestyle, he
never did anything inappropriate and certainly never anything criminal. Now,
prosecutors argued they didn't want the defense to use other
examples of prominent people hiring certain ladies, that this was
(03:44):
all going to be kind of a part of maybe
who we're going to hear testify in court saying, listen,
a lot of people live this way and there's absolutely
nothing illegal about that. Remember that trial scheduled to begin
May fifth, so it's coming up quick.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Well, I'll take all the salicious stuff out of it.
You still got a video of you beating up a
woman in a hotel room to deal with, so it's
not like it's all going away.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
And okay, I told you about this, right. It was
a week ago. Elizabeth Hurley and Billy Ray Cyrus when
Instagram official. This is legit, you guys, Elizabeth now sharing
pictures to her Instagram yesterday, very PDA packed. You can
see the two cuddling, sharing some more kisses. At one point,
it looks like they're riding in a side by side
(04:26):
together with a dog. I mean very loved up photos, Hurley,
captioning the post Tennessee Weekend heart So it looks like
she's actually traveled to Billy Rain now to spend time
with his family.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
I just liked it. It makes this field time trapped
in the nineties. I'm fine with that.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
I yes, all right, all of your celebsco but West
Michigan Star dot.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Com starting on fine points. Yea, I have a good
morn into you. It's Mack and Schmidy. Look at it
gets you feeling good right now. And I know somebody
out there in their entire family still probably with a
big smile on their face. After the NFL Draft, it
was the third round on Friday when a from West
Michigan was called. You might have heard back in twenty eighteen,
Isaac t Slaw. He was the quarterback for Unity Christian
(05:07):
High School here in West Michigan, right from Hudsonville, and
he led the program to their first ever state championship
in their program's history. Back in twenty eighteen, took down
Portland at Ford Field. I'd imagine that has to be
the biggest football moment of Isaac's life. Well, this one
has got to be up there too. Because he got
(05:27):
the call that everybody in the NFL draft is dying
to get, only he got it from his hometown teen,
the Detroit Lions. Wait a second here, Okay.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
You sir, how's it going?
Speaker 1 (05:44):
I am thank you, missus forn. That was when Isaac,
surrounded by his entire family, found out he would be
going to the Detroit Lions. When he actually went to
one of his pret after meeting Schmiddi, he showed up
wearing the Lions jersey he got as an eighth grader.
(06:06):
For it a lifelong dream. He actually shared with w
ZZM just what it meant to finally be able to
put on that Honolulu Blue Jer's.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Not only a dream to play in the NFL, but
to play for my hometown team, the team I've been
for since I was a baby. So I mean, it's
a it's a fun feeling, let me tell you, it's
uh not everyone gets to experience this, And I'm just
extremely grateful. Obviously, Gods had a plan for me my
entire life, and I'm who knew that plan was going
to be to play for the Detroit Lions someday. So
I'm just extremely grateful. And like I said, I'm just
(06:33):
ready to come to work obviously. You know, it's been
fun fun watching them from the TV from games, but
it's gonna be even better to be on the.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Field with them. You can just hear the excitement of
his voice. It's gonna be so much fun to be
able to watch him play for our Detroit Lions, who
traded up to get him in the third round because
they coveted him that much. Really cool, this is incredible.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
We had I think something like three thousand new graduates
over the weekend joining me in our Laker alumni community.
And that was grand that Elly's graduation. But for a
mother and son, this was a very very special moment
because if you take yourself back to December of two
thousand and two, there's only one thing that kept Christy
(07:11):
Cooper from accepting her master's degree from Grand Valley going
into labor with her oldest son Sam, so she missed
the ceremony that would have celebrated her massive, massive achievement.
Twenty two years later, however, no worries, Christy earned her
fourth degree from GV, a master's in public health. This
(07:32):
time she had a bit of company at Vanndel. As
fate would have at the Seedman College of Business and
the College of Health Professions share the same commencement, meaning
her oldest son, Sam, That's right, the one who kept
her from walking back in December of two thousand and two,
earned his bachelor's in Supply chain Management and Finance, graduating
(07:52):
right alongside mom. Christy's saying to be able to share
this milestone with Sam is just really exciting. I'm hoping
it's also a special time for him. Something we'll always
remember is getting to graduate and celebrate together.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
I mean, talk about a full circle moment.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
That's insane, serious, serious, good juju all.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Around Philly, good coming at you a couple times a day.
Let's do it again this morning at nine to one.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
I'm just curious, honestly, and I haven't found it in
any stories. Just how long this kid is going to
be grounded for this major drama over the weekend with
the NFL Draft after a prank call was sent to
Shador Sanders. This is Dion Sanderson, someone pretending to be
a GM drafting him. So this happened Friday night, and
(08:46):
it was supposed to be New Orleans Saints GM saying hey,
we're super excited man, you you're on the team. That
was not the case. It was entirely prank calling, and
the NFL launched in invstigation until yesterday afternoon, where the
person who did it came forward. It was none other
than the sun of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrick,
(09:10):
admitting he was the person behind the cruel joke. Jacks
is his name. He is a college sophomore, fessing up
in a social media post yesterday, writing on Friday night,
I made a tremendous mistake, Shador. What I did was
completely inexcusable, embarrassing, and shameful. I'm so sorry I took
away from your moment. It was selfish and childish. I
(09:33):
could never imagine getting ready to celebrate one of the
greatest moments of your life, and I made a terrible
mistake and messed with that moment. He does say that
he called sutor in the family and asked for forgiveness
for this. Now the Atlanta Falcons just to shoot a
statement as well, saying that Jeff was unaware this is
the dad unaware of the data exposure or any facets
(09:56):
of the prank, and was only made aware of the
above after the In fact, the Atlanta Falcons do not
condone this behavior and send our sincere apologies to the
Sanders family. We've been in contact with them to apologize,
as well as facilitating an apology directly from Jacks to
the family. We've also been in contact with the NFL
and continue to cooperate fully with any inquiries we may
(10:20):
receive from the NFL League office. Check this out. We're
thoroughly reviewing all protocols and updating if necessary to help
prevent an incident like this from happening again. Sanders was
ultimately drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round,
but has yet to comment publicly on Jacks's apology.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
The other part of this that just makes it so
insane is that shaduor Sanders, was the biggest story of
this NFL draft. His fall from potential thought of top
five pick going all the way down to the fifth
round is those covered things.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
For people like me. Everybody thought he was going to
go very very early, son of Dione Sanders, big deal,
and everyone was like, oh, my god, gosh, he keeps
getting passed over. He keeps getting passed over. There was
a lot of rumor people didn't want to deal with
Dion and did not think that he would be worth
being on the team. But it was a really already
kind of sad thing. The Sanders had set up this massive,
massive party in Dallas, like I'm talking Louis Vatan, major
(11:17):
pop stars performing, and he just didn't get drafted. So
to add insult to injury with this prank call, it
has been a rough weekend. Ryan Reynolds and his Wrexham
AFC fans celebrating a major accomplishment over the weekend. So
this is the soccer team that Ryan and his always
Sonny in Philadelphia star friend Rob mcalaney took ownership of
(11:40):
back in twenty twenty one. And different from the States
over in the UK you can play to move up categories.
Is kind of the best way can say that there's
different leagues there.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Well.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
On Saturday, Wrexham was one step closer to getting to
the top tier Premier League position, getting a promotion from
League One to the Championship League next season. Huge, huge celebrations.
Blake Lively was also on hand. This is where fans
kind of start talking. Her and Ryan made sure that
they were like in the middle of the field having
(12:13):
this like makeout session, and a lot of people felt
like it seemed really really forced. Blake was also out
live on Friday for the Simple Favor sequel red Carpet,
where once again fans pointed out that everyone just seems
very uncomfortable. Her co host or co star, excuse me,
Anna Kendrick was there. All of their red carpet pictures
(12:35):
looked very forced, very odd, and she just kept doing
this whole kind of I'm in the greatest space of
my life. This is so wonderful, this is so great. Meanwhile,
she had other people, like the director saying Nope, everything's good,
everything's fine. People just aren't really falling for that right now.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Yeah, that doesn't really feel authentic that this is the
best space you've been in in your life.
Speaker 5 (12:55):
Jowly weird.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
It's true, but it's odd, very weird.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Finally, it was quite a boys weekend and I have
to squash really dumb rumors. There's nothing going on with
Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift. He simply showed up for
a massive Vegas charity over the weekend alongside his brother Jason,
joined by Justin Timberlake Michael Phelps for Lake Griffin. It
was the eight Am Golf Invitational in Sin City. Some
(13:18):
really fabulous videos that you can see have been posted,
But again, Taylor, wasn't there not a big deal that
you have been lying kind of low and he went
to Sin City for a couple days with this brother.
That's it. Videal's pretty great though. They got it posted
for you with your scoop at West Michigan Star Dot
A Welcome.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Into a gorgeous Monday. It's Mack and Schmiddy. It sounds
like you had a fun weekend with the ghiddos.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Well, it was fun, but it was really really busy,
and I wanted to kind of talk about those rewarding
moments with your kids because amidst all that busyness, my
seven year old just had a really acutely aware moment.
I guess I'll say, And I've discussed this with my
husband Chris in the past, so it's not like I'm
talking any trash here, but I think most women would
(14:00):
agree the mental load we carry as moms is vastly
different than dad's and I'm not saying that in a
mean way. It's just the way we are wired to think,
to plan, to organize. It's just a lot more on us.
And that was very very clear this weekend. We had
so much going on. As soon as I got done
with the shows on Friday, I knew that we had
(14:21):
family from the up coming in for the Grand Valley graduation.
Our cousin graduated over the weekend, so I was trying
to figure out a rival time where we were going
to head to dinner because they wanted to meet us
in Rockford before coming into the city. And then they
were like, why don't you come join us Friday night,
So then I'm figuring out what time we could get
the kids down there. Pickup was different for will. Then
(14:41):
you go into Saturday, we have soccer, then we're heading
to lunch with another part of the family. Then we're
going downtown. Had to pack bathing suits because you're going
to go swimming at the hotel, and then into Sunday
where everyone's leaving, we're doing There was a lot going
on and a lot of organization that it took. And
so on Saturday, I'm going through and I'm swapping out
all the soccer clothes for all the nice going to
(15:03):
dinner clothes and then afterwards hotel pool clothes. And I'm
making sure we have shoes and extra pairs of undies.
And Will turns to me out of nowhere and he goes,
is it really hard to be a mom? And I
said what, buddy? He goes, I don't know. You just
always seem very busy.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
Mom.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Is it a hard job? And I was like, yeah,
it is, buddy, but it's really worth it because I
love you and your sister very very much. And he goes,
is that why you and dad ask us to help out?
We should probably help out more? And I went, man, oh, man,
look at this empathetic seven year old that can read
(15:45):
a situation. Let alone he's a man that can read
this situation and be like, ooh, okay, I should probably
do some more. Like he went and cleaned up his
room and he made sure his legos were off the
floor without us having to ask. In that just brief moment,
like mom, is it really hard to do your job?
Speaker 5 (16:03):
An?
Speaker 2 (16:04):
He called it a job? And I just thought, man,
there's very few moments that you think you're doing it right.
And there it was. I was so proud of him.
I'm like, he is he is a really thoughtful seven
year old that recognized this and took time out of
his you know, day of play or whatever to be like, Wow,
you're doing a good job. And I thought, there's those
(16:25):
moments sporadically with your kids where it is very rewarding
to be a.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Parent without a doubt. And I think that that's that's
a good one to see him just sort of pick
up on context clues. Did you seem at the time
did you feel like maybe you were a little stressed,
You're a little irritated every day everything.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
And he picked that up too. He goes, Mom, you know,
are you stressed out? Like I hate that I'm passing
kind of that emotion onto him, but yeah, no, I'm
stressed every single day. There's there's a ton that we do.
It's a very very hard thing, especially being a working mom.
It's really really challenging.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Well is my limited knowledge as a male would tell
young women, it's that he just did it amazingly picking
up on those cues and taking actions.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
That saves marriages right there, is those that those simple things.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
So the aw he's an mpath and I'm really excited
to know that.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
The only advice I'd have for him is like, you
just got to not ask the question. He's too young
to know. But that's what I've learned is you can't
ask if you're hey, are you a are you really
busy right now? Are you stressed out?
Speaker 5 (17:22):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Gosh? As soon as the words come out, it's a mistake.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
Yeh.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
I don't know. I think if if like Chris asked
more questions like that, I'd be like, yeah, I would
see how are you wondering where you can step in?
Speaker 1 (17:32):
I get the I want you to know.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
So I put this on our Facebook and I got
two great comments. Amanda said when your kids do good
human things on their own without being prompted, followed by Aaron,
who said when they are spontaneously kind, that is such
a great milestone and that means you mamas are doing
a really great job. Six one six, four five eight
one oh five seven. What is the most rewarding part
(17:59):
of being a parent for you? Or maybe you had
a moment recently where you went, ah, I'm doing this
thing and I'm kind of possibly doing it.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Well with human torch. She was denied a bank load headline.
Good chain. If you're looking for the important news, it
is not here, but this week's best headlines coming your way,
and Smitty kicking us off with our very first at bye.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
A rock that looks exactly like Cookie Monster has gone
viral in Brazil. This actually was discovered a few years ago,
with the video picking up steam yet again. Californian gem
collector Mike Bauers actually posted the video to the point
where Cookie Monster himself responded saying, me no geologist, but
me think dat rock look a lot like me.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Sade Smitty woman left traumatized after finding a snake in
her margarita during a visit to Patron, Mexican restaurant Virginia.
Woman actually said she took a drink and the baby
snake touched her fore head when she noted, honestly, at first,
I thought this was just the worm from a good
now count. People pay double for that kind of action.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
By Bloody fingers are just part of the game. In
finger huckelm men in short leather pants and embroidered suspenders
risked broken digits as they vie for the top prize
at Germany's Championship finger wrestling. Around one hundred and eighty
competitors took place in this over the weekend. Finger wrestling
(19:30):
apparently popular in Germany's Alpine region and neighboring aus Austria.
Finger huckelm originated as a way to settle disputes.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
I mean short leather pants and suspenders. I'm in schmidty,
I am in. Let's see here. Lake Superior State University
has unicorn hunting regulations. Yes, Lake Superior State has a
page on its official website devoted in outlining the rules
for unicorn.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
I almost went there.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
This is what your tuition dollars are going towards parents
at bye.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Mom has gone viral for throwing her daughter a Law
and Order themed first birthday party complete This is my
dream first finger Yeah, she's just turned one, complete with
fingerprint cookies, ice tea, drinks, law and Order scu and
my most favorite part, a picture board with a dunt dunt.
(20:27):
These are her stories.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
What a brilliant woman genius schmidty. Army of mosquitoes take
over entire plane, causing passengers to become irate and itchy
quote just praying for the flight to get over. A
swarm of Mosquitos goes into a INDIEGG flight just before
takeoff and attack the passengers the entire time. Seriously, new
(20:53):
travel fear unlocked.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
A bye.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
If you see any great headlines out there, always send
them our way, all right, hit us up A's West, Michigan's.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Wow did my social media timeline explode with this drama.
The Detroit Pistons taking on the New York Knicks again
at LCA yesterday. Both coach Dan Campbell and Lyons quarterback
yeared Goff were in the crowd. Spike Lee was in attendance.
Sits well, but it's not the Hollywood celebs we saw.
It was the end of the game, a crushing moment
(21:35):
that referees are now admitting they missed a major foul kicked.
Speaker 6 (21:40):
Up hardaway two seconds off. Puts up the shot now
and the game is over.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
JB.
Speaker 6 (21:45):
Bicker Steph is on the floor. I right, he thought
there should have been a foul called on the hardaway shot.
But the Knicks have won at ninety four ninety three
and take a three one series league man.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
We saw people running out onto the court. Like he said,
Bigger staff was uming detroits. Tim Hardaway Junior saying he
got fouled on that final play. Here's the deal. That
was Nick's Josh hart but insult to injury in that
ninety four to ninety three loss. The NBA last night
acknowledging they made the mistake, saying a foul should have
(22:19):
been called. Had that happened, Hardaway would have been awarded
three free throws with about point three seconds left that
could have changed the entire outcome. Unfortunately, they can't go
back and undo that, so the game ended on that play.
The Knicks now lead the series three to one, heading
back to New York for Game five.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
I mean, it's just so painful for the Pistons. It's
never just one play, and there's missed calls and bad
calls throughout entire games. But at the same time, the
difference between having a tide series and being down three
to one is just so massive for a team that
hasn't been in the playoffs since twenty nineteen.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
Hardaway was pretty ticked postgame, saying, you guys saw it
blatant as for heart, Did I make contact with him. Yeah,
I made contact with him. Was it legal? I don't know.
We'll let the two minute report say that Lana del Rey,
the singer Kissing and Telling, claiming she had a hook
up with country star Morgan Wallin and then threw shade
(23:18):
at him about it. So over the weekend was the
Giant Stage Coach Show, and she debuted a new song
called fifty seven point five. There's not a lot of
guessing when it comes to these lyrics. Check it out.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
I kissed Morgan Walling. I guess kissing kind of a
eat into his head. If you want my secret to success,
I suggest you.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Don't go ATV with wire out wessing. She debuted the
new track thing it would be the last time she
ever said this line. Of course, she is married now
to Jeremy Dufriend, but really interesting stuff. She did not
hold back about how own impressed she was with Mark Wallin.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
I think that she is about to be asked more
questions about that than she's ready to deal with you.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Maybe, oh, probably right. Finally, did you happen to watch
the Bill Belichick interview on CBS Mornings. It has sparked
major concerns for the legendary NFL coach Belichick sat down
with an appearance that went viral yesterday. He's promoting his
new book. In that book, he talks about his twenty
(24:27):
four year old girlfriend, Jordan Hudson, calling her his creative
muse well. As CBS points out, she was present for
the entire interview and actually shut it down.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Make sure that that's the Jordan was a constant presence
during our interview. You have Jordan thread over there. Everybody
in the world seems to be following this relationship. They've
got an opinion about your private life. It's got nothing
to do with them, but they're invested in it. How
do you deal with that? Never been too worried about
what everybody else. Thanks, just try to do what I
feel like is that's for me and what's right? How
(25:02):
did you guys meet not talking about this?
Speaker 2 (25:05):
No, No, it's a topic. Neither one of them is
comfortable commenting on.
Speaker 5 (25:09):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
I mean when I say she was present for the interview,
she was sitting right next to the host, like, this
is what you'll talk about. This is not we can
do this, you will not do this. It was wild.
A couple of big names even commenting barstool Sports founder
Dave Portnoy. He said, my Sunday morning routine always coffee
in CBS Sunday morning, so feel a good show. So
(25:30):
imagine my surprise when they had the most awkward Bill
Belichick interview I have ever seen. I was squirming in
my seat, Pierce Morgan saying it was utterly excruciating. Mister
Belichick needs a family or friend intervention asap.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
You know, you see publicists come out, and especially when
somebody's promoting something like he's promoting a book. I don't
want to talk about my relationship because I'm promoting the book.
We hear people do that all the time in media.
It's not usually the girlfriend or the wife or anything
like that. That's just messed up.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
People are talking about the interview as a whole. Even
somebody is saying, dude, it looks like somebody is literally
tying him to the chair and telling him exactly what
to say. They're like, this relationship does not seem healthy.
I've got the full interview for you posted up with
your scoop at West Michigan Star dot Com.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Go be a Battle tomaw Night at Van Andelerino's Our
Grand Rapids Griffin start their playoff run against the Texas Stars.
But it's a battle right now that lands you those tickets.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
It's battle of the sexes. You get today's number one answer.
We are putting you next to the ice for that action.
One hundred women surveyed. Name something you wouldn't want your
spouse changing without telling you hair?
Speaker 5 (26:40):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (26:40):
You well, because he's got that marvelous throw.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
I'm telling every day. I'm like, I love you for
so many things, but if you ever cut your luscious curls,
I will leave you. I'm that kind of loving wife.
Six one, six, four, five, eight, one oh five seven.
One hundred women surveyed Name something you would not want
your spouse changing without telling you.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Good morning, star? Who's this? Good morning, Angela, Angela? How
was your weekend?
Speaker 2 (27:04):
It was fantastic? How was yours?
Speaker 1 (27:06):
I mean, you know, mid seventies degree temps and sunshine.
We're not allowed to complain. I don't think no, not
even a little bit. But let's see if we can
get your week off to a great star too. Just
got to tell me. When one hundred women were asked
to name something you would not want your spouse to
change without telling you first, what do you think Their
top answer.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Was would it be like the code to the house,
like the security code oo.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Or like I would I would throw that one under,
like door locks or or changing out the keys, And
that is actually the number five most common answer. I'm sorry, Okay,
thank you, thank you, Hi star. Who's this?
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Renee?
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Renee? I just got a great guest. But one hundred
women were asked to name something you wouldn't want your
spouse changing without telling you first. I just heard changing
the locks, changing the keys, kicking you out of the house,
but that was that was the number five most common answer. Yeah,
it'd be awkward, but that was not the top one.
And so, Renee, what do you think it is?
Speaker 2 (28:02):
I'm gonna go with job, You're gonna go.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
With jobby job. Have you ever just quit a job
on the spot without you know, running it past your
significant other at all? First? No, but been tempted to,
but no, Yeah, the temptation is very real. But career
job is the top answering, Wait do you go over there?
It was career followed by hairstyle, like Schmidty said, the
(28:27):
bank accounts, then your car, followed by those locks, your
door locks and keys. So definitely things you probably got
to run past that other person that you share your
life with. But all the same, congratulations, Renee. You're going
to root on our Grand Rapids Griffins and playoff hockey
tomorrow night. Oh that's awesome thing. You are so welcome.
(28:47):
But we'll do it again tomorrow. Double your chances to
win seven thirty and eight fifteen. It's Griffin's playoff tickets
all weekend start one O five point seven. Good morning
to you. It's Mack and Schmidty and of course wall Intertight.
You know, we're all trying to save cash with the
price of everything seems like it's really high, and we
also feel like we're getting nickel and dimed all the time, right, Schmitty,
(29:08):
I think so. I mean, it's just it stacks up
on you. And so of course when you see miscellaneous
charges on bills, you're like, what is this? Why am
I being charged this? And there are certain ones that
just make me more angry than they should, Schmitty. But
you're getting used to seeing like service fee on restaurant
tickets and things like that, or somebody says like we
(29:30):
have this extra charge on here that helps pay for
our employee healthcare and things like that you've kind of
been spawned out of the pandemic and have continued. And
they do bother me when I see them, and they
don't seem to make sense. But I had one yesterday
schmitty that both my wife and I were pretty annoyed by.
Why is it more money to pay something online? Why
is it more money to do something convenient for a
(29:52):
business and pay them online? We went to one of
those cool like tree top ropes courses. I'm not gonna
talk about the This is not their fault. Everybody's doing this,
But the point is is that when it came to
buying tickets online, the tickets were already like thirty plus dollars,
they wanted sixteen dollars to purchase the tickets online, not
as part of the tickets, just as the service fee
(30:16):
for buying your tickets online.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Was it like a third party site.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
Right on their website. So this is the part that
actually made me I rate. We're like, okay, cool, we'll
just go there and we'll just do it in person.
So we go there, they do it in person. They
tell us, oh, we're getting the spring rate because prices
haven't gone up yet. And then they say the total,
and the sixteen dollars service fee is still added on
to the cost of the tickets, even though we were
there at the business.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
That's got to be whatever software they're using. Then I
get I asked, did you pay with a card?
Speaker 1 (30:48):
We did wind up having to pay with a card,
because that's the other part, and.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
I don't see things on that too.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
Just go ahead and put those prices right in there.
I don't mind paying more money if you tell me
up front. What I mind is feeling like I'm getting
nickel and dimed on the back end with stuff that
seeks me a lot. I mean to buy tickets to
do something easy for you, Like that fee absolutely kills me.
Is there one that really makes you angry when you
see it?
Speaker 2 (31:13):
You know, I haven't run into something yet that's not transparent, Okay,
Like I've already gone to a few restaurants that are like, hey,
here's this added charge because the cost of our bread, veggies,
all this has gone up. Hey we use you know,
I've gone to coffee shops and they're like, yeah, so
here's the deal. But it's completely with transparent, and then
you can look at it and decide if you don't
(31:34):
want to do it right.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
It feels like there's an explanation for it, like there'd
be a reason for it. I don't find any reason
for there to be, like, oh, it's you know, sixteen
dollars for you to do. Let me tell you easy.
They were like, well, we don't include tax on the ticket. Basically,
it was just somebody who doesn't have an answer for you,
who's like doing damage control, and that sucks when you're
in the service industry to explain it to somebody who's
(31:55):
mad like me talking to some twenty.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Because that's why I'm back to camping out, y'all. You
can find me on the side of the intersection waiting
for a sweet show with a ten because I love that.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
What is that extra fee that just absolutely gets you
fired up? We've got to going on Facebook at West
Michigan Star stilling a fun point seven looking, gorgeous sound sound.
But let's give you a couple more reasons to feel
good about this, Dan, what's going on schwinning?
Speaker 4 (32:18):
Well?
Speaker 2 (32:18):
I mean it just goes to show that the Lions
are really a top tier team and players being drafted
to play in Detroit for their NFL season are moved
to literal tiers over the opportunity. This was such an
incredibly cool moment. Detroit Lyons sixth round pick Ahmed Hassanin
(32:39):
was officially called by none other than coach Dan Campbell
to welcome him to the Lions roster. Listen to this moment, coach,
how die.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
For your coach. I just wanted to believe in me.
So he just wanted to.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
Yes, sir, Thank you sir. That's his mom sobbing in
the background. It was a huge moment for Ahmed because
not only will he be headed to our Lions, he
is the first Egyptian player ever selected in the NFL draft.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
I mean, for a coach that is famous for asking
his players to bite off the knee caps of the opposing.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Team, he's got a few players drafted that are ready
to do it.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
I love that, all right, CHIMINTI. This is just an
example of, you know, when a small gesture makes a
big difference for somebody. It was supposed to worker over
in Saint Clair shoresh's getting lots of love after he
did something that others found pretty inspirational. Josh O'Hara's worked
for the postal Service about ten years and it's just
another day of work. Last Thursday, when he was making
(33:42):
his usual rounds and he happened to see a ten
dollars bill sitting in someone's driveway, and he said, the
way it was sitting, it looked like it had fallen
out of somebody's purse or out of their pocket or wallet. Say.
He walked up to the house and this is all
captured of course on ring doorbell, because why wouldn't it
be these days, and he returned it nobody was home,
(34:03):
so he left the note saying, hey found this in
the driveway. Well that was when the homeowner actually came
home to that note and was just blown away by
the very subtle and small act of kindness. Sarah Heiduke
is or Higduck is her name, and she told w
x y Z in Detroit that it just blew her away.
Speaker 5 (34:20):
Honestly, I was just like that, just like the sweetest thing.
It just magically end up in my driveway and he
happened to find it, and he did his good deed
by giving it to me. So that's why I feel
I need to do a good deed with it.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
And Josh, you know, to his credit, he's you know,
not shining away from the attention, but he is using
it to tell others. Sometimes it's doing that small thing
that makes a huge difference.
Speaker 7 (34:40):
If you can make somebody smile, or you can help
somebody in any way, even being support to be there
for them, do it. You got a neighbor who's grieving,
drop over or leftover food and tell him you're here,
or buy the food for somebody in the restaurant next
to you, or compliment your cash here. You make one
(35:01):
person smile, then that spreads to another and it's just
a ripple effuck.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
At that point, there's a guy who gets it right there.
Take time feeling good coming at you a couple times
a day. Always try to spread those smiles. We'll do
it again for you tomorrow, six forty five and nine
twenty every weekday on starf Mack and Schmidty in the
morning weekday starting at six am on Star one oh
five point seven
