Speaker 1 (00:07):
It gets my day going.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
It makes me.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Lab of it.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Mac and Schmidty in the morning on Star one oh
five point seven morning, Good morning.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Welcome into your Tuesday. Yeah, let me double check here, yep.
In fact, it is Tuesday tempts in the seventies out
there right now. But one of those weird day schmitty
where it starts here in the seventies and then we
get colder.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Is the day you're going to notice that. I'm going
to tell you this was probably one of my toughest
commutes yet, trying to keep my car on the road.
If you aren't driving north of Grand Rapids, that is
some serious wind, you guys. It was blowing my car
all over the place.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Up your hour on what the eighth ninth floor here
on downtown Grand Rapids. You just hear the wind whipping
through these buildings through the alley based.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
At least we don't have a fire escape over in
my other studio. It's literally you can pick it up
on the microphones. Is that a how windy it is?
That is what you're going to be dealing with today.
Sandaby was stormed to me. But they're saying plus forty
mile hour gusts I mean, if you've got nothing tied down, right,
you're in the backyard with all your kid's stuff, that
stuff is gonna blow if I want to make sure
(01:10):
that that's all ready to go before you head out
the door.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
Today, movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
It's the celebrities gooop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Well, we know that they might not be the best
of friends. And President Trump has taken a few shots
at Taylor Swift on his truth social but took the
time to get a little dig in yesterday as well.
The Philadelphia Eagles, of course, super Bowl champs, were at
the White House to celebrate that big win. Saquon Barkley
and company hit that sixteen hundred Pennsylvania Avenue front lawn
(01:43):
for a nice little press opportunity. That's when the President,
speaking on their big achievement, had that little Swift moment.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
Soon, thanks to fifty five points in the day, the
Eagles punched their ticket to a Super Bowl rematch with
the Kansas City Chiefs. And you know what happened to
wasn't a game a little surprising, but right from the
beginning in the first quarter of the big game, which
I was there. I watched in person. I was there
along with Taylor Swift.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
How did that work out?
Speaker 5 (02:12):
How did that one work out?
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Of course Taylor there cheering on the Chiefs thanks to
her boyfriend Travis Kelsey. Also worth pointing out because they
saw some of these stories. Yesterday, Jalen Hurts was not
at the White House. No major reason or political issue.
It was simply due to scheduling conflicts. According to his rep.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Yeah, never wanted to shy away from poking the bear,
even if that bear is Swifties.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Deon Sanders is shaking it off if you will, because
he is focused on the future. Of course, I had
the story yesterday about his son Shador finally being drafted
during the NFL Draft in the fifth round, but not
before a prank call from the sun of the Falcons
defensive coordinator. It's all good, Dion says, God is good and.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
The dust has said it with it. You're happy with
how things turned out.
Speaker 5 (03:02):
Bless you man.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
You know how good God is.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
I know God is good.
Speaker 6 (03:06):
Good you happy man.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Doug is so cool, so so good. So Shadora is
now up for the rookie Mini camp. He is set
for kicks off in just a few weeks to show
his skills.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
I'd just be like to be a fly on the
wall when that Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator talks to his
son about h You think.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
He's gonna talk. I think he's going to give him
the eyes, show him that bedroom door, and say son,
I'll see you in a few years. Finally, I thought
this was so fun. Tigers fan favorite coming to Kalamazoo.
Former MLB All Star Brandon Inge has signed a very
special one day contract to coach the Kalamazoo Growlers for
(03:44):
a game this season. He'll take the field on July
tenth against the Battle Creek battle Jacks. Inge will set
the starting lineup, coach first base, and lead game preparations
for the Growlers. According to the team owner, they're very
excited in a statement in just going to coach our
team for a big rivalry game. He'll do autographs for
(04:04):
our amazing fans and bring the two thousand and six
Tigers magic to Homer Straker Field. So again, that's July tenth.
If you'd like to grab some tickets.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
That is a cool idea. I have a lot of
pressure for Brandon IgE. When you only get signed for
one game like that show up. You gotta win, all right.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
All of your celeb scoop at West Michigan start doc dom.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Well, let's put some positivity into this Tuesday morning maka
Spinty on Starwino fan point seepn't with feeling good right
now and it's an update on our West Michigan teenager
making some waves on The Voice. We first met nineteen
year old Iris Herrera from Newego when she auditioned last
season on The Voice. Didn't get a single chair to
turn around for her during the blind audition. Had to
be tough, but this season, three coaches turned around and
(04:45):
she chose to be Kelsey Ballerini's first team member back
in February. Then in March, Iris won her battle rounds.
A week later, she reached the current playoff round after
performing ray La Montan's Joe Lean. And then last night,
Iris was once again there as the four coaches Ballerini,
Michael Boublay, John Legend and Levigne had to select two
(05:06):
singers from each of their teams to advance to the
final eights, and it was Iris performing Whitehorse by Chris
Stapleton that just blew the judges away. Last night and
(05:30):
her raspy voice just blowing them away. Michael Boublay saying,
you've got such a beautiful, cool seventies vibes. It's like
Joplin and Nicks mixed into one amazing nineteen year old.
Your voice was shredding, John Legend said, and then Kelsey
Ballerini said, you just did everything that makes you you
and it's the best you've ever done. Oh yeah, and
(05:55):
then she went and shows her to be on her team.
She is in the final eights on the Voice playoffs
continue next Monday on NBC. But pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
So if you've ever ordered takeout, you know that you
can put down special instructions on your meal. But for
Hunter Metzger in Pennsylvania, the instructions were extra special because
he was ordering dinner for his dog's final day. Iris
was an eight and a half year old Great Dane
with a great personality, as Hunter says, and put the
(06:24):
note last meal for our dog, prepare with love. As
they wanted to buy him an eight ounce New York
Strip steak over the weekend. Well, the Texas Roadhouse employees
saw that and really went above and behind, so we.
Speaker 7 (06:38):
Wanted to give her that last best day ever. Well,
so we took her on car rides, we brought around
to visit family, and I said, you know, we're going
to get her a steak dinner for her last meal.
Hold in and walked up to the to go window
and I said, Hunter here to pick up my order,
and a few of the ladies in the room immediately
came up and offered their condolences and said we saw
your note, you know, tears and all of definitely prepared
(07:01):
it with love.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
In that moment, nothing mattered except getting Iris her last meal. Well,
this story has taken off after Hunter decided to put
up a social media post giving a big shout out
to the workers at that Pennsylvania, Texas roadhouse, saying this
kind of customer service and demonstrated compassion sets this team
a level above the rest. Thank you from the bottom
(07:23):
of our hearts. People around the world have seen this
and it couldn't have come at a better time.
Speaker 7 (07:28):
So it's been really neat to read through the comments
and all the support and the love from people all
around the world, not just here in the US, but
we've seen Australia, United Kingdom.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
It's insane.
Speaker 7 (07:38):
We needed that bright spot you know in this tough time.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Yeah, that was waitress Maddy Conlin, who was one of
those women that made sure it was prepared with love.
Really really beautiful story. I've got it up for you
at West Michigan'star dot com.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
I mean, the drama really doesn't and does it? Just
in Baldoni's beef with Blake Lively after the It Ends
with Us movie problems is now spreading to the Marvel
Cinematic Universe. I've brought this up before. Baldoni is claiming
that Blake's husband, Ryan Reynolds mocks him in the latest
Deadpool movie, and he has asked Disney and Marvel to
(08:20):
hold on to any documents related to the characters that
Ryan plays in Deadpool and Wolverine. Last week, Marvel filed
emotion to squash Baldoni's subpoena, but Baldoni is fighting back
new legal docs he just filed, doubling down on his
assertion the nice Pool character is a mocking depiction of him.
(08:41):
So Baldoni thinks this relates to the case because Blake
accused him of sexually harassing and fat shaming her postpart
and body on the it ends with a set and
he believes it is actually the other way around. She
has been the problem with this entire thing. Marvel is
saying this is just an expression of opinion, not Baldoni
(09:01):
says he needs the documents from the studio so he
can figure out if there is a connection here to
prove that Ryan had a leeged malice in this entire
thing as well.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
I just can't just sign what I think and how
this ends, because it feels like it has got a
year to go that's never going to get there, Like
these two are just gonna wind up neither one of
them getting anything from the other. But both of them
damaged their careers and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars
at minimum on legal fee.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
So we will see. Because there's some added drama to
this as well. Remember a lot of people were questioning
whether Taylor Swift and Blake Lively were still pretty close.
It had been reported from some sources close to them
that Taylor was very, very frustrated with being potentially dragged
into this lawsuit. It goes back to some of Baldoni's
(09:49):
accusations that Taylor was part of the rewrites. We've been
hearing that Taylor was apparently invited over to Blake's place,
she did not understand there was a meeting going on
over a re written script for It ends with Us,
and Justin is claiming he felt totally ambushed when Taylor
rolled in with Ryan. Remember, Baldoni says that Blake called
(10:10):
her one of her dragons that would take Justin down. Well,
Travis Kelcey has unfollowed both Blake and Ryan Reynolds on Instagram,
and we all know that he rides hard for his lady.
So a lot of eagle EIDs swifties noticed this. Now
Taylor is not following anyone on Instagram, and Blake is
still following Taylor, but Travis has completely cut ties with
(10:33):
both of them.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
That's us sixth grade, doesn't it? And Travis stopped.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Following those our lives right now. Finally, I just thought
this was such a feel good story I had to
bring it up. I love Today it is World Wish
Day as we celebrate the anniversary of Make a Wish,
It's forty fifth year working to grant wishes for critically
ill kids and it's the first ever Disney Week of Wishes.
(10:59):
It was announced yeah yesterday on Good Morning America where
they are going to try and grant more wishes than
ever this week to celebrate their partnership with Make a
Wish as well. It started with the story of Justice
Brown yesterday, a six year old girl from Washington who
had her wish of becoming a Disney princess granted at
Disneyland in California. ABC was along for the ride with
(11:21):
her and her mom, Kelly.
Speaker 7 (11:22):
It's just a dream come true. It's a dream come true.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
And I don't guess, I just I'm so thankful.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
I'm so thankful.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
I've seen it today.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
I said, so.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
Happy, so happy. Disney has helped grant wishes for more
than one hundred and sixty five thousand kids over that
forty five year partnership. During this Disney Week of Wishes,
they are going to include a wish granting moment on
American Idol, a princess themed ball for nearly fifty families
at Walt Disney World in Orlando, and one girl's dream
(11:55):
of meeting with a star from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
So this is a cool week and just a huge
shout out to make a wish Michigan. They do some
really powerful stuff. I love this ORGANIZATIONUM with ol of
your Celebscoop at West Michigan start off.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Good morning to you. It's Mac and Schmidty and I
saw this job listing and immediately thought of you yesterday.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
I want to live in a lighthouse so bad I do.
It's been like a childhood dream of mine and for
this to be a potential job. We grew up running
a cottage on Lake hereon and so we would go
up to like Presquele, we would see all St Point
I think is a good one. I've been up to
Whitefish Point in the up near where the Edmund Fitzgerald
went down. I love lighthouses. They remind me of Michigan.
(12:38):
I think it's one of the coolest things that we
have because of all of our lakes. And now the
time has come because I saw this story on Fox
seventeen that the White River Light Station in Whitehall is
looking for volunteers. You can stay at a one hundred
and fifty year old White River light station and it
looks so beautiful. It's like white brick it's got this
(12:59):
snazzy sun the same All Lighthouse Keepers Association is what
runs this thing, and they say it's a working vacation.
You get to live at the station for a week.
They said they've had volunteers that have been doing this
with them for over twenty years. How am I just
learning about this?
Speaker 1 (13:16):
I mean, and I don't know what all the details are,
but does it not sound like an awesome cheap vagation.
I mean, you gotta work a little bit.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
But if it's I mean, it's got a full kitchen, washer, dryer,
two twin beds. It's pretty much a studio apartment. They
say for the week, a lot of the creature comforts
you expect in any normal household, except you get to
stare out over this stunning lake. And the volunteer job
is just ninety bucks to be a.
Speaker 7 (13:42):
Part of it.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
You could it be in a membership. So now I'm
wondering if this is kind of like a free to
boat club situation where you can go to a bunch
of different lighthouses.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
That, oh man, you could become like a journeyman in
this summer where you just go from lighthouse to lighthouse.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
You get to learn aut listen to this. The White
River Light Station boasts a rich history, once serve as
a bustling lumber operation that helped transport building materials to
Milwaukee and Chicago. However, due to Lake Michigan's unpredictable waters,
several ships met with misfortune, oh, leading to the establishment
of this light station. Wait out, here's saving lives, y'all.
(14:16):
I want to do this so bad, and it's been
a thing since I was a kid. Like I said,
have you had one of those jobs? I guess, quote
unquote Beau, I wouldn't even consider this job. It'd be
so much fun that you've always wanted the chance to do.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
For me, Schmidty, I always wanted to be Indiana Jones.
So I would say I would say archaeologists, but I
know it would be more boring than that. So I'm gonna
say exotic animal trainer because I think the idea of
being around like lions and tigers, a polar bear, some
gigantic whale sharks, anything like that would be absolutely unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
A gay fair. I don't think I've ever seen someone
with a polar bear.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
I will be interesting.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
And you know, I was just explaining because I need
to shout out this. Francis Johnson. I was explaining those
lit quarters, right, they say, pretty much kind of a
studio apartment. She was the last female lighthouse keeper at
this site, and she lived with her family of thirteen.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Cool.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
So I would just like to bow down to that mom,
because you know, I mean, if it was like my
brothers and I growing up, somebody was tumbling down that
windy staircase, more than.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
One thirteen kids and a lighthouse, that's a lot of responsibility.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Schmitty's so salty.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Step up on your soapbox, Schmitty, because it's time, salty
Smitty here on start one oh five point seven? What's
coming on?
Speaker 5 (15:30):
All?
Speaker 3 (15:30):
I'm gonna ask? How late is too late for yardwork?
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Oh? Too late? Interesting because always too early is what
people talk about with lawnmowers and loud stuff. But too late, Betta,
go with better, go with dark. I feel like dark
nine pm eight forty whoa.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Oh, so you would make me salty at heck living
in my neighborhood.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
I think that's the borderline cut off the latest.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
No, I totally disagree. If the kids are still in school,
and I've got to tell you, guys, I don't know
who oh it is, and I'm sure this person has
a pristine lawn wherever they live. But dusk is it's April.
It's April twenty ninth. Dusk is still like seven forty five. Okay,
I was stunned last night. It was ten forty and
(16:16):
someone fired up a chainsaw.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
That's impressive. I mean, was it a There must have
been a chainsaw emergency that branch.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
I'm so sorry. Anything after eight pm is not an emergency.
Maybe that is morning show Schmitty talking. But I was
absolutely floored, and I normally I admit I am unfund Schmitty.
That's what this entire conversation is about every week with
Salty Schmitty. But it made our neighborhood Facebook group. Someone
some beautiful angel posted on there, not even anonymously, and
(16:46):
was like, hey, just a heads up. There's still a
month left of school, so all of us with kids
have put our children to bed and hearing that, yeah, like,
it's the Texas chainsaw massacre at eleven thirty at night
is not cool.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Yeah, that's okay, ten for that's a different level right there.
But somebody who's willing to go out and do yard
work and fire up that chainsaw A ten for that's
a go getter right there, Shitty, I will we want
to do by lawn.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
I'm not going to be nearly as man Shmitty, So Salky.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
Swoti's music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
Well, it was a triumphant return for many fans waiting
to see Beyonce returning to the stage last night to
kick off her Cowboy Carter tour at Sofi Stadium in Cali,
and she had some very special guests on stage. The
forty three year old joined by both daughters Blue Ivy
who's now thirteen Wow and seven year old Roomy. However,
(17:49):
Sir Carter, the brother was not brought out. Beyonce and
Jaz have been making quite a few efforts to keep
him out of the spotlight now. Despite a phenomenal show
from everything I've heard, there have been a lot of
fears that Beyonce's Cowboy Carter tour may be flopping and
there has been a struggle to sell tickets for this.
Earlier yesterday, more than three thousand seats were still available
(18:13):
at so Far According to Ticketmaster. However, it looks like
less than six hundred of those appeared to have been
original tickets. A lot of these were being resold by scalpers,
so we're not sure if obviously the price could have
been driven up, but at one point you could find
seats for as low as twenty bucks for this opening night.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Dimson'll go on tour at the same time Taylor did
her Era's tour. Could that just suck in some of.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
The world renaissance a bit?
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Maybe?
Speaker 3 (18:37):
Yeah, I think you are right for there's some overlap there. Fans, however,
at last night's opening show believe she did give a
little teaser to a potential next album that could be
rock inspiral, okause.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
He's just now I like it.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
Kim Kardashian is finally headed to court in her robbery case.
Ten people headed to trial for a first day yes
accused of sticking her up at gunpoint. This happened nine
years ago, almost a decade ago in France. Remember this,
it was traumatic. According to Kim. They broke into her
Parisian apartment. They confronted her, actually duct taped her mouth shut,
(19:16):
blinded her, bounded her at her wrists and ankles. Well,
those people are now going to be tried, and Kim
is actually expected to travel to Paris testifying on May thirteenth.
She plans to explain in horrifying detail exactly what went down,
but fans have pointed out that hasn't stopped her from
once again kind of showing off a bit of that wealth.
(19:38):
Did you see this Instagram picture of her the other day?
She was on I think it was a beach in Mexico,
some family trip they went on, and fans pointed out
that the anklets on her feet in the sand were
probably worth more than a stay on that beach for
a week.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
So fine, fine, when your foot jewelry is causing headlines.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Yeah, and I have to do this because the story
was wild. Comedian Bert Kreischer was on The Jennifer Hudson
Show and talked about an unbelievable moment he met one
of the most iconic people ever. So he had to
take his daughter in for emergency dental work, very very
(20:16):
scared as a father. That's where this picks up.
Speaker 6 (20:19):
I am bawling, crying. We go into the waiting room.
Now there's people in there. I am crying so hard.
There's a black woman across from me, trying to like
calm me down. You know how you guys have that ability,
like you can calm white guys down real easy. So
so I can't even see I'm just crying. Ten minutes
goes by, Dennis comes out and he goes, your daughter's fine.
The whole waiting room applauds. Right. We go into the
(20:40):
back expensive Dennis and Beverly Hills, where you know as
a parent, when you go, we're on the other side
of the fence. We're good. Right now, door opens, it's
the black woman, Whitney Houston, what I swear to God
on my children's life. Looks at me. Only word she
said to me. She goes, it's tough being a daddy,
says down with George for ten minutes, talks to Leanne
(21:02):
about being a mom. It never gets easy, it never
gets easy, stroking George's air, singing softly. I mean, it's
the greatest moment. And when we got to the checkout,
they said, miss Houston covered everything.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
You're good. She paid for the whole thing. We couldn't
have afforded it. They would have put us in the
hole forever. Whitney Huston I did not see that story
taking that turn.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Isn't that wild? In the waiting room, sat with them
covered the bill. Just one of the coolest things I
think I've ever heard about that woman. I've got the
full interview for you with your scoop at West Michigan
Star dot.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Com selling a fine points Vin. Let's do this, Griffins fans.
Your chance to be there for game one? Is they
chase a Calder Cup in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
Starting tonight, Texas heads to town seven pm. The puck
hits the ice. We've got your question with the number
one answer that could score you those tickets. One hundred
men surveyed. Name something a bank uses for security.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
Ooh, laser beams. We've all seen that in every good
bank robber movie. They've got the laser beams for s cross.
You got a duck in dneath the mean those are cool.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
Do you think those ink packs are for real?
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Yes, yes, I do. I don't believe it.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
I think it's a conspiracy theory.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
You don't think anybody be willing to ruin the money. Yeah,
they're like no, no, no, no, no no, yeah, yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Six one, six, four five eight, one oh five seven.
You learn a lot about me in Battle the Sexes.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
It's true.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
One hundred men surveyed name something a bank uses for security?
Four or five? Eight, one oh five seven callers seven,
first chance at the number one answer, and you are
headed to the Griffins Game one playoff tonight with Stars.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
Good morning star. Who's this Christina? Let's get you into
our Griffins tonight for some playoff action. Gotta tell me yeah,
he yes. One hundred dudes were asked to name something
a bank uses for security against Crome. What do you think?
The top answer is that cameras. Cameras. Man, you know,
how did people not go with like all this stereotypical
(22:57):
stuff about armed guards. You've got vaults. I mean the
vault is like a classic bank security thing. There's bulletproof
class in some places. But yet you said cameras, and
it's a good thing he did. Cameras is the top answer.
You go to the Griffin. Yeah, camera's guards, alarmed, bulletproof glass,
(23:18):
and then the vaults, rounding out those top five answers.
Well done. You're gonna be there tonight to see game
one of the Griffins versus the Texas Stars. Thank you.
You are so welcome, and we're not done yet. We're
gonna get you into game two starting tomorrow. Your chances
to get yourself into Monday Night's Game two at Van
Andelerena for our Griffins tomorrow, eight fifteen, right here on
Star Wino five points, Star Wono, fine points. Yeah, but
(23:43):
come morning to you. It's Mack and Schmidty. And you know,
yesterday you were talking about, you know, rewarding parts of
being a parent. Yeah, And I was thinking about it
after the show yesterday, about how much fun I had
watching my son overcome a fear over the weekend, or
at least temporarily, because you know, fears they pop up
at different times. And for my son, it's kind of heights,
(24:03):
but not heights in the normal way, like he's fined
climbing a tree or you know, going playing on jungle gyms.
We do roller coasters. He shot four hundred and fifty
feet up in the air with me on one of
those slingshot things down in Florida. But for whatever reason,
and I think people who are afraid of heights will
get this. If he's standing on something like a ladder,
(24:24):
he's terrified. He is sweating bullets because he doesn't feel secure.
And so we went and did tree Runners over by
Celebration Cinema North there the ropes courses and stuff like that.
My family loves doing those things, but each every time
my son has done it, he forgets how deathly afraid
he is when it comes to the zip line.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Well, some of those platforms are really high.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
They are really high, and it messes with you. And
he was so at Jack to do this. He was
begging to go here and have this experience again. And
then we got on one of the intermediate courses, so
they make you go easy and intermediate, then you could
do the hard ones. He got on the intermediate one
and that was one of the ones with the first
big zip line, and you know that moment where you
have to trust fall, where you just have to believe
(25:04):
that you're gonna step off of a platform, so the
grown to just say, you know, Jesus, take the wheel
and go across. This kid was basically in tears, and
I'm on the other side, going just let your legs fall.
You know, I'm just being the the dad. I'm trying
to encourage him. My daughter's going, come on, Connor, you
could do it and all this stuff, and he is
(25:25):
so terrified, just yelling.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
Shut up, shut up.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Yeah, I mean he is having a full blown panic
attack on top of the thing. Also that eventually he
go can just jump off, go down and goes. That
was so much fun, so much fun, get done with it.
And it's just such a cool feeling to watch your
kids freak out about something and then get over it
all in just a moment. And you just watched that
(25:49):
whole process rest of the day. Kid went on probably
fifteen more ziplines screaming his head off, enjoy the whole
time show.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
I don't know if my parents ever had that experience.
My brothers would say such horribly mean things to get
me to do something that there was nothing positive about it.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Is there a particular scarring.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
Memory that you have to it on the air?
Speaker 1 (26:07):
Really?
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Yeah? No, Adam was really good at pushing me to
my limits of fear. Just will Savage right to your soul.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
I've put this up online. I think we've all a
lot of us have had the riding roller coasters experience
where I had to tell my daughter, if you don't
get on this roller coaster right now, we're getting in
the car. Going home. One way to do it, just
to get there. Hey, we had a great time at
Michigan's Adventure after that, so I don't know, pushing them
through is not necessarily a bad thing. Uh what about
the darkness? One shitty because I feel like that's something
(26:37):
that kids buy and.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Large are you're afraid of the dark?
Speaker 7 (26:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (26:39):
Like that when you don't have to turn on the
night light as will gotten to that point at all.
Yet my kid, my daughter's twelve, she still likes your
nightlight on, so it's a big deal.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
Well, we did the hallway thing because one stub toe
when you're trying to pee overnight, and you're gonna hear
about that for days.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
These are the parentine tips we all need. We all
enjoy having a little something possible to take with us
and the rest of our day. Just set the tone,
Ryan feeling good right now and starting oh five point seven,
what was happenings?
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Really well, never underestimate the power of girls. It is
tennis season across Michigan that includes Canton High School over
on the east side of the state, where a squad
of fifty strong willed Cobras are now getting ready. See
it's seventeen year old Caitlin Leilaw and eighteen year old
Sayi Pawar, who are captains of the women's team. However,
(27:25):
their season was in jeopardy. Just a month before tennis
was sent to begin, they had the heartbreaking news they
might not be able to compete two of their coaches,
one retired from coaching, the other moving to a different
school district. Meant they lost both coaches. They weren't really
sure where they were going to be able to go.
They didn't have courts, and it looked like there was
(27:46):
going to be no tennis. That's when parents stepped in.
One of the girls dad's Jeff Walters, could not see
his daughter sad about this. He tells ABC seven, I'm
an engineer, I have a problem solving mindset, and I
realized our neighbor across the street plays men's league tennis,
so I reached out. Basically, after three hours, I had
(28:08):
coaches lined up. Sixty five year old VJ. George and
seventy three year old Charlie Siracusa making entry as those
new coaches could not wait for the opportunity. They had
coached together at Catholic Central and it was just an
important moment. These girls have been working so hard and
was the community that stepped up too. John Glenn High
(28:28):
School in Westland chipped in its courts for the girls
to use. Parents have been offering to make the drives
for different matches. This has been everything. And as dad
and players say, they're ready.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
You know, a couple months ago, I had a daughter
in tears, and now I've got one who's beaming.
Speaker 6 (28:46):
The things we had to overcome to get here.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
You should appreciate the things you have going on for
you covers on three two three Congress. I thought this
was so sweet. They said all the Canton Cobras tennis
season needs is for the community to come out and
support their matches.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Sounds like they got a community willing to do that.
Fun love it, Chwinny. I just got to do a
quick shout out for the firefighters there in Wyoming that
on Sunday had an interesting rescue. You hear about firefighters
rescuing cats from trees, or maybe even little baby ducklings
from storm drains. How about puppies from chimney shim schmitty,
Because that's what went out on Sunday. Wyoming firefighters called
(29:22):
in to help the Kent County Animal Control with the
rescue operation involving an eight week old cute looking like
a labrador Ish puppy Golden lab As it went through
the chimney and got stuck between the first floor and
the basement. They wanted up having to bust through bricks
to get this little guy out of there, but they did.
Puppy was out. They had him checked out by a vet.
(29:43):
Everything is cool, but I thought was funny. They shared
this on Facebook, Smitty and there were no less than
seven firefighters in the photo. I have a feeling that
when something like we got a call of a really
cute animal down here in Wyoming, canell.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
Me everyone can volunteers for the rescues.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
Four trucks out front of the house, but just to
shout out for the Wyoming firefighters that were helping make
that rest giling good. Coming at you a couple times today.
I always want to perk you up with some positivity.
We'll do it again tomorrow, six forty five and nine
twenty on Star
Speaker 2 (30:10):
Mack and Schmidty in the morning weekdays starting at six
am on Star one oh five point seven
