Speaker 1 (00:02):
Wake.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
It gets my day going and makes me laugh. I
love it.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Mac and Schmitty in the Morning on Star one oh
five point seven.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Cloud Good morning, Smitty morning. Welcome into Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
A cool crisp one across West Michigan because he's pretty
much cloud free out there, very clear attempts in the
low fifties.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
But we're going to see a gorgeous Tuesday, Smitty.
Speaker 4 (00:27):
Oh, week is really showing up.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Nice, big time tons of sunshine today. Time's gonna get
up into the mid to upper seventies for your day,
get out and enjoy it. For my kids, this is
the final day of summer vacations.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (00:41):
This is it?
Speaker 3 (00:41):
This is the final last hurrah. Although last night was
the last non school night, which I made sure to
point it was like, hey, this is technically the last,
you know day you should celebrate severy I go.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
I go because my daughter starts this morning. And let
me tell you, she used every Dottle tactic in the book.
She complained about not having many tacos in bed, even
though we don't even have many tacos. So I did
not do great with the bedtime last night.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
You know, if many tacos were waiting for me in
my bed or in my kids. But I don't think
it would be that hard to get people to sleep early.
Speaker 6 (01:13):
I can tell you that right now, movies, music, and
all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (01:23):
Well, those of you of a certain time will immediately
recognize the theme music, give me that early nineties vibe. Yes,
Television icon pioneer and longtime host of The Phil Donahue
Show passed away, his family confirming the news yesterday morning,
(01:46):
shortly after the show ended. The media personalities death announced
on the Today Show, and it came from his wife
of over forty years, Marlow Thomas, who was by his
side when Phil passed away Sunday night following a long illness.
No further details were shared into his cause of death.
Hosting his talk show for almost thirty years, he was
(02:06):
known as a trailblazing TV journalist, pioneering the daytime TV
format as we now know it. He had the first
show to really use a live studio audience. Not to
mention the number of people he interviewed, President John F. Kennedy,
Johnny Carson, Malcolm X. It was an incredible career. He
was predeceased by his youngest son, James, who passed at
(02:30):
only fifty one back in twenty fourteen following an aortic aneurysm.
Otherwise survived by his wife Marlowe, kid's grandkids, his beloved
golden retriever Charlie. He was eighty eight years old the
last time we really saw him in public. Just a
few months ago, Bill received the Presidential Medal of Freedom
from President Biden.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
What an incredible honor that is, for sure, to cap
off what is one of the most legendary broadcast careers
that anyone has ever has history.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Yeah, unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
The two doctors charged with supplying Matthew Perry with ketamine
before his death can now no longer write prescriptions. This
is something you may have seen online gaining a lot
of fire the last few days, but the DEA has
confirmed both doctor Salvador Placentia and doctor Mark Chavez had
their registrations to write prescriptions polled last week after their
(03:22):
arrests for the Friends star's death. Sources say Chavez voluntarily
gave up his registration as part of his plea deal.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
He is agreeing to plead guilty to.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
Conspiracy to distribute ketymine, scheduled to be arraigned at the
end of the month. He faces a potential sentence of
ten years in federal prison. Meanwhile, a Pa Sensha was
released on bond on Friday after being accused of supplying
Perry's assistant with several vials of ketamine. This is all
very interesting because despite losing their DEA certifications, both are
(03:55):
still technically doctors. California Medical Board says it has launched
investigations into both physicians, but as of right now, they
are still licensed to practice medicine.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
After you get stripped of your license, which these guys
inevitably will and deservedly so, can you still call yourself doctor?
Are you still technically at anyone take that from you
in prison?
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Will they be gone? Hey?
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Oh yeah, I think you'll lose that when you lose this.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
Finally, a singer Chapel Roone probably what your kids listen
to non Stop says a ton of weird stuff comes
with being a celeb, like random fans coming up to
you asking for pictures, even stalking you. The singer posted
quite a long rant on TikTok yesterday talking about fans
(04:42):
crossing the line.
Speaker 7 (04:43):
If you saw a random woman on the street, would
you yell at her from the car window?
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Would you harass her in public?
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Would you go up to a random.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
Lady and say could I get photo with you? And
she's like.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
No, what the hole?
Speaker 1 (04:54):
And then you get mad at this random lady.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
Would you be offended if she says no to your
time because she has her own time.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Would you stalk her family? Would you follow her around?
Speaker 5 (05:10):
Would you try to dissect her life and bully her online?
Speaker 4 (05:14):
This is a lady who don't know Yeah.
Speaker 5 (05:16):
She says she doesn't know any of her fans on
a personal level. They don't know her on a personal level,
and she's feeling very taken advantage of in her personal
space right now.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Uh oh, I smile travel Smithie.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Is this girl? Okay?
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Just to put this in context if you're not that aware,
just had the most viewed set in the history of
the Lallapalooza festival in Chicago. More people came to see
Chapel Roone than anybody else who's ever played that festival.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
So some background here.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
The music that is very big for her right now
is music she came out with two three, four or
five years ago, so this can be a really, really
incredibly tough time. She's a very private person. You would
not recognize her out on the street. I've seen tiktoks
if people finding her at like neighborhood bars and restaurants
and a place that she's performing. So I think she's
just feeling a very, very stimulating and mentally challenging time.
(06:12):
This is just a piece. The video was over two minutes.
I've got it for you with your scoop at Westmichigan
Star dot com.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Sometimes does that get a good feeling, Well, let's get
some positivity out there on this Tuesday morning. Stoping a
fine point seven maca schmitty with you and this is
so cool West Michigan Mom recently the benefit of a
very sneaky, random active kindness that bronteers do arise grand
Han's Cassandra Clover and her daughter Isabelle. Isabelle, born at
(06:42):
six weeks premature, weighed only three pounds. As a result,
she requires a special type of formula that's tailored for
premature babies. Anybody who had a nicqbaby knows what she's
talking about and how expensive that can be. She told
thirteen on your side. The cost of formula these days
is so much, especially this one, since it's technically for
the premies, it was like eighty dollars for three cans. Well,
(07:05):
with those rising costs came a little bit of a
reprieve because if she was shopping, she picked up some
of her formula, went home and found a twenty dollar
bill that was tucked under one of the lids of
the cans of formula that she had bought. And she
said that just a little small act of kindness just
(07:25):
made her really emotional, and we need to.
Speaker 8 (07:26):
Tell the person whoever did this that we really appreciated that.
I kind of had like a little postpart a moment
and I cried. I was like, this is amazing and
it just made my day. And we got more formula
stuff using that money too, And because she has to
have special bottles that goes with the formula, so I
got extra that and everything. It was great.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
I love to see a complete stranger helping somebody out
of the goodness their heart. I love it even more
because it's such a cool, sneaky thing to do. It's
got me thinking of like other ways you could help
somebody when they really need it just by being a.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Lot take it in formula.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Formula is a good one, for sure, that's true.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
All right.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
You know high school principles, they're very similar to teachers
doing everything they can in their power to create a
wonderful school year. But how about stepping up and doing
an entirely different job. Mitch Bosch is headed into his
fourth year of being the principal at Hamilton High School,
also happens to be an alum and knows just how
important those bus drivers are.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
Tellnwood.
Speaker 9 (08:25):
Bus driver's role is incredibly difficult, but boy is it
a It is very meaningful and important to have because
it makes the whole system work. If we can't help kids,
if we can't get them to school nearly as well.
So that transportation is a huge piece.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
And you've heard the stories there is a national bus
driver shortage, So no worries. Mitch became a bus driver,
that's right, just got his bus driving certification to help
out bus driver's parents and his kids. He said, if
we have field trips and things like that that happened
during the day, I can already be there for it,
help lessen that load or make more experiences of ailable
(09:00):
I wanted to be able to help with that. He
gets students on field trips, gets them to sports events.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
He said the certification process.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
Was actually a ton of hard work and it really
gave him a whole new appreciation. But the fact is
that is one incredible principle to step up in that way.
Happy almost back to school, Hamilton. Their first day is
tomorrow and mister bus drive and Bosh is ready.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
I don't think I've ever heard of a principle doing
that before. Switebie, It's amazing. That's super cool. Phil Like go,
I'd always here to tell you about something great going
on out there. We'll do it again coming up at
nine twenty this morning. Here on Stop.
Speaker 6 (09:35):
Movies, Music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
It's the celebrities gup on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (09:43):
Boy Meets World actress Danielle Fischel sharing a major health announcement.
She shared this news with fans on her iHeartRadio podcast
Pod Meets World yesterday.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
I was recently diagnosed with DCIS, which stands for ductel
carcinoma in C two, which is a form of breast cancer.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
It is very very very early.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
It's technically stage zero, to be specific, just because I
like too much information all the time. I was diagnosed
with high grade dcis with micro invasion, and I'm going
to be fine. I'm having surgery to remove it. I'm
going to be on some follow up treatment. The only
(10:31):
reason I caught this cancer when it is still stage
zero is because the day I got my text message
that my yearly mammogram had come up, I made the appointment.
Speaker 5 (10:41):
And that is exactly why she's sharing the news with fans,
reminding women, especially how important it is to not skip
those appointments, those tests, any procedures, because that is the
only reason she caught it this early. She went on
to say that doctors are still figuring out what treatments
will be needed post surge, but she's very very confident.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
I mean, such a great thing to have caught it
so early. Obviously, all the same, still super scary for her,
aren't sure.
Speaker 5 (11:08):
Taylor Swift traded two girls to quite an enchanted experience
during her recent stop at Wembley in London. Taylor invited
two of the children affected by that July twenty ninth
deadly stabbing at a Swift themed yoga class in Southport,
England to come backstage and meet her. Sammy Foster is
(11:31):
the girl's mom. She shared a now viral TikTok featuring
a montage of photos of Swift with the family, writing
you drew stars around my scars. Foster thanked the singer
and her mom Andrea, who was backstage as well, saying
making the most magical night possible for us all. Thank
(11:51):
you for bringing hope and autumn pure happiness last night
and always really really incredible post and not the old
only cool thing.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
To go down.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
During Taylor's shows over the weekend, Channing Tatum was one
of those A listers in the crowd and shared a
social post showing Taylor's dad giving him a handful of
specially picked guitar picks from Taylor, and he claims he's
going to give him away for charity, writing a date
(12:22):
night with t Swift, The love is real, Taylor's an
absolute force and I got some guitar picks I'm going
to sell for charity from Big Daddy Swift himself, the
legend that he is. Tatum didn't specify which charity he
was going to donate to or how bands can get
in on this, so keep an eye on Channing's social
media cool.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
But with you know, Channing's ability to dance, I'm surprised
he didn't find his way to work his way into
an Era show.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
I mean as a backup dancwer. That would have been awesome.
Speaker 5 (12:50):
Finally, this is going to be really cool. Popular comedian
Hannibal Burras has announced a pop up show this week
in Grand Rapids. Doing comedy for more than twenty years, probably.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
Why I was good.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
The animals don't have planned. Animals don't have plans. They
don't sit around with a five year plan because.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Some animals at fate sucks.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Hey, little chicken, what are you gonna be when you
grow up?
Speaker 1 (13:11):
I'll me I'm gonna be twelve. Mak Nugget is somebody
dropped in the street when they will drunk.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
He is incredible.
Speaker 5 (13:18):
The stand up comedian is going to perform this Thursday
night at the Pyramid Scheme downtown Grand Rapids, right on Commerce.
Doors open at six, the show slated to start at seven.
That's very very cool. Tickets just went on sale yesterday
through the Pyramid Schemes website.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
I good a feeling those aren't gonna last too long.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
Yeah, I mean, I was gonna try to check this morning.
I think there were a few left, but it's probably
gonna sell out. Oh if you were celebscoo, but West
Michigan start.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
Off IM good morning to you. It's back and schmitty
and back to school time. Of course schmitty. It offers
unlimited opportunity.
Speaker 5 (13:50):
I mean, everybody's sharing the chalkboard posts. Right, this is
my teacher, my grade. I'm this many years old? And
what do I want to be when I grow up?
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Six one, six, four, five eight, one oh five seven.
I love seeing little kids because it's just the most
insanely random things. Clearly it's something they like just recently saw,
(14:15):
and then they're like, I want to be that. Like
I put this up on my social media and I
got an incredible piece from sage. She said, Oh my gosh,
my son wants to be a pickle maker.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Well, who doesn't want to be a pickle maker?
Speaker 4 (14:30):
What is a pickle maker? Couldn't tell you.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
I assume someone who harvests cucumbers and then turns them
into that. But still you can tell, like he had
a sandwich with pickles on it and then thought.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
This was gonna be my job for life.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
This is delicious. I think I make yeh.
Speaker 5 (14:45):
And I just figure it's like the most fun conversation
to have because mine was never weird. But from the
youngest age I can remember, I was desperate to be
a hairstylist. Oh yeah, I wanted to be hairstylist so bad.
I would go to the salon with my mom every
like four to six weeks to get my hair done.
(15:07):
I had the same hairdresser for oh my gosh, I
started seeing her when I was like five. Yeah, And
I started seeing her when I was like five, and
she did my hair for my wedding day. Like that's
how long I've had a relationship with this woman. And
I'll be honest, like, I loved that you felt so
pretty when you left, But I loved.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
The women gossiping. I'm like, oh my gosh, if I.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
Could sit in a room with like twelve chairs full
of women just piping up about all the tea in
their life.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
I mean for years and years and years.
Speaker 5 (15:40):
In fact, to this day, when Radio decides to be
done with me, I will one hundred percent go to
cosmetology school. I still would love to be a hairdresser.
I think it's the best job.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Running your mouth on the radio. Every morning. You'd run
your mouth right there at the hair.
Speaker 5 (15:55):
Wash FCC telling me what I can I can't say.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
I wanted to be Oh, still want to be a
hairdresser from day one. My favorite I like that.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
That's really good right there, I didn't have. Mine was
very short lived because for me, I was pretty certain
that after the summer of going into eighth grade, when
I went surfing in Florida with my cousin for the
first time, I had used son in on my hair
for a decent chunk of the summer, and I had
learned how to kickflip almost on a skateboard. I was
(16:27):
pretty certain I was going to be the next Tony Hawk,
that I was definitely going to be on the cover
Thrasher magazine within a couple of years as a professional skateboarder.
It turns out that would be the peak of my
skateboarding career right then and there, just about.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
Sonny Tony Hawk's like sixty and still killing it out there.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
I ride my logboard down the street, embarrassing my children
were basically the same person.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Mack and spinning with our weekly ben session.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
Smitty's so stalky, all right, So.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
I know that we're all in the thick of it.
We've been doing the back to school shopping. I've been
to Meyer, I've been to Target. I've seen all the
other parents doing the thing that I've been doing, which
is trying to find the cheapest goods out there. And
here's my problem. You gotta stop making cute stuff because
I don't have a chance. I am not a fun mom.
(17:13):
I am a brugal mom. And so we're going in
there and you want your three ring binder ticket color blue, black, red,
you want the two pocket folder.
Speaker 4 (17:25):
Here you go.
Speaker 5 (17:25):
There's some nice five star on sale, white, black, blue, red.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
You're not gonna do the cat ex but you know
jumps into the universe.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
And it's killing me because I had my daughter find
her way down that Lisa frank Isle.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 5 (17:42):
And I'm not saying anything bad against Lisa Franks. She's
a pioneer artist of our time. But girl friend, I
am not paying nine ninety nine for a two pocket folder.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
But trying to pull.
Speaker 5 (17:53):
My three year old out of a store after she's
seen something pretty My six year old wondering why he
can't get the baseball styled scissors right because the ones
right next to them are ninety nine cents and they
still cut paper. By the time you leave that store,
you feel like the worst parent possible because your kids
are like it's cool, Like You're probably not gonna make
(18:14):
any friends because I have all boring stuff and you
don't show off any of my personality because you wanted
to save money. Like it's the worst part of back
to school shopping. Quit with the cute stuff or put
it on a high enough shelf. The little ones don't have.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
View so stalky and honestly, your kids will say anything
to get the ones that they want. My daughter tried
to tell Michelle that the reason she needed mechanical pencils
was because the regular pencils just hurt her hands too much.
Oh you know, I said, how do they hurt your hands?
It's a lot of sharpening death, It's a lot of sharpening.
Speaker 6 (18:46):
So movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
It's the celebrity scoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 6 (18:57):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (18:57):
Maybe a little bit of bad blood between former Donald
Trump and Taylor Swift after his latest social media post
the former president suggests that the pop star has publicly
endorsed him, which she is definitely not. Trump was on
his truth social sharing several photos of women wearing Swifties
for Trump T shirts that clearly look doctors, some of.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Them even Ai created.
Speaker 5 (19:23):
There are two that do seem to be the real
deal of a couple of supporters at his rallies wearing
things like swift for Trump T shirts.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
But all the rest of them not true.
Speaker 5 (19:36):
As for Taylor speaking out about this, a source close
to the singer said, if she did not support him
last time, she is not going to support him now.
He has clearly lost it in more ways than one.
They say, Taylor feels you's illegal.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
I'll just say too, like if you're Donald Trump, I like,
you're just you're kicking the hornet's nest a little bit,
like why wake up the Swifties do anything other than
admiration for their queen, because they do go after her.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
A lot of a vote, man, A lot of a vote.
Speaker 5 (20:08):
One of Diddy's accusers, maybe giving even more information to
fedes that are trying to indict the disgraced rapper. Adria
English spoke to Miami Beach PD last week, detailing many
of the same allegations we've been hearing dating back to
the early two thousands that she laid out in her
(20:29):
civil suit.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
Here's the deal.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
She has not filed a police report prior to this,
law enforcement sources confirming that detectives took a report from
her but determined there just wasn't enough evidence to investigate
human trafficking or any of the other crimes that she
had listed. However, the detectives did pass that report to
federal authorities who are running parallel investigations in the event
(20:53):
they have new or different evidence that might aid in this.
Adria's attorneys that she is cautiously optimistic about process and
does plan to file another police report against Diddy in
New York City as soon as possible.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
I think Diddy ever goes to jail, I do.
Speaker 5 (21:10):
I do think We're in the day and age where
it's very hard to hide from these kinds of allegations,
especially once it hits like a federal investigation. All right,
here is your final possible surprise. Did baby Bieber already
come here? So here's the deal, Haley Baldwin or Biber,
I guess now, excuse me, has been on this big
(21:31):
tour with her road booth line. She's been hitting up
big places like Palm Springs, La, Miami, London, Ebita, and
now she's going to be in Toronto. She reposted one
of roads posts yesterday and then rode on there. We
have a big surprise alongside those looky eyeballs and a
(21:52):
pink bow emoji. Fans think she might be showing up
to Toronto today with her new baby. Remember they announced
she was pregnant back in May. Said you six months
a long, which would make her due date early August.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
I think you know the Canadian beeber would appreciate a
good It does.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
Make sense, trust me.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
All my eyes out for y'all, all of your scoop
a West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Mack and Schmitty always ready to throw down at eight
fifteen every weekday Battle of the Sexiest Time in your
shot to go watch some vehicles fly very high into
the air.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Schmitty and glow in the dark right like I love this.
Speaker 5 (22:26):
Hot Wheels and Monster Trucks Live bringing their glow party
to Vanandel in just under a month. Your number one
answer scores you tickets. One hundred women surveyed name something
in a haunted house.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
Ooh, name something in a haunted house. Got to be
a chainsaw in there somewhere, right, somebody's got to be
chasing you with a loud chainsaw.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
Depending on the haunted house, wet pants, I'm be very careful.
Speaker 5 (22:50):
Hit my kids six one, six, four, five, eight, one
oh five seven caller seven, first chance at the number
one answer. One hundred women surveyed named something in a
haunted house? You could be going to Hot Wheels, Monster
Trucks Live Blow Party with Star Win O five ten
seven Star?
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Who's this Patty? Where are you calling from today?
Speaker 10 (23:10):
Patty?
Speaker 1 (23:11):
I'm from Rapid, All right, Patty, gotta tell me.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
A hundred women were asked to name something you're gonna
see in a haunted house.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
What do you think?
Speaker 3 (23:20):
The top answer is you're going ghost Yeah, you know.
I don't know if you'll see them, but they'll definitely
be present. Ghosts is the number four answer, Patty. Sorry,
thanks for trying.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
No, thank you? Hi.
Speaker 6 (23:34):
Star.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Who's this April? Where are you calling from today? All right, April,
I just got a great guest from Patty. When one
hundred women were asked to name something you're gonna definitely
see in a haunted house, She said ghosts, And yes,
you'll probably run into a few ghosts at a haunted house.
But that was the number four most common answers. So
you got a chance. What do you think it is?
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Like?
Speaker 6 (23:56):
Zombie?
Speaker 1 (23:57):
You're going zombies.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
I'm gonna put that under monsters, which is the number
three most common answer. We're getting closer, though, We're getting closer,
all right, thank you, Hi star.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
Who's this Melinda? Melinda?
Speaker 3 (24:13):
I've gotten two really good guesses so far, but not
the top answer. A hundred women were asked to name
something you're definitely gonna see in a haunted house, and
so far I have actually heard two of the top
four answers. I heard ghosts, which was the number four
most common answer, and I heard zombies slash monsters, which
was the number three most common answer. So you get
(24:35):
a chance here, what do you think it is? Spider webs?
Spider webs, walking through a haunted maze, walking through anywhere
when it's dark, and then like feeling a spider web
brush across your face? Is there anything more unnerving than that?
I mean, that just terrifies me. And that's why you'll
always see spider webs at every haunted house. Congratulations, that's
(24:58):
the top answer. Thank you. Yeah, we've got four tickets
for you to go check out Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live
coming over to Vangelerina next month.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Thank you, Mike, kids, you love talking about it.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
Commercial notes, well, awesome, you're gonna have a blast, mom,
and we're looking to get your crew in as well.
We'll do it tomorrow eight fifteen. Battle of the Sexes
here on Star one oh five points. So good morning
to you. It's back in Schmitty And if you got
kids going back, I hope that they have a phenomenal
beginning of their school year, but that they had an
awesome summer and that includes the conclusion of summertime. Say yep,
(25:36):
and which is where my kids are at? This is
their last day. They go back to school tomorrow. So
last night was officially their last non school.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
Night, their last stay up late night.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
Their last stay up of summer vacation. And it also
happened to be the day that their mom uh had
to go to a work trip in Las Vegas, so
it was also dad's solo parenting the beginning of a
week of that So like sounds like.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
A super move that that falls up exactly.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
Yeah, and it was actually on a blue moon. Oddly enough,
that's what we had yesterday. If we heard ones in
a blue moon, that's where we're at. And so I
told my kids, I'm like, look, guys, last night, let's
do it up.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
It's the three of us.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
You can get whatever takeout you want, and after that
we can do whatever activities you guys want around the
house as long as it doesn't cost me money. That
was really just the gauntlet I threw down. I'll spend
money on dinner. We're not going and doing any other
crazy stuff. And they were stoked. So my son Chick
fil A all day long, Chick fil A right off
(26:34):
the bat, my daughter q Doba. They just happened to
be right next to each other in front of that
Mayer over in the Cascade area. So I was like, fine,
we'll do it up together. I got something from both places.
Just throw that out there. And then it was what
are we gonna do here tonight? We played pickleball. Oh,
they wanted to play me at pickleball, and then they
(26:56):
made me. I said, no spending money, but I did
spend the money. We watched speakab me for.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
It's cute, isn't it?
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Yeah, we watched it.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
We watched it at home last night, and I was
thinking about it, and that's so on brand for what
I would have done as a ten year old as well.
But it would have been different because I would have
been asking to go to Family Video and hoping to
God that the new release has still had a couple
of the VHS's behind the box that actually showed you
what movie was there, because you know, I mean, there's
(27:25):
a good chance if it was a good flick, it
was already gonna be writed it out. Well.
Speaker 5 (27:28):
Speaking of spending money, were you remember allowed to buy
the concessions at Family Video?
Speaker 1 (27:32):
I wasn't, No, not a Family video If that was happening.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
It was like we're gonna make the pit stop at
like the supermarket where everything's cheaper, and also I gotta
get milk and eggs for the morning, so like that's
your only chance.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
We're getting snacks there. But like, what are you gonna do?
As ten year old? You? What's that? Last night?
Speaker 3 (27:49):
A summer vak looked like in the Schmidty Household, Ooh.
Speaker 5 (27:53):
It's probably a movie or a show that's on after
my bedtime. Ah No, I can remember in second grade
I watched this Disney Channel show called Ocean Girl, but
it started at eight thirty and my bedtime was eight o'clock.
And I remember spending all summer convincing my parents they
can stay up until nine to watch.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
The eight thirty show.
Speaker 5 (28:13):
And it premiered the week before school started. And man,
core memory that I did.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
That Ocean Girl. Most of us don't even remember.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
This show, so I can't find it anywhere.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
What would you do as ten year old you in
that last gasp of summer? A lot of people definitely
doing the movie in there. How about go to Subway
from my favorite sandwich and then go to the beach
one last time. That's a good one for West Michigan
for sure. We got this all going up on Facebook
right now. We want to know what ten year old
you is going to do before you go terrorize your
(28:44):
new teacher for the year six one six seven or
at West Michigan stuff. Sometimes because I get a good FeelA, well,
let's take a positive step into this day, Schmidti. It's
starting on found point seven Mack and SCHMITTI feeling good
right now?
Speaker 5 (29:01):
This sounds incredible. So August Raski, one of the newest
players assigned to our Grain Rapids Rise otherwise goes by Danger,
just posted this to her Instagram yesterday about an incredible
partnership she is gear up for with Art Prize.
Speaker 7 (29:21):
Hey everyone, Danger here. As you know, my career in
pro volleyball is taking me to Grand Rapids, Michigan to
play for the Rise next season, and as an artist,
I couldn't be more excited. Grand Rapids is overflowing with art.
The city itself hosts an annual international art competition called
art Press. This year, Art Prize is teaming up with
two phenomenal organizations to create a revolutionary digital art exhibit.
(29:45):
This exhibit not whenly celebrates artistic innovation and technology, but
it supports the local community as well. And guess what,
you guys can be.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
A part of it too. This sounds amazing.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
Art Prize teaming up with August and the New Day
Foundation for Families and they're creating a digital art exhibit
that not only shows innovation and technology, but is also
going to support those that are facing a financial burden
because of cancer treatments. You can participate. Your face will
literally become a symbol of individual support and a collective
(30:20):
power for a sustainable, creative future. I'm just starting to
kind of dig into this. It sounds amazing. If you
want to learn more, facefunding dot com. I'll also put
Dangers Incredible insta story at West Michigan Stars so you
can check out some more details.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
I'm really excited to see this.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
I mean, art price always brings together. I mean obviously
the creativity that comes with the art, but ideas like
this outside of the box, to something a little bit
different that winds up helping people through art.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
It looks so incredibly.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
Cool, pretty neat all right.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Foot and security is a problem everywhere, you know, especially
with children, and that includes a Miskegan and the Miskeigan
Heights areas typically well, there's a group that's working to
do that by biking and making some sandwiches. Doctor Mark
Poletti was a chiropractor for ten years but now retired
and he decided to take on hunger, joining forces with
his friend Ray McCloud. They are both members of the
(31:14):
Muskegon County Bicycle Coalition and that got them thinking how
can they use their love of biking to help their
community out. So what they've done is they started by
dropping off loaves of bread to different food pantries around
the Muskegon Heights area, like this the US Cafe where
you can take what you need and leave, which you
(31:34):
can several other pantries as well. And then it turned into, hey,
you know, if we took these loaves of bread and
we made them sandwiches instead of one person just coming
along and grabbing the whole loaf of bread, we'd be
able to feed lots of people. So that's what they've
been doing. They bike for about ninety minutes every Tuesday
night and then they gather about ten to ten to
twelve of them to make thirteen to fourteen loaves of
(31:58):
bread worth of sandwiches, dozens and dozens of sandwiches. Then
the next morning they go on their rounds and they
drop off those sandwiches at several food pantries around the
Muskegon Heights area. Talking to thirteen on your side, these
guys are having a great time helping people out.
Speaker 5 (32:15):
It's a lot of fun for them to just come
and help themselves to whatever they need.
Speaker 10 (32:19):
Being on a bike, we got more of a pulse
of the city. We can see who's out there and
who's in need. You ride along and you know, people
honk and wave at you and say thank y'all, thank
you out of their car.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
They're not even stopping, or they stopping, they ask how
can I help?
Speaker 10 (32:34):
Everybody is so kind, they're you know, please, thank you
and God bless are the three things I hear the most.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Please, thank you and God bless are the things I
hear the most.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
Pretty nice, that's pretty awesome, So big shout out to
those guys making sandwiches while following their.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
Passion over in Biskeigon.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
Feeling good always wants to point out people doing great things,
especially when they're in our community. Just like both of
those stories, Let's do it again tomorrow six forty five
and nine to twenty. Here start one oh five point
seven Mack and Schmidty in the morning weekday, starting at
six am on Star one oh five point seven
