Speaker 1 (00:02):
Wakem It gets my day going.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
It makes me laugh. I love it. Mac and Schmitty
in the Morning on Star one of five point seven.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Good morning, Smitty, Good morning. Welcome into your Wednesday. Starting
out a bit chillier mid forties around West Michigan to
start your day with, but be a little bit warmer
than yesterday's. We'll see highs get into the mid seventies today,
according to our friends at Storm Teamate. That'll get your
forecast down the way. But you know what I know today, Schmitty,
everyone's hearts are just don't little bit warmer this morning.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Not everybody's. I gotta tell you, there's still a few
people going hard. Yes. Of course, we are going to
be covering the Taylor Swift News all morning long. I've
got stuff from Dad Kelsey, I've got stuff from celebrities.
I'm gonna have audio of people around the world learning
about this. And I would just like to take a
moment and say you're welcome. Because big, awesome things only
(00:57):
happen when I nap. Took my nap yesterday, as I
do post show most days, I wake up text messages, DMS,
missed calls. I was like two hours behind and yet
I still hopped on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and I was like,
there you guys go, You're welcome. Big things only happen
when I napped. But this was not a recent engagement
(01:20):
I did. I called this I'm gonna give myself to
my own horn, not a recent engagement. Like I said,
I'm gonna have a ton of details. Travis's dad is
actually dropping quite a few pieces of information about when
this happened, where it happened, and now Vegas takes over
the odds of what we're gonna see next.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
That's what I want to see. I want to see
some of the Betty nods and some of the fun things.
Yeah for sure. Well we call her Schmidt, you can
call her noster Domas because she'll have your latest selib
scoop on the way, maybe make a couple more correct predictions.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
It's the celebrity Scoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Honestly, I think the world may have shook When the
instagram was posted yesterday afternoon, Taylor Swift engaged to Travis
Kelsey that's right, and she put it on her Instagram
with some very perfect garden picks of the two. The
couple actually sharing joint posted photos Travis down on one
knee with the caption your English teacher and your Jim
(02:22):
Teacher are getting married. Taylor also said it to her
fan favorite song So High School from the Tortured Poets
Department album, and the world absolutely blew up. This is
live raheey. She is a reporter for CBS News that
was doing a live shot from the White House.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
Taylor Swift is engaged. Taylor Swift is engage. Taylor Swift
is engaged. Come back to me. She just posted it.
Oh my god, oh my god.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
Oh it's huge.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
The ring is joinormous, exciting. Oh my god, oh my god,
oh my god. On her Instagram. It's on her Instagram.
It's on her instagram. Oh my god, oh my god,
oh my god, oh my god, my god.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
I feel like Paul Revere right now.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Oh yeah, it's it's exactly like that. I will have
so much audio this morning, you guys. Because there were
teachers making the announcement, that were principals making the announcement.
It was pretty wild and already we've learned more details,
including that black and white striped dressed Taylor was wearing
for the proposal from Ralph Lorentz. It sold out in
minutes yesterday when the link got posted. You can tell
(03:28):
this went down about a couple weeks ago because we
noticed Travis has shorter hair, which he did in the
middle of training camp. I'll have more on the timeline
from Travis's dad, Ed, who spoke out on some new
details we're learning over the engagement. All of Hollywood popping
in here. We saw big congratulations from Sabrina Carpenter, Britney Mahomes,
(03:51):
her husband Patrick, of course, the Kansas City quarterback, called
them two of the most genuine people and she was
so happy for the pair. A TikToker, Jike Shitan, Avril Labine,
tons of reality stars, literally everyone, almost everyone. I did
see a little backlash from those people that were like, listen,
I'm not a swifty I don't get it, but here's
(04:11):
your warning. You're gonna see a lot of that rock
when the NFL season starts back up.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Well that's what I was gonna say. If there's anybody
who's really disappointed and it's like, are you serious? I
have to go through another Kansas City chief season? The
only thing that they want to talk about is these two.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Yep, there's almost a six million dollar ring. Some people
are estimating Canty Perry and Orlando Bloom May Loon no
longer be a couple, but it doesn't mean they're not
very close and still a big part of each other's lives.
So this is kind of a story that maybe a
little off your radar. Katy Perry was in court yesterday
testifying in an ongoing legal battle between herself and an
(04:49):
elderly entrepreneur over a fifteen million dollar mansion in Monacito, California.
Now Orlando has been dragged into this real estate problem
when he was revealed the actor is the one who
put up all of the money for this mansion through
one of his LLCs, not Katie. She's suing the previous owner,
Carl Wescott, for damages and lost rental value. So Wescot's
(05:13):
attorneys are saying, listen, she has no financial stake in
the property. Dismissed the case, Katie said yesterday, Listen, even
though Orlando and I are no longer together, we are
quote family for life, and so I will still benefit
greatly from the estate. Although she would not confirm whether
her and Orlando are still financial partners.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Well, they do share a child, so there's got to
be shoven twine. You at leave, We'll see you.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
And finally, I was so excited to see this yesterday morning.
In celebration of the twenty fifth anniversary of Gilmore Girls,
We're getting a documentary this October, which is so perfect
searching for stars hollow. It is still in early development,
but Kelly Bishop who played the Grandma, Jared pad Lucky,
(05:57):
and Chad Michael Murray are all signed on for this.
It's set to examine the beloved show's role in American
cultural history. They've got over one hundred hours of never
before seen footage. We're going to hear from Dean Lane,
Gypsy Morgan, Missus King, Miss Patty, just about the entire
cast for this.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
You are speaking Spanish right there, Schmitty, I honestly never.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Really funny girl. Listening right now is like my literal
teenage hood that was shaped by Gomore Girls. So this
is going to be really cool. All of your celeb
scoop at West.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Michigan Star dot Com, Stellino Fine point seven. It's back
and Smitty with feeling good, right now, and I just
want to give a shout out to a local nonprofit
that's been doing big things for people in their lives
the last three years now, making sure they have a
reliable way to get around. It's Uppsycho Bikes, the Grand
Rapids nonprofit that was founded by Rick amber Armburster who's
(06:52):
refurbishing donated bicycles and then check this out. They give
them free of charge to paroleees, to refugees, to people
facing housing instability, and to those who are struggling with
mental health or substance use challenges. Now, since it start,
more than twenty five hundred bikes have been repaired and
donated almost one thousand per year, hundreds of them to
(07:15):
people re entering the community after prison or jail, and
partners like the Michigan Department of Corrections say the bikes
are a lifeline to helping those people get to jobs, appointments,
and opportunities that would be out of reach. As Austin Frye,
who's with the Michigan Department of Corrections told to thirteen
on your side, the.
Speaker 7 (07:33):
Guys that we've been providing bikes for, I mean, this
is their livelihood, it's their lifeline to be able to
get to where they get the money to provide for
their families and to be able to get themselves on
that right footing to state successful and to get to
where they need to be. And there have been a
lot of opportunities that have been opened up to guys
that wouldn't have existed without being able to have a bike.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Now they're able to do ongoing support, so if somebody's
breaks down, they can always swap it out or bring
it in to be repaired free of charge. They are
run completely on donations and volunteers, so again West Michigan
stepping up for those community members in need. They do
their big fundraiser Pedals for Progress on September eighteenth Upcycle
Bikes dot org.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
If you want to learn more, all right, we talk
about teacher gifts, but what about gifts from a teacher
to her students. Well, I don't think you're gonna top this.
Sarah Shaverer is a teacher over in the UK and
has been working tirelessly to surprise all thirty of her
kids and crocheing personalized dolls. This has almost a million
(08:31):
views on TikTok. She's been crocheting for the past five years,
but dolls were definitely new territory, but she figured this
would be the personalized gift she wanted to give. She
loved her class so much, and she showed up big time.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
I crecated all thirty children in my class a mini
version of themselves to take home as a gift.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
The project came with challenges, she said, Matching skin tones,
getting the right hair color, especially curly hair, was difficult.
She even read searched how to capture certain hairstyles so
the dolls would look identical. She worked every single night
and really really went hard that final weekend, but it worked.
(09:12):
Her kids showed up and all thirty of them had
their own dolls. She's getting praised massively online for this.
It's pretty incredible. People even asking her to now start
an Etsy shop. They're so good. Got it up for
you on our Instagram at West Michigan, Star.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
Movies, Music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
It's the celebrity scoop on Star one oh five point.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Seven, I mean garap for an all Taylor's scoop right.
The big engagement news officially posted yesterday afternoon. Travis Kelce
and Taylor Swift engage looks like the proposal went down
at his massive mansion in Missouri. Gorgeous garden photos. And
now we look at the star power that black and
white striped dress Taylor was wearying. It was actually Ralph Lorenz.
(09:56):
As soon as that was posted, the dress sold out
in minutes. That giant ring, old mine, brilliant cut the
jewelry designer Kindred Lubick, and sources say the jeweler worked
directly with Travis to design the Sparkler at about six
million dollars. The couple obviously thrilled about this. Travis's dad
(10:20):
ed saying that it went down about two weeks ago,
and a lot of people pointing to potential hints during
that New Heights podcast appearance where they were probably trying
to keep it quiet and not say anything after it
had happened speaking on that podcast. An official Guinness World Record,
it was announced yesterday those one point three million YouTube
(10:43):
viewers the biggest concurrent audience in YouTube's history. And that's
where we get to for some breaking Taylor news. Jason
Kelcey actually just posted to the New Heights Instagram moments
ago talking about the episode that will be dropping today
where they're going to be giving a behind the scenes
(11:03):
look and how their episode with Taylor Swift all came together,
while also shouting out the happy couple.
Speaker 8 (11:09):
We set a Guinness Book of World records. That's right,
thanks to the one and only Taylor Swift for hopping
on and designed to talk with two complete idiots that
don't know anything about the music industry. And it was
a doozy. So get ready for a much lower bar
this week. But before we get to that, there is
one gigantic piece of new news that just hit the waves.
(11:30):
We did record this podcast on Monday, which was Travis's
one day off, so he is not here to address
this himself, but we felt necessary as in a team
here at New Heights to get together and send Travis
and Taylor a giant congratulations for being engaged.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
World.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Yeah. My favorite probably memes that have come out of
this is everyone going, Jason Kelsey at your wedding is
going to be the coolest thing ever. That new episode
will drop at nine point thirty this morning, and I
thought this was very cool. Martha Stuart herself has offered
(12:13):
the couple her homemade services, actually posting to her Instagram
after the engagement news hit yesterday, tagging both Taylor and
Travis beside a photo of the couple's engagement shoot, taking
a sip of champagne and posting, it's time to call
in the ultimate wedding planner. I've got the nectar of
(12:36):
the gods and I'm ready.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
I mean, that would be kind of cool.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Kind of Martha Stewart designing your wedding, and I feel
like as kind of I don't know, the earthy, rural,
gorgeous tail. It just fits perfectly, So we will see.
This is, of course what everyone is talking about today.
But I'm excited for that new Heights episode later this morning,
which you can hear on our free iHeartRadio app. All
(13:01):
of your scoop is at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Yeah, ever since you said that, I'm just picturing Jason
Kelcey shirtless doing a keg stand at their wedding together
with a disapproving wife Kylie looking at him.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Actually, people have been posting that dance off he did
during some of the Super Bowl pre parties last year
till like Quinn A nine and stuff. So I think
that's gonna be probably the greatest wedding guest out there.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
All of that Taylor's scoop is still cuming your way
more coming up here on the show, selling a fine
point seven lents, soab it lasts longer than all of
three of Britney's marriages combined. Travis and Taylor of course
this morning, yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Mean, it was the big news yesterday and I think
it's so interesting. Taylor and Travis engaged has become one
of those where were you moments? I mean, my TikTok
was showing college professors literally canceling classes because they were like,
we need the rest of the day to soak in
this news. Principals at grade school coming over intercoms and
(13:58):
going everyone, I know we had a fired earlier. That's
super important, but more important, Travis and Taylor are engaged.
And I just thought to myself, who else has been
this generational? Because I think that's what I've most enjoyed
about watching Taylor Swift. This girl is going all the
way back to two thousand and five, two thousand and six,
(14:18):
So you're talking the millennial women like me who were
in college, in high school, some in junior high when
those first albums came out. They were like, man, we
love Taylor. That now have kids that are like Taylor
Swift had a life before Tortured Poets Department, and I
think that's really cool. I really love finding generational things.
(14:40):
And I posted about this on my TikTok yesterday. I said,
who else kind of jumps to mind that has been
able to just transform so many different age groups of people, Like,
how weird is it that you were in high school
listening to her music for a heartbreak and now you're
my daughter is in junior high listening to her music
(15:02):
for a heartbreak. That's really wild. It is well that
she's been in the spotlight in the industry for that long.
And I had some really interesting answers. People pointed out
Lady Gaga. Yep, they said, you know what, Gaga was
my formative high school, early college years. Now I'm taking
my daughter to her Monster's Ball concert, and you know
(15:24):
that's insane. Michael Jackson is another one. They were like,
my parents loved him as the Jackson five. I was
a grown adult in the eighties and nineties for his
solo career, and I think everybody kind of remembers when
the lawsuit news dropped and he had all those.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Court hearings and his death and everything else the watershed moment.
While we're on that, let's just not forget. Also, Michael
Jackson's son Prince also get it engaged yesterday, talk about
the worst time for that news to come out.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
Well, that's interesting because one of the greatest i mean
social media was just so on fire yesterday and I
lumped the tweet from someone that said, Wow, pretty bad
timing for everybody else that was considering an engagement tonight.
Someone somewhere has had their plans absolutely ruined. Madonna came up. Yeah,
another generational one. I I know Madonna as a ray
(16:17):
of light. I did not listen to any of her
eighties stuff. I didn't really listen to her early nineties stuff.
She's like a two thousand singer to me, and my
mom is like, well, we played her at our wedding.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
So what about all the nineties kids that think of
Gwen Stefani as a punk artist? Yeah? Still, you know
what I mean. Now she's making Wizard of Oz Remkes
with Blake Shelton and hanging out in the country world.
But she was that punk rocker, was sublime back in
the day.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
I think it's crazy that we still have Paul McCartney going,
oh my goodness, I mean that gosh what they first
met in like the wait fifties before their sixties selves
took over the US.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Do you feel like it's because we don't have a monarchy,
because we don't have a king and queen that people
get this obsessed about something like an engagement that like
Taylor is essentially our Princess Diana at this mamal people.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
Said that about the Kennedy's, So maybe I just think
it's really interesting to see someone in pop culture that
just continues, like what do we see next? Will they
have kids? Are we about to see maternal Taylor Swift
or are we about to see fun aunt Taylor Swift
for life?
Speaker 1 (17:21):
I think maternal No.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
I just think it's so interesting those generational people for
you think about who they might be. Give us a
call if you've had maybe a special experience with your kids,
like yes, you're finally sharing something together that spans this
long of a time six one six four five eight
one oh five seven, can leave us a talk back
on our free iHeartRadio app. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
I don't know about the ultimates, you know, pregnant or not,
but you can bet on it right now that prop
bet is out there already Smitty, oh gross on a
fun points Seeah, good morning to you. It's Mack and
Schmitty and call in all perfect parents your liars. And
we know it because we own up to our parents
and fails each and every week. It is another reached confess.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
I said it. I'm not ashamed of this at all.
We were having leftovers for dinner last night and it
was tacos, and my husband makes the best tacos in
the whole wide world. He does like some veggies in there,
and he's got like a homemade's sauce. They're just their
next level. And I was so apparenting last night. He
(18:24):
was out doing some showings, and I'm not gonna lie
to you. I hid the tacos. I gave my kids
leftover chicken and fired up some veggies and I sat
there after they went to bed, and I put like
ten tacos down and I had the greatest Tuesday night
of my life.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Reached confess. It's not that there wasn't enough for everybody
to go around. It's it wasn't enough for mom.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
Moodies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Oh man, oh boy, do we have a lot to
get too. Now they are officially engaged. That's right, Taylor
Swift and Travis Kelsey. The caption on Instagram your English
teacher and your gym teacher are getting married. Rumor has
it more than a six million dollar engagement ring and
old mind brilliant cut That jeweler Kendrick Lubeck actually worked
(19:20):
right alongside Traviswift to design. And now we're hearing even
more from Travis's dad, Ed, this is a pretty good
get for News five in Cleveland, who got to sit
down with Travis's dad, had a lot to say. The
proposal was about two weeks ago and said he was
going to put it off until this past week, but
(19:43):
he thinks Taylor was getting a little antsy. It did
go down at their garden home in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
That is where Travis has his big, old mansion. And
I thought this was so sweet. Ed talking about how
they're still the little kids that both parents raised.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
It was kind of funny. About a week ago, asked
Travis's so when are you going to? Uh?
Speaker 5 (20:06):
When are you?
Speaker 6 (20:07):
When are you going to announce the engagement, he said,
whenever Taylor says, so, I think we're prepared as you
can be for something like this. Kind of look at
it the same way that I'm sure this is do.
This is still the little kid they raised at home. Okay, yes,
they've they've both had a lot of success in their
in their endeavors, and and they get a lot of
(20:27):
notoriety and a lot of a lot of attention, But
they're still the same people that we raised, and it's
just it just makes you feel good to see a
couple this much in.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Love, and that's so sweet. He said that no official
wedding planning has occurred quite yet, but everybody is really
really excited. That includes none other than President Trump. He
was actually in the middle of a White House press
conference inside the Oval Office when one of the reporters
(20:58):
pointed to some pretty big news.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
I have to tell you, the biggest pop culture news
of the year broke while we're in this cabinet meeting.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift are engaged in monster reactions here.
Speaker 9 (21:09):
Well, I wish him a lot of love. I think
it's I think he's a great player. I think he's
a great guy, and I think that she's a terrific person,
so I wish them.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
A lot of love.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
I also thought my Michigan fans would enjoy this. I
saw the meme everywhere. Congrats to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelcey,
who announced their engagement seven hundred and two days after
going public with their relationship. That's a long courtship, but
it's still one three hundred and ninety four days, shy
of the two thousand, ninety six days that Ohio State
(21:43):
fans have gone without seeing their football.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Team beat Michigan.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
So there you go, love, and of course, with an
engagement as big as this, Vegas is getting in on
the odds. The folks at betonline dot ag are releasing
nuptial themed betting odds. The most intriguing one and I've
posted about this yesterday. The couple's bridal party, so not surprising.
Kelsey's big brother Jason is by far the favorite to
(22:09):
be that best man, but for maid of Honor, Abigail Anderson, Lucier,
Martha Hunt, Carl Klaus, and Selena Gomez all garner same odds.
They believe that Taylor will have three different outfit changes
on her big day, and for where the ceremony will
take place, Tennessee is actually the current favorite, though Kansas
(22:31):
City and LA are tied in second, and they are
saying either right before or right after the fourth of
July twenty twenty six for the wedding date.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Okay, so I have questions here. How do you think
it's gonna play out in terms of visibility Schmiddy, Because
obviously this is the biggest couple that could be getting
married in pop culture around this time. They could sell
pay per views to this thing for like a hundred
bucks of podcast. I think they're going to do that.
Of course they they're not going to do it. But
will they give the fans or whatever some glimpse of
(23:05):
it while it's happening or will they wait weeks for weeks?
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Okay, I'm saying one hundred percent on that. I think
the fact that they waited a couple of weeks just
for the engagement, I don't think you're seeing anything from
the wedding.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Wait wait, wait, wait, wait, mine just exploded, Schmidty. What
if they did it during a Super Bowl halftime show?
Oh god, I'm just saying.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
I will point out though I think my favorite Vegas
odds right now? Who will show cleavage first? Jason or
Donna Kelsey? Okay, all right, all of your scoop at
West Michigan Star dot.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
Com seven to fine point seven. It'smack and Schmidt. It
it is your chance to battle. Battle of the Sex
is right now looking to land you over at our
Frederick Meyer Gardens in sculpture park. You know, just the
number one sculpture park in the entire country for what
was it three years in a row? Now, schmidty, so sweet?
Speaker 3 (23:46):
All right, here's your battle question. We've got one hundred
men surveyed. Name something that's usually overpriced in a tourist area.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Here, allow me to save you a hint. Everything everything
is overpriced.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
When you're in a fudge fence, no offence, it's delicious.
Six one six, four five eight, one oh five seven
callers seven. We're looking for today's number one answer. One
hundred men surveyed names something that's usually overpriced in a
tourist area. You win, and you're going to the Frederick
Meyer Gardens with Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Good morning, Star. Who's this.
Speaker 5 (24:23):
Anna?
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Your name is Anna, Anna? And Emma awesome Anna, how
old are you? Eight years old? So are you in
third grade this year? Yeah? Congratulations. How do you like
your new teacher?
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Roaguewood Rosewood, Roguewood, Roaguewood.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Yeah, I've been to Roguewood Actually awesome. All right, rogue
Wood Elementary. Shout out to Anna and all the kids
over there at Roguewood. You're representing right now. You got
to tell me. Hunter. Guys were asked to name something
that's usually way overpriced in a tourist area. What do
you guys think? The top answer is you're going with food. Yeah,
but you know, when you go to a tourist area
(25:01):
like Schmitty mentioned fudge, like when you go to Mackinaw
Island or you go to a fair or something like that,
the foods like one of the best parts though, right, Yeah, Yeah,
that's how they get you to pay extra for it. Anna,
that's the right answer. You. Yeah, you won four tickets
to go check out the Frederick Meyer Gardens and Sculpture Park.
(25:22):
You're gonna get over there and have a lot of fun.
You are so welcome. Yeah. It was food and drinks,
followed by hotels, then clothing and souvenirs. Rounding out those
top answers. So anna holding it down for Roguewood Elementary
and you're our winner today. Heck yes, way to go, guys.
Good morning's you. It's Mac and Schmitty and you won't
(25:43):
be able to escape it now, just like you won't
be able to escape it during the football season. Taylor
Swift and Travis Kelsey are engaged.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
And you know, promps to dropping it in the middle
of a Tuesday afternoon where you knew nothing else was
going on.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
So I just saw this too, like, you know, the Swifties,
they can't help but put the you know, the Easter
eggs all together. Smitty. She made the announcement yesterday right
about one o'clock ye on Instagram, the thirteenth hour of
the day. Schmidty, Like, literally, everything has gotta be some
clue or some tie in with all of this stuff
surrounding Taylor.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
So the stuff I was seeing was crazy. I saw
a TikTok of a college professor that called off class
when this happened. I saw a video of a principle
of an elementary school that came over the intercom and
was like, I know, we had a fire drill earlier
but this is as important. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey
are engaged. It's pretty wild.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
How about the conference yesterday for the President. They're in
the middle of a cabinet meeting.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
Cabinet meeting, and the reporter brought it up.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
That is that takes serious stacy just to be like,
excuse me, let's stop all these important worldwide issues that
we're talking about to address the most important thing that
we could possibly talk about.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Right Why thing? It's wid So I went and picked
my kids up from school yesterday and I wasn't sure
if they knew or not. Plus Will's not He's not
gonna understand. This doesn't really get like engagements. He listens
to Taylor Swift, but he's not quite at that point
that maybe other people might be like our neighbor girl
who was obsessed. And so he came and picked him up,
(27:13):
and he always asks, you know, oh, how mum, how
was your day? I said, well, did you hear the news?
And I said, I've had a pretty busy last couple hours.
With Taylor Swift getting engaged. I've never seen wildfire like
this in human beings. The neighbor girl that walks home
with us goes what the Taylor Swift is engaged? Two
girls down?
Speaker 1 (27:33):
What I mean?
Speaker 3 (27:34):
It spread to like it started with the walkers, then
it went to the Scoop gang, then it hit the bicyclists,
and all these kids are just like what And then
you watch the parents that are like, yeah, it's pretty sweet.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
You know, my daughter found out at school, so her
and her mom celebrated. But I would have loved to
a bit of fly on the wall because I know
at middle schools across America yesterday so many little girls
that went and saw the Heiress tour or were just
big fans around all their little girlies probably bawling their
eyes out.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Bit boy two, let's not let the gender stereotype here.
There are a lot of boys that were like, oh,
this is awesome, and you know what, kudos to everyone
already putting the engagement starter pack together with a Travis
Kelsey jersey. I hope he gets a cut of that
NFL shop because brother is about to make more than
he probably does on the field with that.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
Honestly, do you think that Taylor Swift like a like
a Swift jersey, just a thirteen Swift jersey? I bet
you that is probably in like the top ten most
jersey sold this season this week.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
Go put it out there.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
I'm sure not afraid to make a buck off for
that's absolutely for sure. How did your family find out
about the Taylor Swift news? Was it ridiculous? It is
up online at West Michigan Star. Well, let me start
the day in a little bit of a mood. Just
come hang out with us, all right, we'll perk you
up a little bit. Family good right now in starven
a five point seven. What's happenings?
Speaker 3 (28:54):
So we're all talking about the Taylor Swift thing, and
I know you've been pointing out a lot of the
girls going wild. I thought it was very important to
talk about the men who are Swifties as well, including
this University of Tennessee professor that literally canceled and exam
when the news broke.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Have a biocam midterm today.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
But Taylor and Travis just got engaged due to this information.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
I can't focus, you can focus. Classes canceled, get out
of here.
Speaker 7 (29:25):
We got to go.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
To process this information.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
We need time to process this information. That's Associate Professor
Matthew Pittman, who did cancel the midterm, admits It was
a bit of a hilarious skit because he talks a
lot of pop culture moments, but the students were absolutely
over the moon. Some of my favorite comments he knows
(29:49):
better than to schedule an exam on a national holiday.
Not all heroes wear capes. And this is the horrible, strict,
no nonsense professors that high school teachers warn you about.
Really hilarious stuff. Got it up on our instagram at
West Michigan Star.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
I just like how you can hear that one mega
swifty dude.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
Oh wow, there's a runner. Somebody literally sprints up the steps.
Phone out eyah, big deal.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Too funny, all right, Spinty. Right now near downtown Grand Rapids,
over by Housman Fields, there are benches going in swings,
a cyclone play structure, a space module, a crawlway, and
of course his sensory wave too. Is a brand new
playground going up today near downtown Grand Rapids, a three
hundred thousand dollars playground at Housman Fields. Now I bring
(30:35):
it up because why well, there are over forty volunteers
out there right now making this happen. And what used
to be just an empty lot over there near Housman
Field now going to be an awesome place for kids
to go play in their neighborhood again. Big shout out
to all the volunteers and of course the Grand Rapids
Parks and Rack Department in the Midhound Neighborhood Association putting
(30:57):
it all together so that kids will have an awesome
new spot. If you want to volunteer, by the way too,
they're not turning anybody away. You just got to sign
a waiver. They're gonna be doing it until four pm
today and then again on Friday from eight thirty to
four pm. You can get over there and join those
community members who are all given back.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
Yeah we used to live in Minton. It's a bunch
of really good people.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
Yeah, doing really good things. And that's like who we
want to highlight every day and feeling good people doing
awesome things out in our world. We'll do it again
for you tomorrow six forty five and nine twenty on
Star Mack
Speaker 2 (31:26):
And Schmidty in the morning weekday starting at six am
on Star one oh five point seven
