It mac Inchmitty in the morning on Star one oh
five point seven. Good morning, Good morning, Welcome into your Thursday,
belovedly noticed weekend eve around here.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yeah, even better when it's ahead of a holiday weekend,
you guys, we can almost smell that Friday into a
little labor day extension.

Speaker 1 (00:25):

around West Fishing, and right now I might even see
a stray shower thunderstorm pop up, especially this morning here,
I'm looking ahead to the weekend, Schmitty. It looks beautiful.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Honestly, Tonight looks nice.

Speaker 2 (00:38):

a lot of parents getting ready. I know where I'm
at in Rockford, we're super stoked. We're welcoming an East
Side team to the field tonight, so.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
That kind of like showery possible pop up.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Things should be clearing out later this afternoon, so it
looks like a pretty sweet.

So if you're dying for some more beach Days, Labor Days.
Gatchet covered all right.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
It's the Celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Well hang on, because the Taylor Swift effect has already
hit the NFL. According to Fanatics, the official e commerce
partner of both the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs,
Travis Kelsey jerseys are flying off the internet shelves. In
a statement, they say that Kelsey Jersey sales spiked more

(01:35):
than two hundred percent from Monday to Tuesday, when the
couple announced their engagement. They also added it was the
tight end's best selling day since the Super Bowl back
in February. Not surprising because we're also learning that the
post from Taylor and Travis temporarily crashed Instagram so many

(01:56):
people were flocking to it. Everybody wants in this so
high school. That's the Taylor Swift song she used for
her Instagram post has now surged over four hundred percent
in streams. We've seen businesses like Krispy Kreme and California
Pizza Kitchen rolling out special love story deals.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
I mean, you just can't stop with these two.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
It's going to get worse. Everyone I got news.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
We's so better.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yeah, but I'm just saying the onslaught of Travis and
Taylor TNT is going to be exploding for at interesting.
That's what they put on their EMOCHI. That's what people thought.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
All right.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Comedian Polly Shore begging people to get their bodies checked
by a doctor because it may have saved his life.
He's telling fans he recently underwent surgery to remove a
tumor from his pancreas.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
She found a small tumor inside my pancreas seven dealing
with it for the last couple months. Yeah, So we're
here at Cedars Sinai and they're going to be taking
it out. We're going to get rid of it. It's
like a devil that send me. It's a devil that
send me right, Yes, get it out right right then.
And that's that. So let's see on the other side, all.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Right, So good news.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
The tumor was benign, and in fact, doctors think it
may have been in there undetected for up to twenty years.
But doctor said it is the best to get it out.
That's what Pauly did, telling fans, I figured that a body.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Scan is what I needed. To be doing. Being in
my fifties, this was the best way to go. They
look for everything, and because of that, I am here
now very healthy and recovered. He did point out, though
I understand these full body scans are between one and
two thousand dollars, so it's not always within the means

(03:49):
of certain people, but very important to nonetheless keep your
physicals on the calendar.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
I just want to know, so a full body scan,
and he just was able to see something that might
have been there for two twenty years. Imagine just not
knowing that it's there.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Though, these scans are very different than anything I think
we've ever had. These are really high end stuff, all right. Finally,
Anne Hathaway, so for quite an epic tumble in heels
while filming the new Devil Wears Prada sequel, recovered like
a propro camera.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Fine.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Her heel actually broke while she was walking down cement stairs.
Absolutely biffed it and no worries. Popped right back up,
said she's fine, she's fine, Let's keep it going. In
true Anne Hathaway form, I've got the video with your
scoop at West Michigan Star dot Com.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
A fine point seven. It's back and spitty, and sometimes
we can all use a little extra boost, a little
extra push to get the day started right. That's what
we're here for. I feeling good right now, And I
got to tell you about a magical land that's up
near Pentwater, Michigan, where during a big storm, one of
homeowner Mary Fuller's favorite big tree got knocked down and
all she was left with was this massive stump sitting

(05:04):
in the middle of her yard. And professional tree removal,
as any of you have ever tried to do that before,
you know, it gets pretty expensive. Well, her neighbors Mike
and Kathy decided they would step in and help Mary
with the project, and what began is Mike's little wood
carvings pretty quickly grew into an insanely cool and detailed
miniature world. Kathy adding crafted touch incredible spots on this

(05:28):
like a golf course, a donuts shop, there's a dragon,
and more. And pretty quickly everybody in the neighborhood started
noticing more and more of these incredible scenes being built
into this tree, and it's brought people together. Listen to
some of the stuff they told their local news was
a part of this incredible magical land.

Speaker 5 (05:48):
I love the swimming pool in the back, the golf course,
the beer garden, woof beer garden, and then the dragon.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
So many things to see about it. I love that
it's brought joy to the kids.

Speaker 6 (05:58):
I say.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
It what hello, I like them, don't drop in the back.
It for like mornings.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
I like birth.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Yeah, those were kids, Miles and Decklan who come by
and visit the tree every single day. It's become the
gathering spot for the entire neighborhood, and the project has
just brought them all a bit closer together. If you
want to actually check it out, The whole Fairy Village
is on North Rush Street in Pentwater.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
All Right, we all know how hard it can be
when you send your babies off to that big first
day of kindergarten. But for one kindergarten teacher, she had
the best idea. The kindergarten teacher at the Kray Elementary
in Arkansas has gone viral calming parents' anxiety over those
babies heading back to school. On Instagram, she writes, grab
the tissues, watch and hear their heart felt reassurance.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Parents. You need to hear this. It's ok mom, I
went to art today. It's okay.

Speaker 5 (06:57):
Mom My, teacher's willing nice.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
It's okay, Well, I make flu French today. Okay, Mama,
y book today.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Okay, mom prase plato today.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
It's okay, Mommy, I had so U friendic. Its sweet?

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Is those little voices, and parents in the comments are like, yeah,
if you could actually arrange this for my eighth and
tenth gradeer two, heck, even my son in college.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
It's such a good idea.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
I'll put it up on Instagram so you can see
the cute little faces behind those cute little voices. Movies, music,
and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
All right, it's either a new album or an anniversary celebration.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
Really hoping for the first one.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Rihanna just making a big social media announcement, changing her
profile picture as well as her header to all of
her different album titles and her longtime label Rockney, revealing
this Friday actually marks the twentieth anniversary of Pond the
replay Going Wild, which is off her debut album Music

(08:10):
of the Sun.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
So a lot of fans are like, please, please.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
After nine long years, are you telling us that this
Friday you could finally start previewing some new music off
of a new album. I'm not sure it wouldn't surprise
me if it is just a celebration of anniversary and
everything that she's accomplished since don't forget girlfriend is still
pregnant with her third baby. But I wouldn't put it

(08:36):
past Rihanna to be able to say, hey, I've also
been working on a bunch of stuff between kids.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
So here it is.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
You would think, well, bet tweet the last decade of
teasing new music and saying you're in the studio. I
believe there were talks of a double album at one
point in time. You thinks it'd be like a collection
of ten to fifteen songs they could slap together and
make a few millions will see.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Travis Kelcey didn't even trust his own teammates with the
news of his engagement to Taylor Swift, keeping it secret
from all of them. So Noah Gray, who is in
tight end meetings every single day with Travis, had a
press conference post practice yesterday saying he found out about
the proposal like everybody else.

Speaker 6 (09:18):
Found out same way you guys did, and I'm extremely
happy for them. I'm not going to get too much
more into their personal life. But just now, I'm extremely
happy for him. I'm sure everybody is, so it's a
beautiful thing, and really really.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Happy for him. He's the second player now who has
said Travis really really kept this secret. We had absolutely
no idea while we were practicing with him every day
that he was planning this elaborate self.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
That's because Taylor's lawyers probably made him sign an NDA.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
Oh so romantic.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Finally, speaking of that upcoming at some point Travis and
Taylor wedding, Guess who wants to officiate? None other than
Super Swifty Flame.

Speaker 5 (10:01):
Flavor Flav right here in the building, a k a.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
King Swifty.

Speaker 5 (10:07):
I want to congratulate my girl, Taylor Swift on her
engagement to my boy, Trav Is Kelsey. Now, my girl
Taylor is engaged to my boy. I'm stoked. I can't
wait for the wedding. Not only that, but when y'all
get married, let your boy Flavor Flay be the officiator.

(10:27):
I would love to officiate the wedding, you know what
I'm saying. But most of all, congratulations Taylor and Travis.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (10:36):
May God bles y'all with the longest prosperous marriage ever.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Now, Flave is not an officially registered officiator, but says
he would become one in a second if Taylor and
Travis wanted him to do it.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
I don't know if he's your pick for officiating, yeah,
but if nothing else, he should be the one doing
the announcements as the bride and grew make their way
up the reception, right, I mean, he's got the call out.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Give him a clock necklace. All right, all of your celebscoo.
But West Michigan Star dot com.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
It's Mack and Swaddy hanging out. And you talked about
odd flexes.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Funny flexes. I mean, there's always kind of the weird
type of thing. But I feel like I've made this
my entire personality lately. I love trivia and your girl
is back on top. So I played trivia all through,
like my first three years out of college. I met
a bunch of people with the job here and I

(11:32):
would go every single Tuesday and Thursday. Back in the day,
we'd play at Benegan's on Alpineses. You know how long
ago that was Benegans in about ten years and we
had a team of like fifteen, and then after we
kind of all went our separate ways and people moved away.
I didn't get to do it for a really long time.
And then a few weeks ago one of my friends said, hey,

(11:55):
you're up in Rockford. Why would you want to go
and join us for trivia at the corner bar? Like, yeah,
it's been a bit. Oh, I'm all in.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
I think I'm gonna make us T shirts. We have
a team name.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
That unfortunately I can't stay on the air, but we
have been in the top three every single time we've played.
And last night was another it's every Wednesday night. And
I got home last night and my husband was like,
this is so you're this is really you love this
because I'll get home and be like, You'll not believe this, babe.
Question number ten it was a Simon says, but Simon

(12:29):
didn't say it, so we left the line blank and
guess what.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Only ones that got it right.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Like, I just think it's so funny what people will
get so passionate about. And now for me, it's trivia.
I missed bar trivia so much.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
I cannot believe how excited I see.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
You rather love I love and you feel so smart.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Like last night was Love Jack to School elementary trivia
and I was like, step aside, I've got this and
it's just so funny you do.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
So what do you do when it's like things about
eighties movies of which I've known you've seen, Like we
have we gotten there yet?

Speaker 2 (13:06):
It was music trivia three weeks ago and I nailed that.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
You better crushed.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
I was like, you, guys, I only need the first
ten seconds of the intro and we are going to
be good to go. Well, Like, do you have a
weirder funny flex? A funny one?

Speaker 1 (13:19):
I don't know if it's that funny, but I love
the flex about my parallel parking. There is nothing it's
a good one. There's nothing I like better, because first off,
let me just qualify my wife is terrible at it.
Michelle cannot parallel park to save her life. It gives
her great anxiety. It bothers her parallel park so when
she's with me and I can do it in one
fluid motion like a robot, where I'm barely even looking,

(13:42):
and it's just about the angles you have done, the
three points oh back forward, I'm not only That's how
I get into almost all of them. But the whole
key for me is if I can do it without
ever having to pull back out again, you know what
I mean, not to pull forward and overcorrect or whatever.
If I can just do it in one sweet fluid motion. God,
I'm gonna talk about it all day long.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
So here's where I'm gonna call you out. Do you
have a backup camera?

Speaker 1 (14:06):
I do, But this has always been true. This is
always bach.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Because I'm gonna tell you I parked in front of
the library a couple weeks ago. I do not have
a backup camera, and I did it in one fluid
motion and there was a woman returning books outside and
I jumped out of that car.

Speaker 6 (14:21):
So did you see that?

Speaker 3 (14:22):
I don't even have a backup camera, ma'am.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
So let me get extra bougie then with you. My
older brother has a vehicle where it's one of those
ones that will parallel park itself, and he literally pulled
his car forward and pushed a button and it did
it for him. That's a flex too, right there. That's
a different kind of flex for sure.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Your funny flex six one six, four five eight, one
oh five seven something that it's like, hey, if this
is my entire personality. People love me for it, or
you gonna drop a talk back. I know there's other
people that love trivia as much as I do. Hit
us up on our free iHeartRadio app, movies, music, and
all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
It's the Saltelebrities Goop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Well, a new episode of the New Heights podcast dropped yesterday,
and remember Jason Kelsey saying this was recorded back on Monday,
so pre big engagement news for Taylor Swift and Travis.
But they kind of went down everything they loved about
having Taylor on the pod last week, including this moment.
I was just like, he's just a vibe booster in

(15:25):
everyone's life that he's in.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
He's like a human exclamation point.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Jason was so thrilled, he said, when you said Travis
was a human exclamation point, I was like, dang, she's
really bleeping good with words. I mean, that's better than
Big Yetti. The human exclamation point. That is my brand
new nickname for Travis Kelsey. I'm stealing it and I'm
putting it on everything.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
It seems pretty accurate at all. Honesty.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Speculation that Ryan Reynolds and Robert Downey Junior had a
massive blow up on the set of the New Avengers
Doomsday movie are simply not true. So these rumors have
been circulating for the past week or so. The Internet
cooked up some kind of story that there was a
verbal fight between the two stars. They didn't give names,

(16:12):
but people were like, this kind of sounds like Ryan
Reynolds and Robert Downey Junior. It got to the point
where people were taking sides. Here's the thing, Ryan and
Robert know of each other. They've never even met in person.
The two are very friendly. They kicked around the idea
of maybe Robert Downey Junior having a cameo in Deadpool
and Wolverine, and then during the pandemic they zoomed together

(16:34):
for a fantasy football league to raise money for charity.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
That's as close as the two have gotten.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
According to sources, Ryan has nothing but respect and adulation
for our DJ. It's also worth noting that Reynolds has
not even been confirmed to reprise Deadpool in Doomsday, so
all of this is just total internet lore.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
It's a bummer because I'd actually like to see those
two very witty guys in a sharp tug argument together.
That sounds entertaining.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Finally, if you are the Backstreet Boys, you are making bank.
We now know just how much money they are raking
in with this Las Vegas residency. Four million dollars a night. Yeah,
so this is brilliant when you think about it. Sources
say there is not a ton of overhead or significant expense.

(17:24):
They paid a one time fee of seven to eight
million for all the graphics they use in the entire show,
So they made that back in like the first two nights.
Plus the seventeen thousand seats at the Sphere have sold
out every single night, and with VIP tickets and platinum packages,
they are over the moon. Plus they're making as much

(17:47):
as a stadium tour and they have to do zero traveling.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
You know what's interesting about it.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
That's brilliant business.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Factory Boys too is like as opposed to n Sync.
Like in Sync, I think to myself, like, okay, justin
Timberlakes get a demas and more of the bill because
he's the name that came afterwards with the Backstreet Boys.
I don't feel like there's a person that has that
right to say, like I get more than everybody else.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Yeah, if you're hearing four millanite and you're justin Timberlake,
I'm thinking you don't care if you aren't getting as
much or more than the other guys. You would love
that kind of No, you can see more about some
of those other big fan events that have made them
so wealthy.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
West Michigan Star dot Com with all your scoop.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
The Battle of the Sexy is trying to send you
over to our Frederick Meyer Gardens and Sculpture Park.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Yeah, the whole family has something to do at that
incredible place. Today's battle question one hundred women surveyed. Name
a non living thing that often wears.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Clothes a non living thing that off doors clothes. The
first thing that jumped to my head was a scarecrow.

Speaker 6 (18:45):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
I was going to say the porch goose.

Speaker 7 (18:47):
Ah.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
I have a neighbor that I mean every season, every holiday,
she is on top of it.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
And that goose is fashionable.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
What is it wearing right now? It's sort of like
in between. I mean, it's not Labor Day. Is it
in white?

Speaker 7 (19:00):
Is it?

Speaker 5 (19:00):
What?

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Yeah? Yup, yup. It's got a hole.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
It's got a whole ensemble with a red, white and
blue hats nice. Yeah, that comes down a little over
its beak. Six one, six, four, five, eight, one oh
five seven. One hundred women survey name a non living
thing that often wears clothes?

Speaker 3 (19:15):
Caller seven.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
You come up with that number one answer, You've got
general admission tickets to our Frederick Meyer Gardens and Sculpture Park.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
Good morning star. Who's this biger for? Kelfee Kelsey. Let's
see if we can get you these tickets from Frederick
Meyer Gardens. You gotta tell me. One hundred women were
asked to name a non living thing that is often
wearing clothes. What do you think? The top answer is there.

Speaker 6 (19:37):
I think it's a mannequin.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
You think it's a mannequin, I said, scarecrow. And I
don't know how I didn't think of a mannequin first,
and then I guess other than that, I was thinking
of like dolls, you know, playing dress up with your
barbies or you know whatever, American girl dolls or all
that stuff. But you know what, your head went right
to the correct place. Mannikins the tops Kealasey from gods Awesome,
Thank you, You're gonna win tickets to go check out

(20:01):
the Frederick Meyer Gardens and Sculpture part coome on it
to you, it's Mack and Smitty, And you know, when
you're doom scrolling, occasionally you find gold. You find something
on social media that would either solve a problem for
you or is given some great inspiration.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
This is how Chris did all of our boat work. Yeah,
you found everything on YouTube.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
It doesn't shock me. YouTube, you know, for DIY stuff,
that's where it's at. But occasionally you'll see somebody solving
a problem that's a really common problem, just in a
different way. For example, my wife just got rid of
a bee's nest schmitty that was plaguing us. It was
actually between our siding and a brick wall of our garage,

(20:41):
and we saw the bees going up. It's right next
to our trash cans. So we saw this. We're like,
oh crap, they must have filt a nest up there. Well,
it must have been a pretty decent nest. But we
went up there with like bee spray, and we just
couldn't access the nest enough forget closes enough for us
to solve the problem. It just kept not coming back.
I come home from work and my wife has this

(21:02):
contraption set up with two upside down flower pots. She's
got twist ties and it's got our shot back out.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
She put down soap and water in the bottom of
our shop back, and then proceeded to take a stand
basically made of these two flower pots and stick the
nozzle of the shot back right next to the hole
where the bees go in and out. And we sat
there just banging on it and watching bee after bee
just flood inside of this thing.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
So the shotback was on and you were just like
sucking them out.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
Sucking the bees out. Well, they get mad, they come
out on their own, and as soon as they come
out close enough to the suction, they just go right
in and then they go into the don soap, and
as soon as the don soap gets on their little wings,
they're done. They can't do anything, they can't fly anymore.
It's over with.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
Where'd you learn it?

Speaker 1 (21:48):
She learned it on Instagram? This is doom scrolling Instagram
And saw somebody else doing this with the video and
theirs was up high, so they were using their thing
to do it from up above. We just had this
set up. We literally made the bees really angry and
walked away, came out there like two hours later and
there's hundreds of bees in our shop back. Gosh, wow,

(22:09):
it was unbelievable just because she was scrolling Instagram. We
got this done well. I like it.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
You put this on Facebook and shout out to Sadie.
She's got all of her pumpkin carvings from you too.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
I tho some really good designs.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
I saw Amber Rose moisten a towel for reheating in
the microwave. Is that yeah, thing like like pizza crust
and stuff like that moist or something so good? Is
that another thing that I have to steal off of there?
Or air fry or air fright. Yeah, the air fyer
is just as the girl on.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
The show that doesn't cook anything actually legitimately feeling good
at that star.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
What's going on? Swimming?

Speaker 3 (22:41):
I was so excited to see this.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
I have been watching the more than month's long journey
for the Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial Swim. I told you about this,
like I said, over a month ago. Jim Dryer aka
the Shark setting this up as a memorial to those
sailors lost aboard the legendary freighter in Lake Superior. Well,

(23:03):
yesterday afternoon After thirty three days, four hundred and eleven
miles and almost seventy swimmers participating, they touched down at
the finish line at the Detroit Yacht Club. It was
pretty incredible. Four boats also a part of this journey.
The swim certainly had challenges, including storms. Remember all those

(23:27):
poor air quality days. Yeah, didn't stop their swim. They
made it and it was everything they hoped for. Jim
during a live stream yesterday, good.

Speaker 7 (23:37):
Afternoon, Fittheads and fans of the Edmund Fitzgerald Memorials swim everywhere.
Today is victory day. It will be the culmination of
four hundred and eleven miles to finish the final journey
of the Edin Fitzgerald.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
We are all excited.

Speaker 7 (23:50):
It's kind of actually a little bit, you know, we've
got mixed feelings because we've had such a great time.
It's been such a great adventure. We don't really want
it to end. But man have done this then, so
it's monumental task and we're.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Thrilled with that.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
I mean, it was truly monumental. And now today is
the very special moment. A memorial service scheduled at the
Mariner's Church of Detroit.

Speaker 3 (24:15):
During that ceremony.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
The church's bell will actually ring thirty times for each
of the twenty nine mariners who were aboard the Edmund Fitzgerald,
and then once for all who have died in the
Great Lakes. And remember all of that money raised is
going towards the museum up in the up.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
Very cool.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
The shark is an interesting dude. What I like about
this one is, you know, he's attempted to swim like
Michigan a couple of times now, sort of an individual achievement.
I love how we brought so many other people into this.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
One well, and he talks about that. I'll put the
entire live stream up. He said.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
The community that was built around this memorial swim is
probably one of the most unforgettable moments of his entire
time in a swimming career.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Very cool, all right, Smindy. For a big eightieth birthday,
Vietnam veteran Robert Carson from right here in Michigan over
in Lincoln Park got quite the outpoint of love and
support in a gigantic welcome home from his fellow veterans
for his birthday because his ex wife and kerg give her.
Paul let put out the call on social media to
send Robert some birthday cards, right, and she was hoping

(25:16):
that she would get about eighty of them. Well, it
got a little bigger than that, As she explained to
WXYZ over on the East Side. I expected eighty cards.

Speaker 6 (25:23):
That's what I expected.

Speaker 4 (25:25):
Oh man, we are a ton of them.

Speaker 7 (25:27):
Welcome home, Thank you for your service, Happy birthday.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
We don't know each other, but we know that we
will always have a kinship that others will never comprehend.

Speaker 6 (25:36):
Taylor dearborn Ferndale.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
Yeah, all over the state of Michigan. These cards rolled in,
but from as far away as Florida, cards from all
over the country, many of those from fellow veterans and
families of those who had served, thanking him for his service.
One of the special parts, though, included some honors from
Mayor Maureen Tobin there of Lincoln Park, who proclaimed that
August twenty fifth, twenty twenty five would be known as

(26:01):
Robert Carson.

Speaker 4 (26:02):
Day, honoring him in his service and what he's done
for this country means a lot to me. And I'm
just very happy being able to come out and do this.

Speaker 7 (26:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
He also got a drive by by the Lincoln Park
Police Department there's gifts and lights in every day. The
mailman has been bringing more and more letters of gratitude
and happy birthday wishes for one of our veterans.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Very cool, thank you for your service.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
That's right. Feeling good coming at you a couple times
a day. I always want to point out the positive.
It's all around you when you're looking for it. We'll
do it for you tomorrow, six forty five and nine
twenty here on Star Mack and Schmidty in the morning
weekday starting at six am on Star one oh five
