Speaker 1 (00:00):
Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Wa wake up. It gets my day going and makes
me laugh.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (00:10):
Mac and Schmidty in the morning on Star one oh
five point seven.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Well, good morning, Schmitty, Hey, good morning.
Speaker 5 (00:16):
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little
tired of this groundhog's day. So another really really bad
commute in this morning, wasn't your roads not well? North
and south of Grand Rapids is pretty rough. We've had
coworkers coming in from Byron Center up and Rockford down.
Take your time, you guys. Visibility was even a little
(00:37):
little sketch before you hit the city.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Man, it might not even be quite done just yet,
as we'll see patches of snow here and there over
the next several hours as well today Schmitty, And the
good news, it's already warmer today than it's been in
like three four days, easily twenty six out their mid
twenties around West Michigan right now. Highs today near freezing
right into those load of mid thirties. That's not so terrible, Schmitty.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
I mean, yeah, it's just it's rough out there.
Speaker 5 (01:02):
I realize you're trying to be positive, but heads up,
it's definitely going to be an interesting one, so you
might want to give yourself a little bit of extra time.
That's all I'm saying. I walked outside and I had
one of those.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Oh man, I didn't know we were supposed to get
more of this.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Yeah, it definitely kind of snuck in to see a
couple of extra inches on the ground as we go through,
and we might see more of that over the next
few days as well. Our friends from Storm Too Maine,
they've got the latest for you coming up for this
weekend where I just feel like everything is lions, lions,
lions and more lions right now, SCHMIDI and I'm definitely
here for it.
Speaker 5 (01:38):
Have we started our countdown yet to that big Saturday
night game?
Speaker 1 (01:43):
I think we've been counting down as a franchise since
we u I don't know, the NFL merger in the
nineteen seventy something like that. We are ready.
Speaker 6 (01:50):
I feel like movies, music, and all the gossip in
one place.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (01:59):
Well, maybe he saw a bit of that backlash from
fans wondering why he was hop in his private jet
to get out of la during wildfires for being the
big environmentalist that he is. Leonardo DiCaprio is now stepping up,
pledging a million dollars to support wildfire relief efforts amid
those devastating Los Angeles wildfires. He made the announcement on
(02:22):
his social media yesterday afternoon, committing a million dollars in
partnership with Rewild's Rapid Response Program. This is a big
organization he works with. He said it will sport urgent
needs as well as post fire recovery, telling fans initial
aid will immediately benefit the LA Fire Department, California Fire Foundation,
(02:42):
World Central Kitchen, and California Community Foundation, just to name
a few. He's also helping animals. He plans to give
to the Pasadena Humane Society organizations on the front lines
as well, saying if you would like to give, he
has posted.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Other resources there too. He did turn off comments, so
I'm not sure how people feel that.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
I was gonna say, like, where was his publicist before
all the negative publicity for him? Jenson out of lost
Wai Marriott.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
All right, let's get to the big Drake lawsuit not
backing down in his war against his own music label,
and now he's really up the anie with this lawsuit
suing Universal Music Group for spreading a false and malicious narrative.
It all has to do with this song, Kendrick Lamar's
Not Like Us. Drake filed the defamation case yesterday in
(03:32):
federal court, ripping UMG for releasing and promoting Kendrick's vicious
disc track, and it all comes down to the fact
that a lot of the lyrics in this song deal
with the allegations that Drake is a pedophile. In the suit,
he calls Kendrick's hit filled with inflammatory and shocking allegations
(03:55):
and says it was a gold mine for UMG, which
is why they had an ulterior our financial motive in
promoting it. He said, the label did everything they could
to pump it up, and since Drake's last contract with
UMG was a bombshelf four hundred million dollars, he said
they had a very serious interest in promoting this so
(04:16):
that they could actually have better financial status when renegotiating
Drake's contract. Yesterday afternoon, a spokesperson for Universal Music Group said,
not only are these claims untrue, but the notion that
we would seek to harm the reputation of any artist
let alone Drake is illogical. We've invested massively in his music,
and our employees around the world have worked tirelessly for
(04:39):
years to help him achieve historic commercial and personal financial success.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
I think the part about this that things the most
is that it's it's over, like Drake isn't going to
be able to come up with some distract that is
as good or as big or blows up like this.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
And also, Kendrick is not a part of this lawsuit, Zuzan.
He does not specific said this has nothing to do
with Kendrick. That has everything to do with what Universal
Music Group has done with this, So it'll be interesting
to watch this play out. Finally, after Timothy Shallimet opted
for a sensible and eco friendly mode of transportation for
(05:16):
his latest Red Carpet, that unfortunately led to a ticket.
So he showed up to the London premiere of a
complete unknown one of those lime bikes we have those
in Grand Rapids, the really bright lime green bikes, and
he parked it wrong, so he was slapped with a
seventy nine dollars fine, explaining on a French talk show
(05:36):
it's ecological and it was horrible, because honestly it was
a great advertisement for them.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
No good deed goes unpunished.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
It was a great advertisement for them.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
I parked it wrong.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
It's outside of the little square, Rene Ms. That's a
brutal ticket.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
All right, all your celeb scoop at West Michigan Star
dot com.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Sometime does that get a good feel? All right, let's
put some positivity into this morning right now with feeling good.
And you know what, this one comes with a soundtrack
as a matter of fact, because I got a shout
out something that one of our radio brethren, Dus Schmidty
that we're all fans of tiny desk concerts with NPR.
So cool artist like Taylor Swift, sting Adele Bruto mar
(06:20):
so many huge artists have done this and it was
just overtaken. Just yesterday a video was posted of the
Group from the Top, who for twenty five years has
been sharing the music of young people, incredible prodigies and
talents that just showcases all of their amazing works that
they do around the country. And three teenagers part of
this one you can hear in the background that you
(06:42):
hear right now is a beautiful cello from a thirteen
year old right here from Byron Center, Michigan. Cameron Renshaw
from Byron Center. He actually was on Ellen all the
way back when he was just a nine year old.
Now he's thirteen, playing tiny desk concerts on NPR. Back
when on Ellen Ellen, he just said, I really forour
(07:04):
my heart out whenever I play, and you can totally
hear that as he works his way through a piece
of music for the nineteenth century right now, but just
gorgeous and on piano. He's actually joined by Ruyan Green,
who's an eighteen year old from Philadelphia, and a violinist
comes up later who's only twelve years old. But I
definitely we'll get this video up for you at West
(07:25):
Michigan Star dot com. But amazing to see somebody from
right here in West Michigan racing that same performance studio.
Speaker 5 (07:31):
Yeah, I went up with yesterday afternoon. Yeah, thirty seven
thousand views, unbelieved. It's really great, all right, So the
Detroit Red Wings are dominating as well. It's not just
our lions doing great things over on the East Side.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Maybe it's because of how they.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
Get hyped before every game the family walk out. This
video just posted by the Wings on their Instagram is
one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. This is
Alex to Brinkad and Patrick Kane walking out to their soup.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Excited boys.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
Check out how cool it must be to see dad
before he heads to work.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Archie getting sticks.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Nick. It's so sweet. That's Archie and little Patrick and
you can hear them go, Archie, that's your dad. Your
dad's coming out.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
But I thought the other really sweet part of this video,
and it's only a snippet I have right here, all
of the other players that have obviously learned about and
grown close with fellow teammates' kids walking out, smacking sticks,
this pumping with their gloves.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
It's so sweet.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
It's on her Instagram stories right now at West Michigan Star.
I don't know if every team walks out like that,
but I'll tell you those are some good luck charms
for those wings.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Hey, it's been doing some good work for them as
they have won I think seven out of their last
eight as of right now. Really well, all right, feeling
good comes at you a couple times a day. I
always here to lift you up with some positivity. We'll
do it again. Kevin up this morning at nine to one.
Speaker 6 (09:07):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
Place, it's the celebritiescoop. On Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
Well, comedian Bill Burr is clearly heated up about all
of the self proclaimed wildfire experts spewing their knowledge shaw
the internet. The comedian used some colorful language while on
Jimmy Kim Alive the other night, talking about having to
evacuate his home in LA but feeling very lucky for
(09:35):
all of the brave firefighters that are out there doing
a great job.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Unlike fans online, all of.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
These fire experts, why didn't you just fly a helicopter
into the ocean?
Speaker 2 (09:46):
And I don't know, because it was one hundred not wins.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
You want to do that?
Speaker 2 (09:51):
You want to do that at night?
Speaker 3 (09:53):
You lunatic?
Speaker 2 (09:56):
This was definitely mismanaged.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
That's a big word, mismanaged, like some idiot on the
internet knows how to.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Manage the worst fire in LA sitting there in his underwear.
Speaker 5 (10:09):
He also talked about how fans have been reaching out
to him because he owns a helicopter and they were like, well,
why don't you just fly out of there? And he said,
I didn't realize how expensive helicopters were, so all I
have is a two seater, and I didn't want to
have to make Sophie's choice with my family, so we
all piled into the suv like everybody else.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
The Sophie's choice reference was pretty on point.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
Very some levity to this situation, for sure. Brad Pitt's
rep is now speaking out after this insane story. Did
you see this frenchwoman who was cammed out of almost
eight hundred thousand dollars by someone pretending to be Brad
Pitt online?
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Is this the same woman or has this happened now
multiple times? Because we did a story I want to
say almost a year ago. Maybe even know this is.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
A brand new woman.
Speaker 5 (10:58):
This happened like last week, so she was talking this
French unbelievable, she I mean sent money. Apparently, she said
that he needed a kidney. She divorced her husband thinking
they were gonna meet up, and it wasn't until she
finally googled pictures of him and realized he had a girlfriend.
(11:20):
Brad's representative addressing the situation it was so insane, saying,
it's awful that scammers take advantage of fans' strong connection
with celebrities, but this is an important reminder to not
respond to unsolicited online outreach, especially from actors who have
no social media presence.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
Brad has no social media.
Speaker 5 (11:44):
He's not on Instagram, he's not on Facebook, he's not
on TikTok.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
So I guess Anne, which is all she would allow
people to know about her.
Speaker 5 (11:53):
Is a lesson in really double checking if someone from
Hollywood is actually messaging.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
My favorite part is like I figured it out. Why
I learned he had a girl?
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Yes, is really unfortunate. Eight hundred grand?
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Do you know he used to be married to Jennifer Aniston?
Speaker 2 (12:06):
I had no idea.
Speaker 5 (12:08):
Finally, Dave Grohl, front headliner for of course the Foo Fighters,
spending his birthday putting others first, whipping up some hardy
bowls of chili for people affected by the LA wildfires
as well as brave firefighters battling the blazes. He volunteers
with Feed the Streets. He's been working with this organization
for years. TMZ caught up with him asking why it
(12:31):
was chili this time, and he announced the issue and
also listened to the end here where we may have
a sneak peek at one of those artists performing in
the big fire aid concert that's planned. We usually make
barbecue for them, but because of all the red clad
warnings and stuff, we couldn't do that.
Speaker 6 (12:51):
Can I ask?
Speaker 5 (12:52):
Are you guys gonna be playing the fire Relief Aid
concert at the into It?
Speaker 7 (12:55):
Well?
Speaker 5 (12:56):
I know, so we might be seeing the food fighters. Awesome,
you missed story yesterday. There's a huge concert that's going
to be giving to Big Foundations. It's gotten so huge
it's going to be in two different arenas in LA.
You can check that with your scoop at West Michigan
start off on Yester Morning too.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
It's Mack and Schmitty and the things that don't feel
good that moment that you realize you have accidentally button
dialed somebody, even worse when it's someone that you never
intended to talk to in the first.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Like that you work with.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
I gotta tell you, I've like never butt dialed in
my life. It's just not a thing that I've ever
had happened until last week. And I'm still not sure
I'm blaming the iPhone because if you guys have listened
to the show long enough, I've been an Android user
my entire life. This is my first time with an
iPhone and I don't love it, and I think this
is just another thing to check in the con box.
(13:47):
I was on a call with one of our sales
reps and hung up. Everything's good, And then what do
I do? It's one o'clock. I roll over to take
my nap. Somehow I don't Oh no, I rolled over
and called that person back without realizing it at some
point in my nap. So thank goodness it was our
(14:10):
Rep Carmen, who I adore, and all she hears on
the other end is me snoring and slobbering into the
speaker part of my phone. And I finally jolt awake
to somebody like yelling down the line like.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Hello, schmitty, are you all right? Are you having a
medical emergency? And I was like, how did that even happen?
Speaker 1 (14:32):
Man? I can one up you. I I FaceTime butt
dialed our boss Tim Fagan at eleven at night on
a Friday night.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Ooh, did he hear anything to you?
Speaker 1 (14:45):
See?
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Okay. So you know when a FaceTime goes and it
does the different ring the tu yeah tuttu, So that
to me is almost like the sound of your dog
starting to vomit. I'm like, where, what what? Yeah about
I'm freaking out looking for my phone, and I kid
you not, I pick it up right as I see
the whoop where it goes to the person's face, and
I cancel that so hard. He doesn't call me back,
(15:09):
he doesn't text me. I just see him Monday morning.
He goes everything good. Friday night, I'm like, yep, everything
was fine. I'm sorry, but.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Crut it up. Then you don't bring it up. I
gotta tell you.
Speaker 5 (15:22):
We've got our talk back button on our iHeartRadio app.
And it's not so much this station but my one
of my other stations.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
I work for Wood Radio.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
I can't tell you how many times we will open
up a message and it's somebody going to get their mail.
There's a lovely couple that does it all the time
on accident, and we've heard their plans for the day.
We've heard about a family party because they're butt dialed
and have no idea. They're recording a voice memo and
sending it to the studio.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
That's awesome. Those are ones I'd want to play even more.
But Schmitty, I have to ask you this because we've
all been on the other side of it too, where
somebody were certain who's button diled us. How long do
you listen forever? I will not hang off that phone.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
And I will mute side of it so I don't
give myself.
Speaker 5 (16:02):
Away, Like what little nugget of tea am I about
to learn?
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Have you had a super embarrassing butt dial six one six.
Speaker 5 (16:11):
Four five eight one oh five seven, or if you
feel like butt dialing us on that iHeart radio app.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
That red mic is real easy to click doing it?
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Have you ever done it while you're driving? Accidentally butt
nile someone while you're driving, That's a dangerous situation. Yes,
I'll look out for that.
Speaker 6 (16:26):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 4 (16:29):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (16:33):
Well, I've been talking a lot about Heidi Montag and
Spencer Pratt. Of course, a few were fans of the Hills.
You know exactly what I'm talking about. They've lost everything
and they have Pacific Palisades fire and have admitted to
fans they are completely broke. Everything they've made over all
these years went into that home and they're trying to
figure out ways to rebuild their life. That includes pitching
(16:55):
a reality show to Hulu. Yesterday they joined Good Morning America,
breaking down in tears when Heidi realized the hardest part
is what do you save? Spencer was like, grab anything
you want to keep, and I was like, how do
you choose? You know, play My brain actually stopped working
because I was so overwhelmed.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
She said.
Speaker 5 (17:17):
One of the first things she ended up grabbing were
her kids Teddy Bears, and that was all that really survived.
They've been posting on social They've garnered tons more Instagram
and TikTok followers, and as I pointed out yesterday, Heidi's
song from two thousand and ten is now back atop
the charts. And this is fun leyton Mester, who also
(17:40):
had a brief music career in the two thousands, is
also back on the charts as fans are trying to
spike those streaming numbers and turn Adam Brody also lost
everything in those fires.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
I mean, I have empathy for all of these people,
but at the same time, I just think it's kind
of gross to monetize things for yourself in a situation
like this. I mean, we say look for the helpers,
I feel like, look at these grifters. Is where I
feel like Heidi and Spencer are at so.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
Jason Derulo has admitted that the darkest time of his
entire life was back in twenty thirteen and actually came
before one of his most successful albums. The singer sat
down on The Great Company podcast talking about a fall
that happened during rehearsal and he almost thought his life
was done.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
But I was preparing for my tour man working on
these backtocks. I slipped on one build, fell on my
head and I heard a crack. I was just thinking
in my head, like my life just hiding. But is
like hell on earth?
Speaker 2 (18:38):
He said.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
It was horrible. He suffered what he calls a hangman's break.
You remember back then he had to cancel his tour.
He wasn't sure if his record label was going to
deal with the amount of rehabilitation. It was going to
take time out of his job. But he said spending
nine to twelve hours in the studio every single day
after rehabilitation is what led to Talk Dirty, which became
(19:02):
his most successful album ever. And he said, this is
a point where you're faced with that life threatening ordeal
and it just is up to you on how you
handle it.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Did not know is that serious? Such a fun artist.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
I'd be paralyzed.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Finally, Travis Kelsey opening up about his ongoing romance with
Taylor Swift, joining Stephen A. Smith on his podcast, talking
about what an incredible place he's in and how much
that helps his career.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
Well, I think personally, you know, that's the beauty of
being in a very strong relationship, is that you get
that support to be able to come in and focus
on your craft, focus on being the best version of you.
You know, that's why I wanted to be at the concert,
supporting her and being there for her, making sure she
feels comfortable and supported and everything she's doing in life.
And you know, I think I'm as focused as I've
(19:50):
ever been on my job and being the best player
that I could possibly be a weekend, week out for
this team. And you know it's because I'm I don't
have to worry about things off the shield.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
I think it's very sweet Kansas City, of course, welcoming
Houston Saturday night. You can see more of Travis's interview
with your Scoop at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
It's seven on five points seven, Come on into you,
It's back and SCHMIDDI here on Star and we are
ready to battle. Battle of the Sex is looking to
get you to the PBR Pendleton Whiskey Velocity Tour schmitting.
Speaker 5 (20:20):
Yeah, the Rodeo coming event Indel January twenty fourth and
twenty fifth. You have today's number one answer, and we're
gonna hook your family up with tickets. One hundred men
surveyed what hotel feature do kids get excited about?
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Ooh, you know what, because it's not even in the
top of the list of four answers. What kid isn't
always asking very physic is there pool? Is there pool?
Speaker 6 (20:42):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (20:42):
My god?
Speaker 2 (20:42):
My kids don't even ask. They run inside and sniff.
Speaker 5 (20:45):
If they have even the whiff of chlorine, They're like, oh, this.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
Is the greatest place on Earth. Six one six four.
Speaker 5 (20:52):
Five eight one oh five seven collar seven number one answer.
One hundred men surveyed what hotel feature do kids get
excited about? And you're headed to the rodeo with starwinell
five point seven?
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Hi Star?
Speaker 3 (21:07):
Who's this?
Speaker 1 (21:09):
Uh Teresa, let's see here? One hundred adults or excuse me?
One hundred men were asked what is the hotel feature
that kids often get really excited about? And we ruled
out some of those top answers. It's not a TV,
it's not an arcade, it's not the complimentary breakfast. So
what do you think it is with the ice machine?
(21:30):
You know, that's just a place where you can go
off on an adventure when your parents are like, go
down to the end of it all and get me
some ice. But that's not on there either. I'm sorry, Teresa,
I know, and it's a tough one. You're gonna you're
gonna kick yourself when you hear the top answer. Okay, thanks,
hi star, who's this.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
Amy?
Speaker 1 (21:51):
I've gotten great guesses, but still don't on the top answer.
When one hundred guys were asked what hotel feature the
kids often get really excited for? And so far I
heard the TV I heard in in hotel arcades. I've
also heard the complimentary breakfast, and I even just heard
the ice machine. None of those were the top answer, though,
(22:14):
So I'm just gonna say, if you've got multiple kids,
this is definitely something they have argued over which one
of them gets to do this at hotels? What do
you think that top answer is?
Speaker 6 (22:28):
Oh, the elevator, the elevator.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
I can't tell you how many fights my children have
gotten into over who gets to push number one, number two,
number three in most hotels to go all the way up.
And then anytime that we're in like a tall rise hotel.
I mean, that's like the greatest gift you can get.
We have to divvy it up. Basically, elevators the top
answer where to go. Hey, yeah, it was actually elevator,
(22:54):
followed by room service, then big bed, and then we
had the gym, which I've never heard a kid say
a word about, and then the pool, which made no
sense to me. But that's the list today. Congratulations, oh,
thank you so much, and saying yeah, you're gonna go
to the PBR Rodeo in Sound Little later this month.
We'll do tickets again tomorrow eight fifteen. Here on Star seven.
(23:19):
A fine point. See, I have a good morning to you.
It's Mack and Schmidty. And you know, we all try
not to do it, but maybe it's caught you up
in life at one time or another where you said
something behind somebody's back, so to speak, and it came
back to just bite you in the pot big time.
It's a terrible feeling when that happens. I almost had
a very dangerous situation happened at my daughter's band concert
(23:42):
just the other night. And I was sitting there next
to some of our friends and they were just asking,
you know, the regular questions, Hi, guess dying, I was Christmas,
New Year's all that stuff. And I asked if any
of their kids for playing sports this year, and they said, oh,
you know, so and so is playing soccer. Somebody else
is thinking about taking karate. What about your kids. You're
coaching basketball, right, and I am. I'm coaching my son's
(24:02):
fourth grade YMCA basketball team. And I had only had
one practice at this point. My second one was just
last night. But he goes, how's it going? How are
those kids? Nine and ten year old boys? That's gotta
be rough. And I was like, I gotta be honest
with you. I think these kids are great. The air,
they were so nice and respectful, they were listening, they
(24:23):
were playing hard with lots of effort. I mean, I
honestly could not have been more impressed with these kids, man.
And he's like, so not quite like your football team.
And I'm like, look, I loved my football team, but
you know I did have kids like getting go to
fisticuffs during games and crazy stuff like that I'm like
these kids, it was like, oh, pleases and thank you,
and everybody was getting along. I'm like, I honestly couldn't
(24:43):
believe it. And all of a sudden, this woman turns
around and goes, do you know how refreshing it is
to hear one of your kids coaches talk that way
about them. And I look and one of the kids
from my team, dude, has the same as must an
older brother sister that's in the same grade.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
You've got to be so careful talking about kids.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
I never I don't do anything but praise kids because
you never know what parents are around. And it is
so nice because can you imagine if it'd been the
other way around, I like, there would have been emails,
and I can probably tell you wouldn't have been coaching anymore.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
Dude, I'm a sarcastic jerk sometimes. Just yeah, I'm.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Talking careful with kids. It's such a good lesson, said I.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
Go and and Alitia Immediately my stomach falls out of
my butch middie and I'm like, oh, Silas, what's up, buddy.
I'm like, He's like, yeah, thanks, coach, a great time,
And their dad is there and a couple of their
other kids, and I go, that could have been so bad.
Just start cracking. Yeah, could have gone worse, could have
gotten worse for sure. A little while later, I lean
(25:45):
forward and I was like, if you wouldn't mind sharing
this experience with the other parents, that'd be great, because
starting a five point seven, Mack and Schmide always here
to make your day a little bit better. Feeling good?
Right now? What's happening?
Speaker 5 (26:03):
Well, I'm sure we're going to see a lot more
of the Detroit Lions fan base doing everything they can
to get their hands on tickets for this unbelievable run,
and that includes Bryson. He is dad to eight year
old Kinsley, who absolutely loves a monro Saint Brown, but
it's probably because of dad. The thirty four year old
(26:25):
may live in Appleton, Wisconsin now, but most of his
childhood was spent in Canton Over on the East Side,
and that started his Lions fandom, something he has passed
down to his kids. And he loved former Lions quarterback
Matthew Stafford so much that he actually snagged a signed
jersey more than ten years ago, but now he's given
(26:47):
it all up in order to take his daughter to
her first ever Lions game. Bryson decided to sell his
Stafford jersey, but that was only the start because it
was not nearly enough for those almost one thousand dollars
tickets for Saturday Night. He also sold his Wisconsin Badger's
gear signed by legends.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Ron Daine and Russell Wilson.
Speaker 5 (27:09):
And sold some really top of the line nice bottles
of bourbon to finally get the cash needed, and that's
when he was able to write this letter to Kinsley.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Kinsley Rose name is Big Jap.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
Games Am all of Detroit line play next week.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
What do you think.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
That's right?
Speaker 5 (27:43):
She jumped into Dad's arms an absolute surprise and shock
look on her face. Kinsley and Dad will be their
Saturday night as the Lions take on the Commanders at
Ford Field.
Speaker 1 (27:56):
The girl is her first.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
Ever Lions game, and it's that one. That's pretty sweet, Kinsley.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
Plus, all you had to get rid of was her
old quarterback stuff in some Wisconsin gear. The whiskey I
feel bad about though, for sure. All right, Tomeddie, a
West Michigan woman gonna be on Shark Tank tomorrow night.
This is cool. Christina Smith from marn She's an avid
runner and She thought about her idea for her business
after she was in a running race in California back
in twenty nineteen and she was just kind of blown
away by how many single use cups were used just
(28:28):
in this one race. Just doing some quick math, it
was nine thousand runners with seventeen water stations each, so
they needed over one hundred and fifty thousand cups for
one race, which is insane, right, So she decided to
use a reusable cup business that she is named Hiccup. Now,
(28:48):
the events in run thousands of silicone cups to the
runners and drinks in the eight stations. They're returned, they're washed,
and then they're rented again. Check this out. She's got
an inventory of seventy thousand cups cater more than one
hundred and twenty events at this point across the country,
and the company can't keep up with the demand, hence
her need to go on Shark Tank. And when she
(29:09):
found out it was actually gonna happen, as she told
thirteen on your Side, she just couldn't believe it.
Speaker 7 (29:13):
That was a very crazy moment. I was like, no,
this isn't real, this isn't real. And then it was
real and it was a very cool experience. One of
my idols is Mark Cuban, so I was really excited.
I wanted to hear what his thoughts were on my business.
I'm learning all of this as I go, and if
I can learn as much as I can, you know,
with or without a deal, I would be like I
(29:33):
wanted to hear what they had to say.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Come on, cubes, make the deal. We'll find out tomorrow
Night's Shark Tank. It to be on at eight pm
on ABC or thirteen on your Side. So good luck, Christina.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Wow, very cool.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
I like that feeling good coming at you a couple
times a day. We'll do it again tomorrow six forty
five and nine twenty right here on Star
Speaker 4 (29:50):
Mack and Schmidty in the morning weekday starting at six
am on Star one oh five point seven
