Speaker 1 (00:02):
Wake up. It gets my day going.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
It makes me laugh.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
I love it. Mac and Schmitty in the morning on
Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
Good morning, Schreddy, Oh, good morning, and welcome into Groundhog's Day.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Once again. Roads are terrible. Everybody pretty much off school.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
I am getting a little little uugh, a little irritated.
I gotta be honest once again, followed a rusted out
minivan going ninety this morning. Y'all, the roads are still
pretty terrible, so back it off a little bit.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
I don't know. I think you know, with that rust
and everything else, they're telling you right up to your face.
I don't care about this car.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
I know the shocking amount of people that don't care
about their lives. Yes, the big deal. Today is the coldest.
I feel like we've said it every day this week.
This is the coldest.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Though.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
I was thrilled that I was getting even close to
zero on my way, and today it was negative four
for my drive. That feels like negative four on my
car desk.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
That's cute. Mine got to negative eight at one point
while I was driving in there, negative five. I think
when I got downtown here I.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Can beat you.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
We got a listener Macosta woke up to negative fourteen. Oo,
so you guys, it's gonna be Chille.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Do you want to feels like right now? Thank you?
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Negative twenty five?
Speaker 1 (01:22):
I think I'm negative eighteen, right, yeah, I got negative eighteen. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Matt Kirk has been watching it all across West Michigan,
and I gotta be honest, if those numbers are shocking.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Keep listening.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
It's definitely really, really cold, and most of you probably
learned about your school closures last night.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
But if you want to double check West Michigan, Star.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Dot com, movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
It's the Celebrity Scoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
All right, my little monsters, I've got an update on
Lady Gaga. Social media has been all about this very
mysterious countdown that has shown up on Gaga's website, currently
sitting at five days, four hours, thirty nine minutes and
fifteen seconds. While SARS is close to the stars say
(02:13):
the countdown is ticking away to Gaga's new album and
in five days we'll learn both the title and release date. Now,
fans have been waiting a bit for a new musical project,
but they already have been rumoring some different drop dates.
Her team says none of it is correct. She will
have all of the info when that counter officially stops.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Now here's the deal. This could be a big deal
for Gaga.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Because obviously she's had some very big ups and downs.
Last year, we got Harlequin, that musical thriller album, which
did not do very well and definitely did not live
up to expectations. But her collaboration with Bruno Mars Die
with a Smile was pretty successful and even napter a
Song of the Year nomination for this year's Grammys.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
So we'll when we're getting some of this new music.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
I love Die with a Smile. I also have no
idea how it didn't wind up on the Joker to
soundtrack or on her Harley Quinn or how do you
even say that? Yeah, Harley Quinn, Harley Quinn Turny album, Like,
I don't understand that at all.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
This will be very interesting to watch.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Chris Brown issuing producers behind Investigation Discoveries Chris Brown a
History of Violence docuseries, alleging that the project is just
a straight up live you haven't seen it yet.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
This is a piece of the trailer.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
Browse and Chris Browns an amazing and talented musician, but
let's call a thing a thing. He's an abuser of
women consistently, unapologetically.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
New court documents just filed. The singer accuses Warner Brothers, Discovery, Ample,
and other individuals behind the series of promoting and publishing
defamatory claims against him, even saying he's got proof the
narrative was false, aims that Jane Doe, at the center
of this docuseries, has been repeatedly discredited, and highlights he's
(04:06):
never been found guilty of any sex related crime, slamming
them for labeling him a serial sexual abuser. He said
that this is not alright. He is suing for millions
five hundred million dollars on this Ample and Warner Brothers
(04:27):
Discovery so far has not commented. But I think this
will be interesting to see with all of the big
celebrity docuseries that are expected to come out of the
next couple of years, how this might change things.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
You know, it's pretty wild because obviously his abuse of
Rihanna is the thing that sticks in everybody's mind, is
the you know, bigotive's catalyst in his career since then,
he's done everything he can possibly do, including getting a
you know, forgiveness from Rihanna, to try and get back
at people's graces. It's weird timing, I feel like for
this documentary really.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Well, he says, it's taken a toll on not just
his reputation, but his career and big business opportunities, which
is where you get that vague number. Finally, Travis Barker
of Blink one eight two is making sure that inmate
firefighters battling those LA wildfires know just how appreciated they
are for risking their lives during the ongoing disaster. Travis
(05:17):
paid a visit to the Rose Bowl Complex in Pasadena
the other day, where he met with members of the
Anti Recidivism Coalition. This is all entirely made up of
nonviolent security inmates who are on the front lines with
other first responders, Travis saying a lot of them came
from the juvenile system. This program gives them the ability
(05:38):
for real change and to make a difference, and to
say that humanity at all of them was truly one
of the most amazing parts. He also spent time with
members of the National Guard, who are also on the
front lines helping to secure affected neighborhoods while bringing some
moral awareness and hopefully donation to a program that Travis
says is necessary, and he continues to keep the relationship going.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Really cool to see all the support for those firefighters,
including those incarcerated firefighters that have been helping out like that.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
All of you are celeb scoop at West Michigan Star
dot com.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Sometimes because I get a good feeling, let's dive into it.
We all need a little warm up this morning. It's
feeling good on Star. Mac and Schmitty with you. And
actually I saw yesterday something that made me want to
do this story. I was actually coming out Schmidty, you
know the Costco location next to Target and Sam Slow
not Sam Sloth and Dix all right over there on
(06:33):
T Street. Yeah, yeah, I'm coming out of there, and
there's somebody who was asking for cash with the sign
you know, on that light right there as you're pulling out.
They're always there, And I just kept thinking, man, how
can you be out there in these freezing cold temperatures
like this? That's got to be so rough, you know,
to see people just drive by and not say anything.
(06:54):
Then I saw this story last night and I just
wanted to share it this morning. It's gone viral on
Facebook from Heather and Love there and it said I
just witnessed the most beautiful thing out here in the
Ruby Tuesday's parking lot and Brewer, Maine that restored my
hope in humanity. Just to Tad, there's a person panhandling
in the meeting of the entrance to Walmart and a
Brewer police officer pulls up in their cruiser, gets out
and starts walking towards him. Now, I'm fully expecting this
(07:16):
very squared away duty patrolman to tell this guy he
can't be here and to leave the area, But to
my very pleasant surprise, he stops traffic so that he
can join the man while he asks passerby for their change.
From my car, I heard the officer introduce himself in
a very kind manner and then ask the man if
he needed any help connecting to any resources that may
be available in the community for those that are in need,
(07:39):
such as himself. I was shocked, but extremely pleased to
know that our cops are actually out here protecting and
serving everyone in our community. After a short talk of
the media and they parted ways, but I just got
to hand it to that officer for proving my pessimistic
mind wrong today and wanted to personally say thank you.
Way to go. And it's just an example of a
small thing making a big day reference to somebody, and
(08:00):
how acts of kindness spread to people even when you
don't see it out there.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Please smile.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
And right now, when we've got people who are suffering
in these extreme cold temperatures, if you can help somebody,
help somebody, even if it's in a small way, might
make a big difference, all right.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
So we just talked about this in your West Michigan.
Wake up an unprecedented winter storm down south for at
least some people taking full advantage of having a good time.
While snow is super rare in the New Orleans area,
so is a video going viral of a priest and
nuns having a snowball fight. The Reverend Timothy Hendrick is
pastor at Saint Catherine of Siena Church, taking on the
(08:38):
three sisters in.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
An epic battle of the snowball.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
So I hate old on.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
What definitely a rare thing to see.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
And while father did his best, he was out numbered
and eventually sent running towards the Church Recover. It's a
great watch. Got the video at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
You went to Catholic schools a kid. You ever want
a belt at none with the snowballs many Oh, I.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Would not dare we had, Sister Floriene.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
I don't know. Fairly good comes at you a couple
times a day. I always here to lift your spirits.
We'll do it again this morning at nine's watch.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Holl right, we're back at the It Ends with Us drama.
Justin Baldoni, the director and co star on the movie,
staying on the offensive, attempting to shoot down Blake Lively's
allegation he sexually harassed her by releasing raw video from
It Ends with Us that has some very telling conversation
between the co stars.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
So here's just a piece of it.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Staring he just stared earlier for We've done it for
like five minutes. It's like, I think you would find
it terrified. He's literally socials have time stops. Yeah, but
likes That's just how it's been for us.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
From the beginning. So Baldoni's team dropped almost ten minutes
of unedited footage, including a scene where Justin and Blake
are slow dancing. It was the start of what you
just heard. Blake referenced this specific scene in her lawsuit
against Justin, accusing him of getting very creepy with comments
to her and the video, both actors are miked up,
(10:30):
but Justin is not heard making any offensive comments or
actions towards Blake. His team says this completely refutes refutes
her claims. What is interesting, you do notice the massive
creative differences that have been talked about. Justin and Blake
are talking to each other throughout this scene, going back
and forth on camera angles, lighting whether they should be
(10:50):
speaking to each other or just staring into each other's eyes.
In the final edit, only the video was used for
slow mo footage. None of the AWE was used. There's
also a reference to Justin's nose in his lawsuit. He
mentions Blake mocking the side of his nose and saying
he's got a nose job. Well, it does play out
(11:11):
in the video as the lean in for a kiss.
Blake says, I feel so nosy. I mean, it's just
like noses, and Justin laughingly responds, I know my nose
is so big, and then in the conversation, Blake says
they should shut down production for a month so he
can get a nose job, then saying just kidding.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
The end of the.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Video interesting because I feel like if those words were
uttered the other way around, like if he said that
to her, it would be a much bigger deal than
it is.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
So Blake's team has responded, I will have that for
you next hour in scoop. The Detroit Lions have sent
an email to season ticket holders featuring a letter from
principal owner Sheila hamp. The letter went out yesterday recognizing
the upsetting playoff loss to Washington, while also describing how
proud Sheila is of the pl coaches, personnel department, and
(12:02):
the entire.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Staff for a record breaking season.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
My favorite part, Sheila rates, I know this weekend was
difficult and the next few weeks will be hard to
watch as other teams walk the path we envision, but
please know that we have never been more motivated. I
know the future will look different, and the team that
brought us so much success this year will never be
together again.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Pieces will change, but.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
We're confident in where we're going and more aligned than
ever as to how we get there. Very similar sentiment
from coach Dan Campbell in his season ending press conference yesterday.
Speaker 6 (12:36):
Does it hurt to lose those guys? Absolutely, They're a
part of what we've been here. I mean they've been
here for four years. They're one of the major reasons
why we've been able to get to where we've been.
So men, I will forever be grateful for those guys
and our team will And is it a loss, Absolutely
be a loss. But yet, man, we move forward. This
trend rolls on and I'll find the next best guys
(12:57):
for us.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
Commenting on Benji and of course going to the Bears
and the big rumor that Aaron Glenn will be.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Headed to the Jets, Yeah, I saw he was going
back for another interview and the Jets goal was to
not allow him to leave the building, is what they wrote.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
Finally, you may have noticed a change on your social media.
Celebrities and fans alike are noticing. Facebook and Instagram has
automatically followed the accounts of President Donald Trump and Vice
President JD. Vance after the president was inaugurated on Monday,
but at least according to Meta spokesman Andy Stone, it's
(13:33):
nothing sketchy. He says that the House accounts are managed
by the White House, so this would be potus White
House VP, and they change when the occupant of the
White House changes. After the new president is sworn in,
Facebook and Instagram accounts of the previous administration are archived
and the posts, as well as followers are preserved. These
(13:54):
followers are then transferred to the new official accounts. There
have been a lot of people talking on social yesterday
about noticing they were following people they maybe didn't want
to follow.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
No, here's what you do.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
You head to the profile page of the person, click
that ellipses, and either unfollow or block if you do
not wish to see the content.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
I'm sorry, but Facebook is not so naive to understand
that people are gonna be frustrated by this. We're living
in the most polarized time possible, and you think that, like, oh,
you're just randomly following somebody that you work before, and
it's somebody that you probably don't get along with or
have great feelings.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
A lot of celebrities posting about that yesterday.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
All of your celeb Scoop at West Michigan.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
Start off, it's not exactly feeling great out there unless
you're just a big fan of negative temperatures like what
we have today here, schmiddy. But there's always good things
when you're looking at wintertime, too, right.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
I thought i'd update people here it is currently negative
three downtown Grand Rapids feels like negative twenty three. While
on the length shore Man, grab the shorts, you're at
a nice two and it only feels like negative seventeen.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
I was trying to exude optimism as I started right there.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Well, here's the deal. Some people love it. My husband
loves this.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
He is all about winter, and honestly, this is winter winter, right.
We haven't had air like this in like six years.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
They're saying.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
Obviously, third day of school off for most, if not everyone,
This is winter like. This is how I'm sure the
boomers would say it used to be. So I wonder
what is the best part and the worst part of winter?
Because I thought I was putting my kids to bed
last night, i'd ask them because I knew it was
going to get great answers, and I put this on
(15:37):
Facebook at West Michigan Star, I asked Will, What is
the best part of winter? He said, oh, jumping on
the huge hill at school. Yeah, worst part of winter
not going to school. Will is having the hardest time
missing He was so bummed when we got our call
last night. He misses his teacher, he misses his friends.
(16:00):
But I think it's harder too because these aren't like
your typical snow days, Like your kids can't go outside right,
so we're all literally cooped inside looking at like the
same other six eyeballs we've seen for the last seventy
two hours.
Speaker 6 (16:12):
Now.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
I asked Sophia, my three and a half year old,
what's your favorite part of winter? And she said, snowman,
m hm. And what is your worst part of winter?
When I don't get hot chocolate every time?
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Yep, makes perfect sense to me.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
We're carrying the burden in different ways, and I'm just curious,
as a check in lake, how are we all doing.
I bet there's a ton of parents that are working
from home for the second or third day today, because
I'll give props to the school districts. Thank you so
much for calling off last night and giving all of
us at least a little bit of time to figure
(16:48):
out what we were going to do today. That's really really.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Helpful, you know, Schmindie. I'm I'm on Sophia's side. I
really can connect to that kid without a doubt. And
it's because my stance on what's the best part about
or one of the things I love the most. Food
tastes better on an extremely cold day. I don't care
if you are eating a hot homie meal, like.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
Any kind of food or specific if.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
You talk homie meals, I am. I'm talking yeah, like
a hot dog. I'm talking those winter meals that warm
up your insides and warm up your soul. Michelle the
other night, just on just on Monday, with the first
day of frigid, frigid cold, did a meat loaf like
we never eat meatloaf, but it was meat loaf, mashed potatoes,
green beans and that kind of stuff, a very homey
(17:31):
style meal, and it just hits so good when it's
cold out, so good. I love point seven. It's Mack
and Schmitty and you know, as parents, way might mesh
up in a lot of ways, but how about a
winter weather.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
I know I've done stories like this before. I watched
the news for my other job, I do another morning
show at the same time over on wood Radio. So
I keep up on headlines and things happening, but need
to be more careful because now my six and a
half year old, who is just this little sponge, hears
and listens to everything, and that includes the other night
(18:10):
watching the news where they're warning about these really dangerous
temperatures and they're giving signs and symptoms of things like
hypothermia and frostbite. Right, and so then yesterday Chris calls
me and he's like, hey, thought you should know. I
asked the kids if they wanted to go outside for
like five minutes just to get little layer in their lungs,
(18:30):
and Will freaked out and said, no way, my fingers.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Aren't falling off.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
So now my son thinks that if it's ever this
cold again, people just start losing appendages.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Don't teach him the game. The floor is lava. Things
could get a little too reel there.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
Moodies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
I'm not sure if I'm fully believing this.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
I had the breaking scoop yesterday that fans noticed Justin
Bieber had unfollowed his wife Hayley on Instagram. This was
especially shocking to fans because the couple had just been
seen hitting the slopes together with Kendall and Kylie Jenner
a few days ago in Aspen. While yesterday afternoon, Bieb's
(19:24):
jumped on his own Instagram to clear up the marriage
concerns and divorce rumor, saying he got hacked. Bieber, posting
to his story, wrote, someone went on my account and
unfollowed my wife. Bleep is getting suss out here. Just
a few hours later, Haley then uploaded a carousel of
(19:47):
images to her main Insta with a bunch of her
and Bieber looking very lovey dovey, simply putting a caption
of a smiling face and cheese emoji.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
So I guess it's fine, but I don't know.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
That seems you know what sus is him being so Nonchalantava,
it's getting suss out here, guys.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
When went on my account and unfollowed my.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Wife and my father in law and several other.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
Well that was last night, okay, So he's not saying
that that wasn't him. He's just saying he didn't unfollow
his wife. So we'll see all right, let's get to
the it ends with us drama, as Blake Lively is
now responding to the ten minute unedited video behind the scenes,
and it ends with us. So Justin Baldoni released this
(20:33):
unedited footage, saying it proves his point and refutes all
of the harassment claims from Blake. Well, now Blake is saying,
I'm thrilled because it proves my point that I was
visibly uncomfortable with you advancing during the scenes we shot together.
Blake's legal team saying Justin and his lawyer may hope
(20:54):
that this latest stunt will get ahead of the damaging
evidence against him, but the video itself is dan. Every
frame of the released footage corroborates to the letter what
Miss Lively described in paragraph forty eight of her complaint.
They go on to say, the video shows mister Baldoni
repeatedly leaning in towards Miss Lively, attempting to kiss her,
(21:14):
kissing her forehead, rubbing her face and mouth against her neck,
flicking her lip with his thumb, caressing her, telling her
out good she smells, and talking with her completely out
of character. As we reported, Justin's team says they believe
he has not harassed or done anything, and shows the
kind of character that Blank is and how difficult things
(21:36):
had gotten on set, which he says he also has
people that will corroborate.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Hi and Schwannie. I consider you're the expert here, So
I'm just saying, as you've taken this whole story in,
do you feel like either one of them has a
stronger leg to stand on, so to speak, than the other,
because it feels very ballerased.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
Yeah, I don't think I'd say stronger.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
I don't know. Man.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
The biggest loss here all of my my friends are
refusing to watch this movie.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
The loss. I don't think it's not.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
It has shot right out of that Netflix top ten
like it's just so so cringey. I do have the
unedited video for you to watch if you've got ten
minutes to waste today at West Michigan Star dot com. Finally,
this one hurts. I'll admit I was super annoyed Netflix
announcing yesterday it is raising prices on most of its
(22:27):
subscription tears in both the US and Canada, after the
streaming giant reported nineteen million new subscribers in Q four
of last year. The jump is Netflix's biggest ever, so
it's attributed its success to things like Mike Tyson and
Jake Paul and a lot of the live.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Programming they've done. Here's the deal.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
The price announce sees the standard monthly membership without ads
going from fifteen to forty nine a month to seventeen
ninety nine a month, while a standard account with ads
goes up a dollar to seven ninety nine its highest
priced tier, which also gives you four K video twenty
four ninety.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Nine a month.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
I am so tired of this. How can you report
record profits and subscriptions? And also, oh yeah, by the way,
we're going to raise prices for everybody. That's just straight
greedy to me. I like that, Flea.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Did you miss the capitalism part of living in America?
Speaker 1 (23:25):
That's gross? Though doing both at the same time is
just such a slap in the face.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
All right, all of your celeb scoop at West Michigan
Star dot Com just.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Don't a fine point seven let's do it to end
of Battle Battle of the Sexes, it's Mack and Schmiddy
looking to get you to monster Jam. Rolling back over
to Van Andelreena March seventh through the ninth in your
family's tickets are right now if you give us the
top answer.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
All right. One hundred men surveyed what does a man
have on his body that some women find attractive and
others find gross?
Speaker 1 (23:52):
Uh? Some find attractive and others find gross. Nobody finds
back here attractive? Do they right?
Speaker 3 (23:59):
Actually, my best friends does. It's one of her favorite
parts of her husband is his back hair. That is
not the number one answer.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
That's love for you.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Yes, six, one, six, four, five eight, one oh five seven.
She's probably listening right now and going absolutely, I do
dig it. One hundred men surveyed what does a man
have on his body that some women find attractive and
others find gross? You've got that number one answer. You're
going to Monster Jam with Star Win? Oh five point seven?
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Good morning Star. Who's this Thomas? Tom Is, Let's see
if we can do this for you, sir. I want
to get you in to Monster Jam over there, bring kiddos,
go have some fun. But you gotta tell me. One
hundred dudes were asked what might a guy have on
his body that some women consider attractive and other women
would consider it kind of gross? Thomas, what do you
(24:47):
think the top answer there?
Speaker 3 (24:49):
I'm gonna say, like hair, chest hair, hair in general.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
You're going any any other like any other specific spot
for where that hair may be. You're going chess hair. Oh, Thomas, Thomas, Thomas,
so close, my friend, but not chest hair. I'm sorry,
many thanks, Thomas high star. Who's this? Sarah? Sarah? I
just had Thomas on the line and I thought he
(25:14):
had it. He was right there for it, but he
When a hundred guys were asked what might a man
have on his body that some women consider attractive and
others might find even a little bit gross, Thomas said
the chest hair, the body hair, And actually that was
the number four most common answer, but not the top answer,
although he was close. What do you think it is? Ooh,
(25:38):
a mustache? Yeah, or perhaps even a giant, grizzly beard,
neither of which I could really grow. My facial hair
looks pathetic even after a couple of weeks. I'm always
jealous of the dudes who can do the facial hair.
Top answer can pass. Yeah, you've got tickets for Monster
Jam over there at Van Andelerina and March Awesome. By
(26:00):
the way, ladies loving those beards. Facial hair was the
number one answer followed by piercings, then tattoos and chested
body hair, rounding out those top four answers. Well done,
Let's do it again tomorrow and get you these monster
jam tickets. Battle of the Sex. Who is eight fifteen?
You're on stowing a fonfoint seven snowin a finmfoints. Yeah,
(26:22):
A good morning to you. It's Mack and Schmidty. And
the news was everywhere yesterday. I saw that Hot Now
which used to be a staple all over the state
of Michigan, and it faded in recent years to the
point where there was only one left in the state
over in Sturgis. But there's about to be two more.
They're trying to make a little comeback here, and one
of them is actually going to be in West Michigan
(26:43):
near gun Lake, and the other one will be in
Elpina Schmidty. So, if you're a Hot and Now fan
from back in the day, good news your sliders are
returning there for you. But what's the one restaurant that
you remember from your childhood, or whether it's just such
good food that you had in college, or whatever it
was that you desperately would love to see come back I'm.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
So excited Chea Cheese and it's coming back, and it's
coming back twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
You guys.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
I had this actually as my trending towards the end
of last year.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
The first two you are opening in Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
But man, oh man, I think Chea Cheese beats hot,
now beats anything. Their chips and salsa were out of
this world. And I feel so good about it because
it's the sun of the Cheat Cheese founder, so he's
got all those like, oh gee recipes.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
Oh, I can't.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Wait, little Chee Chee juniors bringing it all back.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
I can't wait.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
It was right up the street from where I grew up,
and I always thought the building was so cool looking
and like the endless chips and salsa.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
You stole this from me. I was gonna go with that,
and I was bringing up the deep fried ice cream,
the fried ice cream and never made it to desert.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
Che Cheese always gave you so much food, you never
made it to dessert.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
That's a good one in there. I went back to
college and this franchise has only been gone for a
little bit. As a matter of fact, there's still a
couple of them. I think one of the stores is
in Chicago. But where's those beds? Mongolian barbecues?
Speaker 4 (28:05):
You know?
Speaker 1 (28:06):
They they have faded like crazy. I think there might
only be one left in the state of Michigan. At
one point in time, we got like six of them.
I worked there for years in college, and I got
a free meal every time I went in, So I
like literally built that into my brain as something that
I would crave, and now I haven't had it in years.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
On their space, it's not a Mongolian barbecue. But I
did not have a great, great, great experiences with Monngolian barbecues.
Now that might be why we don't see a whole
ton of them.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
It didn't go I asked this on I asked this
on Facebook. Smidia. I want to ask you if you
remember some of these mountain jacks. Yeah, before my time,
I feel like I've never been to much.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
I had a couple of them.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
Okay, how about cheddars, because I know cheddars is still
around in some other states.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
It's Lancing.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
You have a cheddars at Lances. Absolutely, my parents a
few people had brought those in. Burger Chef Oh.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
No, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Burger Chef was huge in the seventies and eighties. We
had a ton of them around here, and yeah, they
have disappeared. I'm sure a lot of people's childhood wrapped
up than those. And bill Naps was another one people.
I've never eaten it a Bill Naps even when there
was a ton of.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Them here in miss oh I'm just thankful they still saw
the chocolate cakes in the store.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Let's go down a little walk down food memory Lane
for us. Joined the conversation on Facebook at West Michigan.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Stock sometime because I get a good.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
Well, let's pop a little positivity in it this morning,
all right, feeling good on star Win O five point
seven on seven.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Well, I want to introduce you to the Karens.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
It's two women making a big change to help animals
in the Detroit area. Of course, with these frigid, frigid temps,
a lot of times dogs especially are left outside, but
in some circumstances it's not because of anything other than
the owner not able to provide what they wish they could.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
That's where the Karens step in.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
This is Melanie Thomas and Chantal Zunik who actually started
this business. They came to the idea that Karen having
a negative connotation could become something positive. The Canine Animal
Rescue emergency networking system. They spend their spare time saving
animals that otherwise can't help themselves.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
The Karens.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
We're out and about visiting twenty to thirty homes sometimes
in just a week, to follow up, especially with grateful
pet owners that otherwise just aren't able to make it work,
being able to provide a space for their dog, or
feed their dog, or have something to protect it. To
Shentell talking to Fox too.
Speaker 7 (30:31):
I am able to sleep at night then, you know,
because you know, we worry about these dogs out here,
and you know they don't have anything, and sometimes you know,
a lot of people are struggling right now. So it
just takes a doghouse, It just takes a bale of straw,
and you know, to better that dog's life. And then
it gives that owner in a new sense of being
a pet owner. You know that they don't have to
struggle or choose between feeding themselves or their animal. So
(30:55):
I mean it, you know, makes us feel good. It's
just a passion that we have.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
And here is neighbor to I'm Washington talking about the
help he got from the Karens.
Speaker 6 (31:03):
Fear blessing here, real blessing.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
I came back to rights her yare blessing.
Speaker 6 (31:08):
They're real big.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
Help and you can get help too. The Karens would
love donations. They drive around. They even get referrals. Check
out the Karens to zero two one dot org. They're
doing some pretty awesome work in Detroit.
Speaker 1 (31:23):
Yeah, let's keep this animal related here, Schmidti, because it
was back in July of last year that a good
samaritan actually discovered three little abandoned puppies that were basically
discarded as trash in Memphis, Tennessee. Will these smellnourish pups
suffering from hunger as well as burns. They were taking
the Tales of Hope Dog Rescue there for treatment and
(31:43):
actually got the names of Olympians Simone Biles, Michael Phelps,
and Kobe Bryanson. Certainly exuded that fighter spirit, especially Simone,
whose calm and gentle personality sort of emerged right away,
and the folks that Tales of Hope actually recognized her
potential and when she went end up finding her new
forever home with Sally Parrish, who happened to be the
director of the University of Memphis. Well, her path was
(32:07):
set forward because pash Parish actually adopted Simone after her
school had just received a grant to launch a therapy
dog program at University Middle School. So this pop underwent
highly specialized training and now is the therapy pup for
over two hundred and seventy students, helping to brighten their
day and of course even improve academic performances, as study
(32:30):
after study showed the Bennett's benefits of having these therapy
dogs in classrooms and in your school. I know, my
son's elementary school just got their therapy dog. My daughter's
middle school has one. We talk about Indie the therapy
dog over at the Hell of Devas Children's Hospital all
the time over there too. These dogs can make such
a difference and often come from the most humble beginnings
(32:51):
that you wouldn't necessarily expect.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
And it's all donations.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
Yeah, that's really really cool. So just wanted to shout
that out and I always want to share great stories
positivity that we find for you every day six forty
five and nine twenty here on Star Mack and Schmidty
in the morning weekday, starting at six am on Star
one oh five point seven
