Speaker 1 (00:03):
Wake.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
It gets my day going.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
It makes me laugh. I it Mac and Schmidty in
the morning on Star one O five point seven.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Good morning, Good morning. More importantly, happy Friday, dude.
Speaker 4 (00:18):
Yeah, it was devastating. I thought it was Saturday. So
my alarm went off this morning at three oh five
and I went, oh, we've got one more day to go.
So man, if that was you.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Too, so sorry that is the stinger.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Will it help today this afternoon when you wake up
from your nap and you're like, wait, it's on Friday.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Yeah, no, it'll still be that, but whatever, we'll make
through it.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
I feel like after the you know, the holiday weekend,
if you will. From last week, this has been one
of the longest weeks of the year for I really
thought this was going to be the week that I
caught up on sleep and everything else. My son, who's
the second loudest person in my house next to me,
was gone this week at camp, so I was like, Oh,
it's gonna be so much calmer at the house. That
(01:00):
terrible sleep all week long, it was awful. I missed him.
I'm like, I wish you were here, that it would
have felt normal.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
There's a new study out two and a half days
is the minimum it takes parents to recover from vacation
with their kids. And I'm over here like, well, I'm
on day five and I'm still struggling. So I guess
I'm an outlier on that study.
Speaker 5 (01:19):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
Well after the Department of Justice officially wrapped their investigation
on now deceased Jeffrey Epstein, claiming there was no client
list they could find. Ghlaine Maxwell is hoping her case
will now be reviewed and that the President will pardon her,
but sources close to the White House say there is
absolutely no way in h e double hockey sticks that
(01:50):
is going to happen, a source with Glaine's group said.
In the wake of the Trump administration's debunking of Epstein's
so called client list, which some people obviously had hoped
would bring down various politicians and celebrities, the British heiress
and former Epstein partner is now hopeful Trump can get
her out of jail. When asked if this was an option,
a senior Trump official said there have been absolutely no
(02:12):
discussions or even considerations of a pardon for Glane, and
there never will be. She was of course sentenced to
twenty years behind bars back in June of twenty twenty two,
convicted of aiding an exploitation and abuse of multiple miners
over the course of a decade, and she's currently serving
her time in Florida. So she not getting that out.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
I was Kenna say, you think people freaked out that
there wasn't a report coming up. They would have lost
their minds if he pardoned her.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Well, you know, Brad pet is in the middle of
this massive move with the new F one movie and
he literally got to done the F one fields, getting
behind the wheel of an actual McLaren Formula one car.
The experience went down at the Circuit of the Americas
in Austin just a couple of weeks ago. But now
we're getting some pictures and reports from that experience. The
(03:01):
actor went literal insane, full speed on that US Grand
Prix track. He went through a crash course with the
mclaranteam ahead of his run, even going over how to
back off down shift watching wind current. He had those
I don't even know what you call the team members
that are in your ear telling you what to do
and if you've got I think it's different in F
(03:22):
one though. I think it's got some fancy name. He said,
this was absolutely incredible. He even got instructions from testing
lead Phil Thomas, and at the end of it, the
crew said he could probably improve his breaking and reminded
him that the mechanics are incredible in F one car.
So he did five laps. He dropped actual seconds each
(03:46):
time around. He got faster and faster and faster. However,
it was pointed out he has a ton of work
to do before being able to catch up to Landon
Norris or Oscar past.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Yeah that's fair, honestly.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
I mean a lot of times you get to keep
like an outfit or wardrobe thing, keep the F one
car if you can.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Brad, Oh yeah, I don't see that happening. Finally, I
just thought this was so much fun because I had
absolutely no IDEA legendary British actor Michael Caine is best
friends with Vin Diesel. It's so cute Michael making a
very rare sighting a couple days ago out to lunch
at his favorite spot in London. The ninety two year
(04:22):
old iconic actor was out to lunch with his longtime
friend Vin Diesel. Michael wasn't a wheelchair, but Vin was
scooting him around. The two were taking a few pictures.
This is all for an apparent upcoming documentary about Michael
Caine that Vin Diesel will be a huge part of
because the two have been friends for more than thirty years.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
That's super interesting.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
No idea, And I just thought that was so cute.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Have their pasts ever crossed in a movie?
Speaker 6 (04:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (04:48):
They did the Last witch Hunter about ten years ago.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Randon.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Yeah, some great pictures I've got for you with your
scoop at West Michigan Star DOCM point seven.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
It's Mack and Schmidty. Hopefully you're ready to have a
great weekend. We'll geary up for it. Feeling good right
now on Star And you know what, gotta celebrate another
national championship, this one for right here in West Michigan
for Mary free Beds Power Soccer Team NATTY champions.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Yes, that's right.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Mary Freebed actually started a power soccer program only six
years ago, back in twenty nineteen for athletes with disabilities. Now,
the sport features three players in a goalie and they
used powered wheelchairs to kick an oversized soccer ball on
the basketball court with these cages that are sort of
built around wheelchairs.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Really really cool.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Well, the team struggled at the beginning of the season
but started kicking, but made it all the way to
Nationals where they had a chance at a national championship.
Overdrive player Kyler Fryar told Fox seventeen he grew up
playing soccer before being diagnosed with muscular dystrophee at the
age of thirteen, a genetic disease that causes muscle weakness. Well,
finding power soccer was transformative for him, he said, I
(05:55):
look forward to practice every week. Tournament weekends are once
a month, and it's what I look forward to every month.
And man, is it a good thing that he founded
because the championship game went all the way to double
overtime before Kyle scored the game winning goal and secured
that national championship for the Overdrive. And it's done so
much more for him than that, As he continued to
(06:17):
explain to Fox seventeen.
Speaker 6 (06:19):
It kind of was like a like a light went off.
I was like, there's a big possibility here. I'm definitely
gonna do this. There was some tough days, but I
really feel like ever since I started playing power soccer,
it really has brightened up everything and really gave me
opportunity to get back into sports.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
So big congratulations to Kyle and of course the entire
Mary Free Bed Overdrive team, your national champions.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
By the way, the Thrive then coming up November eighth,
yours truly is your MCS. We can raise a bunch
of money for awesome Mary Free Bed programs just like that.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Love it.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
So when we first talked with Karen Tyson, she has
become an absolute blessing and she said it's all all
thanks to Degage Ministries going from Hungary to house. This
is incredible. She's talking about a brand new program and
it's called heart Side Landings. It's a program from this
homeless outreach group that has absolutely exceeded organizers' expectations. I
(07:17):
have gotten the chance to see firsthand what this has
done for our unhoused community, and it's incredible. Karen had
a very very tough childhood growing up by twenty one
as she was homeless, she didn't have anyone in the area.
After moving down here from Pataski, she was living in
a tent encampment. Oftentimes she would have to move when
the place would clear it out. If she was near
the river and it started to flood, she'd have to
(07:38):
quickly grab her tent. In fact, at one point she
had to run out of her tent before a pro
pain tank blew up. She had no stability, but thanks
to this program, she has found new life. So Heartside
Landings has twenty five women who are working to regain life.
Many of them suffer from mental illness combined with substance
use disorder. And while the team had hoped when this
(08:00):
first started last year, sixty percent of them would stay
housed for a full year and get back on their feet. Instead,
all twenty five residents, one hundred percent of them have
remained housed in this program and are back on track
to a successful life. Karen tells Wood that is exactly
what she considers a blessing. I think these guys to
understand where, like I said, we're coming from a little
(08:22):
bit more and they're trying to help us. I just
really wanted to highlight this because it is such an
incredible organization. It's such a cool program. If you want
to learn more, just check out Deggishing ministries right downtown,
gr Angels on.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Earth, always here to point out the great things that
are going on around us, especially when they're in our
own backyard, like those two stories. We'll do it again
coming up for you. Nine Swanna here on Star.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
Movies, Music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
It's the celebrity scoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
This is breaking scoop, y'all. We have a brand new
album from Justin Bieber. Yes, everybody waking up this morning
going wait what? Releasing one of his most personal albums
to date, the seventh studio album titled Swag dropping just
hours ago. Twenty one songs with a bunch of different collaborations,
(09:14):
and they address everything from all the rumors about his
marriage to how his mental health is doing. This is
four years since his last album of Justice, back in
twenty twenty one. It's got songs like Daisies Go Baby,
Things You Do. A one track titled Walking Away appears
to talk about his marriage with Haley and how strong
(09:36):
it is. He paired this with a bunch of Instagram
pictures he dropped last night of him and Haley, Him,
Haley and their son. Is There's another song that talks
about that run in with paparazzi that went viral last month.
He talks about the friends that he's been able to
keep by his side. This is wild. Now. We started
to get rumor yesterday there were a couple of billboards
(09:58):
that popped up in Random's spots around the world that
had people wondering if some of those pictures he had
dropped in the studio were him actually working on new music.
Can now officially confirm Beab's got a nice shout out
from one of his good friends, singer kid Le Roy,
who said, if you don't listen to this album when
it drops, we cannot be friends. I don't make the rules.
(10:19):
This is just so dang good, and it's really good
news for Bieber. He's also very brilliantly timed officially ended
his financial feud with his former producer Scooter Braun. Sources
say Justin and Scooter just hammered out a settlement on money.
Justin owd Scooter over that Justice tour, copping up the
(10:41):
twenty seven million he owed him as part of that advance.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
I mean, I did not see this coutmany in the
sense of four years.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
I think I called it a little bit earlier this week.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
My problem is is this okay?
Speaker 2 (10:53):
So I think, all right, you haven't put on an
album in four years, You've been working on new music
for a long time, but then you got a song
about the Papa Razzi incident from a month ago. I mean,
do these songs take like thirty minutes to make or
O six?
Speaker 4 (11:04):
Well, so that's what I'm wondering. The paparazzi incident went
viral a month ago. I don't know if that's when
it happened. I think that this song, and I haven't
had a chance to go through and listen to every
single track because I do sleep.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
I do.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
I think that he's in this song. It sounds like
talking about a ton of these interactions that have happened
over the last like two years. But there's a lot
of him talking about being a dad. It's pretty intense.
It's really really deep. So I'll have more next hour
in Scoop, including Hayley's response to this. Kylie Kelsey is
definitely as swifty as we all know, and in the
(11:37):
latest episode of her Not Gonna Live podcast, she talked
just briefly about Taylor. She's very very quiet about her
brother in law's girlfriend, but actually had Ed sheeron on
the podcast where they were talking about the loudest show
Ed has ever done anywhere in the world, and yes,
(11:59):
where it is right here in the mentons.
Speaker 7 (12:00):
The loudest, and there was a bit of a cheat
code on it, but Detroit and we brought on Eminem
and that was the loudest I've ever heard of crowd,
like anywhere in the world, Like, there's never never been
a louder crowd than that. But I will say it
was because I brought Eminem on stage in Detroit, like,
that's the cheat code.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
And when he asked Kylie what the cheat code would
be in her hometown of Philly, she said, I think
it would be Taylor, but I'm biased, And Ed said, really,
I think it would be Taylor anywhere, and Kylie said, true,
very true. She is that great. But that's all she
would say about Taylor.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Whatever.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
How do you think she got ends here aother podcast videe?
Obviously Taylor hooked that up.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
It's funny though, because Ed also admitted he is now
an NFL fan and got into the Tennessee Titans when
he moved to Nashville for Taylor's tour a few years ago. Finally,
if you have no plans this weekend, think about road
tripping to Detroit because there's a really cool giveaway. The
Tigers are celebrating Kalmerica Park's twenty fifth anniversary this weekend
(12:57):
and tomorrow. Early fans will receive a stadium replica that
was built. This is so cool and as a surprise,
some of them are going to be autographed. Signers will
include current players, alumni, local artists, and even big musicians.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Cool.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
Isn't that awesome? So if you maybe have plans to
go to the Tiger's game tomorrow, get there early. These
are really sweet. Got them posted for you with your
scoop at West Michigan.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Start off out, Come on, Schmid spilled the goods, you said,
bucket list item Yeah even know was here in Gion.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
I took my kids to a polo match last night.
Loves Oh my gosh, so she's seen the Battle of
the Beers.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
I've never seen it.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Oh my gosh. This was so cool, you guys, and
I can't even take credit. One of my friends actually
texted a few days ago and she's been trying to
do a bunch of different things with her kids this
summer because they're getting to be a little older and
she's trying to make those memories. She said, do you
want to go to a polo match? That was like, oh,
you get there, and it was I mean, this was
(14:00):
top tier. We're gonna go to the rest of the season.
I think there's two or three more of these. They
called it Divots at dusk. It was out in Lowell
at meadow View Farm and she was like, do you
want to go? I said, why not, let's do this.
You just paid to park and then we packed our
picnic baskets and it was two hours. It was six
to eight. We had the greatest time ever. I have
(14:25):
never seen horses run so fast. My kids jaw on
the ground the entire time. I don't think there's ever
been a sporting event, even me calling the Grand Rapids rise,
I don't think they stayed for the entire match. They
were in awe of this. The players were so kind.
They brought the horses around and then at halftime everybody
started running on the field and you fill in the
dibbits you get to fill in. My daughter looked at
(14:49):
me like, slow, look like am I allowed? I was like,
go ahead. She's like, yeah, she's running out there. My
son was just like, this is the greatest thing I've
ever seen my whole life. I've never been this close
to a horse. And I'm telling you, guys, it was
the most like family friendly event I've ever gone to.
You pull your car up, We tailgated out of my
(15:10):
friend's jeep. We had a picnic, blanket, low chairs.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Did you pick a horse or you pick a team?
Speaker 4 (15:15):
You know, we had a favorite player, I mean because
oh my gosh, she had on this baby blue helmet
that matched the baby blue saddle that matched the baby
blue leggings. And I don't think they're called leggings, but
I don't know polo.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
In my head they're wearing.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
They're wearing like suit jackets, almost like blazers.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Are they doing that?
Speaker 4 (15:30):
No, just got polo shirts on. They felt there's a
and a white polo. Oh my gosh. It was so
much fun. And then as if it couldn't be cooler,
what if the.
Speaker 8 (15:41):
Horses walked out in a birthday sash. It was his birthday,
so we had to get selfie's and it's saying, oh
my gosh, we sang. They brought out many horses and
a donkey at halftime, So now my daughter wants a
pet donkey. It does you guys, it was so much fun.
It was just such a great I think the Grand
(16:01):
Rappids Polo Club. I feel so ridiculous that I had
no idea this existed. And just know you have seven.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
New fans and we are going to the rest of
your matches this year.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Man, So you guys, you go and you fill in
the divots, right, yeah, does somebody do you also have
the opportunity to maybe pick up some of the horse chips.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
I didn't see a single yard apple.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
No, not a single Oh.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
I think they're running too fast. I think they're so
physically at their physical peak. No, we kept talking.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
About actually a kid, as a kid, seeing a horse
do that while moving was one of the most fascinating things.
Really don't even stop, they just keep going.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
And then you had their little their tails were braided.
Lose in mind, lose in my mind. So I do
not gate keep good things. You guys. Check it out.
Grand Rabbits Polo Club. I think they've got two or
three matches left and it is so worth it.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
It's super funny you say that my sister when she
moved here to West Michigan just a couple of years ago.
This is the community that like she got involve.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
I wonder if there's others in West Michigan. There's something
along the lake shore. If there's I don't know, let
me because I need all of the polo info.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Now.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
I had on my dress, my hat, Schmitty. I'll just
tell you, is this happened in my family. You be
very careful with what you're doing with young Sofia, because
before you know it, you could find No.
Speaker 4 (17:18):
She knows that we can't afford that.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
That is never stopped the horse girl from content.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
It's gonna stop us, Honey. I work in radio and
she's well aware of the restrictions that puts on our
livelihood and lifestyle.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
Mom, we can board it someplaces she'll never even see.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
I'm gonna say, honey, but it was. It was twenty
dollars to park and you can pretend these are your
horses growing up. It's polo club. Couldn't say enough good things.
It was super fun.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Man, that does sound like a great Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
It was so sweet.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
It's Mac and Schmitty in the Morning on Star one
oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
Time to take time, spill.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
The two sweet that's right, spill it sweetheart tea time
Here on Star one oh five point seven, it's Mac
and Schmitty dealer, shout schwitty.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
What is this week's drama coming in?
Speaker 3 (17:58):
All Right?
Speaker 4 (17:58):
I kind of feel, honestly like a little bit of
a Karen when I got this email. It's about summer
work for your teens. So there's some parenting help that's needed.
Should you force a summer job on your kid? My
friend Alexis is battling with her daughter over summer work.
Her daughter is down to find a job, wants it
to be a quote unquote sweet one. It turns out
(18:18):
that means things like retail and food service not on
the list. Alexis is nervous she'll totally turn her daughter
off to working at all, and she wants to instill
that lesson of hard earned money. But if her daughter
finds something she actually enjoys, maybe she'll stick with it
long term. Does she keep looking or buckle down and deal?
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Okay, My biggest piece of missing information that I guess
is the age, because if we're talking about a fourteen
year old's nah, I don't think you got to force it.
If you're talking about a seventeen year old, they're gonna
be headed off into the real world here pretty quick.
If they've never had a job, get them out. Well,
I was about to stop you right there. I hope
she's not talking about a seventeen year old because you've
lost it. Then, honey, hope you've lost the battle.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
I mean, this is I'm thinking, this is a conversation
with a thirteen or a fourteen year old that is
looking for a job. Six one six, four five eight
one oh five seven. A lot of you on Facebook
are kind of taking my side, Like, listen, first jobs
aren't supposed to be sweet or glamorous. Kelly pointed out
most of us end up in food or retail as
a first job. I was a secretary for my first job.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
What I want for my kids is to not think
they have to quit when something gets hard or they
don't like it. I want them to struggle a little bit,
because that's more what life is like. It will throw
adversity at you, and so if you just shy away
from that stuff, I'll take that.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
I actually would say I want my kids to work
with other people that are struggling.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
Yeah, okay, you make the.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Best friends you have when you're slinging Sammy's and ice creamake.
If you're working until three a m. And the bar
closing shifts, giving out food and driving, that's that's a relationship.
Four five eight one oh five seven.
Speaker 9 (19:55):
Hey, Catherine, I think it's important for a teenager to
really figure you're out what they want in life and
to learn the hard lessons. So if she really doesn't
want to work the job, I guess, don't force her.
But then don't give her a dime and see how
long she can go without spending money that she doesn't have.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
I'll tell you how long as soon as she gets
the first curR insurance bill.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Fair.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
If you are sixteen, you're about to learn real quickly.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
We call that an ultimatum. Pick your poison, all right,
Either you're not going out Friday night or you're working,
all right.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
Cathertain, So just to keep looking, give give your girl
a chance.
Speaker 10 (20:32):
See Stephen, I mean to be honest to you. I
think parents could be dream killers as long as they're
working and they're not doing anything illegal, and they're happy
to go to work. Because I'm a big fan of
waking up doing what you want to do, not what
you have to do. And I think that's the way
to start it off, by training them like that and
not forcing them to do something that they don't want
(20:52):
to do.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
Oh no, I was actually pretty proud of myself for
making a sandwich in twenty two seconds. I didn't realize
that was going to ignite a passion.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
Well, us, we're talking about teenagers in twenty five now, Schmidti.
So how many parents have to hear like, well, I
think I'm just gonna be a content creator.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
I'm just gonna start a YouTube.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
Sure, all right, this is definitely a conversation. I'm sure
your house has had if your teen is looking for
a job, help this girl out, this mom with her daughter,
do you keep looking for a job she's going to
enjoy or think is cool? Or is it like, hey,
look here's a job, do it? Six one six, four
five eight, one oh five seven. You can drop a
(21:29):
comment on our Facebook too.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
Eighty's music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
I mean, happy early Christmas to the believers. Justin Bieber
releasing a brand new album overnight last night. It's called Swag,
his first album in four years after he dropped Justice
back in twenty twenty one, a twenty one track project.
Other's my different collaborations on here, and it is easily
(22:03):
his most personal album to date. I've gotten now a
chance to kind of listen to a couple different songs.
I gotta tell you, there's a couple of them that
give me nineties seal vibes. And some people think it
has more of an R and B feel. They do
think it sounds different genre wise than anything he's really done.
(22:25):
And he really goes into depth about a lot of
different things. He talks about all of the recent rumors
over his marriage, saying the two are still very much
in love. Him and his wife Haley. He talks about
different showdowns with paparazzi that have been a big part
of the news. He talks about his mental health. In
honor of this, both him and Haley dropping a dumb
(22:48):
of photos on social media last night of them as
a family. We got some new photos of their son,
Jack Blues. This is a really big deal. Justin's very
very proud of the Sources have said he has been
waiting a long time and has put a ton of work,
heart and soul into this album.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Swag interesting and the fact that you're just throwing me
off with the sealed comparison Right.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Now, I trying to remember the names the titles of
the tracks I had listened to, and I said, I'm
not kind of feel like yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
My question for you is is there any bangers on
this new album? I actually kind of liked Bieber's last
album with songs like Peaches and Intentions.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
I just thought that they were good.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
I don't know if banger is the word for it,
because it's a bit more so. This is a bit
more slow going, I think. But so far it seems
like fans are really really enjoying this, So I'll try
to get some songs up for you to sneak peak. Listen.
If you were a Scrubs fan, get ready. The reboot
has been greenlit. Now. I was watching comments last night
(23:50):
on this. It is very mixed. People are like, listen,
this is one of the best shows that was ever
on TV. Please don't mess it up. It's a straight
to series order coming from ABC. Donald Faison have closed deal,
Zach Lath, They're good to go. Sarah talk is good
to go. All three are also going to executive produce,
so I think that's really good news. This is going
(24:12):
to be a series that follows them together where now
medicine has changed and they're navigating the old waters that
they knew into what is now happening. What I do
love about Scrubs is if you ask anyone that works
in the medical profession, they say this show is the
closest thing to real life working in a hospital of anything.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
Do you love Neil Flynn, who people know as either
the dad from the middle or from the janitor. If
you're as a Scrubs fan, one of the main characters
of this show, do you know if he's coming back
to it?
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Schmiddy?
Speaker 2 (24:45):
I was just curious, And then of course John C McGinley, Yeah,
I other doctors.
Speaker 4 (24:52):
So far, I think they've only confirmed those three as
having fully signed, sealed, and delivered on contracts, so we
don't even have a premiere date on this. I'm curious
that it's going to be a Scrubs two point zero. Finally,
the Internet left in shock after Jack White of the
White Stripes has announced he's been living fifty years without
(25:12):
a cell phone at all. Period, not just a smartphone,
a cell phone of any kind, of course. I told
you yesterday. Celebrating his fiftieth birthday on Wednesday, and announced
his wife Olivia, had given him his first ever mobile
device posted pictures. Rather, his wife posted pictures for him online,
saying to his followers, well, y'all, it's either all over
(25:34):
for me now or just the beginning. I am now
the reluctant owner of a cellular telephone for the first
time in my life. He went on to explain the
issues he's run into. He said, I've been saying my
day's were numbered. I can't listen to music in my car.
I can't park it a parking lot by myself because
I can't use a QR code. Literally, your life is
almost impossible if you don't have a phone. So I
(25:55):
guess here. I am my phone number, the square root
of all of our combined social interaction times.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
Pie. I hate it.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
I hate it. You already went fifty years with that one.
I would have treasured the idea.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
Yeah, but he's right. I can't park, you can't do
any of those things. Go to a restaurant and be like,
do you have French prize? It's just funny. I love
it all of yours celebscoop, but West Michigan Star dot.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Com it is time to battle on your Friday morning.
Battle of the section is look at the land you
over at our Frederick Meyer Gardens and Sculpture part to
go check out all of that incredible art, the amazing,
amazing nature exhibits. I mean, there's so much to do.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
Oh man, it's the perfect day out. One hundred women surveyed.
Name a public place where there's a line for the bathroom.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
This isn't anywhere near the top answer right, But do
you hate it as much as I do? When you
try to use a bathroom at a gas station and
it's a single stall, wait, and there's a line for it,
you won't do it.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
I'll pee on the grass. I'm sorry. There's something you
maybe didn't know about me. I cannot Public restrooms are
such a weird thing for me.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
That's another reason why, though, Because if you're gonna use
the bathroom in a gas station, you know you really
have to go. So when there's a line there, you're like,
are you kidding me?
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Right now?
Speaker 4 (27:04):
I will tell you the Myer bathrooms not bath very nice,
very nice. Very nice, six one, six, four, five eight,
one oh five seven. One hundred women surveyed name a
public place where there's a line for the bathroom?
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Good morning, star? Who's this Darcy Darksy? Where are you
at this morning?
Speaker 9 (27:22):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (27:23):
All right, Darcy, you gotta tell me. One hundred guys
were asked to name a public place that there's often
a line for the bathroom.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
What do you think? Their top answer was Darcy.
Speaker 4 (27:33):
They got sports venue.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
A sports venue like a stadium, you'd say, right, yeah,
the stadium is the number two most common answer. I'm sorry, Darcy,
all right, thank you, thank you, Hi star. Who's this?
Speaker 3 (27:53):
Cory?
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Darcy just gave me a great guest and she was
so close. But one hundred guys were asked to name
a public place where there's often a for the bathroom.
She said a sports game, a stadium for a sports event,
which was the number two most common answer. And oh,
so close to the top one.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
But not it. What do you think it is?
Speaker 9 (28:13):
I concert?
Speaker 2 (28:15):
You were gonna go with concerts, Sometimes it's at a stadium,
sometimes a smaller venue, of course, but it makes no
difference where it's at. As soon as that opener band
gets off stage, everybody's in line at the bathroom, and
you're lucky if you make it back before the band
you're actually there trying to see is done with first
half of their set.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
It's the worst. And that's why concerts the top answer
where to go time.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Yeah, Corey, it was concerts, followed by stadium, then movie
theater at the mall. And maybe this list is outdated
because I don't think I've waited in line for either
one of those bathrooms on the end there for quite
some time. But concerts and stadiums, for sure, Corey, You're
going to our Frederick Meyer Gardens and Sculpture Park.
Speaker 9 (28:57):
Sweet, thanks so much.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
It is Friday. Thanks for sharing it with us, Mack
and SCHMITTI here on Stylino five point seven, and I.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Mentioned it earlier.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Got into a little fender bender that somehow turned into
the most expensive fender bender in the history of time.
Speaker 6 (29:12):
Girl.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Yeah, I had to total out my car, which wasn't
like a new car. It was a twenty fifteen Jeep
Cherokee was you know, great shape. I loved the vehicle,
but now I've got to replace it, and I'm probably
gonna replace it with something pretty similar. I mean maybe
a couple of years newer, but it's probably still gonna
be a used car, just depends.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
I'll go back and forth.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
I'm going to go over to my friends there at
Borgman Mazda and see what we're going to get into.
But I started looking through some of their used car
inventory with my wife last night, just sort of going
through and trying to see what I could, you know,
get into and afford, and then looking at some of
the vehicles, and there was a Jeep and it was
a twenty twenty. It was, you know, five years newer
than my previous Jeep, and the price was sort of
(29:51):
manageable in there, and I'm looking at it SCHMITTI and
I start going through and I'm like, Shapol car plays
in this thing. My last car didn't have that. That's sweet.
It's got all these different things. Oh, adaptive cruise control. God,
I've been waiting for a car with adaptive cruise control.
And then I saw that it did not have heated seats.
Speaker 4 (30:10):
Which is really surprising that the shockheads ran actually honestly
not to Samuji. I'm at the point now where I
want a heated steering wheel, you know what.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
That my my Jeep had that too, yeah, last two
of them.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
And so when I saw that there was no heated seats,
I'm like, this has to be a mistake. I'm like
looking through I went to other vehicles that were also there,
and I'm like, no, see it, listen right here, and
I'm like it's out.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
It's dead to me right off the back.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
Yeah, heated seats would probably be one that would need
to be on my There is checkbox.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
No vehicle that I'm buying in twenty twenty five that
doesn't at least have heated seats. I mean, all those
other things that I mentioned I care less about than
having toasty buns as I'm rolling down the road in
the middle of a West Michigan winter.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
I'll tell you, though, I've been without heated seats for two.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Years now, and I've never had them until a few
years ago.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
It's okay. I mean, you're still first world problem struggling,
but you just put blanket though.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
Have you been in the sweet cars that also have
the cooling seats now? Where I feel like my butt's
getting wet all the time?
Speaker 4 (31:04):
When I drove that Maserati from Ziggler brand New, I
was like, oh, this is a queen's throne.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
Yeah, beautiful breeze.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
Right, this is what's gonna be wild for me because
I know we're coming up to this change from my car.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
And you've had sus for twenty ten.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
I don't even have Bluetooth. I'm still rocking a cord
in my cigarette lighter, you know what I'm talking. And
she's running beautifully. I'm just saying, like it has come
so far now that it's wild to see what cars do.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
And I'm over here talking about cars and people are like,
you know, I'm thinking about getting electric vehicle, maybe a
full service driving and I'm like, just give me eating seats, man,
that's all I'm looking for.
Speaker 3 (31:46):
Would be good.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Let's make this Friday a little bit lighter for you.
Right now, feeling good here on scot One's You Guess Man.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
Well, I love this show and it is always so
fascinating to see how people end up being related. I
had this story a couple months ago when we first
heard about Pope Leo and his connections to some of
the rich and famous, well Henry Lewis Gates Junior. Of course,
if you're a fan of the show, finding your roots
like I am, the host and his executive producer have
(32:14):
been diving deep into the Pontiff's history and finally got
to travel to the Vatikan to meet eye to eye,
base to base and show the true family tree. It
was confirmed Pope Leo related to Madonna, Angelina, Jolie, Justin Bieber,
Justin Trudeau, and Jack Harrouac, just to name a few.
(32:34):
Turns out, he's a ninth cousin several times removed linked
through a maternal ancestor born in the fifteen nineties. But
there was more. Pope Leo discovered he has two freedom
fighters in his family tree. He has multi racial lineage,
including generations of ancestors that were enslaved people as well
(32:56):
as a lineage that were slaveholders. It was a really powerful,
full moment on Instagram, Gates actually marking the visit calling
it one of the most meaningful and deeply moving moments
of our lives. And I'm just waiting for this awesome
special to drop because you know they had to do something.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
I'll be honest.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
When you started to say that he had a multi
racial lineage background, I was like, if he is also
related to Beyonce and Oprah Schmitty. I am calling Shinani.
I don't think we have It's all part of a plan.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
Do you think it's quite there?
Speaker 1 (33:29):
Right coming? This is pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
You hear about incredible stories of perseverance for the greatest
in their sports, right Michael Jordan, cut from his high
school team, Tom Brady, last one selected in the NFL draft,
goats well for the two thousand and four women's Wilch
Weird Chair wheel Chair There we Go basketball team. They're
going to be inducted into the twenty twenty five United
States Olympic and Paralympic Committee Hall of Fame this weekend,
(33:55):
and the roster is filled with stories of persistence, a
that overcame incredible obstacles. And Carly Hoffman Schwartz from right
here in West Michigan, a Grand Rapid South Christian graduate.
She was part of that twenty twenty four women's gold
medal team and a part of their two thousand and
eight gold medal team as well, and her story, like
so many of her teammates, just filled with incredible challenges
(34:18):
and overcoming them. She actually lost portions of both of
her legs in a lawnmower accident when she was only
three years old. Never let it stop her. She played
sports all through her life, including high school playing softball
using prosthetic legs, and she also played high school wheelchair
basketball for the Junior Pacers. And it was that sort
of upbringing and experience that shaped her, along with her faith,
(34:41):
into the person that she has become. And she talked
about it with wood Tva.
Speaker 11 (34:45):
Everybody goes through a hard time. Some people's hard times
are a little bit easier, and some people have mountains
they have to climb. Only luckily, you know, the way
I was brought up in my faith and God, I
think that all of those things allowed me to understand that,
you know, there's so much more to just myself in
(35:07):
this in this universe, and that I have a role
to play in this world.
Speaker 5 (35:12):
Man.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
She's been using it, not only winning those gold medals,
but she got a scholarship to the University of Illinois,
landed her on a path to becoming a humanitarian. She
has been working opening the door to helping refugees in Ukraine, Israel,
Jordan Lebanon a rock. She's just got a huge sense
of purpose now. But those athletic days are still with her.
(35:33):
She is going to be again inducted into the Hall
of Fame this weekend after being a part of the
Grand Rapid Sports Hall of Fame since twenty fourteen. I'm
very impressive, very impressive. Congratulations to all of those team
members for sure, feeling good coming at you a couple
times a day. I always want to tell you about
something awesome going on out there. Let's do it on
Monday six forty five and nine twenty here on Star
Mack
Speaker 3 (35:53):
And Schmidty in the morning weekday, starting at six am
on Star one oh five point seven
