Wake. It gets my day going.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
It makes me laugh.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Mac and Schmitty in the Morning on Star one of
five point seven.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Wow, good morning, Schmitty, Good morning. Welcome into your Tuesday
and line enough to be a lot like your Monday
in terms of being absolutely gorgeous. But maybe my favorite
part has been how it's been in the mid fifties
last couple of mornings.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
It feels nice.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Oh, it so does, just like the cool and the
Christmas christ.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Crisp, Chris, here we go n Christmas. Just yet, We've
got a few more days.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Give me that, just a few more days. Welcome into it.
I know that obviously, with this beautiful weather, you want
to get outside, you want to enjoy yourself. Perhaps, though,
if you're going to go fishing, don't land yourself at
urgent care like I did yesterday. Oh yeah, we'll have
that fun story coming up at eight forty five this morning.
It wasn't for me. It wasn't for me.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Oh that sounds worse. Yes it is, Oh boy, a
little maybe a parent confession here as well.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Y'all.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Welcome into it. Yes, we are gonna get choked up
with those Lady Wilson tickets. At seven point thirty this morning.
We're gonna send you to meo at eight point fifteen.
And honestly, speaking of that weather, do enjoy it, because boy,
oh boy, the heat builds in starting tomorrow. I know
we're trying to figure out some fun things to do
with the in laws while they're in town, and we
want to do those Silver Lake sand dune rides.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
My husband's just like, well, Wednesday and Thursday are out
and I'm like why and he goes, because I can't.
I can't that oppressive hate, babe, you know how it
does my body bad things.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
I can't.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
I just can't.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Well, sounds worse to you a heat wave or a
heat dome. Uh, probably a dome because it sits on
top of the dome. Yeah, you know, there's at least
there's a refreshing part coming sometime. Maybe we could know.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah, storm teammate knows. All right, So we're gonna get
to that, and have you taken care of for your Tuesday.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Well, this is just the definition of tragic Cosby sho
alum Malcolm Jamal Warner has died in Costa Rica at
the age of fifty four. It sounds like it was
a result of an accidental drowning while he was vacationing
with his daughter, of course, best known as Theodore Huxtable
on the hit series Denise Soldier.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Right, real, what about this? Is that a decal? Now?
Have you been tagged by the Wildlife Society? It's an erring?
Dad does a hold in my ear? And denisais it
might be infected?
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Yeah, this is really sad. We are still getting details.
Of course, he had massive commercial success, not just with
The Cosby Show, but he voiced characters on Malcolm and
Eddie the Magic School Bus. He won a Grammy back
in twenty fifteen and was actually currently hosting a podcast
called Not All Hood. Latest episode dropped just three days ago.
(02:56):
The update. Sources say he died of asphyxia after he
was caught by a high current in the ocean, apparently
rescued by bystanders and then taken to the shore, where
he did receive aid, but was declared dead at the scene.
Fifty four years old, he does leave behind his wife
and the daughter that he was vacationing with.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
It's fifty four and to go, you know, in such
a tragic way.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Like that, that's awful. Another tragic moment for the Royals,
Prince William and Prince Harry have lost a family member.
One of their cousins found dead in England. Rosie Roche
is the grandchild of Princess Diana's uncle, was found dead
at her family home in Norton. According to the Sun,
reportedly discovered by her mom and sister, and there was
(03:42):
a firearm recovered near her body. She was said to
have been packing for an upcoming trip with friends. It
does sound like cops believe Rosie may have taken her
own life. The Sun has found policing the death is
non suspicious, there was no third party involvement. The family
is keeping very mum on this, but according to an Oby,
she was an incredible sister to her two siblings, and
(04:03):
that the entire royal family will have a private funeral
and memorial service. Rosie was only twenties. Other tragic moments.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
That is interesting too that the entire royal family will
have a service for Princess Diana's see this is.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
According to the Sun, and I don't think that that's
going to end up happening. That's I think that's very
tabloid fodder. Finally, the Astronomer CEO brand new CEO mind You,
after Andy Byron stepped down following that viral cold Play video,
has dropped an official statement on the site saying, after
a decade of building the business, they've been tested time
(04:39):
and time again, and they've always come out stronger. Pete
de Joy is the interim CEO, writing, over the past
few years, our business has experienced incredible growth. The events
of the past few days have received a level of
media attention that few companies, let alone startups in our
small corner of the data and AI world. Ever encounter
(05:00):
it has been unusual and surreal, and while I would
never have wished it to happen like this, astronomer is
now a household name. We've never shied away from challenges.
We will come back better and stronger, going on to
thank his team, honestly, kind of sounds like a job interview.
This dude might end up being the CEO for good.
All of you were CELEBSCOO, but West Michigan start.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
OCP stumbling a fine point seven, always looking to start
today just a little bit better. Feeling good right now.
And schmitty, you know who's up early. The fishermen. The
fishermen are up early.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
I drove in behind a kayak fisherman at four to
ten this morning.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
That's dedication, right there they go. And I know another
dedicated fisherman. He calls himself a true fish aholic, and
his name is Cody Carlson from Newport, and he just
got a brand new record from Michigan's largest flat head catfish.
And when I say record new record, this thing is
beefy and way bigger than the previous record holder. Carlson
(05:59):
was out early in the morn hoarding back on June
twenty ninth, this Sunday morning bow fishing. When he hauled
in this massive catfish. He said, I thought I was
about to shoot a channel catfish for dinner. It turns
out I guess we do have flat head catfish in
these waters, he said to the DNR. Check this out.
The new state record holder catfish weighs in at sixty
(06:20):
four and a half pounds and measures forty five inches long.
I love perspective for you. That's about as heavy as
lifting a mini fridge and about as long as your
standard mailbox. The previous record holder almost ten full pounds lighter,
almost twenty percent smaller than this fish at only fifty
three a third pounds back and caught back in twenty
(06:42):
twenty two. Now the Michigan Department Natural Resources of the
DNR certified the new record fish. These things are huge, minty,
and can live up to twenty eight years. And personally,
I think catfish are the grossest looking, nastiest fish in
the waters too. Thinking that you got a sixty pound
fish swimming below you while you're in the rivers over there,
that's a little creepy, I'll.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Be honest, all right. Plumb Creek for fellow fishermen. Yes,
that's where he was at Plumb. Let's get to the
incredible fundraiser that went down the other day in Grand
Rapids thanks to the Mike Sadler Foundation. If you're not aware,
this is such an incredible organization that has so many
beautiful organizations that they help because of the former Michigan
(07:24):
State University Punters legacy. Mike was killed in a car
crash in Wisconsin back in twenty sixteen at just twenty
four years old, and his family decided to use that
to make a difference. Well, organizers say they made a
big difference on Sunday going down to at Water Brewery
here in Grand Rapids. The fundraising goal impacting more than
(07:45):
sixty four hundred students with a variety of different things,
youth programs, the opportunity to carry a legacy of your own.
They do so much and the family knows this is
how Mike would want it to be. Mike's sister Katie
is on the board of directors for the Michael Sadler Foundation.
Wood was unseen.
Speaker 5 (08:06):
Mike lived such a big life in the limited number
of years that he had to be able to continue on.
His legacy is really powerful for us, and so it's
just great to see so many people rallying around the
causes that we've built and the programs that we've made
and his name.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
It's pretty phenomenal, you guys. If you want to learn more,
just look up the Michael Sadler Foundation. They do events
are out the year here in West Michigan, and it
all goes to such a wonderful cause.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
It's the celebrities gup on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Well, it's such tragic news to report this morning. Cosby
shoalum Malcolm Jamal Warner has died in Costa Rica at
the age of fifty four. An investigation is still ongoing,
but according to sources, he died of asphyxia after he
was caught by a high current in the ocean. He
was actually on a family vacation in Costa Rica, dying
(09:00):
as a result of that accidental drowning. Of course, absolutely
owning the eighties as theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show.
That had an amazing career following that. He did cartoon
voices for hit shows Malcolm and Eddie and The Magic
School Bus. He had a Grammy win back in twenty fifteen,
and most recently a project he's been very, very proud
(09:22):
of his podcast Not All Hood, his latest episode dropping
just three days ago, and Hollywood is reeling. This is
Adam Sandler. He was actually at the Happy Gilmour two
premiere last night when found out the news. And Sandler
actually got his start on The Cosby Show.
Speaker 6 (09:41):
Malcolm was so nice to me when I was on
the show and we had such good times together. I
was probably eighteen and Malcolm was probably seventeen sixteen, I
don't know. And we would take walks together, all of us,
and pick.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Up who.
Speaker 6 (09:59):
Talk basketball, hung out on the weekends, put the parties together.
He was so good to me as a person, and
his mom was amazing to and I'm just sending my
love to the family. Malcolm was a true great person, hilarious,
smart kid, and meant a lot to America.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
The Judicial Investigation Agency in Costa Ricus as Malcolm was
rescued by bystanders and taken to the shore, where he
did receive aid, but unfortunately declared dead at the scene,
only fifty four years old. He does leave behind a
wife and a daughter.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
I mean, those rip currents are just such an impossible
thing to predict and just so dangerous wherever you're at.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Oh sad.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Justin Bieber seems to be dropping hints about his alleged
drug use, and even though he's a dad and has
spoken very openly about the difficulties of marriage, it doesn't
look like he's ready to quit. So the singer posting
a clip from an appearance he had on an old
song with DMX, and he specifically used the lines when
(11:07):
you say clean, no weed, no drinking nothing clear, pure
vessel for the voice of God, and then Justin shutting
the whole thing down, saying clean living doesn't mean that's
the only way to be close to God. This is
very interesting considering DMX tragically passed away back in twenty
twenty one. Exactly what kind of message Justin is trying
(11:29):
to convey to fans. We're not really sure. His rep
has said any rumors about him using hard drugs are
completely false, But he posts these kinds of things and
he gets fans really really nervous about his well being.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Yeah, I hope he's doing well. I just know that
in Hollywood a divorce is not an uncommon thing. Now
that you got a kid, all these kinds of posts
and stuff like this, this will come back to a
hot shoe.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
This the Internet is forever, finally, very exciting news, if
it's to be believed, and I think it is. We
talked a lot about these very cryptic Instagram posts between
Stevie Nix and Lindsey Buckingham, sharing them last week, quoting
lyrics from a song that was from the pair's long
out of print album Well guess what It's coming back?
(12:14):
Buckingham Nix the nineteen seventy three album the duo recorded
before joining Fleetwood Mac, appears to be set for a
re release on September nineteenth. Here's the evidence. A couple
of people posted a billboard that popped up in LA yesterday.
It shows the two from that era and simply says
(12:35):
Stevie Nick to Lindsay Buckingham Buckingham Nicks, September nineteenth. This
specific person on X writing this is at seventy three
sixty five Sunset Boulevard. It is not photoshop, It is
not AI or anything else. I saw it with my
own two eyes and then I cried tears of happiness after.
So it sounds like we are going to get this
(12:56):
from the two together September nineteenth. As for a time,
theour which every single post I saw had people blowing
up the comments about, have not heard anything about that yet.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
And the interesting part about it too is, you know,
I don't follow every day to day activity of these two, obviously,
but from what I knew, they weren't all that friendly
for the last several years, Like things were not always
a hunky dory between the two of them at all.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
And that's why it sounds like Lindsay Buckingham has seen
Stevie on a super financially successful tour and might need
a little money himself. But that's just my take on it.
All of your celeb scoop. You can see the billboard
West Michigan.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
Star dot com STONO Fine point seven. It's back in
Schmidty and you know, living in West Michigan, we are
so lucky to be so close. There's so many incredible
spots of water Schmidty. But you say you saw the
wildest thing you have seen on any of them.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Because apparently we're not close enough. So if you are familiar,
when we go out on Lake Michigan with Chris's boat,
we go out of Muskegan, So we go out of
Muskegan Lake, which is really really lovely, and then take
the channel into the Great Lake. It's very similar to
what you'll see at Holland Grand Haven, any of those places.
So you know what a channel looks like, right. It
(14:08):
can be choppy. You've got a ton of boat traffic.
So we are out Friday night and it's power boat
club night, so that's very important to know because there
are tons of power boats going in and out of
the channel and these things are so long people can't
see over the bow.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
These are those massive cigarette styles.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
St kind of like those, yeah, but like a major,
major bow. And apparently driving around Muskegan Lake, so to
get from one side to the other kind of near
the deck takes you maybe forty five minutes to an hour,
which was too much time for a gentleman that jumped
(14:45):
in and swam across the channel. So we're in our
boat headed out to the big lake and Chris goes,
WHOA what was that? I said?
Speaker 6 (14:55):
What?
Speaker 2 (14:55):
He goes, I just saw this huge splash that must
have been like a giant fish. All of a sudden,
a gentleman's head pops up. He has no life jacket,
he has no nothing, He has nothing reflective about himself.
He has no I am absolutely stunned. And Chris goes,
oh my god, it's a guy. I was like, what,
He goes, A guy just jumped off the rocks into
(15:16):
the channel. So Chris immediately goes into like rescue mode.
He's like, hey, man, are you okay? Are you having
like a health condition?
Speaker 6 (15:24):
Dud?
Speaker 2 (15:25):
We Oh man, I'm good, keep going, And I'm like, no,
don't stop, please, I'm fine. So He's got what looks
to be like a floating bag, the only thing he's
holding onto because he's got his phone, his wallet and
a sandwich. And we're driving by. Chris slowed the boat down.
He's like, are you sure, dude? Like there it is
(15:47):
packed tonight, it's a beautiful night. There's traffic back.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Yeah. So I watched this entire thing unfold, and you
can see all of these boasts cannot see this guy.
I'm gonna post the video, you guys. It is just
this teeny tiny head bobbing in the channel water. I go,
I'm about to see I'm about to see a death.
There's no way, none of these boats. Then you see
people notice him and like turning their wheel to get
(16:10):
around him, shouting to boats behind him. And if this
guy does not just what back stroke his way to
the channel and then hop up on the other side
of the rocks, climb out and act like nothing happens.
And I'm just like, I don't know. If we've got
some listeners in Muskegan, is this a regular thing. My
(16:30):
jaw was on the floor and I was so nervous.
I'm like, this guy is gonna get hit. He's gonna
get sucked into a propeller, like none of these boats
know he's there. And it sounds like this dude does
it all the time.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
I mean, honestly, you can't help stupid. Stupid is just
gonna do.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Dude, I know that it's an hour drive, but at
least you're alive. I couldn't. Plus, I don't know. Channels
seem like they might be. Yeah, it's dirty.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Of the lake. Yeah, that's gonna be it. I mean
it's the one we gets the most traffic in the
smallest amount of space.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Yeah, so yep, gentlemen just hopped off the rocks, swam
across a boat ridden channel, and hopped up the other
side with his little floating picnic basket.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Oh to say, you know what, I can't get over
how this dude had a sandwich with him. That just
drives me nuts. How are you gonna get you can't
swim with the sandwich.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
He did it.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
It's the only thing you can't swim with.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
I'm telling you, you don't think it till you see it,
and it is. I don't know if I will ever
see something that beats that. And I just Chris was like, yep,
I guess that's a Friday night.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
He had a foot long resting on his belly as
he was backstroking across the channel playing Frogger between the boats.
That is amazing.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Was stunned. So you beat that you've seen something crazier
on the water. Give us a call four five eight,
one oh five seven. Or maybe it's just me being overprotective. Mom,
And people in miskig And are like, yeah, we swim
the channel all the time.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
I like watching them. Just need to know that watching
those videos where somebody driving the boat decides it's a
good idea to jump back and surf behind the thinking
that they're going to be able to catch up to it,
only for the camera to watch the boat drive away.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
A lot of good decision making there.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Jmitty is so salty. Just gotta let the air out
of the bank. Just needs to vent a little bit
salty Schmidti here on starmino five point. So what's going
on all right?
Speaker 7 (18:15):
Well?
Speaker 2 (18:15):
I told you it is every parent's worst nightmare when
it comes to toys. A toy that can't turn off.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
So my in laws are in town. They came in
on Sunday night and they always bring toys for the kids.
It's really cute. And they brought Sophia something that I
think is the for real toys. So there's a line
of all different animals, and I swear to you it
doesn't have an off button. So this thing is like
a ferbie. It'll eat, it'll make noises. So she got
(18:45):
a puppy, so it'll like bark, it'll pant. And I'm
sitting in the middle of the night last night, Sofia
had a band dream came in with us and she
brought this thing. So at like one am she must
have rolled over and knocked it or something. I got it,
telling you the way that I bolted out of that
bed when I heard, I was like, what is that?
(19:10):
It's her for real pop and I'm taking it middle
of the night, looking for any button on this thing.
Its eyes are blinking, which makes that like plastic sound.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
You're setting off its motion sensors making it wagging.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Yes, my husband gets somebody's like what is going on.
I'm like, it's this for real thing, and Sophia's like,
do you have my pup? The whole dang night this
thing was up. I have no idea. There's I swear
to you. There's no off button. So if somebody has
one of these fur real pets, just message me and
let me know, because I was losing my mind from
like one to three am shitty golfing.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
Honestly, I think every eighties and nineties kids had the
experience of either a Teddy ruckspin or a Furby telling
it I love you in the middle of the night.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
There's nothing creepy, pitch blacke, no thank you, movies.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
Music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Seven Hollywood reacting to the tragic loss of Malcolm Jamal Warner,
the actor best known as theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show,
died in Costa Rica at the age of fifty four.
We have information still coming in. It sounds like the
actor passing away of asphyxia after he was caught by
(20:25):
a high current in the ocean. He was on a
family vacation. The Judicial Investigation Agency in Costa Rica said
Malcolm was rescued by bystanders and then taken to the shore,
where he did receive aid from an area Red Cross,
but declared dead at the scene. This is just so sad.
Besides his years on The Cosby Show, he was a
(20:46):
voice actor for shows like Malcolm and Eddie and The
Magic School Bus. He was a Grammy Award winner, even
hosted a podcast, and the latest episode out just three
days ago. Belcolm was only fifty four. Bill Cosby now
speaking out his rep saying when Bill got the call
that Warner had died on vacation, it reminded him of
(21:07):
being in the studio filming The Cosby Show in January
of nineteen ninety seven when Bill got a call informing
him his son Nus had been shot dead in a
failed robbery attempt. Very emotional for Bill, who had this
to say.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
Malcolm was always embracing.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
Relationships with.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
Everybody he worked with.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Only fifty four, like I said, survived by his wife
and daughter who were on vacation with him. As the
investigation is ongoing, I.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Mean to be there with his daughter. Yeah, something like
that happened. That is just, I mean, an insane tragedy.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
All right, let's get to this Hunter Biden interview, and
I'm going to go ahead and warn you guys. I
tried to take as many of the naughty words out
as I could, and even then still had a few
in there going scorched earth on Democrats, especially actor George Clooney,
who he blames for turning on his father, former President
Biden Hunter sitting down with YouTuber Andrew Callahan, I don't
(22:14):
know who would have ocayed this, but here we go Kim.
Speaker 7 (22:18):
Jim, Jim and everybody around him. Number One, I agree
with Quentin Tarantino. George Clooney is not an actor. He
is a like I don't know what he is. He's
a brand. You what do you have to do with anything?
Why do I have to listen to you? What right
do you have to step on a man who's given
fifty two years of his life to the services of
(22:38):
this country and decide that you, George Clooney, are going
to take out basically a full page ad in the
New York Times.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Like I said, there was about twenty seven more of
those naughty words and just that bit. He also took
aim at James Carville, saying he hasn't won a race
in forty bleeping years. David axelrod Anita done catching his burn?
This was absolute insane. He also said that his dad
was on ambient during that disastrous debate performance against now
(23:07):
President Trump. But he was Wow. Some people are saying
completely unhinged with this interview.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
You know what, it's your dad. If you want to
go out there and defend your dad hardcore, if you
feel he's been wrong. I'm fine with that. I really am. Okay,
I remember an issue with that. I mean, it's your dad.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
I think I'm curious who okayed it, because like this morning,
this is falling real bad, and it's just once again
bringing up all of these things. That's like, I don't
know if your dad maybe wanted this to happen. Finally,
nearly twenty years later, the Cerulean sweater is back. Anyone
who loves the Devil Worst product like I do, understands
(23:49):
that moment. Yes, Anne Hathaway has confirmed filming on The
Devil Worst Prota Tou has officially begun taking to TikTok yesterday,
just showing herself brushing her tea with that very famous
Cerulian blue sweater. You know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
But you don't know is that that sweater is not
just blue.
Speaker 7 (24:08):
It's not turquois, it's not lapus, it's actually Cerulian.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Oh, this is gonna be so good, even better. A
few people were posting pictures from an alleged set and
it had kind of like those warnings. This set is
closed blah blah blah, and under project name it said Cerulian, so.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Yay, as a dude, I still love the Devil Worst Product.
I think that movie's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
All right, all of your CELEBSCU but West Michigan Star
dot com he's done.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
On a fine point. Seeven it's Mack and SCHMIDDI looking
a battle right now, Battle of the Sexies, and it
could get you out to our Alligan County Fair to
see Neo, one of the headliners over there this year.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
This is a perfect end of summer show. It's coming
up beginning to mid September. It's going to be such
a fun night out and we've got your tickets with
Battle of the Sexes. Today's question. One hundred women surveyed
name away to wake a deep.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Sleeper ooh, a feather and a handful of sh saving cream.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Your house must be a very interesting one six, one, six, four, five, eight,
one oh five seven. One hundred women surveyed name away
to wake a deep sleeper collar seven. You've got that
number one answer. You are going to Neo with Star
one oh five point seven.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
Good morning Star. Who's this? Hi? This is Walker Walker.
Where are you coming from today?
Speaker 5 (25:22):
Bud here in Michigan.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
How old are you Walker?
Speaker 5 (25:26):
Twelve years old?
Speaker 1 (25:27):
Twelve years old? Walker? Would you say you're a deep
sleeper or a light sleeper? My man?
Speaker 2 (25:32):
A deep sleeper?
Speaker 1 (25:33):
Deep sleeper? Well, then this one, hopefully will be easy
for you. One hundred women Walker were asked to name
away to wake up a deep sleeper? What do you think?
Their top answer was there, my friend, that classic bucket
a cold water. Yeah, that'll lot. That'll wake you up
for sure, it'll perk you up. And Walker hopefully it
(25:53):
perks you up this morning, buddy, because you're going to
see Neo. My friend, you won Congratulasia. Hey, has anybody
ever poured water on your face while you're sleeping before? Walker?
Speaker 5 (26:05):
No?
Speaker 3 (26:05):
What I want?
Speaker 1 (26:07):
Hey, Mom, go ahead and make that happen for the kid.
Everybody's got to experience it at least once.
Speaker 5 (26:12):
Yeah, I will.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
By the way, it was poor cold water. Then yell
loud noises to shake them and then hit and slap them.
Is that final answer? Let's hope that's your final course
of action too. But Walker, you've got two tickets to
go have some fun at the Alligant County Fair and
you guys are getting a pair of tickets to see Neo.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
You are so welcome, and we'll do it again tomorrow.
Battle of the Sexes every week day eight fifteen here
on Starlino, Fine Point Sex. You know what, sometimes kids
are just gonna hurt themselves in stupid ways. Schmitty happened
for us yesterday as my son Connor, and this makes
me so happy. He has gotten big time into fishing
this summer. Both he and his sister have actually and
(26:54):
he had a buddy over yesterday in about twenty minutes
after they came over, they immediately went down to the
river to go fishing, and about ten minutes after that
they were screaming on their way back.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
Oh that's never good.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
I was actually doing a little car shopping and get
this call from my wife. She is clearly on the
other side of the phone panicking, just panicking, and I'm like,
what's going on? She calls twice. I didn't pick up
the first time, and I'm like, hang on, I gotta
take this callin twice. There's a reason for it. She goes, hey,
Connor's got a fishing hook in his back. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
cast And I'm like, okay, how far in? She goes, Hi,
(27:29):
I no, No, I don't. I've only looked at it
a little bit. I'm just I can't handle it. I'm like,
it's it's just a fishing hook.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
I gotta ask, just a hook, not a lure.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
There's a len there. It was a lure that but
one of the hook pieces of the lure, and it
was a double hook lure, yeah, with three with those
three pronged hooks on it, one prong only in his
back there. And so I'm going, hey, i'll be home
in twenty minutes. I'll leave right now. I'll take care
of this. And she's like, do you think I should
take him to urgent character. I'm like, no, I don't.
(27:57):
I think as long as it's not bleeding and he's
not really in pain, just wait until I get home.
I'll take a look at it. We'll see what goes on.
I get back in my car five minutes later, we're
going to urgent carry size. It hurts. So I got
to urgent care. My wife goes home because she works
from home, and I'm in there with the doc and
I look at this thing and I'm like, dude, I
gotta taken this out nor hawk right so I can
(28:18):
see that. And so luckily we get into the doctor's office.
Don't need to get a tennis shot because he keeps
calling it a surface wound, a surface wound, which is
so great, and I'm like, oh, I could totally handle this.
And I'm like in my head, I'll just put anice
cube on it and I'll take, you know, numb it up,
and then I'll take it out right. So that's basically
what the doctor does. He puts a shot of lightokin
in which my son handled like a champ. Burns a
(28:40):
little bit, but that numbed his back. And then I
watched the doctor take the hook out and you know,
he grabs the flyers and he goes to take it out,
and honestly, when you see somebody tug on somebody's skin
hard enough where they make a face, that was the
only I didn't tell my wife this, by the way,
that was the only moment where I was like, oh,
maybe I don't want to be the one to take
(29:00):
this out. It was so funny. My son though. The
doctor goes, hey, how attached her? We did this T
shirt and it was literally his favorite shirt, a new
baseball shirt that he had just gotten. He looks right
and he goes, save my shirt. Doctor.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Yeah, I think I can beat this because it's crazy.
I just was talking to my friend Ellie about this
like two nights ago. I think she'll be okay if
I share this. She has such a trigger for fishing
because when she was younger, her and her brother were
on a pontoon and he went to cast and the
hook got stuck in her nose and pulled. She had
(29:39):
to go and have all of like she got surgery.
Oh my god, because we offered her fish when she
came over, because if you come to the Schmidti's, you're
gonna go home with vacuum sealed salmon, just so you know.
And she was like, oh my gosh, I can never
again after that. And I thought, anything in your face.
I had a friend of mine at Grand Haven that
stepped on a fishing hook on the pier and still
(29:59):
walked a mile before she realized it was stuck in
her butt.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Check this out. I put it up on Facebook. Katie said,
look at listen to this day. Child number two caught
child number one with a large lure just above the eye.
Urgent Care for removal and stitches. Two hours later, Child
number two uses elbow to open the door, but goes
through the glass. Urgent Care for stitches. Three hours later,
Child number two steps on a pinwheel. Urgent Care for
(30:24):
removal and stitches. They don't give frequent flyer points her
discounts for multiple visits of this.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Okay, who was that?
Speaker 1 (30:30):
That was Katie and Katie that's.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
My mom's are the greatest shit men?
Speaker 1 (30:35):
Again? Tuesday off to a great start for you. It's
feeling good here on seven on five Points's up Smith.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Yeah, we've talked a lot about fish today, so let's
keep it going because this video shows how excited you
can get when you land the catch of a lifetime.
Ask a group of twelve year old friends who were
in Livonia when they reeled in what appears to be
a rare alligator garfish. This is extra rare because this
(31:01):
species is not native to Michigan. It was pretty incredible.
Nathan Wilson, Evan Masher, Max Murphy, and Gideon Martin were
fishing for Bluegill at JC Park in Lavonia when they
hooked something pretty unexpected. In fact, even the DNR was
fairly skeptical until they saw pictures and video and said, yeah, yeah,
(31:23):
that's that's an alligator gar odd did they think that
someone probably released it into the pond after they were
done having it as a pet. The boys don't care.
This is the greatest day of their life.
Speaker 5 (31:35):
I mean it was a crazy atmosphere like Stanley Cup
Final type of stuff.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Probably catch up a lifetime Murphy's line.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
It's so exciting. You've got to see the full interview
with Channel seven West Michigan Star dot Com.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
It's like the Stanley Cup Finals.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Anny Fisherman would know.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
That's awesome. This is just incredible and it's a story
of recovery turned into a brand new world record in
something that so many people participate in, of course, that's running.
Edward Malinu, who is a thirty four year old personal
trainer from Willenhall across the pond there in England, just
did something pretty wild. Listen to how far this man
ran in one year A heavy accent here, so check
(32:14):
this out.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
This is more record and around four hundred and sixty
five off marathons in Monia.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
Four hundred and sixty five half marathons in one year.
That is over six thousand miles. Basically about a quarter
of the way around the Earth is what he's running.
It all took place after COVID, but he got a
hernia so he couldn't compete in more high impact sports
like boxing and things like that. So I started to
run and that turned into an absolute passion where he
(32:43):
was knocking out these half marathons, usually multiple times a day.
As you know, four hundred and sixty five, that's one
hundred more days than there are in a year. So
not only was he sometimes doing two or three back
to back in a day, occasionally he would do as
many as six half marathons in a day as he
would running for this world record. Unbelievable, and he says,
(33:03):
I just love giving inspiration to other people and that
warrior feeling, even being around people doing well. I like
seeing people getting better and going higher. I like showing
people that you can do it through everything and through anything.
And next up, he's actually got one hundred mile ultra
marathon scheduled for this weekend. Yeah, sure, just a breeze, no,
big deal, new world record holder, but pretty incredible and
(33:25):
feeling good. Is always here to share incredible things going
on for you. We'll do it again tomorrow, six forty
five and nine to twenty every weekday on Star Mack
and Schmidty in the morning weekday starting at six am
on Star one oh five point seven
