Speaker 1 (00:04):
Wake up. It gets my day going and makes me lab.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
Mac and Schmitty in the morning on Star one O
five point seven fu, good morning, Schmitty, Hey, good morning,
Welcome into your Monday. And man, another steamy day is
on deak as. I've seen heat advisories coming our way
once again today, kicking off at noon. So high's today
and near ninety two A gonna feel even hotter than that.
So as you wake up this morning at around seventy,
can't complain too much.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
That's in the triple digits, guys, that's what the heat
in nex is telling us with storm teammates. I don't know,
it'll be all right. You find some water, maybe you
know it might be a good time to hit the
coastguard fest today. A little brand Haven action, a little breeze
off the lake, that's never a bad thing.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
I got to spend a ton of time outdoors and
on the water this weekend. But it was in Wisconsin, Schmitty,
And I gotta tell you, I think the mosquitoes do
it different there.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Oh is it bad?
Speaker 1 (00:53):
I have them in all the worst places. I have
one on my elbow, I have one on my ankle bone.
I have one on the end of my ear, and
I have one of my knuckle. The only thing I'm
missing is that one directly behind the kneecap, and I
think I'd hit them all.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
So I know coming out we're going to talk about
the one thing you'd bring camping. Yeah, if you'd ask me,
I could have fixed that problem because I have one
of the greatest you a hack ati mosquito things ever.
We are two years tried and true into this.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
I wasn't shy on the bugs bread. I just think
they eat deep for.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Breakfast and whisk nothing to do with spread acts. Wow,
I'm really excited for that. It's such a good product.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place. It's
the celebrity scoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Well tributes continue to pour in for Hulk Hogan because
we didn't do scoop back on Friday with Christmas, you
missed the news medics call to Hulk's home late Thursday
in Florida video actually coming out showing EMT's frantically performing
chest compressions on the WWE Superstar as they transported him
to the ambulance, where he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
(01:59):
Later on in the day, police providing an update saying
no suspicious activity or foul play was suspected. But it
wasn't until over the weekend that we finally heard from
Hulk's son Nick. Saturday night, he dropped a ton of
photos from all different parts of life over the years
with his dad, and in really unfortunate news, yesterday was
actually nixt birthday, he turned thirty five, and started out
(02:21):
the post by thanking everyone who had reached out with
those well wishes, given the fact that it was such
a hard time writing. My dad was the most incredible
person I've ever known and will always be my hero.
He was the most kind, loving and amazing father anybody
could ask for, and I feel so blessed to have
had the greatest dad in the world. I spent a
lot of time with him the past few years after
(02:43):
moving back to Florida to be closer to him, and
I'm so grateful for those memories. They are the best
moments in my life.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
I mean, professional wrestling isn't the multi billion dollar industry
it is today without haul COVID absolutely.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Meanwhile, Kelly Osborne continues to paid tribute to her late
dad Ozzie. On Saturday, the forty year old cheering a
very touching clip from the A and E series Jack
and Ozzie's World Detour. She said it was one of
her most favorite moments ever, on a road trip with
her dad singing.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Along always Love.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
It's really really sweet. And I bring both of these
stories up because it has really changed the mind of
one Hollywood star, and that is Marcus Jordan, the troubled
son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, who took to his
Insta over the weekend revealing these deaths have given him
a very sobering realization he needs to fix things with
(03:54):
his family because you never know how long you have
with him. He talked about his sobriety also be coming
in question because he had such a hard time with
these passings. Sharing to his instant stories, I really went
through it realizing two icons of my childhood past this week.
So I reached out to both of my parents and
(04:14):
all of my siblings because life is just too short
and it is important to spend time with the people
that you love. Now, his relationship with his dad and
mom has been rocky at best. There were lots of
moments where none of them were on speaking terms with him.
He's had a very tough time with both alcohol and
(04:34):
substance abuse. He's been hit with DUI charges and resisting
arrest as recently as this past February. But it sounds
like it is really turning him around and his family
is so ready for this.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
That's really good news. Most of us learned that lesson
the hard way lately. Yeah, when we lose somebody that
were really close to that we didn't get to patch
things up with. So when you can learn it from
somebody else, that's an important.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Yeah, all of your celebscoop at West Michigan start ac.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Let's dive in here, Schmitty, hoping you had a great weekend,
but feeling good right now in Starwin O five point
step and looking to push your Monday into the right way.
This is pretty wild up on Mackinaw Island. A tourist
is alive thanks to teamwork and the initiative of a
teenage boy scout from right here in West Michigan, a
low old native, fourteen year old Kenny Recourt. Well, he's
(05:21):
a boy scout who was up there doing the Scout
Honor Guard in Mackinaw Island. He's got to give directions,
answer questions, raise the flags each day. And just like
so many other things, the boy Scouts do schmitty, you know,
they're standing up the whole time.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Fort Mcinaw, you know it.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Yeah, they don't sit down well. Near the end of
one of those three hour shifts there at Fort Mcanaw,
he was alerted to a man who had unexpectedly collapsed
with a heart attack. But lucky for that man, Kenny
moved without hesitation. He had lerned more people. He made
sure somebody called nine one one immediately asked where the
nearest automated external defibrillator, those AED devices that save so
(05:59):
many lives. I took off, running up and down the
hill to find that ad with his scout leader. Despite
having exercised induced asthma, he understood the moment was so big.
As he explained to Fox, or explained to would TV
eight excuse me, that he knew that time was the
most important factor.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
I felt my training kick in and I remembered that
during a heart attack, time is the most important factor.
And when I saw him like game though I was
really starting to hurt, I knew I'm like, he's dying
and I need to get there, so I use the
rest of my energy to go up the hill.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Yeah, even though he is, like I said, exercise induced
asthma was kicking in big time. He got it it
out and got up and down the hill, came back
with that AED. Thankfully there was an off duty nurse
who was performing CPR, and the man wound up never
needing the shock. But those rescuers that were responded to
the nine one one call got there in time, and
(06:54):
the man is going to be able to make a
full recovery, in large part due to the quick actions
of this young boy scout who was following on the
footsteps of his dad, Ken, who was an eagle scout.
You know, the Scout model is to be prepared, so
Kenny was prepared and part of the Scout law. The
third point of the Scout law.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Is the scout is helpful. So he was able to be.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Helpful, extremely helpful and definitely prepared, making dad proud for shore.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
All right, let's talk about when a big old star
shows up at your neighborhood lemonade stand. It's going to
be for a big deal, right, Pete Crow Armstrong, better
known to Chicago Cubs fans as PCA, one of the
most popular players in the MLB today. But when he
found out that one young fan wanted the PCA haircut,
(07:42):
his parents being parents that they are so listen, you
can totally get the PCA haircut, which is blonde with
blue stars etched into it, but you gotta pay for
it yourself. So of course, what did he do. He
started up a lemonade stand, and that's when PCA discovered
this little gem in a neighborhood right near red Field
and him his girlfriend Haley stopped by. This is a
(08:03):
report from on the field during a Cups game last week.
So Pete and his girlfriend Haley stopped by and they.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
Ended up buying lemonade, asking the kids, how much more
money do you need in order to achieve the goal
to be able to get hair like PCA. They told
him the number and PCA fulfilled that amount, so really
really stuffing moment.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Oh yeah, bought out the whole lemonade stand so they
could get the PCA haircut. Here's that moment for the kids.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
I like, you are doing crazy.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
I love the dad in the background. That's as good
as it gets guys, pretty cool stuff. PCA is just
so well known for pulling stunts like this and being
a good dude. So the video's pretty fabulous. It's up
on our Instagram at West Michigan Stars.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place. It's
the celebrities gooop on Star one five point seven.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
All right, now, I wish that I had been an
irresponsible adulting just booked a flight to Vegas because fans
were treated to such a surprise Saturday night for the
very last Cowboy Quarter tour stop for Beyonce, which turned
into a Destiny's Child reunion, the iconic girl group reuniting
on stage at Allegiance Stadium, capping off Bay's massive tour.
Speaker 6 (09:25):
It was so good.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Oh and they had coordinating gold outfits. It was just
so perfect, not just Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams hopping
on stage, but Jay Z oh my gosh, and the
(09:59):
star at this final stop, Chris Jenner, Chloe Kardashian, Tyler,
Perry Oprah. It was quite an evening.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
I mean, that's about the coolest thing that could happen
at a Beyonce concert, right, Like, if you have been
a fan since day one. Yeah, right, Like, there is
nothing cooler that could come at the end of a concert.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Because we haven't seen them together since her twenty eighteen
Coachella set, which she surprised fans on stage. That was
pretty sweet. Fans are very very interested in exactly what
Diddy has meant with a now deleted ex post from
over the weekend. This is very interesting. He has not
posted on the elon Musk platform an a very very
(10:41):
long time, but Friday night his verified account popped up
with just that shady side eye emoji. It wasn't up
for very long before it was deleted. Now, some fans
were hypothesizing that maybe he's teasing new music, but others
claimed that he is hinting at some personal knowledge of
(11:03):
the FEDS meeting with Gallaine Maxwell, that very infamous former
partner of Jeffrey Epstein. And that's very interesting because, according
to Maxwell's attorneys, she sat down Thursday and Friday with
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, where they've confirmed she answered
(11:23):
questions about more than a hundred people linked to Epstein
and his trafficking. They say that she has reportedly received
limited immunity due to this conversation. Gallin's lawyer reportedly telling
journalists she fielded questions about absolutely everything for over one
hundred people. This went down in Florida. Now what happens next,
(11:48):
not really sure. It has not been publicized about what
was talked about, what questions were asked. But Gallaine's lawyers say, quote,
the truth will come out about what happened with mister
Epstein and so much more.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
And we alluded to all of this from a side
eye glance of Diddy.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Well, all this stuff from the attorney is legit. But
a lot of fans are wondering if Ditty's weird Friday
night tweet had this to do with because that would
have been just as she had wrapped up her interview
with the Feds. Finally, the rumor that Phil Collins is
in hospice care is untrue. A rep for the Genesis
Drummer says he is currently in the hospital, but it's
(12:27):
for knee surgery and nothing close to death. The rumor
spreading like wildfire over the weekend, even leading fans to
share their devastation at the thought of losing him, especially
given all the iconic celebrities we lost last week. It's
known Phil's not really in the best of health. He
has been talking about not really doing music anymore. He
did that farewell show with Genesis back in twenty twenty two.
(12:50):
His mobility is pretty bad, but according to reps, this
is not a deathbed situation, and hospice has not even
been talked about. So bash the rumors. Phil's doing as
well as you can be.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
And certainly wishing them well. But at the same time,
the guy his looks so bad for so long now
there is zero chance that he can go to the
hospital without people go at this.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
Is oh, all right, all of your CELEBSCU but West
Michigan Star.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
Dot Ham, good morning to you. It's back and SCHMITTI
and you send your in laws just took off, schmitdi.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Yeah they are gone. They just spent the last week
with us.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
A week. Yeah, with your in laws in the house. My, my, my,
aren't you a saint? For sure? That's a long time
for anybody to be in your home.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
Well, I want to talk about them getting here, So
let's talk about the flight fails. Because wow, let's go
back to last weekend, because you noticed I drove the
station vehicle in at the beginning of the week and
I said, it's because my in laws needed my car.
This is why. So they were supposed to fly in
last weekend Saturday, Orlando to Grand Rapids direct flight, and
(13:52):
then they were going to grab a rental car and
go up north to Gaylor to spend a couple of
days with my brother and sister in law before coming
back here to spend the week with us. Right, So,
they were supposed to fly out Saturday morning nine am,
land in Grand Rapids noon oneish. Fabulous. So we get
a call at ten they've missed their flight. And it's
(14:13):
tough because it's one of those bunget airlines, so they
don't really have customer service you can talk to. They're
not going to rebook you, like, it's just not happening.
So they missed their first flight. They're super super upset
about it, really upset. May have taken that out on
the gate agent a little bit, so that's one does.
So that was something. It's like, let's calm it down.
So they go with a different airline. They're like, you
(14:34):
know what, we're just going to rebook. We really want
to see you guys. This is their only trip up
here this year. They only do one a year. So
they book a second flight. The gate agent gives them
the wrong gait, so they miss that flight.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
No way, oh weird.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
This is just beginning, Mac, This is just beginning. So
now so two flights down. We have now been waiting
at our house. We have canceled plans, we've canceled the
rental car. We have been waiting for like nine hours.
So they're really upset. They're like, the wrong, wrong gate.
When they figure out where they're supposed to go, the
person's like, your flight just left. So they're like, we're done,
(15:07):
we're not coming sorry.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
Oh yeah, we got so.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Then Saturday night they get back to their place. They
live an hour and a half from this airport. They
call them down a bit. They give us a call
super late Saturday night. Listen, we're gonna rebook, Americans said,
because the agent gave us the wrong gate. They're going
to rebook the flight, no extra cost. Cool, We're gonna
fly out tomorrow morning. We've got a flight or a
Lando to Chicago to Grand Rapids. Fantastic. So we wake
up Sunday morning, they get to the airport. They are
(15:34):
at the correct gate. Because by this point my husband
has opened an app to follow what they're doing to
make sure they're at the right spot. They get on
the plane, fantastic. They give us a call a few
hours later. They're in Washington, d C. I still don't
know how they got there.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Were supposed to go.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
To Chicago, so I'm still not sure how that happened.
So my husband is like, okay, swhere, why are you
in DC? Well, we don't know, but it was so
beautiful coming in. We got to see the Washington Monument. Okay,
where is the next gate? Well, the gate changed. We're
looking for it. Okay, you need to find a gate
that has Grand Rapids, Michigan on the screen. Hour goes by,
(16:11):
they call back. We think we got it. The screen
says Grand Rapids. Okay, they're sending you to Grand Rapids. Yes, delayed, delayed.
Finally leave. They do end up in Grand Rapids Sunday night,
six pm. We go to pick them up. Well, their
luggage has been sitting at the airport since Saturday morning,
no kidd, So they go to pick it up and
(16:32):
find out that the budget airline they originally were supposed
to fly only had one flight coming into Grand Rapids
that night. So they're like, well, we don't open all day.
You have to wait until that flight comes, and we're
not opening for another two hours. So we go back
to our house and hang for two hours before we
drive them back to the airport to get their luggage
for them to then go up and only spend one day.
So they were very, very annoyed with traveling.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Until the end of time.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
So then it's this upcoming this past weekend and they're
going to fly out on Saturday, and we are so
keyed in on this. Chris has the app. He's like, Okay,
here's your here's your time, here's when we're gonna leave
for the airport. We're not missing anything. And they're very nervous, obviously.
So we're sitting out on the deck Saturday afternoon and
all of a sudden, Chris looks at his phone and
(17:17):
he goes, oh my god. I was like what. He goes,
they just pushed your flight up an hour and a half.
Absolute chaos. They're throwing things into the suitcase. I'm grabbing
the stuff. We're shoving it into Chris's trucks like lot,
and he goes, well, they were supposed to take off
at six twenty, and now they're telling me. It's four fifteen, Mike,
and it is currently three oh five at our house.
(17:39):
We're a forty minute drive to the air Jesus A
great question, Max, because they all pop into the truck,
they speak. Chris is driving like a bat out of
h double hockey sticks to get him there. He gets
in there, We're all fine. He gets back home, He's like,
I think they're gonna make it. And then he sits
down and his chairy opens his app and he goes,
(18:00):
oh no, I go what he goes, Yeah, I was
looking at arrivals, not departures. They definitely have a four
hour wait at that airport. And I shot it was
the cherry on top. And I just looked at him
and I gave a long pause, and I said, Babe,
is there a possibility that poor travel skills are hereditary
in your family?
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Your husband does not like to fly, right? Is that
something about him?
Speaker 4 (18:23):
Because not really.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Minds it stressful with all the things that are needed.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Can't imagine why.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Yeah, looking at arrivals, not departures. So they did make
their flight because they sat in the airport for four hours.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
Honestly, you know what I was thinking during this whole
tale of woe that is going on. That's that's terrible,
It's absolutely awful. But all I could think about was
how annoying it had to be to hang out with
them for a week, because it would be all I
could talk about. I wouldn't be able to talk about
this single other thing than that traveled nightmare that had
just happened to me. And then you got to the
end of it, and I'm like, you know where it's worse.
The people who have to sit next to him finally
(18:55):
on this flane.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Oh, you guys wouldn't belave what it took us to
get here. Yeah, God, quite a. There you go. It was.
I still have not fully wrapped my head around it.
We just all slept yesterday.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Look, if you didn't want your in laws to come
and stay with you for a week, you didn't have
to organize this gigantic Here's what.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
The deal gives my hack. If you want to get
rid of them early, just say the flight's been pushed up.
Because I don't think they actually can do that, They
just push it up. Chris had no idea what he
was looking at. Here are the facts with human Torch
was denied a bankloa.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
There's a lot of serious news that happens out there
in the world. This is not the place you're gonna
find it. It's the week's best.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
I mean, it's pretty serious if you were really hanging
your hopes on this romance. Nintendo has officially confirmed Mario
and Princess Peach are just really good friends. Yeah, sharing
it via their app over the weekend, they said, listen,
the two are simply working together to help each other
out whenever they hand.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Mario is still on the market, y'all. He sounds like
he got friend zoned into meish Man goodbye. Woman moves
into retirement home at thirty eight, Yes.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
Who is? This is exactly what I want to do.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Forty eight year old from Melbourne, Australia left her taxing
AND's job an expensive living situation to move into her
aunt's retirement village a year ago. It only costs her
three hundred and twenty five dollars per month compared to
an average rent in her area over two thousand dollars,
and she now sees it at her permanent home.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
I bet she gets a meal card, a golf car.
It's like college for those of us that never wanted
to leave.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Good Bye.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
A Florida man Shock Shock arrested after trooper's say he
drunkenly drove a lawnmower down an expressway. Florida Highway patrol
said a thirty eight year old Christopher Spain was I
don't know how you ride a lot more erratically? How
fast are they able to go? But he was, yeah,
showed clear signs of impairment and was arrested for a DUI.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
I mean, honestly, I thought that was allowed in Florida.
I was pretty sure riding your lawnmower at all times
was definitely something you could do. Shirtless man Chug Tabasco
sauce challenged people to fight?
Speaker 3 (21:13):
Where was this?
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Also sounds like Florida? This was actually in Sparks, Nevada.
But I'll be honest, I felt like the headline was
a little redundant because if I'd have just said man
chug Tabasco sauce challenge people to fight, would you not
have assumed that his shirt was off all this was happening? Really?
Speaker 3 (21:28):
How's this for some wake up calls? A miniature therapy
horse named Black Pearl plays the keyboard to wake kids
up from anesthesia. What'd be terrifying. They already warn you
as apparently, like, hey, your kids might be a little
groggy or be a little nervous, and then you bring
a mini horse in to play a keyboard.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
No, you're not hallucinating. This truly is happening right now.
Google ordered to pay naked Argentinian in his yard. I
don't know if you guys saw this head lines, but
an unidentified man was captured on Google's street view while
he was lounging nude in his yard. Google had to
pay him twelve five hundred dollars for the breach in privacy.
(22:11):
All I know is that all the time I spent
butt naked in my front yards, MIDI is about to
pay off. That's this week's best headlines. You see any
great ones out there? Always said them our way, that's
West Michigan Star, it's the celebrity scoop on Star one
oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Well, this is the story that's just not gonna die. Astronomer.
Of course, the company caught in the middle of that
Coldplay kiss cam cheating scandal when their CEO was spotted
hooking up with his chief people officer. Well, now the
data ops company has hired none other than Gwyneth Paltrow
to be their spokesperson.
Speaker 7 (22:47):
Kristin stro thank you for your interest in Astronomer. Hi,
I'm Gwyneth Paltrow. I've been hired on a very temporary
basis to speak on behalf of the three hundred plus
employees at Astronomer. Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions
over the last few days, and they wanted me to
answer the most common ones. Yes, Astronomer is the best
(23:11):
place to run apatche airflow, unifying the experience of running
data mL and AI pipelines at scale.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Yeah, obviously not the question that was being asked at
that moment. It is brilliant. I've seen a lot of
people thinking that this is AI. By the way, it's not.
Gwyneth filmed the video last week and it's hysterical.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Honestly, playing into this entire thing is the smartest business
move I've seen it a long time. I feel like.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Justin Timberlake's world tour continues to be marked with problems.
This time he's got fans ticked off that he's not
even singing. So this is a video from his tour
stop in Romania over the weekend. He starts out the
song and then just holds the microphone out to the
audience for almost the entire rest of the song. And
(24:05):
he's done this and lots of different stops. There's videos
from Dublin where he's seen not singing. At one point
he just sets the microphone down on the stage and
kind of bops around a little bit, not just in
Timberlake dancing, just kind of moving his shoulders while the
fans continue singing. People are asking for refunds. They're saying
this is not okay. One person writing it's embarrassing. He's
(24:28):
basically just invited us to a karaoke show. He knows
he's lost it and really wants it back. But this
ain't it rough? Why don't you just lip sing to
like every other popstar? That's weak? Yeah. Finally, Taylor Swift
has apparently filmed a top secret music video and fans
are over the moon. So this went down back on Thursday,
(24:51):
so top secret that even the crew were told they
could not see or hear what she was singing. So
this is all top secret. Nobody was really allowed in
save for getting to hear the beat, which some crew
members say had kind of a nineteen seventies pop feel
to it. Swifties are obviously over the moon. They think
(25:12):
that this is the first kind of marketing move for
her new studio album. This would be her twelfth studio album.
They think it is going to be called TS twelve
and get this. They think it's going to drop next month.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
I'm sorry, but she's dropping an album at the start
of the NFL football season.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
Schminish, Come, it's.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
Got tied nowt Travis? Is that camp? All right? All
of your celebscu but West Michigan Star dot Com.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
Stud Battle of the Sexiest Time here on start one
five point seven Mac and Spinning in the Morning. Are
not going to get you over to our Frederick Meyer
Gardens and Sculpture Park. That's the best sculpture park in America.
Three years in a row. Yeah, that's all just always
a blast. We want to get you there with four
tickets with the family. They give you the top answer
to today's Battle of the Sexiest question. One hundred women were asked,
(25:53):
tell me the age when someone should start saving for
their retirement? Morning Star? Who's this?
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Dan?
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Sorry? What you're doing? Dan?
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Dan?
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Where are you calling from today?
Speaker 5 (26:05):
Sir?
Speaker 3 (26:06):
Grain rap?
Speaker 1 (26:07):
All right, Dan gotta tell me one hundred women ras
tell me the age when someone should start saving for retirement.
What do you think their top answer was there, Dan, sixteen.
I'll give you. I'm gonna give you a chance to
change that because it does end in a zero or
a five. Twenty. Just gonna go ahead and round up
(26:27):
to twenty. What time do you would you say you
started saving for retirement? Dan, Not soon enough. I was
gonna say, you're like, the answer is let me. I'll
let you know when I start. Twenty though, would have
been a great age to do it, Dan, that's the
top answer something.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
Congratulations, Thank you.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
I thought people were gonna be guessing at this for
a while, but yeah, it was twenty, followed by thirty,
then twenty five and thirty five, rounding out those top answers.
The real answer, though, is ten. If you could start
saving at ten, you might be able to retire someday.
Otherwise we'll see y all. We'll all be greeters over
at myer at the end of our days. However, congratulations, Dan,
(27:05):
You're gonna go check out the Frederick Meyer Gardens and
Sculpture Park with the family. Got four tickets for you. Awesome,
Thank you. You are so welcome Steminal five points seven.
It's back and Schmidti hoping that you had a fantastic weekend.
I did. My family and I we went to Wisconsin
to a jelly stone over in oddly enough Caledonia, Wisconsin
(27:26):
nice not to be confused, literally directly across the lake
basically from Caledonia, Michigan. But Schmitty, I gotta know what
you are always bringing with you camping. You're never gonna
forget it again. It's and I'm not talking tense or
food or any of the obvious stuff. The thing that
makes the difference for you.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
You brought your seapap.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
I did bring my seapap, Smitty, but it does involve
my seapap. Oh, So I brought a big battery pack.
I've got this like heavy duty thing specifically for my
seapap that I bought because this thing will last like
three four days before it needs to be charged up again,
and I was at one hundred percent. I brought this
thing in there, and I'm pretty self conscious about it
(28:03):
because I sound like a like I'm drowning in the air.
When it's happening, I sound like a dying animal.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
And it's loud, and everyone around you is going to
change campsite.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
And we are all literally tense, like five feet away
from each other. The night the first night we're there,
Friday night, I'm on my seapap, silent as a mouse.
My older brother is storied and takes tons of crap
for it. In the morning, bunch of people making jokes.
I thought there was a bear, blah blah blah. My
wife had kicked me all these times. So flash forward
is Saturday night, Smitty, my daughter went back to our tents,
(28:35):
got in there, started watching a movie on her iPad.
Her iPad dies, she plugs it into my charger. That
thing ate the battery between that and using a phone
as a hot spot. So hardcore did I get back
into the tent. I had had a few pops, obviously,
as we're camping on, you know, around a fire late
at night, and I get in there, Schmitty into my
tent and I plugged that bad boy in and I
(28:56):
don't even look at it. But at three o'clock in
the morning, all of a sudden, the dead battery buzzer
is going off. So the first thing people hear is
a at three am. I turned that off real quick
and try instantly fall asleep.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
I hear the worst sound.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
Dude. My wife kicks me. Five seconds later, it's like, dude, yeah,
you have to stop. I had to sleep in the car.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
I was just going to say to they move you
to the car myself.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
I was so self conscious about it. I had to
go to the car.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
Multiple batteries is what you're bringing.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
Going to be the energizer bunny of sea pat battery Schmitty.
I will not dipped off into the woods without having
something that will make it not sound like a bear
is murdering a live animal.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Friend's husband brings a six pack. A six pack, got
six different batteries because he's like, I will not have
my seapap go off. Okay, really quick, you guys, I
want to get to my hat. The spartan mosquito eradicator.
All right, at the beginning of the show, I told
you that I have a tried and true product. This
is a long tube. It's orange or black. You hang
it from trees and it cuts down your mosquito population
(30:01):
by up to ninety five percent. We have these lake
hanging in our woods. We have them kind of you
want them away from where you're sitting or hanging out
because it pulls the mosquitoes in. But I'm telling you, guys,
two summers in our lives have been changed. They're everywhere.
They're Amazon, I'm sure they're at Hardware Story. They're incredible.
My old neighbor gave us this idea because he uses
(30:23):
it at the lake standing Water and they do not
have mosquito problems.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
Okay, you knew I was going camping. You withheld this
information for me. I have forty seven mosquito by all
over my body realms.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
But there you go, the mosquito eradicator.
Speaker 6 (30:37):
Y'all.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
All right, it's Monday. We can all use that little
extra push that we're here to provide. Feeling good right
now on Star it's back and schmitty, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (30:45):
Well, I've got to give a big shout out because
it was quite a weekend for the hundreds that took
part in the Make a Wish Wish a mile. If
you have not had the experience to see what these
bicyclists do to raise money for the incredible Make a
Wish Michigan, it's pretty powerful stuff. Three days you bike
(31:05):
three hundred miles and I want to give a very
special shout out to a couple friends of mine. A
wonderful friend Ellie, who is part of Make a Wish Michigan,
who spent the last three days volunteering, cooking, making sure
that stops were all set around the state of Michigan.
And to our very own Dawn Baker. She helps us
out through show Span with things like our Auto show
(31:28):
and our Grand Rapids International Wine, Beer and Food Festival.
They had a very personal experience with a family member
that had one of their wishes granted, and she hopped
on a bike for her very first time to do
Wish a Mile this weekend, three days, three hundred miles,
and she shared a really cool moment on her Facebook saying,
lunch stop brought an introduction to a young man who
(31:50):
got his wish to be a police officer. And a
big thank you to the police officers who ride along
with us for additional safety and security on the roads.
This little nugget is dressed head to toe as an officer.
A big bank you again to law enforcement being a
part of this, but to every single person that took
part and Wish a Mile this weekend, thank you so much.
(32:11):
It is such an incredible way to raise money for
these kids across our state that want nothing more than
to feel like every other kid.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
Yeah, really cool stuff.
Speaker 1 (32:21):
I mean, and Make a Wish does so many incredible things.
As you said that supporting them. Always sign me up
for That's cool, all right? J Mandy. Last week, a
ninety five year old woman, this is a wild story
out of Santee, California, attacked by a swarm of bees. Yeah,
ninety five year old woman. She was napping outside of
her home. Next thing you know her, she is being
(32:42):
just covered in all of these bees. Her name was
wan Nita, and her family had just discovered the beehive
while they were taking out the trash. By the time
they realized she was still outside and getting attacked, she
was literally covered with them.
Speaker 6 (32:53):
Well.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
During this scene, randomly Destado San Rourke, he's a plumber
from Happy Plumb, was just driving by. Plumber just driving
by and sees a ninety five year old woman running
and getting attacked by a swarm of bees. As much
as a ninety five year old woman can run. Well,
he grabbed her just as she was falling to the pavement,
(33:16):
grabbed her head just before hitting dragged her to safety,
then goes to his truck, gets out a fire extinguisher,
sprays off the bees as he himself was getting stung
twenty to thirty times. And if this whole thing sounds insane,
get this. Emergency responders from the fire department arrive in
a helicopter and use the wind from the aircraft to
(33:38):
drive away the bees. So there is a plumber with
a fire extinguisher, a ninety five year old woman being attacked,
and a helicopter over above above trying to just get
a hold of the situation. She wound up having to
be taken into the hospital for an extreme emergent or
excuse me, allergic reaction. But is going to be okay
(33:59):
all because this plumber who just happened to be driving
by came in for the rescue.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
Yeah, thankfully.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
I mean he talked to his local news and just
you can hear just how wild this whole scene was,
even for him.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
I knew that's somebody's grandma, and like kind kind of
flashback of my grandma, and I knew, I just you know,
how to do something about it.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
Hey, somebody's grandma, right, got a savor, But what a
wild scene?
Speaker 5 (34:23):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (34:23):
Feeling good coming at you a couple times a day,
always here to share something incredible going on out there
with you. We'll do it again for you tomorrow, six
forty five and nine twenty here on Star Mack and
Schmidty in the morning weekday, starting at six am on
Star one oh five point seven
