Speaker 1 (00:07):
It gets my day going and makes me laugh.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Mac and Schmitty in the morning on Star one O
five point seven. Good morning, Schmitty, Good morning. Welcome into
your Tuesday. Here we go. How did day one of
Campscolle for you yesterday?

Speaker 4 (00:21):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Good, fantastic. Everybody came home happy as clam. My son
had his first day at football camp. And you know
how in the winter we always talk about how you
got to fight your kids sometimes to wear their coat
and it's way too cold outside. My son's doing this
thing where he just thinks, every day is hoodie and
shorts day, even when it's eighty degrees outside, and he's.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Going, well, yesterday was hoodie and shorts day.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
You think, oh yeah, But earlier in the day I
felt like it was warm and hotter. It really cooled
off after that kind of weather moved through.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Honey. I'm in my thirties and I got poor circulation.
It's hoodie shorts day for me every day, am I right?

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Ladies? All right, fair enough, I'll put my say, my
ten year old son in the same category. Is all
of the lay out there.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
I'm gonna feel that way today too. We're barely hitting
seventy you guys, So I don't know, if you're looking
for something to do with the kids, I would maybe
plan on a Tuesday night bonfire because that's the kind
of feels we're going to have today.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Man, he can smell that. Just just saying the word
bonfire has me smelling that.

Speaker 5 (01:15):
This morning, movies, music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven. Wow.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Loss of an absolute music legend. Yesterday, Sly Stone, frontman
for funk fans Sly in the Family Stone passing away
at the age of eighty two, His family releasing a
statement saying he died in LA from COPD and other
health issues, passing away peacefully surrounded by his three kids,
his closest friend, and some extended family. They say that

(01:47):
taking solace and knowing his extraordinary musical legacy will continue
to resonate and inspire for generations to come. The family
went on sly was a monumental figure, a groundbreaking innovator
and a true pioneer who redefined the landscape of pop,
funk and rock music. His iconic songs have left an

(02:08):
indelible mark on the world and his influence remains undeniable.
This could be really cool. Sly actually finished a screenplay
about his life story before he passed. It followed his
book that came out last year, Thank You, a Memoir.
So I'm not sure when maybe that might be made

(02:28):
into a movie or come out, but no doubt it's
going to be absolutely phenomenal to watch that career unfold.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Yeah, and how cool is it that you know you've
got to be a part of it, you know, before
passing the way, so that you know your take on it,
your touch is going to be present in that thing
to honor you.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
So sly Stone dead at eighty two. This morning, Amanda
Ceifreid is calling out Paramount for allegedly making bank on
Mean Girls merch and she has not really seen a
scent of it. So she's sitting down with actor Adam
Brody for Variety Magazines Actors on Actors segment, and Brody

(03:04):
asked if she rewatches the two thousand and four cult classic.
I love it.

Speaker 6 (03:10):
I really love seeing my face on people's T shirts.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Oh my god.

Speaker 6 (03:14):
I mean I'm a little resentful because Paramount still owes
me some money, but I or the T shirts for
the likeness of the like every store sells Mean Girls
t shirts with our faces on photographs, And I'm like,
don't I was is because I was seventeen and dumb?
Or is it just that like you you know what
I mean? But I just I love I love it.

(03:35):
Like even the girl tsa Mean Girls my favorite movie,
and I'm like.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Great, she loves the movie, she loves the fans, but
she's less than impressed with how much Paramount has profited
off of this and kind of made it sound like
none of the other actresses have seen much money from that.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
You know, if Fetch ever happens, I'm sure she'll get
a lot of money.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
And finally, Brad Pitt has decided to launch an exciting
new side hustle. He is adding to his clothing line.
So the actor actually launched his own clothing company called
God's True Cashmere a few years ago, and now he's
teaming up with designer and spiritual healer sop Hari for
a new line of linen clothing. He's calling it the

(04:17):
Elicion Collection. He says it's a unisex range made from
biodegradable linen. It'll be vibrant, exciting and introduces a fresh
dimension to what we're doing. Linen seems like the obvious
progression of the brand. Adding natural fibers with properties and
textures we enjoy seems to be really channeling his ex

(04:38):
Gwyneth Paltro with this one question.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Will we move on from our after oh my gosh,
from our leisure wear obsession and get into linen wearing?
Would you like, oh my gosh, I get so much linen.
I get too many grease.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Linen. And you know why you want to sell me
some brad Pitt linen. I will one hundred perc. Thank
give you my paycheck. I got all those details with
your scoop at West Michigan Star dot com.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
It's selling on five points. Steff, good morning to you.
It's Mac and Chetti out here trying to make it
a little bit better. Feeling good right now. And this
is just a wild story coming out of Georgia's Schmidty.
As a gentleman heard first of all, a woman screaming
bloody murderer tried to come around when he was at
a gas station in Marietta, Georgia, and that's when he

(05:24):
described to Atlanta News. First he saw a woman being
attacked in an attempted car jacket.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
When we got a clear view, this guy was hovering
over this lady at that point, beating on her right
outside the gas station. The lady's cardor was open, and
so I took off running just without hesitation, just ran
across as five lanes of traffic there, ran across the road,

(05:50):
told him to get off of her, and basically tackled it.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Basically tackled the guy who gets up and then runs off.
What does he go and do?

Speaker 6 (06:01):
Well?

Speaker 3 (06:01):
That guy went and fled and then tried to carjack
another vehicle, this time with two adults and a toddler
on the inside. Meanwhile, Gary Edwards, his wife has caught
up with him and handed him his legally licensed firearm.
He chased down this guy again and then held him
at gunpoint until police arrived. Officers arrested the man, booked

(06:22):
him to jail, charged him with all sorts of things robbery,
child cruelty and more. Meanwhile, his wife praised him, saying
that you know, she's not surprised that he went and
did this, but the police are saying that was incredible.
But everybody, you don't need to do this. He did
everything right in this moment, and for that we certainly
commend everything that he did cautiously. Again, we don't want

(06:44):
the public to assume that's what we're asking of them.
I mean I saw the story Schmidi, and I could
only think that this gentleman should be known as one
thing man. I mean, give you a break.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
All right.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
This is definitely a pure Michigan moment, because where else
are you going to see a cube pup and a
deer having a playdate. Dog owner Antoinette Smith that lives
in West Michigan said the deer somehow got into her
yard through loose fencing, but she didn't notice it. That
was until she let out her dog, Lola and noticed

(07:16):
Lola was extra excited.

Speaker 7 (07:19):
Lola just don't know nothing but playing.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Oh my goodness, this is crazy. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
The two had about a fifteen twenty minute playdate, chasing
each other around. It looks like they're playing tag, rumbling
around in the grass. And then suddenly the deer just
got back through the fence and what about its day?
The video is everywhere today. I've got to post it
up on our Facebook at West Michigan's Dog.

Speaker 5 (07:47):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Well, it was a bombshell. Yesterday actor and director Justin
Baldoni losing big in his legal war with Blake Lively,
Ryan Reynolds and The New York Times over the movie
It Ends with Us. All of his claims against them
were dismissed yesterday, a judge throwing out the lawsuits filed
by Baldoni and his Wayfair production company, according to legal docs,

(08:19):
dealing a huge blow to the camp. Justin and Wayfair
were suing Blake and Ryan for four hundred million andsuing
The New York Times for two hundred and fifty million,
alleging defamation over an article about all the drama on
the movie set, a story Baldoni alleged was part of
a smear campaign against him. Now, Blake's claims against Justin

(08:41):
are still intact. However, Baldoni has filed a motion to
dismiss those as well, but the judge hasn't ruled yet,
so we may see those thrown out too. The judge
basing his opinion on the finding that Lively had included
her allegations in a civil rights complaint and therefore could
not be held liable for the claims, and that the
Times fairly relied upon that complaint as the basis of

(09:04):
their story. Baldoni had said they cherry picked text messages
and things like that. The judge ruled that the Times
reviewed the available evidence and reported, maybe in a dramatized manner,
what it believed to have happened, and there was no
obvious motive to favor Lively's version of events. As for
that lawsuit against Reynolds, they said they had no reason

(09:26):
to believe that actually half. The judge said that comment
could not form the basis of a defamation claim. Now,
Blake's lawyers were quick on the story, calling the opinion
a total victory and a complete vindication for Lively, saying
that this entire thing was a retaliatory lawsuit.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
I mean, I think it was a retaliatory lawsuit when
they say, though, that The New York Times and Blake
Lively have no incentive to do any of this, though
I don't necessarily agree with that. Either they were a
promoting a movie and B they basically had a story
that has now become what something one of the biggest
stories in Hollywood talked about for months now.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Does it incentivize though, because I've never watched the movie,
and I will not watch the movie.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
I haven't watched the movie, but how many people have
clicked on the New York Hey.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
I think it'll be interesting to see if Blake's claims
hold up in court again. Baldoni's filed that motion to dismiss,
and the judge just has not yet ruled, so I
will keep you updated on that. Jamie Fox in a
very emotional moment yesterday as the twenty twenty five BET
Awards went down last night and he accepted the Ultimate
Icon honor at the awards ceremony in LA. Pretty big

(10:37):
deal when Stevie Wonder is the one who is introducing you,
and he did get very very moved about his health
and how much his family and fans really stepped up.

Speaker 7 (10:48):
I cannot even begin to express the love that I
feel from everybody out there. When I saw that memoriam,
I was like, man, it could have been me, But
I don't know why I went through what I went through,
But I know my second chance. I'm not gonna turn
down my beautiful daughter, Karne. I cannot say enough about you.

(11:12):
You've always taken a backseat to everything. Well, when you
needed to drive it, you drove and you made sure
I was here.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Isn't that incredible? It was a really moving moment, a
snoop also taking home an icon a ward and having
some very sweet things to say about his wife, which
you can hear at West Michigan Star dot com. And finally,
two members of k Pops BTS have officially completed their
mandatory eighteen month military service in South Korea, leaving their

(11:41):
base yesterday to the roars of fans counting down for
the supergroup's reunion. RM and B standing in their military
uniforms outside the base, made sure to even address fans, saying,
to all the armies that's what they call themselves, who
have waited for us in the military, I want to
say I am truly truly grateful VET old reporters and fans.

(12:04):
Please wait just a little longer and we will return
with a really cool performance.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
I mean, this is essentially the South Korean version of
when ELVISI.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Oh for your celeb scoop at West Michigan start off on.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
I don't know if you've coined the term or not, Schmidty,
but you may have with Mom scams.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Well, there's certain things I think you shop for as
a mom or a parent, and that's what makes getting
scammed and taken advantage of so much worse. So I
want to talk about this, see if you guys had
some good tips on avoiding these things, because it always
shocks me when someone I know for a fact is
so hyper aware about these things that's everything, and yet

(12:47):
still gets taken and I feel so bad. It happened
to my sister in law yesterday. She actually texted me
shortly after the show and she was super excited because
she's been talking for months about getting one of these
stroller wagons. And I will tell you exactly what one,
and I guarantee every mom listening will know what's up.

(13:07):
The Wonderfold Lux Quad stroller wagon. This thing is top
of the line. It runs anywhere from like seven hundred
to one thousand bucks, but it's got everything. It's like
a canopy top. Some of them seat two. She actually
found one that seats four, so she's like, it's top
of the line, tolf of the line. It's like the

(13:28):
best wagon out there. But again, she's also not somebody
that's gonna go and spend a thousand bucks on a wagon.
So she was like, this is great. You're never gonna
believe it. I found this incredible deal on Amazon and
I've done this too. A shopping on Amazon. Everyone has
generally you trust what's out there, so right, so she

(13:49):
was like, I'm so excited, Oh my gosh, and she
sent me the info about this. She goes, it's a
four seater so when we're hanging out this summer, Sofia
and Will can sit in it if they need to.
This thing's got cup holders, a table for snacks and meetings.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
So she's been looking for months for this, and she
said it's on this great clearance price. Plus, where my
brother works, they get some kind of wellness incentive, so
you actually get money to use for things like this
because it's going towards your child. She goes, We're going
to get this for almost nothing. We've saved up a

(14:26):
bunch of Adam my brother's wellness credits. She's so stoked,
Like four hours later, I get up from my nap yesterday,
she is in tears and she's like, we got scammed.
The money is gone. The Amazon seller and their entire
market is no longer on the site. WHOA, what am
I going to do?

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Do you think they literally set that up one at
a time so that they can think, if they just
scam one person, close it all down, do it all
over again.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
And I'm googling this and it's it's a thing. It's
a thing on a lot of different seller sites, and
it looks totally legit. You're a part of, you know,
this huge corporation that's known for online selling. And she
is in tears. She's like, oh my god, we just
lost all of our like, we lost everything. And so
I would love to know if you've got some good
advice on this, because the first thing I said to her,
the first thing, I go, okay, so you had some

(15:15):
of the wellness credits. I go, but was that on
a credit card? Did you pay with a credit card?

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Right?

Speaker 1 (15:19):
And she's like yes, I go beautiful. That's like my
top thing to tell people pay for things with a
credit card because your bank will go at them. I
have been scammed once, you know, I was doing it
on my Chase card. Called them immediately. They said, no worries.
Money was in my account within twenty four hours. And
they're like, we will fight this. We fight this as
the bank, here's the money back. We see that it posted,

(15:41):
and this is a scam. So she's hoping that's the case.
But the problem is the banks won't do that until
the money posts, and now they're just waiting for that
to happen. And so she's like, I don't know if
this is a waiting game. If this person waits a
really long time to pull the money, so then by
that point the bank no longer feels like they want
to fight it. It is such a terrible thing, especially

(16:04):
I feel like coming from parents, because it's like, man,
I was buying a wagon, Like, come on, I'm sick
of carrying my kid around.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
That's all I was trying to do. You and you
know that that person is out there, Like you know
who's the biggest suckers are? It's parents. Parents are the biggest.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
There is something I was just talking to a friend
of mine about this over the weekend. There is nothing
that lights a fire under my back end more than
white collar crime. I've talked about it on the show before.
We had our money stolen from a contractor a few
years ago. That nothing angers me more the white collar crime.
Get a job. Get a job, Like the rest of

(16:40):
us don't be stealing stuff. So I posted up whether
you have some really tried and true advice for avoiding scams,
because honestly, this one might have gotten me. She did
in my opinion, everything right Amazon.

Speaker 3 (16:53):
I'm honestly never looking for it.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
I'll be so careful. Seller Gone Market closed down, and
a lot of people talked about checking the website and
the email address. A lot of people are working in
business like us, and you get those phishing emails so
they can try to trick you and then point out
what you did wrong. Amanda said, I always check the
email address from the sender. If it's a legit company

(17:15):
or a government agency, they're not going to use a Gmail.
That's that's not a thing. We just actually had a
warning this morning. I saw on wood TV because once
again and I got the text yesterday about unpaid tolls.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
That they were like, especially if you make that post.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
Because when do you get a text message from a
Josephine at vzend dot com Because that's where it came
from me yesterday. That's you're not going to get a
text message from someone like that.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Maybe I'm just feeling guilty because I never pay the tolls.
I don't know, maybe it's that.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Tony pointed out phone call. Phone call scams are so convincing,
and whether it sounds like a family member. We've heard
those terrifying stories that AI can make it sound like
a family is calling Boom, you hang up and then
you call that actual family member back, and then there's
rick I delete everything and trust nothing.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
Yeah, that's that's problem.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
Six on six or five eight? What oh five seven?
I wanted to warn you guys of this scam because
my poor sister in law is now fighting for her
money back because of this wonderful stroller. And see if
maybe you've been scammed something that happened to you, or
some good advice on how to avoid it. Keep an
eye out for it. Give us a call four or

(18:28):
five eight, what oh five seven? Or if it's easier,
hit that red mic inside our free iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
I got scammed out of some sunglasses on Instagram. They
were five dollars. That was about three years ago. Who knows,
maybe they'll show up side two five dollar shades. Smitty's
so salty. It's time for that weekly event session from
my partner and crime over there? What's going on? With
Salty Schmitty this week.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
So have your kids hit you up for a Nintendo
switch to.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
My kids have not dared to as of yet, because
as soon it was announced, they brought it up and
I was like, you just got your switch like last Christmas.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
There's no there we go. I am just slightly salty
because I still haven't gotten I'm gonna say I'm only
fifty percent salty. I don't know if I can go
the full one hundred yet because they don't have full
confirmation on this, but so far I have seen, yeah,
you can play some Nintendo Switch games on the Nintendo

(19:25):
switch to. And if I could speak to the tech
companies right now, I get it. You're here to make
a profit. That's what you're supposed to do. But throw
us a bone, because I literally feel like I just
got my kids a Nintendo Switch and that was a
really big deal. They had to do chores for it.
It was something they even saved up some of their
money for. Now they're seeing the Nintendo switch to and

(19:48):
they're like, let's do that, and I thought, well, okay,
let's take a look at it. I guess if it's
just upgraded quicker systems, no people even say in the forums,
they're like, yo, you can play some games, putting out
most of them doing that to us. We broke. We
broke as a joke. I love you, Nintendo. I'm gonna
keep buying your games, but just let us play it
on all the systems, Shmitty.

Speaker 5 (20:09):
So Stalky, movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
All right, hold on to your screams. I don't know
if I necessarily believe this new evidence, but some fans
believe Taylor Swift and Travis Kelcey secretly tied the knot
over the summer. And they're pointing out a new picture
that they don't think was supposed to get posted. So
the pair were at the Chicago Bears Colcomet's wedding over
the weekend. This is the big one outside Nashville where

(20:44):
you saw some of the pictures of the pair. Well,
here's the deal. In pictures that were just released, the
pair could be seen at table thirteen during the reception.
How cute is Taylor's number? But they also pointed out
that the guest cards read mister and missus Travis Kelsey.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
I can totally see that being a fun gag to
do for those two.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
So here's the deal. Obviously, the swifties went wild saying
Taylor and Travis Kelsey, excuse me, they got married. This
would be such a welcome surprise for everyone, with someone
writing I knew it. The reason they are so hyped
about this is that a lot of them don't believe
we were supposed to see this picture, that it was
accidentally posted and they didn't realize this detail was in there.

(21:31):
But then there's other fan saying, not weird, it's solely
for esthetic purposes, somebody else writing technically it should be
Travis and Taylor Kelsey. That's usually standard for weddings. There's
nothing more here about it, so you can decide for yourself. Meanwhile,
it was a very big win for Taylor after getting
a restraining ordery yesterday. She says an ex convict keeps

(21:52):
showing up at her house uninvited, falsely claiming that she
is the mother of his child. Taylor said she even
had to changed the address on where she was at
because she noticed this person changed the address on his
driver's license to her LA address. Wow, isn't that wild?

(22:13):
Forty five year old Brian Jason Wagner. She says the
harassment has been going on for years. She even got
letters from him and when he was incarcerated, so the
temporary restraining order was granted yesterday afternoon.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
I mean, I know this is terrible, but at the
same time, part of me wants the police to show
up to the house and him be like, no, I'd
live here. It's my ID. It's got it right here.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Blake Lively is feeling very confident after scoring a big
legal victory against director and co star Justin Baldoni and
her it ends with us legal war. Now, if you
missed my story last hour, a judge threw out all
of the lawsuits filed by Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios against
Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and The New York Times. That

(22:57):
judge ruling yesterday. Blake is proud that she stood strong
and used her voice and thankful that the judge saw
through the other side's charade. She even posted on Instagram
last night saying her resolve was stronger than ever to
stand up for women, to protect themselves and not be
afraid to speak up. She also thanked supporters who have

(23:17):
had her back for the past six months, even tagging
some of those organizations that help with this very thing.
Now if you missed this part as well, Justin has
asked for all of Blake's suits to be tossed out
and a judge has not yet ruled on that.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Honest. So this is probably the first good news for
Blake Lively in several months. Right, like she has been taken.
I feel like the brunt of the pr hits here.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
Yeah, it's still happening. The comments section was brutal towards
her when this was reported yesterday. Finally, actor Mark Wahlberg
in Detroit for the Big Feldman Auto Children's Miracle Networks
Celebrity Invitational. This is with Partner's Core Well Health we
all know well from sports to entertainment. The event features
dozens of celebs that are fighting to help Michigan kids. Xyzs.

(24:07):
Brad Galli actually caught up with the actor and said, listen,
you've actually got really deep roots in Detroit. You filmed
quite a few movies here. You know about our Detroit lions.
What would you say to a movie about them? And
who would you star as well?

Speaker 3 (24:23):
You know what?

Speaker 4 (24:24):
Actually it's unrealistic that I would play a player, So
why not play the coach? That would be amazing. He
looked at Yeah, they can't measure you on film. You know,
you're on the big screen. You look ten feet tall. Anyway,
James Cagney always said, you know, I'm the six to
four giant when we're on the screen. You know, he
would say, that's all the other taller actors. And he
was a force of nature. So what an amazing coach?

(24:44):
That would be an amazing part.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
Yeah. He had a lot of really great things to
say about the state of Michigan, but especially the Lions.
As you know, he's a Patriots fan, being from New England.
But his NFC team, he says, are the Detroit Lions.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
Well he's got the guns to pull off mcdc's look
there too, if not the height.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Schmitty, All right, all of your celet scoop at West
Michigan Star dot.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
Com selling a five point seven. It's Mack and Schmitty.
Time for a battle of the sexes. Getting over to
our Frederick Meyer Gardens.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
Oh have you ever gone to the summer concerts series? No,
here is your chance this Thursday night. We welcome taj
Mahal Kepmo and Abraham Alexander. It's a fantastic venue and
all you need to do is come up with today's
number one answer for Battle of the Sexes. One hundred
women surveyed name something in your house that's worn out, something.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
That's worn out of my house? My name, oh, your name?

Speaker 1 (25:32):
Stop saying mom. We are a day a day into
summer break, and I hear mom, Mom, mommy, mom.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
I can use a new welcome matt because the l
and the sea have basically been completely worn off of there,
so it just says we own on it now.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
Basically, I think, I mean people have the keep house.

Speaker 3 (25:49):
We own all right?

Speaker 1 (25:50):
Six one, six, four, five, eight, one oh five seven.
One hundred women surveyed name something in your house that
is worn out? Collar seven. If you've got the number
one answer, we are sending you to the Frederick Meyer
Gardens on Star Win of five point seven.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Hi Star, who's this? Don One hundred women were asked
to name's something in your house that is worn out?
And like I said, it is not the bathroom towels,
it is not the carpet, it is not the TV remote.
But what do you think it is done. The recliner.
The recliner, you know when somebody has a favorite chair
and they sit it in sit there every single day.

(26:26):
You know how it works. You get your own booty
mark in there. It only fits your butt, nobody else's,
but shares the top answer it don You are headed
to go check out Kevmo and Tizmhall Thursday night over
there at the Frederick Meyer Gardens farnt of that summer
concert series, and we're getting you into great shows over
there all week long. So be listening again tomorrow. Battle

(26:48):
of the Sex is eight fifteen right here on start
one L five points. It's Mack and spitty. But I
want to talk for a second about things that really
don't make you feel good. The little things though that
just boil itunderneath your skin and get you fired up.
That happen all the time because they does put out
this big, big survey of the things that the little
things that annoy Americans, the MOTIONMITTI and by far the

(27:11):
biggest thing is having to talk to people we don't
want to talk to, like just.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
In general ill talk.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
I'll run through some of the I'll run through some
of the ones like a phone call when you're not
expecting one. Thirty four percent of Americans absolutely just hate
the idea of their phone ringing at a time when
they're just not expecting their phone call period, phone call period.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
I don't I don't enjoy talking on the phone. I
wish I did.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
People talking to them when they just want silence that
I can relate to, especially after a really, really long day,
and I just want I just want quiet. I just
don't want to answer fifty million questions. I think every
parent has felt that annoyance a little bit before.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
I mean, there's a reason Uber literally gives you the
option for a quiet ride.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
And then Schmidti, this is the top one. And I
think that this this does bother the living heck out
of me. The front door when you are not prepared
for somebody to come over, Yeah, I have. I have
literally sunken down below my couch line before, just to
avoid being seen by whoever was coming around. I'm sure

(28:14):
some college student asking if I wanted the exterior of
my home painted or something like that. But I have
literally avoided by just sliding slowly into the sea.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
We don't have a window in our front door, and
we get about seventy five kids that come to our
door every day.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
Well, we live in a neighborhood.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
As well home as Sophia home. Can they play? Can
they play? So I do I answer the door every
single time? Yeah, I think I mind that one as
much as maybe I did in my old house.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
What's a little thing that's bugging you more than others
or more than it should? Maybe even Schminne.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
You know, it bugs me all the time because I
think it's really it's entitled drivers. Okay, if you are
going in the left lane instead of crashing into someone
to get over to the right because you made the mistake,
just turn on your GPS. It's only going to add
about sixty seconds to your trip. You'll be okay to

(29:05):
take the long way around. It really bothers me because
I see accidents all the time because of this, and
I just don't understand why you think your world is
so much more important than everyone else's.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
I actually it's funny that you said driving, because I
think that's where people literally we turn into our worse
selves and allow things that shouldn't.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Help me, certain things in driving.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
So I put on this up on Facebook at West
Michigan Star and I just said somebody driving slowly in
front of you with their turn signal on that never turns.
It continues driving past the intersection signal on the whole
way you're waiting for them to turn, and then they
just go straight and you're like, is your blinker on
because you forgot it on? Or are you confused? What

(29:46):
is happening? And when am I about that? To sleep?

Speaker 1 (29:48):
My turn lane riders too, if you're taking a left
and the traffic isn't clearing, but then you either dead
stop in the left turn lane so people can't get
around you, or you just keep coasting and everyone's scared
of what going to do?

Speaker 3 (30:01):
All right, Smitty, here's this one because this one does
gross me out when I hear it somebody heavy breathing,
you know what. To me, it's got to be it's
about the person. It's it's a stranger. I haven't hear
of a person's next to me, But if there is
a person next to me at like a movie theater
or I'm standing in line and all I can hear

(30:21):
is them mouth breathing, good, yeah, that just makes me
so insane. Right off of back cut this up there?
What's that little thing drives you nuts. That's West Michigan
star showing a fine point seven helping to get this Tuesday.
I'll do a great start for you. It's feeling good
right now. What's happening to SCHMIDDI?

Speaker 1 (30:41):
Well, there's a thirty five year old warren man just
outside of Detroit defying expectations as he pursues his dream
of professional basketball, and he has proven to be quite
an example. His name is Christopher Wooters and he is
trying really really hard to become a G League basketball player.
But at thirty five, most people would think, wow, it's

(31:02):
a little bit late. Well, Christopher has faced quite a
few battles in his life. He fell in love with
basketball in high school, but unfortunately, at seventeen, he fell
in with a bad crowd. He became a follower, not
a leader in his words, and became a heroin addict,
a needle using heroin addict. His life became hiding his
drug abuse, including even getting high during high school basketball

(31:24):
team games. He was eventually out on the street. He
had lost everything and it was twenty fifteen that turned
his entire world around. That's when he welcomed his daughter Aria.
That was the lifeline that Christopher needed, but life wasn't
done with him yet. Shortly after his daughter arrived, he
suffered a horrific knee injury that required major surgeries. After

(31:49):
that recovery, he lost his brother to an overdose. In fact,
his G League dreams seemed further away than ever. But
now he is thirty five. He is a ad, a
role model, and there is nothing stopping him.

Speaker 8 (32:04):
I got goosebumps when you ask that question. So in
twenty fifteen, it was where my daughter was on his way.

Speaker 6 (32:10):
He's inspired my life by just being super strong.

Speaker 8 (32:13):
I think God the universe wanted to see how bad
did I really want this? So he threw everything at me.

Speaker 6 (32:18):
He just trust to be a really great dad, so
he inspires me to be an awesome crisis.

Speaker 8 (32:23):
When you let go of yourself in the process, it's
not only an underdog story. It's to let other underdogs
know that you can do it too.

Speaker 5 (32:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
Big shout out to Channel seven News in Detroit. Not
only is he working on those G League dreams, he's
also begun a nonprofit he calls Make Moves No Excuses,
where he helps youth follow their athletic dreams and stay
off drugs. An incredible person. This Christopher Ruters is.

Speaker 3 (32:48):
What a turnaround easy got a root for, that's for sure.
I spinny from dreams of professional basketball to dreams of
professional hockey for a local kid, as Muskega native Thai
Wrap got to play his very fame with the Meschigan Lumberjacks.
The thing is he's fifteen years old, yeah, on Monday,
taking the ice with the Lumberjacks for the first time,

(33:08):
saying it's something he's always wanted. Now, the Lumberjacks drafted
him back in May and he was with his dad
at a hockey tournament when that phone call rang and
it was Lumberjacks head coach Colton Saint Clair and Rap saying,
coach called me, and I was super happy. Me and
my dad kind of freaked out about it. His dad's saying,
there are certain moments as a father that are instilled

(33:31):
right when they're born, and that's going to be the
one that will never go away. But this was pretty
awesome too. He said, it's super cool. I've obviously worked
so hard for it and it's paying off. I'll keep
working and it'll keep paying off. Meanwhile, the Lumberjacks head
coaching staff saying they're really excited, saying the best piece
about him is that he hasn't even touched the ceiling yet.

(33:52):
There's a lot of room for growth and improvement and
something we're excited for. It means something extra to have
us having a kid in our own backyard that we
can help develop and hopefully one day play for us.
That from Lumberjacks head coach Colton Saint Clair, by the way,
the defending champion Lumberjacks as well the team that he's
joining there. So that's pretty awesome. Feeling good coming at
you a couple times a day. I always want to

(34:13):
tell you something awesome happening out there. We'll do it
again free tomorrow six forty five and nine twenty here
on Star Mack and Schmidty in the morning weekday starting
at six am on Star one oh five point seven
