It Mac and Schmidty in the morning on Star one
oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Good morning, Schmitty, Good morning.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Welcome into brand spanking new weekend. For many kids, it's
I know my kids, at least, it's the first week
where they don't go to school on a Monday.
Speaker 4 (00:24):
Yeah, this is the rough one, right, You just had
a full first weekend of summer and then you're.
Speaker 5 (00:28):
Like, wow, we still have to go to work. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Unfortunately, the camp cell kickoff already for my kids. They
actually for my daughter it's not till tomorrow, but my
son's football camp kicks off at nine thirty this morning,
and I couldn't be happier that it's immediately afterwards.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
I don't even want a lull. I just want you
to go right into.
Speaker 5 (00:44):
Say hey, good morning.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
If you were out in Rockford this weekend, Hello, what
an epic time with the start of summer celebration. Holy moly,
My kid's got camp starting this morning too, and I'm
not sure they're going to wake up because we are
teed Friday through Sunday. Wow, movies, music, and all the
gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Well maybe second time is the charm for Ditty and
his legal team once again asking the judge in his
trial for a mistrial, accusing prosecutors of presenting testimony they
fully knew was false. The rapper and Mogul's legal team
filing the letter Saturday morning. The reason for their request
related to the bombshal testimony from Brianna Bungolan. This is
(01:32):
an alleged incident where as a friend of Cassie's, she
said she saw Ditty hold her over the edge of
a balcony seventeen stories in the air, threatening death. Now,
Ditty's lawyers say prosecutors presented untrue testimony when Cassie testified
about the incident, because she said she actually saw Ditty
holding Brianna over the balcony's edge. Seems like the entire
(01:55):
thing is made up, is what they're saying. They also
say a lot of photos brought into evidence are just
simply untrue. Now the judge has yet to rule on
this new request for a mistrial, but could probably decide
at any time. I would assume today as testimony continues, and.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
If you're out Diddy's legal team. You're gonna throw everything
at the wall here. What was he doing last week, Viti?
Did I miss something where he was like winking or
smiling at a juror and the judge want of having
to yell at him in the middle of port and say,
do not be interacting with the jury in anyway.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
Marvel star Tom Hittleston and Broadway actress Zaw Ashton are
set to welcome their second child. I thought this was
interesting because I didn't know they had a first The
low key alum actually revealing the exciting news to Vogue
over the weekend. The announcement coming ahead of the appearance
for their big premiere, The Life of Chuck that's about
to open. They've been very very private. So this is
(02:48):
actually the woman he started dating post Taylor Swift and
after everything that went down in that. He's been very
open about the fact that they are super duper private.
They don't talk a lot about any part of their
relationship that includes their first child. We don't even know
the gender. We have no idea. They've been very very
very very close slipped about it. But she is pregnant again.
(03:08):
There's also been some interesting rumor about whether or not
they're Mary because in this Vogue article they do refer
to her as Ashton's or him as Ashton's husband in
this pregnancy feature. There has been some rumor after a
few weeks ago they stepped out on the red carpet
and were seen wearing giant rings on those very important fingers.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
But again, something I don't think we'll ever know.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
That's impressive Tom Hiddleston. I had not heard a single
word about his personal life since the.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
Uptail I know.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
And finally, Olivia Munn, the actress, says, unfortunately, you can
come at me, but there are certain TV shows that
are band in our household, and one of those is
Miss Rachel. She's speaking with People magazine for its latest
cover story. Seeing she's pretty much banned all kids for
her three year old and eight month old, that does
(04:02):
include the growing popularity of Miss Rachel, who just launched
on Netflix. She says, I know kids love Miss Rachel,
but the thing is, if I can't watch it, I'm
not going to spend the rest of my life going crazy.
These kids shows drive me crazy, she said. The cartoons
are not much better. Things like Blues Clues. I don't
(04:23):
know who showed him Blues Clues referring to her son.
But they are on my bleep list now, Echno, not
in my.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
House, Olivia. That's a rite of passage for all parents.
We all get suckered into watching shows that there's a
small part of our soul that dies every single time
we hear the things.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
This clues is rough. I won't disagree. All right, all
of your celeb scoop at West Michigan Star.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Dot com sell a fine points, Sevin Goodby, it's you,
It's Mack and Schmidty, and we're here to get your
feeling good as we start out this new week. And
you said you mentioned this on Friday, Smitty, I wanted
to get into a little bit more and call out
the newego elementary school life who took her a year
and then sent him to return those books like you
know you got to do at the end of the
(05:05):
year to a whole different level.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Literally, I mean that because she went and slept on
the roof.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
She got up with Fox seventeen talking about this whole
challenge she put forth on her students and how they
chose her to have a little camp out on the roof.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Sch Minnie.
Speaker 6 (05:18):
So I gave my kids a challenge to return books
at the end of the year that if we met
our goal, they got to vote on what would happen
to me. So they've voted between dyeing my hair or
sleeping on the roof, and so by a landslide, sleeping
on the roof one, we hit our return for books
at the end of the year back to the library.
(05:39):
And so last night I slept on the roof.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Yeah she did. She slept out of the roof after
they got those books back. Shmanny, So what did kids
here on the last day of school? Just shouting down
from the tops over there? Pretty sweet?
Speaker 3 (05:54):
And you know what?
Speaker 2 (05:54):
She said, It wasn't too bad up there, and even
has plans to do something similar again for students next year.
Speaker 6 (06:01):
It wasn't too bad. I have a really nice sleeping bag,
so I wasn't cold, and it wasn't windy. It had
a beautiful sunset last night, and so I saw that
too bad.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
We will see what done some of.
Speaker 6 (06:15):
They want to vote for for next year. But I
am definitely gained to do it again.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
I just love educators that are willing to get outside
of the box do something a little weird to make
the kids smile.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Shout out to missus painter, she was the best.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
All right.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Let's get to another incredible moment with Chef Jenna and
her nonprofit Food Hugs. We feature her quite a bit
in Feeling Good because her organization does something really cool.
It finds those people in our community that are serving
doing their best, but could use a little help. And
that's when they pop up with what they call a
tip back. They show up with an insane amount of
(06:50):
money and surprise these owners, and this most recent one
went out to Maggie's Kitchen. And let me tell you,
my husband and I have been a huge, huge fan
of Maggie's Kitchen for years now of what we call
Mexican breakfast. It's a really really good spot on the
west side of Grand Rapids. And Jenna showed up after
hearing about a really hard.
Speaker 5 (07:09):
Moment for the family.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
The owner of Maggie's Kitchen has recently had a stroke,
and so all of his family has shown up to
take over the brunt of the stress of owning a
restaurant while struggling with health issues.
Speaker 5 (07:20):
Even his sweet.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
Granddaughter quit her job to help work at Maggie's. The
place has been around for more than forty years. And
here's the video that that sweet granddaughter got surprised with.
Speaker 5 (07:35):
I'm absolutely.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
Yes, she literally couldn't believe it. She said, are you
for real? You're really really sure? A thousand dollars tip
showing up to Maggie's kitchen and even.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
Bigger than that.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
It's just the awareness to go and support the incredible business.
Like I said, they've been in the community more than
forty years. They're wonderful people. Food's delicious, They're a great
staple for Grand Rapids.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
That's awesome. Feeling good coming on to a couple times
a day. I always want to tell you about somebody
or something that's going on out there to put a
smile on your face. We'll do it again coming up
a nine to twenty here on Star.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
It's the celebrities gooop. On Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
Actor and singer Jared Leto is being accused of inappropriate
behavior through phone calls, emails, and text messages with underage girls.
The allegations are coming out named Bombshell. New report from
air Mail. It's a weekly newsletter that was founded by
Vanity Fair's former editor in chief alongside a New York
(08:48):
Times reporter. They published an expose with accounts from several
women who say they met Leto before they turned eighteen.
A few of these women claim Letto asked for their
phone numbers once. She was only sick when he texted
her back in two thousand and six, so this has
been a while. The anonymous woman said their talks quickly
turned sexual. A second woman said she was sixteen when
(09:11):
they exchanged phone numbers and seventeen when he exposed himself
to her. A third woman said that she was being
texted with before she turned eighteen. All of them claim
that he became far more aggressive when they finally were eighteen.
Now so far, at least with this report, the accusers
didn't provide any physical evidence to support these accusations, and
(09:33):
none of them are accusing Letto of engaging them in
actual activity before they turned eighteen. Lettos rep responding to
the claims in an article, saying there is no truth
to any of the allegations against him.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
I guess the sick allegations, you know, the part that
bothers me is like where you say there's no evidence,
there's no direct evidence of this.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
I just hate the idea.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
At least not in this article. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
If maybe they're talking with lawyers and they're having legal
advice that says, hey, let's wait for this to become
something else.
Speaker 5 (10:05):
I don't know, but that's what we're learning this morning.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
Fans were jumping at the chance to hear Miley Cyrus
sing over the week, and the problem is she was
never intending to.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
So.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
Miley was at the Tribeca Film Festival premiering her new
movie Something Beautiful on Friday night. She was on stage
for a Q and A segment when all of a sudden,
fans literally started heckling her to saying.
Speaker 5 (10:29):
The film festival on hounds of fields and a face.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
Yeah, fan saying we paid eight hundred dollars for this.
We thought it was a concert, this, that, and the
other thing. Eventually it got so bad, Miley saying people
were asking for her to do the climb, so she
did an impromptu a cappella performance of the hit song
from the Hannah Montana movie.
Speaker 5 (11:15):
She was visibly irritated about this.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Now she hasn't really spoken out, but fans online are livid,
commenters pointing out, you can't demand this of her. You
paid eight hundred dollars for a ticket that was specifically
stating what this was. It wasn't a concert. You were
going to hear her talk about this movie. Another fan said,
how dare you? This is why she rarely makes public appearances.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
You know what it felt like? It felt like dance,
monkey dance. Yeah, that's what it felt like, a bunch
of She handled it really professionally.
Speaker 5 (11:45):
When you watch this video, I'm like, man, I would
be so annoyed. Finally, last night, it was the Tony.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
Awards, celebrating the best and brightest on stage. Some big
winners including Best Musical to Maybe Happy Ending Best Play
to Purpose. We saw Best Actress go to Nicole shirt
Singer for Sunset Boulevard. I've heard such good things, and
then former Glee cast met Darren Chris Best Performance by
an Actor in a Leading Role. But definitely the thing
(12:14):
being talked about today the tenth anniversary of Hamilton and
the original broad Way cast.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
I'm not thrown away much? Shock how you're not thrown
away much? Just shot, Just how you'm not thrown away
much shut Man.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
It was electric standing ovation for minutes with that one.
I've got the video up for you with your scoop
all those Tony Award winners too, West Michigan Star dot Com.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
I mean, I think that's one of the greatest works
of art of like the modern age. A lot of
people do Leslie Odom Junior as Aaron Burr, Like I
heard he's going to do a few performances. I never
expect to see Lynn Manuel Miranda do it too much again,
but if we could just get Leslie Odam, I'll take
it amazing. Welcome into a new week and man, you
were partying it up this weekend between Rockford and kicking
(13:12):
off summer and going to thirty enough day clubs.
Speaker 5 (13:15):
Yeah, did a lot. Packed myself a little too much.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
If you guys have seen that meme where it's like
I was social for three straight days, so I'll be
living under a blanket for the next three straight months.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
But it was worth it.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
It was such a great weekend and I had such
an awesome time Saturday night, and the amount of people
that DMed me after I posted all these videos and
said where did you go? And why is this the
most awesome thing I've ever seen. So it was called
day Shift. My friends and I saw this months ago
and bought tickets day Shift and it's a thirty plus
(13:48):
club night. So went down at the intersection. It started
at five pm, okay, ended at ten. We were home
in bed at nine fifteen Saturday.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
Night sex o'clock. When you said day shift.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
In my head, I was thinking that this was like,
all right, you do a little day drinking, you dance
with your girlies, and you're out of there by like
six thirty, home to you know, tuck kids into Yeah,
ten pm Bedtime's awesome.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
All right, fuck it.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
That's exactly what it's designed for. So this thing has
been all over the world. I first saw this on
TikTok where it was like they have this amazing DJ
and they're just like, dude, come out party and still
get home before the babysitter starts charging extra right, like right,
And it was so we went we got there, I
mean we didn't want to like show up super early,
so we got there like five forty right right as
(14:36):
they had glow sticks, they had, i mean everything you
can imagine. And I'm looking around at all of these
people that are me and The playlist was incredible. It
had a little bit of eighties in it, but it
was definitely like late nineties early two thousands.
Speaker 5 (14:55):
I mean they started.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
Playing Nelly and jah Rool and you had like a
little bit.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
Of Spice Girls mixed in. It was so good.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
And I'm looking around and everyone was so polite, like
nothing was messy. The bathroom was exquisite. People were at
the bar getting wine, I mean, and you're I mean,
you're at the intersection. Like I went to Grand Valley,
I grew up partying and clubbing to like two am.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
At the intersection, here's a person selling Doctor Schuls Souls
and eggs, and now.
Speaker 5 (15:23):
You have someone asking for like a Kim Crawford. But
here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (15:27):
You would think that right, like, oh, you have doctor
Schulz's shoes on. No way, you guys. The millennials get it.
The amount of people in this club. My friend kept
asking people how old are you because she we're just
we're aging so amazingly. I saw this woman and she
was like, I'm forty four, and I swear to you,
I didn't think she was thirty. And that's what this
(15:49):
entire club was filled with. All these people that just
look great, fell great, and we were like, we're going
to be home in time to get like a full
eight hours of sleep. So here are my top three
things I noticed after going to a thirty plus club.
So well, first of all, I had gotten a lot
of sun that day, and I had done a lot
(16:09):
of walking around because we took the kids to Summer
of Celebration and the summer, so I did have to
take an etcetern before I went.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
I say I took.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
I took a couple of cedron, uh, which was that
was that was weird because I checked in and uh,
the security guy was like when is that to go?
Speaker 5 (16:25):
I have a headache and I got a lot of
sun today and he's like, okay, yeah, go ahead and
go to be on my feet.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
So then the funniest thing somebody dropped their drink on
the dance floor and like ten moms were suddenly there
with paper towel like sopping it all up. Me Like,
not once, not once, did I see any kind of
security person have to clean up a single mess at
this club.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Don't wipe you, guys that spreads it around, You not
want juice.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
It was hysterical.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
And then they had a smoking section outside. So I
stepped out with my friend for a few and you,
I mean you step into daylight, which is really strange
going from a club to like six pm. And there
were a couple of dads, a lot of polo shirts
at day shift club night, a lot of Poldudes. So
we went outside and there were like three guys and
they were baping along the side of the gate talking
(17:16):
about how solid the HVAC system looked, and I was
so excited.
Speaker 5 (17:23):
I was just like, I have made it.
Speaker 4 (17:25):
There's so many people that get so nervous in your twenties, right,
like thirty seems terrifying and oh my gosh, what am
I doing with life?
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Loo? Can that bad boy handle? What do you think
eight thousand square feet?
Speaker 4 (17:35):
But I got to this club night and I was like,
oh my gosh, this is what we need to be doing.
Like give yourself at least one of these a quarter,
because it totally changes your perspective. And you're like, man,
we're aging gracefully. We're still out here getting it.
Speaker 5 (17:51):
Our music is pretty.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
Much what's shaping the next generation. And it was so
much fun. And then yeah, we got my friend's husband
to pick us up because the kids were still up.
It was like nine p fifteen on a summer night,
and then we were home.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
Schmitty.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
I can already picture my gosh, just enjoying all the
time at the senior centers when they throw you guys
parties and you have your own litt laughternoon yelling.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
Very different generation. And it was proven Saturday night. So
to anyone who's at the intersection, please make that a
regular thing, because I want to bring everybody.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Was so fun, I gotta go. It sounds like a
good time.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
But even just to be a fly on the wall,
this sounds sounds absolutely ridiculous.
Speaker 5 (18:33):
Your mom's getting it.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
I really do feel a connection with those guys though
that were talking about the HVAC.
Speaker 5 (18:38):
Oh yeah, that's super yah.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
See because I connected with the moms cleaning up the spills.
We all have our own thing.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Here are the facts with human torch was denied at Bankload.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
It's not the news we need, it's the news we deserve.
Kick us off at this week's best time.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
Octopus hold grudges and throw shells at targets they don't like.
There's a new study out that finds octopi aren't just smart.
Their shockingly petty. Some of the throws clearly aggressive, according
to researchers, including females that are just so annoyed by
their male counterparts petty.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
Marine Biology University creates world's smallest violin. The Lowborough University
in London actually created a violin that's only thirty five
microns long and thirteen microns wide. That makes it smaller
than the diameter of a human hair. I can only
imagine whoever ran the project finished and immediately handed it
(19:37):
to his children.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
Deadbine, a middle school teacher accidentally gave students alcoholic drinks for.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
An end of year tree. You guys read the cans.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
This happened in San Antonio when a teacher brought in
seven cans of hard mountain dew Baja Blast gave them
to five students across three different classes, with one kid
experiencing sleepiness and confusion.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Quickly turned into a retirement party. Smitty Abbie woman attends
funeral to date undertaker. A Brazilian woman attended funerals in
her hometown every three months to catch the eye of
the undertaker there, and it worked out because the two
were just wet last month.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
There.
Speaker 5 (20:21):
Smitty good plan they make so much money hebbi.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
The TSA has had to officially state Costco cards absolutely
do not count as real IDs, confessing please stop. They
may have a gold Star, but that will not allow
you to flyby.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Oh. Woman says uber driver played AI songs with her name.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Uh yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
The passenger claimed that the driver began to play AI
generated songs that all featured her own name. There's a
fine line between cool and creepy, and that man is
driving out at SMITTYBI. That's this week's best headlines. You
see any great ones out there? You always got a
sway hit us. You up Facebook and Instagram. At West
Michigan Stock it's the celebrities goop on Star one oh
(21:08):
five point seven.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
Well, it was a shocking admission. Yesterday, Alex Cooper of
the podcaster and influencer who Is Behind Me Call Her
Daddy podcast admitting that she was sexually harassed during her
college soccer years. So she was at the Tribeca Film
Festival yesterday for her new Hulu docuseries Call Her Alex,
(21:31):
where she claimed she was harassed by Nancy Feldman while
attending Boston University.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
I just felt like I was eighteen years old. Again,
and I was in a situation with someone in a
position of power who abused their power, and it felt
like I wasn't gonna call her doney girl. I wasn't
someone who had money and influence.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
Or whatever it be like.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
I was just another woman who experienced harassment on a
level that changed my life forever and took away the
thing I loved him. And so in that moment, all
the therapy I have done.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
Quite out the window.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
She continued speaking, saying for many women, if not all, women,
who have been in this moment, you think I'm good,
I'm fine, and then suddenly you realize maybe I need
to open this wound back up because I clearly haven't healed.
She said that she noticed Feldman really starting to fixate
on her more than any other teammate, and it was
very confusing during her sophomore year. She said it was
(22:26):
based on her wanting to know who I was dating.
She would make comments about my body, she would always
want to be alone with me. Now, after this shocking confession,
neither Feldman, nor Boston University, or the school's athletic department
have responded to comment.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
I mean, it's wild to think about and not to
say that it doesn't happen more commonly that we think.
It's not often though, that you hear so publicly about
a woman position of power. Yeah, sexually harassing another female, Yeah,
in a lower position.
Speaker 5 (22:59):
That's justin.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Bieber's latest social posts have once again concerned fans, many
urging the pop star to seek help. The singer shared
a carousel of bathroom selfies on Saturday, with really over
the top facial expressions and weird body movements, with captions
that read things like you could point out my flaws
or you could recognize your own, you lill bleep. It
(23:24):
was also pointed out that Haley, his wife, was off
what looked like a beach getaway doing her own thing.
A lot of people are comparing this public unraveling to
what Britney Spears went through a LA two thousand and eight.
Very very concerned. There was also a problem last week
during Haley's big road skincare event. Her husband Justin came along,
(23:47):
looked very disheveled, very confused. His reps still fighting the rumors,
saying our drug use and anything else is absolutely not true.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
The evident stacking up a Yeah, something's going on, you know,
even if it's not those things. Clearly he's struggling with
some things mentally and definitely could hopefully use some help
for it.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
And it was a big weekend in the tennis world.
Coco golf making history winning her first ever French Open
Women's singles title. The twenty one year old made an
incredible comeback beating the world's number one Arena Sablenka. That
means she is the first American woman to win the
(24:31):
French Open since Serena Williams in twenty fifteen. It's been
ten years. Wow, and you want to talk about watching
tennis for a while. The French Open men's final between
Carlos Alcarez and Yennick Sinner lasted a record breaking five
hours twenty.
Speaker 5 (24:49):
Nine minutes over the weekend, but it was incredible.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
It was a two set comeback.
Speaker 4 (24:54):
I can tell you not watching tennis for five and
a half hours.
Speaker 5 (24:59):
All right, all of yours leb Scuba West Michigan Star
dot Com.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Seven to five points seven. It's Mac and SCHMIDI looking
to battle and get you over to our Frederick Meyer
Gardens for part of their summer concert series. They show
legendary musician and kebm schmidty an unbelievable blues artist too.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
Yeah, it's taj Mahal keb Moo and Abraham Alexander. And
it is these Thursday nights.
Speaker 5 (25:20):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
Maybe you start to lay the groundwork for a little
uh pto. On Friday morning, we have Battle of the Sexes,
with your number one answer scoring you these Meyer Gardens tickets.
One hundred men surveyed. Name of food or drink you
still eat after its expiration date.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
I don't like seeing the dates because once it's in there,
it's in my head. That's the problem with it, Schmidt.
It's not that it will make me sick. It's that
in my head, I'm afraid it will make me sick,
which will automatically make my stomacher.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
I play fast and loose with milk. I won't lie
to you if it's going on cereal or if it's
for my kids.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
I'll give it a couple of ya and that you're
playing fast and loose, that it has got me worried
about your gut.
Speaker 5 (25:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
On six four five eight one oh five, seven, one
hundred men surveyed. Name a food or drink you'd still
eat after its expiration date? Caller seven, you have today's
number one answer. You are going to the Frederick Meyer
Gardens Summer Concert Series this Thursday night with Star one
oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
Good morning Star. Who's this?
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (26:18):
This is Thomas from Grand Rapid. Thomas from Grand Rapids.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
Let's get you to our Frederick Meyer Gardens. My friends,
you just gotta tell me. When one hundred women were
asked a name of food or a drink that you'll
still it can eat or drink just a few days
after its expiration date, what do you think the top
answer was there.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
Thomas, I'm gonna say chicken.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
You're gonna say chicken. You know, if the smell ain't funky,
you can still eat that chicken for sure. But Chicken's
not on this list. I'm sorry, man a thank you,
Hi Star.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Who's this Sarah? Sarah?
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Thomas just gave me a great guess when one hundred
guys were asked the name of food or drink you
usually will still eat even after it is expired a
little bit. Uh, He said chicken, which was not on
the list of the top answers here. So what do
you think it is, Sarah?
Speaker 3 (27:08):
Breads? If there's no mold it's not old Bread's the
top answer Sarah can get.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Everybody goes check out taj Maahl and kep Tho this
Thursday night over at Frederick Clayer Gardens. Awesome.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
All right, Well, I want.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
To know what is the one that is you look
back on your life, the one that when you see
it in photos, anytime it gets brought up, you just
have to sort of shake your head slowly and go.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
Yeah, everyone was doing it. I did thought everybody was
doing it.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
Guys, we were all doing it.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
The reason I break it up though, is because if
you are a parent of a kid who's into baseball
right now, there is this brand called Baseball Lifestyle BB
one oh one is what you could look up for
it and it is the hottest thing for kids in
baseball right now. And schmitty, it also happens to be
(27:58):
the ugliest thing you can imagine. I want you to
pull this up wardrobe. No. So, what my son wants
is these things called ice cream shorts.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
And what they are are.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
These brightly colored shorts that only come in you know,
colors so bright they hurt your eyes, mixed in with
like a melting ice cream cone dripping down this side.
Of the Shortsmitty, they're fifty dollars apiece. They're fifty bucks apiece,
and my son is dying to spend his birthday money
(28:30):
on this, and my wife and I have both been
telling him, like, look, we can understand why you want
to do the thing that you know all the other
kids are doing and you think it looks cool. Let
me just tell you that these are ugly, that these
are hideous.
Speaker 5 (28:44):
I think I think they're very gen z elf.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
I saw dude in his forties wearing them at Little
League the other night, though, the exact pair of my
son wanted, and we both my wife and I looked
at the guy at the same time and just started
laughing out loud at this. But like they he wants
so bad, And as we talked about it, my wife
and I were like, oh, do we let them get
the shorts? Blah blah blah, and I go, look, honey,
it wasn't that much older younger than Connor when I
(29:10):
went through my fresh Prince of bel Air phase, when
it was tie die everything and stone washed pants and
jaggings and all sorts of hideous stuff, not even including
high school, where I had frosted like it wasn't frosted tips.
It was son in I was using on my hair,
and then A had jinkos, but like fourteen inch holes
(29:30):
that just looked.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
Stupid on everything.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
I went to college with boys that layered three polos.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
Oh, three polos a super super lame. Those guys like.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
The white, the neon orange, and then the neon green.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
I thought you were gonna say, the layering of long
sleeve shirts underneath T shirts with like a jacket over that.
I definitely was into the grunge thing. I think the
ugliest one I ever did, though, Schmitty was there was
a time in the nineties where boys thought that having
extra belt was like a good eye where your belt
was longer than it was supposed to be and you
(30:03):
let it hang down like six to eight inches wow,
from the belt area. That was the stupidest thing that
we were all doing in my high school at one
point in time.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
Just terrible.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
I mean, I'll be honest.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
Melissa wrote jelly sandals on Facebook big time and girl.
Speaker 5 (30:20):
They make a good beat shoe.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
I just bought them for my daughter because they were
pretty inexpensive and you don't have to like clean them.
Speaker 5 (30:27):
Everything falls off of a jelly sandal Renee.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Wrote the bull cut hands down and on a girl.
I can definitely see how that would be traumatizing. But
literally every dude I know had the bulk passage and
third grade till high school.
Speaker 4 (30:41):
Basically, honey, I had a bowl cut and my mom
undercurled my bank.
Speaker 5 (30:46):
It was like five years worth. Of course I do.
And you know what, I'm a stronger person for it today.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
I love it. I actually that's what I said.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
I'm like, you know what, buddy, if these are what
you're going to spend your money on, it's fine. I'm
just going to take pictures of you in it so
that in like ten years or so, we can look
back at them and.
Speaker 5 (31:01):
I can say, you spent fifty bucks on this.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
Oh just so this was your birthday money? Buddy, What
is the worst fashioned choice you think you ever made?
We got this up on Facebook right now at West
Michigan start.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
A fun points.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Yeah, it's back and Smadi, you can always count on
us to bring something positive to your day each and
every day with feeling good.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
What's up Spanish?
Speaker 4 (31:19):
Well, it's been a really tough seven months for five
year old Julius. Read the Kid from Detroit has been
battling kidney cancer, something we hate having to say about kids, especially,
but that didn't stop Julius from giving a big old
smile and a very sharp bow tie for his kindergarten
graduation photo.
Speaker 5 (31:39):
A few weeks ago. He goes to Hope of Detroit.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
Academy and luckily Michelle Lazen was a local photographer that
captured that moment and then a question that she overheard
Julius ask his teacher, miss angel, am I going to
have my birthday party before I die?
Speaker 2 (31:56):
See?
Speaker 4 (31:56):
Julius's sixth birthday is coming up in August, but his mom, Shenise,
admits she has started to fear that each day could
be his last. He has gone through so much with chemo, radiation,
blood draws, everything you can imagine for a cancer fight,
and at only five years old. So Michelle came up
with an idea throw Julius his first ever birthday party,
(32:19):
and last week, the Detroit community came together in a
big way. Everything donated, balloons, bounce houses, cupcakes, games, He
celebrated with classmates, even a surprise visit from his favorite superhero,
Spider Man.
Speaker 5 (32:36):
ABC seven on.
Speaker 4 (32:37):
Scene for what was absolutely dubbed the greatest day ever
any birthday?
Speaker 5 (32:43):
Junius, is this your birthday?
Speaker 6 (32:47):
Birdy? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (32:48):
What do you think?
Speaker 2 (32:49):
It is?
Speaker 1 (32:49):
Good?
Speaker 5 (32:50):
Unbelievable, It's amazing.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
Throughout all the chemo autu shots, aut of the the
blood transfusions, he gets a day where he gets to
be a normal kid and just have fun.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
And get this. That wasn't the last surprise. Towards the
end of Julius's big birthday, the family was gifted a
trip to Disney World, an overwhelming moment after what Shanie
has described as the hardest year of their lives. So, Julius,
we are pulling for you, buddy.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
Big time.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
And that's awesome that the whole community got that could
show up and celebrate your birthday. Line all right, ch
Benny at the Zebra has been everywhere over the last
twenty four hours. But he was everywhere all over the
little community of Christiania, about forty miles outside of Nashville
where at the Zebra. Not sure whether he's related to
Ed the Horse and if he talks or not, but
(33:44):
he was out for a week after escaping from his owner,
reported missing on May thirty first, and then police spotted
him all over including having to shut down the interstate
at one point. As Ed had made his way over there,
he was popping around what in area is, going through
people's subdivisions and became not only the talk of the
town but of the entire internet, as meme after meme
(34:05):
of Ed the Zebra started taking off online. But happy
to say that after his week on the lamb, this
zebra has been recaptured. You know, it's wild. They've got
footage of him flying through the air.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (34:20):
The videos worth seeing.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
Beam helicoptered into safety. I gotta say, whoever the helicopter
pilot is to, it'd be amazing at claw machine because
he basically maneuvers ed right into the back on the helicopter.
Speaker 5 (34:34):
He's being held up by like some straps.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
It's amazing this thing is beending around going wild.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
But it was really cool.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
There's also footage Smitty of a drone that was above
the helicopter during the capture.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Oh yeah, there we go.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
He might further west. Yeah, so there's this footage from
up a of them doing the whole rescue. I'll share
it with you over at West Michigan or at West
Michigan Star on Facebook. But Ed is doing great return
to his owners, and we'll be back to roaming the
pastures there outside of Nashvillere you go, feeling good coming
(35:14):
at you a couple times a day. I always want
to share awesome things happen.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
Out in our world.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
We'll do it for you tomorrow, six forty five and
nine twenty each weekday on Star Mack and Schmidty in
the morning weekday starting at six am on Star one
oh five point seven
