Speaker 2 (00:09):
Laugh all of it.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Mac and Schmitty in the morning on Star one oh
five point seven.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Oh, good morning, Schmitty, Good morning. Welcome into your Monday.
Hopefully after what was a phenomenal Mother's Day, Happy Mother's.
Speaker 4 (00:21):
Day to you, at least we got the nice weather.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Are you kidding? I'll take you that a weekend. I
broke the seal today. As a matter of fact, I
am wearing shorts to work for the first time in
months today. As people see TEMs get to the eighties, Yeah,
it looks like around West Michigan. And really take advantage
of it too, because this will be a warm week
and also looks like it's probably going to be a
bit of a wet week.
Speaker 5 (00:42):
Sometimes.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
We got a wedding coming up Saturday, just in time
for the high to dip into the fifties.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Nah is it an outdoor?
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Well, there you go it? Sure is it? Sure is
bold move in Michigan. Yell, hey, I hope you had
a wonderful Mother's Day. Truly, truly, I know I had
a lot of you pop into my DMS. I appreciate that.
I hope you did nothing yesterday. I hope you didn't
have to do any pair. I hope you didn't have
to make any decisions. I hope you just laid around
or watched your reality shows and just had food fed
to you. Because we're back to our real lives today.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
We got the tool of time. We got to Holland,
and you know what, that was such an original idea.
There was definitely nobody else out of.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
It's seventies on the lake shore and imagine gorgeous movies, music,
and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
Well, today mark's the second week of Diddy's trafficking trial,
and there are some big milestones expected today, including finally
seating a jury and hearing opening statements from both prosecutors
and the defense. Jury selection up first this morning. There
are still forty three jurors to go through the goals
to pick eighteen. That's twelve jurors six alternates, but Ditty's
(01:53):
defense says they're expecting this to be quick and easy.
Once the jury is set, then the trial moves on
to opening statements. Very interesting over the weekend as quite
a few videos popped up online showing the courthouse at
the center of all this getting a bit of a facelift.
Video shows workers repainting security barricades outside the Federal District
(02:14):
Court in Lower Manhattan. They were touching up areas all
across the property, hoping to give the site a cleaner,
sharper look because of the amount of worldwide media that
will be here, including a fresh coat of black paint
applied to front facing barricades that is where they're actually
going to be staging all of the media. Across the street,
a public park has even been officially dubbed Media Row,
(02:38):
where all major TV networks were already staking out their
camera positions for this morning. This is gonna be big.
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
I like to get dressed up before I go on
TV too.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
Oh boy. Actress Amber Hurd's family has grown in a
big way, welcoming twins. She is now the mom of three.
Amber sharing the news on Instagram yesterday, how appropriate for
Mother's Day, saying Mother's Day twenty twenty five will be
one I'll never forget this year. I'm elated beyond words
(03:09):
to celebrate the completion of the family I've strived to
build for years. She continues, I officially share the news
I welcomed twins into the herd gang. My daughter Agnes
and my son Ocean are keeping my hands and my
heart full. Becoming a mother by myself and on my
own terms, despite my own fertility challenges, has been the
(03:30):
most humbling experience of my life. I'm eternally grateful that
I was able to choose this responsibly and thoughtfully. So
two twins will be joining their four year old sister.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Good for her, and it's been a while since you
heard a positive news story about her.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
I think she's in Spain. I think that's where she's
living now. And speaking of Mother's Day, another big celebration
that happened over the weekend. This is going to make
you feel old. Kate Goslin's kids are twenty one. Yes,
Kate herself actually sharing photos to her Instagram on Saturday
celebrating with sex tuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aiden, Colin, Leah and Joel,
(04:08):
who are all twenty one years old. She had a
carousel of picks. They were clearly out at some kind
of restaurants celebrating. Remember, she also has twenty four year
old twin daughters, Maddie and Kara, so Kara, I believe,
decided to stay with John as well as Colin. So
(04:30):
we saw Colin out with Hannah, who also turned twenty one.
So there's still a huge, huge rift in this family
where the siblings do not speak to each other.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
I mean, you wish they were all together. I do
think it's it's got to be tough to be a
parents of that many kids, especially when they're sex what
is it sex tuplets? Yeah, six and twins like that.
Just keeping track of where everybody's at, that's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
All of your celeb scoop at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Let's do this going into the new week with little
extra juice. It's feeling good on starleinofoon point seven. MACKA
Smitty hanging with you this morning. And I gotta call
out the White Lake Township Police Department over on the
east side Schmitty, because it was an officer there that
came upon a situation that they had never encountered before.
About ten thirty PM, an officer was called to the
(05:18):
scene of a crash involving a deer by the local
meyer there, and the officer founds a pregnant dough had
actually been hit by the vehicle and she was about
to give birth, but sadly passed away right there at
the scene after being hit by the vehicle. Well, the
police department didn't just leave. The officer instead decided to
(05:39):
deliver the fawn. They warmed it up and got it
breathing right there, and it was then brought to the
police station where another officer gave it Milkin started caring
for it. A post on the police department's Facebook page
actually saying our midnight shift named him little Baby Meyer
because of where he was born. Nowhid Life Rehabilitation Center
(06:01):
is going to be taking care of the fawn, and
they just put up on that Facebook post. Sometimes in
this job you see and do things you've never done before.
We can now mark dear birthing and dear neonatal care
off the list. Best of luck with your life, Baby Meyer.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
Cute.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
I mean, just a wild situation to come upon and
to do that for an animal that hasn't even been
born yet, it's pretty special.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
So the Amway Riverbank Run went down Saturday morning, and
every year there are so many inspiring stories that come
from this race. Someone who's doing it or a reason
they're doing it, and that's just what happened with Christine Eckenbauer.
She's been a runner her entire life, but a health
scare meant possibly not running anymore. Back in February, she says,
(06:47):
I woke up in the morning severely nauseated, stick to
my stomach, went to the bathroom, was sick. Then I
kind of just fell to the floor. Christine had a
heart attack. There were a lot of unknowns during her
recovery on the east side of the State Horwell Helps
Trenton Hospital, but the support from her family and her
doctors made all the difference. She said, I am so
(07:07):
grateful they really truly saved my life. So fast forward
only three months after suffering a heart attack, and Christine
raced in the ten k of this year's Amway Riverbank Run,
joined by all three of her daughters, Kayla, Jessica and Ava.
She sat down with wit TV to say, this is
(07:28):
an experience she never wanted to miss.
Speaker 6 (07:30):
I just love Grand Rapids. It's so beautiful there, and
the race is very well organized as well, and it's
just a beautiful run. It's just a beautiful race, and
it's a very family like race to me too. Kind
of feels a little bit small town, and I always
said that about Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids is it's a
big city, but it's got a small family feeling to it.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
And she was feeling that fall or that feel of family.
She went on to say it is an that will
now become tradition. But she also said this serves a
far bigger purpose. She wants to be that warning for
others who might be putting off very similar symptoms, telling Wood,
you question, why did I survive? Why am I here
to do this? What is happening? This situation is an
(08:17):
opportunity for me to help save someone else's life, and
I will always race for that.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Really cool to these music and all the gossip in
one place.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
It's the celebrities group on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
Well singer Miley Cyrus is setting the record straight on
any potential beef with her mom, Tish, rarely speaking on this,
but posting to her Instagram over the weekends saying her
mom's just really bad at technology, writing on her stories,
my mom and I are too tight for anything to
ever come between us. She's my best friend. Like a
lot of moms, she doesn't know how to work her
(08:51):
phone and somehow unfollowed me. Simple, coincidental and uninteresting. Grateful
for the good health and love that flows through my family. Meanwhile,
Dad Billy Ray is actually heaping praised on his ex
wife but mother of his children. He actually took to
his Instagram with a very loving Mother's Day message yesterday,
(09:12):
shouting out his own mother and making sure to mention Tish, writing,
She's the very definition of a strong mother. Trust me,
I'm the first to admit being married to me was
not easy. I'm very good at making mistakes, a very
imperfect man. But thank goodness, somewhere along the line, my
mama also taught me life's a series of adjustments. Being
(09:34):
honest here it's the hardest lessons learned. So it seems
like the Cyrus family is actually in a really good space.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Maybe it was his ex fire Rose that was really
the catalyst caused all the drama air space.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
Oh boy, Yeah, no, it wasn't as bad as I
thought it could be. John Legend says he is heartbroken
to see the devolution of his former mentor and good
friend Kanye West. In a new interview with The Times,
John admits the man today is not the Kanye, who
signed him to his music record label back in two
thousand and four, explaining back then, Kanye was very passionate, gifted,
(10:10):
he had big dreams not only for himself but for
the people around him, and it does feel sad, sometimes
shocking to see where he is now. John said he
never would have imagined seeing such a side of Yea,
saying it is really sad to see this devolution and
admitting he thinks there was definitely a difference in his
(10:30):
mental state after Kanye's mom, Donda passed away in two
thousand and seven. Legend said his descent started then and
seems to have accelerated rapidly.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Devolution. Is it termil she never heard before?
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Leave it to John Legend, the lyrical genius and a
powerful Finally, in honor of Mother's Day, I thought this
was one of the coolest cold opens for Saturday Night Live,
as White Lotus star Walton Goggins got his official hosting
debut and giving it up for his incredible mom, who
just happened to be in the audience.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
I was raised in Atlanta, Georgia by my mother with
the help of her three sisters and my grandmother and
my mama is the most important person in my life.
Whenever my mama she couldn't afford a babysitter, she would
take me with her to honky tonks. My mother taught
me how to clog, taught me how to two stuck,
and luckily enough for me, my mama is here tonight.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
Mama, would you dance with me?
Speaker 5 (11:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Hold on, let's kick this up a notch fellas if
you don't mind.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Like, I don't know how old Walton Goggins mom is,
but let me tell you she can still get it.
It was unbelievable. They had this entire routine. The audience
was on their feet, and he said, in honor of
Mother's Day, think the mom in your life.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
I mean, that guy has been around so long and
been in so many different movies. I was just happy
to see him getting his time on.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Oh, especially this way though. I've got the video for
you with your scoop at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Man, I woke up yesterday morning, Schmitty, waiting to get
a text from you or your husband.
Speaker 7 (12:11):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
I woke up on Mother's Day yesterday with a full
blown ice sculpture in my kitchen. Never in a million
years it was wild and first and foremost Randy Finch
with ice guru events. What a guy like I've I
have done stuff with him for years. He's an absolute
staple in West Michigan. I guarantee if you've ever been
(12:35):
to an event with ice or some kind of crazy,
fantastic art piece, it's Randy. He does it all. But
like I was blown away and like Chris was so
excited my husband and I slept him. I thought that
was very odd in fact, that the kids hadn't already
popped into my room by seven am, okay, because I
mean I was dead to the world Sunday morning. I
(12:57):
probably slept till like nine thirty beautiful, And I got
got up and crisping the wonderful husband he is, was like,
do you want to put your eyebrows up? Guys? You
guys know like I've got to fill I'm a blonde,
so I've gotten he knews happening, was like, and I
(13:19):
go what he goes? Well, because the kids have a
present for you, and I know you're gonna want pictures,
and I also know you're probably gonna post them and
you'll be super annoyed if you look you know, terrible
or expressionless, and I was like, you are actually the
love of my life. Thank you. So I went out
there and I expected, like, you know, the macaroni art
teeth some sweet wow. I posted it everywhere yesterday. I
(13:42):
got so many messages of this massive ice sculpture, which,
by the way, is still going strong this morning. Heck
YadA is. I mean a little bit of our face
detail has melted, but the spotlight is still on it.
It is like a work of absolute art. And I
was stunned. If you've seen the video, like my jaw
was on the floor. I'm like, I got me an
(14:04):
ice sculpture for others.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
I am so happy that it worked out where you
were able to be surprised, because that was the one
thing that I wasn't sure about. I was talking with
your husband, yeah behind the scenes last week and talking
with Randy and his team Bow those guys so incredible
to do all of this, and I'm like, I really
wanted to be surprised if it's possible, but I don't
know when I can we can deliver this thing. I'm like,
(14:27):
I feel like the earlier the better. Maybe you can
let Lauren sleep in And He's like, nine am or earlier.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
Yep, just like they did. Randy and his partner snuck
into my house yesterday morning. Chris had already like hidden
the dogs in the basement so they wouldn't bark, and
he's showing me these pictures. I was like, they were here.
He's like yeah, and it was fantastic, Like Randy, it
was so cool. But my kids probably my second favorite
(14:56):
part were my kids because they were so excited to
be Ninja's They were like, we're not saying anything, We're
super quiet. They like helped him, you know, quote unquote
set it up. They thought Randy was like the coolest
guy ever. And so we've got this ice sculpture in
our kitchen. Like the neighbors came over and looked at it.
They saw my Facebook posts and they were like, dude,
(15:17):
can we come over and see the ice sculpture.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Your kids got to see their faces, I know.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Like everybody in the coldest decide for her to see it.
Everybody's asking like who is this? So hopefully, you know, Randy,
you may have some calls because people were that like
blown away by it. But then will later in the afternoon, goes, mom,
do you have a good Mother's Day. I said, I did, buddy,
this was just really really cool, and he goes, so
when I grow up, I want to be mister.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Randy Will Sometimes he gets to carved with a chainsaw.
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
You're looking to pass the torch. Someday. My seven year
old has had his eyes open to the coolest job
and the whole wide world, which is sneaking into people's
houses with ice sculptures.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Maybe we're gonna have to ask and we're gonna actually
catch up with Randy Finch of Ice Guru Events and
Entertainment coming up a little later on this morning at
eight forty this morning, because we have something really really
cool that we're gonna give you guys the chance to
get in on.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Man, it was so sweet. Also, this will be the
classiest I've ever felt. Classiest, Harde mar You're.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
You're encased in ice. By the way, A beautiful photo
of you and ice too.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
I don't know where he found that, but I was like, wow,
very nice. My hair was down and everything.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Ice does nice things for your cheekbones. The structure schmith.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
My complexion was flawless erlessness. The human torch was denied
at bankload.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
All right, let's dive into this week's meaningless news. It
is your best headlines of the week.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
Every I told you you do this, and you're gonna
be happy to hear it. Fart walks are healthy and beneficial,
can even prevent cancer.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Been taking it for years.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
Coined by a Canadian cookbook author named Marilyn Smith, the
so called called fart walk is low effort, low impact,
not only helps your digestive system, but even wards off
serious diseases.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
It's healthy. Florida nurse accused of shoving nachos down wife's pants. Yeah,
Florida nurse accused of shoving hot, cheesy nachos down her
wife's pants. After disputes, asked why they were arguing, simply stating,
not your business.
Speaker 7 (17:24):
Ad bye.
Speaker 4 (17:25):
All right. A guy, a son and his mom, both
walking in the same graduation over the weekend, decided to
get matching kicks the sun, surprising his mom with old
school air force ones. Kyle is his name. Receiving his
Masters in Liberal Arts with not kind commenters pointing out,
(17:45):
oh boy, this kid'll need a handout for life.
Speaker 7 (17:48):
Bad bye.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
Portillo's unveils Pope inspired sandwich. Yeah, Chicago based Shane Portillo's
honoring the first American pope from Chicago with their sandwich
called the Lee, of course, but honestly a hot beef
sandwich baptized in Auzu Schmittti. That's as close to heave
it on earth as I feel like you can get.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
A study has discovered that texting kay is the most
emotionally triggering message.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Guilty, guilty bye sch Betty. Lab grown t Rex leather
handbags are now a thing. Yeah, you know, how can
you tell if it's authentic t rex leather? I don't
understand that. But you know what, Peta your move. That's
this week's headlines. You see any great ones out there?
Always said them our way? Al right at West Michigan.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Star's celebrity scoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (18:43):
Well, I'll start with an the haters. Taylor and Travis
are totally on track. Swift and her boyfriend Travis Kelsey
were actually spotted in Philadelphia yesterday, the two stepping out
in the city, surprising fans everywhere as they were hanging
out at an area restaurant, lashing big smiles, looking fabulous.
(19:04):
Of course, the rumors have been swirling since they hadn't
been seen together in a couple months, even skipping the
met gala last week, that maybe there was trouble in paradise.
Not the case. The two are simply very busy but
making time for each other as that is the most
important thing. Well until now. Taylor has now officially been
swept into the It Ends with US drama. Sources say
(19:27):
Justin Baldoni's attorney subpoenaed Taylor as a witness in the
ongoing legal war. Taylor's camp blasting the subpoena, saying she
was minimally involved in the drama on set and this
has sparked apparently a very nasty war between Lake and Taylor.
A spokesperson for Taylor says Swift never set foot on
(19:49):
the set of this movie. She was not involved in
casting or creative decisions. She did not score the film.
She never even saw an edit or made notes on
a film. She did not even see it with us
until weeks after its public release. She was traveling the
globe during twenty twenty three and twenty twenty four, headlining
the biggest tour in history. They add that the only
(20:10):
connection Taylor handed the film was permitting the use of
her one song, My Tears Ricochet. She said nineteen other
artists also gave to the soundtrack, So this subpoena is
only designed to use Taylor's name to draw public interest
in creating tabloid click bait. Now, remember Justin had mentioned
that she was actually a part of a meeting that
(20:32):
went down at Blake and Ryan's place where they were
talking about edits to the film. There are sources saying
that this has really really soured the friendship between Taylor
and Blake.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Why does Justin Baldoni want this? I guess my question
is Taylor Swift and her lawyers to me, are not
people that I would want to bring in against me.
That just seems like a bad idea.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
Well, Justin is also saying that four hundred million dollars
is what him and his studios have lost. Lake just
put in another order asking for proof of those financial losses. Y'all,
we still have a year before this trial actually goes
to court. Over the weekend, NFL legendary coach Bill Belichick
(21:16):
was on hand to support his twenty four year old girlfriend,
Jordan Hudson at the Miss Main beauty pageant. Unfortunately not
her year. Again, this year she placed third overall looked
very disappointed. The crown actually went to someone named Shelby
Powell of Banger. But what the Internet is talking about
(21:39):
is Bill sitting in the audience next to Jordan's dad,
who was in his late forties. The two seemed very
amicable having a conversation, but the Internet couldn't help a
point out, Oh my god, her dad looks like he
could be Bill's son, her dad. It's really weird feeling,
you know what.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
I bet you though in the People's Show, I bet
you she won the senior votes. Miitty, I'm just sad
she didn't win.
Speaker 4 (22:03):
Mister geniality, that was another one. That was another one
she didn't get. Finally, I just thought this was very cute. Unfortunately,
our Tigers losing their first home series against the Texas
Rangers over the weekend. But did you see what went
down during Saturday's game. It just so happens that brothers
played opposite each other and it was real cute.
Speaker 8 (22:25):
Playing a little tic tac toe between innings. And there's
Jace Young brother rather of Josh Young, both of them
playing third base tonight. But that's not all they're playing,
playing a little tic tac toe between innings out there
near third base.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
It was really cute. They would go back and forth
when innings changed and each mark their thing. It was funny.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Don't give my little leaguers an opportunity to not pay attention.
That's going to be their favorite game.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
Now, Oh of your celebscoob at West Michigan Star dot com,
Welcome into Monday.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Let's make it your favorite day of the week by
getting you hooked up at the story a Egle water Park.
Speaker 5 (23:01):
Man.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
My kids see these commercials and they're like, what it
is a pretty sweet spot. You get today's number one
answer with Battle of the Sexes and you're gonna get
an overnight stay with water Park passes. One hundred women surveyed.
Name something on a vacation that costs a lot of money.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
I mean on vacations in twenty twenty five. Literally everything,
literally everything right.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
Now, trying to think of anything that does it my
sanity literally costs money. Six one, six, four, five, eight,
one oh five seven callers. Seven one hundred women surveyed.
Name something on a vacation that costs a lot of money.
You get the number one answer, This phone costs to anything.
We're sending you to the Soaring Eagle Water Park with
Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Good morning Star, who's this treat that? Salh? Are you
calling from today? How is your mother's day? Teresa?
Speaker 7 (23:53):
It was great?
Speaker 2 (23:54):
Did your kids or grandkids anybody spoil you?
Speaker 5 (23:57):
Both?
Speaker 4 (23:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Both excellent. Well this is your chance to spoil them.
All right. We've got a four pack of tickets for
the Sore and Eagle Water Park there Mount Pleasant plus
in overnight's stay and you just got to tell me.
With one hundred women were asked to name something about
a vacation that costs a lot of money. What was
their top answer? Yeah, meals yeah, dining outs. You cannot
(24:19):
do it cheaply anymore, it feels like, but dining out
is the number two most common answer on this one.
I'm sorry, thanks Teresa, Thank you? I like good morning Star.
Who's this?
Speaker 5 (24:29):
Good morning?
Speaker 2 (24:30):
This is John calling from where?
Speaker 5 (24:32):
Calling from Zealand, Michigan.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
John from Zealand. All right, I just had Teresa on
the line, John, And when one hundred women were asked
to name something about a vacation that costs a lot
of money, she said meals dining out, which was the
number two most common answer, but not the top one.
What do you think the top one was there?
Speaker 3 (24:51):
John?
Speaker 5 (24:52):
All right, let's go with like hotel where you're staying.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
Let's go with like hotel where you're staying. It sounds
like you got somebody else the car, somebody trying to
help you get the correct answer here, John.
Speaker 5 (25:03):
We do. I got my three kids, McKenzie, Addy and Luke.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
You got to hi, Hi guys, you said McKenzie, Addie
and Luke.
Speaker 5 (25:11):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
Well it's a good thing you guys were with your
dad in the car. It's sort of like having three
lifelines all in one, and maybe that's why he got
the right answer. And you guys are going to the
water ride.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
That's Elisha, thank you.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
Yeah, it was accommodations followed by dining out, Dan, airplane
tickets and gasoline rounding out those top answers. But everything
on my case is expecsive right now, But not for
you guys. When you get up to Surrey an Eagle
water Park here very soon to go have some fun
up there with an overnight stay and water park passes too.
Speaker 5 (25:44):
All right, we are really excited.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
You should be. It's gonna be a blast that we'll
do it again for you tomorrow. Another chance to win
eight to fifteen with Battle of the Sex is here
on Star ohr SI's Mack and Schmidty and we hope
that you had a phenomenal Mother's Day yesterday. And I
know that you did, Schmitty, because we are talking to
a man right now that made some magic happen for you.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
I mean, waking up to a Mother's day ice sculpture
was not on my twenty twenty five Bengo card butt man.
I just got to bow down, Randy Finch ice guru
events absolutely mind blowing Mother's Day yesterday. You are the
best of the best, man. I can't thank you enough.
Speaker 7 (26:24):
Oh, it's a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
You guys did such an incredible job. So first off,
Schmitty' said behind the scene things here. So this ice
sculpture of Schmitty, it's three feet tall. This thing is massive.
But it's a photo of you and your two kids, Yeah,
Will and Sophia and you guys, Randy. I don't know
the magic that you guys get to do behind the scenes,
because I could not Schmitty, for the life of me
come up with a photo of all three of you
(26:48):
facing the camera together that was super recent, so I
actually sent them multiple photos and then they used their
wizardry and put it all together to put you all
on one great photo together.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
By the way, Randy, I look so much better than
I do in real life. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
It's slimmy, It's very slimmy, but it definitely looks cool.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
How long did it take? If I can ask? It
was so perfect?
Speaker 7 (27:11):
You know, it's it's it's a it's a team effort.
So we have a wonderful designer. She goes through the artwork,
does the artwork itself, and then transfers it over to
the production So it's a it's a team effort. So
ours want is? It kind of hard to calculate, but
generally the sculpting takes about three or four hours.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Wow, And I mean where do we We're using blades?
Are we using lasers or water cutting? What isn't?
Speaker 7 (27:32):
Yeah, actually we use we use a CNC. So we
did digitally program everything and then run it through in
the CNC etches everything absolutely perfect from the backside, and
then you look through it and you can see the
ice and we can do anybody's faces like that. Lots
of fun for graduations. The birthdays.
Speaker 4 (27:48):
That's the thing, because this was I was saying on
the air. Everyone wanted to come over and see this.
All my neighbors popped over. It is truly one of
those like unforgettable pieces of art, and Randy, you do
this and you make these memories for people.
Speaker 7 (28:02):
Well, the sculptures are easy. Actually, me getting up before.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Noon yesterday, I'll tell you about that. I did make
you sneak over and meet up with Smitty's husband, Christ
like before nine. Am so much appreciated for that.
Speaker 7 (28:15):
Sir, No worries, No worries, I know Smitty was sleeping away.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
I'm like, what I know, I really really was done.
So talk about some of the things that you do
for something like a graduation party, you know, so we
do everything.
Speaker 7 (28:29):
We have photo booths to capture the moment and we
can program them for all kinds of different things. But
also the ice sculptures, we do their portraits. We do
functional items like punch bowls, small easy pick up items.
So we've got a wide range of prices too for
different things for graduations, birthdays and weddings. The force as well.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Well, Schmitty. You know, we didn't just want to spoil
you on Mother's Day. We also wanted to use this
as an opportunity to highlight an amazing graduate. So many
kids out there graduating high school right now, graduating college,
graduating eighth grade, kindergarten, even Schmidty.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
So we have teamed up with Randy and Ice Guru
Events to make that memory for a grad. Randy, you're
actually gonna be able to do an ice sculpture of
a graduate, right, absolutely?
Speaker 7 (29:14):
Yes, So we'll take their portrait, reproduce it and ice.
And that's what they say is you know you're famous
with your faces and ice.
Speaker 4 (29:20):
It's true. I feel so good.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
I am very jealous now that I've seen you in
ice already, Schmidty. But we are so excited to make
this happen. It is our Freeze the Moments contest right
now where you could have one of these incredible pieces
of art from Randy Finch and his amazing crew at
Ice Guru Events right there at your own grad.
Speaker 7 (29:39):
Party's so much fun.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
They are so much fun. So here's the deal. You
can get details right now at West Michigan Star dot com.
You can get yourself and your grad signed up. You
can also leave us a talk back on our iHeartRadio
app for a bonus chance to win. Shout out your
grad what kind of school they are graduating from? And
that could be you in Ice with the best in
(30:04):
West Michigan, Brandy Finch, which I believe, sir, you were
just kind of voted the best, right, well we.
Speaker 7 (30:10):
Got I don't know. I don't know. I wasn't part
of the voting. My mom was toughing the ballot.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Your good mom should Oh that's awesome, Randy. We will
look forward to seeing your next piece of art and
of course if you want to look at all the
things they are able to do for not only grad parties,
but events of all kinds. Ice Guru dot com. Randy,
thanks so much for joining us.
Speaker 7 (30:30):
Oh my pleasure. Thanks a lot.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Well, let's get some positivity worked into this Monday morning
for you. Feeling good on starting on five point seven?
What's up spinning?
Speaker 4 (30:37):
All right? Yesterday was Mother's Day and I hope that
you will get as much of a laugh out of
this woman as I did, because in actuality, we do
love you all and it's very nice that you do
your best to go above and beyond. But one day
out of three hundred and sixty five for us to
feel the pressure of figuring out what we want to
do has really been summed up by mom Cait Murray.
Speaker 9 (31:00):
And you're telling us to just relax and enjoy it.
What if some meat needs to be defrosted, when's that
going to go down? First of all, it would probably
take me three days alone in Bali to start to
feel relaxed, So don't be entirely surprised if I don't
feel refreshed after one day. If my kids bringing me
breakfast in bed, spoiler alert, I'm not even asleep. I'm
on a level ten alert listening to you carry food
(31:21):
in a hot beverage up the stairs to me, because
I've pretty much never seen you not spill something before.
Society throws this idea of relaxation on Mother's Day at us,
all all willy nilly, as if they've never even heard
of hypervigilance before. I'm saying here is if you want
us to relax, you better have your ducks in a row,
because Mom's We've been two steps ahead of everybody else
(31:42):
since day one.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
Amen's sister. My best favorite comments on this video normalize
sending mom to a hotel Friday through Sunday, be cars. Hey,
thanks for putting it in May, when every possible thing
is happening and there's no way to have nothing or
do nothing with school. I've never seen you not, Bill.
Something is so real and then it's so much pressure.
(32:04):
What do I want to do? I don't know. My
three hundred and sixty four other days of the year
are spent with what everyone else needs to do. So moms,
you are seen, you are heard, and we make the
world go round.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
My favorite part, honestly was her saying, what if some
meat needs to be defrost because.
Speaker 4 (32:19):
What's gonna happen? It's not gonna be defrosted.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Oh too good, I Benny. This is just cool to
see it. Anybody who's ever had to purchase a wheelchair
or just knows how expensive they can be, especially if
you've got a growing child where you might need multiple chairs. Well,
a New Orleans based design lab is doing something really incredible.
They're called make Good Nola, and they've created the world's
(32:44):
first fully three D printed wheelchair for kids age two
to eight, called Toddler Mobility Trainers. This is awesome and
it's made with regular three D printers too, costs so
much less than a regular wheelchair. It's modular so the
parts can be designed or replaced or adjusted without tools,
and the chair is designed by therapists, so it's really
(33:06):
helping these kids move independently. And best of all, Schmiddy,
they've been given these away for free. They have given
away over sixteen hundred adaptive devices to families at zero cost,
and they also plan to share the design for free,
so anybody with a three D printer can actually make
one wherever they're at across the world. People can even
(33:28):
still request a free chair from Make Good Nola, and
pretty soon custom versions can be made for people on
the waiting list too. So I mean just giving back
for free to kids who could really use. Feeling good
comes at you a couple times a day. I always
want to point out great people and things do, great
people in organizations doing amazing things out there. We'll do
it again to Mirile six forty five and nine to
(33:48):
twenty here on Star Mack
Speaker 3 (33:49):
And Schmidty in the morning weekdays starting at six am
on Star one oh five point seven
