(00:02):
Wake up. It gets my daygoing. It makes me laugh. It
mac INSCHMITTI in the morning on Starone oh five point seven, Come on
in SCHMITTI, Oh, good morning, Happy weekend, deve. I look
forward to that. By the way, on Thursdays, just I never think
(00:22):
about it. You always came outwith it right away. Just hit me
with the weekend even I'll be honest, I look more forward to Friday.
But maybe that's just me. Maybethat's just me. Not take away from
a Thursday, but I'm pretty moreexcited for the next day, movies,
music, and all the gossip inone place. It's the celebrity scoop on
Star one oh five point seven.Well, no doubt this has a big
(00:46):
part of her ageless beauty. Supermodel, television host, and entrepreneur Tyra Banks
just had her first ever alcoholic beverageas an adult to ring in the Big
five Oh. The super model sittingdown with People magazine to talk about turning
fifty and said she wanted to beher most authentic self as she celebrated the
(01:07):
milestone, but was inspired to trysome new things, so she spent her
special day enjoying a seaplane adventure withher mom and best friend. They went
out to dinner and she had analcoholic beverage, but it wasn't really everything
it was cracked up to me.She thought it was not worth it and
actually nasty. Tyra has famously chosento live a sober lifestyle. She's avoided
(01:29):
drugs and alcohol throughout her entire career. In fact, she had a sip
of alcohol when she was twelve andhas not touched it since. On the
topic of turning fifty, she saysit's also not what she thought it would
be telling people. I figured I'dhave little glasses, a quilt on my
lap and just watch soap operas allday. Boy, was I wrong.
What my life is like now istotally different. I'm popping. I'm not
(01:52):
insecure about myself. It feels really, really good. I mean, that's
fascinating to me to have, youknow, not ever ever had a drink,
and your supermodel, given her careerat social and the places that you
wind up, that's incredible. Don'texpect both of Tiger Woods's kids to be
all hype on his golf game. It's actually become quite an issue between him
(02:15):
and his daughter Sam. Tiger actuallysat down with Carson Dally for the third
hour of Today yesterday talking about whythat's happened. She has, I think
a negative connotation to the game becauseat that time, you know, hey,
growing up that when she was growingup, golf took Daddy away from
(02:37):
her. I had to pack andI had to leave, and I had
to golf for weeks, and there'sa negative connotation to it. So we
developed our own relationship and on rapportthat's outside of golf, that we do
things that is done involved golf.Meanwhile, my son and I we do
everything golf related. It's just verydifferent. But it's really cool though then
to know that she gave his speechat the Hall of Fame induction back in
(02:59):
twenty twenty two. Given this, she's still very proud of dad obviously,
and you know what a cool wayof kind of Tiger just sort of accepting
that is, like she doesn't likealf and I can completely understand why.
Finally, I love this story.Shaquille O'Neill talking about his frequent peticures and
the big reason behind them. Hewas on The Big Podcast with Shaq talking
(03:22):
about how much money he drops onthese special petties. I give up about
one thousand dollars because I know myfeet stink. I know they're ugly,
and I like to paint them.So all the stuff that's going on,
I paint because it's ugly. Iwanted to look pretty stop right there,
Okay, that's why I paint myAnd then true story, one time I
had a toenail that was torn offand I want on playing the game.
My mom was like, babe, whit you not playing the games? I
(03:44):
tored my tonell off, So shedid something and then she put like some
red pilots on the thing. AndI have forty that game. So I
was like, you know, I'mgonna just start painting my tone. So
pedicures are the reason Shaquille O'Neil isthe star he is today. He also
says his favorite kind of design includessparkles and things that really pop off.
You know, judging by surface areaof feet, I think a thousand bucks
(04:05):
is about right for Shaquille O'Neil sizetwenty three monster plants. Every man should
be getting petticures. By the way, all of your celib scoop at West
Michigan Star dot Com sometimes does thatget a good feeling just looking to get
this day off to a great startfor you, feeling good on starminal five
points. Yeah, but it's backin Schmidty, And you know, I
(04:27):
feel bad because apparently one of thetop brunch spots in all of America,
Schmidty is sitting right here in WestMichigan, and I hadn't even heard of
it. I have never been there. Have you gone to Little Lucy's Cafe?
So good? Yeah, goodness,I didn't even know this, But
a big, big recognition for Lucy'sbecause yelp, of course everyone's favorite place
(04:48):
to either praise or complain. Comecreated a list of America's best brunch spots,
and the Cafe Grand Rapids came intwelfth out of the entire country.
To put that into perspective for you, there's not a single other restaurant in
the entire state of Michigan that ison this list, but Lucy's is there.
(05:10):
It was originally built and operated allthe way back in nineteen fifty nine
by David Dane and his brother inlaw, Simon Vanderkooy. Well, back
in seventy eight they changed it toDamiko's Food Mart. It was open for
like thirty three years, but thenclosed down in twenty eleven before being brought
back to life by Vander Cooey's children. Really cool. Brian and Jan put
(05:30):
it back together, re renovated thespace and brought it to life, and
Little Lucy's Cafe has been there sincetwenty sixteen. But yeah, if you
haven't been like me, gotta gocheck it out. It's right on Plainfield
if you're going from downtown towards Plainfield. It's the one that has no parking
ever because it's so popular, sogood. So we've been talking a lot
(05:51):
about the incredible Devas family after thebig news yesterday that the Richard and Helen
de Voss Foundation had announced its sunsettingafter more than fifty years and more than
one billion dollars in philanthropy, Andthat's when the story started to come out.
And this one has always grabbed myattention and I've listened to it.
(06:13):
You can't drive on the Medical Milein grend Rapids without noticing a lot of
buildings with the Devas name on it. And rich DeVos first met his longtime
friend and cardiologist, doctor Richard McNamarain none other than the emergency room seat.
Rich had suffered from heart disease andthe co founder of Amway was having
his second heart attack, and thisnear death event proved to be one of
(06:36):
a blessing because this friendship turned intosomething incredible that has brought us unbelievable heart
and lung care in West Michigan.Doctor McNamara actually sat down with Fox seventeen
talking about that moment he realized howchallenging this surgical fix was going to be
for mister Devas. He was planningon building sale boats so that he could
(06:58):
travel around the world, and Iwas on him maybe not surviving for another
couple months. I'd say that wasthe beginning of a miracle. DeVos was
in his sixties with a large rightventricle, a long history of heart surgeries,
and a very rare AB positive bloodtype. But they found a doctor
in the United Kingdom that wanted totake a chance on this unbelievable surgery,
(07:21):
and the surgery was a giant success. Mister Devas did not forget that,
and that's when he started meeting withthe minds that would create what the medical
mile is today. It's just oneof those unbelievable stories. As of twenty
twenty two, twenty one heart transplantsforty three lung transplants a year, and
(07:46):
just last Tuesday they had their twohundred and sixteenth heart transplant. They're changing
lives on that mile. I meanunbelievable to think the saving of one life
save so many others. Feeling goodcomes at you twice today. I always
want to point out the great thingsgoing on out there, and we'll do
it again for a little later onthis morning nine twenty Here on Star on
a five point seven movies, musicand all the gossip in one place.
(08:07):
It's the Celebrities Goop on Star oneoh five point seven WNBA star Britney Griner
is speaking out for the very firsttime, detailing both the physical and mental
anguish she suffered during her time ina Russian prison in a new twenty twenty
interview that aired on ABC last night. One of the more emotional moments was
(08:33):
when she considered taking her own lifeon multiple occasions, spending almost three hundred
days in Russian custody. She'd beendetained back in February of twenty twenty two,
and then sentenced to nine years inprison after authorities found cannabis oil in
her luggage. She tells Robin Roberts. I wanted to take my life more
than once in those first weeks.I just felt like leaving here so badly.
(08:56):
I didn't think I could get throughwhat I needed to get through.
I definitely thought about it, butthen I figured, what if they didn't
release my body to my family,I can't put them through that. I
have to somehow endure this. Shealso talks about one of the lasting issues,
and that's the guilt. She continuesto feel. You felt that you
(09:18):
let down yourself, your family, your teams. So how did you work
through that what you called the guiltthat you were feeling. Oh, I
don't think I really Uh, Idon't think I've really gotten through all the
way. At the end of theday is my fault, and I'll let
(09:39):
everybody down. It's really hard towatch. She also mentions fellow American Paul
Wheeland, who is still in Russiancustody, and how badly she wished both
of them could have left that countrytogether. To imagine being locked up abroad
with a giant language barrier, everythinghappening around you diplomatically, and you're just
a lowe in your thoughts for threehundred days, not totally alone. So
(10:03):
you've got to listen to the interview. She praises her cellmate Alana while also
giving an idea of just how brutalthose work camps are. West Michigan Star
dot Com for the full interview.Jamie Lynn Spears has seen the Brittany trash
talking video. I had this inscoop yesterday. Brittany was on some kind
of jungle Safari where in the middleof her Instagram story she starts calling her
(10:26):
little sister a bunch of pretty nastynames and making fun of her time on
I'm a celebrity to get me outof here. But apparently it's not really
affecting Jamie Lynn. Sources that areclose to her say, hey, she's
good with all of the smack talkbecause you know what that means. Brittany
is still alive, and she maintainsthat that is what she most of all
(10:46):
cares about, trying to get herhealthy, repair that relationship, and as
long as Britney's still breathing, thereis a chance that they can mend their
way. I mean, which isa great but that's just a sad thought
to have to have. Yeah,it doesn't what she's doing. I'm just
happy she's a lot. Kim Kardashianback on the markets, officially calling it
quits with NFL star Odell Beckham Junior. The two have decided to go their
(11:09):
separate ways because they're better as friends. We've seen quite a bit of them
together since about September of last year, but the most recent semipda was at
the Big Beyonce and Jay z Oscarsafter party. Sources say no bad blood
or anything like that. They're justfar better platonically, and with everything Kim
(11:31):
has going on, especially with herbusiness, she just feels better being single
right now. Well, you know, I didn't even put it together.
I know that, you know,Taylor Swift and Kim kind of feuding there
one Scott her NFL boyfriend, andthe other one no longer does all of
your celebt scoop at West Michigan Stardooka BACKACHEVIITTI and you mentioned being embarrassed by
(11:52):
things you no longer how to do. I'm not embarrassed. I'm surprised at
how many people feel like I shouldbe embarrassed by the So I was actually
gonna talk about Mother's Day gifts becauseI heard the funniest advertisement when I was
admire. A couple days ago, over there loudspeakers, they were talking about
Mother's Day coming up and the bestpossible gift you could give mom is a
(12:16):
Mother's Day Forever stamp, obviously, and I was like, listen, I'm
gonna start by saying, I knowthat there are stamp collectors out there,
and it is a wonderful hobby, and this is no judgment on that whatsoever,
but do not give your mom astamp for Mother's Day? Why not
Mother's Day, Christmas, Birthday? We're not doing stamps, you guys.
(12:37):
Out of people in my life whohave sent me the most letters, it's
always a mom no, not forme. So I posted this video and
at the end of it, Isaid, I'm not looking for a stamp.
If I can be entirely honest,y'all, I don't know how to
use a post office. Wow.Did I ignite something? The amount of
people in my DMS that are likeyou should be sombatter that you don't know
(13:01):
how to use a post office. What have you never been to a post
office? The post office is reallyimportant. You should take that back.
First of all, I do thinkthe post office is very important, and
I respect our feels. I'm I'mone of those people that puts like snacks
and gatorades on my front porch whenit's ninety plus degrees in the summertime,
especially when I used to live inthe city of gr and they got to
(13:24):
walk everywhere. I just understand thatI do. However, can I go
in and ship a package? No? I tried it once and it was
so overwhelming and intimidating. And Iwon't say which post office it was,
but the employees were not very kind. I even had someone come at me
and say, SCHMIDI you should becareful. You're looking like a really dumb
(13:45):
blonde because I don't know how touse a post office like I don't mail
letters. I don't mail cards.I'm sorry, I'll call you, but
I don't. I don't really usethe mail. I pay my bills online.
You know who I blame for this. I blame Amazon, because that's
now, by and large, thepackage sending experience that most of us are
(14:07):
having way more often. I haven'tbeen inside of a post off more than
like once to twice a year.In a decade. I go into the
post office probably eight to ten timesa month. What because I drop off.
My package is in the bin.I never it comes self postaged.
It comes if you have like aclothing subscription box. I do Stitch Fixed.
(14:28):
They send you everything you need andthen you just pop in and put
it in the USPS box. Thatis all I know how to do with
a post office. Well at thispoint then I'm kind of getting on everyone
else's side on this one. Smiddy, What the heck? How difficult is
it to just walk up and askthe questions and just be like, is
this not the right size box?Okay, I'll get this different one.
Go ahead, stop into a postoffice and try it, because they look
(14:50):
at you like you're dumb, likeyou are entitled and you don't know how
to I tried. I tried toship a gift to someone and they were
like, well, that's not theright box, and they weren't really helpful
on which box I could have. Then I asked if they would package it
for me. They will not. They will not do that anymore. So
it's like, okay, I'm justgoing to order something online and have the
(15:13):
online seller ship it to my friend'splace. So yes, I'm sorry everyone.
I'm not very well versed in usinga post office. But I bet
there's other stuff that you guys don'tknow how to use. You know,
it's Thursday, it's not Tuesday.I really didn't think we were getting they
really stuff, you know. Ithought, like the post office at Michigan
right downtown, lovely, lovely. But will I go in there now?
(15:35):
I'm too intimidated now. They scaredme one time, and I don't know
how many stamps you're supposed to puton stuff. I think the last time
I did a bulk mailing were mywedding invites, and for the record,
I postaged them wrong and they mademe do it all over again. So
if you want to come at me, that's just fine. You could do
it in my DMS, because Idon't know how snail mail works. Starting
out five point seven, it's Macand Schmidty throwing it back for Tim mcgrantik,
(15:58):
it's what year was it? Uh? Money, we're good stands the
way you do it, money,Let's you threw them get the one in
the middle, right, hit theone in the middle. That's a power.
(16:25):
Hello, Hello, anybody home?Hive man. You know we had
Rocky in there, Biff Tan andlots of things today High Star who's this,
Stacy? Where you are today?M kegan? All right, Stacey,
what year was it? Nineteen eightyfive? Stacy, you are a
(16:47):
certified eighties lover? Indeed, nineteeneighty five. How'd you know? I
cheated? I googled it. Youdon't have to be honest. You're already
getting those heaven and these Tim mcgrantickets. Congratulations, that's my birthday.
(17:07):
Oh wonderful, happy early birthday.Nobody's gonna top this gift. Oh,
thank you so much, thank youso much. You are so welcome.
Stacy. Happy early birthday to youas well. And you know we'll be
hooking you up with more of theseTim mcgrad tickets. But every week we
hook you up with what year wasit? Each and every Thursday, seven
forty five, you're on Star Movies, Music and all the gossip in one
(17:32):
place. It's the celebritiescoop on Starone oh five point seven. Wow,
Monique once again slamming Oprah and TylerPerry, reigniting that year's long feud between
the pair, using some exceptionally raciallycharged language. The comedian hit the stage
(17:53):
during comedian Kat Williams's latest stop. She has been touring with him as one
of his accompany as when she wenton quite the tirade, shouting, bleep
you Oprah Winfrey, bleep you TylerPerry, And it got to the point
where even the crowd seemed to bea little uncomfortable with how intense she was
(18:14):
getting. That's when she actually calledout one of the audience members and asked
if he was an Oprah Winfrey fanand how to get her quote back to
black. I love that black simpleminded, and we just need to bring
her back to black. Are youa Oprah Winfrey saying yes, okay,
(18:37):
well I'm not apologizing. I calledher raggedy simple minded. She questioned Oprah's
relationship with Gail King and eventually justsaid she is too old to be scared
of that woman, too old tobe intimidated by her, too old to
hold her truth. Remember this feudactually dates back to two thousand and nine.
(18:59):
She says both Tyler and Oprah blackballedher in Hollywood after she refused to
do certain press events for their filmPrecious. It got really really nasty.
I mean, was she trying toout Kat Williams. Cat Williams, because
that's who I feel like normally doesstuff like, we have a very long
time to get all of that languageremoved, you guys, and I couldn't
(19:19):
even get all of it. DanSchneider is now going to sue producers of
that shocking documentary Quiet on Set TheDark Side of Kids TV, claiming they
defamed him by falsely portraying him asa child abuser at Nickelodeon and ruining his
reputation. He just filed that defamationsue, slamming both the docuuseries and its
(19:42):
creators, taking on Warner Brothers,Discovery, Maxine Productions, and Sony Pictures
TV. He says they falsely impliedhe abused kid actors who used to work
on his shows back in the day. Dan's lawyer blasting Quiet on Set as
a hit job. He was partof big shows like The Amanda Show,
Drake and Josh, Zoey one Oone, and I Carly during his tenure
(20:06):
there, and the suit claims thathe was lumped in with other convicted offenders
who worked on the same shows, but he did none of those things.
It's interesting because while this guy seemsvery likely to be just a huge creep,
at the same time, Matty,I think he's got a pretty good
case. I'm not I haven't seenright like the evidence here, and I
(20:30):
think what will make a big differenceis if kids start to come forward.
I think Drake has done a lotfor people to go. Oh, maybe
I can shed light on what happenedduring my time as a kid star.
Finally, Taylor Swift less than impressedwith her boyfriends Cringey Aviva las Vegas.
So the pair were out in Vegasfor Patrick Mahomes's charity event over the weekend.
(20:55):
A few videos from the night havegone viral, including Travis Kelcey on
stage once again yelling is now signatureViva Las Vegas. Then you can see
Taylor turn and mouth something to afriend. Well expert lip reader Jackie Gonzalez,
who goes by it's me Jackie gon Instagram has supposedly decoded it that
(21:21):
again since I can't do it,not again, I can't do it.
You need to stop with the VivaLas Vegas man. Honestly, it was
cringey during the Super Bowl speech. It's just as cringe now. I think
it's cute. If it's Travis, you can do whatever you want. Tea
all of your celeb scoop at WestMichigan Star dot com Stamino Fu points seven.
Let's do this. Let's get youout for some playoff hockey. This
(21:41):
Battle of the Sex is here onstarleto FM points seven. Mack and Schmidty
with you. The series is tiedto one to one against the Rockford Ice
Hogs, and we're trying to getyou into Friday night's game three Iceford Rockford
ice Hogs going down. I'm manifestingit right now in today's number one answer,
grabs you tickets one. One hundredwomen surveyed, Name a place where
(22:03):
you see bunk beds? Oh,my husband's deer camp and I use I
refuse to sleep on them. Myfirst thought was jail rather be outside?
All right? Six one, six, four, five eight to one oh
five seven call her seven. Firstchance at the number one answer. One
hundred women surveyed. Name a placewhere you see bunk beds and you could
be going to Griffin playoff hockey withStars. Good morning Star. Who's this?
(22:29):
This is Renee? Renee? Whereare you calling from today? Colin?
All right, Renee, let's seeif we can get you to a
Griffin's playoff game. You gotta tellme one hundred women ask to name a
specific place where you might see abunk bed. What do you think?
Their top answer is Renee, areyou think bunk bed is in the U
and k bed? Yes? Yes, I would say like a cabin that
(22:53):
you rent, a cabin that yourent. I'll throw that one under summer
camp, which is two most commonanswer. I'm sorry, thank you,
thank you, Hi Star. Who'sthis from Kentwood? Gerry from Caentwood.
Brenne from hollyw just gave me areally good answer, but it was the
(23:14):
number two most common answer. Onehundred women were asked to name a specific
place where you're likely to see bunkbeds and she said, she said in
a cabin And I rolled that intosummer camp, which was the number two
most common answer. So what doyou think it is? I'm thinking a
kid's bedroom, you're thinking a kid'sbedroom. I was hoping that people wouldn't
(23:36):
necessarily just jump right to the obviousone. But there's a very important question
I have to ask you right now, Carriet, are you top bunk or
bottom bunk? Oh? How wasthe top bunk? And my sisters used
to climb up with me and pushme out multiple times. What was the
age difference between you and your sister? We were exactly two years apart.
(24:00):
Yeah, that tracks. That's howmy kids are, and that's definitely a
move they would pull, for sure. I like it. Carry Oh,
there you go. Congratulations, you'regoing to see the Grand Rappids Griffins tomorrow
night. That's perfectly thank you.Yeah, they need your help too.
Series tied one to one against theRockford Ice Hogs, but hopefully they can
break that time get the win tomorrownight Van Andel Arena, and your last
(24:21):
chance of tickets will be tomorrow thesame time, just after eight fifteen.
Battle of the Sexes. Here onStar Smack and Schmitty, whether you're doing
it on a full stomach or anempty one, because I want to talk
to you about breakfast, Smitty, the least desirable meal of the day.
Interesting because I want you know youand I are in similar situations and that
(24:41):
you know our schedule is just alittle bit different than your average person who
you know wakes up and they getto go and eat breakfast and all the
other stuff. They're not immediately justgo, go go. But I don't
eat breakfast either. No, likemy wife and I were just talking about
this because you know, we're alltry and make, you know, healthy
lifestyle changes. And one of thethings I was trying was intermitt and fasting.
And you go back and forth onwhether or not it's any good,
(25:03):
but I was basically starting the dayin that fast. I would drink black
coffee and then I really wouldn't eata meal until the afternoon. Well,
my doctor felt differently about that idea. Yeah, yeah, and you should
definitely get the metabolism work. Youdon't bring anything to work coworkers do.
I mean, I guess I gothrough I go through fits and starts of
trying different things, whether it begranola bars or I did a long kick
on apples where I would eat anapple every morning, but I just can't
(25:26):
stick with it. And meanwhile,my wife over there, Miss Goodie two
shoes, has been eating the exactsame breakfast every day for years without fail.
I mean outside of the occasional youknow, special breakfast three eggs and
avocado every single morning, which isfabulous. But we can't do that.
I mean, I imagine somebody like, well, we we did. We
(25:49):
had coworkers here before you, andlet me tell you the hall we did
not smell good, but I justdon't, So you don't eat anything either,
Like you're you break your fast ifyou will just later on in the
day. We have an even breakfastsince I was in grade school. See
that's really good school. But yeah, I feel like I used to eat
cereal every day as a kid.Now nothing near that. But like when
(26:11):
you ask people, they have hardcoretraditions on it. For the most part,
listen to egg whites, two slicesof turkey bacon, and a pack
of one hundred calorie better oats, apple and cinnamon oatmeal. I eat it
because it's super easy. What aboutthat sounds easy to you? Spitber Well,
she's got those oats. People swearby those. She goes. I
like it because it's healthy and itfits into my macros. As soon as
(26:32):
you insert terminology into the conversation,I'm gone, I'm lost. I'm just
trying to pick a piece of food. If you're healthy and skinny, tell
me all about it. Make itfor me, but tell me all about
it too. Many people are likethis, though, like Leanne who said,
typically a protein bar and a dietcoke because I can eat it on
my drive to work. That's theboat. I feel like a lot of
us are in. It's just hard. It's hard. Don't feel bad.
Whatever, feed yourself at like threepm. I eat like eight meals at
(26:56):
that point. All right? Whatis it that you actually why do you
choose what you eat for breakfast everymorning? Is it a thing? We've
got this going on Facebook right nowat West Michigan Star sometime. Does that
get a good feeling? All right? You may have mixed feelings on Dave
(27:17):
Portnoy, the president and CEO ofBarstool Sports, but you can't deny that
he puts a lot of good intoa lot of good places. And that
was the surprise yesterday. See onething that Portnoy is very passionate about rescue
animals. Ever since he rescued hispit bull mix, Miss Peaches, who
(27:37):
was also quite an Internet celebrity, and has been raising funds for different animal
shelters. He finds all across thecountry that are in desperate need of funding,
and one of those animal rescues isBeacon Animal Rescue in New Jersey.
He heard about it, saw thegood that they do. How long they've
been around trying to find forever homesfor our furry friends and gave as a
(28:00):
prize phone call to their CEO.Hey, Jillian's me and Miss Peaches.
Oh my heart is literally beating throughmy chest like my cry. So we
did the research on Beacon and meand Miss Peaches want to help. Oh
I can't. I here's my dogbehind me. I love that. That's
what we want, so and wedo all the research. Looks like that
(28:22):
you guys have been around for along time and do a great job.
So we're happy to help and getyou guys back in and dogs and everything
squared away. So we'll follow up. I'll fall up with his emails.
Just get the best way to getyou the funds and they'll be there asap.
So this is where Miss Peaches alsocomes in. Dave has a line
of Miss Peaches merchandise and one hundredpercent of those profits go to dog rescues
(28:45):
and shelters. Huge proponent of adopt, don't shop, and another shelter is
about to see that good work. Not to mention, he is one of
the most followed celebrities online, sohe tends to raise quite a bit of
money. You know what, you'reright, troversial person that you have a
tendency to love or hate. Butman, every time he does something like
this, it just makes me likehim a little bit more. Tower to
(29:06):
tower police officers. I mean,he's a passionate guy. Sch BEI.
This is a crazy story out ofGlendale, Wisconsin, as an eighth grade
student is being hailed a hero afteraverting potential disaster while riding the school bus.
Stories like this always scare the heckout of me. But I was
just about a week ago that AcHolland third was recounting the moment that he
(29:30):
saw trouble was brewing on the busas they were headed home. He said,
they were going down the road andI noticed the bus veering off course.
I glanced up from my phone andsaw the driver wasn't moving. When
she missed my stop and her headdropped, I knew something was wrong.
Without hesitation, Acy jumps up,maneuvered the driver's foot off the accelerator,
(29:52):
slammed on the brakes, and hesaid, in that moment, fear grip
me, but I knew I hadto keep everyone safe. He actually called
nine to one one right there andthen instructed all the younger kids on there
to contact their parents. As thedriver wound up regaining consciousness, ambulances were
on their way, Asy insured propercommunication with dispatch the whole time, and
(30:12):
he said, you know what, when something's going wrong, you just got
to step up and do something.I was focused on, like just trying
to get the bus to stop andmake sure everybody was okay. If it's
something that got to be done, don't be scared to do it. Don't
be scared to do it, iswhat he had to say. And his
principal at schools, Principal Anna Youngof Glenn Hill's Middle School, says this
is the kind of behavior she expectsfrom Acy. Him stepping up to the

plate and making sure that others okayspeaks to the compassion that I see him
exhibit every day here. Obviously, everyone thankful for his quick actions, especially
the parents and the kids that wereon that bus during such a scary situation.
