It gets my day going and makesme lab it Mac and Schmitty in the
morning on Star one o five pointseven, Good morning to Y Schmitty,
Good morning. Welcome into Friday,TG I F And every time I say
that, I think of Steve Berkele, I think of Tapanga Corey. Yeah,
(00:28):
that'll always be just burned into mysoul every single Friday till the end
of time. I hope you're gettinga better start to your morning. Then,
I man, oh man, bigstorms over night last night. Anybody
else sleep with a shivering dog ontheir face from about ten pm until two
am? Or was that just me? You know? Actually it was the
opposite for me, because my dognormally sleeps it like the foot of our
(00:52):
bed. But because our windows wereopen last night and the storm was going,
he I tailed it out of theirimmediately. It would take that.
No, mine's got to be bootyon my face, dogs and kids,
movies, music and all the gossipin one place. It's the celebrities group
on Star one oh five point seven. Well, we've seen Ryan Gosling in
(01:14):
numerous different roles, but when itcomes to those darker movies, he's taken
a big step back. Talking withThe Wall Street Journal. He explains he's
simply not taking certain roles that hefeels are too dark or psychologically screwy,
because accepting that kind of work ultimatelyhas an impact at home with both Eva
(01:36):
Mendez and their kids. He's consideringwhat sorts of parts and movies will now
be good for his entire family, and he plans to dive into stuff he
thinks will help him bond with hispartner and two daughters. He said this
actually started to become a conversation forhim when he was working on La La
Land, adding it'll be fun forthem too, because even though they're not
(01:57):
coming to set, we're practicing pianoevery day, we're dancing, we're singing.
It really brought us together, andthat's the only work he wants from
here on out. That's an interestingreason. I honestly didn't see that coming,
that it was affecting his family life. The roles he chose because I
like him in intense roles. Ilike him in those psychological Yeah. Have
(02:17):
you ever listened to an interview withKillian Murphy. I have not. He
says the same thing. He's like, when you're in these really dark places,
it's hard to separate yourself, andthen you go home to your family
and they're like, hey, man, maybe we need to talk about what
kinds of things you're doing in Hollywood. What are the weirdos like Christian Bale
do the method actors? You knowwhat I mean. Ryan Reynolds doubling down
(02:38):
on his investment in both the sportsand super hero world, and he's thinking
fans. So Ryan has an investmentfirm called Maximum Effort. Big announcement yesterday
he has dropped some major dough tobecome a leading investor in Homage. It's
a sports apparel company that specializes inthen vintage style material. So he is
(03:02):
thrilled about this new addition, andhe says he's going to be doing things
for both his Wrexham AFC group aswell as repping gear for his Marvel movies
like Deadpool, well know Marvel DCtogether like Deadpool. The action movie star
says he sees a ton of opportunityin sports apparel, but also plans to
(03:22):
be a creative force behind this,a super hands on partner. People love
this company. They have done allof the vintage style merch for the NBA,
the NFL, the WNBA, MLB. They have a whole WWE line,
and he's really excited that now hecan kind of expand that into the
superhero world. Guarantee, there's afuture scoop story coming your way about how
(03:44):
Ryan Reynolds sells his portion of thisfor over a billion dollars. Because that's
what happens to everything. This guytouches his alcohol brand, his phone company
for the reason, so he keepsthem like he keeps them in racks in
the money, all right. KateHudson made her television debut last night,
performing for the first time as asinger on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon
(04:04):
and come at me for this.I think it sounds really good. Check
(04:27):
I love it. That is gooto find out it's from her upcoming debut
album, Glorious. I want toI want to say, no, okay,
that's on the Stay Out of You. But that was fun. I
told you, I love it.All of your celeb Scoop I got her
whole performance too, West Michigan Stardot Com. Sometimes I get a good
feeling. Let's dive into some positivity. Feeling good. I'm starting on five
(04:48):
points seven. It's Mack and Schmidee. And if you know, if you're
an animal lover like us, thisstory, you'll find it amazing too.
You may have even seen it overthe last twelve to twenty four hours because
it's been everywhere, but scientif usworking in Indonesia have observed an orangutane intentionally
treating a wound on their face witha medicinal plant Schmidti. This is the
(05:10):
first time this behavior has ever beendocumented in an animal. For the orangutang's
name is Racis. He's a malesumatran or rangutang, and he treated the
wound on his face by chewing leavesfrom a climbing plant nam a car cutting
and repeatedly then applied the juice toit. According to a paper published by
the Journal of Scientific Reports, itjust came out yesterday. There's actually video
(05:32):
of the orangutang doing this, andit is wild. You can tell that
Racus is doing this with intention.I mean he chews up the leaves and
then applies it directly to the wounds. The lead author in this study,
Isabel Lumer, told CNN the teamvery excited by these observations. This is
possibly innovative behavior, presents the firstreport of active wound management with a biological
(05:55):
active plant in a great ape species. I think it's crazy to think about
just you know, in a rangetang, just using medicine, medicinal plan.
I'll sciencey this morning, all right, I will say this too. The
skeptic in me says, wait asecond. That new Planet of the Apes
movie comes out next week. They'vebeen doing some really interesting marketing for that
thing. I think the timing's alittle slash shirty. That's I'm saying.
(06:15):
All right. My feeling good isa really cool shout out to American Airlines.
So one of my best friends,Megan, posted this on her Insta
story last night. I saw itthis morning. She got a letter in
the mail yesterday and attached to itwas her suitcase luggage tag, and the
note, handwritten said, Hi,I work for American Airlines and we recently
(06:38):
found your luggage tag on the tarmac. We love custom tags and try to
return them whenever we can. Thestrap was gone, so I enclosed a
zip tie as a sturdy attachment option. Safe travels to you and yours,
Signed Randy from the Phoenix Tag team. Here's what she wrote. She said,
unbelievable service. What a surprise tofind this in the mail today.
(07:00):
Even more unbelievable is that I havenever flown through or even been to Phoenix.
I have no idea how my tagwould have wound up on that tarmac.
I did, however, have avery damaged bag from a different airline
when I went to Austin over ayear ago. That is wind. I
just think that's so nice, andwe hear so many tough stories about airlines
(07:25):
that Randy from the Phoenix tag teamthat even gave her a zip tie to
make sure she could put it backon her suitcase, not found her address,
wrote I had wrote a letter andsent it back to her. I
thought that was so kind American.Nice job, Randy, the hero.
We didn't know we needed body. That is awesome. Feeling good comes at
you twice today. I always hereto point out cool things going on out
(07:46):
there, even when they happened atthe airport, which is rarity for sure.
But we'll do it again for youthis morning coming up at nine.
Swanna here on Stalin o fon pointseven movies, music and all the gossip
in one place. It's the celebrityScoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Okay, there is a lot ofbreaking this morning with Britney Spears,
who allegedly got into a massive fightwith her boyfriend late Wednesday night into early
(08:11):
Thursday morning. It ended up soout of control she was almost driven away
in an ambulance. So Brittany gotto the Chateau Marmont late late late Wednesday
night with her boyfriend, Paul Salise, and there was some kind of disturbance.
Someone called police, claiming a womanmatching Britney's description was harassing and threatening
hotel employees and guests. Officers showedup, but they saw no signs of
(08:35):
trouble and left. Then a couplehours later, apparently Brittany and Paul continued
to party and hang out. Theygot into some kind of huge altercation that
sources say turned physical, and Brittanymay have even hurt her leg once again.
Apparently, employees say Brittany was screamingand out of control in the hallway
of her suite. Several guests thoughtshe might be having a mental breakdown,
(08:58):
so paramedics were called. Now atthe end of it, Brittany was seen
walking out of the hotel with apillow and blanket wrapped around her. She
looks like she's been crying from thepictures that have surfaced this morning, but
did not get into the ambulance. She ended up leaving with her security and
without Paul. So this is alot we're learning this morning. Next hour
(09:22):
in scoop, I'll tell you whatBrittany is saying about this. Did they
call this Paul guy her boyfriend?Yes, I'm just curious just because I've
never heard of this cat ever before. I don't think I heard the name.
I didn't know if they were officiallydating or what was happening there,
But it does not sound good.Actress and activist Mariska Hargita, of Course
(09:46):
Law and Order svu's Olivia Benson weighingin on the New York Court of Appeals
decision to overturn Harvey Weinstein's sex crimesconviction that was big news last week.
Well, yesterday, Hargatea accepted abig honor at Variety's Power of Women event
in New York thanks to her workas an advocate for survivors of assault,
and took a moment to acknowledge thereason she feels that conviction was overturned too
(10:11):
many women's voices were allowed to speak. Hallelujah Amen. I can't imagine anything
more beautiful than that. The DailyPodcast episode talked about how it was so
risky for the prosecution to have thatmany women testify, risky to let women
speak. You're damn right it is. She got very emotional. It's pretty
(10:33):
powerful, She continued on. Toomany women speaking brings change, It shakes
the establishment. Too many women meanswe get listened to more and people might
actually hear what we have to say. You can hear that passionate. Oh,
she's amazing. And finally, Beyoncehas found herself in the dictionary,
(10:54):
the French dictionary. That's right. The singer is one of forty no vable
names that have officially been put intothe Patse Larus Lustre. This is a
big, old, fancy French dictionarythat updates its contents every year. There's
actually a jury that votes on notablepeople that are recognizable in both the English
(11:16):
and French speaking world. By islisted as a proper noun described as an
American singer of R and B andpop. Now, some people had a
little issue since she's now singing country, but I think that they had just
voted on this before like her albumhad come out. It does note her
Louisiana Creole heritage, though she's joinedby other big names including Kate Blanchette,
(11:39):
director Christopher Nolan, and NBA starLebron James. Give me your best,
Beyonce in a French accent shimide.Oh no, I'm not going to do
that. I've never taken French.I'm a Spanish person in high school.
I no, no, no,exactly all of your celebscoop at West Michigan
Star dot Comy's speaking of water, your kids take it a little dip yesterday,
(12:00):
so I talked about this on theshow. Yesterday. We had our
very first swim lessons and I wasvery stressed about this as it was because
I have a six year old sonand a three year old daughter and I
was feeling really back. So I'mlike, man, we should have started
the sooner. You know this andthat. But they're very comfortable in the
water. They've been swimming in theirlife jackets for years. I just want
(12:20):
them to have exactly what they needto be safe in the water. So
we had our very first experience withswim lessons, and parents that have done
it before. What a world.I learned a lot in the thirty seven
minutes we spent at the Why lastnight. And I don't know if there
is a more vulnerable place to bea parent because there's so much going on
(12:45):
and it was awesome. The YMCAdid an amazing job. But they have
different classes all going on at thesame time. Yeah, and you've got
your like, you know, sixlevel kids who are totally independent learning the
backstroke and all this and doing laps. And then you've got you're like little
toddlers that for a lot of them, it's the first time in the water.
So you either have parents that arevery laid back and no, what's
(13:07):
up, this is not their firstrodeo, or as one little nugget and
Sophia's class was death gripping his dad'sshorts, like do not put me in
this water? And you feel becauseI mean he's shrieking, it's bouncing off
the walls of the pool. Peopleare trying not to look, and if
they are looking, they're like tryingto give that sympathetic look where it's I
(13:31):
know, we've been there, andthis dad is doing everything he can to
be as kind as possible and notdo the get in the pall. We
always get there. It's like anybody, you're gonna learn a lot, look
at your friends. Then you havethe other kids in the pool that see
this kid melting down, going isthere something we don't know? Like I
see Sophia starting to get out ofthe pool, like, will trust this?
(13:52):
I'm not trusting this. And thenyou're like, no, no,
no, stay in. You're great, You're great. And then you've got
parents with some of the older kidswho are messing around during their swim lessons,
and I hear a dad go,hey, one more time, one
more time, do it one moretime. The switch is gone for a
week. And you've got the momthat came up to one kid and I
(14:15):
just heard her go, I swearto the Lord, if you do not
sit on this ledge and pay attention, you will never see water again.
Like it's just so funny. AndI say this not in an insulting way.
I just didn't realize it was sucha community. I mean, we're
all there trying to do our best. And then at the very the very
end of Sophiel's lesson, we gether done, and then Will goes in.
(14:37):
He's stoked, right, he's readyto do all the things, and
some kid puked in the pool,so then they had to shut it all
down and and and everything for thenight, you know, because they've got
to be healthy about it. SoWill got like maybe four minutes of a
lesson. So he gets out absolutelydevastated. I was like, sorry,
buddy, that happens sometimes. We'regoing to be back next week. Don't
(15:00):
worry, he goes, I know, I'm just I mean, of course
Sophia got her lesson, and ifthat girl did not walk right by him
and go yep, it was justsuch a wild, wild night. And
I have never felt more in withmy people than at swim lessons. I
mean, you're a hundred percent right, like we all try and be.
You know, you get into thosebig group settings where you might be struggling,
(15:24):
maybe other parents are, maybe someare, and we all start off
with that very nice soft voice oflike, come on, bud, you
can heat your gentle parents fun.And then everyone knows it's not a ramp
up your gentle parenting ends. It'slike a brick wall and suddenly you have
these glaring eyes and you're like,I will take everything from you if you
do not get an apple. Imean, it's like the stages. You're
(15:45):
like, first, I'll go tobribery. It's like maybe we hit Frosty
Boy on the way home. Ifyou get in there and enjoy pool,
I yes, you won't need you. Do you like food? Because I'm
not feeding you if you don't getin that pool. And the worst part
is we're we're hoping it's not traumatizinglate in life, but it's like we
just don't want you to drown. We're literally doing this because we love you
and want to save your life andkeep you with us forever. What just
(16:07):
get in the pool. You knowthose parents that do the swim lessons when
their kids are like six months oldeighteen months, where they literally just toss
them in the pool. I neverunderstood that more than the first time I
took my kids to swim lesson time. I get it after last night,
I don't think there'd be even atinge of problem if I saw someone just
talk my kids and water go forit please, by all means they got
(16:30):
to learn sometime. I'm as wellbe now forget like the mom and me
classes. You all if you're tryingto meet parent friends and feel a part
of something swim lessons because we're alldoing the same thing and it's holding on
for dear life Back and Schmidty inthe Morning on Star one oh five point
seven, Time Spill and Sea TayTime spill the too, Sweetheart. That's
right, let's spill it, sweethearted. It is Tea Time on Friday's here
(16:52):
on Start five point seven. Wewant your drama, your gossip. We
keep you anonymous, but honestly, you guys bring it every week. This
is a really, really interesting onebecause reading through the comments on our Facebook
right now, it is pretty muchfifty to fifty on what you would do
here. Do you owe it toyour current partner to tell them about this?
We got an email that said,my buddy Greg quote unquote has reconnected
(17:15):
with his ex, also the motherof his daughter, but his current girlfriend
has no idea they're even speaking. He's been with his girlfriend for more than
two years, and the rest ofus think it's shady that he's not being
open about this. Greg says it'sfor Mother's Day and he doesn't even know
if it will stay amicable, butwe want to tell her. I mean
I have learned now from Tea Time. I have learned. By and large,
(17:38):
there is a huge swath of thepopulation. And I'm not saying they're
wrong at all. I think itis circumstance to circumstance. However, they
always just say the same thing, not your business, stay the hack,
guys, this time, not thistime. There are people really on either
side of this thing. A lotof you guys feel like, Okay,
(17:59):
it's of course, or something thathe should be doing is talking to the
mother of his child Mama. Yeah, but obviously something happened here if he's
been with someone for two years andhasn't been really speaking with his baby mama
and they're thinking it is really shady. I like Tiffany's she said, if
you want communication between you and mom, that's fine, but why does it
have to be secret. Sounds likehe's trying to see if baby Mama is
(18:22):
still available, all while still havingthe girlfriend as an option in case things
aren't good, because that's how ladiesthink. Tiffany, I agree, that's
real sketchy. But Rose Marie goes, there's a ton of people on here
seeing mind your own business. Whatif it was your sister or best friend
that was a woman, would yourresponse be the same or is it because
this is a dude. Yeah,I don't know there. For me,
I think about the dad aspect ofit, and I guess my first question
(18:45):
is is like what you been doingwith your kid? Has it been two
years of you basically being at leasta deadbee dad? Or is that I
only know this because I have asituation in one of our friend groups like
this. Yeah. No, he'sprobably a really great dad, but they
don't They won't communicate, like they'llhave the pass off with an aunt or
an uncle or a very good friendjust because they don't want their child to
(19:06):
see them fight or have that problem. Yeah, so not necessarily a deadbeat
dad. Hop sea he might bejust kind of avoiding the situation. But
I think it's really interesting the amountof people saying secrets kill relationships. I
think the friend group has to tellher if he's not going to they say,
gave him the chance, but ifhe's not going to tell her that
he's been communicating again. Also,if I was the girlfriend, i'd be
(19:26):
really happy to hear that. Doyou like ultimatum it to your friend?
Though? Do you got to goto him and be like you either tell
her or we gotta tell you man, that's him, one hundred percent ultimatum.
What do you think about this?Greg keeping a little secret from his
girlfriend of two years? I alsothink the fact they've been that together that
long is a big deal. Heresee it on Facebook at West Michigan Star.
Drop a comment is a pretty prettycontentious thing today. That's right way
(19:49):
and again at West Michigan Star. And you can only share your tea with
this too. We'll keep you anonymous, well disguise your voice, will change
your name. Whatever you need toshare that juicy with this again next week
Friday, you can hit us upat West Michigan Stock, Smoothies, Music
and all the gossip in one place. It's the Celebritiescoop on Star one oh
(20:12):
five point seven. So last hourin Scoop, I told you about this
issue at the Chateau Marmont for BritneySpears and her boyfriend Paul Salise, who
allegedly got into a big fight thatspun so out of control both police and
paramedics had to be called. Welllate last night, Brittany addressed the incident
and called it fake news. Shewent to Instagram saying I want to let
(20:37):
people know that news is fake.I'd like to respect at this time for
people to understand I'm getting stronger everyday. Truth sucks. Someone teach me
how to lie. I'm out here, reaching out, trying to do my
best. And she said, Iguess I'm just a girl, and I'm
can't say those words, and thenadded, I twisted my ankle last night
(21:00):
and paramedics showed up at my doorillegally. They never came in my room,
but I felt completely harassed. I'mmoving to Boston peace. I mean,
that was quite the string of consciousnessthere. I left about half of
it out. Yeah, there's youknow, there's nothing illegal about the paramedics
coming to your hotel room and knockingon the door. And it's not normal
(21:23):
to be walking out looking like you'vebeen balling your eyes out wall wearing pajamas
wrapped around a blanket. Nor shewasn't wearing pajamas, just a blanket and
pillow. If you missed the storylast hour, I've got some of the
pictures that surfaced overnight last night andher full response at West Michigan Star dot
com. Hallie Berry is passionate abouther menopause and is now talking about it
(21:47):
on Capitol Hill. The actress wasin DC yesterday surrounded by multiple US Senators,
including our very own Senator Dobbie Stabenow, looking at a bill that would
increase funding to be actual put towardsmenopause. She tells a story about just
going to her doctor. I wasat the doctor three days ago and I
(22:07):
wanted to talk to him about anissue. And I said to him,
you know why I'm having this issue? Right, And he says, yes,
I know. I said, tellme why am I having this issue?
He said, you tell me whyyou're having this issue. I said,
no, you tell me why I'mhaving the issue. And we went
back and forth. You tell me, you tell me, you told me.
I finally realized she wasn't going tosay it, so I thought,
okay, I have to do whatno man can do. I have to
(22:30):
say it. I said, I'min not a bad okay, and That's
why I'm having this issue. Halliesays, this is what so many women
are dealing with, physicians not wellversed in things, especially like menopause,
and a stigma surrounding it. Shewants to open up the conversation and hopefully
get this bill passed. It's calledthe Advancing Menopause Care and Midlife Women's Health
(22:55):
Act, and she is a strongproponent. Ah, clearly. I mean
I just imagine that doctor being like, no, I'm not falling into this
trap. Sorry, welcome to beinga woman that goes to any kind of
healthcare. And finally, Charles Barkleyis getting seriously trolled by the state of
Texas after dissing the city of Galveston. So the NBA legend was on TNT's
(23:18):
inside the NBA when Galveston came upand he claimed it had dirty a water,
which prompted a strong response. Thetwo actually went back and forth for
a bit online about it. NowGalveston has put up billboards around Texas that
say things like, Hey, Charles, come on down. Water's fine,
(23:38):
Love Galveston. Hey Charles, you'venever turned down any of our great food.
Love Galveston. And I think themost personal one, our water is
cleaner than your golf swing. Ooh, I go after I love it to
all of your Silip scoop. AtWest Michigan Star dot com, it's Mack
(23:59):
and sitting in this time to battle. Battle of the Sex is on this
Friday, and we want you tofight like. We want to see our
Griffins fight tonight in the AHL playoffs. Schmitty, Yeah, we have got
four tickets to Game three as ourGriffins take on the Rockford ice Hogs.
Heads up, if you're going tothe game tonight, get they're early,
they're doing a pig roast. Getit because of the ice Hogs out in
(24:22):
front of Vanandel's starting a five. It's gonna be really really fun. You
get today's number one answer. We'vegot those tickets for you. One hundred
men surveyed. Name an occasion you'dwear your lucky ndies? Well, every
day, it's a good day tobe lucky. Schmitty. I'd sports,
right, isn't it sports with dude? You know honestly, And I'm not
trying to call out my husband here. If you're just wearing undies, I'm
(24:42):
happy. That's that's great. Nocommando in your life. We don't want
that. No. Six, one, six, four, five, eight,
one oh five seven callers seven, first chance at the number one answer.
One hundred men surveyed. Name anoccasion you'd wear your lucky undies?
And you could be going to seeGriffin play off hockey to night with Star
Win five point seven, Good morning, Star. Who's this Samantha? Samantha?
(25:08):
Where you calling from today? Allright, Samantha, let's talk about
dudes in their underwear? Shall wegotta tell me? When one hundred guys
were asked to name an occasion whereyou might wear your lucky underwear, what
do you think their top answer was, Samantha, A sports game, sporting
events. Yeah, whether you're playingit or you're watching your favorite team,
(25:30):
sports and lucky underwear do go handin hand. However, that's the number
four most common answer today. I'msorry, thank you, thank you,
Hi Star. Who's this Melissa?Melissa? I just got a great guess
from Samantha, and I think shewent with the guests a lot of people
would go with. When one hundreddudes were asked to name an occasion where
they might be wearing their lucky underwear, She's set a sporting events and I
(25:53):
you know, when whether you're playingin it or watching in it, you
hear people about wearing their lucky draws. However, that was the number four
most common answers. You got achance here? What do you think it
is? How about birthday? Yourbirthday wearing them on your birthday. I
don't know if I need to belucky on my birthday I blow out the
candle for the wish of my birthday. That one's not on there. I'm
(26:14):
sorry, Melissa. Okay, thanks, Hi Star? Who's thish? Andrew?
Andrew? I got a couple ofgood guesses, but not the top
answer. One hundred guys were askedto name an occasion where you might wear
your lucky underwear. So far,I've heard sporting events, and I heard
your birthday. Sporting event was thenumber four most common answer, but not
the top one. So what doyou think it is? Oh? I
(26:34):
was going to take the port Iget the wedding wearing for your wedding.
Yeah, that's a good move. You know you want to be lucky when
you're headed into a marriage. Hopefullyit's going to last a while. But
that is the number five most commonanswer. Sorry, Andrew A Hi Star?
Who's this? Carrie? Hi?Carrie, Let's see if we can
get your tickets for the Griffins. One hundred guys were asked to name an
(26:55):
occasion for which you might wear yourlucky underwear, and so far, I've
heard a sporting events. Your wedding, and also birthday. None of those
were the top answer, though,So what do you think it is a
first date? A first date?Well, as long as the lucky draws
don't include not washing them, Ithink that's probably okay. Hot date is
the number one answer. Congratulations, you're going to the Griffins and rooting them
(27:21):
on the playoffs tonight. Congrats?Thank you. Yes, what a way
to walk into a Friday. Congratulations, guys, gonna be awesome Game three
with the Griffins tonight and you willbe there screaming like crazy for them.
Yes, we will. Thank you. You are very welcome. Of course,
Griffin's Game three tonight. Game fourwould be on the road this weekend,
(27:41):
and if we have a Game five, well they'd be coming back here
to West Michigan, and you knowwe'll try and get you into that one
too. Be listening Battle of theSexes each weekday eight fifteen here on Star
one oh five point seven. Goodmorning to you. It's Mack and Schmidty,
and it's experience of a feeling thatwe've all had before where you just
feel out of place, You feellike a giant fish out of water.
(28:03):
To turn a phrase, there Schmidty, and I want to know where are
some places that you felt that way, because we've all been in that spot
before. And for me, itis because my wife wants to take me
back to a yoga class, andthe idea of a yoga class, Smitty,
sounds awesome to me. I amthe world's least flexible human being.
I feel like my back is alwaystight. I could have wondrous things happened
(28:27):
in my life if I just didyoga. So everybody tells you, oh,
you should be doing yoga. Everyonetells me, my doctors tell me,
and you know what, I doit. Sometimes I do it at
home and I enjoy it. Ialways love it and I've wanted to take
more classes with it. But thelast time that we did this together,
I felt so awkward and I don'tknow if I can go back, because
it was at the YMCI and itwas like a beginner to intermediate yoga class
(28:51):
because again, I'm just not flexibledo the moves that I think I can
do. But I walk in andI'm the only dude there. There's about
fifteen to twenty people and I amthe only guy. And I thought to
myself, that doesn't really bother me. I'm a pretty comfortable person most of
the time. When I saw this, though, I was like, I
don't want to make anybody else uncomfortableand think like, oh, the only
guy in the class is like rightbehind me, he's so interesting or something
(29:14):
like that. And it's yoga classI've gone to. It has been like
fifty to fifty I don't know. And maybe that maybe a new spot.
Yeah, maybe a new spot.Maybe that's what it would be, because
then I probably would feel more comfortablebecause I thought I was doing the like
and for lack of a better terment, like a gentlemanly thing, and being
like, I'm not going to standbehind anyone. I'll just be in the
front row on the corner here. That way, nobody else has to be
like, oh man, and there'sa guy in the class, Oh,
(29:34):
you want to talk about fish outof water. I don't do front row,
so steady hard path that was Thatwas it? Like I was in
the corner like and it wasn't becauseI thought people were staring at me and
how bad I wasn't yoga that's alwaysuncomfortable, but I knew what I was
getting into. It's because I keptthinking well, now I feel like I
have plumber butt and that everybody behindme can see this, and like that
(29:57):
the yoga posing, well, Idon't know, but it's behind me,
so I can't see where people's eyesare. All of a sudden, I
am just overtaken by insecurity of like, I just feel like my gut has
folded over and my butt crack isout, and I am just showing everything
to these ladies behind me who haveno interest in seeing at all. Not
(30:18):
to mention, you know, whenyou're bending and moving like that, things
happen inside of your body, andI was desperately afraid of that happening as
well. Shmitty, I don't thinkI really feel like a fish out of
water in those circumstances. But pleasedo not sit me next to someone who's
smart or successful. Netflix. Ihave been to weddings. I have been
to weddings and made up what Ido because I'm like, I don't want
(30:41):
to sit like, oh my gosh. I went to a friend's wedding and
they sat me at a table witha bunch of their medical engineer friends,
and I'm like, what did youthink I would rather sit by myself?
What did you think I was goingto talk to them about and then I
try to make jokes which don't landwith them because they're brilliant, and I'm
just like, they didn't get thisfar in life by laughing. I was
(31:03):
about to be like, I justwanted to be like a waitress. So
do you guys want me to getyou some more food? Like I don't
want to sit here and continue tojust try and be as brilliantly bright as
you are. All I can dois talk. See it's funny. I
will lie about my profession too,but it's only because I don't want to
talk to people about being on theradio. Thanks they go off to that
show, I feel like, uh, George Gustanza and Seinfeld like I'm Art
Vandalay of Vandalay Industries. And thenI got nervous because I was like,
(31:25):
what am I going to make upthat they don't know, Like, oh,
I'm a Nilsa astronam. They'd belike, oh, how did you
feel about this seven two five chemicalbond? Never mind? Never mind?
Did you need more potatoes? Sometime? Because I get a good feeling,
well, let's dive in something totake with you for the rest of this
Friday to pick you up a littlebit, feeling good on staring five point
seven. I love this. AnytimeI have a chance to bring up an
(31:48):
honor flight, I want to spotlightit. And tomorrow more than two dozen
Michigan veterans will be headed to dC for a once and a lifetime opportunity.
This is the talent's out on ourflight. It gives those who served
an opportunity to fly to Washington,d C. To visit the memorials dedicated
to them tomorrow. Two of thosepeople will be Alvin Peterson and Richard Croschell.
(32:13):
Both served in the Vietnam War intheir early twenties. Both then worked
for Grand Rapids Public Schools when theycame home, and both have never been
to DC. Peterson plans to takehis daughter, while Richard says his oldest
son is in Indianapolis driving up actuallythis afternoon. They'll have dinner tonight before
he heads out tomorrow morning. Alongsidehim, twenty six veterans will be on
(32:38):
board, most of whom are fromWest Michigan. And they tell Wood TVA
this is just so appreciated. Richardsaid, when you got out of the
war, there was no real appreciationshown for the veterans getting out, nothing
of the sort. It was, here's your discharge papers, you're on your
own. The opportunity for this honorflight fifty years later is so very much
(33:01):
appreciated, not to mention the camaraderiethat vetrans fined with others on the flight,
meeting all sorts of people from differentservices. It's nice to see what
they fought for and to feel likea family again. So this is a
day long event. They'll go tothe Korean War, the World War II
Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, aswell as the Vietnam Memorial. This one
(33:22):
is flying out of Kalama Zoo tomorrow. So if you'd like to show up
and either see them off or welcomethem back home, I promise it is
one of the most powerful things youwill ever experience. You're one hundred percent
right. Vidia My father, aVietnam veteran, would tell you the same
thing, that there was an appreciationwhen those guys got back at all.
(33:42):
And I think only recently, inthe last few years in life would he
have felt comfortable going to see anhonor you know, something attribute to those
fallens. My father in law isplanning it Vietnam war vet himself, and
again that sense of community, youguys being the ones to welcome them home
is a really big deal. SoI'll put the details for you if you
feel like making a road trip atWest Michigan Star dot com. One great
veteran story deserves another's bitting. Thisis pretty cool. Texas postal carrier and
(34:06):
Marine Corps veteran Alvin Guthier recently wentway above his duties to ensure that a
family of a fellow veteran got somethingthat would become very special to them.
I see, at his post officethere in Texas, they found letters dating
all the way back to World WarTwo between nineteen forty two and nineteen forty
(34:27):
five that had gone missing. Therewas no address on them. All it
said was they were addressed to missmister and missus Henry Lamb of Jacksonville,
Arkansas. But again, as thisis almost, you know, eighty years
ago now, it was going totake some help to track him down.
Well. He actually contacted the localnews station in Jacksonville, Arkansas, and
was able to quickly track down JoeAnne Smith, whose late brother Marion was
(34:52):
the one who had been mailing theseletters. To her and their parents.
She was only two years old atthe time, and actually she was ref
instant the letters, saying like, hey, does joe Anne still remember me?
Really really cool. And for Elvin, he was just so happy to
help out another fellow veter as hetold to their local NBC affiliate, being
a veteran myself, you know WorldWar Two, and I'm like, man,
(35:15):
this is like some history because onceagain Mayo brings boost morale for all
soldiers. So my main thought wasI have to find his family. Well
he did find them, and thenhe drove almost four hundred miles on his
day off, paid for lodging, paid for everything, just so he could
return these to joe Anne and itwas so special for all three of them.
(35:37):
For me, it's a connection withfamily, my family now and if
it kind of like something like thishappens next week, I will do the
same thing again. Yeah. Hemade Mom cry in Grandfrier. Yeah,
that's right, it was making Momcry. Now they have this very special
legacy that they could share with herkids, her grandkids and continue to honor
(35:58):
her brother Mary. That's incredible, very cool. Feeling good comes at you
twice a day. I always hereto tell you about something awesome going on
out there. Let's do it againon Monday six forty five and nine twenty
on Star Mack and Schmidty in themorning weekday starting at six am on Star
