Speaker 1 (00:03):
Wakeum.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
It gets my day going and makes me laugh of it.
Mac and Schmidty in the morning on Star one of
five point seven, Good morning, Good morning, Welcome into your Tuesday.
You know, I was just looking on Wood TV and
I was reminded that it was a year ago tomorrow
about all those tornadoes that we had just last year
(00:28):
on May seventh and twenty area. Yeah, I forgot that
there were four tornadoes that touched down almost a year ago.
And in my head, all I kept thinking was that
was that a year ago? Why does that feel like.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
A big special about it?
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Still places a cleanup.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Man, I can I remember that so vividly. As soon
as I saw it, I was like, where was like
over a million people that were all under tornado warnings.
I mean that was wild, just because I hadn't remembered
such a big and fast tornado coverage area like that.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Well, jury selection has begun for the Big Ditty trial,
but federal prosecutors already facing the pressure relating to one
of their star witnesses. They revealed in court yesterday, they
may not be bringing one alleged victim to testify the
Apparently this is a woman. Feds revealed she does not
live close to New York City where the trial being
(01:29):
is being held, and they told the court she might
not show up despite being subpoena. This would be a
very big problem as this would be a third victim
that would only bolster the charges against Ditty. Meanwhile, this
is very interesting. Court documents that were found show that
there are no plans to sequester the jury so they
(01:53):
will be able to go home every day after court
hearings only to promise that they won't be talking about
the case to anyone. That was a very big shock.
As we've seen in other big, high profile cases. Oj
being used as an example those juries were fully sequestered
from the start, and it has garnered a lot of
media attention right now. Check this out line holders. Those
(02:17):
are people that are paid to stand in line twenty
five to thirty two bucks an hour that they are
making out there to make sure people can get in
for these hearings.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
That's pretty wild. I do think it's crazy that the
jury's not sequestered only because you've already talked about witness
tampering in this case that's been brought up by the
prosecution here. So I'm just surprised that they weren't worried
that with star this big, who's been around this long,
that there weren't going to be some probably improper communication.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
I don't know if they can change it. Can they
change it? I'm not a lawyer, but like that, I
think they're probably.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Going to be rethinking this because that seems like a
really bad idea.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
And Saint Lant's bass.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Went all out for the Big four six celebrating his
birthday in Vegas. This was over the weekend, but we've
got video surfacing of him partying with none other than Nelly.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
W My millennials, you're just gonna love this.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
They were at au Da Club Resorts World when Nelly
actually did a surprise performance bringing Lance on stage.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
They did a little in.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
Synct Oh yeah, that was in Sync's girlfriend te Pain
(03:42):
showed up.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Man, it looked absolutely amazing. I wish I was friends
with Lance.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Bath early two thousands. Me is real happy for that
for you.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Finally, you have probably heard about the hit movie Sinners.
This is the new Ryan Coogler movie. It's very kind
of supernatural thing. It's got Michael B. Jordan in it. Well,
I thought this was really cool. The town that it's
supposed to take place in is Clarksdale. It's a town
of about fifteen thousand, and it doesn't have a movie theater.
(04:12):
It hasn't for years. People have to travel more than
an hour to Memphis to be able to see this.
So Ryan along the entire cast, has announced a special
screening for this little town. They're actually going to be
screening it at the area High school. A few dates
have been tossed around, but yesterday Mayor sp of Clarksdale
said they're most likely looking at Juneteenth. That is the
(04:34):
June nineteenth holiday under the stars at the football field
of Clarksdale High School. He said it just didn't seem
right that a movie based on this entire place couldn't
allow the people in this actual place to see it.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Centers is so interesting. I want to see it, mostly
because of how successful and how great everybody says it is.
While I still have maintained absolutely no idea what it's about.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
I just I mean, it looks scary.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
It does look scary, but I have no clue what
the topic is.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
Gotten absolutely rave reviews, and I thought that was just
a really cool move.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
All of your celeb scoop at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
He's stelling a fine point seven Mac and shitty in
the morning. Thanks for hanging out. Let's get you feeling
good right now. And it's those little things that can
make a big difference, as I mentioned just a minute ago.
And when you're a kid, you might lose one in
the lunch room, but life still can have you losing
your retainer even as an adult. And that's the situation.
A mailman in North Carolina found himself in but he
had a dentist office on the route. His name was
(05:31):
Hugo and he was delivering mail to Providence Pdo, a
local dentist office. He left little handwritten notes just inquired
about whether or not they even deal with retainers. He said, Hello,
my name is Hugo and i'm your mailman. I was
wondering if you make retainers, I asked, because I just
recently lost mine and m a need of a new one.
If so, I have the mold at my house and
can bring it whenever you're available. Here's my number. Feel
(05:52):
free to contact me. Thank you. So much for your time,
signed your postman. Yeah. Interesting. Well, just the very next
day when he went to go drop off the mail again,
he got another note, a little sticky note that said, Hi, Hugo,
Doctor Adam would be happy to make you a new
retainer free of charge. Either just come upstairs or give
us a call at your convenience to get its scheduled.
(06:15):
So they went back and forth with him, winding up
bringing in the mold that he had so they could
make the retainer. Also that at the end of the
day he could get a brand new retainer on the house,
and in return, he sent another note, this one a
text message though with a box of Dunkin Donuts that
just said, God bless you. Hope you're having a good
morning so far. I have a little gift for the
(06:36):
PDO crew coming in half an hour or so. Just
be on the lookout for that. Hope you guys enjoy it.
I mean, just a little thing back and forth. And
I just thought it was awesome with the dentists to
use his skills to help somebody out who wasn't asking
for a handout. But at the same time you could
always use a free retainer. That stuff's not cheap man.
All right.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
So Leon Smith received the prestigious honor of Pennsylvania Teacher
of the Year. This is Teacher Appreciation Week, of course,
and he was invited on The Today Show yesterday to
talk about why he became a teacher. Not surprising, it
was thanks to another teacher, mister Haynes, that really inspired him.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
There wasn't many teachers that looked like me, but I
saw it at my church, I saw it in my community,
and when I saw him walk into the classroom, it
just made me feel so seen.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
It just I just appreciated him being think he ever
knew what you meant to him?
Speaker 5 (07:27):
I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
What would you tell mister Haynes if oh yep, he
surprises you on the show.
Speaker 5 (07:35):
What my goodness, are you serious right now?
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
How you doing?
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Oh it's so good to see. It's just I'm just
like me to this right now. It's amazing.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
But it just it just really resonates me the power
of a teacher, and and just that really made me
want to teacher because I remember how I felt when
you came in the room and I said, why is
it that you know so many students are not having
this experience, and I said to myself, I wanted to
be the teacher that I never had.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
It's always a teacher. Got the video for you at
West Michigan Star dot com Movies, music and all the
gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
Man, this woman loves dropping baby news in a big way.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
Rihanna is pregnant.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
Her and Asap Rocky are expanding their family yet again.
Yesterday was the big met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum
of Art in New York. This is the big red
carpet every year with just the wild fashion. Last night
was tailored look at black fashion, and Rihanna showed up
(08:51):
rocking a big baby bump. She actually dropped the news
earlier in the day. You saw her in Manhattan walking
around with the baby bump.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
Why right out? She is proud of it.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Sources confirm they are expecting their third child. But again,
I bet these details are going to be kept very
very secret. You'll remember we didn't even learn the name
of their first son for over a year. She announced
her second pregnancy at that Super Bowl halftime show, a
couple of years ago, and then of course dropping the
news last night on the met red carpet. So that's
(09:22):
really exciting stuff. A hight ch Betty, Rizza and Riot
are their sons names. What are we going with with
the third one?
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Welly idea rampage. I have read ryot Rose.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
I think Ryan is kind of weird, but if you
say Riot Rose, I actually do think it's kind of pretty.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
See, I think Rizza spelled Rza seems more weird to me.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
So one of the big power couples not on the
red carpet last night, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelcey and Man.
There had been rumors flying that they were going to
be making their debut at the Met Gala. It has
been eight years since Taylor has attended. It was twenty
sixteen when she was actually a co chair. Travis has
(10:01):
never been to the event, but they were invited. Unfortunately,
once again, it's those dang schedules that just couldn't make
it work, and they have been keeping a very low profile.
By the way, the last time the two were spotted
in public together was March fourteenth. It's been almost two
months since we've seen them.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Trouble and Paradise think are not really no.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
I think they're super excited to not have to do anything.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Yea.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
I saw some of the fashion last night.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
I love the met Galon even I was like, there
is not enough spanks in the world to get me
into some of those dresses. Finally, just a day after
President Trump revealed his plan to impose one hundred percent
tariffs on any and all movies produced in foreign lands,
this is interesting. California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, it's
worth pointing out, said he wants to collaborate with the
(10:48):
President to create a seven point five billion dollar federal
tax incentive to help the film industry. Lots in the
film industry have been pushing for years for some kind
of federal film subset. We saw this a bit in Georgia,
we had it for a bit here in Michigan. According
to Newsom in a statement yesterday, America continues to be
a film powerhouse in California is all in to bring
(11:11):
more production here, building on our successful state program. We're
eager to partner with the Trump administration to further strength
and domestic production.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
We'll see how this goes.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Because it was just yesterday that the President took a
bit of a shot at Newsom, calling him grossly incompetent
for allowing the American film industry to slip as far
as it has.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
So maybe the two will be working together well to see.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
It's like the odd couple. I mean, that's a film
on itself right there, Schminney.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
Oh, if your celeb scoop at West Michigan startt that's.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Mack and Schmidty and that soothing sound schmitty.
Speaker 6 (11:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Man, it was another stunning afternoon yesterday. I'll give I'll
give Matt Kirkwood credit where credit is due. He's right,
those clouds parted and that afternoon was sunshiny, warm, just
a slight breeze.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
We had a baseball game that started at five, and man,
you just signed me up for that off.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
We ate dinner out on the deck, like we just
it was so perfect. And I was sitting outside and
you know what I realized, I say, Gosh, you know
what's so relaxing is the sound of a lawnmower. I
think the sound of a lawnmower is so zen to me.
And my neighbor was mowing his lawn and doing everything,
blowing all the whatever, and I thought, oh my gosh,
(12:21):
and I posted this on TikTok, where I got a
ton of comments about this, which is how I wanted
to talk about it. I realized that must be just
a Midwest thing. I don't think if you went somewhere else,
like down south or out west and you were like, man,
how does the lawnmower make you feel? That people wouldn't
just be annoyed? Right, But here it means we don't
have snow. The first time you hear a lawnmower, you know,
(12:45):
oh my gosh, the snow is gone, the ground has
dried enough for us to need to mow, the grass
is growing.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Dare I say summer may finally.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
Return to Michigan? And I think, I think that's solely
a Midwest thing. I think if you talk to somebody
in Minnesota, Wisconsin, they.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Degree lot just sound of a lawn more.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
I feel like I could hear the variations on both
of those absolutely well done.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Got friends both places they love the sound of a lawnmower,
And I had to wonder, like, there's gotta be just
Midwest sounds that you adore.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
I did not think this is where you were going
with it. First off, do you mow your lawn ever?
Have you? When's the last time you mowed a law?
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Never moted a line. I grew up with all brothers.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Maybe people who mow the lawn every week feel differently
about the sound.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Of life told I told Chris he he can't stand
doing our lawn, and I'm like.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Babe, I feel so great. Keep it going. Sorry, we
can't afford a rider.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
I love watching you do it, and I love listening
to you to do it.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
It's nice you're sitting outside you your lawnmower.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
You're not immediately like, oh, you know what, And I'll
give you this if it's somebody else's you feel good
because it's not you.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Well, I know, and I'm getting anxious about how my
lawn looks. So he's over there making his look good.
Do I gotta go out there and even things out
a little bit.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
I got such a great message from Meg. She follows
me on TikTok at Schmidt in the Mit and she said, Schmidy,
you're a hundred percent right. That is how my papa
used to get my oldest to nap when she was
a baby. He'd fire up the lawnmower and within minutes
that kid was dead asleep for like a two hour
(14:21):
snoozle's on airplanes.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
I can get that.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
It's not just me.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
There have to be those Midwest sounds. A train, Oh good,
I love a train.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
So this is. I have a tiny, tiny little creek
that runs through our back spot, and there is nothing
I enjoy more in the summer than just hearing that.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
See that makes me want to pee. They do that
at the spot too, like if you're getting a massage.
I'm like, oh, I would just prefer like the string
instruments rather than the babbling brooks. I never know, so
don't do that to me. But you enjoy your babbling
brook I bet to some people that is very.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Really, you know, honestly, I had not ever thought about
whether or not it was making my bathroom a little bit.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Chimmitty is so salty. We all are salty sometimes, but
you gotta let it out. Get that vent in and
we're doing it every week. Salty smitty Right now? What's
going on? Man?
Speaker 3 (15:16):
I mentioned it in Celebs Scoop last night was the
big met gallup. You're unfamiliar. It's this huge party that
goes down at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It's all
this really wild fashion and every year is a different theme.
I personally really enjoy it. I like to see who
comes dressed in what how crazy it gets. Yeah, but
anytime you watch one of those, the met Gala, the
Academy Awards, whatever, you know that you're sitting just like
(15:40):
guy was last night. I was in my bed under
the comforter, had a bag of barbecue chips. I was
slathering some chicken salad crea.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
I bet all the time.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
Oh, I thought you, I thought you criticized me for
that so many times.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Chris is the one that hates me for it. Yeah,
so I have my baby Q chips, I had chicken
sell that. I was just like fork fulling onto a
giant croissant and I'm sitting there like, ah, she showed
up in back like.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
And it's so so humbling.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
You look terrible in that two hundred thousand dollars gown.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Because I'm going to post to my Instagram stories and
this has happened to you right where your camera turns
on forward facing and then you're.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Like, oh my gosh, get it together. The only thing
that made me feel good is like I was having
a diet coke.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
Smitty's so stalky. Spenny, Spenny, Spendy, What are you wearing
tonight while you watch the med Gala? Who are you wearing?
Speaker 3 (16:38):
We're in clearance Amazon, and they're stretchy because I knew
I was putting that whole bag of chips down.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Fabulous. It's the Celebrities Gooop on Star one oh five
point seven.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Well, it does feel like this is every celebrities nightmare.
Jennifer Aniston was chilling at home on Monday when a
man literally drove through the gates of her Bellier property
and security guards had to hold him at gunpoint until
cops showed up and arrested him. Apparently, the scary incident
went down just after noon on Monday, and oddly, the
(17:13):
cops believed the driver was in his seventies, So I've
been trying to look at this. He was arrested, We're
not sure what he's being booked for, so I'm not
sure if this was maybe a medical episode and not
necessarily someone trying to charge her property. But Jen's home
security team, thank Goodness, on property rushed to the car,
got the driver out, and then kept their guns trained
on him waiting for LAPD to arrive. Like I said,
(17:35):
unclear what he was booked for. But this was no
small crash. Apparently the driver complained of serious pain, was
actually taken by ambulance, and it took out an entire
front end of Jennifer's security gate.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
I mean, and the fact that she was whole living. Yeah,
it had to be a wild thing because I mean,
how do you get that information. Does somebody run into
the room and go.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
Somebody just crashed through the gate, or like does your
whole house start beeping?
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Do you go to your panic room? Like I let
to know what Jennifer Anderson's get going.
Speaker 6 (18:06):
Ah.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Well, last night was the MET Gala at the Metropolitan
Museum of Art, A big night in fashion. By the way,
if you were interested, the MET theme this year super
fine tailoring, black style.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
I was like, I don't even know what that means until.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
You see It's like, it's really really cool and a
lot of celebrities showed up wearing some really really fabulous looks. However, Lisa,
the singer from the girl group Black Pink, is facing
quite a bit of backlash this morning after it appears
she had on lathy undergarments that she wore as an outfit,
(18:43):
and they were sewn with the face of Rosa Parks.
It's interesting, in fact, I didn't really see this until
later last night when fans kind of zoomed in on
the outfit, and it does look like Lacey pictures of
Rosa Park's face all over these undies. A lot of
(19:04):
people think, Wow, that's offensive. This is one of the
biggest faces of the civil rights movement and put that
there and wear it in that kind of way seems
exceptionally disrespectful.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
And I would bet that she did it because she
thought it was like, Oh, this will be a cool tribute.
Everyone will think this was a great idea.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Felt kind of flat and very very odd for Lisa. Finally,
Michigan football coach Sharon Moore expected to be suspended two
games during the twenty twenty five season. This is part
of self imposed sanctions by the university for that sign
stealing scandal involving Connor's stallions. ESPN first reporting the suspensions.
They'll go down in week three and four. That is
(19:43):
a home game against Central and they are then on
the road at Nebraska. He will be out of any
team related activities those weeks as well. Now this is
interesting because while these are self imposed sanctions, there's rumor
that the NCAA will further punish more. This is something
that they will not speak about, though. One of the programs,
Spokesman's with spokespeople with the NC double A tells the
(20:06):
Free Press, as you know, we will not comment on
an active NC double A case.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Yeah, I mean, depending on whether you're a Michigan fan
or not, this is the indication the hammer's gonna drop
or this is no big deal.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
Because I think the hammer's gonna drop. I think he
gets more games.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
I think he might get two more games. I think
it's interesting that they went with the third and fourth
game because the second game of Michigan season they play
against Oklahoma, which is Sharon Moore's alma modern and so
they're like, he hand picked the suspension games so he
could coach against Oklahoma.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
I'm sure has made a.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
Bit more for a television jellifies game in Oklahoma than Central.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
All of your celeb scoop at West Michigan Star dot.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Com stelling a fine point see and it's back and
just spinning feeling a little bit of country with today's
tickets for Battle of the Sex is sending you to
see Caine Brown this weekend of Van Andelerina.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
I love the song he did with his wife. If
you guys haven't heard it, that is worth a listen.
He has got two ohs scheduled for Van and Al
six one six, four, five eight, one oh five seven.
One hundred women surveyed. Name something you see in every
action movie?
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Compensation, somebody takes their shirt off guaranteed, basically.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
Right, A lot of big trucks. Some you wonder why?
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Six one, six, four, five eight, one oh five seven,
collars seven tell us. One hundred women surveyed, Name something
you see in every action movie, and that number one
answer is sending you to Caine Brown this weekend with
Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Good morning Star. Who's this joshere coming from today?
Speaker 5 (21:35):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (21:36):
All right, Josh, got tell me. One hundred women we're
asked to name something you see in basically every action movie.
What was their top answer for explosions? You're gonna say explosions. Yeah,
that slow mo walk away from a massive explosion. That's
the action movie Stable right. I would have thought it
would have been number one. Two, Josh it's the number
(21:56):
three most common answer. I'm sorry man, thank you, Hi star.
Who's this Hey? This is Chelse, Chelsea, Josh just gave
me a great guest. One hundred women were asked name
something you seem to always see in action movies. He
went with what I would have went with, which was explosions.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
But that's what we were going to say.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Yeah, I don't blame you for that, but that was
actually somehow the number three most common answer. So you
got a chance here, Chelsea, what do you guys think
it is? We're gonna say and racing a car chase
as too furious and the forty seven sequels would agree
(22:36):
with you, but that is the number four most common answer.
I'm all right, thank you, hi star. Who's this Hey?
Speaker 1 (22:45):
This is Sarah?
Speaker 2 (22:46):
Sarah two wrong answers and a chance for you to
win Caine Brown tickets. One hundred women were asked to
name something you pretty much always see an action movies
that I've heard explosions, which was the number three most
common answer, and car chases, which was the number four
those common answers. So what do you think it is? Sarah?
A gun? Guns? Weapons doesn't have to be guns, could
(23:08):
be swords. I don't know Chinese throwing stars for all
I care. Weapons is the top answer, Sarah, congrat ground, Yes,
thank you, you are so welcome. San two. It's Mac
and Schmidty, And there's obviously no denying that smartphones have
changed our lives. Yeah, And it used to be when
(23:30):
you didn't get a hold of somebody at first, that
was nothing, that was like normal, and you didn't give
it two thoughts. Now, if somebody doesn't respond to you
within a couple of minutes of them messaging you, you
start to feel a certain way. And that's especially true
when we're talking about our significant other.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Smidty and honesty. I'll give you, I'll give you a
few hours.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
But if you have your read receipts on and I
know you saw the text, that's a mistake.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
That's where we talk what's going.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
On, because I want to know whether or not when
it comes to your specific or your significant other specifically,
do you feel like the emotion that comes out of
you first is annoyance and anger or is it worry?
Because it used to be Schmitty that I felt like
my wife would get worried about the simplest things. I
(24:16):
wouldn't text her back for like an hour. She's like,
I'm just checking on you. Why, like let me alone.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Just done watching a dateline in the middle of the day.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
But here's the thing. Something about my phone and I
have looked up and down on this. I've gone through
her individual kind. I don't know what it does. But
it'll all of a sudden just silence my alerts from
her and they won't show up at my watch. My
phone won't buzz and vibrate when they come in.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
But you're aware that that sounds sketchy, Yeah, one hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
I haven't.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
That sounds super say schmitty.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
I am not even kidding. I don't know, like opened
up the phone in front of her. I'm gone through
Like it is turned into a thing because my wife,
who I felt, used to message me with concern if
I didn't text her back immediately jumps to anger. Now tick,
She's like, is this phone doing that stupid thing again?
I just want to know when I need to pick
up at the store for you.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
Like Michelle, that is exactly how I would to Oh
my gosh.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
He gets so mad about it, and I I don't
get mad because it very rarely ever happens. So when
it happens for me, I get a little worried. That's
the first thing. And I'm like, honey, when I you
don't text me back right away, I'm thinking about your safety.
We love about how much I love you and want
to make sure you're okay. When I don't text you back,
(25:30):
you're thinking to yourself, how annoyed I am at this man.
And I can't stand the fact that his absent mindedness
is preventing him from just moving his stupid thumbs a
little bit and texting me back.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
It kills me.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
We're in the window right now. We're in the text
window for me and Chris, because I know he's up.
I know he's got to take the kids to school,
and I know all of that does not end until
a little after nine, and so I'm like, bro. And
the worst is when I call him after not.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
Hearing yeah, and then he picks up. He goes, oh boy, WHOA?
Speaker 2 (25:59):
When I do this?
Speaker 1 (26:00):
Married ten years? You want to keep it going?
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Is it anger or is it worry for you? We
got to go it on Facebook right now. At West
Michigan Stock I always try to put some positivity out
there because it pays off. All right, feeling good on
Star one oh five point seven. What's going on, Swiddel?
Speaker 3 (26:14):
Well, of course we know the conclave to elect a
new Pope will officially begin in Rome tomorrow, but we
are still talking about the incredible legacy of Pope Francis,
and that legacy will take on new life in Gaza.
One of the Pope mobiles that once carried Pope Francis
as he greeted his faithful is being converted into a
(26:36):
mobile health clinic for kids in the war torn region.
A Catholic humanitarian organization is outfitting the vehicle with diagnostic equipment, vaccines,
and tons of other life saving supplies, and it will
be staffed by doctors and medics. This is incredible. According
to one of the big executive directors of this organization,
(26:59):
it was one of Pope frames Instance's final wishes in
his last months. He specifically asked the organization to transform
the popmobile into this clinic. At Aspar says, this vehicle
represents the love, the care and the closeness shown by
his holiness for the most vulnerable. I mean, that is
just absolutely incredible.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
I get a there's a lot of pressure in this
conclivet because you're stepping into some real big shoot. Yeah,
I got a doubt. All right, Spindy, Let's talk about
mister Rogers. Not that mister Rogers. This is a teacher
in New York who has actually been retired for twenty
seven years now. Is Damus William Rodgers, and he was
the choral music director at Maryvale High School in cheek Towaga,
(27:40):
New York. There a little community where he made just
a massive impact, so much in fact, that just this
past Saturday, dozens and dozens of his former students surprised
mister Rogers with a special concert for his eighty fifth birthday.
This is really cool. Again, he taught there from nineteen
sixty two to nineteen ninety eight, so thirty six years.
(28:03):
But that was twenty seven years ago. You wouldn't think
that somebody is out there just trying to make big
events like this happen for somebody who's been retired for
almost thirty years. But according to music director Ann Monzer
and his son Bill Rogers, they told their local ABC
seven that their dad's impact is literally inescapable in their community.
(28:24):
You almost couldn't find anybody that went to Maryvale when
I went to Maryvale that didn't have him as a
teacher and wasn't part of the choir.
Speaker 6 (28:34):
The thing about my dad is I can't go anywhere
with him where we go to a store or a
restaurant where somebody doesn't come over to say hi to him.
I mean that is a testament to his goodwill in
the community. Very proud to be his son, especially in
(28:56):
moments like this.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
Thirty six years as an educator and they're getting to
see decades of his students. As he stepped up on
stage one more time to.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Conduct that, that's a ripple effect.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
Pretty cool, feeling good coming at you a couple of
times today. I always want to tell you about great
things happening out in our world. It's all around you
when you're looking for it. We'll do it tomorrow six
forty five and nine twenty here on Star Mack and
Schmidty in the morning weekday, starting at six am on
Star one oh five point seven
