Mack and Schmitty in the morning on West Michigan's Christmas
station Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Good morning to see you, Schmitty.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
Hey, good morning, Welcome into your Monday, and it's another
day where Lions fans get to just wake up and
have a glorious start to the day.

Speaker 4 (00:15):
I mean, I guess so if you checked social media,
because I don't know anybody that stayed up for that game,
what is going on? Last night was hard? Y'all anybody
else feel like? I mean, we finished dinner at five
forty five, and it had been pitch dark for about
twelve hours at that point, and then like we get
the kids ready for bed, we do reading, we get ready,

(00:36):
We're like, okay, we'll watch a little bit of the
Lions game. Six forty seven. We've still got like an
hour and a half. I had no idea. Last night
was like the longest night I've ever felt of darkness.
This daylight Saving time is still kind of kicking me
in the back end.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
You guys, It is a weird. And yeah, I haven't
stayed up to watch the complete end to a Monday
night football or Sunday night football game. I don't think
it like, I don't know, six years something like that,
over a decade for me, it's been a while for sure,
by the exciting stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
So there you guys go.

Speaker 5 (01:08):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
It's the celebrities gooop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Well, last night we saw the MTV europe Music Awards.
You might not have known those were a thing, but
indeed with quite a few big celebrities making their way
across the pond, not surprising Taylor Swift leading the pack
with seven nominations and turning out to be the biggest
winner of the night. She did take home some big wins,

(01:35):
including Best Video for Fortnite, her collaboration with Post Malone,
as well as Best Artist. Other big winners included Sabrina
Carpenter with Best Song for Espresso, Best New Artist, Benson
Boone and Best Pop Artist Ariana Grande. Our very own
eminem took home Best Hip Hop. But here's what's very interesting.
It was not a great night for big newcomers. Both

(01:58):
Charlie xcx and and Chapel Roane completely shut out, not
getting a single win despite multiple nominations, but a very
moving part of the night came from artist Rita Aura.
She served as host and opened with a very special
tribute to Liam Payne, the former One Direction member who

(02:19):
she had a very close friendship with.

Speaker 6 (02:21):
Liam Payne was one of the kindest people that I knew.
You know, there were so many ways that we were
talking about honoring him, and that I think sometimes just
simply speaking is enough. He had the biggest heart and
was always the first person to offer help in any
way that he could. He brought so much joy to
every room he walked into, and he.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Left such a mark on this world.

Speaker 6 (02:47):
So let's just take a moment to remember our friend Liam.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
I mean, you can see her kind of signaling to
the camera like we got to cut this. I actually
can't physically get through it. I had to watch. This
is fun. Of course, today is Veterans Day, so please
make sure to thank our wonderful servicemen and women. Rob
Gronkowski decided to do that in a very interesting way yesterday.
The former tight end commenting for Fox NFL Sunday is

(03:15):
normal day job, but decided to change it up, throwing
on a wetsuit and flippers and throwing himself out of
a helicopter alongside a real Navy enlisty. It is wild
to hear the guy's response, all.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Right, he's about to jump.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Now, the first one will be the Navy driver who
will go in first to second person you see is Gronk.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Here we go. That's about twenty twenty five two, right, Hi,
and I would like to do that's the baby person
and that's Gronk.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
It was really cool. He was about twenty five feet
in the air. They were a board and aircraft carrier
for a very special broadcast yesterday.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Imagine having to try and lug that guy through the
water if he gets in there and you need to
help him out. He's a big dude, I mean he
and I imagine doesn't float very well.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
I'd be more nervously going after a Navy person, like,
I don't know how to do this at all. Let's
just focus on you, finally, our interesting honesty our. Garfunkels
has a recent reunion with Paul Simon brought him to tears,
so the singer songwriter sat down for an interview over
the weekend with The Times, saying the two estranged friends

(04:27):
grabbed lunch together for the first time in years. Garfunkels,
as he asked his longtime partner why they hadn't met
in so long, and that's when Paul told him comments
he had made in an interview back in the day
really cut him to the core. Now, he didn't go
into specifics on what interview or what was said, but
at that point Art says he actually started bawling like

(04:50):
a baby. He realized he was a total fool to
be doing this. They got very emotional together and he
said this is not a one off meeting. The two
plan to hang out again, and he says, you just
never know if we'll bring our guitars or not. So
a lot of fans interested this morning that there might
be a Simon and Garfunkle reunion.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
I got my handway in the air. I am one
of those fans. Was my mom's favorite group growing up,
these guys and so like this music.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Just it makes me have so much feeling.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
This was the first record I ever learned to play
on my parents' vylayer. I adore Simon and Garfunkles, so
this would be really really cool. I will post the
full interview for you with your scoop at West Michigan
Star dot.

Speaker 6 (05:33):
Com sometime dose I get a good feeling.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Let's start this week off on a positive note. It's
feeling good on Starwin O five point seven Maconsmitty with You,
and of course Veterans Day. But over the weekend a
really cool veterans memorial was opened up at Caledonia High
School and it was all part of a project done
by a former student alumnus, Brody Woodwick. An unveiling Sarah

(06:00):
only held over the weekend, as Brody, who's now with
first year Air Force ROTC student in Michigan State, told
he was inspired to create this new digital veterans mural
because of the service of his father.

Speaker 7 (06:14):
Just seeing him doing what he does every day, it
truly inspired me to follow his footsteps and follow his
path into the military.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
So he knew we wanted to go into the military.
But this idea actually originated after Brody attended an Armed
Forces luncheon and was challenged to create a tribute for veterans.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Well.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
He designed the wall, he secured for support from his teachers,
the parent teacher student organization, and the school board. Then
he went out there and helped raise ten thousand dollars
through local fundraisers to get this project done. Of course,
unveiled over the weekend. It's an interactive memorial that allows
visitors to search for their veterans' names, their details, their

(06:52):
service achievements, and also they can flip through and see
these incredible stories from some of our local heroes that
are right here in West Michigan. And obviously this is
a big gesture, but as Brody told Wood TV, sometimes
it's the small ones that make a big difference as well.

Speaker 7 (07:09):
I think it's important to remember our veterans who have
served our country. They're the reason that we can live
in this country with freedom and peace. Even just a
small gesture of just simply thanking a veteran for their
service if they walk by one, but what a.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Cool idea, What a good young man.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Bitby, Amen to that and thank you for your service
so very much. A fourth grader at Schoolcraft Elementary in Waterford,
it's over in Metro Detroit being hailed a hero after
springing into action when he realized his classmate was choking
at lunch. Nine year old Matthew Lowe told ABC seven

(07:49):
typical day in the cafeteria until he looked over at
his good friend Aria Cummins and realized she didn't look right.
He knew right away what was going on. She was
choking Aria at apparently a hard time small part of
a breadstick, No worries. Matthew knew exactly what to do.
Jumping right in and beginning to do all the maneuvers
he was taught to save her was really incredible. But

(08:13):
the really cool part Matthew didn't tell anybody about this.
According to principal Alexandra Beleez, they had no clue this
went down until other classmates told him about it.

Speaker 8 (08:23):
He didn't come to us to get accolades or to
be recognized. He just went back to his daily work.
And it wasn't until someone else told us that what
he had done that we started to celebrate him. I'm
so thankful to have students like Matthew who take care
of business and make things happen when he's there.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
Yeah, Matthew's pretty thankful too.

Speaker 8 (08:44):
What does it feel like now?

Speaker 1 (08:45):
And we sitting next to her? She's okay, happy.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Happy, His best friend is good to go. Wow, incredible moment.
I've got the video for you at West Michigan Star
dot com.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Nine years old. That is so young to be a
tive like maneuver that's.

Speaker 5 (08:59):
Incredible movies, music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Well, this was really sad to hear because we all
love Dawson's Creek's James Van Derbeek and a big People
cover story that came out over the weekend. He talks
about family life, the six kids that he shares with
his wife of more than a decade, Kimberly, but how
the two are now officially done having kids because he's

(09:29):
facing a colorectal cancer diagnosis. He said he's been receiving
treatment for the disease, hoping things will get better. He
admits initially finding out about the stage three cancer diagnosis
was nothing short of shocking, but he feels much better
now that he's able to discuss it openly. He will

(09:49):
actually appear in the real Full Monty. This is a
two hour special where he and other big stars are
going to strip down in order to raise awareness about
certain types of cancer that comes out next month, and
it was a big reason he decided to come very
candidly and openly clean about this big part of his

(10:10):
life and the shift for his family.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
You know, That's a very serious diagnosis right there, for sure.
So I think it's really commendable, not only that he's
talking about it, whether that he's going to be out
there and proactive in helping others make sure that if
they can diagnose something like that early for somebody else,
you can really save lives.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
He's got some great advice as a dad to including
what some of his kids conversations have been. That posted
that at West Michigan Star dot com. Britney Spears complaining
about her conservatorship on a TV show years before we
all really started to learn what was going down. So
this is a resurface clip that was getting a ton
of attention over the weekend. Brittany was a guest on

(10:49):
the Jonathan Ross Show This is back in twenty sixteen,
promoting her album Glory. During the talk, the conservatorship came up.

Speaker 8 (10:59):
So you've taken Moyen can totally immediately before?

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Yes, why didn't take you settle on? Why did you
wait to announce to do it?

Speaker 4 (11:05):
Well, there's a.

Speaker 9 (11:08):
Lot of reasons, but I won't get in some whole story.
But I think since the conservatorship, I'm in. A conservatorship
is the third year of me being under that, and
I just I felt like a lot of the things
were planned for me to do, and you know, being
told what to do, and I was just like, for
this one, I want to make it my baby, and
I want to do it myself. And I was very

(11:29):
strategic about the way I did it. And yeah, that's
why it means so much to me.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
So here's what's interesting. Brittany had mentioned this interview in
her memoir, but the show, which was taped back in
twenty sixteen, edited the entire conservatorship discussion out of what
actually aired. That exchange you just heard was shown to
the public for the first time on ITV Saturday Night.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
How much do you want to bet that her dad
was standing right behind those cameras as that went on
there and said, yeah, let's get that part out of there.
And you know what, I think any publicists would have
done that. I don't think this is a controversial opinion,
or at least it's not as much Brittany probably needed
to be under a conservatorship. That being said, it clearly
didn't need to be through her dad taking advantage of her,
like he clearly was.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
Finally, Sabrina Carpenter fans less than impressed about what went
down at her show in San Francisco over the weekend.
I'm sorry aloud, but I don't know what I would
do if this happened. So these two girls, Alison Suarez
Miranda's what she goes by on TikTok, posted this video

(12:34):
that they're on the stage floor seats. You've got floor
seats at this huge San France show. Sabrina has just
come out on stage. They're sitting there hanging out when
a fan peede everywhere. Oh my gosh. She filmed the aftermath,
apparently a huge puddle staining the floor. I've seen multiple

(12:56):
videos of this. Right now, there's a huge obvious, like
whole in the crowd where fans were trying to like
spread apart. No idea if security got involved or what.
But she just said, imagine you're patiently waiting for sweet
baby Angel Sabrina to come out on stage when all
of a sudden and it's like a river.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
Please stop with the descriptions.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
Man, are sometimes a bold move.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
My question is is that do you think it was
like a scenario where somebody like got there really early
to get up to the front and didn't want to
move and ultimately just trap themselves there like whoa boy?

Speaker 4 (13:34):
Yeah, trending was I got peed on in the pit
to see Sabrina. All of you were celebsco at West
Michigan Stardock right. So I had a really packed but
awesome weekend. Good morning, it's Mack and Schmidty. And I
realized that it's probably something very weird about myself. I

(13:55):
love being seated with total strangers. Saturday, I hosted my
daughter's school fundraiser. It was this huge night. She goes
to one of the area Catholic schools, and it was
just Chris and I and we don't I mean, she's
in preschool, so we don't know a whole ton of
the parents yet we're certainly not somebody who you know,

(14:17):
has been with the school for years and years and years.
It was such a fun night, and so I knew
with just the two of us going, they're probably gonna
see us at a table where we could like fill
out the full ten seats. So shout out to table sixteen.
We sit down and we don't know anybody there. There's
three other sets of parents, all different grade levels, and
I had an absolute blast. These people were so much fun.

(14:42):
And I don't know if they'll be listening, but shout
out to the shops, the Hewletts and the Pennings. We
had an absolute riot. Like they were doing like auction items,
and one of them bid on this homemade corn hole
set that one of the grades had done. I got
invited to the cornhole competition. We exchanged phone numbers and emails, like,

(15:04):
we spent two hours of dinner together and I just
looked around. I was like, I hope this is not
coming on too strong, but I would really love to
continue to be friends with you all. We were hugging
each other by the end. And We're driving home Saturday
night after this fundraiser and I looked at Chris. I
was like, oh, my gosh, that was so much fun,

(15:24):
and he goes yeah, and I was like, oh, that's right.
I'm the extroverts and my husband is the exact opposite introvert.
I mean, he's really fabulous at sh he's a nice guy,
and when it comes to his job being a realtor,
he's so spot on. But being put in a position

(15:46):
like that is so out of his comfort zone. And
I'm just telling these people every aspect of our personal life.
I'm sharing. I'm sharing stories that I'm sure I shouldn't.
At one point, like halfway through dinner and I'm sitting
next to one of the women and she just looks
over at me and she goes, oh my gosh, are

(16:07):
you on Star one oh five point seven? And I
go because I didn't say, I didn't say that at
the fundraiser at all. I say yeah, and she goes,
I knew it. You guys do radio fun every year
in your voice always makes me cry, and I go,
I promise, I'm gonna be so much more fun. We
plan a family trip like we were talking about maybe
going to the casino or like joy Zoo. I had

(16:31):
the greatest time, And I was thinking to myself, chis
this season like the next six eight weeks, You're gonna
have a ton of different gatherings where maybe it's more
than family, maybe it's coworkers. You don't know. And I
just want to say I'm so sorry to all the
introverts out there where this is your honest nightmare, but
to people like me, I am out. I'm gonna thrive

(16:53):
through these next two months. I had the greatest time.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Go ahead, and throw me in the camp of people
who don't want to be sat next to people like SHMIDDI, Oh.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
Put the punch bowl on the table and let's start
playing game.

Speaker 3 (17:04):
That's what I was gonna ask, was or was there
not any alcohol involved at this charity event?

Speaker 4 (17:10):
Did you not hear me say Catholic school fundraise?

Speaker 3 (17:14):
You say Catholic And I'm sorry, as a lifelong Catholic,
alcohol could be involved.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
At seven events? Yeah, that it was there.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
How they make the money, that's what.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
But that's the difference though, right is like, if I'm
having a couple of cocktails, y see me with strangers,
we're gonna have a great time. If not, and it's
a school function and we all are there to spend
our money, I'm like, okay, really, I'm just gonna go
into hermit mode. I feel like, raise my hand for
the a best.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
Friend in a bathroom like I I adore it. So
that's just that's my weekend story and my apologies because
I know those of us like me really ruin the
lives of other people.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
But in her element, it.

Speaker 4 (17:53):
Was so I mean, by the end of the night,
like one of one of them won one of the
big raffle prizes, and I was the WU girl. I
was like Title sixteen.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
They for sure told stories about you after the event.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
You're about a doubt very christ like. I was making
friends with air body.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Human torch was denied at Bankloade good chain.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
It's the news nobody really needs, Schmitty, but it's the
news we all deserve. Kickish off with this very first bite.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
I don't think anybody deserves this. New York Mayor Eric
Adams has issued a drought watch, asking citizens to cut
back on toilet flushes. That's the point where at I
remember as a kid, right, if it's yellow, let it
mellowad bite.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Man forgets he was dumped, gets married seven months later.
Did you see this story, Schmitty. Mitchell brotherson dumped by
his girlfriend Jenna, goes on a ski trip where he
suffers concussion, wakes up in the hospital claiming he never
remembers being dumped by girl.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
She gives him a second chance, and now they're married.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
I've never heard of gas lighting working, so quink I
had no idea deadbine all right. A charity has apologized
and responded to embarrassed shop workers in the UK who
displayed intimate toys in their window, thinking they were doorknobs.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
Oh well, awkward.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
Thing to have to talk to the kids about. So
we're just gonna move on.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
Deadbine s many hackers demand one hundred and twenty five
thousand dollars ransom be paid in baguettes.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Obviously.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
This happened in France, where Schneider Electric was asked to
pay one hundred and twenty five thousand dollars to get
back the information from a data bring but wanted to
be paid entirely in bread.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
SCHMITTI I feel that Badbine.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
Finally, Mattel is in the middle of an oopsie, having
to pull Wicked dolls off the shelf after mistakenly listing
an adult site on the packaging. It is wickedmovie dot Com.

Speaker 8 (19:59):
Not with.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
Schmidy.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Canadian couple sues nanny for quitting. Vancouver couple suing their
Irish nanny for quitting without notice. What do you say
when you get in front of the judge.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
It's not fair. We have to raise our own children now. Yeah,
I don't think you're gonna get much sympathy there. That's
this week's headlines.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
You see any great ones down there can I always
send them our way, Facebook and Instagram at West Michigan, Star.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
Modies music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point
seven Wells.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
Fox Sports NFL analyst Michael Strahan facing some big criticism
this morning on social media for not placing his hand
over his heart during the National Anthem. Yesterday. The Fox
Sports team, which includes big names like Terry Bradshaw and
Rob Gronkowski, presented their show from the San Diego Naval Base,

(20:54):
of course, ahead of Veteran's Day Today. National Anthem played
on the show before Sunday's big the NFL schedule, and
as tradition, member of the members of the Fox panel
lined up a place they're right, hands over their hearts.
That included everybody, how we Long, Jimmy Johnson, Jake Laser,
everyone except the former NFL star Michael Strahan, who chose

(21:18):
to keep his hands interlocked in front of him. Did
not go unnoticed on social media, with big names like
news Max's Hot Star and saying Michael Strahan disrespected the
military during a Veteran's Day free game show. The great
irony is Strayhan on a ship surrounded by men and
women who would willingly sacrifice their lives to protect his freedom.

(21:41):
His behavior is not just repugnant, it is downright cowardly.
And that echoed a lot of sentiment yesterday.

Speaker 3 (21:49):
I'll be honest, I guess I have a hard time
believing that he did this on purpose, Like it feels
to me just like a oversight on his part or
something that he didn't realize could be perceived as negative
until after the fact that I'm not going.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
He hasn't spoken yet. I wonder if he will make
any kind of reference to this. On GMA today, Taylor
Swift once again showing up to cheer on boyfriend Travis Kelsey.
In fact, she actually missed the MTV Europe Awards yesterday
in person, sending a video in order to be in
Kansas City. But a lot of people are talking about

(22:24):
what she said to her security as she came in
that VIP tunnel. It's kind of hard to hear. You
can hear them shouting at the Papa Rozzi, stay back,
stay back, and she actually holds her golf cart, stands
up and goes, please stay back, guys, please, can we

(22:46):
use the word please? Is the swifties are just all enthralled, like, Oh,
she's such a good person. And you could see actually
her mom was walking right behind her. Was just like,
what that's the tailor? I raised very sweet video. Finally,
this is so cool. He has been a part of
our iHeartRadio Music festival and now we are going to

(23:07):
see him in Detroit. The Lions announcing the twenty twenty
four Thanksgiving halftime show will feature Shaboozy. The Grammy nominated
singer songwriter made the announcement on his Instagram, thrilled to
be a ford Field fun funkin. It's so cool. He

(23:39):
did a huge photo shoot Rockin' a Lions jersey. Not
just that hit song, a bar song. He's been featured
on Beyonce's album. He was on the soundtrack for Spider
Man Into the spider Verse. People are super stoked about
this as the halftime show, of course set for twelve
thirty on Things Thanksgiving as they host the Bears, and

(24:02):
I don't have to tell you guys, that's probably gonna
be a guaranteed.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
W as a confirmed Bears fan, you lost confidence in
your team this weekend? Did just they were not good?

Speaker 4 (24:11):
I lost a big part of the afternoon yesterday due
to some high noons because of those boys.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
Oh, it's gonna be fun.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
All of your celeb Scoop at West Michigan's start up Cops.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Good morning to you.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
It's Mack and Schmidt and it is time for our
Christmas quiz. Getting down for some holiday fun tonight.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
Smitty Derek Coff. Oh my gosh, the toe tap and
treat I just came.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
Up with that.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
It was pretty good.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
Yeah, it's gonna be in town. He's at DeVos Performance
Hall eight o'clock this evening. You've got your tickets. If
you can figure out today's Christmas quiz, give us something
specific that's homemade and given at the holidays.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
I'm sorry, but the only thing that came into my
head when you said that was the Pink Nightmare.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
That was the bunny suit from Christmas Story.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
I went fruitcake. Oh, you'll get some iristas.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
This is in eighteen sixty four.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
I got an aunt. Boy does she live for the
fruit cake? And you just got a like we've got
two dogs. Thankfully? All right? Six one six four five,
eight one oh five seven Caller seven, First chance SAT
Today's answer. Give us something specific that's homemade and given
at the holidays, and you could be headed to see
Derek upp tonight.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
Get Star win five Star one five points seven. Good morning.
Who's this Hi?

Speaker 5 (25:20):
This is Casey and Madison.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
Casey and Madison. Where you guys calling from this morning?

Speaker 8 (25:24):
Hot by your in Center, Michigan.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
All right, Casey and Madison, let's see if we can
get to these tickets for Derek Cuff tonight over at
de Vos Performance All gotta tell me. One hundred guys
were asked to name something specific that people give around
the holidays.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
That would be homemade cookie. You're going with cookies.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
I didn't specify what holiday we were talking about necessarily.
I mean, if it's Thanksgiving, I think pie. But you
know what we are the Christmas station and I can
see why you did that.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Cookies is the top answer. Guys.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
Congratulations, Oh my god, thank you. You are going to
check out that incredible Darek Tough tonight DeVos Performance Hall.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
Congrats, awesome, Thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
You are very welcome and a chance at a president
every morning with your Christmas quiz. We'll do it again
tomorrow eight fifteen here on Star one oh five point seven.
Happy holidays.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Guys. Yes, happy holidays, thank you, good morning too.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
It's Mack and Schmidty. And I saw this list Schmidty
and it just kind of bothered me. What is your
all time favorite TV couple? Because throughout your life you're
probably gonna have a lot of them. I mean, when
you're a kid, you see those ones that it seems
like their kids have so much fun or their house
was so awesome, and then as you get older, it's like,
which couple can you relate to the most? I feel like,

(26:41):
which couple feels right to you? And I was asking
this be in my head, I think of Phil and
Claire Dunfie from Modern Family. That would be the one
that I think of as myself now. As a kid,
I loved Harriet and Carl Winslow from Family Matters. I thought,
you know, with urkle be in the next door neighbor,

(27:01):
those people were pretty calm, collected and had it together.

Speaker 4 (27:04):
I mean, I was a Qoreyanto paying a girl. I
wish that he I wish you would pop on the
boy Meets Pod podcast once in a while. That'd be fun. Yeah,
But I mean, gosh, honestly, Ross and Rachel for me.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
Ross and Rachel.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
So that makes sense. That makes sense to me, Schmidty.
So this big list of Google analytical analytics data was
just put together on who America's favorite couple is? Lois
and Clark from Smallville was number one on the list.
What's wrong with us in America? That's not like outside
of saying Superman and Lois Lane, that's all I know

(27:38):
about these people? How are you going to put those two?

Speaker 2 (27:42):
Is number one of them?

Speaker 4 (27:43):
Give a pass me on Todd Wellings from Okamus, So
we do have a Michigan made Nay, I'm making that
top couple.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
It starts to make sense after that, because this is
the one I thought might be number one. If you
said all time Lucy and Ricky from I Love Lucy
is number two, I thought that would be number one.
Martin and Gina from Martin procicingly at.

Speaker 4 (28:00):
Number three at Little Before My Time.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog an all time great couple?
Only number six there, Smitty me. You think it's because
they're on and off again relationship.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
Clearly those people never saw them up at Christmas Carol,
because that was oscar worthy for those two.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
I just couldn't believe this I asked this on Facebook too.
There were some pretty good answers on there. How about
Claire and Cliff Huxtable didn't I didn't age all that well,
I'll be honest with you. How about Dan and Roseanne
Connor that one? I was waiting for the Roseanne on there? Smitty,
which couple do you feel like represents you and Chris
a little bit? Do you have a couple that you

(28:37):
would say is like Immediately I started thinking about Bob's Burgers.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
Yeah, yeah, honestly, Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Yes, probably better than Homer and Marge at least.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
We got this going on Facebook. Tell us what is
your all time favorite TV couple?

Speaker 2 (28:54):
On there? At West Michigan Star sometimes because I'd get a.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
Good feeling to get the week started off on a
great note. It's feeling good. Un stubled to five point seven.
What's happened to mate?

Speaker 4 (29:06):
Well, you know that tis the season and it's officially
kicked off when we see the Rockefeller's Center Christmas tree
make its way to New York City. That happened over
the weekend and this year the tree comes from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts,
and the family donating it shares a very special connection

(29:26):
to the giant tree. Earle and Leslie Albert planted this
back in nineteen sixty seven together, shortly after they got married.
It started out just waste high, but today is a
towering seventy four feet high. So back in twenty twenty,
Rockefeller Plaza's head gardener actually noticed the tree, walked right

(29:52):
up to that front door and knocked, asking, hey, do
you guys think that you'd be willing to, I don't know,
give us this tree for New York City. This was
an especially poignant moment because the timing couldn't have been
more incredible. Leslie had passed away just a couple days earlier.

Speaker 6 (30:13):
And then Michael said, do you think he's like an
angel or something? This is definitely her her handiwork.

Speaker 8 (30:19):
What do you think she's thinking.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
I'm thinking she's thrilled.

Speaker 4 (30:23):
Oh my gosh, that's Earl that today Sho actually went
out and visited the family. He says this is very
important to him.

Speaker 8 (30:29):
Well, I consider it probably one of the greatest honors
of my life.

Speaker 4 (30:33):
Even cooler, they got a letter from last year's family
that had something very special about the moment that tree
gets lit.

Speaker 6 (30:41):
You'll never forget the sound, the flip of the switch
and the roar of the crowd.

Speaker 4 (30:46):
You'll get chills, and just the emotion. It's overwhelming emotion.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
You'll get to me, I'm sure, what do you think
you'll be thinking of in that moment?

Speaker 2 (30:54):
We Leslie how much she enjoyed trees. You know how
much she enjoyed Christmas.

Speaker 4 (30:59):
So when we're watching that big special and the official
Christmas tree in Rockefeller Plaza gets lit, just know that
the Albert family is going to be sharing a really incredible.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
Moment that is pretty special. I mean, imagine the Christmas
moment of seeing a legacy like that for her just
light up right in front of the entire world. Very cool,
all right, ch Benny, You know what Lions fans were
living on cloud nine. It seems like this entire season
and there are so many incredibly cool stories that have
come out of this year, but maybe none better than
that of Jake Bates, which we have talked about a

(31:30):
few times now, because the guy is just living this
fairytale currently because it was only last year that he
took a job with the Acme Brick Company in Northwest Houston. Yeah,
he was gonna be a brick layer before he wound
up getting a call from Get This, the Houston Texans
to enter their training camp last year while he got caught,

(31:52):
took that job as the brick salesman, then wound up
trying out for the UFL and getting signed by the
Michigan Panthers. Of course, now we all know how that happened.
He was kicking sixty yard bombs for the Panthers this year,
got signed by the Lions, and the dude has not stopped.
He is currently this is unbelievable, made all fourteen of

(32:13):
his field goal attempts, thirty two of thirty three point
after attempts, and yesterday he's in front of friends in
family that were getting to see him play for the
very first time.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
And what does the guy do.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
Well, First, he goes out there and kicks the third
longest field goal in Lion's history to tie the game
in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
Kick there earned the job of the Lions from fifty
eight to tie the game, bats justin signing up tight.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
Ties it three and then has everything fall on his
shoulders at the very last moments of the game for
his first ever in his life walk off field goal
for fifty.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
Two for the wind.

Speaker 5 (32:58):
The good thing they didn't put in an extra code
of paint on these uprights.

Speaker 4 (33:02):
Because we have seen them slide by all night long.
One more time, wanna football games.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
What an unbelievable full circle moment to be back at
the place where it all started. Only to have your
first ever walk off field goal. He said, I've never
been hoisted like that. That was pretty cool. Just to
see the sidelines come to embrace me and stuff was
a cool moment. Actually watched himself on his phone when
he got into the locker room hit.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
That feel had.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
Im going to go ahead and give a feel good
to coach Dan Campbell as well. That did a halftime
report and literally manifested everything that happened in that second half.
If you see that video this morning.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
Lions fans enjoy this ride and enjoy incredible stories like
that of Jake Bates.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
So cool. Can't wait to watch it continue.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
And of course, feeling good here to help you out,
bring you something positive every day, six forty five and
nine twenty as we get ready to have some fung
smitty at an upcoming event that's one of our favorites
here in West Michigan.

Speaker 4 (33:57):
The seventeenth Annual Grand Rapids International Why Beer and Food Festival,
November twenty one, of the twenty third at Devosplace. Check
out Grwinefestival dot com.
